Hmm, I don't actually read or write all these funny symbols. Talk about an education.

It sounds a bit like "flow-ree-uhn", except that the "r" is pronounced the German way, further back in the throat rather than with the tongue.

Sounds like I was close, except I was a little short on the flow, and not german enough in the Ree. But I think I've got it now :)

Long story, but with my hair and facial features I can get away with it. As long as I've shaved recently (People have mistaken me for an underdevloped female). Plus I have an arse to DIE for.

Edit: And as that man in the carpark said "Come-to-bed eyes"

Florian.

Yeah, it sucks having a name no English person can get right. Instant conversation starter. Pity that the conversation annoys the living shit out of me.

These days it's become "Flozza", which is great. Bogans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogan) love it.

Is that a somewhat common name in Germany? The guy who made the Wolf 3D editor I use was named that too.

Anyway, I'm Sean.

Fairly common, yeah. But that doesn't really help on the other side of the globe. People just abuse it horribly, and then it ends up being "Florynn" and I just end up saying "yeah, close enough" because I'm tired of explaining it.

I was about to say something like "Whoa, what a cool thread where you can see peoples gender"... but then I realized there's always.. special people..like you around. Tzz. What? Bob's not good enough for you?

Now I have to stop feeling special about knowing your name.. pity, that. Oh well, I'm still one of the select few who knows yours, so eh.

Hmm, I don't actually read or write all these funny symbols. Talk about an education.

It sounds a bit like "flow-ree-uhn", except that the "r" is pronounced the German way, further back in the throat rather than with the tongue.
Hmm, I don't think you can reasonably expect them to get the actual German pronunciation right. But that's not soooo bad, is it? When I was in the US, nobody pronounced my name "in German", it was the English pronunciation all the way.
But if you don't demand German pronunciation and are just annoyed that they don't even halfway get it right even in English, why not just tell them it's pronounced like the DeLorean in the "Back to the Future" movies? It's the first thing that came to mind when trying to say it in English. :)

And you're a car buff, so yay. :p

Damn, that post has been edited twice already and there's yet another one I didn't catch? Buggers. That should, of course, have read "have"..

I'm sick and you know it! So I'm not to be held responsible for any of my actions, and yes that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it..

VUK

Gender: Masculine

Usage: Serbian

Other Scripts: Вук (Serbian)
Means "wolf" in Serbian.

and

DEJAN

Gender: Masculine

Usage: Serbian, Croatian, Slovene

Other Scripts: Дејан (Serbian)
Possibly derived from Slavic deja meaning "to do something, to act". Otherwise it may be related to Latin deus "god".

Boring I guess, I would have wanted something cooler, like.... Borislav, Gojko, or something. :(
