Well done you! And you get free money! That is what a scholarship is, right? Free money?
And you do a lot more for your school than me...dedication, huh?
Yes. The great thing is that Florida has a scholarship available that covers 100% of tuition to any public college in Florida. I plan
to apply for that. The money I got last night will probably go towards books or something like that.:)

Neat. You'd certainly deserve a scholarship like that.
We get those, kinda, over here, but it's (nine times out of ten) entirely dependant on your exam results. We're quantity over quality people here.
I got $400 in scholarships!:D (A check for $300 and a separate check for $100, from two different organizations or funds or whatever.)
I also got a nice plaque recognizing that I've been a tutor in the program for 3 years and a nice pin recognizing that I had outstanding attendance (missed only three times- once because I had to help set up the induction ceremony for National Honor Society, once for the State Latin Forum, and once for making up work for physics class in advance for the class time I missed during the State Latin Forum.):)
:D Today was such a good day for me.
Congratulations :) Happy for ya, kiddo :D :fluffle:

Ah. My SAT scores were well over the requirement for the 100% scholarship (1410 out of 1600 possible where 1270 was required), although plenty of other people get higher scores than that (although not too many people at my school do, but a friend of mine got a 1520 and a senior classmate got a 1550)
So how was your day today?:)

You'll have to explain how they score that, seems like a whole lot of points. We just have levels 3-8 for SATs, and they're taken at age 7, 11, and 13.
So how was your day today?:)
It's rather nice for someone to ask. Thankyou! Well, it was rather good actually. No free money, but I did have double chemistry. We were covering PKa and ventured into indicators. All rather interesting actually.
I had a tutor on "Staying Safe Abroad". Well, that was pointless. Nothing I didn't know already. Stuff like, "keep your money seperated" and "give your details for cards etc. to someone at home". Common sense, really.
Oh, and I had work tonight. But it went rather quickly for once. Which was also nice.
Thankyou for asking!
Speaking of how days are going, how's yours so far?

May be completely different thing but with the same initials. Your SATs sound more like my FCAT (in Florida). It's taken every year, but the key year is 10th grade, since if you fail that and don't pass it upon retakes, you can't graduate high school. Our SATs are college entry tests that are meant to correlate with success in college.

I remember Pka, sort of. We did a lab involving it once (well, I think we were trying to find the Ka and need to use the Pka to get to it or something like that. I know it involved weak acids...)
Ah. What do you do at work (I mean what kind of work)?

It was a decent day. Not too much work. I got to play Pokemon Pearl for a while in English class since I finished the vocabulary work really early (it was easy as I knew all but one of the words already).
I'm trying to work on some physics homework now, as well.:)

Well, they're not that serious. Seems harsh to me. "You've failed twice! NO GRADUATION FOR YOU!"
Well, they get more chances than just two, and it's really not a difficult test. By the way, my brother just found out that he got the highest possible score on the writing test (for 8th grade). Makes me really proud of him. I got a 5.5 on the 10th grade one (6 possible; 5.5 means that 1 grader gave me a 6 and the other gave me a 5.)
I'm so proud of my little brother! Well, I'm proud of both of them. The other one got a 100% on an algebra test that everyone else in the class did very poorly on (the brother who got a 6 on the writing test got a D.) I'm excited that they'll be at the same school as me next year, and it'll be their freshman year and my senior year.:)

It seems pretty good so far. I'm only at the point where I have 1 badge and my highest level Pokemon is level 17. Though my Abra is a level away from evolving, so that's good. Seems promising so far anyway.:)

I just need to work somewhere that is flexible about hours and such. The grocery store employs a bunch of high school students and from what I've heard is good for that sort of thing. I'm taking 7 AP classes next year, so I need plenty of time to do all of the summer assignments.

The problems I'm doing now are like figuring out where the pivot on a seesaw would be located if it's balanced and the kid on one side is 400 N and the kid on the other side is 300 N. That sort of thing. We kind of just started it.

