Star Trek RP

To any and all Star Trek fans: I will be starting up a Star Trek RP set in the Dominion War era, except I would prefer that nothing focused on DS9 (since we knew what happened, eventually). I would prefer that we focused on "in-between" battles (such as making up our own battles, captains, ships, etc., just for the purpose of this RP). I would prefer to start out small, with only 10 nations (5 on the UFP/Klingon Empire/Romulan Star Empire side, 5 on the Cardassian Alliance/Dominion side). The "Allies" (UFP, etc.) will automatically control half of both the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, and the "Axis" (Dominion, etc.) will control all of the Gamma Quadrant. The Delta Quadrant will be occupied by the Borg (aka, no one controls it). Even will be assigned their own star systems, then the fighting starts! Also, this will be mostly space-battle based, so I dont want too much on ground battles if possible, but i wouldn't be opposed to occasional one.

More later.

OCC:Sure! Glad to have you join up! I just need to know:

1.) Will you be interested in just purely space battles, or are you open to ground engagements?

2.) Do you think we should make this RP purely battle-oriented, or should there be a kind of "character backstory" to it? (like in a book, episode, or movie plot)

3.) Would you rather pick you theatre of operations (from a list i will post soon) or would you prefer i select it for you?

Looking forward to starting this up! (once we got some Cardassians/Jem'Hadar)

I would like to command the USS Nebu, serial number FBB-2153

Does it matter that I am unfamiliar with the Dominion Wars era? I am very knowledgable of the TOS, TNG, and (God help me) the Voyager era. I'm sure I could wing it.

1) I'm open to ground engagements, but only small scale. The Intrepid does not have a very big screw complement. ( 168 on the Celtic )

2) It should be a mix of both.

3) I'll have to see the theatres first.

OOC: Ok- first of all, Klonor, your knowledge of Voyager should suffice, becuase this takes place around the same time (albeit in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, mostly).

For both of you, i'll need you to: 1.) submit specs for your vessel(s) that will be used, and 2.) answer the questions that i asked UFP.

As for the theatres of operation, they should be posted up later today.

Lastly, purely as a favor, if anyone knows any people who might be open to being the "bad guys", maybe see if they might want to join up.

1. Torros System (Beta Quadrant)- Eliminate a Dominion shipyard above Torros III (historically, this battle was a UFP/ Klingon victory)

2. Algolis Cluster (Alpha Quadrant)- Eliminate a Dominion sensor array in the heart of this "cloud of asteroids, stellar fragments, and other hazardous material" (historically, this battle was a UFP victory)

3. Benzar System (Alpha Quadrant)- Force a Dominon retreat from this occpupied system (historically a Romulan victory)

4. Betazed- Take back this UFP core world from the Dominion (historically a UFP victory at great cost)

5. Kalandra Sector- Repel a Dominion invasion force heading for Betazed (historically a UFP failure)

6. Chin'toka System- Destroy an automated Cardassian defense system, and land troops in-system for a ground engagement (historically a UFP/Klingon/Romulan victory)

7. Caridian System- Attempt to capture a UFP production facility on the 3rd planet in the system (historically a Cardassian/Dominion/Breen failure)

8. Tyra System- A basic all-out brawl with the UFP (histroically a major Dominion victory- 98 UFP ships lost out of 112 total)

9. Sol System- Covertly attack the earth, and destroy Star Fleet HQ in San Fransisco (historically a Dominion/Breen victory)

10. Pelosa System- Defend a ketracel-white production facility from a UFP/ Klingon/ Romulan raid (historically a UFP victory)

11. Tibor Nebula- Intercept a Dominon fleet heading for Vulcan (historically a UFP victory)

12. AR-558- Battle for the control of this subspace relay station (historically a draw with no clear winner)

This is all I have for now; more will follow maybe tomorrow.

Blademasters, you've got yourself a spot. If you want the most combat action, be the Romulans.

Anyone up for being the Breen?

Also, keep in mind...we'll need to get troop/ground weapon specs (which I can post if you need me to for all races except the Breen), as well as arrange battle fleets for major engagements.

In case you're interested, I formed a new region, "Trekkers". If any of you want to move, you're more than welcome.

Okay, I've dreged up some specs for the D'deridex class warbird (unless of course I could use the scimitar  i mean, it technically was a part of the dominion war granted, the end, but still)

D'Deridex Class

The D'deridex-class is largest known Romulan warship in the Romulan Fleet. It is significantly larger than the Galaxy-Class starships in volume, but slightly less massive. Oddly the D'deridex is also somewhat less maneuverable than a Galaxy. Starfleet has yet to come up with an adequate explanation for this seeming contradiction. The D'deridex has greater firepower than a Galaxy but a somewhat more limited arc of fire. Like all Romulan ships it is powered by an artificial micro-singularity. It is this unusual power source is what gives all Romulan Warbirds their unique 'hollowed out' look.

Production Run:
Exact Names and Numbers are presently unknown

Type: Battleship
Length: 1,041 meters
Beam: 772 meters
Height: 285.5 meters
Decks: 80
Mass: 5,000,000 metric tons
Complement: 250 Officers, 1500 Enlisted, (1750 Total Standard Crew)
Diplomatic Capabilities: Grade 6
Standard Mission Duration: 4 years
Recommended Yard Overhaul: 17 years
Expected Duration: 100 years with refits

Propulsion:
2 Type 5C6 Quantum Singularity Energized Warp Drive Units
2 Class 4A Augmented Nuclear Fusion Impulse Units

Velocity:
Warp 5.0 Standard Cruising Speed
Warp 9.0 Maximum Cruising Speed
Warp 9.6 Maximum Attainable Speed

Phasers:
6 Primary Focus Disruptor Arrays
4 Gravitic Disruptor Mounts

Torpedoes:
2 Direct-Fire Plasma Torpedo
Special: Cloaking Device
Shields: UNKNOWN

Primary Computer System: UNKNOWN
Primary Navigation System: UNKNOWN

Embarked Craft:

8 Shuttlecraft (Various Classes)

To balance up the "bad guys", but without tying myself to a stereotype Cardassian/Dominion, I've decided to be a mercenary, but playing in the "bad guys" camp. You should remember this ship is pretty much a "pirate", which is why the ship is very powerful for its size, as they bribed and stole their technology.

http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/baran-screen.jpg

Name: Con'meshtan
Type: Heavy Raider ("Destroyer")
Length: 200 metres
Width: 200
Crew: 50
Hull: Unknown, reports indicate some sort of sensor distortion methods applied
Shields: Unknown, reports indicate to be similar to baseline Federation "Intrepid" class
Weapons: Unknown, reports indicate Federation Type VIII phasers, Romulan Disruptors and two tubes for fifty photon torpedoes (estimate)
Warp: Unknown, reports indicate the ship is capable of "at least" Warp 7

Chin'Toka system

also, in case nobody knows, the warbird has a weak spot in the aft shields, just above the left warp nacelle, a direct hit by a photon torpedo was able to breach the shield at that location and the following phaser hit from the USS enterprise D was able to destroy the affected D'deridex

OOC: If you don't mind, I'd kind of like to be a Klingon. Though I know there are many people on the Federate side already, we have no kligons. And I, a deep believer in the Klingon religions, as well as a fluent speaker of kligonese, will probably make a good player. Well, tell me if you'll let me be them, if not, I'll switch. I picked the most simple version of one of the least known, but most powerfull klingon warships. Anyway, for now, I am....
Captain Jur'Dak
IKS(Imperial Klingon Ship) Kre'Don (Negh'Var class ship)
Crew Compliment: 2500
Marine Compliment: Up to 1000 (Not suggested to do so for too long however)
Weaponry: Four Torpedo Launchers, Five Disruptor IV
Misscelaneous: Cloaking Device
Length: 682m (w/o spike), 718m (w/ spike)
Top Speed (assumed): Warp 8

I can't find much more info, but the Kre'Don is the one of 27 of these extremely heavily armed ships in the klingon fleet. However, since
most of those in this rp seem to have some of the most heavily armed ships of their fleet, I thought this would be a good choice. Especially if it comes to fighting the borg. As for ground weapons, well, its quite obvious. Klingons carry a simple disruptor (Settings: Kill, Overkill), a knife, and, if a marine, a Disruptor 2 (Settings: Kill, Overkill, Extreme Overkill). As to your questions, I would suggest some charactor backround...make that a lot of it, I don't at all mind fighting on the ground, after all, I'm a klingon. Actually, I like fighting hand to hand best, so I can squeeze the life out of my worthless enemy! As for picking area, whatever you want.

Final note, though these vessels are great in size, and extremely powerfull, and only 27 exist, 6 were still lost in the Dominion war. Because of this, let me state one thing. Later in the story line, I am completly willing to let my ship be killed. However, I ask that my captain be allowed to survive, for purposes of continuing to be part of the story line. That is all I have for now, sorry about the long length of this.

Assimliated Borg: Sure, you can join up...unfortunately, i'm just not sure what to have you do. i'll think of something.

As for UFP taking part in the Torros III battle, we'll need the Jem'Hadar person to participate in that (even though it was in Cardassian territroy).

Agrigento (or its puppet): what side are you interested in? let me know so i can prepare a slot.

Anyone got specs for any races' fighters? (I have ones for Cardassian and Federation fighters)

I'm up to playing the Federation in the Tyra System (a failure for my side), and Tibor Nebula, or Chin'toka System (both victories for my side).

Thats all for now
11-11-2003, 03:58
Hey Steve is handsome, thanks for being the Breen...i guess you don't mind attacking Star Fleet HQ. Don't forget the Breen energy dampening weapon that can disable shields (and reduce all avaliable ship power)

Remmonlands, how 'bout we coordinate a plan of attack for the Chin'toka system? Why don't we flank the perimeter (somehow), then use our heavy torpedo ships to bombard the platforms, and have our fighters strafe the platforms, and provide covering fire. Then, once all the platforms are space dust, we can land troops on Chin'toka IV, and initate a ground battle. What do you think?

ok....since Falasmayon can't participate anymore, we'll need another person to be Jem'Hadar. Anyone up for it?
11-11-2003, 14:11
crystata, i'm a cardassian, in the Chin'toka system i'll be defending the place, not attacking

oh and i do plan on going on the offensive, cardassian ships are better on the offensive as almost all their weaponry points forward and their shields are strongest to the front
11-11-2003, 16:33
Sorry remmonlands-i gotta keep 10 countries straight..i'm bound to mess up sometime. also i was thinking of limiting our fleets to about 150 (or somwhere thereabouts). That way, the conflicts could still be kept manageable. Also, do you have the specs of Cardassian fighters as well?
I could provide them if you needed them.

Also, anyone else interested in giving me (the Federation) some support at Chin'toka?

Alright, we're either up for the battle at Torros or we'll fight it out with Blademasters in Benzar, either way is good for us.

As for the questions:
1. We're fine with either one, we'd like to see some planetary battles when possible though.
2. Hmmm, well, character backstory is always good, perhaps when we really get things started we could post a bit of history on our characters then.
3. And well...this question seems to have solved itself.
11-11-2003, 19:29
Ok, Talkos, you might want to head over to the Benzar System so Blademasters has someone to play against (that, and the Torros System system historically was Jem'Hadar only).

well, i was thinking that we could use this current thread for the RP, and for setting up instructions for newcomers as well. The only problem is that it might get a little bit hectic with all the posts about different things.

Also, why don't you and Blademasters start off in the Benzar System, because you are the only ones who are ready.

Well, you could do some raiding missions. Or we could adopt you in when our battle gets started, I'm thinking that the full 100 ships is a little unwieldy. We'll probably only have about 10-20 capital ships with about 30-50 light patrol/attack ships for our system defense. After Crystata posts the staging areas and we ship out we could write in hiring your ship and a few other mercenaries so that you can have your own small command.

Also, i do like Talkos's idea about the fleet sizes. And, i think we all should take a look at the map Bobaria found. http://www.angelfire.com/nj2/startrek/images/tacticmap.gif

What about me? I'm a mercenary with no ties to any government (but on the "bad guys" side).

I'd be interested in hiring you to conduct espionage, I'd love to get my hands on a defiant class ship! Or Romulan or Klingon cloaking devices...

Also, I think it'd be helpful if we posted the race we're playing in the subject line...it'll help everyone keep things straight.

