Yeah...bar-hopping is something I'm still a few months away from.

Thankfully, I'm on the look-out for parties and the like going on that weekend. If someone I know is throwing one, or going to one where they'll be open to random people showing up and boozing/carousing, I'm sure we can make that work.

I think most importantly we need to figure out where this initial meet-and-greet is taking place, and also when.

Well the central problem is that a lot of the people coming IIRC (myself included) are underage. Now, that hasn't stopped me before, but it does certainly hamper painting the town red, if painting the town red involves bar-hopping.

My point about the hotels was that you can't exactly walk around with a bottle of absinthe.

Looking for parties is great, also I will have a hotel room at the Sheraton in University City. Alternately, some of us may want to check out a couple bars and split off, only to come back together again later. It is up to us when we're there, I suppose.

Agreed.

I think more importantly, we should figure out where the initial meet-and-greet is going on.

Again, I'm going to suggest meeting up at the 30th street station whenever it is we decide to meet.

Also, of the people who are coming, can we get a head-count of people who are staying into Sunday? Since I'm a thrifty bastard, and we have cool stuff we can do on Saturday, and since the museums in Philly are all free on Sundays, I figured we could organize some sort of trip to the Franklin Institute/PMA.

Also, the Sheraton is about 6-7 blocks away from The Bridge, a movie theatre. Just thought I'd mention that.

...it's also a block away, or on the same block, as a Wawa I used to frequent, that stocks Creme de Menthe ice cream.
Mmm...

.../tangent.

Frankly, I'd rather meet somewhere more fun, since people will be straggling in anyway. Like, we could meet at a food place, and have a good place to sit and chat for a while. Also, I'm hoping a couple of people will be willing to TG the attenders a cell phone number for those of us who won't all be arriving at the same time.

Well, we could TG you and Dubsy, since you're organizers, and assuming either of you get into the area reasonably early on the 25th, that should work.

Hmm, well, I have a few ideas. If people are filtering in through 30th, there are two good restaurants in the area I can recommend. There are also several decent, cheaper restaurants and eateries I can also recommend.

Ecco Qui (http://www.eccoqui.com/) I need to find out pricing for this place, I forget what it was (haven't been there in over a year, and someone paid that time.)

Edit: Asked a friend, entrees are "hardly anything more than $20." Probably a bit too expensive, so I'll keep looking.

Well, there's Pats. But it's entirely too far out from the train station for us to meet there.

There are a few random pizza places in the area around 30th, but the best one I can think of that is reasonably priced for the quality is Village Pizza (or California Pizza next door, depending on your inclination) on 33rd and Powelton.

I'd say noon, mostly, though it's not really my decision.

It's fairly easy to find. Once you get out of 30th street onto Market, just head west on Market until you see the sign for 33rd street. Then just head north, and you should see it on the corner on your right after 3-4 blocks.

I got the craving out of my system for now, anyway. One of my best friends was in town yesterday, so I took him to the Ethiopian place. Spent over $100 on the two of us, but sooooo worth it. :)

I'll rely on the real Philly people to tell me what to do, though I'll inevitably be disappointed when everyone decides on a place with few vegetarian options. But... I survive. :p

Oh, and there's Ajia, all-you-can-eat sushi place. $25 for a continuous supply of sushi. The only problem is that if you leave ANY sushi on the plates, they charge you extra. So you've gotta order exactly as much as you can eat. It's 3-4 blocks from 30th.

Nope. You get a little card for your entire table of people, and you fill out on the card the number of plates of each type of sushi you want (since the amount for each plate differs often by the type you're getting). Then they take the card, prepare it all, and bring it out in waves. When you've eaten it all, they bring out another card.

It's a pretty good turnout for our first time.

In the future, I think we should start putting it together at most a month and a half in advance. That way people have a better idea of what's going on on that particular date, and at the same time we don't lose people over time.

Okay guys, let's nail down some structure here. I tend to organize my trips around food (sad?) so here is my idea.

- Meet at Village Pizza (http://www.foodler.com/PA/Philadelphia/Pizza/Village-Pizza/1126.html) (which we were talking about above, although I don't know if it was agreed upon) around noonish. Hang out and shoot the shit for a couple hours, not necessarily staying there but maybe wandering around that area.

