exactly, what can i say it's part of our culture i guess. and the worst thing is, getting tummy's is something for old people, and i'm only 19 (well, almost) (and yes for my last birthday i recieved +- 3L beer)

on the other hand it could have something to do with the time of the year, all those hollidays and the exams (sitting all day), so i suspect to lose some weight during the summer (festivals and working for a month)

However, people do become more/less attractive as you talk to them. In the end, anyone can become attractive/ repulsive depending on what comes out of their mouth (or how they smell).

actually, last thursday, i talked to a guy who is part belgian / part american. he was on a holliday here, and he confirmed that the american beers suck (well at least the ones he tasted) and that americans have a different way of partying. (in houses and stuff :confused: and with a lot of police driving trough the neighborhood).

parties here are mostly organised by youth movements like chiro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiro) or by schools or other organisations. so they mostly put up large tents or give their party in great halls wich are there for larger events, or sometimes just in a larger room in a pub.
in student cities there are student societies that give parties, but also mostly in large rooms (like ballrooms or chambers in the back of a pub). and there are also some clubs one can go to to party (wich can also be rent to give your own party).
when we give homeparties, there aren't a lot of people invited (like maximum 20) and everybody brings drinks. this doesn't happen a lot though.

at least that is how we do it in my area, wich is only a small part of Belgium and an even smaller part of Europe.

here in the UK houseparties are fairly rare, and i've only been to one truly 'american-style' one in my life. i've been to others but they're far more low-key and smaller and just not the same.
i'd say we don't "party" as much.... more just go out to pubs/clubs and get pissed (though university unions tend to put on a decent party atmosphere). houseparties are something of a kids thing over here, i guess.

Personally, I hate doing so. I'm not sure if it's something with my local area or not, but nearly everywhere I go bouncers seem to be brutal bastards and throw out people for no reason, punch them in the face and steal the drinks they were carrying. Okay, I lied. There probably was a reason in addition to wanting the drinks I was carrying, since the night that happened to me there were about 4 guys to every girl, so.... :p

But yeah. If i'm out on my birthday I don't want to worry about being manhandled and I can't afford to book someplace for a private function (not that that changes anything - I was at a private 21st birthday about two months ago where the host got thrown out for being drunk. Only took them a couple of minutes to realise the mistake, but they'd already pushed him into a taxi*. Ha :D), so if i'm having a party, i'd much prefer a houseparty with a group of 10-20 people. Any more and security comes into it, though...bah. :/

But you cant go to "upstairs" in a pub, right? There are always washrooms but I dont think they are as comfy as beds. Well, parties are usually in houses. But they may belong to fraternities, rather than being owned by regular people. But we also go to bars and stuff...