OOC: Alright, we'll start. Cardassian, from Bryma. To aid in the Dominion defense of Benzar

Gul Meron walked along the corridors of Byrma starbase, his footsteps echoing hollowly in the nearly empty Promenade. Before the war this place would have been bustling with activity, as Cardassian officers and client species went about their business. Hydak Damar had been saying that they were winning the war, but it seemed to be a very costly victory from here. The turbolift opened slowly and he shuffled in along with his second in command, Glinn Yevron. A lesser species would have been tempted by the silence to attempt small talk, but they rode in the silence of stern Cardassian efficiency. The crew at Ops came to attention as they exited, Gul Meron absentmindedly returned their salutes, and walked swiftly to Hydak Komar’s office, from there was coordinated the whole of the Second Order. The Hydak stood and saluted.

“Ahhh, Gul Meron, just the person I needed to see. Is your ship, the Panor ready?” The Hydak asked.

Gul Meron looked quickly over to his second, Glinn Yevron, who nodded quickly as Meron responded. “Yes sir, we are eager to return the Second Order on the battle lines. Most of the rest of our squadron has shipped out already.”

“Gul Meron, you and the rest of your squadron are not going back to the Second Order. We are sending you on detached duty. As you may know, the Jem’hadar forces have been hard pressed to keep up the attack, they are massing their forces for another large assault, unfortunately, this means stripping several key systems of their defensive forces. The burden falls upon us to take up the slack in those key areas, one of those is the Benzar system.

“Gul Meron, you have served the Cardassian Empire well in your years. A distinguished career, you fought in the last years of the first Federation War as I recall, aboard the Raduk, until it was destroyed by the Pegasus of course. And your role in the extermination of the Maqui, very exemplary.”

“Yes Hydak. We fought bravely, but as you know, a lone Galor was, and is, no match for a Federation Nebula.” Meron responded stiffly.

“Gul Meron, given your service to the Empire, your orders are; to take command of all Cardassian forces currently able to ship out from this starbase, and take them to organize the defense of Benzar. We have also arranged for the services of several non-aligned ships, they are waiting for you are the bar. The two wings of three Dominion Battlecruisers there will be pulling out, as well as four ten ships squadrons of their Attack Ships. There will still be two squadrons of Attack Ships, but we both know that they won’t stand up to a determined attack. Once the Dominion forces break open the Federation defenses, they should begin to crumble at the edges, and you will be at a very advantageous spot to reap the benefits as your ships sweep through their undefended systems. Good hunting.”

“As always Hydak Komar, we will do our best.” With that Meron saluted and turned stiffly away and marched out. When they were out of earshot he turned to Glinn Yevron and whispered urgently.

“Are we ready? And how many ships can we take?”
Glinn Yevron looked back at the Gul, and after a brief pause, replied.

“Yes, but barely. The damage to the internal systems has been repaired, as has most of the damage to the hull. We are still under-crewed though.” Announced Yevron as they entered the turbolift.

“The whole Second Order is undercrewed, probably the whole fleet. Now, how many can we take?” Asked Meron as they exited the turbolift and started across the Promenade.

“The other two Keldons from our squadron are ready to ship out. There are also three attack groups of Galors, and fourteen Hidekis, but only ten of those will be operational. Also I got a look at those non-aligned vessels, they look like pirates, but their ships seem impressive for their size.” Commented Glinn Yevron.

“So that makes twelve capital ships, and ten patrol ships, added to the twenty Attack Ships already in system. I don’t believe we can count on the pirates any further than we can throw them, but it seems we’ll need every ship we can get.” They arrived at the bar. “Now, where are those mercenaries?”

"Gul Meron, I take it?" The Cardassians turned. Standing near the bar was a tall woman, with pointed ears and a light coat of fur on the back of her hands. She wore a silvery jumpsuit and while she had no weapons, her fingernails seemed as sharp as daggers. Despite her quiet drawl, Katerllans (her people, a felinoid type race) typically spoke with doubled vowel sounds, her back was straight and she was alert.

"I am Adejaani Enjalis of the Con'meshtan. Not as powerful as your ships, but still worthy. Now, Gul..... Why should I fight for you Scale Necks? Name your price."

Well, Adejaani, Talkos, and Remmonlands have started playing in the Benzar System campaign. Since both of us are on the UFP side, we need to get at least one "bad guy" (a Bree, Cardassian, or Jem'Hadar) before either of us can start.

"Gul Meron, I take it?" The Cardassians turned. Standing near the bar was a tall woman, with pointed ears and a light coat of fur on the back of her hands. "I am Adejaani Enjalis of the Con'meshtan. Not as powerful as your ships, but still worthy. Now, Gul..... Why should I fight for you Scale Necks? Name your price."

Gul Meron's eyes quickly scanned the dark room before looking back at the feline captain and speaking harshly.

"You will fight for us because you are in a room half filled with armed Cardassian soldiers, on a station with over a thousand Cardassian military personnel, surrounded by over two dozen Cardassian and Dominion warships. Because if you do not fight for us we will throw you in the brig as pirates and confiscate your ships, intact, or not." Gul Meron paused for a few seconds to let his words sink in before he resumed talking, in a softer tone.

"You will want to fight for us because the Cardassian Union does not forget its deals lightly. You will have right of salvage to any Allied warships or convoys that are disabled. And will be in the position to raid behind the lines at the unprotected Federation, Romulan, and Klingon core worlds after Dominion forces break through their battle lines. And I do believe that a pardon for any crimes committed in Cardassian space would be in order?"

"That is our offer. I suggest you accept it. Once the new galactic order comes into place when the Allies fall, the Dominon does not forget its friends easily, and will remember them when rewarding the faithful for their dedication to the cause. We will ship out as soon as possible, now, will I have to ask those soldiers to escort you to the brig, or will you prepare to reap the spoils of victory." Gul Meron concluded, and crossed his arms, awaiting an anwser.

Enjalis' lip curled. Damned Cardassians had no honor. In that respect, the Katerllans were somewhat like Klingons. Although not as bloodthirsty or hungry for war, they still needed the ceremonial pomp and honor, nobility and all that. A pirate may loot and plunder, but some have honor. You may gloat and smile, Gul, but if I ever find you alone, I will run my claws through your insides.....

"Your offer is..... Acceptable, Gul." Enjalis said after a few minutes of thinking, the numbers screeling around in her mind. While her ship, the Con'meshtan was old, she did, in fact, derive of her firepower from salvages. She mounted Federation Phasers, Romulan Disruptors and even a Borg Tractor Beam, extracted at great cost from an arms dealer.

"However, I do need a few metric tons of tritanium and duranium for minor repairs to the hull and to remanufacture our expended Torpedo supplies. If you can spare some antimatter, it would help, but not necessary. In exchange, we offer the schematics of a Federation Type XII phaser bank and some used components of one. We could not take the whole unit, but your engineers are welcome to use it however you like. But on the whole, I accept your offer."

Even as the Kre'Don was finishing docking at Starbase 221, Kur'Dak was out of his chair, and exiting the bridge. He gave the con to one of the newer officers (who could use the experience) and walked across the docking array into the starbase. "These Humans have it nice, I'll give them that" he thought, as he made his way towards the bar. it seemed the best place to go, as he was supposed to join a newer task force with a group of humans, and from what he heard, a romulan and possibly another Klingon! Of course, he couldn't be sure untill he met the group.

Even as he sat down in the bar, he was looking about. He saw few non UFP personell, and realized this task force he was supposed to meet still wasn't here. Once he had a drink, he moved to sit at a booth that had a view of all the entrances and exits, as well as a fiew of the viewports. He would just have to sit here and wait for them...he hoped severely that they were honorable, good captains, and not arrogant or inexperienced captains (he had nothing against new captains, but people who went from a desk job to being a captain...he had no trust in). He mainly just hoped they'd get here soon....he was already bored.

OOC: Theatre of Operations? By that you mean??? Sorry if I'm not as familitar with all the diffirent parts of the Dominion War, but I never really watched DS9, and so I don't really know much about it.

Captain Kur'Dak continued to wait. It had seemed like it had been an hour, and, looking at his watch, he realized it had been. How long untill these people got here anyway? Oh well, he'd have to continue drinking random human beverages untill they arived. These beverages weren't as good as Klingon Bloodwine, but this substance the humans call "vodka" seems pretty good...though it doesn't pack much of a punch...

Gul Meron nodded slowly at the Katerllan captain before turning to his aide and requesting a padd, which he began quickly tapping, ending with pushing his thumb onto the screen.

"Alright. You can take the hull metals from the Oberon, she's in orbit, too damaged to be repaired, we're using her as scrap anyways. As for the torpedos, we don't have the time." Meron turned the padd over to her. "Take this to the quartermaster's office, requisition as many Torpedos you require for your ship." He frowned and continued after a pause. "You can have as much anti-matter as your ships require to get to our destination, after that we will either get fresh supplies, or you can cannibalize your torpedos for the stuff."

Gul Meron offered his hand. "Accepting our offer was a wise choice. Now, we have three hours before we have to leave for the front, we will transmit coordinants then, I suggest you get to your repairs."

Enjalis took the PADD, not bothering to note her ship had a crude manufacturing section aboard it. While time consuming, the Con'meshtan could build one brand new torpedo per day, mostly by hand. Inferior they may be and taking up a good deal of valuable space and tying up crew, they gave the desired heavy punch when needed.

"We shall be ready by then." Enjalis clasped Meron's hand. Unsure of the customs of Cardassians, she did what Katerllan society usually required, which was a combination curtsey and bow whilst still clasping the hand. According to the story, humans shook hands as a gesture of good faith, as they were using their sword arm. Katerllans took that one step further by adding a sort of curtsey (thereby changing their balance) and a bow (taking their eyes off the other person).

The deep, black stillness of space is shattered by the sleek shapes of 30 Federation ships. The task force, heading for the Cardassian Chin'toka system, consists of Akira-, Defiant-, and Nebula class starships headed by the USS Ranger (Akira-class).

Chin'toka is a Cardassian stronghold, protected by 15 orbital plasma cannons, squadrons of Hideki fighters, and some Keldon- and Galor-class cruisers. It is the 47th Fleet's job to secure this system (which wasn't too deep into Cardassian territory) for the Federation.

Three full squadrons of Star Fleet fighters (24 ships) head from the border of the system (where the task force is) to Chin'toka IV, insystem. Their job is to test the defences, and "soften up" the target so the main task force can finish it off.

The fighters execute a dangerous insystem warp jump, and come in range of Chin'toka IV in just a couple seconds. The fighters, without warning, drop out of warp. None of the Cardassian ships can respond in faster than 30 seconds, so the fighters split into 6 groups, taking out 2 orbital defence cannons before the Hideki-class fighters arrive, and the battle is joined.

Kur'Dak had gotten sick of sitting in the bar, waiting for any Federation captains to show up. There was work to be done, even if it wasn't honorable or glorious, and he would have to do it. He ordered all crewmembers return to the IKS Kre'Don immediatly, and as soon as he boarded the ship, began to skim the list of assignments. Seeing a large border patrol mission, he accepted it, and set course to begin the patrol. He didn't even notice the fact that it was a week long patrol, he could care less how short it was. He just needed something to do.

OOC: Alright, I know this isnt exactly a system, but none of the captains are rping with mine, and I need something to do. Let me re-interate what's said above. He's on defensive patrol. That means if the cardassians attack one of the below systems, I'll defend it (since someone from our side does). I'll keep that up untill someone plans to invade a system and lets me in on it, or someone meets my captain. Pretty much, he's on defense untill then.

Gul Meron sat uneasily in his command chair. He reflected upon his dealings with the mercenary captain....perhaps he could have handled it better. No, he was too old, had seen too much to give pretend pleasantries and false tact. None of that was as important as results, the first Federation War and the recent war with the Klingons had taught him that. As long as they came with them, if worse came to worse they could always be dealt with later.

“Gul, the Tarxis has finished repairs to her warp engines…they are beaming the repair crews back to the station and should be ready within the next ten minutes.” Announced the Glinn from where he stood near the communications console.

“Glinn, hail the Con'meshtan Transmit the coordinates for the Benzar system, the fleet will enter warp in 15 minutes.” The Tarxis was the last of the Galors to finish critical repairs, they now had every ship that could do battle in condition to travel.

“Sir, Hydak Komar is hailing us.”

“Well, answer him! No, route him through the main comm.” Gul Meron forced his exhausted muscles to straighten him up as he turned to face the comm, and stare into the cool face of the station commander Komar.

“Ahhh, Gul Meron, good to see you’re about to start out. I’m informing you that the Second Order just took a beating at the hands of Federation forces, even though they destroyed the Allied patrol, you weren’t missing much glory after all. I’ve routed six relatively undamaged Galor class ships from the Second Order your way, they won’t get there until after you do, but they should be adequate reinforcements if needed.” With that the station commander signed off.

