As Independent Hitmen forces renew the advance, Project Darkstar is put into the battle. High above the battlefield and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle observes the enemies rear and the city of Lindni as well as the front line positions. This is one of three top-secret darkstar drones, that are using high quality cameras to take real time video images that are then uploaded to an orbiting communications satillite and sent to special terminals, 5 of which are currently in Lindni. The feed shows Divisional Commanders exactly what the enemy is doing so that they can order units to where they are needed, to exploit a weak area in the enemy lines, block a hole in our lines where enemy forces are seen moving, and the GPS tracker allows artillery crew to set their exact target locations onto their weapons so they can hit targets first slavo.

This is a warning being broadcast across the city by loud speakers and leaflets.

"Our troops are under orders to engage anybody holding a weapon, we therefore advise children not to come out onto the streets with stones as they are easily mistakable as grenades and our tank crews will shoot if they feel threatened. Your life is in your hands."
23-08-2003, 19:10
Major Of-Dakkar climbed down as his Challenger tank came to a halt beside a row of houses. A corporal was struggling with a young boy. "What's this about?" he asked.

"Caught this boy throwing stones at our troops, Sir. What do we do with child captives? He refuses to stop doing it."

Major Of-Dakkar took hold of the boys chin and turned the young angry face to meet his. "Calm down," he ordered.

The boy spat in his face. "Rotten bastards!" he shouted. "We will kill you all. We'll burn your livers in hell."

"Nice kid!" Major Of-Dakkar wiped the spit from his cheek. "Lock him up somewhere. If he doesn't shut up, smack his bottom a few times."

"His bottom, Sir?"

"Yes ... you know ... that bit he sits on." The Major walked away along the street and surveyed his surroundings. White sheets hung from many windows. It was obvious that most people in this region were fed up with war. He noticed a patrol from 6 Fox moving past a junction. This part of Hnazi was definately under allied control. That boy was probably the strongest remaining resistance.

But he couldn't assume too much. He wiped his brow and turned back to his tank. There was probably still much to do.

A private came running up to him and saluted. "Major Of-Dakkar, Sir. Message from Colonel Of-Cannard. Enemy sited three blocks from here. Mostly infantry. Orders are to purge that area, Sir." He handed the Major a map and pointed to a position.

"That where 6 Fox were heading?"

"Don't know, Sir."

"Well if they are they're running into trouble. Get back to your vehicle, Private. Let's go give them back up."

He climbed back onto his Challenger and settled himself before giving the order to move.

"Here they come" A soldier smiled as a column of Challenger tanks rolled down the street, He dropped his rifle and lifted his Rpg, he aimed for the first tank in column and fired, the grenade pierced the armourment and exploded inside the hull of the tank.

The soldier ran down the stairs of the house, and escaped through the back door, leave this rpg in the house for later use.

Across town

Oliver and a small squad were posted up at a small bank, they had set up two 50 cal's one at the main costumer entrance looking out at the street, and one mounted onto of the roof, there was seven of them including Oliver, they were all part of his civilian army group and he knew a couple of them personally, the man manning the 50 cal on the roof was his daughter's best friend, Oliver's daughter jessica was a bit of a tomboy and would hang arounfd with his boy a lot.

And the man with the squad's only rpg was his local butcher, who had also served in the millitary. He heard tanks pound the city in the distance, it sounded almost like a rock concert....

Report from Of-Colman for OBTV:

Here, deep inside Hnazi, I have come across some disturbing scenes of violence and looting as this war torn city plunges into chaos. Passing several burned out vehicles and corpse littered streets we came across a small group of resistance fighters. They did open fire at us but it was clear that they were untrained civilians and they were quickly overcome by soldiers from 6 Fox Company. Only a few shots were fired, and only one of the resistance fighters was wounded.

The most disturbing thing in my mind was when I saw the youngest of these rebels who was a boy of only eight years old. I asked what would happen to him, and was told that he would be held with the other prisoners while enquiries were made regarding his family.
http://www.etaiwannews.com/news_images/20021031/P05-MDF809121031.jpg

I asked one soldier how he felt about taking such a young prisoner. "I saw the kid open fire on us. He knows how to use a weapon, and that makes him dangerous. I dare say he was doing what he was told, but he still has to be treated as enemy. But he'll be well looked after. We don't make war on children, but we don't allow them to shoot at us either. If we did, all the enemy would have to do would be to recruite a whole army of little brats."

Several Challenger tanks passed by our position. Hnazi is a city under occupation and scarred by war. As another day dawns, I wonder how long the citizens of Hnazi will have to wait before they see their city ... and their lives ... return normal.

Independent Hitmens armoured forces have stopped in the Inner Suburbs of Hnazi. The Commander on the ground have decided that tanks and armoured vehicles are too easily ambushed in the streets for them to go in. Therefore infantry and artillery along with HMMWV's will be used to clear the city along with heavy air support.

