Croatia were 3rd in '98 with class players like Davu Suka and Sunovavitch!
But Australia couldn't(Or at least i couldn't) live down a loss to Croatia cause you have a rowdy Croat community.

Croatia were hard done by.

Very true, I think they deserved a win, the scoreboard didn't show how the game went. Then again, the scoreboard is what counts, so...

Yes we have. A girl I work with is from Croatia & she doesn't know who to barrack for in that match, particularly as the Aussies & the Croats may well be battling it out for second place in the group.

I watch the news.
It would be like Samoa beating the All Blacks at Rugby.:p

Croats and Serbs were going at it with sticks and stones last year over a local footy match.

I think i heard there were a few Australians playing for either Croatia or Greece is this true?

Who're all retired now.

They're a strong team (they've shown it against Brazil), but Australia's in with a shot. Especially since something like eight of the Croat players are still recovering from some virus they all got at their training camp.

Two of their veteran players are retired AND the team is just coming out of a sickness? Australia just might beat those guys! :p

True, there are a few players who could have played for Aus, but chose another country. Off the top of my head, I can't think who they are. Viduka went the other way. He could have played for (correct me if I'm wrong) Croatia, but chose Aus instead.

They reckon he is good enough.

In the small amount of soccer I've actually watched, Viduka hasn't actually done that much. He's a very big strong man and he draws the defence away from everyone really well, but I havn't seen that much talent displayed by him... well, no more than all the rest of the Aussies, and less than some.

OOH! Brazil Australia TONIGHT!! Should be fun!

Indeed.
One of the Brazilian Midfielders Gabrielle Silva??? reckon they need to do al ot of passing similiar to Argentinas performance or they'll be stuck in another game like the Croatian one.

The Argentinian passing was incredible.

Indeed, they had the ball on a string and the Serbs started going in hard on the tackles.
Crespo should have had a double.

Viduka is not a glamorous player, ie. Ronaldhino,C.Ronaldo, but if you watch him when he gets the ball, he very rarely gives it away, has a good first touch, as you said he draws the defence and he strong enough to hold them off.

I think he is very much a confidence player, and he has not done anything great for a while. He's missed a few penalties, I don't think he's scored in any of the warm up matches before the cup and he's definately had some chances.

If that is true about him and Croatia... the guy is a champ, as he brings so much to the Aussies.
and I reckon that if he can score against the brazilians Aus will win.

I'll be happy if we score at all against Brazil. A win would just be... GAH. I almost shudder to think of the amount of nauseating patriotism that'll surround the country if we win. But then, the sheer fact that WE WILL HAVE WON makes it all better.

If you win the world will turn upside down, for all those drunkards claiming OZ was #1 after the win against Japan.
It beggers disbelief.

Well...the dream is over. Aussies aren't beating the Brazilians this year: 2 - 0 for the South Americans... We'll probably still move on to the next round, though. Still...beating BRAZIL? That would've been awesome... :(