Gul Meron closed the channel and turned to his second in command. “Glinn. Hail the fleet. Prepare for warp.”

On the far coreward side of the Chin'Toka system:
Dark silence. A peaceful, cold calm; an empty darkness that is known as space.
The universe ripples.
6 huge warships and 24 attack ships settle back into the universe, their warp engines cooling and their sublight drives humming to life. 6 quick Breen ships flit about the warships. A Dominion raiding party.
The Breen ships cut in front of the mass of flying weaponry. They sweep low over a small planet, and turn about, flitting towards the main inhabited planet in the system. Three are vaporized before they even have the sense to turn on their shields.
Klaxons erupt inside the Dominion fleet. Weapons charge, engines rumble, shields crackle to life. For them, the battle of Chin'Toka has begun.

Within a few minutes, the first of the attack ships reach the edge of Chin'Toka. With lightning speed, the Jem'Hadar attack ships make their first run on the Starfleet battlegroup.

A few minutes later, the 6 warships round the edge of the main planet, and begin their assault. Their leader, a large black battleship with the Founder word 'Quadrophenia' etched on its side, rounds the dark side of Chin'Toka's small moon.

"Communications, signal Meron. Acknowledged and are heading to warp. Navigations, get the coordinates. Helm, when ready, get us underway at Six." Enjalis saw the crew comply with efficiency. Although they weren't Starfleet trained, they were loyal and could still do the job. Some of the veterans had even been aboard for years. While the older ones joked about buying a small house and farm their remaining years away, it was only a joke. They got enough technology and money gained from selling it, yes, but they wouldn't leave the adventure. The rush as your ship's weapons snuffed out the life of another.

The Con'meshtan streaked off into space, ready to hunt its next victim.....

This thread looks very interesting! I'm happy to command a Dominion or Breen warship or group of warships. It sounds like you could use more "bad guys".

Have you given thought to including Cardassians, though? They are in more of a grey area. If it was up to me, I would want to command a Cardassian Keldon Class with a group of three dominion bugship escorts. I might eventually come over to the "good side", it could be exciting!

What do you think?

Description: Designed by Captain Brian MacLeod with construction beginning in 2325. The ship was actually designed with the intention of creating a vessel that could infiltrate into the heart of a hostile empire and successfully obtain data. Towards this end the ship was designed to be able to fight it’s way out should the cloaking device fail. This led to the first successful attempt to put multiple warp cores in a single vessel to provide power for the large number of weapons, triple shields, and four warp nacelles. A further effort to cut power costs was the creation of a complete AI program for the ship’s computer with holoemiters located throughout the ship allowing it to make repairs on itself and reducing the needed human crew to one. The one major flaw with the Lone Wolf is that despite her powerful sensors she carries only a bare bones lab. After overseeing construction of the ship and then taking command Captain MacLeod embarked on many secret and dangerous missions for some years, in the process of which a relationship formed between himself and the Computer AI which had named itself Samantha, or Sam for short. Sometime around 2376 the two married. With the easing of tensions between the major powers and the original need for the ship quickly disappearing combined with the introduction of ever newer and more powerful vessels, Captain MacLeod and Commander Samantha plan to take the Lone Wolf to some out of the way planet and retire in the near future. And so they will disappear, hidden from the view of Starfleet by secrecy despite the Command One Override Authority Brian has, as well as numerous encounters with other Starfleet vessels. Over the years, the Lone Wolf has received numerous refits to keep her up to date with improving technology. Despite her age, ton for ton, she carries more firepower than anything else in Starfleet.

"Set course for the Tyra Sector Sam, maximum warp, engage cloaking device."

Out of nowhere, a fleet of 16 Cardassian and 16 Jem'Hadar attack ships descend on the 24 Starfleet fighters. 4 ships are caught un-awhere and are destroyed. The remaining fighters break into five 4-ship elements, and begin split to attack the Cardassian Hidekis and the Jem'Hadar attack ships.
The fighting is more or less equal, for the first few minutes, and it looks like the Starfleeters have the advantage over the Hidekis and attack ships. Then, the two reserve Keldon-class cruisers join the battle. The Starfleeters are pulverised after taking down 6 Hidekis and 4 attack ships. However, the lead Starfleet fighter sends out a distress call before it is destroyed, alerting the rest of the fleet to the debacle.
There is a short, quiet calm while the Cardassians and Jem'Hadar assess their damages. However, within a few minutes, a full fleet of 30 Akira-, Defiant-, and Nebula-class ships drop out of warp, and start firing. In the first barrage, the orbital cannons are all either turned to space dust, or rendered in-operable. At the same time, the Akiras focus on the Keldons, and the Defiants on the Hidekis and attack ships. Federation troop ships fly down to the surface of Chin'toka IV.
Things do not look good for the Cardassians and Jem'Hadar, so they execute a micro-warp jump to 2 lightyears outside of Chin'toka, regrouping, and leaving their ground troops to fight the Federation MACO officers (Military Assualt Command Operations officers).

The Kre'Don came out of warp just as quickly as it had entered warp. Except in this case, the crew had no warning, and the sudden drop actually sent a couple of the newer crewmembers sprawling across the deck. Captain Kur'Dak immediatly jumped out of his chair, swearing, and asked "WHAT IN THE NAME OF S'SSK JUST HAPPENED?"

"I dont know captain" answered the helmsman "the ship is saying something is in the way..."

"WELL, WHAT'S IN THE WAY?" yelled Kur'Dak

"It looks like a ship, sir" answered Kren'Dou, the science officer "I'm attempting to locate which empire it is from, and how much of a threat it is right now sir"

"Fine, fine. In the meantime...hail that vessel!"

"Aye aye sir" answered the communications officer

Kre'Don rarely hoped for someone not to be an enemy, but in this case, he had to. Those starfleet ships at Chin'Toka were taking heavy casulties, and a Negh'Var could help quite a bit. He sat back down, waiting to see if the ship would respond.

The sleek black Quadrophenia sat silently in the middle of dark space. Its dark hull had become darker still, darker from energy blasts and torpedo assaults. Smiling, its commander turned towards the ships communications officer.
"Send a message to the Lonely People," he said, "and tell them to begin the retaliation. Codeword: Diecaster. As soon as they are ready, join them."

Two lightyears away, at the side of Chin'Toka where the Federation ships had entered Domion space, the universe began to shimmer. 20 Dominion warships reentered the universe, and began to assault the Federation flank. Simultaneously, 24 new attack ships entered just below the planet of Chin'Toka, and began their own new assault: 12 on the enemy, 12 on the Federation dropships.

Within a few minutes, the remains of the Dominion and Cardassian fleet came about and headed towards their fellows at Chin'Toka. 10 minutes later, the battle was rejoined.

OOC: We're heading for Benzar along with Adejaani. Most of the Dominion forces in the system are pulling out, as our Cardassian forces are moving in to take over patrol duties.

Gul Meron stared at the Jem'hadar face in the comm screen. The Dominion captain was saying something about wishing them good hunting, but he barely heard it. The duties of command reverberated in his mind, he had an entire system to defend, one critical to the war effort, but his fleet was barely adequate for the job. The two squadrons of Dominion attack ships that had been left on patrol, one squadron of Hideki patrol ships, nine Galors, with six more coming, three Keldons....and the mercenaries. As the Jem'hadar signed off Gul Meron sprung into action.

"Glinn. Get the ships captains on comm." He snapped.

"Yes Gul. All captains are reporting in, and I've routed them to the main console." Replied Glinn Yevron. Gul Meron straightened up in his seat and turned to the console.

"This is Gul Meron. These are the patrol assignments. The attack ship squadrons will be split, making four groups of five. They will begin patrols at the galactic compass points, the Hideki's will patrol below the system plane, and the Con'meshtan will take the patrol routes above the syetem plane. The Galors and Keldons will be held in reserve in-system. If enemies are encountered by the patrol groups, they are to harass them, and attempt to retreat back to the inner system. There all of our forces will regroup in order to confront the threat. Good hunting. For Cardassia and the Dominion!" He closed the channel.

With that the Gul slumped in his chair. This didn't feel right. If only he had more ships, then he wouldn't have to set the patrols on virtual suicide missions, he had little hope that if an Allied fleet decided to invade, the patrol group that made contact would survive the opening volleys. But, they would slow the Allied ships down, and allow their forces to group, so, their lives would not be spent needlessly.

"Glinn, do any captains wish for further discussion? Or is there anything on the long range sensors?"

IC: The Commander of the Federation fleet in the Tyra system watched as the Dominion fleet arrived. The dark purple Dominion ships simply kept coming out of warp, until it seemed the system must fill with them. When they finally stopped emerging the final count was over 400 Dominion ships, leaving the Federation fleet severely outnumbered. He knew that there was no way the Federation could hold the system and turned to order the retreat, knowing that few of the Federation ships would managed to escape. Suddenly his head snapped back around to the viewscreen. The middile of the Dominion fleet suddenly erupted in a blaze of heavy phaser fire and quantum and photon torpedos. Dominion ships detonated in bright blazes of antimatter fire. A few seconds later another blast of fire erupted from yet another direction. Even more Dominion ships disappeared in bursts of flame. The neat and tidy Dominion formation had broken apart in confusion, with each ship individually trying to both avoid enemy fire and locate it's source. At least three dominion battle cruisers slammed into each other in a massive collsion. The order to retreat one the Commander's lips came out completely diffrently. "All ships, attack, I repeat, attack!!"

On board the Lone Wolf Brian snapped the ship through a tight barrel roll clean through the middle of the disintigrating Dominion formation. The sound of the phasers and torpedos being fired by Samantha rang through the ship. "How's the cloak holding up?"
"Cloaking device is stable, all warp cores are performing at optimum." Samantha replied absently. Just then the first of the Federation starships burst into the heart of the battle with weapon ports blazing, catching the Dominion by surprise and sowing further confusion.

The Kre'Don jumped out of warp into the Tyra sector just as the dominion fleet was devastated. Captain Kur'Dak didn't wait to communicate with the Federation ships before entering the fray...they could recogninize the diffirence between a Klingon Negh'Var Class ship and any Dominon Class ship with ease.
"ALL WEAPONS, AIM ON THE NEAREST DOMINION SHIP AND FIRE ON MY MARK...NOW!" yelled Kur'Dak, and with that, a volley of phasers and torpedoes slammed into the nearest ship, nearly destroying it. With the first volley accomplished, Kur'Dak ordered that the crew fire at will. The first Klingon ship had entered the fray at Tyra, and was encountering as much resistance as the other Federation ships....which was still quiet a bit considering the destruction already wreaked on the Dominion warships.

"It looks like we have got ourselves into a great battle, my comrades, and we shall either win this, or perish in the attempt...get me the Federation Commanding Officer...and give him my compliments on however the H'ran he destroyed all those vessels! This shall be a glorious battle!"

A series of stray shots had by pure chance revealed the Lone Wolf. The cloaking device had been taken off line and the power diverted to the shields. And it was needed, easily the biggest ship in the Federation line of battle, she attacted the fire of every Dominion ship in range. However she wasn't accepting such insult unanswered. Phasers as well as photon and quantum torpedos blasted outwards seeking targets.
Brian rolled the ship up on one side, only just squeezing between a pair of Dominion battlecrusiers. A pair of broadsides later and the two ships had been reduced to expanding balls of plasma. "Nice shot Sam, but could you do something about some of those attack ships, they're begining to crowd us and it's getting hard to find openings to manuver through."
The small craft continuously zipped back and forth as they pelted the ship with energy fire. "Come to course 249 by 87 on my mark. Now!!"
In response to Sam's command Brian snapped the ship up in a hull straining manuver. Surprised by the sudden and extreme manuver the attack craft were momentarilly exposed and in the open. Completing the manuver Brian brought the Lone Wolf inverted relative to the attack craft and then rolled her on her side. Phasers and torpedos lashed out and roughly two dozen of the craft disappeared in balls of flame.
Brian suddenly slammed the ship into a hard starboard turn to avoid a Klingon ship which had appeared seemingly out of nowhere. "Trust a Klingon to crash a party without announcing himself." Sam said from behind Brian. Slowly but steadily the tied was begining to turn against the Dominion. But the cost was proving dear. The wrecks of both Dominion and Federation vessels were scattered liberally throughout the battle area. Surrounded by debris clouds made up of atmosphere, shattered hulls, and bodies many staggered under still more hits as shots ment for still active vessels slammed into them.

