From: JAC
To: Smolny

With your permission we will immediately send over the 1st and 4th Special Weapons Police brigades, consisting of 1000 SWP officers, 200 APCs, 60 Anti-Fortification Vehicles, and 10 P2H1-Rattlesnake Attack Helicopters each. These will attempt to find and destroy the rebel threat.

A clip from an APoZ article. -- According to a source linked very closely to the presidential palace, a meeting of the advisory committee has convened to weigh the possibilities of offering to send peacekeepers into the troubled nation of Smolny. To quote our source "... as many as 50,000 troops could be considered to be sent to the country [ of Smolny ] should a confirmation of acceptance of our offer be recieved from the current ruling party." Zeltec's armed forces have not been applied to action since the war with Edolia, and have not been on alert since the Iraqstani conflict which threatened to hurl the countries into utter turmoil.

FROM: Foreign Minister Mikhail Kurutsov
TO: Smolny

The Confederacy of Tokarev is currently involved in a war against the communist threat in Likon. However, we do have some police forces available to send over as peacekeepers.

I can immediately send over 50 6-man SWAT teams, all heavily armed with top-of-the-line gear. I can plan to send over more in the future, with 50 LAV-25s when they are delivered.
04-11-2003, 21:17
Perhaps negotiations should be attempted? I will personally fund the delivery of a bunch of roses to each of the faction leaders headquarters with a card stating they are from their counterparts! Not Nobel material, but it could work! :)

Official message from Chairman Vladimir Trotsky

Thank you for all of your offers of aid. I hereby give permission to all nations willing to help against the Communist forces.

Our President was sadly killed and I have been appointed leader of Smolny.

I have also suspended the Smolny Constitution in order to better fight these rebels.

Cornith has fallen to the rebels but we have established the Vorograd Perimeter in an attempt to halt their advance.

Again thank you for your aid and may victory come swiftly for us on this day.

Highes Requards and Thanks,

Chairman Vladimir Trotsky

:: It was very windy on the morning they arrive. The C-17s, C-5s, and C-130s landed like a force of grasshoppers swarming over a field. They came, delivered their payload, and took off again, just enough fuel to make it back to base in Layarteb. Their F-15C and F-16C escorts had landed and refueled, planning to do so once more in the sky about half way back to base by way of KC-10A Extenders.

The infantry and cavalry men lined up in the main briefing area, together with the Special Forces unit. The Airborne personel were already there, having arrived an hour earlier. "Gentlemen listen up!" The Colonel said, "The capital has fallen. The President has been assassinated. We're looking at fierce combat, many of it urban warfare. I will need you at your best out there. This cannot be failed. You'll recieve your individual briefings in a few hours. All I can say that they will not is that your country is proud of you and you are doing the right thing. DISMISSED!"

The soldiers filed out, plenty of them to give the mess cook a very stressful time preparing food and such. Sgt. Tilde, a 60 gunner for the 4th Special Forces lit up a cigarette, "I know I shouldn't smoke these Willson but it's either this or a bullet." Sgt. Willson laughed as he followed over to his Black Hawk crew. The two knew each other from high school and from countless missions where his Black Hawk crew inserted them into scenario after scenario. "Take care man!" Sgt. Tilde nodded as Willson shrugged off to his crew.

Meanwhile, Maj. Bradley, the lead cavalry commander, climbed on top of his M1A1, battle hardened from three major conflicts with seventy kills attributed to it. He looked inside and said his usual routine: "You haven't let me down before, now I don't expect you to do it now solider!"

The wind went all through the day and into the night, kicking up plenty of debris from the tarmac and such. It was now a matter of time when the assault GOs were given. ::

Tokarev will send a peacekeeping force of 3000 soldiers trained in urban warefare with support from 50 LAV-25s
05-11-2003, 21:50
The Zeltecan government has decided on a minimal deployment of peacekeepers, to be carried out at the end of the conflict. However, we will deploy one of our CVXZ carrier-battlegroups into the vicinity within 2 days, so that we may react to any potential war crimes perpetrated by the rebel communists. Any forms of aggression towards our battlegroup will ensure that we begin a large-scale invasion to destroy the offending party.

( Battlegroup will be detailed later today/tonight, when it's decided which group will be deployed)

CVXZ Project:
Power plant - Three Nuclear reactors producing 390,000 horsepower.
Length - 2,000 feet.
Flight Deck Width - 252 feet
Displacement - 200,000 tons
Speed - 30+ knots (about 35mph)
Aircraft - 125
Cost - About 8,900,000,000 $USD

This behemoth of a carrier is almost twice the size of a Nimitz class carrier, and costs twice as much. It can carry over 120 planes which are stored across it's 2,000 foot long flight deck. The crew compliment is about 6,000 and only a few of this model can be built cost-effectively.

Chairman Trotsky had made himself Supreme Commander of the Republican Army and has ordered the largest offensive in Smolny history.

2 million men have moved to the front lines pushing the rebels out of Cornith. With allied support the Smolny forces are continuing their offensive as we speak.

Smolny Spec Ops have successfully captured 2/3 of the rebel leadership and are currently "liquidizing" them.

Continued support is still needed to mop up the remenants of the rebel forces- but the war is won!!!!

The recon marine team from Alpha Company 1st Bn, 1st Marine Div. have had a rough time in Smolny. Gunnery Sgt Dan Jackson visibly observed Smolny's President being executed in a ring of cheering, chanting rebels. The Marines watched in horror as the city closed in around them, the rebels got ever closer. On the night of the 15th, Lt. Mike Peterson makes a decision.
"Men, we've been through a lotta shit together. We've been here, what, a week? We've seen the pres executed, the army leave and the rebels continue their bloody tirade. What then are we to do, we are now surrounded and cut off, but you don't need me to tell you that. The colonel tells us our freinds our on their way aboad the USS Miyanmar. We gotta helluva walk ahead of us and it ain't gona be easy with these little rebel bastards all around us, so men, all i ask is fight and don't stop running until we're in the forest to the South of here, the one we came in by. By god if this ain't some freaky shit." He ended his speech with a grin and a reply from the haggard weary men of 1st Recon.

The 20 men made it to the forest, they took several hits along the way, GnnySgt Jackson probably won't want to sit down for a while.
They are now, sitting in the forest, listening to the sounds of war.
A lone helicopter zooms in close over them, on its way toward Corinth, they can hear bombers and fighter jets.
The warriors all look elated, 1 week of hell and now the waiting, when will it be over the Lt. wonders.

The Apache's took off first, their load of Hellfire's and Stinger's glistening as the sun set that evening. There were four of them, each piloted by some of the best. However, they were of secondary importance. The real importance were the six UH-60Ls being loaded on the tarmac, each with 10 soldiers from the 4th Special Forces Division. The rotar wash kicked up some debris knocked onto the tarmac during the wind that morning but it was nothing that was a danger.

Finally the GO code was given and all 10 helicopters set off to the forest, their mission had finally come. They'd wanted action badly over the past month and now they were going to get it. They were going to relieve Hirgizstan's forces, who were running low on supplies. The sun on the horizon was definitely a gorgeous sight, especially for where they were going.
------------------
At the same time, back at the central base, more GO codes were given. The cavalry was on it's way. The 1st Cavalry Division was raring up to go and with them, the 3rd ID, two regiments worth.
------------------
Back in Layarteb it was farewell's, waves, and tears. The LS Elmont and her task force were departing. She was a big carrier, with plenty of aircraft. She carried with her 12 C-2 Greyhounds, 4 E-2C Hawkeyes, 4 EA-6B Prowlers, 4 EA-18G Growlers, 12 F-14D Tomcats, 18 F/A-18C Hornets, 18 F/A-18E Super Hornets, 2 HH-60s, 8 S-3Bs, and 4 SH-60Fs. They were the first CVBG to go into battle for Layarteb since the Civil War. She brought with her a pair of Ticonderoga class cruisers, 2 AEGIS class destroyers, 2 Guided Missile Frigates, 4 Supply Ships, 1 Iowa class battleship (because nothing says 'I love you' like 16" artillery barrages), 1 Wasp class carrier, with 4 AH-1W Super Cobra's, 12 AV-8B+ Harrier IIs, 9 CH-53s, and 4 UH-1s, 2 Amphibious assault ships, and a plenthora of other ships. The 1st Naval and 1st Marine Airwings had been training for a month straight for this war and now they were going to get it, with all the blood they could ask for!

The landing was hard. The forest was not very suitable for helicopter landings but luckily, they found a clearing, just big enough to land two Black Hawks at once. The scene was surreal. Two Black Hawks would descend down to the ground, only 2 feet off the deck and their troops would deploy. Overhead, the Apaches and the Black Hawks circled, waiting for the enemy. Then the two would take off and two more would land, each taking over the other's role. Finally, when all six were empty they hovered overhead, at 200 feet, waiting for the forces of Hirgizstan to arrive. They agreed to helicopter them behind the lines so that they could be picked up and brought back to base for rearming, regrouping, and refitting.

Then all hell broke loose. Hirgizstan recon platoon were on the run, enemy forces not far behind them with BMPs, APCs, and infantry. It was good they were close. The Apaches sprung into action, using their hellfires against the BMPs and APCs. The trees were a major hindrance but they were learning to cope with the threat, firing when it was just right. The Special Forces Layarteb dropped in were already hundreds of yards away, giving cover to Hirgizstans forces, who were running well and taking no hits, luckily.

60 members of the 4th Special Forces Division, armed with the works, AT-4s, LAWs, mortars, automatic rifles, assault rifles, claymores, grenades, you name it, if they could carry it they did, fought fiercly to extract Hirgizstan's forces. The fight lasted a good fifteen minutes, bullets whizzing all around, mortars crashing down, and grenade fragments splintering trees left and right. In the end though, it was too much for the rebel forces. The Apaches slaughtered their armored units, expending most of their Hellfire ammunition, after all they only carried sixteen a piece. Their 30MM chain guns were still about half full overall and that would be used to escort the Black Hawks back to base.

The Black Hawks landed again in succession, picking up Hirgizstan's forces and taking off again, providing cover with their Miniguns but by then it wasn't much to do. A few RPGs narrowly missed some of the Black Hawks but it was nothing a few bullets from their Miniguns couldn't fix. The last chopper landed, picking up the last few soldiers, among them the commander who smiled and shouted: "Boy am I glad to see you guys!"

The Black Hawk pilot looked back and yelled: "Me too. Now let's get the f*** out of here. Foxtrot 1-1 this is November 2-4, we're loaded and going back."

"November 2-4 we copy, let's go!" The lead Apache pilot gathered his group and they were off, escorting the six Black Hawks back to the rear of the lines to drop off Hirgizstan's forces and then to return to base. The Black Hawks were full again but with Hirgizstan's soldiers and now two of their own. In the fighting, one Ranger was wounded, taking a bullet right through his knee, and another was killed in action, getting tagged by a mortar. Specialist Roger E. Winter, the first KIA since the Civil War, died heroically in battle.

The Black Hawks completed their mission quickly and landed back at the tarmac, to a greeting they could have better enjoyed had they not been transporting a dead soldier back to base.

The cavalry had stood down, for now, ready to go back out when Hirgizstan's forces went back out. They would spot, the cavalry would fire.

Due to the constant fighting in and around Cornith, that has reduced the city of 8 million down to a few survivors, the Smolny Govenment has declared a new permenant capital in Petrograd (pop. 11 million).

Commander Linoviev: Smoke greets us from Cornith on this day Chairman.

Chairman Trotsky: The dream that was once Cornith is now lost. Petrograd is where we shall crush these scum now.

Commander Linoviev: What news from outside our borders?

Chairman Trotsky: Many new allies have faithfully pledged thier support behind us, but a nation known as Hattia has pledged support of the rebels.

Commander Linoviev: What shall we do of them?

Chairman Trotsky: Wipe them out of course. Our R&D Ministry has told me that we have developed our own nuclear weapons technology. Which means that we no longer need to import them from our allies.

Commander Linoviev: When can we deploy them? Where are we deploying them?

Chairman Trotsky: As we speak I am ordering launches on the known headquarters of the rebels and on the major cities of Hattia. May they die a slow and painful death.

*dark man enters the room*

Chairman Trotsky: Who the hell are you?

The Man: Your death. *takes out a pistol*

*Commander Linoviev takes out his own sidearm so swiftly that the dark man is shot and dead before he is able to even point his pistol*

Chairman Trotsky: Thank you Commander. Order the KGB to its highest security level. We must not permit this again.

*both leave the room, stepping over the dead body*

The Armed Korps of North Germania has mobilized its forces into the city of Petrograd, and is using its 12 attack helicopters to defend the capital of the city. The ground came under heavy fire from the rebels; however, the superior Grundkraft beat them out of the city, temporarily, but not without a cost. Several men - though the number is not absolute at the moment, due to the confusion of the urban fighting - were lost and several more wounded. Medical vehicles have taken all dead and wounded North Germanian soldiers out of the city and into a hospital zone created in a remote area outside of the city. 3 Bradley APC's were destroyed in the fighting as well. A few tanks were damaged, but for the most part, the Panzerkorps remained unscathed. Snipers have been assigned to various parts of the city to help maintain perimeters of defense against ground soldiers, and played a large part in removing rebel forces from the city.
The weather played no part against the forces of North Germania, as they were already accustomed to the cold, snowy conditions. A monument is being built in the capital city of North Germania, Veisser, to honor the lives of the Germanian soldiers and Smolnyan civilians and soldiers lost in the struggle. The Armed Korps of North Germania underestimated the strength of the rebels and is sending in a larger assault force to not only Petrograd, but various other parts of the war-torn country and the original capital, to reinstall the Smolnyan government.

The LS Elmont arrived at 2005 hrs exactly yesterday evening. As it docked a cheer went up from the Layartebian forces who were overflown by a number of fighters from the Elmont. As sson as she docked, operations were quickly underway.

The NSH Mayanmar arrived at 0630 this morning. As soon as the ship was at anchor the 1st Marine Div. on board began their landing. A wing of harriers roared off the deck and dissapperead toward Corinth in support of Layarteb's 4th SF div.
The LCAV's of the Hirgizstanian Marines emerged onto the beaches at around 0700, to much merriment from the Corinthian Smolnian refugees.
The hatch of the forward most LCAV opened up and there appeared a head, a typical Jarhead who quickly pointed toward the Layartebian base. The head dissappeared and the hatch closed as the LCAV moved off, leaving the rest of the transports to begin disgorgind troops and supplies.

The men of the Recon Team from A Company 1st Bn, 1st Mar. had had their well-deserved nights rest and the Lt. was busy planning their next mission with a Layartebian Cavalry officer, while the rest of the team watched the Marines come ashore.
A lone LCAV roared into the Cavalry area. The Lt. slowly turned to see the hatch being thrown open and a body emerging. The body was that of Colonel Don Monroe, 1st Marines OIC. He had a cigar wedged into the side of his mouth and looked around with a combat squint.
The Lt. barked ''Marines- a-ten-huh''. and the team quickly got up and shuffled to attention and then saluted. The Colonel then saluted back and jumped off the LCAV moving toward the Lt and the team.
"Good to see you again, sir'' the Lt said.
"It's good to see you Ugly Motherfu**ers aswell, how the hell are ya" growled the Colonel.
"Just fine sir, just fine."
"I ain't here to talk tit with you, i heard Jackson got shot in the ass and i wanted to see that C***sucker, coz he laughed at me when i got shot in ma ass, so i'm guna return the favour." Grinned the Colonel.
"Yes sir."
"Right boys, carry on. The holdiay ain't over yet." He beamed.
"Yes sir." replied the team as one.
The Colonel walked off toward the medical area.

