Yes, I too like corsets- though I don't tend to wear mine as much any more. I enjoy dancing to electronica too much when I go out and I find corsets are unproductive in this endeavour

That used to drive me nuts. My hips got a lot wider after I had kids, so nothing fit the way it used to...I don't mind, I like having a big ass Butt still. :p

This is how I deal with it. I no longer keep different sized clothes. Not ones that are too big, not ones that are too small. It's not horribly expensive, because I don't buy too many outfits at once, but it's much better for my self esteem than having a closet of shit that doesn't fit right.

That used to drive me nuts. My hips got a lot wider after I had kids, so nothing fit the way it used to...I don't mind, I like having a big ass Butt still. :p

Lots of self image beliefs are due to something that the individual reinforces on themselves. This is a relaxed, friendly thread with people joking and not being all that serious, it's a fairly risk free environment to get a few nice compliments about your appearance and feel better about yourself. That's my pop psychology take on it anyway.

I'm in the South-Eastern U.S. right now, and the rain necessitates the leather. It's my newer leather jacket, I have a two others that are in my permanent residence. One is a faux-WWII era jacket modeled after the B-17 crew jackets, given to me by my grandfather, and the other is a full length leather duster that I got as a present for a birthday. The one you see is actually a couple years old, but only sees use during light to medium rain storms. The older midlength jacket from my granddad is better insulated, and that's the one that I wear up north. It's also distinctly un-shiny.

Maybe I'll post here tomorrow. The only recent pics I can find are from the T.E.A. party. I almost make a tricorne look good :p

The smallest is really a 34, for the really tiny girls. And if a US size 4 would be a 32 then the fabled "size zero" Hollywood stars would be impossible - even by Hollywood standards.

Yay for WYTYG being more thorough in her research than I was! I just pulled up the first conversion chart on Google.

Basically, an American size 4 fits women who are on the lower end of the "healthy" BMI range. So, you know, thinner than most people, but generally with actual boobs and hips and such. Size 0s tend to be worn by the sticklike teenage girls who do not actually appear to have hit puberty and/or consumed food in the past month. Size 8-10 or so is probably around what most people would think of as an average healthy women, and size 16 and above is what we start thinking of as "plus size."

Also, I want to move to Germany, where it sounds as if the sizes are based on an actual measurement rather than just being random numbers pulled out of someone's ass. :p

Yeah, US vanity sizing is ridiculous. I'm 5'8.5" and around 135, and wear a 6. In my mom's day I probably would have been a 10.

Yeah, I'm kind of 'half' Ashkenazi Jew (my great grandfather allegedly even knew Einstein, that's what my great uncle tells me, but he is a bit nutty now). My Dad is a proper Brit though, so I don't quite look like an evil Trotsky :p.