Kur'Dak was amazed. This cruiser...or maybe a dreadnaught would be a better word for it....was nearly taking on the entire enemy fleet singlehandedly! He couldn't believe it!
"Communications, contact that ship...whoever it is....I would like to speak to them. They seem quite battle able...and their crew must be great...not to mention their ship....too bad us Klingons have nothing like that..."

"Put them on auxilary screen five." Brian said referring to one of the many smaller screens he used to help keep track of everything going on around him.
As the Klingon bridge came into focus on the screen. Brian spoke without removing his eyes from the main viewscreen or slowing down his efforts at manuvering the Lone Wolf through the battle.

"She's one of a kind, I'm her designer and builder as well as her captain. She's starting to show her age, but I'll still match her against anything the Dominion would care to match her against." Brian's words were punctuated by the sound of the pulsephaser cannon turrets opening up on a cluster of attack ships that had been harrasing the Kre'Don . Just then a beeping sound came from one of the auxillary sensor panels. "Brian, something big is jumping in system." Sam said just as the Dominion dreadnought came out of warp. "Captain Kur"dak, feel free to follow me in, it looks like I'm about to have to prove that boast. Qapla'!" With that the connection cut out as Brian aimed the Lone Wolf directly at the massive Dominion ship as every weapon that could be brought to bear by both ships opened fire. The Lone Wolf shuddered almost continuously as her triple shields attempted to handle the incoming fire. "Sam, divert power from Cores 3 and 4 to the shields. Divert full power from tertiary and secondary shields full forward." Cores 3 and 4 were the warp cores assigned respectively to the cloaking device and auxillary power.

"Primary and secondary shields have failed. Tertitary shields at half strength and falling." The situation was becoming dire. The two vessels were exchanging nearly equal amounts of firepower, but the Lone Wolf's shields had already taken a beating, and the dreadnought simply had many times more mass to absorb the damage with than the Lone Wolf did. Shields on both ships collapsed at almost the same instant. Onboard the Lone Wolf ablative armor started to burn off as the ship shook more violently than ever before. The armor didn't quite hold long enough for the second generation ablastive armor generators to full come up, and several hits crashed through the Lone Wolf's hull before the ablative armor took full effect, each one seeming to Brian like a blow to his own body. "Warp core three is offline, hull breaches on decks nine, twelve and thirteen, weapon systems have taken heavy damage.
The list of damage continued to roll on. Brian knew that if the Dreadnought wasn't stopped, it could methodically destroy the remaining Federation ships. When he spoke, Brian's voice was leached of emotion. "Sam, divert all power not being used by the armor to the engines and structural integrity field." Brian flipped several switches, removing the safeties on the engines and structural integrity field. Hit's still slamming into her, the Lone Wolf swung around in a wide arc, the entire ship began to tremble as the engines were pushed far into the red. Her white hull, a throwback to an older time in an age when ships were painted battleship gray, looked like a bolt of judgment from the heavens as she threw herself at her garagntuan opponent. With a blast of light she impacted the dreadnought, disappearing inside her opponent for a moment before bursting through the opposite side. Behind her the Dreadnought went up in the largest explosion yet seen in the battle. However the Lone Wolf merely drifted, all external lights extingushed, one of her naceles nearly ripped from her hull, cranked at an awkward angle.

The Kre'Don dished out as much as it could towards the dreadnaught for the first couple of minutes, but it soon had to cover itself and Lone Wolf as the surviving dominion ships decided to turn on the two ships. He had just finsihed taking out a Galor class Cardasian vessel (one of two that had been remaining in sector) when he saw the Lone Wolf ram the other ship. "Now that, comrades, is a true warrior! How many enemy ships remain in sector?" asked Kur'Dak.
"Not enough to pose any difficulty...the Federation fleet is taking them down with ease" said his science officer
"Fine...approach the Lone Wolf..scan for lifesigns...if there are any, beam Doctor W'fren aboard with a couple of medics and enjineers. The exact amount is up to him."
"How many security guards" asked Security Cheif R'don
"None...they are our ally, security is not necesary...but on second thought...I will go myself with the doctor and his men. Meet in transporter room 3. Now get moving. Commander, you have the con"
"Aye sir"
Kur'Dak walked off the bridge, and within a minute, was in the transporter room.
"Have you found any safe coordinated for beam in?" asked Kur'Dak
"Yes sir, I traced the place where that earlier transmission came from" said the transporter officer
"Alright...no weapons, Doctor, are you and your men ready?"
"Yes sir" answred W'Fren "Me, a nurse, and two enjineers as you requested"
"Good....transport when ready"
Kur'Dak and his men appeared in a room inside the Lone Wolf, and immediatly saw Brain. W'fren, Kur'Dak, and the nurse immediatly rushed to his side. "Are you alright?" asked Kur'Dak in almost perfect English.
20-11-2003, 22:10
"I'll live if that's what you want to know. Thanks." Brian said as he levered himself up into a sitting position. He wiped a hand across his forehead and it came away bloody. "Sam, status report."
Samantha's figure fizzled with static. "Power is down throughout the ship due to shock damage loosening many connections. holoemiters are offline and damaged throughout the ship, including the bridge." She said this last with more than a trace of annoyence. "Nacelle three has been partially ripped from it's housing, as such when warp power comes back on-line we will be forced to run with only two nacelles, severly restriciting our speed. All other systems have sustained various degrees of damage but are repairible with parts onboard. However the damage to the hull and nacelle will require a space dock."
"In other words, worse than we'd hoped, better than we could expect." Gabriel turned to Kur'Dak. "My apologies, but as I'm sure you understand, duty to the ship comes before courtesy. Since my ship intrests you so, perhaps you'd like a tour of it, such as it is?"

You my friend, are a true warrior, and for a true warrior, I am willing to do much". Kur'Dak then helped him up, while Doctor W'Fren and his nurse looked over Brian.
20-11-2003, 23:51
"Your help is appriciated and accepted. Brian stepped through the door set in the back of the small bridge. Next to the door was a small gold plaque on which was inscribed Lone Wolf, NCC 70159. And under that What lurks in the darkness? "There isn't much to show you I'm afraid, with only myself as a living crewmember and only the bare minimum of labs onboard almost the entire volume of the ship is filled with weapons, engines and other equipment. When I designed the Lone Wolf the intention was to create a vessel that could sneak deep into enemy territory, collect data, and get back out, fighting if need be. Towards that end at the time she left drydock she was the fastest, most heavily armed and shielded craft in either the Alpha or Beta Quadrents."
The two entered a narrow corridor. "Rather than the combination of a seperate saucer and enginering sections common at the time she has a single hull. For greater protection her four nacelles are inset within the hull. Five warp cores provide power to sixty-five phasers, fourty-four torpedo tubes, and ten twin phaser cannon turrets as well as a cloaking device, triple shields, and other systems. She's gone through several refits in which her weapons, shields and warp cores were upgraded. It was during these refits that the ablative armor and armor generators were installed." Brian stopped in front of a door. When it refused to open at his presence he wedged his hands between the two halves of the door and almost effortlessly pulled it open. As he did the red emergency lights went out and the main lighting came on. "Ah good, it looks like things are getting back to normal. These are my quarters and office." Behind the doors was a rather small room in which was a bed, a desk with a chair, a small table and two chairs. A door leading to a bathroom was off to one side. The only other thing of mention in the room was a massive sheathed sword mounted on brackets on the wall and a belt holster with a pistol hanging off another wall hook. "I never was one for extensive decorating I'm afraid."

21-11-2003, 02:45
Brian's face reddend. "I'm afraid that was not always the case. For some years after her launching when tensions between our empires was much greater, more than a few of your ships that went missing actually ran afoul of the Wolf."

"Ahh, but that was long ago, and the past is just that...the past. What matters is the future. At the very least, those ships' crews died an honorable death." answered Kur'Dak, "I know this must sound strange from a Klingon, but I'm one of the new age thinkers, I guess you could say. Honor is great, and dying in battle is great, but, unlike many others, I see no honor in turning on our allies, especially the Federation, whom has always been there in our time of need."
21-11-2003, 02:54
Brian smiled. "I'm glad to hear that." He hesitated for a moment before walking over to the mounted sword and removing it from the wall. "This might interest you, it's been in my family for generations. When I graduated from the academy my Grandfather gave it to me saying that it had always served to protect the life of it's owner. Although I was skeptical at first it has served me well on many occasions. It's a bastard sword forged of the finest Highland steel. It's seen countless battles over then centuries in the hands of my forefathers." Brian offered the sheathed sword to Kur'Dak hilt first.

"This is a sword of great heritage and great honor within your family, as well as a sword causing fear outside of it. I am greatly honored by such an offer. However, I could not accept. This sword obviously means much to you...I would not want to take a warriors most favored weapon." said Kur'Dak
21-11-2003, 03:12
"I understand. Warriors do not normaly handle another's weapon." Brian said as he place the sword back on the wall almost reverently. "Perhaps you'd care to try a match between myself wielding my sword and you your bat'leth. I should warn you though that I normally keep the gravity on this ship at twice normal standard. However at the moment we should probibly best complete our tour." The two stepped out into the corridor again and resumed the walk aft. Brian gestured to the left. "That is the bunk room. On very rare occasion's we have passengers, however the largest number of people the Wolf can carry is eighteen, and not comfortibly. To the right is the sickbay, it's really little more than an aid station, one of Samanth's many positions is that of ship's doctor. That's the holodeck, probibly the most heavily used part of the ship. And this over here is probibaly the least used room on the ship. It contains what passes for a science lab. One thing this ship isn't built for is exploration. As they stopped in front of another door it opened revealing a turbolift. "Main enginering." Brian said. When it opened again the first thing they saw was an absolutly massive warp core that extended up almost fifteen decks. Even as they watched a hologram of Samantha connected a power conduit and it burst into life. "If the main computer can be considered the soul of the Wolf, this and the other four scattered throughout the ship are her hearts.

"Perhaps later I will take you up on your offer for a duel....non-fatal, of course!" Once they entered Enjineering, Kur'Dak nearly blanked "wait, you said no other humans...you mean you have holograms and computers completly running the ship?".
21-11-2003, 03:32
Brian smiled and nodded. "That's right, you are standing in what is probibly the most complex and advance AI system in either the Alpha or Beta quadrents. I handle the helm and command decisions as well as helping in the enginering department. She covers just about everything else. Most of the restraints you usually find on computers have been removed, causing her to me much more flexible than similar less powerful systems. As for myself, well, it gives you an idea of how much trust Starfleet places in me to have given me this ship all to my self. Technicaly I'm not even in the normal chain of command. The best description for what I do would probibly be freelance intellegence gathering and support. I analyise reports from around the galaxy and decide where I can do the most good."

OOC: Alright, that's my last post for tonight. I got to get to bed. Night. This rp seems to be doing really well, by the way.

"Ahhh...perhaps a drink would be a good idea, now that the battle is well over. As for what to drink..as long as it isn't Romulan Ale...I do not care. Bloodwine is great, and in the year I served in the Klingon Embassy to the Federation, I developed a taste for scotch", said Kur'Dak. Suddenly, a thought occured to him "Oh yes, I almost forgot, do you need any help repairing your ship? The nearest starbase is Starbase 211, and even at warp thats a couple of hours away. And, as you know, I cannot tow in warp...".
21-11-2003, 19:08
"Let me check. Sam, what's the status of the warp drive?"
The voice came out of a nearby speaker. "Warp drive will be operational in approximately ten minutes at which point we will be able to sustain a cruising speed of Warp 5. ETA to Starbase 211 is six hours."
"Thank you Sam. I appriciate your offer but it looks like we'll manage. However an escort would be appriciated, at least until we can get some of the weapons systems back online. And as for that drink, I know just the thing." Brian disappeared into his quarters for a moment. When he came out he was carrying a pair of massive mugs filled to the brim. "I call it Highland Blood, it's a mixture of Scotch, Bloodwine, and various other ingredients. And by the way this is the real stuff, no synthahol on this ship." He said as he handed Kur'Dak one of the mugs.

21-11-2003, 21:25
Brian shrugged in an aweshucks gesture. "I practically grew up drinking Scotch since my family are distillers from way back, during my travels I picked up a taste for Bloodwine. On one of my longer patrols I got rather bored and started mixing drinks. After a week spent almost completely drunk this was the result. The hangover lasted for at least a week by itself."
"Warpdrive on-line, course laid in for Starbase 211." Sam's voice rang through the ship.
"I think that's our cue to get this show back on the road. If you like I can send you home with a few kegs of Highland Blood."

