The watchers were surprised that Credonia soldiers allowed their base to be photographed by the ragged poor. After shooting all their film, the photographers shuffled back toward the market stall where they were handed the cameras in the first place.

They were angry that they didn't receive the second half of their payment. A few threw down the cameras in disgust. Others smashed them on the spot. Still others returned to the base to attempt to sell the cameras to the Credonia soldiers.

In the pre-dawn hours a three dozen men attacked the packed dirt of the roadway in a three different places with pickaxes and shovels. After making large holes in the surface of the streets, they filled the dirt in carefully and covered the holes with sheets of corrugated metal roofing.

The roadways was used daily by Credonia's military, transporting soldiers to and fro.

"Let's see how they react to this," the Abgal subclan lieutenent said as he slipped into the shadows, a pile of rice in his place as payment for the 'road crew'.

Meanwhile, as the sun started to rise the "WHOOMP" sound of mortars broke the typical African morning sounds of roosters greeting the dawn and muezzins calling the faithful to prayer.

The 81 mm mortars loaded inside three vans fired three rounds in quick succession at their target (the base of the Credonia soldiers) and then drove away to hiding places deep inside the streets of Mogadishu.

Filled with ceramic and copper pipes, the vans looked from above like a plumber's service vehicle....

After morning prayers, a horse-drawn cart slowly made its way down the roadway. It's driver seeing three sheets of corrugated metal roofing in the road was able to pull one onto his cart before rifle fire from the shadows drove him off.

Humpf, he thought. Just what we need, another BUMP in the middle of the road...

The prospect of being killed by a hidden sniper kept the Somali metal scroungers from stealing the remaining two metal roofing sheets that were covering the BUMPS in the road...

Bump, bump came the sound of a passenger car has it swerved to avoid the uncovered bump in the roadway and hit the other two instead....

Credonia. I must warn you that this is not an easy task. In 1993 the U.S. government sent in twice the amount of force that you are inflicting and they were met with tragec failures. A lot of the Somalli people do not want to be liberated because they think that you will force them to change their religeon, and they would rather die then have that happen. Don't make the mistake of thinking that just because the warlords grew up without running water that they obsolete.

Jako and Bulami were crouched down behind the flat roof ledge, below yet another Credonian convoy was approaching down the main street, several humvees were cruising down the street, troops manned 50.cals out of the top hatch.

Their were two bombs planteds in the road below, one was stuffed in a dead dog by the side of the road, and another larger one in the wreckage of a burnt out moped.

The young boys were tense but they were dedicated to the GLA and the destruction of Credonia.

As the first humvee was nearing the first bomb it detonated right on time, the second bomb was in the middle of the convoy and exploded too. The ground shook, Jako was gasping for breath and his ears were ringing.
They both looked over into the road and started firing their AKs into the destruction, elsewhere on the street other GLA members began firing and running for cover, Heavily armed pickups zipped through the intersection firing off their heavy calibre guns then moving off again, many GLA members were around firing into the doomed convoy.

A large pack of Credonian soldiers turned towards where the explosions were going off and shots fired. They immediately begin to close in on the area, shooting at the rebels as they tried to flea.

"Hold on, stay back!" yells one of the soliders as he prepares his rocket launcher.

"GET DOWN!!!" he yells as he kneels on one knee, aiming at the truck with rebels firing from it. Another soldier kneels next to him holding another rocket launcher

"WOOSH!!...WOOSH!!!" the missiles scream as they propel from the barrels of the launchers headed straight for the truck.

Almost immediatly, another solider holdoing a third launcher fires from a standing position

"WOOSH!!" it too screams as it speeds towards the truck.

"TAKE COVER DOWN THERE!!!" a soldier yells down the street as the missiles speed towards the truck and wreckage.

Overhead, an AH-64 Apache locks on to the initial explosions from the bombs but take no action to allow for a ground force response.


Losses: 1 humvee, 3 dead, 7 injured, an additional 5 cut and bruised by flying debris.

The members heard the helicopter in the sky and immediately sensed trouble. There were incoming rounds being fired but none were hitting, there was too much smoke.

A loud horn went off which signalled the retreat, the troops easily dispersed into the city, through secret ally ways and safe house, they left the scene to the Credonians.

Casualties: 2 injured.

