There was something said in the Spandex thread that got me thinking.

What are your opinions on what 'Fat' is? How heavy to you believe a person needs to be before they're considered fat? or is it in the appearance? Or does it simply not matter to you? and which is more attractive?

The border of fat can often be defined by the person's attitude. Being very active can artificially drop you 10 pounds so it is hard to say.

But I prefer fit.

I'l have to say something between healthy slim and healthy curves. So overall fit for me

You're onto something about appearance. I've seen people that weighed more than they looked and weighed less than they looked. I also have talked to people who say "I don't care how much I weigh as long as it looks good". People sometimes wear baggy clothes and it gives the appearance that they're, perhaps, thinner than they are. Many are considered overweight but not necessarily fat. Hell, body builders and athletes are overweight. I think that it's mostly an appearance issue.

As for preference, skinny is gross, just like super fat. I'd have to say thin or normal(whatever that means).

True. And also, it depends quite a bit on how tall the person is.

Personally, I prefer healthy curves. Models creep me out.

I'm not really looking for the 'official' stats on it, more just what people think in their own mind about it :)

"Healthy slim" and "healthy curves (and whatever the equivalent is for guys, who are not terribly curvy)" are both attractive. Basically, being healthy is attractive. Giant bulging muscles o' doom are not particularly attractive, though, at least not to me. I like people to look like ordinary human beings. :)

Alright, you can say you have curves if you want but people around here might look at you weird. Curves in reference to women are like hips et al, not stomach.

I have to admit that I do like a guy with nicely defined muscles.. not over worked over pumped or anything, just nice and defined.

I like a guy with a bit of meat on him if it's not excessive...and tallness is good

Curvy is always my preference. A woman doesn't usually even start catching my eye until she crosses 140. It's all about proportions, though. I've seen some thin girls that interested me. And I've seen some tall girls that were way over 250 that looked good.

Me! :) Actually, it's more accurate to say that I'm attracted to a guy with little fat and not much muscle. My boyfriend fits that description almost perfectly. He's pretty thin, with no fat, and no big bulging muscles. That last part is a really good thing, since guys with huge muscles like bodybuilders really put me off.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, most of the guys I've dated fit that description to some extent. They've all been on the thin side, with little to no fat and not much muscle. Not scrawny, just... no big bulging muscles all over the place. *nods to this*

It's all relative, as long as you're excersizing and eating the natural three food groups (meat, fruits, and vegetables.) your apperance doesn't mean shit to neither social status nor health concerns. There are many fat people, even obease (300+lb) people way healthier then skinny people. It's all a matter of what you put into your body and how you work with it.

Mindyou, I'd take a severely overweight girl over a skinny one anyday. For a couple of reasons.

#1: The overweight girl is likely to be less bitchy. Sense fat is seen as bad, she'd be less judging and more open around me. And that's a plus.

#2: The overweight girl I won't feel like i'm going to break just by touching her. And I want to be able to get rough with my woman.

#3: The overweight girl would probably be less concerned with health, thereby not being one of these liberal douchebags who wants to put smokers in death camps and fat-kids through a whiplashing..

I applaud fat people, cause today's society is so worked up over thier appereance in health, they've completely forgotten why they try to be healthy. To prolounge life and live it with more energy and comfort, what's the point if you're all tense from liberalism and working all day?!

Besides, skinny people tend to want to stay skinny, so they do stupid shit like ride bikes and go moutain climbing or whatever.. You know, once in awhile that'd be okay, but God-damnit, I work enough as it is. You know what I want in a date? A simple movie, and my girlfriend in my arms, cuddeling eachother to sleep while we fillup on popcorn. Regardless of the transfat intake.. (Which suprisingly there's alot. Atleast for me as I do take care of my health and rarely eat anything that wasn't alive or that didn't comeout of the ground..)

That's why I weigh 175lbs and people think I'm skinny. (I'm only 5"5..) cause I'm muscular. I'm not going to say i'm a fucking pro-wrestler here. But I deffinitely got my health about me and people mistake me for a sixteen year old. I probably have the body of one. So remember that ladies, you can have all the fun of an underage guy, with none of the guilt.;)

Diet and excercise aren't everything. I know a few people who are larger than me who excercise more than I do, and people who are much thinner than me who don't excercise at all. It seems that, at least in this country especially among the youth, the big contributing factor to obesity isn’t exercise, it’s terrible diet.