"Sir! We have sensor readings at the outskirts of the system, in the mercenary's defense sector."

"How many, and are our allies still alive?"

"Gul, we count at least six capital ships, along with an unknown number of smaller ships. We have lost communication with the Con'Meshtan, but our sensors don't detect it's destruction." Replied the Glinn.

"Glinn, inform the fleet. Patrol elements are to fall back and regroup on line between the enemy forces. Capital ships are to begin to move towards the fighting regroup, we will face the enemy in the outer system, but if it takes to long we will be forced to fight them in the inner system, either way, I will not send my ships in piecemeal." Commanded Gul Meron. "And keep trying to raise the Con'Meshtan! We can't continue to operate blind."

The Drakon and her two sister ships, along with the nine Galors started to realign themselves, their hulls shining dully in the darkness as they engaged shields and brought weapons on-line for the coming battle.

The Federation MACOs spread out across the Chin'tokan surface, since they were deployed in the center of Cardassian activity. They come under almost constant fire by a couple Cardassian autocannons. The MACOs take out the cannons with minimal casualties, and move on.
Unfortunately, the battle in space is not going as easy. The Cardassians and Jem'Hadar have regrouped, and returned, with reinforcements. The remaining opertaional 28 Starfleet cruisers and 16 fighters are outnumbered when 40 enemy cruisers and 20 enemy fighters drop out of warp above Chin'toka IV.
The Starfleeters put up a valiant fight, but the enemy force is too great. After the initial assault, the Starfleeters stand at 23 cruisers, 12 fighters, and the enemy total stands at 34 cruisers and 17 fighters. The badly outnumbered, disadvantaged Starfleeters, not wanting to abandon the 500 MACOs on the Chin'tokan surface, try to hold off until Allied reinforcements can arrive.

"Let me check, Sam, assuming we get all our repairs done in time, what's our combat effectiveness?"
"Seventy-five percent, that's the best we're going to get without at least a short stay in a space dock. However we're still limited to Warp 6 because of the damaged nacelle. However I have a suggestion, if the Kre'Don uses it's tractors, it should be able to literally shove the nacelle back in place, it won't be neat or pretty, and the ride will be rough, but it will get us to Warp 8."
"If you'd be so kind sir, I suspect we're going to need all the fire power we can muster when we get to the Chin'Toka system. We're wounded, but our teeth are still sharp." Brian said to Kur'Dak.

"Go right ahead, I have a couple calls to make." Brian said. With that he turned to what served as a communications station. Punching a few buttons he set the trancever to broadcast throughout the fleet. "This is Captain Brain MacLeod. I am activating a Priority One Maximum Command Override, confirmation of overide authority will follow this broadcast. All Federation units that are combat capable are to form up on the Lone Wolf and the IKS Kre'Don and prepare to Warp to the Chin'Toka system. That is all." Brian hit another button and the autorization was sent. The communications screen came to life. A man in the unifrom of a Fleet Admiral filled the screen. "This is Admiral Caidin, where do you get off assuming a Priority One Maximum Command Override. I outrank you and I will not let you highjack this fleet. Hell, until you showed up here I'd never even heard of you."
Brian's face didn't change, but his eyes turned hard, and his tone of voice was dead level, a warning sign to anyone who knew him. "Admiral, you may technicaly outrank me, but I have more years in service than you do, and how I got a Priority One Maximum Command Override doesn't matter. What matter's is that I have such authority, and that you obey it. Should you failed to obey such autorization I will see you next at your courtmarshal, understood Admiral?"
Admiral Caidin didn't look happy but nodded. "Very well, as of now the fleet is under your orders."
Brian's tone softend. "Very good, you may retain tactical command Admiral, I'm not looking to steal your command, merely see it gets where needed." That said, Brian killed the screen.
Sam's voice came from behind him. "Brian, the Kre'Don is ready for the nacelle shift."
"Tell them to go ahead." Brian said as he headed for the bridge.

As soon as Kur'Dak materialized on the bridge of the Kre'Don, he knew that today would be a long day. He ordered his cheif enjineer to begin the procedure, and had his cheif science officer look over the procedure to make sure nothing went wrong. He then ordered his communications officer to send out a level 5 command to all Klingon ships in area, instructing them to form up on the Kre'Don and the Lone Wolf. Once his crew had reajusted the warp nacelle on the Lone Wolf, he hailed the ship.
"Are you ready to warp?" asked Kur'Dak, in a hurried voice, as he looked over the latest report from the Chin'Toka system.

OOC: About the level 5 command....it may not seem like much, but look at it this way. The closest Klingon outpost is quite a ways away, and the closest ship with a rating higher than level 5 is nine sectors away. So level five, really, is just about the same as the starfleet level one.
23-11-2003, 00:07
OOC: Double post.
23-11-2003, 00:08
Brian looked at the mass of Starfleet ships holding station on the Lone Wolf Over fifty-five ships of various types were still in good enough condition to fight. In fact Brian knew that many of them probibily weren't, but their captains had chosen to come along anyway. All of the bore the scars of the previous battle. But they were as ready as they'd ever be. "We're ready Kur'Dak. Let's get this show on the road. All ships go to warp on my mark. Mark!!." With a flash the entire armada lept into warp. The Lone Wolf shook and shuddered, courtesy of the damaged nacelle. But as Samantha had promised, she got up to Warp 8.
Brian grabbed his toolkit and headed back into the bowels of the ship. There were still many repairs to be made. "Keep an eye on things for me Sam."
"Will do, and watch where your putting that wrench would you? Those are my insides you're pulling apart and putting back togeather."
Brian grinned. "I always do Sam, I always do."

The Kre'Don warped out right after the Federation fleet, with two new escorts. Kur'Dak was quite impressed by the armada they had put together, yet, at the same time, dissapointed. Over 55 Starfleet Ships, and only three Klingon ships so far, with only 5 more Klingon ships expected to show up in time for the battle. Nonetheless, he was not THAT dissapointed, for there were NO romulan ships at all, which made him feel he wasn't the least helpfull.
It took a few hours, but when their ships did arrive, the promised 5 Klingon ships, and a few more Federation ships, had shown. Upon jumping in system, Kur'Dak swore. The Federation fleet was being attacked without mercy by the dominion. He hailed the Federation Commander and Brian on the Lone Wolf, as well as all of the Klingon Commanders, to coordinate attacking.
"That fleet is big, my comrades, very big. If we do not win, so be it, but today is a good day to die.
23-11-2003, 01:01
The fleet broke out of warp. The lines from Lord Tennyson Alfred's, 'Charge of the Light Brigade' ran through Brian's mind as he gave the order to attack. "All units, form up and engage by squadron, deity be with you!" With the Lone Wolf in the lead, the Federation ships formed a flying wedge and drove themselves straight into the heart of the enemy formation. Energy fire went in all directions as one, two and even three Federation ships peeled off after single Dominion Ships. Brian had ordered that the damaged ships stick togeather in order to increase their chances of surviving the battle. The Lone Wolf herself had a pair of Defiants providing escort. Her shields shrugged off the incoming fire and her remaining weapons cut a swath through the enemy ships.

The Klingon fleet, forming a wedge around the Kre'Don, attacked full force along with the Federation. Most of the Klingons vessels weren't damaged, and those that were had been ordered to stick around the Kre'Don. The cardassian fleet easily broke apart under the attack of not only the two combined Federation fleets, but the Klingon fleet as well. The battle seemed in favor of the UFP.
23-11-2003, 06:13
The Commander of the Quadrophenia smiled. Excellent, he thought, this is going just as planned. He turned toward his communications officer. "Order the Who to begin its mission. After you finish with that, wait 3 minutes, then order the remaining fleet to pull back to just past the planet."
He turned toward his tactical officer. "Begin Operation: Grateful Dead".

The Cardassian-Dominion fleet, its Cardassian section falling down to 4 of the original fighters and 4 remaining Galor-class cruiser, with 14 Dominion battlecruisers and 5 remaining attack ships left beside them, began to retreat past Chin'Toka. A few more cruisers fell in their retreat, leaving them at 16 total. Soon, another command was issued, and all but 3 cruisers retreated to just outside the system. The remaining 3 did turn on their warp engines, however. They jumped to warp 9 and dived straight into the planet, releasing the magnetic fields on their warp cores. The planet, shaking violently from the sudden release of such power and the simultaneous slamming of such high speed-masses, ruptured, hurling chunks of rock and atmosphere into space.

4 lightyears from the solar system, a ship jumped to warp. A big ship. A Dominion ship. And its target: Federation space.
23-11-2003, 07:08
The Lone Wolf's sensors, designed for intellegence gathering from sectors away picked up the massive warp signature. Immediately alarms went off inside the ship. "Brian, we have a single large contact going into warp approximately four light years out. The thing is huge, at least dreadnought size, possibly larger."
"Get a message off to Kur'Dak. Also contact the ninth and tweleth squadrons and order them to join us. We're in no shape to take even a dreadnought on single handedly. Have the rest of the taskforce standing by incase we get in over our heads."
"On it."
A pair of war refited Intrepids, three Miranda's, a Nebula with a weapons pod, a trio of Sabers, two Griffins, an Akira, and a stray Yeager joined the Lone Wolf and her Defiant escort. All were battered and damaged, but operational. That was all that could be expected by this point in the battle.
Brian's voice came over the communications channel. "All units go to warp on my mark. Mark!" The ships lept into warp, racing towards the newcomer.

IC: The MACOs are on the "doorstep" of the main Cardassian complex. The facility, however, is protected by a large level 1 force field. The MACOs decide to place photon grenades at the juncture points where the shields overlap, hoping that this will disrupt the field integrity. Unforunately, it doesn't. The MACOs set their tricorders to stream out a tachyon burst, which should shut the field down temporarily so the MACOs can get through. Finally, this plan works, and the 450-odd MACOs descend on the Cardassian bunkers inside.
Two divisions converge on the main Cardassian bunker, which houses four disrupter autocannons and 2 photon grenade launchers. This bunker is the urgent priority, since it has the capability to eliminate the whole MACO detachment. The MACO division leaders settle into one of the smaller bunkers to plan an attack against that one bunker, so that Chin'toka IV will be finally be secure.
However, even as the MACOs are planning their attack strategy, their thoughts turn the the UFP battlefleet above...

As the masses of MACOs planned their assault against the Cardassian stronghold, one of the Galor-class cruisers left behind for the suicide mission rammed the planet a few kilometers east of their position. Earthquakes ripped across the continent and vast amounts of the atmosphere were knocked into space by the destructive impact. Another part of the planet, and then another, were hit by the suicidal starships. The air thinned.

Outside the system, the massed forces who retreated just moments ago began to attack again. The battlegroup turned towards another part of Federation space, far away from the Dreadnought's flight path, and jumped to warp.

"Volley three Photons from the aft tube at the nearest ship and use our tactical decoys. Then make a brief warp jump. We cannot fight the Warbirds. We need to get to the Cardassian Fleet. We can defeat the BoPs, perhaps, but not against those juggernauts. Ready..... go!"

Still under heavy fire, the Con'meshtan whirled again, this time to starboard. Three red blips of energy roared aft as sensor deflecting decoys shot out the side of the main hull, then a flash of light and the ship headed towards the Cardassian Fleet.
24-11-2003, 02:46
The Lone Wolf and the rest of the Federation fleet had finally managed to get within weapons range of the Dominion dreadnought. Quantum and Photon torpedos began to slam into the massive vessel as the fleet held itself at the edge of torpedo range.
Inside the Lone Wolf Brian grimmaced, knowing it would be down to a slugging match before it was over. And he knew just how fragile so of the repairs holding the ship togeather were. Many systems were running on the backups, or the backups to the backups, bypass cables were strung over some parts of the ship so heavily that they looked like spider webs. A few solid hits getting past the shields and armor could easily knock the entire asembledge apart. The only bright spot was the fact that the Wolf had thousands of torpedos onboard, and he planned to use most of them before moving in.

"Dispatch Fleets One and Two (20 ships each...5 D'deridex class each, 15 BoPs), led by Ael'Riov Devir and Ael'Riov Quentis. We cannot let a SINGLE system fall. The Home Guard will remain in orbit."

"Yes my lord"

The Cardassian ships move from their positions in patrol around the Benzar system, the 4 squadrons of 5 Dominion attack ships and 1 squadron of 10 Hideki Patrol ships converging several minutes behind the Galor and Keldons which had gotten a head start.

"Any word from the Con'Meshtan?...Continue to try to hail them, we can't continue to operate blind here. Any word from the reinforcements?"