At around 0805 a lone blackhawk appeared less than a mile from the Layartebian and now Hirgizstanian base. It didn't look good. The helo was pouring out black smoke and leaking fluids all over the place, and this was visble from a good bit away.
As the helo neared the runway the pilot realised with much chagrin that the runway was too hard a surface to crash land the Helo. As the heli turned toward a section of clear beach close to the Marines, an ambulance and fire-engine where roaring up the runway. The helo was descending as it came closer to the beach. It got to about 10 feet off the ground over the beach and then it dropped, like an anchor through air. It landed with a mighty, groundshaking thud, throwing up sand. Amazingly the helo stayed in one piece with only one wheel section bending. The helo, now clear to see, looked like a siv, you could see the light pass through sections of the helo, was anyone still alive?
First on the scene was a Hirgizstanian Marine Corpsman. He ran toward the helo, and stopped about 2 feet from the side of the helo when out jumped the Crew Chief. The corpsman stepped toward him and took him under the arms and began to drag him away from the helo which was still leaking fluids. The Chief began to shout "Complete basta**s, god damm it, look at my helicopter", he continued to scream "First they pepper us with 50 cals then they shoot rockets at us, chri** almighty, a siv a bloody siv". He quited down as the corpsman checked out a large gash on his shoulder that looked like a shrapnel wound.

The crew of the helo were all alive. The pilot suffered a broken arm and a bad concussion while the co-pilot fractured his wrist and broke a few fingers. The helo was fully beaten up but was lifted off the beach by a chinook to begin repairs.
Once the Layartebian Cavalry heard about the crasg they told the HMC Recon team to saddle up and get going. The engines of the tanks all kicked to life.

The cavalry was in position to shell the city. It was just a matter of time before the order was given. The artillery would come from 6 M109A6s firing their 155MM HE shells from a range of 12 miles out. Other artillery would come from 6 M270 MLRS units firing their M30 Guided missiles up to a range of 37 miles against enemy armored units and other units. Once the shelling was finished, the regiments 10 Humvees, 8 M1A1s, 8 M2A2s, 8 M113 APCs, and 20 other vehiciles would spring into action with five thousand soldiers along with them from the 3rd ID.

May i ask that can no nation interfere with the combat operations in the region of Corinth for the time being. This is not to tell you to 'go away' or anything of the sort. We need to have nations guarding the new Capitol Petrograd and we will need your forces once Corinth has been taken back.
I ask only because i am concerned about 'freindly fire' accidents that could occur with the hasty inclusion of another nations fighting forces, the Hirgizstanian and Layartebian forces have worked together for years and have an excellent rapor and we only ask for no interference in the interest of the safety of your nations troops and ours.

The Recon Team of A Company, 1st Bn, 1st Marines found themselves going back into action in Corinth, their mission was to be the spotters for the Layartebian artillery. They had a radio with direct links to the Cavalry, artillery and the 3rd ID, essentially the recon team were in charge.

A blackhawk with 'Layartebian Lizards' emblazoned on its side descending below the treetops into a large firebreak in a coniferous forest that seemed to look down on Smolny. From the Heli jumped the now 8 man Recon team with their faces shielded by Balaclava's. 6 of them carried M4's, the 7th man carried an M60E3, and the 8th carried a Barret M82 sniper rifle. The Lt. carried the radio that would provide him the comms he needed to direct the artillery and as such 4 of the men carried 7x50 spotting scopes and the rest carried binoculars.
They knelt on one knee as the blackhawk took off with a thumbs up from the pilot. They listened as the sound of the rotors became distant, until all that could be heard was the rustling of the trees in the wind.
They moved toward their OP that overlooked Smolny from the South, and the artillery would come in from the South East while the attack would come in from the South West. They were extremely vigilant on their way to the OP, it was a point where the rebels may position troops as it was clear vantage point on the city.
As they neared the OP there was a faint 'crack' followed by another a few seconds later. The Lt knew it was twigs breaking and he crouched with the rest of the men. He drew a silence SOCOM pistol and motioned for the men to stay there. He moved off in front of them, paralleling where the sound came from. He stopped behind the foot of a thick tree and scanned the dense forest. He picked out 3 men, all dressed in Green Od's, wearing red scarves and carrying russian equipment. They were standing almost side on with him, while one man had a smoke and another looked like he was goin for a piss on a nearby tree. The Lt smiled as he though how easy this would be.
He moved closer, crouched low with the pistol out in front of him. He came to the foot of another tree, now 15 ft from where the smoker stood, with another man at his side. He began to move when 'crack', he looked down quickly and saw a snapped twig under his left boot. He quickly ducked behind the tree. There was no movement and he could hear loud talking. He edged his face out and saw the men where shouting at the one taking a piss, probably telling him to get a move on. They hadn't heard the twig snap.
The lt decided to take his chances and shoot from where he was. He had to clear these boys out of hear as it looked like they were doing a patrol. He raised his silenced pistol and the red beam of the LAM shot onto the smokers black hair just in front of his right ear lobe. Pssta, came the report from the gun, the lt moved now, toward the second man, just as the smoker was falling to his knees, with grey matter pouring from the side of his head. The Lt. took aim as the rebel tried to unsling his AK, Psst psst psst, the Lt shot him 3 times in the chest, he moaned and collapsed to the side of the smoker. The pisser had turned by now to face the Lt and quickly zipped up his trousers. He made no move to unsling his gun. Instead he began to raise his hand, this was a distraction, with his other hand he quickly made a grab for a pistol that hung on a belt around his waste. The Lt. wasted no time, psst, pssst, psst. Three more shots, the rebels head was cut down to shreds and his chest was hit by the other two shots.
The Lt. reached to his personal radio and quietly said 'All clear.' Within 2 mins the rest of the team had arrived. They quickly moved to the OP.

Having secured the city Petrograd with artillery, machine gun posts,
temporary walls of barbed wire and concrete, positioned snipers, city
patrol guards and a few tanks, as well as having created entrance and
exit borders, the 2nd Armed Korps Division is beginning to lose its original size and offensive forces.

A month and a half after the initial assault and capture of the original capital of Cornith by the rebel forces, and the entering of North Germanian military troops in Smolny, 280 North Germanian soldiers had died and 743 had been injured. Most of the deaths had occured when the Grundkraft first entered the city of Petrograd, expecting light resistance. Instead, they were fired upon from above by RPG's, ambushed, stumbled onto mine fields covered with light rubble, and even attacked by APC's and attack helicopters from foreign nations supporting the rebels. Other losses and injuries occured in wooded areas where guerilla rebel forces has ambushed them there.

Three main battle tanks were destroyed, twelve had been damaged, and nine APC's had been taken out by guerilla rebel soldiers armed with anti-tank weaponry. However, the Germanian Panzerkorps remained virtually inpenetrable by enemy forces. The excellence of the commanders and the tanks themselves proved their worth in battle, destroying over 100 rebel tanks, killing between 400 and 500 rebel soldiers, and capturing over 800. POW camps have been established in the city of Petrograd and several executions of rebel officers have been conducted.

The 3rd and 4th Armed Korps Divisions have been ordered into Smolny by Reich Chancellor Wilhelm Einheit III after receiving news that the rebel forces were much better trained and equipped than originally thought by the Grundkraft. Satellite images have shown that there are several rebel bases in and around the original Smolnyan capital of Cornith, as well as in smaller Smolnyan towns and cities. The remaining elements of the 2nd Korps Division, and the 3rd and 4th Armed Korps Divisions are then to launch a massive assault against the rebel-controlled city of Cornith and reclaim the original capital. After having done so, the city will be secured and an interim government will be briefly established until some form of solid Smolnyan leadership can be established. (OOC: Don't worry, this won't be an Iraq-type deal, haha)

Having heard of these losses, and realizing that the forces that were in Petrograd were not even a fifth of the size of those in Cornith, the Reich Chamber decided to mobilize the 3rd and 4th Armed Korps Divisions.

Inside the Reich Chamber, Reich Chancellor Einheit III and Feldmarshal Rudolf Küll are discussing the conflict in Smolny.

Einheit: You're telling me we've lost 280 men in a month and a half!?

Küll: I'm afraid so, sir....an...and many more have been wounded.

Einheit: Exactly how many, Küll?

Küll: A little over 700. We've also been sent videos of rebel forces torturing and executing our soldiers.

Einheit: This crisis is going to end NOW. Your Grundkraft underestimated these rebels. This fault falls on YOU. I don't trust your judgment any longer in this matter. I order you to mobilize the 3rd and 4th Armed Korps Divisions IMMEDIATELY, have them link up with what's left of the 2nd outside of Petrograd, then advance to Cornith and show these "Rebels" exactly what happens when you torture and execute soldiers from Germania. Don't leave any of them alive. Rudolf, send the SS-Attentäter Group to find and capture the rebel leaders. After they have found them, bring them into custody, and inform me immediately. Your career is resting on this Rudolf, don't forget it.

Küll: Jawohl!

Küll immediately exits the room and storms to the Reichkraft Building to initiate the orders. He would accept failure over death.

The 3rd and 4th Armed Korps Divisions, in combination, both consist of:

300 Leopard 2 MBT's

120 Leopard 2A5 Tanks

100 Challenger 2 MBT's

60 M103 Heavy Tanks

90 M2 Bradley's

130 M3A2 Bradley's

100 Avenger SAM systems

100 M-48 Chaparral Mobile SAM Launchers

34,000 troops armed with H&K G36 assault rifles

30,000 troops armed with H&K G3A4 assault rifles

4,000 troops armed with FN Mk 48 Mod 0 machine guns

3,000 troops armed with H&K MG-43 machine guns

2,000 troops armed with M98A1 Javelin anti-tank guns

6,000 troops armed with Panzerfaust 3 anti-tank guns

400 snipers armed with H&K MSG-90A1 sniper rifles and
H&K PSG-1 sniper rifles

150 snipers armed with Barrett M82A1 Anti-Material sniper rifles

500 troops armed with M220 TOW's

150 M200 200mm Mobile Artillery guns

100 M777 Towed Howitzers

50 Crusader Tracked Mobile Artillery Systems

90 M-56 Straight-Flush Mobile Radars.
___________________________________________

The Reich Chamber has also launched:

13 Iowa Class Battleships

18 SeaWolf Class Attack Subs

6 Clauswitz Class Frigates

4 Glücker Hospital Ships

4 Los Angeles Class Attack Subs

3 "Cygnus" Class Strike Carriers
(Each carrier contains 20 MiL-1 Fighter/Bombers and 10 MiG-33 Fighters.)

These vessels have been deployed to protect the nation's coastlines and have been set there STRICTLY to defend the waters of Smolny against any rebel jets, naval vessels, or to attack coastal rebel bases. The carriers have been placed to launch an initial air attack on the rebel-controlled city of Cornith. 7 B-52 bombers will be flying in from the capital city of North Germania, Veisser, to bomb select locations in and around Cornith.

The troops have been mobilized and due to the near proximity of Smolny to North Germania, they should arrive at the coordination point in around 14 days of travel. A safe travel route has been established by elements of the 2nd Armed Korps Division. Several fuel tankers as well as cargo trucks and armored personnel transports will be moving with the 3rd and 4th Armed Korps Divisions. All original tank shells have been replaced with the M828 APFSDS-T Round (Depleted Uranium Tipped). All ammo for troops using assault rifles, machine guns, and sniper rifles have also been replaced with depleted uranium tipped rounds.

The People's Rupublic of Da'amfeck has a Foreign Affairs policy of not getting invloved in the conflicts of other nations. However, the People feel that they have a moral obligation to help keep the peace. If the nation in question would like it, the Republic can send thirty to forty Compellor battle-tanks (tech level: around 2010) in dropships, which can arrive within the hour. If you wish to see specifications and diagrams of the Compellor battle-tank, they can be obtained by visiting this (www.freewebs.com/paysebasin/prdaamfeck.htm) website and scrolling to the bottom.
The Compellor battle-tank is also up for sale, at a price of 5.2 million Da'amfeckian Dollars (3.2 million USD) per tank. If any nation wishes to purchase a Compellor, or have a question concerning them, send a telegram to the People's Republic of Da'amfeck (in the Payse Basin Nations region). Thank you, and peace be with you, comrades.

Prime Minister Sir Jone Nallison Ma'ar-aquise Main-co'am of the Order of Yosef Ztalin.

*transmission from Donesk capital of Sorangrad*

The offensive that was launched in Smolny days ago has begun to falter. The rebels have built a trench system and have begun to dig in.

The Smolny Government has claimed a casus belli on Pilot and Hattia. If they continue to show support for the rebels, Chairman Trotsky will have no choice but to declare war on them.

Democracy within the Republic has all but disappeared, the citizens live in fear of the Cheka coming to their homes and accusing them of treason. Trotsky has become paranoid since the last assassination attempt on him.

2 Days Later:

Due to the Chairman's lack of ability, the destruction of Cornith, and the lose of ground to the rebels a Executive Council has been proclaimed by the people and has "disposed" of the Chairman.

The Executive Council was proclaimed by the minorities of Smolny who happen to more Doneskian than Smolnites.

The Council, which consists of Donesk nationals, has also reestablished the long-dead monarchy of Smolny that fell 200 years ago under the leadership of the House of Seveskov, which is currently the head of government in the nation of Donesk.

In effect the House of Seveskov rules two nations, the Republic of Smolny and the Empire of Donesk. Complete union of the two nations remains to be seen.

The current monarch of the House of Seveskov is Czar Soran N. Seveskov of Donesk. The Executive Council has given him absolute authority over the remains of the government.

The Imperial Royal Navy of Donesk and the Imperial Royal Army of Donesk has begun to mobilize forces to be sent into Smolny.

The Czar also requests that all allies of Smolny send a report to the Central Command in Donesk, so that he may better know how dire the situation is in Smolny.

Battle Sectors are also being assigned to those nations that are willing to fight in them for the good of wiping out the rebels. Please Contact Donesk Central Command via telegram to Donesk.

*end of transmission*
10-11-2003, 16:30
Later that week:

Marching Soviet-style, the Imperial Royal Army of Donesk enters Petrograd in hopes of further securing the city from rebel control.

With 2/3 of Smolny under rebel control, Donesk hopes to stop the rebels from establishing a Communist government in Donesk's neighbor.

It shall be seen what happens from here.

OOC: For the information of Da'amfeck of my military: Most of that military power was given to me for use in Smolny by Teutonland, Syncomp15, The Neue Weimar, Veinland, and New Order of Communism. They themselves were busy and would not personally involve themselves, but being my allies agreed to assist in the matter. A very large ally of mine has also given me much economic assistance for use in military purchases. Several more of my allies also have given me loans in the past to purchase the said military equipment. And my population is 62 million, with a Powerhouse economy. But thanks for the concern. Also agree this thread needs a conclusion soon.

