True, geekiness requires an interest in geeky subjects.

Such as my infatuation with Star Wars. :D

Yeah. SW and ST are the famous two. Good old sci-fi-with-little-to-no-resemblance-to-actual-science. They should just call it high-tech fantasy. Not that I dislike them - they're pretty good entertainment.

You've got a rose shaped like a crucifix on your back that you'll need lasers to remove. Congrats.

Next time if you feel like drawing, get a piece paper and pencil or even some pretty pens. It hurts less, it wont get infected, and when you get older and your tastes change you can put the piece of paper in the attic.

If you're going to get body mods, get a boob job.

I don't usually combat other's views upon art, but tattoos suck! I'm sorry to hear that your chance of dying of infection has risen %66 percent along with back pains!

And if you decide to remove that tattoo, (which I hope you do), you will need a professional -tattoo-remover that removes them via laser, which will UNDOUBTEDLY cost you 3000$ just for the minimum treatment!

I'm sorry for critisizeing, but this a general forum, and I feel the need to say my mind.

Yeah, not gonna regret that when you're 80...

jesus there are a lot of assholes on these forums!
the lady asked for a critique of the tattoo, not of her decision to get it

for me i dig it - tasteful design and i especially love the meaning it holds for you
it would be great to see a lerger shot of the tat - it looks liek very clean work but it's hard to tell from the small pic you posted

i've four tattoos myself, getting another on wednesday, and planning a spine tattoo comprising 33 tiny tats (one on each vertebrae) in the new year

just ignore the wankers - it's amazing how people without tattoos get so much more uptight about them - those of us who are inked just appreciate the art...

I quite like it, and I'm glad you're not listening to the assholes on here :)

I've considered a tattoo - I know what I'd want and where, but I'm no good with any sort of pain :p

the amount of pain varies with the location of the tattoo
the two i have on my upper bicep/side of shoulder barely hurt - i almost couldn't tell the difference between the pen he drew the tattoo on with and the needle when he started inking me
the big tat running up my chest/belly hurt like a bastard however - over the kidneys was excruciating, as was under the armpit

where are you planning it?

Yea, I try to ignore them, or at least rid the world of their existance. Anyway, i don't have a larger pic as of yet, but will post once its done healing and doing its thing with the peeling and the 'we don't like getting washed three times a day so we are going to be sore' thing.

It would be at the top of my arm. Even getting my ear pierced hurt like hell so I know I'd be hopeless when it came to a tattoo :p

piercing is nothing if you get it done by needle. guns suck. =)

that's where i meant by shoulder/bicep - that's about the least intense place to get one that i know of - you should be right

piercing is nothing? i've got both nipples pierced twice (one horizontal and one vertical), all four professionally needled, and all four times hurt like a *&*@%$^&!

I like tattoos (as long as they aren't stupid ones, of which there are a lot) and I think yours looks very nice. And I really doubt that the usual "you'll regret that when you're old" crap has any chance of being correct, since it has deeper meaning for you. Cool design, I've seen the Kushiel's cover (my friend is really likes that story, though I haven't read it) and I think yours actually looks better.

http://www.freewebs.com/genesisversai/tat123.JPG I tried to get a better shot and the overall orientation on my back. The middle pic is weird because i held a camera over my back and took a picture. but it give you detail of the petal. Keep in mind there is lotion over it to keep it moisturized while still healing which is why the shine.

I love the design of the rose. As for its concept, I think that it best fits your backside due to how it was done. While I personally would've liked to look at a tattoo on my body directly, I won't diss you on your choice.

So, once again...

For you, it fits perfectly. Enjoy!

And ruin the fun of all that detail being lost? i couldn't bear it. it would be a crime to the artist =)

I'm impressed.

I wanted one when I was younger, but chickened out. Thought about it again, but the wife won't let me now.

My mate had a real cool lion & Union Flag put on his shoulder blade and I was supposed to have one done too (not a lion & flag though. I was supposed to be having a dragon). He went first and I just ran. That is nearly 20 years ago now. His tattoo still looks cool and he still mocks me about it today.

I think my wife is scared of me having a tattoo now in case it is the start of the "mid life crisis".

just do it. take chances or you will regret not taking them in the future. get it in a place that is appropriate for work and won't be seen if your worried about it.

Wow Rave. You look -alot- like my wife, except she sports her hair long since I like it thataway. Very nice. ;) I like the tat alot. Don't listen to the crap about coloring it up or changing it in any way. Body art is going to be extremely personal, so asking for others approval is fruitless. As long as it turns you on, that means it's fantastic.

Here's my tat, which has alot of meaning for me, and is also the beginnings of a half-sleeve that's already been designed. It just hasn't been finished because I'm a broke-ass. I don't really care for the flames, and intend to cover them, but I dig it lots. My pried-open third eye:

And here's one of me smoking pot in my underwear, just for good measure:

Mind you, that's been awhile back, and my hair is now well past my shoulders and I'm sporting the full beard.

Just talked to her about it. She says I can have one - in another 20 years, if I'm a good boy.

O_O well, thanks for the first paragraph. I do like eyes, but that isn't a really clear picture of the tattoo. I actually just cut my hair a month ago. It used to be down to my back. I miss it now, and am growing it out. It was good to have it short for my performances though. It's easier to take care of.

As for the second picture, i don't know what to do or say, so i will leave it at that. I'm not a big fan of drugs. o.O;