"No Gul, there has been no word."

Gul Meron cursed and stalked over to the helm console, urging the frightened crewman for speed.

"If we cannot hail them we must establish sensor contact!"

The Dreadnought dropped out of warp, and turned toward the Federation fleet. It knew its job very well. The sensors picked up the Lone Wolf flying straight towards the massive battleship. Its captain grimaced, then gave the order to attack. The Dreadnought aimed its massive forward section at the tiny starship, and engaged warp, its own weapons firing straight at the tiny ship. Three other warships dropped out of warp, and began pounding on the rest of the fleet that thought it was fighting that 'lone' Dominion Dreadnought. Unfortunately, the Dominion's Leaders aren't stupid enough to send one Dreadnought unless they have a very good reason.

Many lightyears away, the main battle fleet dropped out of warp, just inside Federation space. They discovered a small, unsuspecting sentry ship. And destroyed it. The last things that ship's crew ever saw were the Dominion fleet's warp exhaust trails.
24-11-2003, 18:48
"OK people. execute operation Flat Tire." Brians voice came over the comm channel. Then Lone Wolf and her Defiant escort headed down the port side of the dreadnought while the rest of the Federation ships headed down here starboard side, all of them at full speed. Shields taking a devestaing fire, the ships held their own fire. As they passed the dreadnought tractor beams lashed out from all the ships, grabbing the dreadnought's nacelles every ship gave a sudden lurch, the sound of overstrained engines filled the crews ears for a moment before both nacelles suddenly ripped off. All the Federation ships quickly jumped into warp, popping out only seconds later.
"Sam, what's their status?"
"They're going nowhere. They still got full impulse, but their warp field has completely collapsed."
Brian opened up a channel to all the other ships. "Good job everyone, they're stranded. Stand by for further orders." He turned off the comm system before turning to Samantha. "Now the question is, who lets a ship like that travel by itself? And why?"
"I think I have the answer Brian, on of our deep space sensor arrays has just picked up a large combined Cardassian and Dominion fleet heading for Federation space."
The look on Brian's face was priceless. "Are you telling me they used a dreadnought as a decoy. Can we intercept them before they reach anything importent?"
Yes, but only just. And I'm begining to worry about that damaged nacelle, the vibrations are steadily getting worse, I don't know how much longer we can continue to use it."
Brian sighed. "We don't have a choice. Pass the word to all ships, we're moving to intercept. And get a message off to Starfleet Command, maybe they have someone who can join up with us."
Once again the Federation fleet lept into warp.
24-11-2003, 19:45
As soon as the Federation fleet jumped to warp, the three Dominion battleships dropped out of warp. They quickly snapped the Dreadnought up in their own tractor beams, and pulled it into a slow Warp 7 behind them. The Dreadnought continued on its course.

As the main Dominion fleet's sensors began picking up the massed Federation-Klingon warships behind them, a small group of cruisers rushed over to the devastated Chin'Toka system and, while most of the Federation fleet was out chasing ghosts, retook the system in the name of the Dominion. A second Dreadnought, and then a third, took off on another run into Federation space, this time aiming for Vulcan. A small group of 10 battleships and 4 attack ships followed closely behind them.

The main Dominion fleet closed on their target: Alpha Centauri, just 4 short lightyears away from Earth.
24-11-2003, 20:24
OOC: How many dreadnoughts do you have? Last I knew the Dominion didn't really use them because they weren't able to get past the wormhole until the very end of the war. And are you forgetting the remainins hundred or so starfleet and several Klingon ships still in Chin'Toka? I only took seventeen ships including the Lone Wolf
24-11-2003, 20:50
IC: The Dominion forces got a nasty shock when out of a nearby nebula poured nearly the entire strength of the Sector 001 Defense fleet. Throughout the war it had been maintained in case another Borg attack had come. But now it had been unleashed. Hundreds of starships, most combat biased, poured down on the onrushing Dominion fleet like an unstoppible tidal wave. Sovereigns, war refited Intrepids and Galaxies, Akiras, Steamrunners, Sabers, Novas, Miranda's, Nebula's, Norways, Defiants, Excelsiors, all poured an unrelenting fire into the enemy fleet. Then the small fleet surrounding the Lone Wolf arrived, weapons blazing they tore into the rear of the Dominion fleet.

OOC: Now that we've both gotten the "Oh hey, let's just call massive fleets out of vaccum" out of our systems, let's keep it a little more reasonible, hmmm?
24-11-2003, 21:11
OOC: Cratership, I know this is a little late, but why did you have the Galor-class ship ram Chin'toka? Not only did that wipe out my involvement in that theatre, it also wrecked the timeline. Chin'toka was a Federation victory.
24-11-2003, 23:08
OOC: Crystata: Sorry about that. Just thought it would be an interesting way for the Dominion to deal with the problem. Besides, your people aren't entirely wiped out. The Galor ship was close enough to the planet and damaged enough to only kill about half your forces. The main Cardassian bunker was completely destroyed, however. The atmosphere, though a lot thinner now, should still be breathable (but in the same way the air on the top of a high mountain is breathable). The planet is mostly wrecked, however.
Grimdale: Sorry. I didn't remember the other ships around Chin'Toka. Strike that.
I've only used a total of 3 Dreadnoughts so far (not really a massive amount), so I should be okay on that count. So far, I've only pulled a total of 6 ships out of nowhere (not including the reinforcements, which I said were coming from Dominion space already). The 'massive fleets out of vacuum' was your thing, with the, well, masses of ships coming out of the nebula (doesn't really make sense, since the Federation wouldn't keep so many ships so far inside if they were struggling just to fight the Dominion). Nevertheless:
IC: The Dominion forces, surprised by the mass of ships waiting for them just inside a nearby nebula, began to retreat towards Dominion space.

OOC: No problem, and the massive Federation fleet isn't that unusual. A minimum fleet strength is always maintained around the Sol system for just such an instance.

IC: The Lone Wolf eased into Starbase 211. Massive black patches the stood out against her white paint showed where shields and armor had failed to provide sufficent protection. Almost as soon as she came to a stop technicions began swarming over her. The Chief Enginer of the Starbase conferred with Brian over the comm system. "From the looks of things it will be at least five days before we get you space worthy. The biggest problem will be properly reseating that nacelle. Do you reaise if you had run it for even a few more hours at warp it would most likely have ripped completely free of the ship."
"I suspected as much, but I wasn't really given an option, we had, and still have places to go. I know you'll do your best to expidite repairs Commander. The sooner the Wolf gets back in space the better. We're badly needed out there."
"I understand Captain MacLeod, you have priority on anything you need. We'll get you out of the yard as soon as possible. Commander Gerald out."
"Going to stop by the base before we leave?" The voice came from behind Brian. He turned around to see Samantha standing there.
"Not if I can help it, no." Brian picked up his tool case. "I've got to make sure those yard dogs don't have any spare pieces lying around when they're done putting you back togeather."
"It's appriciated."

Brian watched as the battered remaints of the Chin'toka operation limped into the haven Starbase 211 represented. Repairs to the Lone Wolf were nearly finished, and although they weren't pretty, she would be back to full strength by tomorrow. But even as he watched the federation fleet come in his thoughts drifted and he wondered what had become of Kur'Dak and the Kre'Don.
25-11-2003, 03:20
The nacelleless dreadnought, seeing what its fellow warships had faced in their run in on Alpha Centauri, quickly changed course. Fortunately, it was close enough to its secondary target to launch an assault almost immediatly. The four ships flew towards their target at warp 9, 10 lightyears, then 5, then 4, 3, 2, 1, and then ontop of their target.
Onboard Starbase 232, a large repair base deep in Starfleet territory, the crew of a few new starships, stopping by for a little leave before they approached the front, suddenly felt massive shocks rip into the space station. Their defensive shields, activating almost automatically, soon fell victim to the inredibly devastating power of the Dreadnoughts weapon arrays. Shields, down, ships destroyed, weapons disintegrated from powerful disruptor shots, the crew watched in terror as the massive Dominion ships pummeled the sides of the defenseless base. After removing all possible long-range communications or escape routes, and devastating the major civilian sections of the base, the Dreadnought opened a channel to the damaged base. A short, dark-skinned Founder-worshipper appeared on all the remaining screens in the starbase, and said "Federation peoples: we order you to stand down immediately and give yourselves up in the name of the Dominion or we will fire upon the civilian sections of your base. Your commander has 1 minute to respond, and you have 2 and a half minutes to comply to our demands. Any attack upon any of our soldiers will result in the annihilation of the civilians onboard your base." And with that, the battleships began to board the Federation starbase.

OOC: OMG! I AM SOOO PISSED, AND SOOO SORRY! My internet wen't out for a couple days, since Friday Night, and it seems everything has progressed. Nonetheless, I'll try to work myself back into the RP. As for the 1000 extra officers, a Negh'Var can carry up to 1000 troops comfortably. However, as it's so far from home, the Kre'Don has been given 1000 extra officers to replace killed or permanently injured officers from any fleet ships in the area. Uh, two more things, sorry about the length of the OOC. First of all, the Soveriegn Class Ship is not a battleship, as some people have said in this strip. Second, the 001 Defense Fleet does exist, so his "creating" it is, in its own way, realistic. Though the size is a bit off, I believe.

Kur'Dak awoke suddenly, and, looking around, realialized ship power was out. He looked around the bridge of the Kre'Don, and saw that only Communications Officer Ren'Tok and Doctor W'Fren were awake. W'Fren was tending to the wounded, and Ren'Tok was trying to fix his communications computer.

"Report...what the hell happened? And who did this to us?" asked Kur'Dak

"The Cardassians, sir" answered Ren'Tok "they crashed 3 galors into the
planet, and as our fleet was crusing right above the surface, going after that stray Keldon...well...we got hit horribly. From what sensors we do have, I detect that 2 of our ships warped out, 1 is disabled as we are...and the rest are destroyed. I'm detecting quite a few escape pods though. As for a report...ship power is out, we have no communications, and it seems all bridge crew excepting Helsman Qur'Nak, Doctor W'Fren, and myself are dead. And of course, the XO, who the doctor is now working on."

"What about the crew?" asked Kur'Dak.

This time, W'Fren answered "Well, from what reports we have, around 200 are dead, and at least 700 wounded. That's including the 1000 extra officers."

"Damn. How long untill we have main power?" continued Kur'Dak

"Well, I'd say a day or so, and as for warp, about the same." answered Ensign Kursk from Enjineering, who had just limped onto the bridge.

"Alright, get to it. Ren'Tok, reasign extra personell to medical and enjineering. And try to get contact with the fleet."

For a day, the Kre'Don would lick its wounds, before regrouping with the other disabled ship (which had repaired itself) and warping towards starbase 221. It would take 5 hours to reach the starbase, where, hopefully, more help could be given to the wounded.

Once again the Lone Wolf entered the Chin'toka system. Sensors at full power she swept the debris of battle for life signs. Behind her came a small fleet of tugs and a hospital ship. the Lone Wolf had been the only ship that could be spared for the moment to escort the salvage effort. As they moved through the system the tugs grabbed any ship that looked salvagible while the hospital ship collected the survivors who had been missed in the hurried withdrawl from the system.
Brian was grimfaced as he surveyed the carnage, he was broken out of his revere by Samantha's voice. "Brian, I'm picking up what looks like a pair of disabled Klingon vessels in close orbit above the planet. From inital scans it looks like one of them may be the Kre'Don."
"Open a hailing frequency. And prepare to move in and begin towing operations. It looks like we may have a chance to repay our good friend Kur'Dak for his earlier assistance."
"Channel open."

A slight shudder ran through the ship as the Lone Wolf's tractor beams engaged. "We'll be pulling out with the hospital ship so you can transfer your wounded then, we should have you back at Starbase 211 in three hours. Five warp cores means we've got engine power to spare. 25-11-2003, 05:03
Brian had good reason to be pleased with himself asthe Lone Wolf eased into her station outside of Starbase 211. The Wolf had just finished a high speed run while towing a pair of Klingon battlecrusiers, and she had held up magnificently. Her repairs had gone even better than he had hoped. And the salvage mission had been a great success, several ships had been recovered that would soon be repaired, along with several hundred personnel.
"Sam, comm Kur'Dak and ask him to meet me at the Taste of Home bar when he finds himself free. An tell him I'm buying."
"That will get him over there, enjoy yourself."
"I will."