IC: North Germania agrees and will transfer its forces to another sector of Smolny to battle the rebels there. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Armed Korps Divisions have been re-assigned to the Northeastern sector of Smolny to destroy any and all remaining rebel bases. To avoid friendly-fire incidences with Layarteb and Hirgizstan, the ground forces of North Germania will keep in frequent contact with the previously mentioned two nations to inform them of troop movements, rebel locations, as well as offers of medical assistance. It appears that the rebellion is drawing to an end very quickly, thanks to the brave soldiers and citizens of not only Smolny, but of all the nations who volunteered their military aid in the country's crisis.

On the Northern Front of Smolny, Germanian forces were battling the last remnants of the rebels in that area. North Germanian casualties were light and the Panzerkorps, along with the Artillery, pounded the rebel bases into rubble with astonishing speed. The morale of the rebel forces had diminished greatly in the past month's events. They had almost lost their will to fight. North Germanian forces sped over their remaining large groups of troops with little difficulty. The ambushes were becoming less frequent, as more and more rebel soldiers were being transferred to Corinth to battle against the forces of Layarteb and Hirgizstan, who were assaulting the city and the rebel forces surrounding it with amazing agility and versatility. Having done their job, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Armed Korps Divisions returned to North Germania. The SS Attentäter group remained behind to capture any rebel leaders and bring them to North Germania for "interrogation". The North Germanian guards and defenses will remain until all of the rebel forces are beaten, at which time North Germania will take down the walls and remove all of its forces.

The sun had set no more than six minutes before the artillery barrage began. From outside the capital, Layarteb M109A6 Paladin guns began unleashed a horrish barrage of artillery fire against the capital. They were assisted by navy battleships firing their massive 16" guns and by other ships using 5" guns. Shells would rain down over the city for the next hour, pummelling trenches, headquarters, and anything else deemed hostile. Hirgizstan's recon platoon did a great job spotting for the artillery, now it was up to the artillery to make their shells hit.

Elements of the Layarteb 4rd SF division, Rangers, were in the city, watching the artillery rain down on enemy positions, further spotting and watching for the artillery units. The sector was clear of friendly units not aware of the barrage and any friendly units in the sector were perched high in buildings and elsewhere to avoid the fire.

The assault of the capital had begun.

After an hour of straight artillery barraging, the city of Corinth is in even more ruins then before. Rangers inside the city report massive destruction and significant loss of life. Luckily, most of the city had fled when the rebels took over and gained the city. We're estimating a loss of 200 civilians and an impressive 3,000 rebels, roughly. We estimate a stronghold of over 15,000 rebels in the city at the time of the artillery so we expect anywhere between 12,000 to roughly 18,000 left. Navy and Air Force jets flying overhead reconnaissance will furthermore conduct raids and bombings against rebel forces. Awaiting further orders from Hirgizstan.

2 million troops from the Imperial Royal Army, Royal Marines and the NKVD have been sent to Smolny and stationed throughout the Free Zone of Smolny- Armoured support is being left to the Allies

Donesk issues further warning to Pilot and Hattia that if they fail to withdraw their troops from Smolny, war will be declared by Donesk.

High General Leonid Voroshilov of the Imperial Royal Army arrives in Petrograd to aid the Smolny officer corps in reviving their faltering fronts.

Grand Admiral Nikolai Slukov arrives on Everonian command vessel to offer his assistance to them.

Czar Soran N. Seveskov creates the Allied Command of Smolny with Donesk at its head- allied nations are asked to send 2 officers to the Command so that orders can be created more efficently.

The partisan group Free Smolny has launched a campaign of hit-and-fade against the rebels inside their territory under the leadership of the Smolnite Lev Trevosk.

'Now you've all had your briefings, you all know what we need to do, we will assault from the West and we will not stop until we meet in the city centre with the Layatebian forces, we've fought alongside em before, y'all know what they look like, so don't go shootin em alright.'
'Now lets go get the little commie bast*rds, take no prisoners. NOW GO KICK SOME ASS.' The Colonel stood still as the assault force rushed past his LCAV to their waiting ones.

Air forces consisting of attack helicopters and F-4G Phantoms dropped their own ordnance on the city. Over the course of the bombardment, over 1.4 million pounds of bombs and nearly 31,000 rockets hit the city.

Following the bombardment which literally levelled parts of the city, the Tokarev ground forces deployed from their amphibious landing craft.

80,000 men with armored support of 600 T-98Es, 50 Challenger IIs, 100 LAV-25s, 20 Humvee Losats, 50 ADATS, and 1000 Humvee 50mm machine guns. Heavy machine gun fire and shells bursted against trouble areas as the troops marched into the city, the landing craft providing covering fire in the form of 100 40mm grenade launchers, 4400 machine guns of various calibres, and 200 3-inch guns.

After the naval barrage, followed soon by the peppering by the landing craft, resistance was minimal, though eight humvees, three T-98Es, 5 LAV-25s, two amphibious landing craft, and 70 men were lost in the first couple of hours of battle

Admiral Slukov- "Ah yes, she in a fine ship indeed, can you take me to who is in charge comrade Yaltev?"

Officer Yaltev- "Certainly Sir!"

*The two men walk across the deck, and make their way to the stairs to the command room.*

Soldier- "Officer on deck!"

General Troska- "Welcome Admiral Slukov, how was your ride?"

Admiral Slukov- "Very smooth, those kamov choppers ride very quietly, but that is not why I am here today comrade Troska. I bring battle orders from Donesk command. Your forces are to clear out the Cornithian Range, just west of the present beachhead you have established. Over the steppes is one of the largest cities behind enemy territory. You must clear out that range general, our forces are depending on you."

General Troska- "I understand comrade Slukov, is there anything else?"

Admiral Slukov- "Ah yes, two more thing. Donesk high command asks that you send two of your best officers to a meeting between the nation's commanders. Also, I will assist you with operations in the Cornithian Range, I can send support when needed."

General Troska- "Very well, I will send back Lt. General Alex Vitaly of the Everonian Army and Colonel Marik Spanel of our special forces to the Donesk command."

Admiral Slukov- "Excellent comrade, thankyou for your assistance."

General Troska- "Thankyou sir, the pleasure is all mine."

As the force of cavalry and infantry departed from Layarteb AFB aboard a fury of C-130s, C-5s, C-17s, Boeing 747s, and other assorted transport planes, Lt. Gen. Aruthr Weasely and Maj. Gen. Steven Sinclair boarded their Learjet and departed as well. The route to Smolny wasn't very long and they would arrive in no time. Air support provided by the Air Force & Navy would be consistent enough to keep them secure.

Assistance from many countries were helping to transport the following:

22 Humvees
36 M1A1 Abrams'
20 M1A2 Abrams'
8 M2A2 Bradley IFVs
26 M2A3 Bradley IFVs
16 M6 Bradley Linebackers
6 M109A6 Paladins
28 M113A3 APCs
6 M270 MLRS'
112 5-ton trucks
180 other vehicles
3rd regiment of 3rd ID (1,225 soldiers)
1st Airborne Division Paratroopers (16,000 soldiers)

They would arrive shortly and then proceed to Corinth immediately. They would attack from the south and from the north, with Hirgizstan attacking from the east and the west. The city wasn't going to hold out for very much longer.

0500-1300: Little progress in push inland. Most of this time was spent establishing supply lines and communcations. A small airstrip was captured capable of launching SU-25 Close Air Support planes and Helicopters. Also AN-72 aircraft were able to unload more troops and equipment thanks to the planes excellent STOL abilities.

Cease the bombardment of Petrograd! The city is well under control by North Germanian and Smolnyan forces! Report many losses! Upwards of 500 troops killed, upwards of 800 civilians killed or wounded, plus many tanks lost!

The 1st and 4th Armed Korps Divisions are being sent into the sector of Petrograd with many, many medical and mechanical supplies and reinforcements. Once organization is again maintained, and following repair work and medical assistance, the 1st and 4th Armed Korps Divisions will advance on the southern sector of the Red Zone with unyielding force and drive. There you will see a prime example of Die Grundkraft at its finest, using the infamous Blitzkrieg attack.

North Germania officially accepts the apology of Tokarev and requests a reparational sum of $30 million. The apology alone is enough, but the total deaths of both troops and civilians comes to 1,254, and an offer of payment for damages done was proposed. We thank the high command of Tokarev for putting the admiral in a more administrative position. A strike into the northeastern sector of Smolny is underway. The 1st and 4th Armed Korps Divisions have been given their orders and will operate east of Cornith and northeast of Petrograd. The objectives of the attack are as follows: a) Destroy any and all Rebel bases, b) Gain a square amount of land from the rebels with perimeters of 60 by 60 kilometers, c) Fortity and defend any land captured from the rebels, d) Schultzpolitzei Forces will raid large rebel bases and capture high operative leaders for interrogation.

TO ALL INVOLVED NATIONS: North Germanian forces will be advancing to the Northeast of Smolny. Please note this, as another friendly-fire incident would not be welcomed by the 1st and 4th Armed Korps Divisions. If any nation wishes to form a combined push, arrangements can be made.

Communist-Anarchism's Worker's Militia unseen for days have managed to avoid detection of the Aggressors. They have come to defend the city Petrograd by attacking the left flank of the North Germanian Forces in the north and a seperate liberation force in the south.

Trained in Guerrilla Warfare, they attack where the enemy least expects it and makes sure not to inflict any civilian causilities.

A few minutes later...

Nikolai hopped out of the helicopter and looked around. "This will be a good place." He turned to one of his aides. "Tell the engineers to begin construction of a command post as soon as they are unloaded, and tell Commander Kirov, to get his tanks and establish a perimeter." The aide saluted and walked off. He sat down and opened his bag, withdrawing a laptop computer. He opened it up and sent a message to the Prime Minister notifying him that they had landed.

First, to begin, North Germania thanks The United World States for its brave actions against the Communist rebels. The forces of the United World States have permission to be deployed in the southern sector of the city of Petrograd, which is planned to be attacked by a communist nation supporting the rebel forces, or your forces can be deployed along the Northern Front of Smolny (the area is basically snowy countryside with many hills and a few forest-regions) where North Germanian forces are battling the rebel forces.

- The Empire of North Germania -

To: Communist-Anarchism
From: 6th and 8th Armed Korps Divisions; City of Petrograd

For you to attack North Germania is quite unwise. To attack North Germania in Petrograd is even more unwise. Good luck breaking through the 200mm, 180 mm, 155mm, and MARS Multiple Rocket Launch System artillery positions, not to mention the 300 Leopard 2A6 EX heavy tanks, 250 Leopard 2A5 tanks, and 500 Marder armored assault vehicles in the region. Oh, those 30,000 troops might pose a problem as well. 2 Early Warning Defense Satellites also show us exactly where you are, so our 8 B-52's can drop about 40 tons worth of bombs RIGHT on top of you. We advise you to back away from the city immediately, or face Die Grundkraft and the Lüftwaffe. 120 MiL-1 and MiG-33 Fighter Jets can protect us quite easily from any air assaults. Our Mobile SAM sites in the city have proven to be QUITE effective against enemy fighters and helicopters. We again advise you to stand down.

To: Communist-Anarchism
From: 1st and 4th Armed Korps Divisions, Northern Smolnyan Front

Any attacks on North Germanian forces in the Northern Sector will be met with a full and all-out offensive. We will retaliate with full force. Our assault against the rebels will, with certainty, be put on hold if you attack our forces. Subsequently we will divert both our divisions to fight your troops. Additional divisions from North Germania can be sent to attack you from the south. For your information, one standard Armed Korps Division consists of the following:

150 Leopard 3 Main Battle Tanks

200 Leopard 2A5 Tanks

320 Leopard 2A6 EX Main Battle Tanks

100 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tanks

60 M103 Heavy Tanks

90 M2 Bradley's

300 Marder Fighting Vehicles

130 M3A2 Bradley's

100 Avenger SAM systems

100 M-48 Chaparral Mobile SAM Launchers

34,000 troops armed with H&K G36 assault rifles

30,000 troops armed with H&K G3A4 assault rifles

4,000 troops armed with FN Mk 48 machine guns

3,000 troops armed with H&K MG-43 machine guns

2,000 troops armed with M98A1 Javelin anti-tank guns

6,000 troops armed with Panzerfaust 3 anti-tank guns

400 snipers armed with H&K MSG-90A1 sniper rifles and
H&K PSG-1 sniper rifles

150 snipers armed with Barrett M82A1 Anti-Material sniper rifles

500 troops armed with M220 TOW's (Ground launchers)

150 M200 200mm Mobile Artillery guns

100 M777 Towed Howitzers

50 Crusader Tracked Mobile Artillery Systems

90 M-56 Straight-Flush Mobile Radars

10,000 Schultzpolitzei Special Force Soldiers

It does sound like godmodding, I don't think a 12 day old nation with a population on 36 million, should have that large of a navy, even if you spend more on it. But this is just my opinion. Also, Donesk, you don't have a map of Smolny do you?

OOC: I just typed up a huge manifesto showing you how it isn't godmodding, when I looked back and saw I made a mistake. Maybe I was just tired, I typed up that last message at around midnight, but my fleet should look like this

20 Sydlitz
30 Clauswitz
10 Los Angeles

I do have the proofs of purchases and the mathematical figures showing that I can support that navy. I also feel I have to tell you that my army is only 300,000 men, most of the enlisted are sent to the navy to man my large fleets (technically I can support up to 1.8 million men before I am godmodding)

Corinth was still a rebel stronghold, with approximately 15,000 rebel soldiers fighting. They were armed with the slew of AKs, RPGs, MANPADs, and PKs. However, there was also rebel armor in the city consisting of between 10 and 20 T-62 tanks, 5 - 10 T-80U tanks, and possible some IFVs and APCs. Night would fall in less than 2 hours, which meant they had to get ask quickly as possible inside the city during the daylight and hopefully encounter the resistance and night, where they had the advantage with night vision goggles and FLIR equippment. The 2nd Airborne Division, back at base, consisted of: 8 Apache Longbow's, 4 Commanche's, 8 Kiowa Warriors, and 8 Black Hawk's, all prepped on the TARMAC, armed with Hellfire's, rockets, Stingers, a full gun load, and some fierce pilots. If needed, they could be called in immediately. At a speed of 160 miles per hour, the Apache's would be in the city in 10 minutes and the Commanche's would be in the city in 7.5 minutes flying at speeds of roughly 2.5 miles/minute and 3.3 miles/minute, respectively. The Apache's would come in with eight Hellfire's, four Stingers, a full 1,200 rd 30MM gun load, and two 19-rd rocket pods each. The Commanche's would come in with 8 Hellfire's, 2 Stinger's, 4 19-rd rocket pods, and a full 20MM gunload of 500 rounds.

And so it began, the beginning of the end for Corinth.
-----------------------------------
At sea, Admiral Chester Nimitz XX, onboard the LSS Elmont, got word that the nation of Soviet Canukastan shipping an undisclosed amount of military supplies via air and sea. They expected to be seeing transports soon and were on fully alert. On the deck, F-14s were armed with Sparrow, Sidewinder, and Phoenix missiles. Super Hornets and Hornets were mixed for anti-ship and anti-air, with mixed loads of Harpoons, AMRAAMs, and Sidewinders. The orders were as follows: No Soviet Canukastan aircraft or ships are allowed to enter the the AO and supply rebel forces.

Ticonderoga and Aegis ships prepared to launch their Standard missiles against aircraft as well as using their Harpoons against shipping.