OOC: You are so pompous! What about the mortar attacks? What about the bumps in the road? What about the photographs of your base?

IC- A woman wearing loose flowing robes approached the guard post outside the Credonia soldiers' base. She had several fine necklaces draped over her arm and was obviously trying to sell them to the soldiers.

"Buy. You buy now. Very pretty. Buy!"

Secret IC - Two motorcycles waited in the shadow of a nearby building. The drivers kept the motors idling at very low rpms. On the back of each motorbike were gunmen facing to the rear and armed with AK-47s...

OOC: Yes, except for the carrier division, it has long since left..and i never stated i was pulling out troops...just the naval units, which i did a couple months ago.

As a soldier approached, she smiled broadly. The Credonian was shocked to see her blackened gums and missing teeth, a spittle of black-green juice ran down her chin.

With a quick jerk of her arm, she detonated the 18 sticks of dynamite hidden under her robes. The blast vaporized the woman and the shockwave blew over some of the fence surrounding the miltary camp. What glass remained in the ruined windows of the building surrounding the camp were shattered into bits.

Moments after the blast, the motor bikes roared from their hiding places. One lost control and toppled in the crater created by the blast. The other motorcycle was able to zoom into the camp in the hopes of killing some soldiers.

The downed motor bike driver jumped up and got the motor started, but his gunman had already started walking toward the compound spraying rounds from his AK-47 at any likely targets. Seeing there was no need for him to die today, the driver mounted the bike and sped into the heart of the city....

The fleeing motor bike caught air on a huge BUMP in the unevenly paved roads but didn't lose control...

...and it BUMPED back onto the roadway and continued onwards...

...the motorcycle swerved to avoid another huge BUMP in the road...

...as the motorbike raced through the market dozens of shoppers BUMPED into each other to avoid being run over...

Official Announcement From The Credonian Government
Due to loss of interest by military leaders in Somalia, and a lack of support from allies, Credonia has announced its immediate withdrawal from this conflict after months of fighting what seems to be a lost cause. All military forces will begin their withdrawal immediately and should be on their way back to Credonia by 2200 hrs CST tonight.

Before all of the Credonian troops leave, one final operation was put underway. B-52's took off and dropped leaflets to all major cities stating:

"Credonia will return and in bigger numbers to free them from the clutches of the evil warlords thta ravage the land with an international force of nations. We have not forgotten. We will not forget, and we will not give up. We will fight for your freedom, you must continue to fight for your freedom. If you want your freedom, you must fight, and we will come back to help."

The warlords were amused at this last-ditch effort of the Credonia soldiers to save face after being defeated by a rag-tag, hit-and-run force.

"As you predicted Abdul, if we hurt them enough they would lose their will to fight and run away," said General Ali Mahdi. "Notify the gunmen that our clan will be requiring their services to tighten our grip on the city. We'll pay them in cash or khat - their choice."

"As you wish sir, and congratulations again."

As the import of Credonia's retreat made its way through the city, many fired small arms into the air in celebration of the great victory over the imperialists.

At the same time, those of rival clans began packing their belongings to leave the city during the night to friendly regions of the country.

There were celebrations in the streets, GLA technicals sped through the streets firing off weapons into the air and singing.
In one village, Credonian leaflets had been collected and the villages were using them as toilet paper (very absorbant, thanks).

A young boy sat grinning, wearing a Credonian Flak jacket, red stains of blood around the chest.

GLA commanders began the draw down of key members from Somalia, certain members were to remain. They would recruit more members and prepare the nation. Underground facilities had been setup throughout the nation.

Long live a free Somalia, free to govern itself.

To the men, women and children of Somalia: too long have you been made to suffer through war, too long have you suffered in poverty. "However, look at it from the Free Somalia side. They were backed into a corner with the entire world, led by Credonia, coming down on them. The only people willing to help were the GLA. It is in the interests of both Eredron, and the international community, for Somalia to achieve peace and prosperity, to throw off the shackles of poverty and tribal feuding, to forget the animosity and transgressions of the past.

Eredron is fully prepared and willing to aid Somalia in this struggle to meet its potential, to achieve greatness. But to do so, a free and legitimate government must be established.

The people of Somalia must have a government that is representative, not oppressive; democratic, not despotic. A government that pursues peace, instead of sponsoring terror.