Light fire could be heard in the distance, as the afternoon sun shone down on them Oliver pulled out his binocular's and pointed them in the area of the fire, then suddenly his radio went off.

"Sir, we're encountering light resistance, but it seems these bastard's are making a push for the inner city, WHOOOOOOSH O yeah you got him good!" The soldier's voice sounded familiar, it was the same man who had given out infantry and mechanised damage....

"Where are you soldier?" Oliver replyied struggling to be heard over the noise of gunfire..

"Were pinned down in a corner house on the west end of Goodard street"He replyed confidently

"Ok i'll send support" He ended the radio conversation

He jogged down the bank stair's, and exited past the 50 cal on the front door, the soldier manning it asked
"Where you going sir?"

"Don't you worry"Oliver replyied, as he jumped into a warthog parked in the street, and drove off to the battlefield.

Goodard street
The corner house on goodard street, had been turned into a mini fortress, the front door had been knocked down and replaced with sandbag's and a 50, the living room on the front of the house was a media centre, the snazzy plasma tv was constantly put on Ltv for latest new's on the front, it was funny that power still hadn't gone out in the city.

The kitchen had a garden view, and a quick and easy escape route to another street, it also held the squad's dwindling ammo cash, upstair's in the large bedroom was the command centre with a map of surrounding street's and enemy locations, and the window located at the top of the stair's had been smashed, snadbagged and given a 50 cal, which was currently letting rip at a enemy position on the corner of another street....

"Yeah got a couple. I'll try an sort these suckers out." He loaded a 20mm Grenade into the launcher and pulled it shut. Then he looked through the sights at the house window. He could see two men reloading the machine gun. He pulled on the trigger and watched as the grenade spiralled into the open window. A tenth of a second later came an explosion and a man came flying out of the window, he hit the ground and lay still blood forming a pool around his body.

"Shot Marty, lets go guys that other one will have seen our position" shouted the Sergeant in charge of the squad as they exited the building through a back door and moved through the garden into the next door house.

Report from Of-Colman, OBTV

Here, in the south western part of Hnazi, allied troops are in total control of the streets. Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion Guard infantry have taken the role of both police and public relations officers as people emerge from their homes and shelters to see what is left of their city. The first aid convoys have reached this area. Much needed relief for these war weary people.

In other areas of the city troops continue to search buildings for weapons and booby traps. The gunfire is distant but the threat of underground resistance is very real. Caution goes hand in hand with diplomacy.

Of-Goddorr is one of my colleagues embedded with 3 Fox. Over to him now for the latest in his area.

"Thanks Col. Yes I'm here with soldiers from 3 Fox as they search buildings in Goodard Street. There was heavy fighting here a while ago, and it's believed that there are still enemy snipers hiding in the buildings. 3 Fox suffered a few casualties when we first entered this area, and it's been a tense few hours with house by house combat. The building we're in now is believed to have been used as a base. Whether there are snipers still on the upper floors remains to be seen. Wait .....

"James, can you hear that, someone's sdownstair's" Another soldier whispered

James stood still, and peeped through the stair's banister's, 3 soldier's were downstair's inspecting the kitchen and living room, James fumbled around in his kevlar vest, and pulled out a grenade, he pulled the pin and held it...

1...2...3, James chucked it hurriedly , the explosion shuddered the floorboard's upstair's, james peered down again...

"Holy fuck there's reporter's and camera crew's down here" James cired

Then a warthog could be heard humming outside,

"Oliver!, Oliver!" James shouted

Colonel Of-Cannard, 2nd Battalion Royal Guard, representing allied forces in Lindni.

Message to all remaining rebels within Hnazi.

Hnazi is now in the hands of the allied troops. The fight for this city is over. It is now time for you to lay down your weapons and surrender to allied forces. You will be treated well, in accordance with the appropriate rules of war. Lay down your weapons and walk into the street with your hands held high so that we know that you are not hostile.

.................

This message was sent out earlier today. Since then a few rebels have emerged from buildings, and a few others have put up minor resistance before surrendering. It appears that the main enemy forces have been driven north from here ... possibly to Caninda.

Ground commander: Alright we need to secure the Northern part of Hnazi.

http://www.corona.navy.mil/nwas1air.jpg

Now our allies will be present in the city and may be fighting in the same area. Don't fire unless fired upon.I repeat don't fire unless fire upon. We will be fighting in urban city so expect street to street fighting. We will have 105 MM APC's and jeeps supporting our soldiers in the street.

Report from Of-Colman, OBTV:

As enemy troops retreat from Hnazi it appears a number of them have been intercepted by allied troops from Watertest who were heading into the northern part of the city. Firefights have broken out in certain sections but it is believed that resistance is limited and allied troops will have control of northern Hnazi within hours.