The Amphibious Assault group remained close though, centering on Corinth. They would let the Navy defend as they assisted the Army. Marine AV-8s were armed with cluster bombs, napalm, Mavericks, rockets, Sidewinders, iron bombs, and other air to ground devices. Super Cobras were loaded with TOW missiles and rockets. Marine aircraft were approximately 50 miles away from Corinth, double that of the Airborne aircraft. Super Cobras would take upwards of 16 minutes to arrive whereas Harriers could arrive much quicker, in 4 minutes.

It may not be wise to assign troops around the Southern sector of the city, as an assault is currently underway by Communist-Anarchism against our forces there, and your presence in the Southern Sector might cause some confusion and friendly-fire incidences. However, any support in the Northern Sector is welcome, where it is clear where any attacks are coming from. Informing us that you are dropping behind our lines was a good strategical move, as our forces will not hold any question as to who it is behind them. We applaud your efforts.
The 1st and 4th Armed Korps Divisions are currently staging a major assault against the forces of Communist-Anarchism in the Northern Front. Germanian losses are estimated around 220 with the number of wounded exceeding 530. It is not clear the amount dead on the side of Communist-Anarchism; however, North Germanian forces have moved forward against them at a fast, steady pace. It is estimated that their losses are high and wounded are even higher.

From the Northern Front:

General F.M. Reisser (On a telephone call with Feldmarshal Rudolf Küll: Herr Feldmarshal, we have secured the perimeters with little difficulty and have captured a large amount of enemy forces, mainly Smolnyan rebels, though we have managed to detain a number of Communist-Anarchism soldiers. They have been sent to Prison Camp 4 in Petrograd....yes sir. I understand. Out.

<The sound of artillery shells exploding nearby is heard>

Panzerführer Feldt: Our orders, Herr Reisser?

General F.M. Reisser: The 4th Armed Korps Division is to continue northward. We are to push to the South of Corinth and establish a Command Post. The 1st Armed Korps Division is to stay behind and establish defensive forces. General Schultz has been placed head of all defensive operations outside the city of Petrograd. I have direct orders from Feldmarshal Küll that any Communist-Anarchism prisoners are to be sent to the Prison Camps in Petrograd. Any C.A. forces, Feldt. Is that understood? The rebels are to be sent to the Schultzpolitzei Camps in Petrograd. Execute only high-ranking officers who have killed civilians of Smolny. The rest will be tried in North GermanianFeldmarshal Küll has been urged to increase the speed of rebel defeat by the Reich Chancellor himself. Make sure your Panzer regiment does not go TOO far North. That is all, Feldt.

Panzerführer Feldt: Jawohl!

General F.M. Reisser (On a telephone call with General Schultz): General, you have been placed head of all defensive positions outside of Petrograd. See to it that no rebel or rebel-allied forces enter the sector. Out.

Meanwhile, in the city of Petrograd...

Artillery Commander Gantz: Feldmarshal, the attack by Communist-Anarchism was deflected successfully. Several of our artillery positions were destroyed, but the Panzerkorps maintained to mobilize a push to ensure our defensive positions. However, I have some unfortunate news.

Feldmarshal Küll: And what is that, Gantz?

Generalkommander Gantz: Sir, undetected Rebel and Communist-Anarchism forces managed to get a foothold in the Eastern Sector of Petrograd while our forces concentrated on the break in defenses. Since, there has been much street fighting. Estimated losses on both sides are over 500 already.

Feldmarshal Küll: What do you mean by "already", Herr Gantz?

Gantz: Sir, they breached the region less than an hour ago. Most of the deaths have been civilian, though a fast artillery strike on a Germanian Command Post killed 27 Schultzpolitzei Forces, and around 85 Standarte Bundeswehr Troops have died fighting in the streets. Best guess on the Rebel and Communist-Anarchism forces death toll is around 170 within the city. Outside of the city, their losses have been much heavier.

Feldmarshal Küll: Send 500 Standarte Bundeswehr Troops, 300 Schultzpolitzei troops, 20 Marder Fighting Vehicles, and 15 Leopard 2A6 EX Tanks to push the rebels back out of the city. See to it personally they are removed. How large of an area are we dealing with?

Gantz: About 15 city blocks.

Feldmarshal Küll: Proceed as ordered.

Gantz: Jawohl!

In the Eastern Sector:

North Germanian Schultzpolitzei forces are battling a heavy fire fight against the Communist forces. Machine guns can be heard around every corner. Posted behind sandbags and concrete blockades, North Germanian troops are holding their positions while more Rebel forces enter the sector. Though it has been contained for the moment, the Eastern Sector is quickly becoming a no-man's land, as forces on both sides increase...

As helicopters and aircraft came up the horizon of Corinth, Layarteb soldiers watched and rejoice, the battle was soon to end, or so they think. However, as they come closer, a volley of sonicbooms could be heard from the other side. Lo and behold, it is the infamous airforce of the United Socialist States of Zvarinograd, whose numerical and technological superiority strikes fear into the hearts of men. Hundreds upon hundreds of "Deus ex Machina" (God of Machine) hypermanueverable air superiority fighters danced gracefully as they swarmed upon the incoming aircraft and shot them off the sky. Soon to be followed by bombardments of seventy-five EA-160C strike fighters armed with EAW-12 cruise missles and EA-26B attack helicopters against the land forces. Finished off by fifty "Lynx" hypersonic bombers streaking across the sky at five times the speed of sound, each releasing a single AZ-MCOB-A Massive (55,000 lb) Conventional (non-FAE/TB) Ordnance Bomb tearing clear across the regiments of Layarteb, incinerating everyone in the blast and demoralizing everyone else in it's wake as if they weren't already in fear when thier support aircraft were attacked.

The battle quickly turned around towards the rebel's favour. This was the signature shock and awe campaign of the United Socialist States of Zvarinograd's airforce. Fast, horrifying and deadly.

OOC:
Losses:
55 AZ-SMF-02 "Deus ex Machina" air superiority fighters.
25 EA-160C strike fighters
25 EA-26B attack helicopters
No AZ-SSB-02 "Lynx" hypersonic bombers. (An AMRAAM goes at mach 4, the bomber goes at mach 5. Obviously you can't shoot it down.)

Admiral Brusilov peered out of the bridge of the Kirov, The approaching fleet from Tokarev was too much to fight. He picked up his radio and called for reinforcements. Then he notified the captains of the ships, "We don't have enough ships to fight that fleet, so I am ordering a fighting retreat. Steam at full speed into that fog in front of us, we can't retreat fully, because that would doom the ground forces."

Commander Nikolai was currently running around his newly constructed HQ, "SHIFT THE ARTILLERY OUT TO SEA AND FIRE AT THE ENEMIES" 15 Hattian 155mm guns shifted facing out to sea.

Victor Shurygin, a Mig Squadron leader on the Alexandrov. was sitting on the deck of the ship. All of a sudden, klaxons started blaring and he heard "All pilots to your planes." over the din. He ran over to his Mig-29K and climbed in. He went through the pre-flight check, and was off. His radio crackled to life, "Cover the fleet's retreat. Migs, go after the fighters first and cover the helicopters while they go after the ships."

http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/airdef/mig-29-fulcrum_1.jpg

Commander Kirov (Not related to the person the ship was named after) was sitting inside his T-90 eating a snack. His radio came on. "Kirov, lead all of your forces to Petrograd. Quickly". He poked his head out of his tank, "Get in your vehicles, we are going to Petrograd" he shouted at his men.

Intelligence Offizier Stern: Herr Küll, we have been informed that Zvarinograd has launched a massive air-campaign against our allies in Corinth! We have also received word that Hattia has launched a ground offensive headed towards Petrograd! They have entered the Northern Sector outside the city!

Feldmarshal Rudolf Küll: Scheiße! Tell General Schultz to flank the forces of Hattia from his Eastern Defense Position. Tell him I want MOBILIZATION IMMEDIATELY! In the meantime, prepare the 6th Armed Korps Division to advance to the Northern Sector from Petrograd. I want this attack to stop where it began. Move an additional 10 Leopard 2A5 Main Battle Tanks, 25 Marder Fighting Vehicles and an additional 800 Standarte Bundeswehr Troops to the Eastern Breach. Wire a message to all carriers in the waters of Smolny, place all 6 on Highest Alert Status and ready all aircraft. Make sure the carriers DO NOT launch a retaliation against Zvarinograd. An attack now against their airforce would be suicidal. I want them prepared, not launched. Place all frigates, battleships, and missile ships on highest alert. Put all Mobile SAM sites on highest alert. I will wire a message to the Reich Chancellor informing him of what has happened. That is all, Stern...

The Eastern Breach was getting progressively smaller, as more and more North Germanian troops were moving to defend the city. An artillery attack by 20 Crusader 200mm Guns in the city and 35 155mm artillery pieces had caused severe rebel casualties. The attack also allowed the Panzerkorps to push the forces back four city blocks from whence they came.

Nikolai looked at the crowd of men in front of him. It was a Hat Guard Platoon, Hattia's elite. "Okay men, you are going in behind North Germania's Lines." He pointed to a map laid out on a table. "Once you are back there, your mission is to dirupt enemy supply lines, ambush, just cause general chaos." He outlined a few more details about the area. "Any questions? Good, load up and be in the helicopter in 10 minutes." They smartly saluted, and walked off. Nikolai pulled out his radio "United Socialist States of Zvarinograd, this is High Commander Nikolai of the People's Republic of Hattia, I am requesting that you provide air cover for a helicopter carrying Spec Ops soldiers..."

"All ships, commence firing, target the battleships and carriers"

Shurygin looked around from the cockpit of his MIG-29K, "Nothing". He continued looking around, and got an idea. He peered at the main enemy carrier. It hadn't seemed to get it's planes in the air yet... He veered around and headed for the carrier. Flak started to burst around him. "Almost there..." He moved his plane so his targeting reticle was on the deck, with the enemy planes... "Fire" He fired his missiles...

*Update*

From the Corinthian Range: Little enemy movement noticed. Area seems to be unihabited. Recon troops and spy craft found many abandoned bunkers and other positions. A 12 man squad came in contact with about 8 rebels. Two rebels were killed, and a soldier was wounded. The remaining rebels surrendered after being surrounded by T-90 tanks called in for support. The men are being question now off shore.

Two convoys reported being attacked during transit. A armour column heading for the front came under attack by rebel gunfire. The commander was puzzled why the rebels would fire bullets which they knew would not penetrate the tank's thick armour. The reason was later found, when satchel charges were found on the road, the detantors on them were bad, and the rebels probly fired on the tanks in frustation. The second convoy was a mixed group of ammo/infantry carrying vehicles. It came under attack at 14:35 local time. Three men were killed, and eight others wounded. The rebels fleed and it is unsure if any casualties were inflicted. Two Ural 375's and a UAZ-417 were destroyed.

Three small villages were liberated from rebel control. The first two towns were unoccupied by rebels, although locals said the rebels had left in a hurry only hours ago. In one town, the mayor and his family were kidnapped with the fleeing rebels. The third and largest town, poplation approximatly 1,200 resisted capture. Rebels fired on anything that came near the city. After 6 1/2 hours of fighting, the rebels were routed and most were killed. Losses were put at 17 soldiers dead, 67 wounded. 100+ civilians dead or wounded. 400+ rebels dead. One T-90 was disabled and 2 BTR-80's were destroyed. A Mi-24 was hit by a manpad and forced to make an emergency landing in the red zone. The two pilots are still missing and presumed captured...

Tokarev sent this to me to post at 5:30 EST *6 hours ago* and unfortunately boards prevented me from getting it in now so it will sit as a 5:30 post

"Kapitan Alexie Yevgeny of the "CSS Wolf" looked out over his ship, a modified Hamilton-class Cutter being used for patrol duty, and at the cargo vessel his men were boarding. The ship, which only went by the name "Lir," did not respond to calls and they were forced to fire upon it.

The ship was easily subdued, and now Tokarev marines were searching it. So far resistance had been little, but Yevgeny was worried about the implications of the flag on the ship, which after extensive searching was found to belong to the communist nation of Soviet Canukastan.

Korporal Maiandelev marched onto the bridge and saluted.

'At ease, Korporal. Report.' Yevgeny barked.

Maiandelev nodded smartly and rapped in his clipped, military tones.

'We have confirmed this ship does indeed belong to Canukastan, their were a dozen Canukastani soldiers in the cargo hold. At first inspection there was nothing of interest, just food and medical supplies. Underneath it all, however, we found crates of AK-47s and ammunition. We found about a hundred, and from what we gather from the crew and the ship's log this is only one of many such deliveries being secreted to the rebels.'

OOC: Sorry, my computer is getting replaced so I will not have access to the boards except via my friends computer, which I am on now.

IC: Admiral Kurutsov, on his flagship the Arbalan-class Supercarrier "CSS Olbia" looked through his binoculars as the distant forms of the Hattian fleet. A lieutenent looked up at him,

"They seem to be retreating towards that fog bank, sir. Shall we pursue?"

Kurutsov eyed the situation thoughtfully for a moment.

"No ... split the fleet into two seperate forces. All of our carriers will be escorted by our Halder-class pocket battleships, the Clauswitz-class frigates, and half of the Mansteins. The Rommels will lead the rest of the Mansteins and the Sydlitz-class cruisers. The Los-Angeles subs will go south. Our task force shall sit here in the open, the Los-Angeles will operate at full stealth and go around the fog bank and will attack at our command. The rest of the ships will steam towards the shore. Notify the captains immediately."

Suddenly, he heard the telltale bursting of flak. Startled, he looked up in time to see a pair of missiles smash into the flight deck, destroying an entire flight of attack helicopters preparing for take off. Before he could bark out orders, the enemy battleships and shore artillery began firing.

"Damn. All forces engage! Cruisers and frigates between our fleets, Rommels and Halders silence those artillery batteries. Launch fighters, repeat launch fighters!"

The ship shuddered as more artillery and missiles smashed the flight deck or the surrounding ocean. It was a costly mistake, underestimating the enemy. He vowed he would not do it again.

As one, the Rommels and Halders raised their guns and unleashed a full broadside barrage on the distant shoreline artillery. The attack was blind, as they had to shoot through fog and without rangefinders. However, the sheer power made up for the lack of accuracy, each of the 10 Rommels letting out 72 18-inch shells and 14 14-inch shells, and each of the 15 Halders loosing 24 12-inch and 84 8-inch shells.