Brian rematerialized just outside the small bar. Back before he and the Lone Wolf had broken the wall of secrecy surrounding their existance it had been one of his favorite places for shoreleave. Walking in the first thing he noticed was the lighting, dimmer than the bright lights on the rest of the Starbase. All the surfaces were either wood, or a good imitation. He felt, as he always had, as if he had just walked into a pub back home in Scotland. He grabbed a booth in the back where he could watch the door and ordering a Scotch sat back to wait.

"Brian please, so long as I can call you Kur'Dak." Brian said as he signalled for another scotch to be brought over. "I think you'll like it, it's my family's brand, and it's the real stuff too. The owner is an old scotsman and refuses to serve substitutes. But to business, once your ships are repaired, where will you be heading? The services of both your ships and my own are greatly needed in many places. And with all these dreadnoughts running around the chances of victory would be greatly improved if we teamed up. "

I'm not attached to any fleet. Hren'sk, I only met you because I was on patrol within Federation space. I really have no plannes, and no empires. I'm really planning on just warping to whichever system the next battle is in, to help out UFP forces. What of you? Where will you be going?".

"There are currently two operations being planned. One is a strike at Dominion shipyards in the Torros System, the other is an attempt to retake Starbase 232 which fell to the Dominion several days ago. In either case the forces already allocated seem to be enough to ensure victory. However victory will be assured if we can attend the groups. The problem is that both efforts will be going off at once. I'm leaning towards the Torros system myself, simply because it will hurt the Dominion far more than retaking Starbase 232. However, I leave the decision to you. In either case we can expect a hard fight."

I would suggest being careful how you drink it though. It embarasses me to admit it, but the drink you shared with me before was watered down. I wasn't certain of the effect it would have on Klingon biology, so I didn't want to take any chances. The stuff you'll be recieving will be approximately three times as strong. OOC: I know its a bit much, but they were in the middle of Federation space, so they had their shields down and the crew was unprepared. The Dreadnought hit the shield generators first, and damaged them enough so that the starbase shields only came up with 20% power. I was using Starbase 173 as the basis for 232. I did forget to list my losses in that fight, though. Sorry. Two out of the three battleships were destroyed by the station's fire before those batteries were wiped out. The idea here is that the Dreadnought was threatening to kill the civilians onboard, so the command crew had to surrender.
IC: The remaining Dominion forces from Starbase 232 quickly warped away from the Starbase, carrying with them 1000 captives (400 officers, 600 civilians) and slowly moved back to Dominion space. But again..I am outt ahere till Sunday most likely..assume Jelak cloaks at the onset of the reinforcements, but leaves a message to NOT destroy the pirate ship, Con'Meshtan.

"Yes, this does seem so" agreed Kur'Dak, as he started to get up "shall we head to our ships?".
26-11-2003, 17:41
"Agreed." Brian said. "Best of luck. We strike in three days. OK Sam, bring me home." And Brian disappeared in the familer piller of light.
26-11-2003, 21:15
Brian watched as the last of the mines was loaded onto the Lone Wolf. The Dominion had reinforced the Torros system to the point the assembled Federation and Klingon forces couldn't take it. Brian had come up with a plan to turn the odds back in the favor of the allies once again though. Cloaked, the Lone Wolf would lay a dense mine field on one side of the system. Then she would activate her powerful jammers. With any luck most of the Dominion forces would rush out to intercept what they would assume to be an attacking Federation fleet. With any luck they would run straight into the minefield. Either way, while the majority of the Dominion forces were busy with the deception, the combind Federation and Klingon fleet would hit the Shipyards from the opposite direction. With most of the Dominion forces cut off from communication with the system by the Lone Wolf's jammers, the allied fleet should be able to quickly destroy the shipyards and any Dominion forces left behind.
"Brian the last of the mines is onboard and secured."
"Very good Sam, alert the fleet that we're moving out, and tell them to wish us luck."
"Will do, let's get this show on the road."

The Lone Wolf detacted from the Starbase and almost immediately lept into warp, the rest of the fleet would be only a short ways behind and waiting for Brian's signal to attack.
26-11-2003, 21:41
IC: The 47th Fleet, newly reassigned, headed towards the Benzar system at low warp. Currently, a Tal-Shiar directed Romulan battlgroup held the area, so there "was no rush" to get to that particular system.

"Report?" asked Kur'Dak
"All decks reporting at red alert status, captain. Weapons online, shields up. We're still at warp 8, following the Lone Wolf. All expected Federation and Klingon ships have shown. As soon as the Lone Wolf lays her diversion, we'll be ready to jump in." answered Ren'Tok
"Estimated time of arrival? And how many of the Empire's ships have joined us?" asked Kur'Dak
"Four other Klingon Warships have joined the fleet, sir. We should arrive within the hour." Ren'Tok said
"Alright...good. Keep the crew at readiness, and see if you can get a communications link with Brian on the Lone Wolf. I'd like to know what's happening with him at all times." continued Kur'Dak
"Aye sir."
The Kre'Don continued to follow at the for front of the attack force. Things seemed under control, but no one knew what might truly await in the Torros sector.

OOC: Grimdale and FPS, can i join both of you at Torros IV?

OOC: Sure, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

IC: Brian leaned back from the console where he'd been working for the last two hours with the tractor beams laying the mine field and sighed. "OK Sam, that the last of the mines, what's the status of the jammers and cloaking device?"
"Warp Core One has been diverted to provide power to the jammers. The bastards will need to get within spitting distance to get anything out of their sensors. Cloaking device is still stable."
"Alright then, signal the fleet that we're initiating Operation Explosive Garden. Then bring up the jammers at full power."
"Signal sent, jammers are hot." A few minutes later. "I'm reading multipule Dominion warp signatures heading in this direction. And from the reads I'm getting from their sensor suites their tactical officers must be beating their heads against their consoles."
Brian gave a smile more suited to a ravenious wolf. "Good, let's show these suckers that they're not the only ones who can be sneaky."
The Dominion fleet arrived and space around the Lone Wolf blossomed into incandesence as one Dominion ship after another slammed into the powerful antimatter mines.
"OK Sam, let's punch it." Brian said as he gave full power to the engines.
Sensors addled by the combination of jamming and explosions, the Dominion ships never saw the Lone Wolf drop her cloak and leap forward. Targeting sensors initally concentrating only on damaged ships, the void was once again filled with antimatter explosions. The stragglers destroyed, the Lone Wolf turned on the few ships that had avoided the minefield. Like a shark among a school of tuna she tore through them, showing no mercy.
"Brian, sensors show all Dominion ships in the area have been destroyed and that the fleet has begun their attack on the shipyards."
"Let's go join the fun then."
With a flash the Lone Wolf went to warp.

OOC: So, Assramistan, how many ships ya got. We've got reinforcements coming in, but as of now we have 9 Galors, 3 Keldons, and 30 light patrol ships of various types in defense of Benzar.

The Cardassian ships flew through the Benzar system in formation towards the Romulan forces attacking the mercenary ship.

"Sir! We've got a distress call from Dominion patrol forces, they've been ambushed at the outer system, just as they were leaving. Romulan ships have destroyed a Dominion dreadnaught!"

Gul Meron wheeled around from the screen to face his subordinant.

"Turn us around Glinn! We must face this new threat!"

"Yes Gul. Orders are going out to the fleet now."

With than the 9 Galor, 3 Keldon, 10 Hideki, and 20 Dominion Attack ships slowed out of warp, and reengaged in the direction of the new threat. The light ships providing picket defense for the 12 Capital ships.

IC: The 47th Fleet, given the confirmation signal by Captian McLeod, heads in-system to inititate the first stage of the plan. The new battlegroup, revamped to 40 ships (all AKira-, Defiant-, and Steamrunner- class) for this dangerous mission, drops out of warp in front of the Dominioin shipdock above Torros IV. Immediately, 10 Jem'Hadar attack ships, 1 dreadnought, 10 Hidekis, and 5 Keldons break off to engage, leaving just under 50 ships defending the shipdock. As long as the 47th Fleet can hold off for just long enough, the Lone Wolf and the Klingon force can demolish both the orbital shipdock and the Dominion base on the surface.
29-11-2003, 22:11
The Dominion dreadnought was the first target for the Lone Wolf. Coming in cloaked she slid into a position just far enough away to avoid black blast from torpedo explosions. The Lone Wolf then demonstrated the true meaning of an alpha strike. The phasers had had the majority of their safties removed and were backed by the full power of a warp core, they blasted forth in wave after wave of destructive energy. The torpedo tubes went into rapid fire and hundreds of torpedos slammed into the unsuspecting ship. Under this onslaught it took mere seconds for the unreinforced rear shields to collapse and armor began to blow away in it's place. Deeper and deeper the fire ate into the massive ship, giving it's crew no time to react. Bulkheads blew and melted away like nothing, crewmembers were simply vaporized, or sucked into space. A final salvo of torpedos slammed into the ship's gigantic warp core and it detonated. Sheets of flame washed over the Lone Wolf's reinforced forward shields and shook the ship violently. The cloaking device failed under such an onslaught of energy. But her shields held frim and with impulse engines pushed to the limits she quickly gained way, bursting through the middle of the still glowing debris field like a phoenix reborn. Several nearby Dominion ships that had been disabled by the explosion were the first to fall prey to her fire.

OOC: Sorry, comp crashed, couldn't post.
IC:
The Klingon fleet, headed by the Kre'Don, began attacking the shipyards from the exact other side of the Lone Wolf. The first shipyard's defenses were minimal...the crew was not at all ready for the attack. The Kre'Don and the other 6 Klingon ships began pooring torpedoes into the station, while using their phasers to cut down the two Galors that had been docked there. The galors died nearly immediatly, their shields had not even been up. However, it would take much more to destroy the shipyard, and the Klingon fleet had soon broken ranks in order to dodge fire from the shipyards defenses.

OOC: I thought ships couldn't have their shields up while cloaked.
IC: The remaining ships barely had time to signal the main battle fleet before the Federation ship's onslaught annihilated them. The Quadrophenia and her escorts quickly changed course to intercept the attacker, dropping out of warp just outside of the Lone Wolf's attack range.

OOC: I thought ships couldn't have their shields up while cloaked.

OOC: First see Nemesis, second, even before the movie came out I did some research, the main reason a ship can't have ships up, or for that matter fire weapons, while cloaked is a lack of power. A problem the Lone Wolf gets around by having one warpcore dedicated to the cloak, one to the shields, one to the weapons, one to the engines, and one for everything else plus auxilary power. Believe me, you're not the first Trek fan I've gone through this discussion with.

IC: The Lone Wolf had started playing cat and mouse with the ships defending the shipyards and the newcomers. Coming in she'd open fire at maximum range with a salvo of torpedos and phaser fire before racing back out of range. With every attack a few more of the defending ships died. Those that attempted to follow the Lone Wolf quickly found out that she carried nearly as many weapons facing aft as she did in other directions.
When the defending ships seemed sufficently thinned out, Brian punched up the Kre'Don on the communications display. "Kur'Dak, can you handle the remaining defenders and the shipyards? It looks like the rest of the fleet could use some help."

Kur'Dak smiled "of course I can, Brian, Good Luck!." The Kre'Don was winning rather easily, few shipyard defenses had come on in time, and even fewer ships had been able to raise shields in time. "If you need anything, just call. Qa'Pla!".

Secure in the knowledge that the shipyards would be taken care of Brian threw the Lone Wolf into the middile of the fight between the Dominion and Federation fleet. Ships began detonating, a pair of attack craft slammed into the Lone Wolf in futile suicide attacks. Suddenly a large force of Federation ships broke out of cloak and fell on the remaining Dominion ships with a vengence. The enemy ships finished, the newcomers formed up away from the earlier Federation forces. Brian brought the Lone Wolf to a position between the origional Federation fleet and the newcomers. Off in the distance he barely noticed as the last of the shipyards was destroyed.