2nd Battalion Royal Guards, from Of Balmania, will be remaining in Hnazi to establissh a secure base and to maintain control. More aid convoys should be arriving here soon also. Amazingly the electricity is still on in most parts, and water supplies have been re-connected thanks to engineers from the Independant Hitmen. It is a mainly quiet night in southern Hnazi, with just the distant gunfire from the north. Most people are indoors, catching up on sleep or TV news. A few have ventured out onto the streets to enjoy their first relatively peaceful night for several weeks.

Tomorrow, the 2nd Grenadiers are due to arrive in the city. After a briefing from Colonel Of-Cannard they will join the allied advance along with the Hussars. This war is not over yet ... but tonight people are hopeful that it may be soon. One man told me "There is light on the horizon."

As nightime rose on Hnazi the small convoy of around 100 T-80 200 Warthog's and around 3,000 troops unforunate enough to walk on foot, sneaking through the city street's, there were shell's landing nearby but with little acruracy. Oliver, kieran, james and every other troop at the bank piled onto warthog, some having to sit on each other's laps.

Oliver dilligentely scanned the road ahead, with his Nvg's as he drove,

"Enemy road block up ahead, lets smash it guys" Oliver bellowed down his radio, as several other warthog's exploded to the front of the convoy, there 50 cal's lighting up the street.

James manned the 50 cal, and let rip on the jeep's and infantry up ahead, bullet's zinged by his head and he felt nervous, there were deep in enemy territory making a desparate dash for caninda.

"Hold on to something guy's" Oliver shouted, as he accelrated right for a jeep infront of them, there was a sickening thud as the crashed into it, but the warthog held straight and continued accelrating.. There were cries of laughter and victory whoop's from other warthog's and tanks as they rolled through the roadblock...

"Tank up ahead" Oliver cired as he sighted a challenger tank upahead, with the usal troops and humvee's surrounding it, the turret of the large tank slowly turned into position, when a sickening thud rang out into the street's, then a smoking hull of the challenger lay infront of them more cheer's were heard over the radio, and a tank gunner spoke calmly

"Enemy armour destroyed"

Oliver grinned, they were making it......just.

Hey John do you see something in the distance. Yeah I think they are soldiers from IHM or Balmania. Wait a minute IHM doesn't use T-80 tanks. Alert the patrols and *Machine Gun Fire*.

Get down damn it *Metal Crashing*

Those bastards have smashed through our gate and *BANG* now
destroyed one of our tanks. Alert every patrol within 5 miles.

Call the HQ NOW

*Sir at 2100 hours a large group of loyalist forces broke through our road block. Then they destroyed one of our tanks. Three soldiers have been killed and seven have been wounded. Alert every patrol in Lindni and tell them that they are moving north to Caninda.*

*We will move 7,500 soldiers, 2,500 Hummers, 500 105MM APC's, and 450 M1A2's to be waiting in the plain and small village outside of Hnazi.*

Using the data provided by Watertest forces on the location of this threat, FA/18 Hornets have begun to fire Maverick ASMs at the convoy and strafe it with cannon fire. The amount fo buildings around make it difficult for the fightes to strafe so......

"This is Charlie Black One, I am requesting Helicopter Gunships to hit the convoy below, our cannon fire is hitting houses and other buildings and is uneffective, i repeat we need Helicopter Gunships we are out of missiles.Over"

"Charlie Black One this is AWACS Four, roger that Gunships are inbound on your position now, any AA?"

"Thats a negative AWACS Four, some tracer fire but nothing those apache drivers shouldnt be able to handle. Over"

"Roger that whats your estimate on enemy strenght Over"

"When we came perhaps a hundred tanks and one-fifty warthogs, i can see at least 12 tanks burning from my orbit and Delta Flight is still inbound with its Mavericks Over"

"Roger that as soon as Delta have cleared the area give the all clear to Alpha Tango the apaches Over"

"Recieved and Understood Charlie Black Four out." With that he resumed his orbit over the city with his wingman in tow.

The young officer stepped inside the room and saluted.

Colonel Of-Cannard glanced up at him. "What is it Lieutenant?"

"Gunfire and heavy artillery to the north, Sir. Looks like Watertest have engaged the enemy."

"Any requests for help?"

"Not yet, Sir. Independant Hitmen are responding."

"Then we'll sit tight. I'm sure they can handle it." Of-Cannard took a sip of coffee and glanced again at the Lieutenant. "Have the 2nd Grenadiers reported in yet?"

"Their ETA is noon today, Sir. They reported that all is quiet in Arculo."

"Good." Of-Cannard relaxed in his chair and listened to a bird singing outside the window. "Hopefully within a few days the whole of Lindni will be peaceful again. Have the Commander of Grenadiers report to me soon as they arrive."