- I have to check in to my hotel around 2 I think, so I'll go do that. That would probably be a good time to break out and do sightseeing, shopping, w/e for a couple hours. Chances are we will probably split into groups depending on preferences.

- 6 or 7ish: naptime, get changed time, downtime, etc. for me, I don't care what other people do but I am an introvert and I can't be "on" all day. Y'all wear me out. :D

- 7 or 8ish: get dinner, maybe someplace unusual/nice. One of my favorite places is Pod (http://www.podrestaurant.com/), it's basically sort of asian food and it's moderate to pricey, but the atmosphere is a scream. If people want to go, I'll make reservations a few days before.

- Afterwards, either find a party (depends maybe on whether school is already starting for those colleges, does anybody know?) or go to a club of some kind, we've been discussing maybe Shampoo (http://www.shampooonline.com/events.php?day=7&id=76) although it is now made plain on their website that Saturday night will be a goth/industrial event, so maybe some other place if that's what people want to do.

- crash sometime that night

- if anybody will still be around/available, meet for breakfast. I've been to Cereality (http://www.cereality.com/intro.html) before, that was fun, although discussion is welcome and maybe people want to do a diner or something.

What do people think about any parts of this plan?

Mm...just "meeting friends" wouldn't cut it, unless there was something major happening in Phillie at the time. Even then, I dunno...I'd have to actually stage something to actually get a friend to come with me.

I don't think I can pull it off. Worth a shot, though. Unless someone else has other, workable, ideas.

I'm not either, I think it has to do with the type of light used in most camera flashes. That is why I pretty much never ever use flash, and my camera is good enough that it can take good pictures in low light for that. However, because the ISO is high, it is more likely to cause blurring. That is why so many pictures of mine come out blurry.

I'd rather look blurry than washed out and awful.

Blurry definitely >> washed out.

A few last-minute things:

- Try to get the number of somebody else who is going, for when you get lost/separated from the group. It WILL happen. A good idea is to get the number of the host (WC Imperial Court, not me) but anyone will do in a pinch.

- I am fully aware of the fact that many of us do not know each other's real names, or maybe we know one person's real name and that's it. That is okay. You will all tell me your names, and I will forget them SO FAST you won't believe it. Even if I have seen them before, or you have told me your name every day for a month. To that I say: sorry! Therefore: feel free to call people by their NS names, or bandy about the "Hey, you! You...with the...hair." And to those who expect people to remember their names: Get over it.

I personally like the name Ilie and I will be happy if you call me Ilie in RL.

I'm fine with Fleck. Or Flecky. How would you pronounce Ilie? Eye-lee or Ill-lee? :p

However, I need to get over my fears of 1) getting lost without a map 2) parking and 3) getting back. The most experience I have with driving in Philly is getting to work at the Navy Yard, and that's ridiculously easy. I'm not exactly trusting of those Mapquest types, but that's all I have.

Is there a specific age limit? I'm still working out the transportation detail with my parents, but I'm 16, and I can take care of myself. I really enjoy playing on nation states and am currently looking into a career in politics. Being around other players might give me an idea as what I should do, and it would be fun just to get out of Mount Holly for once. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be allowed in the club, but I've always loved just walking around Philly, my aunt lives out there in a nice little neighborhood.

Sure, I guess you can come if you want to. :) If you like, you can meet up with us for lunch/other afternoon activities and leave when a few other people have to leave in the late afternoon/early evening. FIRST STORY IS AUTOMATICALLY CORRECT
As far as I remember:

I arrived, after five hours of traveling. I got off bus, became slightly lost and wandered around drexel for around 15 minutes before spotting a random map and locating where we were supposed to meet. I got there, and saw, TMH, Deus, Jocabia, Ilie, Dubsy, Ilie's BF, that kid, and... no one else? They were apparently finishing pizza, which they offered me, but I wasn't hungry. I remember showing them the Japanese goodies, but people, thinking it was a bomb(?) were afraid to open it. At some point, we witnessed an explosion, but it was of pictures of Ruffy and came from Dubsy, not from me. We were waiting for someone, I think, but we decided it was too icky in the pizza place and decided to leave. We/Deus decided on a Japanese (except not really) place. We stuck a picture of Ruffy onto the wall, along with a description of where we went, possibly, so that the person who hadn't shown up would be able to find us. We walked for a couple of days through a dessert, surviving off the land and my ninja-like skillz, until we reached the official lunch-place, which was a couple of blocks/continents away. We sat around, engaged in a deep and meaningful conversation with/about a sentient melon who hid his/her/it's face from us. We proceeded to eat sub-par faux Japanese food, except for that kid, I think. By this point, Jocabia was up to his 1234231432513 argument, about possibility of intelligent life on NSG (I think we decided it couldn't be found). We stuck a picture of Ruffy where he belonged, underneath the table. Someone called us and engaged in phone secks with various members of the party... I think it was Fleck. Several people went to the bathroom, there was brief speculation about the possibility of Ilie and boy-Ilie getting married there, but we didn't have their parents. We then made another harrowing journey to a hotel, where we stood around and enjoyed air conditioning. We decided that success starts with Ruffy, and decided to make everyone else aware of that fact too. We decided, at one point, to go on a murderous rampage and blame it on Ruffy, and we even plotted how to break out of prison when we got arrested, but then we decided that prison might be too hot for us, or that we might be too hot for prison. I assume someone had secks at this hotel, considering how long we were their. I may have been present, but I was probably unconscious (kinky!). We also considered the possibility of going to the "please touch me" museum, but we didn't want to look that easy. Somehow, we decided to look smart, and proceeded to find out how we could get to the Science museum (the girlz went and asked a whole bunch of people, while the guys stood around in the backround, blocking the entrance to the hotel). We then made a journey of a couple years all the way to the legendary trolley of Philly, which was somehow underground, confusing me Greatly. We lost Deus to scavengers along the way. Luckily, his body probably kept them fed for generations (<.< >.> *flees*). Somewhere, sometime, we decided the kid was actually Stephen Colbert, cause of his hatred of bears. Or something. We got off the trolley, and walked several centuries through the canyons of some ancient planet until we got to that place we were getting to. I saw a dead cockroach on the ground along the way, but didn't point it out to anyone. However, my opinion of Philly is forever terrible because of it. Inside the museum where the smart people might be, we got terribly confused. Eventually, we gave 14 dollars a person to a machine, received tickets, didn't show them to anyone, and wandered into the science part. We viewed a magical, huge ball on a string, saw a lot of broken/dead hearts, including one giant one where people walked through. I became lost and confused various times, cause of the numbers of peoples. I estimate a total of 5.3 billion people were in the museum at the same time as us. We made it to the flight part of the museum, and flew around, visiting the moon and all that junk. We built several planes, sent them to the military, became multi millionaires, but then destroyed all of our money trying to make them float along with several eight year olds. Someone's hand got burnt doing something at one point, and Ilie and Dubsy almost biked through the air, but then were too cool for it. Some manly people ate vagina flavored smoothies (TM boy-Ilie), while the girly people ate various fruity flavors. No one ate my japanese goodies. We stood around for a long time, pondering whether to go back in time and visit the King tut. Someone was willing to go gay-pedo for him, but then we decided that if all the pedo's were locked up, only ten percent of child-rape would cease to exist. So we didn't go to egypt. We journeyed back to trolley (it was so long a voyage that the sun died and was re-born), and I once again saw the dead cockroach (GROSSSSSSSSSSSSS). We payed the city with TMH's secks (seemingly the only part of the trip Jocabia didn't pay for), so we had to leave him on the train. It was a teary goodbye. I was walked to the bus stop, and I handed over my japanese food-stuffs to the kid. I made life long enemies with Dubsy (CHASE UTLEY SUCKS ASS, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW). I waited for half an hour for the bus (the driver, when asked by someone who wanted to know the time the bus left: "7:30? I don't know, I was concentrating too much on driving to pay attention to time" (He was off by an hour)). I fell asleep on the bus, was woken up by thugs wanting my ticket, fell asleep again, and slept all the way to Manhattan, where several nice French girls woke me up, so I wouldn't sleep through the night on a bus. I managed to work the subway system to get to Grand Central, and interigated several Mets fans so I could shore up my excuse to my parents. The train opened at 9:30 PM, and I slept inside. Once again, thugs woke me up and collected another ticket from me. I fell into a deep sleep for another hour or so, before waking three stops before my stop. I called my parents, secured a ride home, and struggled to stay awake until I got to my stop. I fell asleep several times, but woke up several times too. I then got home, fended off questions from my mom, got home, took a shower and slept.