Casulaties taken: 20 EA-26s to missiles
5 Clauswitzs to shoreline artillery and battleships

OOC: So far, the only thing I would have done to you is destroyed some coastal artillery, you caught my fleet by surprise and I was only able to loose the aforementioned barrage

PPPPPPHHHHHROOOOOOOMMMMMMM.
'Zvanirograd? What the fuck are they doing here?' Mouthed a Lt. sitting in an OP 100 metres from his company. He locked eyes on a Lyartebian battalion on a hilltop on the South side of the city. They were running for it, firing up at the new arrivals. Then a helicopter came up behind them and PWHOOM, launched two missiles, the streak sending knowing smoke trails back to its source which ducked down again. The missiles exploded with harsh vivacity in the middle of the retreating troops.
'Holy fu*k.' he mouthed silently. Other men from the company had by now come forward and gotten into a position where they could see. All mouths were open, aghast looks on their faces.
'MANPADS UP, NOW!' shouted another officer. As he did soldiers with FIM-92 stinger launchers ran forward, each with 3 tubes each. They began to lock and fire, lock and fire, until all the ammo was gone. The enemy bastar*ds never even saw where it was coming from. Though there were still many flying about.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. A massive explosion rocked the earth. A massive fireball came up from somewhere in the city and a jet roared off, its afterburners blazing.
Meanwhile the Colonel was sitting in an LCAV back at the joint forces base. He was shouting into a radio with a beaten cigar jammed into his mouth.
'Look sir, you don't know what the hell its like down there. The Layartebians are out in the open, they're getting ass fuck*ed for crying out loud. Get the damm planes on the way.'
"We realise your situation colonel, a wing of fighters and helis is prepping up, the rest are on a search and destroy for the Zvan's carrier. We're gona steal his cake over"
"Roger that sir, do it fast damm it, out." The colonel looked of in the distance where ths smoke was rising from, he spat and mumbled, 'Gte the fuck*rs.'

Meanwhile a wing of Harriers with Penguin air-ship missiles was flying South-West, 50 miles off the coast of Smolny, 10 miles inside the Cornthian sector. There loomed large in his HUD an aircraft carrier and what looked like a heliopter-troop ship, similar to what he'd taken off from.
He opened all friendly comms channels: "To all friendly air forces in the area, head South-south-west, 50 miles 553 and 10 miles 224, at 925675 you'll find what i see. Just hear this, we're gona cut down the bee's nest."
He swiched back to the comms of his squadron and prepared to master arm. "Gentleman, Master arm.... lock....FOX 1...MISSILE AWAY." The bulbous penguin dropped from under the plane and powered away, heading toward the conning tower on the aircraft carrier.
The conning tower took a direct hit, the whole top half was pretty much gone, just as 6 more missiles headed toward the carrier.
A wing of F-14's off the Elmont where coming in hot, guided by the fireworks. They armed at the Troop ship, took stock an let loose. They had bigger and better missiles than the harriers but would have to repeat the turns to strafe as they couldn't hover. Missiles streaked away from the F-14's as a number of planes took off from the troop ship, followed by lines of tracer from the Harriers that managed to cut one down as it lifted off, while the one behind it ran into the debris. The missiles hit the troopship on the upper hull, the tip of the conning tower, the fore of the deck and on the middle of the deck. The Carrier was worse off, it was still moving but had a large section of its upper hull cut open, most of its conning tower gone and a useless deck, due to three missile strikes at the aft, fore and middle.

The planes that had taken off ignored the Harriers and F-14s now making strafing runs against the ships, to take out the deck hands and other aircraft. They dissapeared in toward Corinth, probably making kamikaze runs.

Zvarinograd had taken a heavy blow today, 75% or its in-country aircraft were either destroyed or grounded on the carriers and over Corinth. The Carrier and the troop ship were both still moving and would probably make it to base. Zvarinograd had payed dearly.

To North Germania- You seem to have a large Navy in country and i will ask you to please create a defensive perimeter around Smplny, or at least in the South West near to Corinth, thank you. Hirgizstan's own naval forces will not reach the region for a number of days, maybe even weeks, so i beesech your support.

I dare not flood this thread of articles about my technology and relevant posts. I will defend my claims until proven otherwise. That will be all.

Hypersonic, Mach 5 bombers? FAEs that wipe out multiple regiments. No dude that is nowhere near the level of this war. In case you don't notice the fastest aircraft being used are mostly the F-15s at M2.5 and F-22s at M2.2. I simply will not acknowledge it as this is way off thread basis.

OOC: I will ignore Zvarinograd's post too, because his "hyper sonic" bombers are plain rediculous. If anything, this isn't even a modern tech war, we all are using 80's and early 90's technologies. You even stated it was impossible to shoot down your bombers because they were too fast for our missiles. This is godmodding, and will be totaly ignored. Now please leave us to our war.

You are endorsing enemies of this nation. If you do not cease in your deliveries of munitions and other supplies, we will be forced to declare war. I am sure we can work together to end this situation amicably.

You would fight a war with your own people and with our nation? I think you better reconsider your stance on the matter. Don't forget that I am the founding member of the Marxist Pact and I can call on the support of my allies. And let's not forget the VAST difference in population between our countries.

Victor Shurygin looked back at the explosions on the enemy carrier. "Watch out, they are launching their fighters, Red Squadron, move to engage, we have the advantage at close range" He turned and headed back to the fleet to rearm.

Nikolai was running wildly back towards his bunker. There was a huge explosion behind him, lifting him off the ground and throwing him 7 feet forward. A medic ran up and picked him up, carrying him back to the bunker. He sat Nikolai on a cot and tended to his wounds. "A few pieces of shrapnel in your arm, and your foot is broken.

The artillerymen stuck by their guns only stopping if they were killed, because they knew there was no retreat.

4 guns destroyed, 34 soldiers killed or injured. Some artillerymen were injured or killed, so regulars are taking their places, so they can't fire as fast.

The advance through Corinth had met immediate success but was tapering off now. Southern units encountered very heavy resistance from rebel soldiers and armor, losing three trucks, a TOW launcher, and two Humvee's to RPGs and anti-tank fire. But, the enemy was much worse off. The assault force leads, the Abrams', destroyed six T-80Us and a pair of T-72s at maximum range, saving much of the assault units. Infantry fought from house to house practically, as the assault force slowly moved inward, covering roughly a mile every hour. Infantry covering the tanks had seen the most action, the rebels sending RPG group after RPG group. One M1A2 had already sustained six RPG hits to the front but luckily bore little damage. One hundred and one infantry men were dead and another three hundred wounded, leaving fifty-six hundred soldiers.

Airborne helicopters and Marine fighters had been called in by elements from the north and south. They were attacking armor and infantry, as well as a slew of emplaced weapon positions. Mortar fire and artillery fire, being coordinated very precisely between the Rangers and the artillery units around the city was helping to the clear the way ahead of them, though it was limited due to the extremely large number of friendly forces in the area.

On the northern push, things were brutal. About ten miles into the city, assault forces immediately came under fire from everywhere. Apaches and Cobras called in had been the only thing keeping the rebel forces from knocking out 3/4 of the armor. They had already lost a pair of Humvees, an M1A1, and a pair of M2A3s to RPG fire, mines, and one giant hole in the ground, specifically dug to trap the mighty M1. Infantry lossess were double that of the southern front, posting a good two hundred and six by now, with a stagging five hundred wounded. The six thousand man strong infantry that marched into the northern section was now only fifty-three hundred.

Reports from the eastern and western fronts had not come in yet but air support was sent to numerous locations there as well.

Losses (Northern Front)
2 Humvee
1 M1A1
2 M2A3
206 fatalities
500 casualties

Losses (Southern Front)
3 5-ton truck
1 Improved TOW launcher
2 Humvee
101 fatalities
300 casualties

Total Gains
Approximately 15 miles on northern front
Approximately 22 miles on southern front

The Marines driving toward their battle postions in their LCAV's could see and hear over the radio, the Layartebian forces. They were advancing with success but were taking one hell of a beating. The worst thing was 'RPG squads' that, as they heard, were running at the tanks and firing, kamikaze style. The 50 Abrams tanks off the Myanmar were making their way to the front of the LCAV columns, but there were only 50, Layarteb had many more and they were finding it hard.

The Recon platoons (Not Marine Force Recon, just lager company sized platoons.) had reached the farmhouses that skirted the sides of Eastern Corinth. There were no signs of life, possesions were strewn everywhere. The Platoons went to check in with the Assault force on the west, all checked in and the recon platoons on that side had made it into the suburbs encountering a few dirty, demoralised rebel soldiers. The artillery men checked in, along with a Layartebian fighter wing on standby.

The fighting was house-house through alleyways and shops. The Marines fought like warriors, never giving an inch. The losses were nothing compared the those inflicted upon the rebels. The air wing had done its job and was replaced by AH-1W Super Cobra's from the Myanmar that had taken out the fixed emplacements and most of the rebels warsaw pact armour. 2 Abrams tanks (Original Abrams, M1's with 90 mm guns) had been disabled with RPG's fired at the tracks, lesseons learned against the Layartebians obviously.

The dual assault forces, from east and west, met either side of a large river than ran into the city, 15 miles away. They would wait there, they had made it for today. The Marines had lost 12 LCAV's, 156 men and 1 helicopter had to land due to a round through a hydraulics cable. All in all the rebels had taken a hammer to the head, with estimations of over 2000 dead, the artillery had damaged them big time.
The sounds of war drifted from the down the river, but the racousness of the marines drowned it out, they lived it up, for tomorrow they may not be alive to do so. Corinth would soon fall.

*Update*

0700: The airport captured recently has been extended by the Everonian Engineer Corps. The runway is now long enough for air superiority fighters to take off and land.

0900: Shortly after the liberation of a fourth city, the largest in the region, the rebels finally counter-attacked. Thousands of soldiers swarmed the front lines, supported by tanks, and even a few helicopters. Simultaneously, three convoys were ambushed. Power and communication lines were destroyed, cutting off communications to the front line. The small contingent of naval infantry in the city was forced to retreat to more permanent fortifications, and wait for the rebel attack.
http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/modern/russia/inaction/grozny-40.jpg
1030: Rebels assaulted Everonian positions. Artillery and strafing aircraft cut down the first wave of the assault. Helicopter and plane support had to be cancelled, Flak and MANPADs became too much of a threat. The infantry was on its own...
http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/modern/russia/inaction/grozny-59.jpg
1105: Second wave of the assault began, artillery did its best but many got through, soldiers and IFVs opened up on the huge swarm of rebels. While some sectors reported success in the eliminating the rebels, others were overwhelmed. Commanders pleaded for heavy armor support, but the ambushes and bad weather meant nothing would be able to come for hours.

1200: Rebels were clearly routed from the entrenchments, but losses were heavy, and it looked as if more rebels were on the way.

1345: Just as airborne infantry arrived, enemy artillery began landing on Everonian positions. Shortly after, a third rebel wave attacked, this one larger than the last two assaults combined. The airborne ran to positions to assist the grunts. 5 more Bmps were offloaded on the gigantic Mi-26's and were quickly placed in position. Artillery was of little help now, they were low on ammo and the guns were overheating from excessive fire, they would have to wait for atleast thirty minutes before another salvo could be fired.
http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/modern/russia/inaction/grozny-20.jpg

1425: Everonian lines overrun, Commander Vasilli declared "broken line". This meant that everything in the arsenal be thrown at the rebels. Mig-29's, Su-27's, Su-25's, Mi-28's, Mi-24's, and Mi-17's all converged on the front, launching, dropping, and shooting everything they got at the rebels. Tanks that were held up in the mud about 2 km away made makeshift artillery. Counter Batteries of 2S19's tracked artillery made "shoot and scoot" attacks on the rebel artillery.
http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/modern/russia/inaction/grozny-22.jpg
http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/modern/russia/inaction/grozny-23.jpg

1550: It was over, everything lay in waste. Thousands of twisted pieces of metal, bodies, weapons, laid everywhere. The muddy ground turned red from the blood. Everonian forces were victorious, the Corinthian Range was secured, but at a heavy price.

Casualties

2,387 dead
1,347 wounded
8 BTR-80
11 BRDM-2
2 ZSU-23-4 Shilkas
3 BMP-1
4 MT-LB
3 Mi-24
2 Mig-29
1 SU-25
3 T-72M1

Rebel Casualties Exceed 10,000 dead there are just too man dead bodies to count, unknown wounded, 345 captured. Over 60 armored vehicles were destroyed, from T-54/55's to BMP-1's to ZSU-57-2's to BRDM-1's.

Everonian generals are concerned about the rebel weapons. Many were top of the line RPG's and the armor does not look like it was made or captured by rebels. Some of the markings on them look as if other forces possibly supplied them.

We express grievences to the familes and friends of the lost revolutionaries but the fight shall go on. Soviet Canukastan has gone to great lengths to do this... but we have begun smuggling in various advanced weaponary:

45 T-72 tanks with suffiecent mutions, repair tools, spare parts and instuction manuels
40 BMD-3s with sufficient supplies as above
30 SA-N-6 Grumble SAMs with 5 launchers
15 125mm self propelled artillery with spare parts, tools, 300 artillery shells, with instruction manuels on how to operate the vehicle and how to construct homemade artillery shells.
10000 AK-47s with 40000 spare clips of ammo
2500 RPG-7s with 6700 rockets
30 ZSU-57s with sufficient ammo, parts and manuels
$1500000 in various supplies, munitions, spare parts, medical supplies, food, clothing etc...
$1500000 for rebel use

We have gone to GREAT lengths to get all these weapons into rebel hands. All the vehicles are unassembled and all these supplies are being shipped through many different ways. Use them well.

- The Empire of North Germania -

Due to the continuing attacks on North Germanian forces, Die Grundkraft initiated a new battle strategy for the current situation in Petrograd: an all-out Blitzkrieg attack against the Eastern Sector of the city was launched, using a majority of the 4th Armed Korps Division:

150 Leopard 2A6 EX Main Battle Tanks
123 Leopard 2A5 Main Battle Tanks
37 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tanks
10 M6 Heavy Tanks
67 M3A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles
80 Leopard 3 Heavy Tanks
130 Marder Fighting Vehicles
27,000 Standarte Bundeswehr Troops
18,000 Schultzpolitzei Forces
1,000 Syncomp15 Soldiers
20 Crusader 200mm Mobile Artillery Cannons
59 FH-155-1 155mm Towed Artillery Guns
23 MARS Multiple Launch Rocket Systems
25 Eurocopter Attack Helicopters

Including air strikes from 60 MiL-1 Fighter/Bombers from two of the Nimitz Class Carriers based in the waters of Smolny, as well as bombing runs from 18 B-52 bombers originating from airports in North Germania (The airport from whence the bombers were launched is roughly 600 miles West of Petrograd). 60 MiG-33 Fighters were also launched from airports in North Germania, providing complete protection against any counter-airstrikes. The planes launched a full bombardment against all forces surrounding the city of Petrograd, as well as all enemy ground forces in the South and North. The MiL-1 Fighter/Bombers eliminated hundreds of troops and vehicles in the Eastern Sector. Subsequently, bomb runs from B-52 Bombers were carried-out in the said region. The air strike was launched before the ground campaign even began. Rebel, and Rebel-Aligned Nations', losses are estimated to be quite extensive. A best guess could be placed in the region of roughly 2,000 soldiers dead, 350 tanks and other vehicles destroyed, 150 + artillery pieces destroyed. Wounded soldiers could not be estimated.
The Blitzkrieg Attack completely pushed all forces out of Petrograd and crushed all remaining resistance outside of the city. Syncomp15's troops sent to aid North Germania partook in the assault, performing with exceptional combat skills and precision. Estimated enemy losses from the ground campaign were less extensive, as the airstrike had incinerated 60% of enemy forces. A guess could be placed at 900 dead, 320 wounded, 150 captured, 35 tanks destroyed, 40 other various vehicles destroyed. From this point, the 4th Armed Korps Division retaliated against enemy forces in the Northeast, with stunning speed and destruction, flanking enemy forces from behind, while the Armed Korps Divisions, already posted in the area, fought them from the front. The battle is still continuing, though the Blitzkrieg Attack from the South is advancing at a frightening speed.
To prevent confusion and thinly spread forces, the Division posted in the Northern Sector has moved south into the city of Petrograd and is currently securing defenses. Once the enemy forces in the Northeastern Sector have been eliminated, the 4th Armed Korps Division will link up with the 8th Armed Korps Division there. All land between the two regions will be, as of now, unoccupied by Germanian forces, but will regularly be patrolled by MiL-1 and MiG-33 Fighters based from carriers in the waters of Smolny.