"Yes Sir." The lieutenant saluted again and left the room.

As a helicopter swooped over again, Oliver was hit my a 50mm bullet in his right arm, and the warthog served uncomfortably.

James tryed desperately to at least wound the flying beast with some 50mm fire of its own, but failed.

"Dammit is anyone of this gunship?" Oliver shouted, blood pouring from his arm wound, Kieran in the passenger seat looking into the back of the warthog, there was a rpg in the back with one round.

"Sir we have rpg's"

"Your pissing mke about right"

"No sir, it worked in that movie, ermwhat was it.black hawk down!?"

"That was a fucking real event not just a movie you dumbass"

"Well then sir all the better"

"Tsk"Oliver pulled over the warthog, and signalled for the rest of the convoy to go on. Kieran jumped off the warthog and fumbled around in the back, he pulled out the rpg tube, and dropped it on the floor, looking for the grenade.

"There you go"Kieran joked as he loaded the rpg and took aim, the helicopter flew right over him and exsposed it tail to kieran, Kieran lined up the shot and fired, there was a MMMMMM, as it charged up then it rocketed out of the rpg leaving a thick black some trail behind it, as it crashed into the tail rotor of the gunship, the helicopter lost control momentarily but regained it enough to retreat back from where it came.

Kieran got back in the warthog and smiled smugly....

"This is Angel Two ive got him in my sights, Tommy frag his ass." he said to his gunner sitting infront of him in the AH-64.

"Hellfire away, locked on target." said his copilot as the missile roared off the rail on the helicopters stubby left wing and headed for the speeding warthog the flame of its rocket motor momentarily destroying the pilot and gunners nightvision goggles view.

Of-Colman reporting for OBTV News:

Today has seen the people of Hnazi coming out onto the streets to demonstrate against war and and against dictatorship. "We want peace! We want liberty!" has been their shout. Young and old alike have been parading in the main streets. A certain sign that forces loyal to the old dictatorship have lost their grip on this part of Lindni.
http://www.vivapalestyna.host.sk/news/special/14.jpg

Meanwhile, away from these crowds, the 2nd Grenadiers have been arriving in Hnazi. They will not be remaining here. After a briefing from allied central command, they will be advancing north to continue the offensive against enemy forces.
http://www.aeronautics.ru/archive/macedonia/photos01/mac0009.jpg

Already an advance party have set up road blocks in northern Hnazi. Nobody passes without challenge, no matter how harmless they appear. Southern Lindni, I'm told, will not be allowed to fall back into the hands of the dictatorship.

Oliver coughed frantically and pulled himself from the wreckage of the warthog, the convoy rolled on careless of the wreckage it seemed, until a medical warthog pulled to the side of the raod and two medic's climbed out to inspect.

The medic's calmbered over to oliver inspecting his wound's as he lay on the road..

"Sir are you ok?" One of the medic's asked

"My..back" Oliver whispered back

"The medic's turned him over and looked, there were a few inaubidble whisper's then another medic replyed

"Right ollie were just going to get you to Caninda you'll be fine"

"How's the war going"Oliver choked

"Its over,Jack advent has been declared dead, force's in Caninda are surrendering in there masses"

"But"Oliver stuttered and stopped as he saw a tank in the convoy with a white flag flying from it's hull.

Report from Of-Colman, OBTV

Scenes of confusion as well as jubilation here in Hnazi as the news of victory ripples through the citizens. "Jack is dead!" they are whispering, almost in disbelief. Allied soldiers have been talking to groups of locals, reassuring them of the truth of these rumours. It seems that, after all the bloodshed and hostility, Lindni is once again a land of peace.

Lindni can now look forward to a new era. A new age of democracy.

"General Sir, the dictators son is apparently dead." said the Colonel Commanding the 2nd Regiment of the 6th Infantry Division cheerfully.

"What, when did that happen? Are we Sure? What proof have we that this is true?" General Mcknight responded from his command Humvee.

"Well none sir, but enemy forces are surrendering everywhere, 2nd Battalion just took an entire tank company prisoner."

"Shit. Ok first make sure those tanks are secure, no booby traps nothing. Then i want them driven to the Divisional Repair Shop and a double guard put on em, we will keep em there until the Lindni army is reformed, i assume that they will wanna be keeping them."

"Roger that Sir ill see to it personally." he walked off to his M3 Bradley got in and headed off into the city.

"Captain get me General Deeside on the horn." The General said as he turned to his radioman Captain Jacobs.

"Sir General Deeside on the radio" he said after a minute

"Thanks" he said as the headset was handed to him "Sir we have uncomfirmed reports that the dictators son is dead and that large bodies of enemy troops are surrendering."

