Bugger los anarquistas, was always going to be futile. Viva, eh, some kind of middle-ground socialist movement, which would have been better than the 3 choices the Spanish really had :(

born, lived and still do, in the u.s. effing a. can't say as i've ever seen anything to be proud of about doing so either. just don't know as i would be about anyplace else if i had been either. not that i know i couldn't be or anything like that, just never really had the chance to see anyplace else to know how i felt about it.

suspect wherever i was i'd be less then completely pleased and happy with it, but again only suspect, don't really know, i just know that there is an awfully lot majorly wrong with where i do.

though i also believe most of what's wrong, wouldn't be that difficult to fix, if corporate organized crime, weren't so firmly intrenched preventing it from being so.

and all things do chainge, so there IS always hope.

maybe what i should say, is i was born in 'five nations' and grew up in 'maidu land'.
(but then of course, no one unfamiliar with those cultures would likely know what i was talking about. and then there's also the implications, that of my having closer indiginous ties, that much as i think i would like to, i mostly don't)

what i miss mostly about where i'm living now, which is still the maidu part of california, but down in the valley end of it, whereas its up a little ways in the foothills i consider my home, is trains, snow, mountains and forests. well the trains are here, roseville is still a big railyard town, and i live where i can hear, though not from my house see them, but where i grew up, you'd see them winding through the forest along the sides of mountains as they climed toward the summit.

Wow, check out the racism in this song. Why am I not surprised? No wonder these other verses never get sung...
... racism? Where?

Well, you probably wouldn't consider it racism unless it outrighted shouted "FUCKING GOOK NIGGERS!" but:

Alabaster is a fancy synonym for the colour white, and I don't have to explain whiter jubilee.
Wow. Two words, one of which refers to gypsum or calcite... when many government buildings were made from white stone like marble, limestone, et cetera...

Yeah. I guess you find racism if you really dig for it. And squint just right.

It's more likely they don't sing it all because it's just too damned long. They don't sing the second, third or fourth stanzas of The Star Spangled Banner, either.

There seems to be some discussion online about the term i "whiter jubilee" in the song being a reference to the Book of Revelation.

I was in Cork last year and the Irish still speak Gaelic as their first language on the west coast - I heard it. Fascinating (I think Tolkein based his elvish language on it).

I'm from the United States. The United States is much more descriptive than America, because while America refers to an entire hemisphere, there is only one nation on earth that is a federation of distinct, smaller regions.

More specifically, I am from the East Coast. Hence my elitism.
