Which dialects and/or accents do you find attractive?

Title says it all. Post what dialect and/or accent you find to be most attractive. It can be of any language, any region, any country, any people group, etc... Basically, I want to find out which way of speaking is most attractive to NSG. :)

Note: There is a difference between dialects and accents. Wiki says this: An accent is a manner of pronunciation of a language. Accents can be confused with dialects which are varieties of language differing in vocabulary, syntax, and morphology, as well as pronunciation. Dialects are usually spoken by a group united by geography or social status.

So keep that in mind.

Easy Kyro, based on my conversations with her on and off these boards I like her, regardless of whether or not I agree with her (and quite often I don't). If you can't handle the fact that there are people who like someone that you do not then you are the one who needs to grow up. You're just making it seem like you are jelous of her.

No one thinks anything will come of it. Flirting is fun, plain and simple. I'm a flirtatious person on and offline, so I flirt with anyone open to it...

I've only "known", Nanatsu, if you can even call it that, for around a day or two, as I'm relatively new here, and I haven't been one of the posters who flirts with her constantly, but she seems to me an agreeable and funny person. Why dislike her because other people like her?

It depends on who is delivering the accent.

Scandinavian accents are cool, Mainland Chinese can sound sexy in movies, I like a lot of English, Irish, Welsh and scottish accents, Dutch - mmm!
I'm an Aussie so I like most Aussie and Kiwi uccents. If they're too nasal it can be a problem.
I really like some American accents....but not a Bronx one.
I also like Canadian accents - they're rich.

That's not the issue. If it was a simple case of internet flirting, it'd be all fine and dandy. (I do it all the time with a whole bunch of people.)

The problem here is that with Nanatsu, they(In general, though not everyone) take it way too far. They practically worship her, and when she comes up with one of her beliefs that every single one of these worshippers would normally react with angry outcry over--I believe, among other things, she's a hefty supporter of eugenics--rather than even debating against her in a friendly manner, they go so far as to defend her from any sort of argument against said beliefs.

It's the hypocrisy I'm reacting against.

I see nothing about my flirting with Nanatsu (or Ryadn for that matter) as either ridiculous or hypocritical. I don't do it because I think it's going to land me in bed with either of them, nor do I want it to, I am happily married. It is nothing more than a bit of fun with someone I like.

Aye. If it's a worthless thread, like the annual office party, well that's what it's there for. But when a thread that interests me with it's political debate suddenly gets hijacked just because Nanatsu got involved, it makes me cry.:(

Well, not really, but you get the point. A thread getting hijacked now and then? Other posters do that, and I'm fine with that. heck, I'll admit, I do it quite often... But it's a NSG law by now, the more involvement that Nanatsu has in a thread, the more likely it is to get hijacked.

No, not from a northern state. However, I was taught how to speak by my grandparents, both sides of which are from northern states. One line from Connecticut, the other from New York City. I spent most of my time with them during my early years, and I've picked up much of their accents.

The difference is two fold, and rather obvious.

1. The sheer amount of hypocrisy involved with the actions of many Nanatsu fanpeople.

2. The fact that I would challenge Poli if I disagreed with her, and I WOULD keep her fan club, as it were, from taking over everything.

In fairness, I don't think Kyro accused you, personally, of hypocrisy. He just mentioned it as part of why the Nanatsu-cult (or any such fan-club) gets on his nerves after a a while. I have no idea if you've ever personally been hypocritical, because I don't particularly follow your posts, but I can assure you that I have seen harem-members go all white-knighty on anyone who dares to criticize NnT as if she were any other poster before, and I'm sure it's that sort of thing that Kyro is quite fairly criticizing. It's tedious, and frankly I find it kinda insulting to NnT herself, since the general message I take from that behavior is, "Stop demanding that she defend her point of view like a rational adult! Can't you see that she's a hot chick?" It's pretty lame.

Anyway, this discussion is hijacking this thread pretty badly, so I think it might be time to let it go, no? After all, I really don't think Kyro's point from the beginning was "Let's all turn yet another thread into a discussion of Nanatsu, just without all the declarations of wub." :p

I like having fun, I wear cat ears and I like anime, I goof, I tell what I like, but also have serious concerns. I am also trying to stay low on the radar, the mods are getting angry at it and some posters dislike it.

The worshiping thing was a joke started by Santiago I, and it stayed there. If anyone else is taking it far enough, my sincere apologies to the affected parties. This is all I will say regarding this subject.

Oh, and for the record, I don't think Nanatsu's following happens that much due to her actions as due to who she is: An otaku girl with a sweet personality and, yes, very insightful posts that ARE serious when need be. To be sure, I was thinking of suggesting her to op-hood, but I'm not exactly a follower - I do see her as a good friend, and a fellow otaku.

Kyro-kun, I know you don't hate me. And we've never had any problems. I just read the posts and I don't sense any animosity on your part. Don't worry.

Frankly, guys, it's fun when we have flirty exchanages and all, but lately, I'm getting tired of it. Mainly because I don't think many take me seriosuly, and that's sad.

OP: Asturian accent, Madrilian accent and I absolutely love some English accents. (except Cockney!)

All kidding aside, I do like you -- despite perhaps a rocky start. Doesn't mean I'll always agree -- but how boring would it be around here if everyone was all, "Oh, yes, me too," "I totally agree," all of the time?

I think I mentioned it, but I get comments on my complete lack of an accent...

Do you work in radio perchance?

I also don't have much of an accent, but that's just being from a certain area in England that has more of a 'generalised English' accent.

I like Northern Irish, Welsh, French, Spanish, Italian, most Scandinavian, South African, some Yorkshire.

I dislike Scottish, Manc, Brum, Cockney, Liverpudlian, German, most North American.

Generally, I divide accents into 'strong' and 'gentle', the latter of which is pleasurable, the former grating.

There's quite a few areas like that. The Cotswold, the Home Counties (well... crass generalisation, but whatever) etc. etc. Pretty much any affluent region, in the South.

Yup, Home Counties it is, though I wouldn't say people in this area necessarily have a posh accent either (certainly some do though).

I've been living in Ireland for near enough 6 years now, and most of the girls I've seen here have no sense of clothes, overdo their makeup to the extend that many of them look like orange clowns with no eyebrows, and sound like rusty hinges without volume control.

Well normally I'd say it has to do with the fetish Americans have with Ireland, but since Peep is an Englander, I have no idea.

Russian ~ I helped a tourist find his way and despite him being much older and obviously with his wife, his accent still had me pleasantly, tingly warm for the rest of the day.

Australian ~ Mmm.. we have an Australian tech support guy and when I call I have the urge to kick my computer a few times just to cause more problems and keep him on the line.