"Wow" he heard through the radio."As far as we know there are no allied forces near the capital to secure it from looting and other criminal acts. Hmmmmmm......" Silence on the line "Right im going to tell General Wilson to rush the 143rd up to the capital to secure it and act as policemen, get your boys ready to move up there as well in a couple of days"

"Roger that Sir. You better call off Operation Freedom or those Special Forces guys are gonna be droppin on an empty house."

"Roger that John i've got someone on it right now, ask Roy to send me a list of our casualties for the whole conflict, im sure the President and the Joint Chiefs will be interested in that, also enemy losses if we can as well as our material losses."

The President of Watertest

At 3:30 PM all hostile actions in Lindni have ceased, the war is over. At this time we will send 275,000 soldiers back to Watertest. The rest will be stationed in Lindni as peacekeepers. They will stay intill Lindni has a stable economy, a stable military, and is a democracy. We shall provide food, water, medical supplies, money, police & military vehicles. We thank our allies Independent Hitman and Balmania for their support and help in this war. Thank You

This has been a message from the president of Watertest

Ground Commanders: The easy part of the war is over, the hard part now begins. We need 30,000 soldiers positioned in Caninda as peacekeepers. We need the 45,000 others to patrol the rest of the country incase a rebellion should arise. We also need to set up a Police department, Medical department, and Fire Department.

General Jordan: Alright we need to stop this gang violence. Offer a $75,000 reward for any information on gang members and a $7,500,000 reward for any information on gang leaders. The packages of aid must be protected for the civilians.

Ground Commander: We need to get the Police, Medical, and Fire department up and running before we can get anywhere. We also need to start a few construction companies to help repair and construct new buildings. At some point we have to get the Lindni military restructured and more organized than it was. I think in 5-6 years there will be a stable enough economy and democracy to support a powerful military.

Report from Of-Backman, for OBTV

While armed gangs steal the aid delivered to Caninda, angry mobs have begun looting as the city plunges into chaos. Troops from Of Balmania were forced to fire warning shots, but there simply are not enough allied troops here yet to establish any real control.
http://www.idiotarian.com/images/montreal-riot-03.jpg

"We have a small section of the city where order is restored, but the rest of the place is a mess," said Captain Of-Trayn of 14th Hussars. "We can't do much about it until reinforcements arrive."

"When will that be?"

"It could be any time now."

"There were rumours of about 30,000 troops from Watertest having arrived in Caninda. Is this not true?"

"Well .. I don't doubt that they're coming here. If they've arrived then they must be in another part of the city. We haven't had any direct communication from them yet."

"Has there been a problem with communications?"

"We did have some problems for a few hours, but they've been sorted out now."

"Is it going to be a long haul, here in Lindni?"

"At this stage we can't estimate a time scale. The plans are to get the police and other services up and running properly again. After that, it's a case of overseeing the restructure of the Lindni armed forces. So ... difficult to put a time on all that."

Yesterday was a day of joy and liberation. Today, it seems, the years of suppressed anger and frustration are being released in any and all directions. It's most likely a passing phase. Once more troops arrive and the citizens have blown off sufficient steam, Caninda might begin to return to normal.

Meantime, news is arriving that 2 Grenadiers have reached the outskirts of the capital city. They did encounter armed gangs there also, but those were quickly disarmed with little resistance.

General Wilson rode in the lead T-99M tank of his division as it entered the capital. There were a few people on the streets looking at his tank and the many that followed it. There had been reports of Armed Gangs roaming the city stealing supplies but he didnt think they would bother a tank, especially one like this with its imposing 125mm Gun and nearly 1 and a half feet of steel-titanium armour. They had just passed a church when it happened, the General was leaning on one of the two M-2 .50Cal machine guns mounted on the turret when there was a streak and explosion behind him. He at once turned his head and looked behind, one of the Urals bringing supplies for his troops was on fire, with the entire front of the cab where the engine was located gone.
The two men who were driving the truck were obviously dead and already one of his BMP-5Bs was alongside and trying to get what was left of the bodies out while two men tried to contain the fire with two pathetic fire extinguishers. The rest of the convoy had stopped and soldiers were poaring out of Urals and BMPs and establishing a perimeter. The General watched as two BMPs pulled up outside the building that the rocket had come from and disgorged their troops. They immeadiately threw grenades into the ground floor windows and when these deternated they ran in AK-101s and PKs ready for any threat that may lie within.

"Corporal take your squad upstairs now, try and apprehend the shooter alive but dotn take risks"said Captain Johnson to the Corporal in charge of the squad that had been in the same BMP as him.
"Roger that Sir, SECOND SQUAD ON ME" he yelled as he flipped the switch on the side of his AK-101 to Full-Auto and started towards the stairs.

A minute later the Captain heard a single pistol shot follwed by the chatter of a 3 round burst from an AK.
The Corporal returned down the stairs with a hand on his solder with some red liquid that was obviosly blood trickling down his combat jacket.

