No, not really. There's plenty of good rap out there. It just isn't produced by two-bit obnoxious pseudo-pop types like 50 cent or Tupak.

Lol. I dont much like old school rap....or new age rap....or....rap. The Gym Class Heroes brand of slight emo hip hop is my only exception. =/

Well if your talking about new rap then yes. But old school is actually farely decent. If you want to know about that listen to some of the old stuff by Tupac shacor or Biggie Smalls. They actually talk about things that are important, its really meaningful not like the new "I'm gonna smack my bitch up" rap.
Heculisis
30-12-2006, 17:15
Obviously its not your style, you accused my tastes of only being MTV emo. This would have too include Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs. Read the snip your quoting next time. Panic! At the disco is emo influenced, but mostly indie/elctronic, so they cant really be defined as MTV emo. =/

Panic! not emo? They got recognized because they sent their stuff to Fall out Boy. Emo influenced = Emo. Panic! at the disco= Mtv Emo. Those bands you've listed are only two exceptions. If those are the only bands outside that genre you can list that you listen to then thats completely pitiful. You can go back to listening to Fall out Boy now.

Not all new rap is like that...

Among musicians and fans, but among average people, they don't. Especially where I'm from. Me and my friend are the only two kids who know who the MC5 even are in my school, and as for Jeff Beck, I was insulted by the fact people didn't know who he was.

Yeah, well, they've had their day, seen their popularity, and made their riches by selling millions of albums. It doesn't really bother me that nobody knows half of the music I listen to. As long as I enjoy it, that's the main thing. The ignorance can be mildly irritating and occasionally in need of being set straight, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter.

He's got a point. New Rap deals with all kinds of important sociopolitical issues, such as shooting fags in the face with a magnum, raping someone's mother, and dealing crack.

You can continue being a willfully ignorant fool if you like. Not all rap and hip hop is "gangsta" oriented. There's a wealth of artists out there that cover themes as diverse as anything in rock music.

If you don't like the style, fine. I couldn't care less. However, don't make foolish statements that have no backing in reality. It just makes you look dumb.

"Well, get this into your head: What I did wasn't a flame. I was simply stating fact."

1) It is not a fact that Zakaron looks stupid, it's your opinion.
2) We've established here that "fact" can be flame depending on how it's presented. Example: "Many Americans are obese." vs. "I guess you're one of those waddling fatties, Yank."

Your a complete moron if you're suggesting all the bands I listed are without talent. =/ As for thier lyrics, I dont care what you think, if you like shitty classic rock, stick too that. Ill stick too my thing.

And once again, you suffer from a lack of blood, or possibly a fist-sized tumor in your skull, if you define the Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand, as MTV emo. =/

Could you uhm, maybe refer a band too me?

MTV emo is boring. You should investigate some real emo.

You should listen to some Four Hundred Years, some Small Brown Bike, some Saetia, some Mohinder and some Rites of Spring. :)

Im sorry, but this seems absolute ludacris too me, as the abreviation suggests that the actual definition refers too the physical word, namely popularity.

Millions of Americans do think alike. Why else would I consider it important to differentiate between myself and them? I despise them, and I despise the way they think.

And yes, if the "Sweaty Austrian Polka Quartet" exist with selling records in mind, care only about being popular (that doesn't mean they are popular), use their music as a vehicle for mindless, vapid lyrics, and simply care about sounding good, they are the same as Good Charlotte. They're probably better, too, since Good Charlotte is musically uninteresting, and Austrian Polkas are lots of fun.

Pop is just a mindset. It's a mindset of mindless, sexually driven, music that intends to sell a synthetic world that is all the fantasy of the "musicians" to people because it cannot deal with the real one. It is just materialistic, money-grubing, un-art.

Um... Huh? Erm... Art is a means of selling expression, so it is, by it's nature, a commmercialization of expression, no?

Hey, you're writing accurately enough... If you're drunk, you're a hell of a co-ordinated drunk.

I am ashamed too share many a fan base with them...

Anywho, pop punk is an alternative too the harder genres of punk, more apolitical and lack of gritutiotus sexual detail and profanity. Mainstream appropriate.

Lack of any content at all, morelike.

Ausha, how much real punk have you ever even heard before?

So... What you're saying is that you are conversing entirely through your hat.

Well... That's nice to know. I suggest that before attempting to discuss what is or, as in this case, is not punk, that you listen to some real punk. It will help you to understand the topic.

And, coincidentally, that's my monkey.

Coincidentally, that would consititue listening too what you define as real punk, and would conflict with other understandings...

Can you tell I'm drunk?

Even harder to tell. It really is all a perspective thing.

That or it's drugs speaking :P. I'm not sure if he said he wouldn't listen to real punk because it would change his mind (god forbid!) or if he litteraly just paroted back to me what I just said.

Did anyone see Panic! at the disco on the New Year's Eve thing? I mean, are their voices usually that quiet, or did their amps not work?

Check out Sonata Artica.