North Germanian losses (Petrograd):

9 MiL-1 Fighters
7 MiG-33 Fighters
8 Eurocopter Attack Helicopters
15 Leopard 2A5 Main Battle Tanks
10 Marder Fighting Vehicles
300 Standarte Bundeswehr Soldiers
57 Schultzpolitzei Soldiers
110 Syncomp15 Soldiers

North Germanian losses (Northern Front):

747 Standarte Bundeswehr Soldiers
183 Schultzpolitzei Soldiers
23 Leopard 2A6 EX Tanks
20 Leopard 2A5 Main Battle Tanks
2 M6 Heavy Tanks
10 MiL-1 Fighters
12 MiG-33 Fighters
6 Eurocopter Attack Helicopters
283 Syncomp15 Soldiers

The Northeastern Sector of Smolny and the city of Petrograd are Germanian occupied.

The Kriegsmarine Vessels posted in the waters of Smolny are launching an attack against the Hattian Naval Forces currently battling Hergizstan, as requested by the latter nation.

The force consists of:

10 Brandenburg Class Frigates
18 Seawolf Class Submarines
8 Los Angeles Class Submarines
12 Stockholm Class Missile Boats
2 Ultimatum Class Aircraft Carriers (102 Aircraft Each)

A loud explosion rocked the ship, he looked over and saw the frigate Haton had taken a torpedo hit. "Haton, damage report". "We took a hit below the water line, it isn't very bad we are sealing some of the bottom deck off. The torpedo came from the right, so the sub is over there." Brusilov picked up the intercom. Lt. Zaitzev of the Hat Guard, with his men was in Petrograd. He came up with a plan to disable the enemy air base. He stationed his men in 2 buildings. A few minutes later they spotted a Germanian Supply truck coming down the road. Zaitzev walked out into the road and motioned for the truck to stop. He walked up the the driver, pulled out his silenced pistol and shot him in the face. On seeing this 4 of his men ran out of the building, came around behind the truck and shot the men that were riding in the back.

"Put on their uniforms and put yours in your pack. Search them for anything of value to our mission." He rummaged through the driver's clothes and found an ID card, and some orders. "Ok everyone get in the truck, toss the bodies into the houses."

After driving for a few minutes they came to the perimeter of the airbase. A sentry came up and asked him for his ID, and to see his orders... (Remember: it is dark, so they might have trouble seeing that the driver is not who it is supposed to be.)

Upon the Bundeswehr Patrol Guard asking the driver of the truck, "Warum sind Sie hier? Haben Sie Ihr Personalausweis?", Lt. Zaitzev showed the guard the ID card he had obtained. The guard asked him again, "Sagen Sie mich, warum sind Sie hier?" The Lieutenant paused. There was a very tense moment of silence, and the guard stared at him suspiciously. He spoke again, "Verstehen Sie mich? ... Wer bist du?... Aus den Lastwagen! Jetzt!" The lieutenant removed his pistol and shot the guard in the face. A splatter of blood sprayed in the eyes of the guard next to him. He stumbled backwards clumsily with his hands over his eyes. The lieutenant quickly shot the guard through his hands, and at the same time, the four soldiers in the back of the truck jumped out and started shooting. There was a brief fire fight before a Germanian sniper took out the Lieutenant and Bundeswehr Guards eventually killed the other soldiers. 7 Germanian Guards and 5 Haittian soldiers were killed.

"Let's get out of here, FALL BACK!" He slung his RPG over his back and pulled out his HAR (Hattian Assault Rifle) and started running towards the nearest building... He and 6 others made it. "Damn, what are we going to do now?, someone push something in front of the door" They managed to barracade the building while a sniper and machine gunner on the roof held the enemy back. 'This is Cpl. Petrov, Hat Guards, we need air support or artillery, something!. "Roger that Cpl. this is Mi-24 Red Squadron, we are inbound to your location, we've got some more people on board who might like to join the party!". He looked at his men. "Okay, we are going to hold until they get here. If we are going to die, lets give them hell!"

"Artillery inbound" shells impacted on the Germanian positions, "All tanks, CHARGE!" Kirov's huge T-90s rushed towards the Germanian forces.

This evening we recieved a VHS tape. On the tape two mask men speaking arabic talked for 5 minutes, they then showed two men, in pilot jump suites, still alive but obviously tourtured. The two pilots were of the hind that was shot down in the red zone. Translated, one of the men demands that, "All republican infidels leave the country at once, or these two men will be executed." We are still working on the rest of the tape, but this is the most important part sofar.

Everonia appeals the the coallition for help in the retrieval of these men. Any assistance from North Germania would be thanked, for we believe they are being held in your sector. Perhaps you can assist our special forces in the retrival of our comrades?

Thats what I thought too, I guess muslim extremists or whatever they are are assisting the rebels too. They probably want some kinda role in the new government...

But Everonia will not let that happen, a small task force has been sent to the region, with assistance from germania and others, we hope to find our lost comrades before it is too late!

North Germania agrees. We believe that we have located where the tape originated, through intelligence satellites and spies. I am bringing in the Eliteschultzpolizeikraft for participation in the rescue mission of the two pilots (FYI: The ESPK is basically a suped-up special ops group, trained in every field of military fighting; I use them as bodyguards usually, it just takes way too long to train them and there are too few to be of any real use in the battlefield). The operation will involve 15 ESPK Soldiers air-dropped in an NH-90 Transport Helicopter, to assist your efforts. I've also sent the group a tape of the Schultzpolizei torturing one of their leaders captured in Petrograd. A transport helicopter will be provided for any of your troops.

In Petrograd:

Senior Bundeswehr Guard: Unteroffizier, we have news that there are Hattian forces inside of Petrograd! Reports also indicate that a tank assault has been launched against the border in the Gorbachev District. We believe there are 10 other soldiers located in a building in the Gorbachev District. They got in by commandiering a cargo truck from North Germania. Orders, sir?

Unteroffizier Hecke: Order the Schultzpolizei to assign snipers in 8 positions around the building. As for the building itself, shoot it with artillery! Order the 6th tank regiment to battle the Hattian tanks back. Sie Idioten Bündeswehren! And you hope to be an officer? Aus, jetzt!

Bundeswehr Guard (Clearly embarrassed): Jawohl, Herr Unteroffizier!

In 5 minutes' time, in the quiet darkness of the Gorbachev District, two Pz2000 200mm artillery pieces roll to the front of the abandoned Kremenchug Hotel, where the Hattian soldiers had been spotted, followed by a double-line of 20 Bundeswehr Soldiers, 5 armed with 80mm mortars and 5 armed with Panzerfaust 3 anti-tank weapons. They each fire single, deafening shots into the center and side of the building, revealing a large portion of the inside, and sending pieces of wood, concrete, and slivers of glass flying into the air. A huge cloud of dust fills the air and smoke pours out of the building. Seconds after the blasts, sniper fire hits two of the Bundeswehr Soldiers directly in the head, before the rest take cover behind the artillery and other buildings. Two of the soldiers run to the shelled building and each toss a grenade inside, and quickly cover their ears. Two explosions are heard inside. The soldiers expect that all soldiers within have been killed and begin to walk back to the artillery. Suddenly, an RPG missiles comes shooting from one of the top windows and hits one of the artillery pieces, rendering it useless. Four Bundeswehr troops begin to lay machine gun fire at the window. A grenade is thrown out of another window, exploding next to the other artillery piece, killing two soldiers, but just damaging the left track of the artillery. The gun fires another shot towards the top of the building. There is a silence for a good three minutes....

After the grenade explosion in the guard tower, the machine gunner positioned on top immediately wakes up from his daze and begins to lay heavy fire on the Hattian infantrymen. Several are mowed down in the hail of gunfire before they take cover. The machine gunner grabs his radio, "Herr Schnell! We need help at Gorbachev District Tower 3!! We have tanks and a big group of infantry!" 'On its way, Herr Günther!'

A group of 10 Leopard 2A5 Main Battle Tanks and 3 armored transports, each filled with 15 Schultzpolizei Soldiers, comes tearing down the street and opens fire on the Hattian invaders. Many of the infantry are killed by the initial blasts from the tank guns. As soon as one of the transports begins to unload, it is struck by a T-90 shell and explodes, killing all the soldiers inside. The battle begins...

(OOC: Hope I wasn't too controlling of your forces that time, if I was I'll be sure not to in the future.)

Three Everonian soldiers were patrolling down a small windy road. A Toyota Helix sped by them, dumped out a bag and drove away in a hurry. The soliders were cautious at first, thinking it was a bomb, but then the bag started moving, and a muffled cry could be heard:

Private Holsk- "What is that? It sounds like a man!"

Private Burev- "I ain't opening it! It could be a bomb!"

Corperal Hatik- "You panzies, it could be one of our comrades! Help me open it!"

(The men move towards it, Hatik takes out his knife and cuts open the canvas, there lies Lieutenant Gregov, one of the missing pilots!)

Private Holsk- "Are you okay comrade!?"

Lieutenant Gregov- "I am injured, but not badly, help get me to the nearest base."

Corperal Hatik- "Of course comrade, let us carry you to our UAZ."

Private Burev- "Hey, whats this?"

The ESPK forces dropped on top of the rebel base around 3 in the morning. The only guards were two rebels armed with Ak-47's outside the base. There were two empty bottles of what appeared to be vodka laying next to them. The guards were dead asleep. The ESPK Soldiers glanced at eachother, four of them jumped to the ground and handcuffed and gagged the guards. Two of the ESPK soldiers put on the rebels' outfits and knocked on the building door, yelling in Arabic that there had been soldiers spotted in the woods. Six more rebel troops came running out of the building, also armed with Ak-47's. ESPK Soldiers on the roof opened fire on the rebels with silenced H&K 33E A4 Assault Rifles. They dropped down and entered the building.

Inside the building were four rooms, all full of Ak-47's and RPG's, except one in which muffled cries could be heard. The 11 ESPK Soldiers kicked in the door, and fired off about 15 shots. Four dead rebel soldiers lay on the floor and only one pilot was seated in chair in the middle of the room. He was blindfolded and gagged with a hankerchief. His arms had been tied behind the chair and his legs tied to it. The rebels had taken his shirt off and had apparently been whipping him, with a few knife cuts noticeable. The ESPK Soldiers untied him and returned to the helicopter. It took off with 15 soldiers, plus one brave pilot...

Back at Corithian sector regional HQ:

Soldier- "Right this way comrade Gregov."

The man escorts Gregov and the three who found him to a medical tent, awaiting there are doctors and Colonel Datesk, regional commander, 222th Motor Rifle Brigade.

Datesk- "Welcome back Gregov, sit on this table. (Points to table) While they examine you, I have some questions to ask you."

Gregov- "Go ahead sir."

Datesk- "First, who are these men?"

Hatik- "We are privates Burev, Holsk and Corperal Hatik, 2nd airborne division, Kilo company sir!"

Datesk- "And you found Lieutenant Gregov?"

Burev- "Yessir! And we also found this tape tied to him, we believe it is from the rebels."

Datesk- "Excellent private, may I see the tape? We will be right back Comrade Gregov, just relax for now, I know you have been though much."

(Burev hands Datesk the tape, they go over to a VCR player in another room. Tape plays, grainy black-masked man is on screen)

Datesk- "Do any of you speak arabic?"

Holsk- "I took two years of it in high school, perhaps I can help."

Datesk- "Do your best soldier."

(Half of a minute passes, the tape ends.)

Burev- "That was fast, what did he say?"

Holsk- "From what I can make of it, he demands we leave the country now, or allah will rain down a fury never seen before in this land."

Hatik- "Yeah, and what else it new...?"

Holsk- "Well, from what I can see, he says that his group has taken control of the rebel command. And one more thing, just before the tape cut off he said, "Five will die." "

(Gregov limps into the room)

Datesk- "This is very odd, what does he mean by five will die?"

Gregov- "Civilians, captured men, smolny officials."

Datesk- "What?"

Gregov- "Although my gunner and I were seperated when captured, I was held with many others in a underground bunker, I don't know where, they blindfolded me before taking me there. I was still able to talk to the others in the room, most were government officials or sympethizers to the government."

Datesk- "This worries me much, I will send this tape to high command, all of us will stay here for now. We need to find out what is happening here."

We have your missing pilot. We did not take him directly to Cornith, as we did not have permission to enter the area and were not willing to risk friendly-fire. The pilot was also bleeding pretty heavily from whip slashes and a few knife wounds. He has also suffered a few schrapnel wounds in his leg and a bullet in his right arm. He is being treated at the moment and is in good, stable condition. He was even talking a bit, though I don't think he speaks much German. Luckily, our ESPK Soldiers are made to fluently speak 5 languages of their choosing, and were able to speak with him in Everonian(?). ESPK Unteroffizier Führig: Greetings from ESPK Forces. We have a tape here you may be interested in seeing.

*The officer puts the tape into the VCR*

The tape is white fuzz for a few seconds then clicks over to four men with black masks covering their face with a Smolnyan government official tied to a chair and blindfolded, with blood stains on his shirt. They speak in Arabic, but subtitles have been placed on the bottom of the screen. The first man speaks, and the subtitles read: "This is the former governor of Cornith, Mr. Nomevsky. He was captured when the rebels first entered the city, but gave him to us when we offered our support as a form of thanks. This is what happens to any officials we capture." Another man comes from behind the governor with a knife, places one hand on his forehead and pulls back his head. He puts the knife against the man's throat and slices it open. You hear a gurgling noise for a few seconds before the man dies. The man begins to speak again and the subtitles read: "You took two. There were three. Two, now. This will happen to all officers and officials captured. 8." The tape ends.

Unteroffizier Führig: We are currently missing two Bundeswehr guards in Petrograd. We hope it is not what we think, but who are the other six?

You have our permission to operate in Petrograd if you wish. About 60% of our soldiers speak English, so communication should be little problem. We have had recent problems with enemy soldiers infiltrating the city. As Petrograd is a very large city, with a population of 11 million, it is very difficult to maintain order with the forces we have positioned there. Supreme Command in Veisser, North Germania is unwilling to commit more troops to the region, as they believe it is "well under control". Currently, we have 120,000 troops dispersed throughout the city, serving as both military patrols and a police force. As you most likely already know, concrete barriers as well as barbed-wire fences have been placed all along the land of Petrograd. Any entering or exiting of the city must be through guarded checkpoints that we have established. Guard towers with spotlights and mounted machine guns have also been built on each checkpoint. The citizens and Bundeswehr troops generally get along quite well, though many form friendships and then lose them, as more and more die daily from enemy attacks. Our current losses from just inside the city stand some where around 2,756. Civilian losses are even higher, as many of the rebel attacks aren't even directed at our forces. Our tanks serve little purpose in the city, but are kept for instances such as the recent - where a Hattian tank force penetrated the city walls in the Gorbachev District. There is still much artillery from when general fighting was much higher. Your forces would be more than welcome there. In fact, I think it would be wise to open up an entire sector shared by our two forces, from Cornith to Petrograd. Setting up checkpoints on all roads would prevent many of the assault. Perhaps defense lines could be established as well. The Northeastern sector is still very cluttered and unorganized, as constant guerilla attacks are dividing our forces and sending them in different directions. Feldmarshal Rudolf Küll is considering pulling those forces out of Smolny altogether and bringing in fresh troops to be stationed in Petrograd. In any case, it is good to have you working with our forces.