"Report please Corporal"said the Captain

"He fired so we returned it Sir, im afraid his round got me in the shoulder, but Britten got him with his AK before he could do any more damage. It looks like he may have been trying to reload the Rpg and take another shot at the convoy but im not sure, he was still dressed in military uniform, and had a bandage over his head, maybe he didnt know the war was over?" he shrugged his shoulders.

"Ok go get yourself treated by the medics ill secure things here"

"Yes Sir" he said as he walked out the door.

Report from Of-Colman, OBTV

2 Grenadiers arrived in the capital city earlier today. They did find some slight resistance in the form of armed gangs, but this quickly fizzled away and the grenadiers have established a level of control here. Troops have orders to be vigilant, but to adopt a softly softly approach. "We are not here as conquerors," one commander said. "We are here to oversee a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."

The soldiers are armed and ready to return fire if targeted. So far, however, the people have accepted the presence of the allies. This city did not see a great deal of the war, and life here appears to be going on as normal.

OBTV NEWS REPORT

Lindni.

A Special Unit from 2nd Battalion Royal Guards, acting on information supplied by local people, began a "clean up" operation in the town of Arculo today. About fifteen members of an armed gang calling themselves "The Lindni Popular Front" were arrested by troops and members of the newly reformed Arculo police department.

It is believed that allied units throughout Lindni will be carrying out similar operations.

This has been a "no nonsense" operation. Very quick in, and very quick to remove the gang members to a place of custody. Although the Arculo police force is now up and running again, it is believed that troops from the 2nd Battalion Royal Guards will remain for a while to work alongside them.

Chris's heartbeat increased as he looked out into the street checking for enemy position's, he saw two Balimorian marine's pinned down behind a car who owner's had feld the scene once the gunfight had begun, the marine would pop up for a few second's fire a single brust of 3 shot's and return behind the body of the car, his friend did the same.

"That one! That one!" The young boy pointed to a white buidling on the corner of the street. "Two men top floor."

Sergeant OF-Hadris patted the boy on the shoulder. "Thanks Kid, now you'd best get back behind that wall." He turned to his three man patrol and motioned one forward. "Okay go."

The first soldier kicked open the door and the rest followed him in. There was movement up the stairs, and a few bullets hit the wall above them.

"Go, go, go!!!"

One soldier gave covering fire while the others ran up the stairs. Sergeant Of-Hadris felt a bullet bounce off his armour and he turned to see a man fleeing into a room. He followed and crashed open the door, spraying the room with bullets.

A young man hit the floor, dead. The far window was open. When Sergeant Of-Hadris looked out he could see the other man running along the street. He had a slight limp, so he had probably jumped. The kid was still hiding behind the wall.

"Get onto B Patrol and tell them a guy in a yellow shirt with a slight limp is heading in their direction. Tell them he's armed and dangerous."

"Yes, Serg." A soldier ran back down the stairs.

Sergeant Of-Hadris wiped his brow and glanced down at the dead man. "I wonder why these guys do it, when they could have peace," he muttered, giving the corpse a nudge with his foot.

Across Hnazi, Colonel Of-Cannard leaned on his desk and surveyed his command team. "What we need to do is start talking to potential leaders of this city. Try to get a civilian administration together. This country is in a mess. We can't stay here forever, and I'm damned if I'd want to. So that's one of our priorities now. We need to begin to hand over control to civilian authorities."

"We already have a police chief," said a young lieutenant. "Maybe he could be given more say in things."

"Oh no." Colonel Of-Cannard shook his head. "This is not going to be a police state. That would be too dangerous a road to go down. It has to be civilians. Pput out the feelers and get a picture of who's big in Hnazi ... you know .. respected citizens ... people the others will look up to ... and people we can trust."

Heads nodded around the table.

"Ok. That's all for now. Go make it happen. Dismissed."

"What the hell! The port city of Ankh has declared support for Democracy!" Jack Bellowed, as he and his advisors discussed a course of action in a bunker bellow Lani.

"Commander sir, it is not what the people want, it is what they get that matters" A high ranking general muttered,

Jack paced up and down nervously, and set his eyes on the map of lindni.

"So what troops, resources, towns do we hold!"He shouted slamming his hands on the table.

"Of course sir, you have full support of my 2nd infantry division, consisting of just under 150,000 men, how many of them have defunct to the Democractic side i do not know, i would say roughly 90,000 remain faithful to us... This is not including allies we may find so maybe more, you have my full mechanised force of 700 Challenger II tanks, around 2,000 Infantry support and transport warthogs" Command in chief of Infantry and mech 1 st division talked confidently.

