It's that time of year again. You may nominate anyone for any award.
Many of you have never heard of these, but I've been doing them since 2005. It's a way to honor others and stroke your ego. So nominate anyone, even yourself. Especially yourself.


The 8th Posters Awards for Excellency in the Fields of General Debating and Posting.



The following awards are for those whom you believe are skilled debaters. They display a level of eloquence and professionalism that the average debater does not possess. They do not resort to using rhetoric, or if they do it is used minimally. They prove their points and do not resort to simply pulling emotional chords. These debaters are held in deep respect. Flaming is something with which their posts are not familiar. Their responses are not mired in fantas. However, there are different levels of skill and the prizes for this category are listed below:

The following awards are for those posters whom you feel have gained your utmost respect. Their threads are highly anticipated and rarely turn into flames, if ever. Moderators only post there to comment, but never to warn the thread creator. These posters create threads that could be considered classics, the perfect representatives of Generalite culture. This year spammers qualify.

I realize that certain posters display certain characteristics. These characteristics are what make them unique and personify the very meaning of the words used to describe them. They stand out and they deserve recognition. The titles are self-explanatory:

This award is named after the always humorous Lunatic Goofballs.

The Award for Outstanding Sarcasm
This award is for someone whom you believe is the very epitome of sarcastic.

The Award for Uncommon Insanity
This award is for someone whom you think is insane...and enjoying every minute of it!

The Award for Best New Poster
This poster shows an eagerness to learn and has not resorted to insulting others.

Awards of Particular Recognition

Most Effective Moderation
This award is for the moderator whom you believe is the most effective and performs his or her duties with the highest degree of excellency.

Lifetime Achievement Award aka the Drunk Commies Memorial Award
This is the poster whom you believe has earned your respect and is amongst the most honorable of posters. If they were to leave, their presence would be greatly missed. In memory of Drunk Commies.

Zooke Memorial Award for High Charity and Overall Kindness
The Zooke Memorial Award for High Charity and overall Kindness. So often in the hustle and bustle of the forums we become easily enraged and forget that this is only a game. Zooke helped keep us friendly and never said an offensive word to anyone. This is in memory of her. May she never be forgotten.

I was taking a shot at myself. I was proud of the award I got. But after my first few months here, my patients went, and I started being less civil in debates.

Hence my "you all started to piss me off" comment;)

I figured as much, but looking at the edit times of the first four says that at least those are also the same guy.

Nope - they're just all on at the same time (they have a regional message board - according to the Haven page, it has an IRC channel, so they could easily have been communicating via that (which makes edit times make sense if together)).

Moreover, I can show you RPs on both II and the Havenregion boards that show conclusively they aren't the same - I've RPed with them before and they aren't the same person (at least Prae, Fran, etc.).

Just because you don't know someone doesn't mean that they're out to get you. :p

EDIT: Incidentally, doesn't the edit times make it impossible for them to be the same person? After all, you'd have to be on two separate computers at once to edit two posts with two accounts at precisely the same time. It would require four separate comps, no?

I think the question is this: What do you intend for these awards to be? They are already to a certain extent, a popularity contest meant for fun and entertainment. To that sense, you've already accomplished that regardless of who wins. On the other hand, it's kind of an anti-climactic end to have it de-evolve into the kind of mess it's already beginning to because of Jim Henson over there. Unfortunately, win or lose, I think this thread is fucked. Which is a damn shame. Maybe we can squeeze a few more laffs out of it before it's too late.