THis is 100% accurate.

Okay, well, first, let me say that Kiryu is a story-ruiner. Now, I shall never again talk about what happened before all the children left. Never. Again. I shalln't.

Everyone was really cool to meet. Except Ruffy because he sparked an argument and he wasn't even there. What a bastard!

Ilie and her lover were awesome. They helped me get to the airport. Several times in fact. I could have gotten there myself faster, but it's unlikely I could have done so much damage to their relationship without mooching the ride.

For those who don't know, based on our unbaised sampling, GM'ers are a handsome lot. Ilie is so pretty it's difficult to avoid parking meters, and so is TMH. Everyone else was too young to comment on. I feel dirty.

Everyone was terribly nice. It was annoying. Except Dubsy who kept hitting. She assured me it was because I'm like Gravlen, which I found insulting.

Look at all the walking in Kiryu's story, then double it, and make it involve walking past porn shops with a fifteen-year-old you didn't know existed before that day and that was our trip to get the kid on the bus. Of course after our epic journey we were informed that the bus had just arrived moments before, opened the door, laughed (yes, the bus laughed, or possibly someone on the bus. I don't know, I wasn't there.), and drove away spewing filth no one was aware of because it was Philly. So we called the bus company verified that person who'd offered the information was more poorly informed than Ifreann. So the kid got on the bus with the candy we didn't know how to eat and was probably fondled by elderly women.

I can tell you the rest of the stories involved drinking and secks and women, but none of them together. Some people were in Ilie's room and in my room at various times doing various things and talking about various people and perhaps doing some less than gentle touching.

That is my story. Thanks for ruining it, Kiryu. (And I'm including the fact that you didn't actually become conscious at any point during the meet-up.)

Numero Uno: I'm not "that one kid." Although, I guess I wasn't much to remember anyway, huh? :P

Numero Dos: Have a second opinion. It's not really different. Just something to read.

I missed my bus, Big bummer. I didn't think I'd make it, but then my dad decided to give me a ride to the pizza place, because my mom really hates Philly. I can only guess why. Well, I thought I'd be late, but it turned out I was actually an hour early. The pizza was greasy and horrible, and the company sucked, until Deus came along.

Ahh, Deus. I had no idea if you were from NSG or just some random dude eating disgusting pizza like the rest of the inhabitants of Philadelphia. They're easy to mix up you know. Well, I decided to take a shot, and indeed, you were a person I was looking for. We sat and talked, had a few awkward silences, until Mr. Jocabia showed up to say hello.

I think he was really uncomfortable around me at first, actually, I think everyone was uncomfortable around me the entire time, really.... Well, then Ms. Ilie and her boyfriend Mike showed up. Ilie was the only one I'd actually had contact with before the meet-up. Mostly just because I got bored, and I like to keep people who talk to my parents updated on what's going on. Before that though, Deus, Jocabia and I were discussing the finer points of a gang of mimes, and the probability of them taking over a whole city. The finding were astounding, I assure you.

Kiryu showed up with his box of japanese game-show gags, you know, the kind that spray fake snakes and those fake boulders?. There was much rejoicing at this point. Deus tried to get me with it the gag-box, by opening it with his keys towards my face. That last minute duck probably saved my life, if it were really a gag-box. It turned out to be a box of "snacks". The duck would have saved me, but making my little sister try the white powdered jelly things first also helped me out. What was that other one anyway Kiryu? A candied egg wrapped in bread? When leaving, we taped Ruffy to the wall with directions to where we were on the back.

Well, like Kiryu said though, we all left and Deus guided us to the sea, just like Ghandi, well. Not really. We went to the pseudo-japanese resturant and they ate to their hearts content. The greasy pizza had me feeling sick, so I didn't eat any. We argued about a great deal of things, and established that I do, in fact, not like bears, also, we did joke on each other a little bit. All caught on tape, thanks to TMH. Everyone ate everything 'cept me. Deus finally gave in at the end. Something must have clogged the small black hole in his stomach. We taped a Signature-ridden Ruffy to the bottom of the table and took our leave, Jacobia footing the bill.