From what I my interrogators have learned from POW's, it seems that the communist bit was at first very real, but these other folks came in. The local rebels referred them to as “The Foreigners”. They slowly took control of the rebel command and adjusted it to their liking. Not all of them are Arabic speaking. Apparently, they are a multinational group, but many speak Arabic, while others were heard speaking German, Russian, and even English. Whether they really want to install a communist government, or are here for some other purpose it unclear.

The Hattian Base in the Red Zone

Pvt Vlachko was on sentry duty, He was patrolling on the front gate, an old model black Van was driving towards the base. "It's going pretty fast" he thought. Vlachko walked to the gate on motioned for it to stop, it didn't... He raised his rifle and fired a warning shot, it still didn't stop, he took aim and fired at the driver, the driver fell dead and the van came to a stop...

He walked over to it and looked at the driver... then he walked around back and opened the rear door, revealing a large container. "A bomb!" He ran off towards the base.

A few minutes later the Private returned with some engineers to check it out. They opened the container up and looked at the contents, the enginee pulled out a cylindrical container, and looked at it. There was a label on it that read. Sarin 4559825. "Shit, Sarin Gas!"

Notes:
*Petrograd contains around 85,000 North Germanian troops that patrol the city. It also has around 200 various tanks and armored fighting vehicles, as well as about 250 artillery pieces which were installed as defense measures.
*Our forces have put concrete barracades and barbed wire all around the city, except at checkpoints, which have gates and guard towers with machine guns mounted on the top. A few helicopters, 15 MiL-1 fighters, and 6 B-52 bombers are in the airport.
*The naval vessels shown on the map are not the actual number, there are truly much more than that, but for the sake of not putting a bunch of little light blue dots on that pretty map, I just put a few.
*Aircraft from carriers in the Smolnyan Sea patrol the area South of Petrograd and in the Northern Sector frequently

Sorry for the delays, this thread jumped like crazy! From now on I'll include the most up-to-date map with the summary. Quite a turn of events and Layarteb welcomes Hattia to the fight, the good side :)

Now from Corinth.

Layarteb forces advancing from the north and south made significant progress, cornering the last remnants of rebels to within a 20 block by 10 block area. Casulties and fatalties include 20 dead soldiers on both fronts combined and 83 wounded. No armor or vehicles were lost though one AH-64D took a critical hit by an SA-18 and barely made it back to base, sustaining heavy engine damage and will most likely be non-operational for the rest of this conflict.

We are awaiting Hirgizstan forces to finish the containment and the final assault on this last block radius, which will be entirely done by infantry and armor, pushing behind slowly. Rangers will be spearheading the assault with airborne soldiers, snipers given the highest priority.

The largest threats are as follows: RPGs & MANPADs, emplaced weapons, snipers, regular soldiers.

...AWAITING HIRGIZSTAN...

SPECIAL NOTE TO ALL FRIENDLY FORCES
Maintain 20,000 feet or higher when flying over Corinth.
Fly-over rights granted providing you tell us so we don't scramble fighters from our Navy.

'Saddle up, this is the needle through the heart marines, y'all know what to do, get going.' The Colonel jumped down and stepped into the back of his Command LCAV which began to drive off.
The marines were to push the rebels out of the last 20 block stronghold a few miles into Corinth, the Layartebian Rangers would be waiting. Overnight the Marines had encountered sporadic RPG fire and one concentrated assault that killed 2 marines and wounded another 4. The 3000+ marine force were 'salty' and were hungry for some rebels. This was gona be a bad day for the rebels.
The artillery started up as the Marine force moved out, snipers had taken up positions overnight and were already firing on positions, while FO's were bust calling in artillery. A wing of Cobra's flew low over the marines who cheered them on.
The rebels were busy evacuating their positions, they looked haggard and dirty. Some were running, others were walking, yet some just stood still and sank against rubble walls and curled up. The artillery and air strikes from both sides, all four corners of the city, shook the ground over at the Corinthian air base, over 25 miles away. The rebels began to encounter sniper fire from all around, then came the heavy rounds from the LCAV's, RPG's were going off but they were hastily fired and extremely inaccurate, most spiraling into the air and dissappearing.
The rebels were being driven backward, the Hirgizstanian Marines were pushing the massive force into the trap the layartebians had set. Suddenly the rear of the rebels left flank disapeared in a massive explosion, the layartebians had sprung their trap and not a moment too soon, 2 T-72 tanks had arrived from under camo nets in bombed out buildings. A Cobra immediately swooped down and loosed a TOW rocket at one of the tanks, before it turned and was chased by machine gun fire from the other tank, that had just seen its comrade obliterated. The battle was now under way, the rebels were loosing, the Layartebian trap was working to perfection.

During the next hour all resistance was wiped out, hundreds of rebels emerged from buildings, throwing up their hands and shouting 'surrender', tears running down their faces, mixing with the blood and dirt. The city had been taken basically, the Parliament buildings still housed a supposed rebel command centre but they were completely surrounded and would be bombarded all night before an assault the next morning. The Layartebian soldiers met up with the marines, and a night of racous celebration began.

The Marines had lost 1 more helicopter to a MANPADS, and had lost 1 more LCAV, along with 16 other Marines, including one sniper who was spotted by a rebel sharpshooter.
Corinth had finally fallen, the command centre was surrounded.

The city had fallen to their forces. Layarteb forces relaxed and smiled, it was over. Hirgizstan had pushed in from the east and west and their push from the north and south was just too much for the rebels. They surrendered and were immediately searched and taken prisoner, brought back to Layarteb and Hirgizstan bases. They were restrained with zip ties and black hoods covered their faces. Media crews were warned to stay away, there would be no broadcasting of this. They were brought back to the base in trucks, protected by IFVs and Abrams'. Their speed of 42 mph from Corinth to the base detention center was unopposed. Things were looking up!

The cold front is coming through! Storms off the coast are tossing our ships about, making carrier operations very difficult. The storms have dumped over three inches of snow. Ground forces are hunkering down and putting on their cold weather gear.

'You Captitalizt pig, pwoa, you think you defeat us, you know nothing, we wil rise again, curse you basta*ds' This came from a supposed officer from the captured rebels dumped off at the Hirgizstanian base, there were hundreds of them, the rest had been taken to a Layartebian base where some would stay, the rest would be moved on up to Petrograd. Most of them were of Eastern European decent, only there were hispanics, blacks, whites, asians and even a few of middle eastern decent. This had been a big terror orginization. They were highly organized and well trained. There was a distinctive rank system and many of the rebels had russian AN weaponry, along with modernish equipment. In and around various places in Corinth helicopter crews had been chased out, leaving camouflaged Hind helicopters, about 3 in all.

The officer was given a rifle but to the back of his head. He lay squirming on the floor trying to turn over but for the flex cuffs. No media crews were allowed near the Joint Forces bases, the nearest they got was 10 miles away, none were allowed into Corinth either. Some of the rebels had already been executed, not for the sake of it but because they were identified as the officers and rebels who had authorized and carried out executions of Smolnian government ministers. Their bodies were buried and nothing more was said. The rebel soldiers were scared now, they thought they were all next, all except this officer, he would have his moment, then he'd have a beating, he may even be killed once we find out what he was up to. The rebels are well and truly finished, their glorious leaders will be killed tomorrow when the parliament buildings are assaulted.

The situation is desperate and now the time has come... remember men what you do does not officially represent the stance of the Soviet Canukastani Nation, if you are captured our goverement will deny your existence. You get me?

"Sir, we get you sir!"

The large glider gently landed onto the ground... not far from Rout 5, near Cornith the north eastern most artillery block.

a 16 man team quickly left the glider and covered it up with camo netting. The men, armed with kevlar, Silenced assult rifles, SMGs, pistols, sniper rifles, radios, and large packs of explosives.

The team silently converged onto the outskirts of the north east Layarteb artillery base. There was a long tall fence with barbed wire. The entrance has two small towers with a man in each one and six guards near the entrance...

"Ugh... it's so frikken cold eh John?"

"Indeed its- wait a second who is that?"

John pointed at a ragged old man stumply across the road.

"Please.." The old man rasped. "Help I-" He slipped and fell on the icy road.

Four of the guards went to help the man. Meanwhile two silented shots could be scarely heard and the men in the towers fell onto the tower floor. Two more shots came out of nowhere and the two guards at the gates fell down... headless.

Two guards already reached the old man and tried helping him up. The other two were making their way until two shadowy figures came from behind and slit the guards throats.

"Are you alright old man?" Asked John.

"Yes..." replied the old man "But you won't be.."
Suddenly he pulled out a gun and blew John's head off and then pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man's throat. They disposed of the bodies and soon all 16 men came from the cover of darkness. Each tower was manned by a sniper and throughout the night quiet shots could be scarely heard followed by the collaspe of bodies. The rest of the team made their way to the Ammo Storage Areas which contained the munitions for the Artillery guns. Det Packs were set up in these storage areas. While Cyinide in small canisters were opened and thrown into Layarteb barracks. When all that was done the team quickly went away from the base and set off the charges. Massive fireballs were sighted for miles around...

Similar explosions can be heard from bases in the South and North West Layarteb bases...

The fireball sets off alarms at near by Everonian bases. All forces are on high alert...

Colonel Datesk- "Recon, What was that explosion!?"

Mi-2 Pilot- "Sir, it looked like a Layarteb base just exploded, I can see figures fleeing the area, they look like rebels."

Colonel Datesk- "Damn, put all forces on high alert! Get those SAMs ready, reinforce checkpoints, and get some patrols out there!"

Soldiers get up and run for their weapons and vehicles. Fury Squadron, consisting of 6 Mi-24's are sent to find the insurgents.

General Nikolai read the reports about the Layarteb base, "Double the guard, full alert"

Col. Odensk was leading his column of BMP-3s down route 3 towards Petrograd. He looked around at the countryside. "Nice place, too bad we are at war." This was unfortunately the last thing he thought as a sniper's bullet was now lodged in his head... His lifeless body tumbled out of the turret, and onto the road. His gunner shifted the turret to where the bullet came from, A group of bushes, and let loose with his 20mm cannon. A puff of red indicated that he had hit his target. "This isn't the kind of war we were trained to fight" he thought.

A patrolling Hind was flying over central Smolny. A RPG flew up from a patch of forest and impacted with the tail rotor. The pilot looked around frantically and pulled the ejection lever, jettisoning the rotors, him and the gunner. They were rather low so when they hit the ground they were going faster than they should have been. The pilots leg was broken but the gunner was fine. "Go and get some help, I'll hold them off" The gunner ran off. The pilot pulled out his .45 pistol... He heard steps to his right, managed to turn around and took aim, a rebel walked out of the brush, Bang! A bullet from the pilot's gun left him with a hole in his face. Another one came running out, only to meet the same fate... The pilot heard steps behind him but couldn't turn. He got an AK-47 butt to the back of his head...

Goddamn it is cold! exlaimed Private Petrov, freezing next to his BRDM, in the middle of nowhere just off of route 5. "No, its not cold Petrov, if anything, its hot!" his gunner said mockingly sitting in the Brdm. "I would like to see you outside Boris!" Petrov yelled. "Nah, I like it in here," He replied. "Fine, stay in there, but tomarrow you guard outside!" Just then, he sees some movement in the bushes about 200 meteres away. He pulls out binoculars; He sees a team of about 16 men, uncovering something hidden in the forest. "Could this be the sabtage team the commander was warning us about?" He thinks. "Boris, hand me the radio, I need command..."

Radar operator- "Fury leader, this is papa bear, we have new orders."

Fury 6- "This is fury leader, go ahead."

Radar operator- "Your squadron is to proceed to grid reference Alpha Foxtrot sixteen, a patrol spotted enemy movement, this could be the group that blew up the Layarteb base, proceed with extream caution."

Fury 6- "Understood papa bear, proceeding with mission, out."

General Nikolai was attempting to drive through the snow in his new electric wheelchair, without much sucess "Ahh. I hate snow." A soldier noticed this and wheeled him over to the BRDM. "Thanks soldier" He crawled up in the back of it and waited for the driver to get there...

A few minutes later

The driver hopped into the drivers seat. "To Petrograd right?" Nikolai replied "Yes, now get moving it's too cold in here." The BRDM pulled out of the base and went down the road. After a few minutes of driving they sighted 4 BMPs in a square formation, there was another one about 20yards forward on the road burning. "What the hell is going on there?" The driver drove the vehicle closer. "Let me out!" Nikolai slid out of the back and into his wheelchair and started rolling to the BMPs.

He could hear the occasionaly ping of bullets bouncing off of the armoured hulls of the BMPs. He rolled up to someone who was apparently a Lt. "What are you doing here? I sent you to Petrograd!" "Sir, they blew up the forward BMP and it blocked the road, and the snow is too deep to cross." Nikolai glared at the man, even though he was in a wheelchair it made the Lt. look around nervously. "Why don't you just ram it off the road?" "Won't that damage our vehicles sir? And it could blow up". "Yes, but I think another RPG will damage them even more, and you are in more danger sitting here than if it were to explode" The Lt. looked around and shouted for them to ram it off the road. "Newbies" thought Nikolai "Why don't they teach them practical things in the Academy?"

A North Germanian patrol convoy of 6 Marder Fighting Vehicles was heading up Route 3 when they spotted some movement in the small forest patch to their 2 o'clock.

Unteroffizier Rasche: Everonian BRDM, this is North Germanian convoy. We are around 30 kilometers to your south, are there any allied troops in our area?

The vehicles came to a stop and waited for a reply. Suddenly, gun fire ahead is heard and the convoy comes under machine gun fire. The spotters duck inside the vehicle and close the hatches. The soldiers keep firing. The Marder Vehicles fire back at the forest.

Unteroffizier Rasche: Don't they know we're in armored vehicles?

Suddenly, an RPG flies at them from the left and just barely flies over their Marder.

Driver: It's an ambush!

The Bundeswehr Patrol Guards exited the vehicles. The fourteen soldiers began to run into the small forest patch, approaching the area quickly. Behind them, they could hear Marder armored vehicle fire and then two explosions. They dove down into the snow and set their targets on where the RPG missiles had come. The scopes on their H&K 36's helped immensely. They could see the dark outline of what appeard to be around 6 or 7 rebel soldiers. The rebels exited the woods and approached the column. All of the vehicles were disabled and wounded Germanian gunners exited the vehicles with their hands up. Just before the rebels got to the gunner, Unteroffizier Hecke opened fire. The rest of the men fired. The rebel soldiers fell to the ground and the gunners hide behind the Marders as more machine gun fire came from the position on their right. The soldiers in the forest advanced on their stomachs, slowly, keeping their eyes in the optical sights. They stopped. Movement could be seen ahead.