Eredron finds it to be of supreme importance that Somalia, and those who would govern her, fully recognize that terrorists cannot and will not be tolerated, and those who harbor, aid or protect them are enemies of peace, and enemies of Eredron. If you desire international support, and international recognition, you must first abandon and forsake those terrorists operating within Somalia.

Following the latest intelligence briefing of reconaissance photos of Somalia and hoping to prevent terrorist organizations from further entrenching and securing themselves following Credonia's withdrawal, a second private communique was sent to the would-be government of Somalia, urging them to take steps to remove the known terrorist cells from Somalia, before the international community was forced to take measures to prevent the growth and strengthening of global terrorism.

Air patrols over the Gulf of Aden were also increased in response to unconfirmed reports of planned strikes against the Eredronian carrier group stationed in the area, and as an added precaution as supplies arrived via air and naval transport from Naori.

I was wondering if any nations could give a clear situation report on the status of Somalia? How are the people and what was the effect of Credonian occupation? And is it true that Credonia withdrew?

Under the cover of darkness, Task Force Bulwark steamed north from Port Ares toward the Horn of Africa, passing along the eastern coastline of the Republic of Ozymandias IV. The task force’s heart was comprised of the Kennedy Class aircraft carrier Intrepid and the Iowa Class battleship Independence, and the big ships’ wakes churned the ocean and left long phosphorescent trails behind in the moonlight.

A sailor on deck watched the long tendrils of light trailing behind the Indy smoking a cigarette in the open sea air for what he knew would be the last time in a while. Once the task force got nearer to its operational area, all ships would be blacked out including the glowing ember of a quick smoke on deck. He sighed he caught sight of the Republic’s eastern shoreline and wondered how long it would be until he would see the Republic again….

Standing on the deck of the aircraft carrier Morning Glory, dwarfed by the immense size of the ship, Captain Drakes watched the sun set. The brilliant light of the sun reflected off the ocean's rippling surface and bathed the fleet of warships in a rich orange hue. The ocean air swept across the deck of the carrier with its salty flavor.

"Captain, we've confirmed sixteen contacts bearing north on our position."

The captain turned to his XO, who seemed to have materialized out of thin air.

"We've identified them as Ozymandian."

"Have they attempted radio contact?"

"No, sir."

"Do so, then. We need to know their intentions. As a precaution, go to battlestations."

"Aye, sir."

Both officers strode across the deck and descended into the bowels of the ship, as the order went out to the rest of the fleet.

The People's Republic of Kay Son would like to invite the leader of 'Free Somalia' to a discussion on regional affairs and stability. The PRKS would also like to inquire of its fellow nation states on the reason why such aggression has been sparked over a fragile state.

It is in the interests of both Eredron, and the international community, for Somalia to achieve peace and prosperity, to throw off the shackles of poverty and tribal feuding, to forget the animosity and transgressions of the past.

Of course the people of Free Somalia denounce terrorism. However, we also recognize that what arrogant developed nations call terrorism is very different from what we call terrorism.

The forces fighting the Credonia soldiers were freedom fighters by our definition. While irregular combat may not appeal to your sensibilities, it is the only avenue open to us with the might alligned against us. We would further argue that invading an independent nation-state and imposing your will upon it while murdering civillians and political leaders is also terrorism. In this case, Credonia was most guilty of terrorism.

Now it appears that the nation of Eredon is poised to impose upon our people a government not of their choosing simply because we did not reply to your demands by the deadline you set.

Building a nation takes time. I was in the countryside surveying some of the damage caused by the civil war and did not receive your message until I returned to Mogadishu today.

It is not the intention or desire of Eredron to needlessly add to the suffering of the Somali people, inflicted upon them for countless years. While Eredron understands the need to defend oneself, enlisting the aid of terrorist organizations - terrorists by any standard - is an unacceptable course of action. Do not allow yourselves to be blinded into believing the GLA are freedom fighters - they are murderous thugs who will turn on you as soon as is convenient.

Furthermore, Eredron imposes upon Somalia nothing more than a desire for a free, open and democratic government for the Somali people - something that cannot be achieved if you insist upon consorting with terrorism. Again, I would implore you to expel the terrorist cells operating within Somalia, and accept Eredron's offer. Together, Somalia can be rebuilt. Together, Somalia can be made great.