We headed back to the hotel, and just sat around while everyone checked in. I was busy tearing into some twizzlers, so no one was in danger. We argued about where to go, contemplating going to a seminar about prison riots, but ultimately decided to go to the Ben Franklin Institute of Science. We traveled through the Heart section, where Ilie discovered her poor state of health, compliments of me tipping the scale of heart disease. We went through the aerospace museum and turned wheels and pressed knobs and pulled pulleys, watching the resulting crashs or winning what ever contest there was to win. Afterwards, we hung out and drank non-vagina smoothies. Apparently they were out of said manly-man flavor. I don't think we left the image of Ruffy and his fire though....

After this, we just headed back to the hotel. It was only Me, Ilie, her boyfriend, Dubbsy, and Jocabia left. Jocabia and Ilie & Co. went to their respecive rooms, while I stayed in mine, the lobby. It was actually really comfortable for the hour long snooze. Jocabia cleaned himself up and came downstairs to share some Japanese treats. Only nibbles now. We didn't want food poisoning.

After a while of just sitting and talking, we went to his room where he checked up on the forums and I tried to decipher the cryptic languages that adorned the deadly asian treats. I made no breakthroughs, and had to start heading towards the bus. Jocabia was nice enough to walk me to it.We talked about a lot of things on the way back, goverment, this and that, blah blah blah. I even got a book too. Thank's again Joc, it's a really good book.

The bus stop was just a big lump of suckage. Tourists who didn't know numbers told me the 413 already went by. I would have given up right there, but Joc helped me out and called the bus station. It was running late, so when we confirmed this, he left, and I climbed aboard the bus back home.

Epilogue: There were a couple people that piled into the bus after a few stops. A lot of 'em were nice folk, and I had a pretty goth girl to oogle every once in a while, but I think she enjoyed looking at me too. Well, I like to think that ^^;;

Overall grade for the trip: A. Lots of laughs, good fun, and a nice book and good memories to bring away from it.

I will intersperse my side of the story with theirs until my story continues without them.

I got there, and saw, TMH, Deus, Jocabia, Ilie, Dubsy, Ilie's BF, that kid, and... no one else? They were apparently finishing pizza, which they offered me, but I wasn't hungry.

The pizza was greasy and horrible, and the company sucked, until Deus came along.

Mike and I left at 9:30 and I thought we’d be late because of traffic jams but we got there at exactly noon. It was just Deus, Pfef, and Jocabia. I thought to myself, “Oh man.” I was sort of hungry so I got two pieces of pizza, which Mike said he would not eat before I got them. Dubsy showed up while I was trying to mop up the grease on the pizza islands, and she told me not to eat them so Mike ate one. Everybody that showed up after that got offered the second piece of pizza and nobody accepted.

I remember showing them the Japanese goodies, but people, thinking it was a bomb(?) were afraid to open it.

It kind of became an ongoing joke. I think we were all nervous about meeting each other so making Kiryu’s candy box into the scapegoat scary bomb box helped us pull together as a team. It was very nice of him to bring it though and he had to cart it around to every place we went, and I felt bad for him. I’m sorry we didn’t open it all together, because when I finally did see what was inside, it was completely hilarious and would have made for some memorable hijnks.

When Dubsy came, she took out of her purse a ton of photos that Ruffy sent us, along with a card for me (??) saying that I was evil and also being sad that he couldn’t go. When we decided to eat lunch someplace else, we were worried that Fleck and Cookesland and whoever else had said they were coming wouldn’t be able to find us. We wanted to leave a note, so Dubsy pulled out a bunch of index cards (ever prepared) but then we had a stroke of collective genius to write where we went on the back of one of the Ruffy pictures, and the pizza guy let us tape it to the wall near the entrance. As we walked, we had more genius ideas (possibly resulting from the extreme heat outside) that we would leave a Ruffy card in every place we went!