"Ah but weapons, Ankh held most of our An'94's, we have no weapons to ifght with!" Jack cried obivously paranoid

"Calm down sir, we have plenty of munitions, everyman will have an an-94, we have mortars, Sniper rifles, Anti tank missles, Portable Sams And Rpg's. Which may i remind you our opposition do not, they may outnumber us, but they do not outskill us."

"Ok, ok....We journey back to Candina, we have nearly 100% support there and from surrounding towns and villages, we call up everyman and woman to service and defend this 50 mile radius at first, then if we are somehow beaten, this 30m mile radius here, then the 10, then the 5, Then..." The generals looked at each other

"We make our last stand in the city walls" He finished, The Generals shook hands and headed to there respective transports...

Aid has continued to arrive in Hnazi and the surrounding areas of the countryside and has also started arriving in the capital city. Aid shipments are being heavily guarded as are handouts.
Special Forces acting on tip offs have raided Several Buildings in Hnazi and Arculo where suspected gang members and leaders were thought to be. In these raids 22 people have been arrested and numerous weapons have been siezed. Amongst those siezed were NEW G-36s assualt rifles that were in the process of having serial numbers rubbed off them. Tracing has begun on the origin of these weapons. Prisoners are now being held in the Arculo and Hnazi Army Bases that have been constructed by IH forces for the Lindni army once it is re-built.

The Police and Fire Fighter Seminar went off without a hitch and the paramedics course will start tomorow.

Chris walked into the metting, he was late a few people turned to see who had entered, possibly a bit paranoid that it could be a soldier, or one of the newly assembeled police force.

The club was packed, about 300 to 400 people jammed into it, chris looked for a seat and wasn't suprised there was none, he leant on the wall and listened.

"We strike early morning, nothing over the top and heoric we need to be stealhyier this time.....so my plan is as follow's..." A muscly black man boomed his voice seemeing to echo all over the nighbourhood, chris wouldn't be suprised if half the police force and Allied forces were now on high alret to surround this building...

"So tomorrow, around 3 am these brave matyr's will sacrifice there life's to signal the sign of the attack, we were forunate enough to commandeer two millitary flatbed trucks near the subrubs on the way to Hnazi, these brave two will drive these to a nearby millitary barrack's which i will not mention incase we are being listened to"

Then hundred's of us and thousands of our civilian supporter's will pour onto the streets bring death to the intruders!"

"3am?" Colonel Of-Cannard looked up at the young lieutenant. "How reliable is your informant?"

"He hasn't let us down yet, Sir. He says the meeting was fairly packed. Looks like the situation could be quite serious."

"Okay. Put our troops on high alert and pass the info onto all allied commanders." Of-Cannard grabbed a piece of paper and began to write a message to his fellow commanders.

.... "To all allied commanders. Further to this latest informtaion on rebel activity, I suggest we introduce a curfew from 9pm to 8am. Let me know your opinion of this and I will issue orders accordingly.

"Sir weve gotta communication coming through from Balmania forces."

The Duty Officer walked across the small room and peered over the operators shoulder as he scribbled the message down.

"Shit..... Ask for confermation and when its recieved type up a copy and bring it to the Officers Mess, I'm going to get the General."

He walked briskly along the passage way of the ship, above the roar of a jet engine announced the start of another air patrol leaving the carrier. He ducked as he went through a bulkhead door and headed left at the T junction just after it. Two Armed Marines made way for him as he entered the Officers Mess where General Deeside was tucking into a bowl of Shreddies with some of his junior officers.

The Watch Officer, an Air Force Major, walked up and saluted. The General looked up from his Shreddies and nodded for the Officer to begin. He spoke for just under ten seconds.

"We are sure this information is Genuine?" he asked after a second of thought

"We are confirming it as we speak, but I dont see that Balmania would send us duff information sir."

"Agreed, the President seems to think very highly of them and i'm inclined to agree with him. Jimmy!" he turned to an Army Colonel who was sitting at the next table.

"Yes Sir?"

"Get Major Duncan and Colonel Davies into the HQ room, and also get that SEAL commander we may be needing his troops."

"Roger that Sir." he hurried off, knowing that he would have to walk the whole length of the ship to find the SEAL commander who would probably be in the Marine Quarters where he usually hung out.

Back in the Officers Mess, General Deeside grabbed another mouthful of Shreddies and headed off to the HQ room onboard. Once there he got on the Secure Satillite Radio to General Mcknight who was in his command building Bright and Early as usual in Hnazi.

"Bob we've got intel coming in that these rebels are planning to attack one of the Coalition bases in Hnazi with two flatbeds loaded with explosives. Looks like after that all the supporters will come out onto the Streets and try and kill as many of us as possible. I want you to put your troops on Red Alert, double the Guards at all bases and get some Active Patrols out in the neighbourhood. Any tip offs act on them as you see fit, but I dont want hundreds of dead bodies laying around, also get the Abrams troops commander up to speed and get em involved."