Unteroffizier Hecke: Open fire!

All the soldiers began firing in unison and the movement ahead of them stopped. They walked towards it slowly, and saw a dead boar.

Bundeswehr Soldier Freising: Jesus. It's just a damn pig.

Suddenly they heard soldiers speaking Russian through the forest to their left.

Unteroffizier Hecke: Every one down!

They dropped to the ground and watched as 6 rebels approached the convoy.

Hecke: Wait until they're behind us, then turn around and open fire.

They did as they were told and just as they fired, the Marders began firing through the forest just in front of them.

Bundeswehr Soldier Erwin: Scheiße!! Our convoy is firing on us!

The soldiers stood up and ran further into the woods out of all visibility, while Marder rounds were hitting the trees all around them. A Germanian soldier was hit, and fell to the ground, dead. The snow underneath him melted red. Several others were hit and wounded. The group stopped and radioed to the vehicles, but got no response, while a medic helped the injured soldiers.

Hecke: This is Unteroffizier Hecke, we are not the enemy!

A man with a thick Russian accent responded through the radio: Yes, you are. We have your vehicles. You're surrounded. Surrender now.

Back on route five, the BRDM patrol heard the fire from the figthing. Once again they radioed into command what they were hearing.

Private Petrov- "Commander! We hear cannon fire coming from across the plain, we think our Germainian friends are in trouble."

Colonel Datesk- "Understood soldier, we weill take it from here, you keep watching those men until further notice, papa bear out."

(The colonel walks over to a radio operator)

Datesk- "What do we have already airborne in the region sargeant?"

Radio operator- "Only Fury squadron, they heading to the suspected sabetour forces."

Datesk- "Damn, we need those hinds, but so go the germans, get me fury leader on the horn."

Datesk- "Fury leader, this is papa bear, do you read me, over?"

Fury 6- "This is fury leader, I hear you loud and clear comrade."

Datesk- "Captain, I need you to divert three of your hinds to route 5, our germanian friends are having trouble, from what we have learned, rebels have taken control of maurder IFV's and our using them against their past owners."

Fury 6- "Very well commander, I will do as you say, Fury six over and out."

Fury 6 (Squad radio)- "Alright boys, listen up, Fury 2,3, and 5, break off and head for route 5, help out our comrades there, fury 1, 4 and I will continue to target location, you have lead Fury 2."

Unteroffizier Hecke: Whose are those? <Bullets strike the side of his helmet and grazed off, he ducked> Verdammen! We need help! We're too far away to reach base at Petrograd, the only radio that can reach them is in the convoy!

Suddenly, there are tens and tens of explosions. The rebels stop firing and begin running back to the convoy.

OOC: Uh okay so all of my bases just got blown up by a 6-man team and I have no say in the matter....We have to improvise this a little bit.

Okay so I'll go along with my bases being totally knocked out, artillery ones that is around Corinth. Hell it'll let me be really brutal right here.

"Sir, we lost our four artillery bases around Corinth to Spec Ops sir." Maj. Gen. John Ritters announced at the CENTCOM meeting.

"What's the casualty report and such?" Gen. Baxter asked.

"Looks like total sir. It was most likely Soviet Canukastan, they are the only force supplying what's left of the rebels near Mt. Bludevka. We've had elements of the 1st Black Operations unit on the ground since the war begun. They left Corinth when the infantry arrived and set out for the mountain. There, they have been blowing up trains, vehicles, and other supply units by Soviet Canukastan to the rebels. I can tell you that not much has gotten through. However, they do report an operational airfield with artillery and armor."

"Very well Ritters, what do you recommend as our course of action?"

"Well given they used cynaide in our tents and against our people, I say we blanket the whole area with VX but you know we can't do that."

"No, we can't. What bombers are on alert?"

"All of them sir, fully loaded with JDAM and iron munitions. We don't have any cruise missiles on them though as we aren't fighting against large targets."

"Very well. Is the exact location of this airfield pinpointed?"

"Yes sir."

"What equipment is there?"

"45 tanks, 10 Su-24s, 7 Mi-8s, and 20 artillery pieces sir. Personnel is unknown."

"Okay, get me five B-1Bs with MK-82 bombs and get them airborne. I want them to knock out this whole base with one pass, you hear me? Nothing is to remain. Do they have anything coming into the region right now?"

"Possibly some transports and a cargo ship disguised as a merchant ship sir."

"Shoot down the plane upon confirmation and sink the ship upon confirmation."

"What about them sir?"

"Send in a 6-man team to their central HQ. Get intel and get out, if they are behind the attack on our artillery bases we'll deal with it accordingly. I want you to divert one SSBN to within striking range of them and get a B-2 armed with JDAM bombs, 500 pounders. Get it ready to go."

"Yes sir!"
----------------------
At the B-1 base in Layarteb, the runway screamed as five B-1Bs took off, each with 84 MK-82 bombs. They climbed to a height of 40,000 feet and ingressed at M1.2 to the mountains. Elements of the 1st Black Operations Unit were watching the mountain base from a klik away. Their unit was newly formed for this task of stopping rebel forces. So far, they had destroyed about twenty-five vehicles and two trains, filled with rebel supplies.

The B-1s entered Smolny airspace shortly, totally undetected by enemy radar. Once over the target, they released all of their bombs, completely decimating the mountain base, artillery, aircraft, armor, and men all in one shot. They turned for home and landed shortly after, another successful mission.

The Black Ops Unit reported total destruction of the mountain base and surveyed the wreckage afterwards, capturing the only two rebels there. They were flown back to Layarteb HQ by Black Hawk and would be questioned in total secrecy. As far as anyone knew, the entire base was eradicated, the Black Ops made sure of that. The two bodies that would be unaccounted for were conviently in an area where a MK-82 hit, killing and vaporizing them.
----------------------
"Admiral, she's confirmed hostile!" Commander Alson said over the private phone from the CIC of his Ticonderoga.

"Very well, you are authorized to sink her. What's her range?"

"Forty nautical miles sir, within range of a Harpoon."

"Green light Commander!"

The Ticonderoga's deck was quiet and peaceful in the night, that was until a pair of RGM-84 Harpoon missiles rocketed off the stern at a 30 degree ascent, only to drop off and skim the waves to the target. Forty nautical miles was a little over half of their maximum range and the two of them came in low and fast, subsonic though.

They executed their pop-up manuever and came down into the ship, hitting the stern and the center, destroying the superstructure and the main cargo hold. An estimated five hundred sailors were onboard, from the classification of the types of ships that were operating. Most likely they all drowned with the ship or died in the fire.

"Admiral. The target is sunk sir."

"Excellent. Send word to CENTCOM. What's the status on that transport?"

"Sir, she's friendly but we have something coming in low that could be something else. We're checking it out now."

The Admiral waiting onboard the Elmont, watching the deck of the carrier illuminate with the afterburners of the F-14s and F-18s that were taking off to fly BARCAP and reconnaissance throughout the area of operations. The Admiral was once a pilot himself. He flew the F-14A Tomcat over two wars and was an ACE, one of six in the navy still alive. He wore decorations galore, which included two Purple Hearts from injuries sustained in a test flight and from being shot down behind enemy lines. He waited patiently until the ID came back. It was hostile, a group of four transports coming in low, just over the waves, below SAM range.

The Admiral relayed the information to the E-2 AWACS orbiting high above the fleet, who then relayed the information to a pair of patroling F-14Ds. They intercepted the airliners, taking two down with Sparrows, one down with a Phoenix, and hte other with a pair of Sidewinders.

The report to CENTCOM pleased the General greatly. He was satisfied with the work and now just waiting on the information provided by the two captured rebels.
----------------------
They didn't need to be beaten, truth serum was good enough for them. The sodium penathol drained every ounce of information out of them, which was enough to go to their allies with. The two rebels were Soviet Canukastan soldiers, who took part in the attacks on the northeast artillery base. Two MPs had to restrain the interrogator, whose brother died from their cynaide.

The two soldiers also revealed more and more plans about Soviet Canukastan's plans for the war, which included a total blanketing of Petrograd with chemical and/or biological weaponry, they were supposed to be coordinating the attack when it went underway, the date unknown even to them.

There was great question on what to do with them. They were officially dead but better to leave it up to a questioning of the general forces. It would also be faxed to the allies.

TO: Republican Forces Alliance
FR: Layarteb CENTCOM

Four artillery bases around Corinth have been wiped out. Equipment damage is total with only a single M109A6 able to be repaired. We have lost a great amount of lives. But we would like to offer to our allies viable information to the involved of Soviet Canukastan. First: In the attack on our artillery bases, cynaide was used. This represents a first-use of such material in this war, aside from the Sarin up north, which we believe was also supplied by Soviet Canukastan. Second: Soviet Canukastan has been supplying these rebels for some time. A mountain base established on Mt. Bludevka was once home to Soviet Canukastan aircraft, armor, and artillery. The base has been oblitered by our bombers. Third: A Soviet Canukastan cargo ship, disguised as a merchant ship transporting medical supplies has been sunk by our navy. We have also shot down four transports heading low and almost below our radar coverage. Fourth: We have detained two survivors of the attack on Mt. Bludevka by our bombers. After sodium penathol was given to them we learned that Soviet Canukastan has ulterior motives to use chemical and/or biological weapons against Petrograd in the near future. These two were supposed to coordinate the attack. We have them detained in a jail cell at a top secret location, not in Smolny any more. They are reguarded as POWs and will not be harmed, yet. We ask your opinions on what to do with these scum and will await your collective response. We request reinforcements at Corinth to take over the artillery for us while we clean up. Other armor and infantry are unharmed and will remain in the area, on full alert, with Rangers standing by. We have covert units in the mountains as well, attacking and destroying Soviet Canukastan supply units to the rebels and will continue to do so.

North Germania
17-11-2003, 08:31
TO: All allied nations
FROM: Feldmarshal Rudolf Küll

Due to further attacks by foreign nations supporting the rebels, all forces in Petrograd have been put on high alert, we have also placed snipers in buildings close to ALL Petrograd checkpoints. The Eliteschultzpolizeikraft have deployed to all checkpoints, and 4 Leopard 2A6 EX tanks have been positioned at all checkpoints as well. Pillboxes are currently being built in checkpoints as well. Snipers have also been positioned outside of the city, watching the borders. We have ordered that our 15 MiL-1 fighters based in Petrograd are patrolling the skies of Petrograd around the clock. We've also sent 20 MiG-33 fighters from carriers in the Smolnyan Sea to patrol Petrograd. 12 B-52's and 20 MiL-1 fighter/bombers from North Germania, accompanied by 30 MiG-33 fighters, are executing bomb runs in Mount Bludevka, also around the clock, to battle Soviet Canukastan as of now. 6 additional B-52's and 10 MiL-1 fighter/bombers from the Corinthian airport will participate in these strikes. All allied military personnel are now going to be required to show Interzonenpass ID cards, which North Germania will make and deliver to you.

By the way, the creation of the Interzonenpass ID card is not for reasons of not trusting our allies, but rather that complete allied control must remain in the city Petrograd (largest city in Smolny, around the size of New York City). I have also been given news that the Reicchancellor is deploying an additional 15,000 Schultzpolizei Soldiers and 30,000 Bundeswehr Soldiers into Petrograd, as well as an additional 50 Leopard 2A5 Main Battle Tanks, 30 Marder Fighting Vehicles. Sumpreme Command is sending our allies in Cornith 40,000 of our finest Germanian-made assault rifles: the H&K 36E,

and 15,000 H&K HK23E Machine Guns, http://www.heckler-koch.de/html/english/behoerden/05_machineguns/05_images/05_01_weapon_01.jpg80 crates of depleted uranium tipped ammunition (80,000 rounds in each), and 60 crates of Depleted Uranium tipped tank shells (100 shells in each). We are shipping these goods by sea, using military cargo ships, which are armed with anti-ship missiles and SAM sites, through the river that cuts through Corinth. With permission, Petrograd HQ would like to send 200 snipers in Corinth, and an additional 10,000 Bundeswehr troops into the city to assist our allies.

Being devoid of my artillery any support is now welcome in Corinth.

ooc: ok where to start.
Im really liking the summaries Layarteb-keep up the great work.
The map is also really awesome. I tried earlier to tell you where some of the stuff was but my comp went on the fritz and i wasnt able to do that- but you fared well without me.

IC: Donesk has ceased hostilities with Hattia and has recognized their support.

Donesk has be alerted to a threat of nuclear strikes and has raised its alert level to DEFCON 2 and is prepared to launch nuclear weapons at any aggressor in order to protect herself.

Donesk will be arranging a peace conference between all parties in Sorangrad on Wednesday, 11/19. (ooc: please post your points for peace by that time or you can telegram Donesk personally). Donesk wishes for no more violence and is now appealing for peace.

Before the conference is to take place a cease-fire is requested 24 hours before the conference and during the time the conference is under way.

To all forces, no one must attack the Parliament buildings in Corinth, their ours, repeat no one is to attack the Parliament buildings in Corinth, the prize belongs to Hirgizstan and especially Layarteb because of that vicious attack. If Canukstan considers any more support then i am afraid there will be consequences pending on that country, cease and decist before the might of this coalition is turned upon you.
Layarteb i will send a truckload of Mortar Tubes (various calibre's) along with ammunition, i will also divert a number of Paladin SPA to your duress, should be upwards of 6 on the way, 10 if your lukcy, i hope this helps.
Due to the artillery attack by the rebel forces i have been forced to postpone plans to assault the Parliament buildings until tomorrow AM.
I suggest that all nations with forces operating within 50 miles of Corinth tighten up perimeter security and practice NBC drills daily, troops won't like it but it may save their lives.

Hirgizstan Out.

Nukes? Who said anything about nukes?

Nikolai looked at his map, "Our main base in vulnerable out in the country, have the men move the base into Chaliska City"

Lt. General Vaceslav recieved his orders from the General, at the main base. "Have the men load all the supplies we need into the trucks, we will leave men here so they can unload supplies from the ships, when everything is loaded form the tanks in a circle around the supply trucks, oh and Everonia is requesting that the allies send artillery, have the Hinds airlift 2 of those 155mms to them"

Prime Minister Alexandrov was sitting at his desk reading the newspaper. He heard steps in front of him, looked up and saw his aide holding a videotape. "Sir, I think you might want to see this." The PM took the video and put it in the VCR. The video had on it a man, who was wearing the uniform of a Hattian pilot, being savagely beaten. A voice speaking in Russian demanded that Hattia pay 10 million USD and 5000 AK-47s for the release of this man. The aide said "We have captured the man who delivered the tape, we are holding him in the prison now." The PM looked at the aide "Take me to him"

The gunner from the destroyed Hind had been running all night, his flight suit was torn, and his face was badly scratched up and bleeding. He heard the sound of a helicopter and looked up in time to see and Everonian Hind fly over. He tried to follow it, he ran through some bushes and happened upon a group of soldiers, he pulled his pistol out but luckily realized that they were North Germanians, "Finally" he said, and then collapsed.

Intelligence shows that Soviet Cau... is being many of these rebel raids, attacks, and such and that they also are capturing our soldiers and torturing them in unspeakable ways.

Layarteb is still curious on what our allies think we should do with the two prisoners taken from the Sov. Cau. airfield.

Hattia thinks you should ship them off to a POW camp outside of the country until the war is over.