Lunch was fun, there was much videotaping and joking around. They made fun of me for writing down my order and giving it to the waitress instead of telling her, but it was a misunderstanding. I accidentally made jokes about wanting to be married to Mike about 3 times, which made everybody uncomfortable including myself. Kiryu lurked and The Metal Horde sort of did too, but Kiryu was the one that got ragged on for lurking. One booth away there was an open laptop, a tape dispenser, a pile of newspapers, a melon, and a bowl. It wasn’t disturbed even once the entire time. We assumed that the laptop and everything else belonged to the melon, which was a sentient being. Later when we needed tape for the Ruffy picture, we took some from the tape dispenser, and it was made clear that it was a magical “future needs” table where everything that everybody coming into the restaurant that day will eventually have a need for was sitting waiting for them. It was awe-inspiring.

We headed back to the hotel, and just sat around while everyone checked in. I was busy tearing into some twizzlers, so no one was in danger. We argued about where to go, contemplating going to a seminar about prison riots, but ultimately decided to go to the Ben Franklin Institute of Science.

We had to get back to the hotel so Mike and I could check in, but once we got there we all realized that nobody had planned what to do now. We saw a bunch of pamphlets at the hotel and I wanted to go to the Eastern State Penitentiary, which had some neat guided tours about uprisings and whatnot, but I got outvoted and we went to the Franklin Museum. I was persuaded with talk of a pendulum and a giant heart, both of which we saw. Dubsy and I had to figure out how to get us all there via public transportation, and I asked a lady while Dubsy waited for a man to get off the phone. While the lady and I were charting the bus route on the map, Jocabia came over and interrupted us a few times by saying things that sounded like they might mean something, but then we both looked at him and realized he wasn’t contributing anything to the solving of the problem, and went on ignoring him until he did it again. I finally had to yell at him and he went away cause his feelings were hurt.

Deus walked the whole way to the trolley with us, and then suddenly announced that he had to go just as the trolley was coming! It was very sudden and sad. Next time we will plan better so as to get more stuff done with the maximum amount of people.

Yeah, this is mostly accurate. :D

The Metal Horde was very funny because he had said he could hang out until 2 but when we were all standing around at the museum trying to figure out whether to leave or to see an Imax movie, he called a friend and was quietly saying things like, “Are you guys still doing that thing? Okay, I think I am going to try to make it to that.” So I guess he figured it wasn’t going to get any better with us and cut his losses and go back to school. ;) It was sad to leave TMH and Kiryu behind but we had been walking in the heat all day and I just wanted to curl up in a cool spot and go to sleep.

We had an awkward “What are YOU doing?” “I don’t know, what are YOU going to do” few minutes between Dubsy, Jocabia, the kid and I but then Mike and I went to get the car to go back to the hotel and Dubsy split off to eat or something and Jocabia brought the kid back to the hotel with him. When Mike and I got to the same hotel, we saw the kid in the lobby inspecting the candy Kiryu brought. It all said crazy things on the wrappers like “Have the happy fun time with sunshine and love will be all for needing.” Also one candy was just a tiny purple pill in a clear pouch will no writing, it was very suspicious. Jocabia was up in his room taking a shower and a nap and I almost felt bad enough to bring the kid up with us but I was exhausted and I figured he’d just be sitting around in our room instead of the lobby while we napped and I wouldn’t be able to get naked, so we left him in the lobby. Little did I know it would be the last we saw him! We weren’t up to leaving the hotel room or seeing people until something like 8:30, and when I called the kid back he said he and Jocabia were walking to the bus stop so he could go. Oh, the guilt, the terrible guilt! I had promised his dad to keep an eye on him and here I was sleeping on the job, also he was nice. I will feel bad about that forever, so now we have to have another meetup that he can come to again so I can smother him and never leave his side.

Okay that is the first installment of the trip, I will post the rest after I’ve gotten some work done. At work. :D

Hehe, sounds great. And so much more readable than Kiryu's, too. ;)
And what's up with the "the kid"?! Couldn't they remember your name? Sheesh, impolite old fogeys.

Love them! Esp. the sticking of Ruffies to objects. Lovely. I keep imagining some random, unknown NSer walking around Philadelphia and getting all paranoid. :p

And Ilie got to eat at one of her crazy eating places! (Oh, and Ilie, I covet your purse there! And your travel bag, too. [/girlyness])

Cody. And The Kid is a compliment. He worked himself into the group so well that we gave him a nickname.