Okay, it's about diet too. So how come I'm bigger than some people who like junk food and smaller than some people who like veggies? Evidently, diet and excercise are important, but they're not always the deciding factor in a person's weight.

I don’t need to justify being shallow because there is nothing wrong with it. We're all shallow, I just don't hide it. We’re animals, human beings.
I don’t see how you could claim that being shallow is “disgusting” without some sort of ridiculous spiritual nonsense. All that exists is the material. All we can do in life is improve our own lot.
Maybe I should give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume you like to think of yourself as superior?

No. Why would I? A paraplegic is doing his best to correct his problem with the wheelchair, same with the near and/or far sighted.
A fat person should do the same, but instead, you tell someone they have a thyroid problem and all of a sudden they think, “Well, I can’t do anything about it, might as well just sit on my ass all day.”

I’d like to see compulsive eaters get the same treatment by society as anorexics get.

Like I said, not everybody who is overweight spends the day sitting around eating bonbons. Many of them excercise extensively and eat very few calories. Why should they have to do ten times the work that other people do just to gain acceptance.
As for your last point, I agree. Compulsive eaters should be viewed as people who are as sick as people who are anoxeric. Would you tell an anorexic that she was ugly and stupid for not eating properly? If you say yes, you evidently don't have a very clear idea of pyschology.

It can depend - different body types cause a different type of lust. I tend to like guys to be skinnier, but skinny guys tend to have no ass - at all, and I also like men with an ass. Weightlifters can be fine - not to the point of bodybuilder competition, but some muscle mass is nice.

Personal opinion of myself...I'd class myself as a little overweight if my underwear created bulges. Like love handles or that little flappy bit on your back by your armpit...you know what I mean?

I was ill recently for a few months and lost weight without meaning too, and now I'm really happy with my shape.

I don't understand the sizes you guys are using...what does 180 equate too for example? I can do kilograms or stone...I'm 54.4kg roughly. It fluctuates.

I agree with most of the girlies in here...Tall with defined shape, broad shoulders, strong arms but nothing freakish. My ex was 6'3 and had the most awesome figure, I love that area around the hips, lower abdomen and hips on a guy, phwoar.

I tend to prefer somewhere between really skinny and healthy slim, probably because that is around where I am. Naturally bony and underweight (20th percentile for my age in weight, 70th percentile in height)

Of course, my standard for attractiveness is the Phantom of the Opera from the original novel by Gaston Leroux; I don't often pay attention to real people, and it would be unhealthy for anyone to be as skinny as he is. He's tall and skeletally thin.

But not all people with a thyroid problem resign themselves to it. They try so hard, but nearly nothing comes of it.

Maybe I should give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume you like to think of yourself as superior?

Sure it can, and just like anybody else with a medical condition, they should work to overcome it, and not do what most in their position choose to do and sit around eating, content in their excuse.
Seriously, if you aren’t going to enjoy life, why not just kill yourself?
Where to begin?

Everyone is shallow to some extent, but it seems they aren't generally as shallow as you. As long as a person has one attractive quality - hair, eyes, build, whatever -and a good personality, it isnt necessary for me that the person be at least 6' or within a certain weight range. Some people shouldn't go around wearing bakinis, fine I'll agree with that. Doesn't make them ugly or lesser people.

Believe it or not, some people enjoy life without being obsessed with excersize, nutrition, and clothing sizes. Frankly, I don't want to live till 80 if it means I can't eat another cheesesteak or burger or dark chocolate.

I worry about my health, and try to make sure I take in necessary vitamins and minerals. But I'm not going to start making myself miserable to try and fit a certain dress size. And if someone like you is going to judge me for that, I don't give a damn, cuz your opinion is worth less to me than a bowl of brussel sprouts.

Honestly, no, chronological age isn't more important than anything else. The most important thing, i think, is that each person in the couple is at relatively the same stage of life (both in highschool, or both in college, or both making a living, or both retired/nearing retirement). Also, both people should have relatively similar maturity levels.
