the official official National Novel Writing month is in November of each year, but if you go register and get on the forums you will find people who write a novel every month. There is a group starting one again in December.

That's insane. I hardly get ideas for a short story twice a month.

Alright, I am somewhat on track. I got very close to my 3k today, and if I keep this up, I might even end up finishing a day early. *hopes very much*

Although I do have to admit that my novel, and my character(s), strayed veeeeery very far from where they started, and where they were supposed to be heading..

How is everybody else doing this close to the finishing line?

Hit 35K. I feel like I'm almost to what I thought of as the midpoint of the story when I conceptualized it... just another 5-10K words or so, and we'll have that crucial midpoint meeting, and then...

... dangit. I'm going to have to keep going afterwards, aren't I.

While it is not that drastic, and I really didn't have no concept to start with, I am sorta stuck in a place now (with 43k now) where I just cannot leave it like the way it probably is gonna be in 7k.. but there i sno way in hell I am gonna keep doing it right after Thursday. I'll take at least one week off any writing at all..

That really is too bad. No chance, ever? I wouldn't ahve thought to be able to come this far after my week or so I didn't write a word, and now it' s only 7k in two days and that's reasonable.. I still can't believe it, but I may just as well make it.

I'm about to hit a wall in that I realized last night that I have an enormous mountain of stuff that needs to get done by Thursday at 5 pm.

... some of which I'm already behind on. This is going to get ugly, but if I don't make it under the wire, I'm going to finish it on the weekend anyway.

I'm at under 20,000 still. I'm going to try and do as much as I can, maybe get halfway there before the end of the month. Of course, it's the end of the quarter, so things are piling up like mad.

no chance by the deadline, I will continue to work on it until it is finished though. I figure I will be done about Jan 1

I'm holding my breath here that you get things done, and be it writing from 5pm on until you get there. It's okay to collapse unconscious after that.

It's good to see you keeping on trying; set yourself a half-way reasonable wordcount goal and go for it :)

I'll hold you to that. Expect a TG by me on Dec 31st on it :)

Unfortunately, I also have to be awake, coherent, and in full possession of my wits Friday from morning until 5 pm.

Hmm. I see you have not been all that successful in building a true NaNoWriMo participant's character for the rest of the world to see in the past. You see, nobody expects me to be all too coherent or in possession of all that many wits during any part of the year, month, week, or day no matter what I am or am not doing, so it would not really matter.. but, you know, convey the image of being a decent reliable person once, and you ahve screwed up for the rest of your life. Expectations must suck.. or so I am told...

P.S. my wordcount is at 48608 at this very second, it is 22:55 and I have vowed to not leave this spot (uni library) until I am at a verified 50k. Oh yes.

There have been so many days I thought I would never make it, and I still do not now how I made it, and in fcat my head is spinning slightly and I think I just need to do.. something, here it is: I passed the 50k, I'm in, I'm out, I'm.. everything? Oh Holy Elk, I juts need to get out, I guess. It's 23:58 after all :D

Ok, I've got 2 days, almost all my other work done, and 18,000 words. I've got a strategy that I think can chew up some word count: I'll be including "Intersteller Encyclopedia" entries explaining things about the setting. Also, when it comes to tomorrow, I'll just throw in every little bit of plot that's already in my head waiting for it's cue and trying to get out.
So who thinks I can get 32,000 words down in two days?

I do. No shit, I do. I've done worse myself, not this year, at least not with my NaNo, but I know it is perfectly doable. If you need to, read ove rthe 'word padding' thread sin the NNWM fora, but even without them, you can do it if you really set to it. Masel tov :)

I'm close. Almost 43K. I'll spend a couple more hours and try to make sure I pass 45K today. Then I have a chance to finish tomorrow.

I'm rooting for you here, sir. Anything specific you want me to include in my night's prayer?

Meh. There was too much that needed to get done that didn't get done by Thursday at 5.

Oh well. I'll keep working on it anyway. Should hit 50K this weekend and then I'll start throwing copies around for the early-read editors while I blot it out of my mind until NaNoEdMo.