The Kid and I got to see them pick up the success signs. The picture was still up and the guy looks at it funny, shrugs and picks up the sign and adds it to his stack. He does not remove the picture. Huzzah.

Yes! They wouldn't go to Pod with me cause we'd already had sushi but taht is okay. The travel bag was a borrow from my sister but the purse is mine! Thank you!

Okay, so Mike and I crashed in the hotel room and we were very hot and sweaty and headachy so we sort of tried to sleep but people kept calling me and also my headache wouldn't go away so I got up and showered at 7:30. I couldn't get Mike up for ages (he is a sleep monster) so I told the kid when he called that we'd maybe be able to get out of the room at 8:30. Then Mike finally got up and showered so I called the kid back and he said he was leaving, that he and Jocabia were going to the bus stop. (Again: the guilt!) So we still weren't really up to par and I asked Mike what he wanted to do, and he said we should order and pizza and watch TV. Can you tell we are introverts? So as Dubsy and Jocabia called back to see what was up, we invited them to the hotel room for pizza and chilling out before we went back out.

Unbelievably, we had a great time, Dubsy, Jocabia, Mike and I, eating pepperoni and sausage pizza and watching Lord of the Rings on TV and joking on each other. Then Gravlen called, reminding us that we should be out having a good time for his sake. His hot, thick Norwegian accent gave me a powerful need to drink also, so we left. Dubsy led us to a nearby cafe/bar, and although we intended to bar-hop, we ended up staying there most of the time because they did not card 20-year-old Dubsy and it seemed fine. I almost ordered a mojito and boy-Ilie reminded me that I hate them so why would I order another one, and I said I wanted to give the mojito a chance and maybe other places just made them badly. So Jocabia ordered for me a variation of mojito involving brandy or something, and I drank some of it until they made me admit that it was very awful, and Dubsy tried it and loved it and ordered another one, which freed me up to drink White Russians which is what I should have ordered in the first place.

Unbelievably, we talked the most about NS the whole time. Funny threads, unpopular threads, threads made solely for the purpose of hating on Jocabia (??), people that we like, people that we think are misunderstood, and people that we wish were at the meetup. We also had some major arguments about Ruffy's name, male circumcision (Jocabia is against it, fyi), asexuality, and various and sundry other topics that I have conveniently snipped out of my memory. Then the boys talked about computers while Dubsy and I talked about pity hookups, and we all got pleasantly drunk to various degrees. Dubsy and I went to the bathroom and found out many things including that the bathrooms were labeled "Pointers", "Setters," "Republicans" and "Democrats" and that apparently girls are considered "Setters" and "Republicans" according to this specific cafe/bar. We proudly displayed the last Ruffy picture and got the hell out of there when we realized that if we didn't act fast, we wouldn't be able to buy more booze and pizza and take it back to the hotel room because things close at 2 in Philly.

So we went to Allegro's which is a pizza place that also sells booze and we got minimal quantities of booze and pizza, just enough to sustain us for a couple more hours, and discovered to our chagrin that we were out of Ruffy pictures. Then we went back to my hotel room and turned on the TV and tried to play a poker drinking/stripping game but we were already drinking and we didn't think anybody would be willing to strip. Then I took Dubsy to Jocabia's room and tucked her in on the floor so she could get 3 hours sleep before work and we all went to bed.

Well, the main problem, Mike, is that we need people who know Toronto and live in Toronto to host it and find places for us to hit and whatnot. I obviously can't do that, because I have never been more eastern in Canada than Edmonton...so I don't know what the East is like at all. I nominate Dobbsy or CanuckHeaven or one of those Toronto guys to host it.

Dobbsy lives in downtown TO, and was full of suggestions the first time I brought it up. I guess we'll wait for you to get settled in, and then start thinking of a game plan.

Trust me, you don't want me hosting NS Oshawa. :p

To capture that whole Canadian Winter thing? Sure! We would have to capture other trademark Canuck things as well.

But this is a Philly thread! And a fine one it is! Well played folks! Well played!

When I got to the pub I made a joke about this. No one laughed. They just assumed I was being serious and asked which street I'd been on. I was mortified.