"Roger that Sir, Rules of Engagement chagned at all??"

"Negative, only shoot if threatened"

"Ok Sir, do i have permission to start hitting any suspected resistance buildings with Tanks and gunships if they resist?"

"Yes but no un-nessecary destruction, we dont want to destroy the town do we! I need to phone other commanders to get them up to speed but ill have a copy of the info sent to you ASAP, Deeside Out."

He put the phone down and turned to the officers that had assembled in the room during his phone call.

"Now what are we going to do about this little situation..........................."

It is another day of tension and expectation. After days of quiet the peace in Lindni is once more in the balance.

Sgt Of-Brook signalled for his patrol to keep their heads down as they circled the building. He beckoned the young local and said "We need to be entirely sure about this. How certain are you that this Chris guy is involved with the rebels?"

The young local glanced around him with a hint of fear. "He is a very bad man. All through the war I saw him with them. He has killed many and will do so again. I'm sure."

Sgt Of-Brook motioned two men to the right. Another two to the left. The rest follwed him as they rushed the building. He kicked in the main door, and immediately saw a man running for the stairs.

"Stop there," he shouted. "On the floor!"

The man turned and opened fire, hitting the sergeant in the arm. Others from the patrol opened fire and the man fell. They hurried up the stairs to find two more men; one with his hand bandaged. They pushed these to the floor and got the cuffs on them before there was any time for resistance.

"Who ratted?" asked the man with the bandaged hand. "Whoever did it is dead. You tell them that. You won't hold us forever and then he's dead. Got it?"

"Shut up." One soldier kicked him. "Any more noise and maybe you'll be the one who's dead."

"Okay guys." Sgt Of-Brook was pressing a field dressing against his wound as he looked into the room. "Take these two down to the trucks." He put his rifle out to stop the one with the bandaged hand. "You. Is your name Chris?"

The man spat in his face.

"Get that scum outa here," said the sergeant, wiping his cheek. "He'll talk soon enough once he's back at base."

Outside the young local ducked back into the shadows, shaking with fear. His heart pounded as he saw the man Chris being taken away.

Lindni

More military operations took place today to "weed out" the rebels from Lindni society. These rebels, according to Colonel Of-Cannard, are a "threat to democracy, and to the future peace and stability of Lindni." ... Attempts were made by a number of rebels to organise attacks on allied troops, but thanks to an anonymous tip off the allies were able to be prepared to meet these attempts with force.

A few people were injured in minor clashes, but over 400 prisoners have been taken into allied custody. It is also believed that more leaders of armed gangs have been arrested.

Hnazi

Tonight the streets of Hnazi are in turmoil following several car bomb explosions and scattered attacks by rebel forces. Troops in full riot gear have managed to subdue most of the violence but not before several deaths and many injuries.

This was an organised attack on the allies and the new Lindni authorities.
the response has been uncompromising with bullets and tear gas. Many arrests have been made, and ... according to one local police chief ... tonight has been a turning point in Hnazi. He told me that he recognised one of those arrested as being a former general of the rebel forces. It may even have been that most of the people who joined the riots tonight were responding to his call for action. I'm told he is now in custody and under heavy guard.

Smoke fills the air. Ambulances are are still speeding people to hospital, and the fire services are working overtime. I can still see many troops on the street. Two have just passed me, helping a comrade who was bleeding from a head wound.

It might be that there are still difficult days ahead, but one thing is certain ... a significant number of those who support the old regime have either been killed or captured tonight. They have dared to take the fight to the streets and have paid a high price for doing so.

He had escaped in the frenzy surrounding the two's bombs exploding the guard's left there position, and it wasn't hard to break down the flimsy wooden door...he was back on the streets and dangerous...

A few bullets rang around him, but he didn't care he continued to spray the street with his gun, the opposition was a mix of riot police who had been assembled hastily to deal with the threat, but were now being hammered, and were being replaced by troop's..

He saw people dying around him from both side's it was horiffic, not the almost friendly, swapping for shell's and occaisonal gunfire, it was close and almost beastily fighting, he saw people being blinded by flashbang's then gunned down without a flight, tear gas grenade's burning people's eye's out...

He crouched behind a car and rested, the sound of gunfire intenseified

Of-Backman reporting for OBTV

Here in Hnazi the streets are quiet once again after the recent days of unrest. It's difficult to calculate how many people were injured. I am told that 55 troops were killed in the clashes, and that over 300 prisoners have been taken to holding areas.

One inmate of the local prison, described as mildly dangerous, managed to escape during the confusion. A search is on for him now, but I've been told it's not the highest priority. His details have been handed to the newly reformed Lindni police force, and the matter is in their hands now.

This morning another Red Cross convoy arrived in the city. Much needed supplies for an increasingly weary people.