Oh, it can be good. When the other people you work with are all really nice people, when your boss goes home every day at about 1, when it's accepted that you have a few drinks on Saturdays (sometimes Fridays as well), when you and somebody else from work take the odd sunny afternoon off and go sit outside a bar in the sun (and cover for others when they do the same), and then the people you're serving are all generally OK.
Oh, and when you're getting paid above minimum wage cash in hand.
I got me a good job.

I'll assume that's a lot of hours. My work were fairly flexible in that they gave me hours to put on my contract that I could work. Unfortunately, should my timetable change (it won't at this point, but if it should have), I'd have to predict it 12 weeks in advance.

Good. Formal, I think, would look nice on you. Mind you, I have a habit of going to college in shirt and trousers, usually with a proper suit jacket as well. Maybe that's over the top. It does get me questions though. "why are you wearing that." "do you not own any pairs of jeans", and, by far my favourite, "oh my god what a nerd". Although that's a statement rather than a question, it does make me smile.

Yeah. I'm going to try to finish all of the chemistry homework that's due next week this weekend (homework questions due Monday, one lab report due Weds., another lab report due Fri.)

On May 16 I have the AP English Language Exam at 8 am.
On May 18 I have the AP Latin Literature Exam at noon.
Then the week after that I have the semester exams, and that's the last week of school for me. Seniors finish school a week before the rest of us, though:)

Our actual exams are that last week of school. We get out of school fairly early in the year here, but they're changing that for next year (which means my summer is lengthened by two weeks this year!:) )
The only two AP exams I'm worried about are the Chemistry one and the US History one (for that one mostly because it's a broad subject and you can be asked pretty much anything, whereas for the other exams it's usually more discrete- like in Latin where we know that the poems on the syllabus are the only ones we're tested on in the free response/essay portion of the test.)

It sucks because we're doing Growth, Development and Reproduction rather than Applications of Genetics, which has a lot less to learn about and much fewer terms. Stupid women outnumbering me....I hate that module so much...

Lucky you - although, I think my summer goes up by a week. Altough, by then, I may be working full time for Patheon or Cardinal Health. In a pharmeceutical and chemistry-related position, no less. Depends how they feel about it.
Cool. :)

Wow. Dang. That's....a whole lot. What's AP Latin Vergil anyway?
It's a course that focuses on the Aeneid by Vergil, just as the AP Latin Literature exam focuses on the poems of Catullus and of another author (in my case Ovid.)
And don't you love how we've hijacked this thread entirely? We've got about three pages to us!

It was pretty good, but busy. I had a quiz in psychology, then I had Latin class, then I had a test in history followed by a quiz in physics (I got a 90% on that one). Then I waited afterschool for a while playing Pokemon Pearl, and went to the AP Chemistry review session for maybe half an hour before my best friend's mother gave me a ride home. It was a pretty good day overall. :)

Well...I was up at 1-ish talking with you on here :D , which meant that I was nearly late for college (had a late start, didn't have to be in until 11 - I dragged myself out of bed at 10.10), for an hour of chemistry. Got paid today, about £250 ($500), so I went into town and did a bit of games shopping for the laptop. Just to stretch it a little. Then I had 2 hours of maths, we're doing differential equations now.
Cool.:) Are differential equations part of calculus or something else?
Edit: I have to go now. I'll be back in probably about 15 minutes.:)

Yay, the timewarps are back! :D
And differential equations fall under calculus, yes. Things like: Find the integral of x(y+1) = 32. Usually ends in natural logarithms, which aren't so bad. Applications usually involve populations, and we did an example on a murdered body, found at 6.00 with temp. 25 deg., at 6.30, had temp. 22 deg. Find out when he died.
Interesting, but difficult. Lots of integration by parts and things.

Then I guess I have a year or so before I'll learn about that kind of thing (depending on if it's taught in AP Calculus AB or not, I guess).

That much? What is the usual cost?
That high cost may be due to needing to tear up concreted land and put in new foundations. It may also include the cost of upgrading your current tram fleet.
What would you suggest that money be spent on?