"Sam, please tell me it isn't who I think it is."
"I'm afraid it's them. If Federation ships with cloaking technology weren't proof enough, I've managed to make several positive IDs on some of the ships despite no transponder beacons, one of them's the Benidict Arnold. It's Section 31. Several of the ships have locked targeting sensors on us."
"Damn, damn, damn. Open a hailing channel, all frequencies. Make sure everyone can hear this."
"This is Brian MacLeod, Blackburn, I thought we had an agreement to put off our differences until this conflict was resolved Commadore." Venom dripped from each word.
The communications viewscreen came up with a pop. The man on the other end looking every bit a Starfleet officer. A grin crossed his face. "And since when have we, the true defenders of the ideals the Federation stands for, ever kept an agreement longer than it suited us? However I'm in a charitible mood and am going to give you a chance to hand over the Lone Wolf before I execute my orders to destroy you."
"You claim to stand for the ideals the Federation stands for, but you merely use them as an excuse to commit atrocities. And then you hide behind those ideals, saying that the ends justify the means. I'll remind you that it was your superiors that asked me to put our conflict aside until this war was finished. Not that I'm at all surprised they would go back on their word the second it seemed to their advantage."
"I take it you won't be surrendering then, very well, our conflict ends now. You cannot cloak before we destroy you, you can't run, and you don't have the firepower to take this fleet down before we destroy you." Commadore Blackburn turned to give the order to fire to his tactical officer when Brian spoke again. "You're absolutly right, we will end it now."
Something in Brian's voice caused the Commadore to turn back to the viewscreen. "We might die Commadore, but I'm fairly certain that my shields will long enough for me to hit a certain nice button on my console. A button that just happens to fire every weapon on this ship, all of which just happen to be aimed at your ship. Are you really ready to die Commadore for those ideals?"
For the first time the smerk on Blackburn's face showed signs of faultering. Brian continued. "Oh, and on another note, my antimatter reserves happen to be at near full. As I'm sure you know, most starship explosions are far smaller than they could be since they rarely top all the way up. However I happen to have more than five times the amount of antimatter on board than a fully fuelled Galaxy class. And quite conveniently, all your ships happen to be well within the blast radius." A feral grin now spread across Brian's face. "If I die Blackburn, I'm taking a good sized chunk of Section 31 with me. All loyal Federation ships are to immediately withdraw to Starbase 211. Kur'Dak, I'm afraid you're in the middle of something of a personal bloodfeud. I'd recommend you get your ships to safety as soon as possible. Because there is an excellent chance neither myself, or this puffed up weasel and his fleet will be leaving this system. I think it's a good day to die, how about you Commadore?"

Kur'Dak, still elated over his victory against the shipyards, had been listening to the transmission. It wasn't untill he was let in by Brian's teling him that he must leave that Kur'Dak got to see the Federation Section 31 Commander. And when he did, he re-ordered red alert. He immediatly hailed both ships, to get their attention, and started talking.

"Captain Blackburn, of Section 31. How nice. Did you know section 31 was originally made to fight Klingons, and a possible invasion??" said Kur'Dak, as the Kre'Don and the Klingon fleet came in to back up the Lone Wolf "if you didn't know that, I did. And let me tell you right now, Captain MaLeod and the U.S.S. Lone Wolf are under Klingon protection. If you even try to touch them, you can consider yourself at war with the Klingon empire. That invasion you were trained to stop WILL happen after all it seems.". Kur'Dak closed the transmission, and hoped the federation captain would stand down. He wasn't sure what he had said was true, but it sounded pretty good to him. Not to mention, this human looked like serious P'Tak to Kur'Dak (no pun intended) and Kur'Dak would be damned if such a peice of S'slk killed such a fine federation officer.

"Position the fleet in between the Lone Wolf and the Section 31 fleet. Make it so that in order to kill it, they must hit us first. Contact command, tell them that a Federation fleet has become hostile, and that we may need backup."
02-12-2003, 19:39
"Kur'Dak, I thank you for your help. Stand by." A glance over at Samantha and the transmittion was muted. "Sam get a tightbeam on the Kre'Don, tell them to standby to jump to warp. This is about to get very ugly." Brian turned back to the communications screen and unmuted the connection to Blackburn. "Commadore, you have five seconds to get your fleet out of my sensor range. Otherwise I'll deal with you and Section 31 now rather than wait until the end of this war."
The expression on Blackburns face turned to one of anger. "You dare to threaten me? All ships, fi..."
"Sam, plan Omega MacLeod Short Sword!"
The Lone Wolf jumped to warp but instantly dropped out. Dead in the center of the Section 31 fleet with a precision only Samantha could have managed at such a short range. Weapon ports blazed lethal energy, all of the safties taken off, tractor beams lashed out, grapping unprepared ships and slamming them togeather. Targeting sensors that had only moments before be trained elsewhere struggled to train on where the Lone Wolf was now and not where it had been. Some ships tried to fire back, others attempted to cloak. Three times the Lone Wolf lashed out in anger before jumping back to warp, in the process sweeping by the Klingon ships.
"Kur'Dak, join on me, we're going to see just how fast these vermin can run."
A comm screen popped open and an outraged Commadore Blackburn appeared. "MACLEOD!! You can't get away, all ships pursue at once."
"Go to hell Blackburn." Was Brian's only response. "Sam, set a course for the Nit'arra system, best speed the Klingon ships can manage. Inform Kur'Dak we'll cover the rear."

The Klingon fleet was not as lucky as the Lone Wolf was. All 7 ships were slammed by fire from the Federation fleet. While the amount of firepower was large, the shields on all the ships still held, excepting one. It's shields went down easily, as it had taken the brunt from the dominion, and the ship was now floating completly disabled, escape pods launching out. Kur'Dak leaped from his chair, "All ships, evasive action, break formation...FIRE WHEN READY. Keep a channel open to all fleet ships! Ren'Tok, contact Command. Tell them we have been fired upon by Federation ships!".

"Aye sir" said Ren'Tok as he worked furiously at his communications board. As soon as he had started making the necesary transmissions, Brian's tramsmission to go to warp came in. Kur'Dak immediatly ordered maximum warp, and hailed the Lone Wolf.
"Brian, I can get us up to warp 9 if possible, maybe even push warp 9.5. We're at warp 9 now, but will we need more than that? The information about your fleet's normal ships has been released to us, but does section 31 make them special? At any rate, we'll stay a little bit in front of you, as you wan't to bring up the rear. I shall contact you again in a second, I must talk to command. Qa'pla!".
For about a half a minute, he spoke to Gu'Nam, his direct commander. Within ten minutes, the Klingon empire was ordering Starfleet Command to either pull its section 31 off, or prepare for the Klingon Empire to join the Dominion. Klingons were friendly, but attacking them would be the last mistake ANYONE would make, even the Empire's most trusted ally.
02-12-2003, 21:37
"They tend to be more heavily armed than they're regular Starfleet counterparts and they come with cloaking devices. And don't bother complaining to Starfleet. Section 31's a seperate entity from Starfleet Command entierly. Only a few people outside the organization even know of it's existance. And they are also completely ruthless. Get your ships up front and the Lone Wolf will cover the rear. Head for the Nit'arra system, I'll drop back and keep them busy."

The Lone Wolf dropped back and exchanged fire with the few Section 31 ships that had managed to get to warp. Most of their fleet was still trying to untangle itself from the Lone Wolf's sudden attack. After driving the Section 31 ships back for the moment Brian pushed the Lone Wolf to her limits, driving her well past Warp 9.99. When the Lone Wolf finally dropped out of warp, it was in a system that looked as if it had fallen apart and never quite managed to pull itself back togeather. A dense nebula surrounded an orange star, massive surges of energy jumped through the dust cloud, chunks of rock, some as big as planets drifted through the mess.
Brian smiled, knowing from past experiance that sensors would be useless in the mess. He signaled the Klingon fleet. "Kur'Dak, form your ships up line astern of me and divert all power to shields. Whatever you do, don't lose your lock on the Wolf or you'll never get out of this mess. Despite the damage we inflicted, Section 31 still has almost twice as much fire power as we do and it's spread among a lot more hulls so it's harder to kill. At least this way they'll have to fight on mine, sorry, our turf."
Free Pacific States
03-12-2003, 13:54
Kur'Dak nodded "Alright, all power is now to shields, and we're locked on you. Begin leading us around whenever you wan't, because I'm afraid we're blind out here". The Kre'Don and the Klingon fleet immediatly formed up on the Lone Wolf.
03-12-2003, 16:19
Brian eased the Lone Wolf into the mess, his eyes not on the now useless scanners, but on a 3D grid on one of his screens. Whenever it said to do so he would make a correction to his course. Behind him, the Klingon ships were barely detectible through all the interference. On either side massive swirling vortexes of hot gas and energy often appeared and Brian would have to fight to keep the Lone Wolf on course. Energy constantly played over the shields and the ship shook nearly nonstop. At last, the small group of ships broke into a strangly calm and clear area. Nothing at all was in it accept for a goodsized structure that looked to be a station of some sort. Brian collapsed limply back into his seat, exausted by the effort needed to pilot the ship safetly to this point. Looking at the screen behind him he counted until the last of the Klingon ships appeared out of the swirling gas clouds.
"Kur'Dak, I'd like to welcome you and your men to Den One. It's not much, but we should be able to make repairs and resupply before we deal with the remainder of that Section 31 fleet.

OOC: Okay, I know this one isn't as good as usual, but it's the fourth try, the first three having been deleted. And sorry for not being able to italisize the ship names and stuff, but I don't want to have to go over to word to do it.
IC:
Kur'Dak sat down for the first time in about an hour. "Some repairs would be appreciated. Most of the fleet, including the Kre'Don, hasn't taken much damage, and probably won't need to dock. I'm planning to anyway, if there is space, I'd like to take a look around. Anyways, the Qak'Ler has been severely damaged. She was originally disabled at the Torros system, and had to use all emergency power, including life support power, to keep up with the fleet. We need to get the Qak'Ler docked to Den One as soon as possible so the crew can get off." said Kur'Dak, even as he looked over damage control reports.

"As for the Section 31 fleet, well...things aren't looking as well. Command informed me that a fleet of Klingon ships is massing, but it won't be able to come for at least twelve hours. How long can we count on being safe in here?" asked Kur'Dak. He was seriously worried about the Klingon fleet, especially the Qak'Ler. This battle would be a long and glorious one, but they were simply fighting Dishonorable Wanna-be Federation P'Tak. Today was NOT a good day to die.
03-12-2003, 20:26
"I'm glad to hear that only on of your ships really needs to dock because that's all this place is equipped for. I set it up quite a few years ago to act as a secure automated supply base. Normally it's completely shut down. It only powers up when it's being used. And as for Section 31. Unless they took the time to survey this system and worked to discover paths through that stuff they'll never make it this far. You stray out of one of the relativly safe areas and even the Lone Wolf would quickly be destroyed. I on the other hand devoted a good deal of time in charting the system. I thought we could use this knowledge to launch hit and run strikes against Section 31. If they try and follow us back into that mess," Brian shrugged, "it will be a few less ships we have to deal with. I'm afraid the station isn't equipped with anything remotely approaching Samantha's capabilities, so your crews will have to make their own repairs. The good news is there are enough spare parts and ammuntion stored here to outfit an entire fleet. I'll meet you on the station in twenty minutes time. Brian out."
03-12-2003, 20:36
As Brian finished transporting over, the smell of stall air filled his nostrils, the air recycling systems having not quite finished restarting. Brian frowned as he wondered just how long the soon to be overworked system would manage to remain operational. The station was strictly functional with no frills, ment more to act as a place to store supplies than anything. The sounds of the crew of the Qak'Ler disembarking soon filled his ears. Walking over to one of the crew who appeared to be an engineer he handed him a datapad. "This lists everything we have in storage here, take whatever you need. And try and keep your own life support systems running, the station wasn't designed to handle more than a few dozen people at a time."
03-12-2003, 23:37
The surviving bits of the Dominion fleet, having fled from the wipeout that occured at the shipyards, watched as the Federation and Klingon ships began to fight each other for no apparent reason. The captian of the Quadrophenia smiled. This was good news.
After the Federation-More Federation & Klingons battle, the remaining Dominion fleet swooped forward and, tractor beams at full, scooped up the bits of Section 31's fleet for further study.

Suddenly, another officer walked up, "sir, I'm afraid the Bridge crew is dead. You incharge".
The enjineer looked stunned. He was obviously not ready for the news, "Um...alright, er...if you'll excuse me captain, I have a ship to command.". The enjineer hurried off, giving orders to crew. Even as he disapeared around a corner, Kur'Dak walked up to Brian. "Nice to see you again, Brian" said Kur'Dak. With him was Ren'Tok (who Kur'Dak had come to trust more than any other crewmember).

"Kur'Dak, good to see you, and I'm sorry to have dragged you and your men into this mess." Brian turned to look at Ren'Tok. "Pleased to meet you." Brian turned back to Kur'Dak. "What I can do is supply you with charts that will allow your ships to move around this system. Not very fast, and only by certain routes, but it should give us the ability to pop out, hit Section 31 and fall back. If they try and follow us, the system's energy storms will destroy them. One thing though. Blackburn is mine and mine alone to deal with. Me and Samantha have an old score to settle with him."
