I'd wish for the entire city of Detroit to get demolished by a monster fom a Japanese monster movie, but that would just improve that stinking cesspool of a city.
I love it. Everytime a Detroit team does well people start harping about how much the city of Detroit sucks.

When So Taguchi actually hits a home run, you know that something is terribly wrong.
That was pathetic. At least I have Oliver Perez to look foward to. sigh...
Beltran and Wright just hit homeruns for the Mets. :D
Delgado homers. 5-2 Mets. Nice if their pitchers could make sure they keep this lead.
Losing to the Cardinals would be so pathetic.

We have a real good chance after today. Our offense looks good, and Jeff Weaver on three days rest does not impress me. Delgado is MVP of the playoffs, besides [insert Detroit starting pitcher here].

Losing those two games has only made things difficult. Even if the Mets win their next two games, the Tigers will be fully rested for the WS, they won't be.

The only way the Mets are winning the world series is if they get sooo offensively hot that they can carry an average of like 6 runs throughout the series. And Detroit gets overconfident and/or rusty.
The possible rainout will make the WS even more difficult, but it would help for Glavine's rest in the NLCS.

Starting later, losing that off-day, and having the Tigers sweep means that whichever NL team makes the WS will have a much weaker bullpen than Detroit's just based on fatigue. Plus with Bonderman, Verlander and Rogers, Detroit hardly uses their bullpen.
I think we're looking at a really one-sided series. Especially if the Cards go.

Lets go METS tonight!
Lets go Tommy-boy!
Fox has been irritating me throughout the postseason, so I'm hoping for a Detroit-St. Louis series just to kill their ratings.
A one-sided sweep would be even better.

The Mets have been getting surprisingly low ratings, actually. Never have made a 20 in New York this post season yet.

Glavine is really struggling. I can't believe he is letting the Cards work him this way. :(

Not really impressive for Tommy-boy.

Not impressive at all.:(
The Mets grew dependent on the long ball it seems. They can't string together singles at all. Bad form all around. Can only hope they remember how they won in the regular season for the next couple of games. Balanced hitting is essential. Singles are good. They might easily be blown out at Shea by the Cards though.:(

They seem to be hoping that Beltran will carry th entire team on his back. Does he have to homer every at bat? The Mets supposively have excellent pitching but it seems to have left them lately. Letting the Cards get the hits they do is unacceptable. I never would have thought St. Louis had a chance. But here we are...

Considering their regular season record this year that is hard to believe.

Well, Beltran and Delgado. The Mets never had great pitching. They had a good bullpen, but never great pitching. And there is way to much pressure on the bullpen this year.

True enough, but the starting rotation HAS to step up and not lean on the bullpen. At this rate, even if the Mets come back and win the next two games, the pen will be so exhausted that the Tigers who eat them up.
No pun intended...

What starting rotation? They're missing their top 2 pitchers.

Psh... Who needs Pedro Martinez when you have John Maine!
And El Duque? He can easily be replaced be either Oliver "Almost Good Enough for the Pirates" Perez or Darren "Hasn't Made a Start Since 2004" Oliver.
But seriously, Maine looked good, and the Mets didn't depend on the Carlos' today. It was a good win. *crosses fingers for tomorrow*
Who's pitching for the Mets, today? Is Willie sending out a new bullpen pitcher every 2 innings?

Oliver Perez. Pretty bad, but they don't have much choice.
Clearly, it is going to depend on the Mets offense. Unless Perez pulls off a miracle the Cardinal hitters are going to be hot.

And he's on three days rest. Very exciting.

I probably would have gone with Oliver. Sure, he hasn't started in years, but he threw 6 great innings the other day.
Mets have only one more out left to do something...

No. Mother fucking no.
Mets lose. St. Louis Cardinals to face Detroit Tigers in World Series.
Shit. My prediction has gone into the crapper. :(
How could the Mets lose? They let a team that had barely a .500 record beat them!

Not to worry. The Tigers will crush them as readily as they did Oakland!

Yes, I don't see how the Cardinals can get by. The Tigers are more healthy then the Mets were so they should beat them easy.

I don't think so. Everyone expects it. But usually high expectations will not follow through, and they will choke.

If we did, it'd be flooded with "DA BEARS", I am sure.

Dude. Do you actually watch baseball? You can't actually believe that a club with one day of rest between their LCS and the world series (with a sheer luck 9th inning win in game 7 BTW) playing against another club with one of the hottest pitching staffs, on more than a week of rest, couls stan even a snowball's chance in hell.
Go Tigers!

You mean like how the White Sox choked last year? Or the Red Sox the year before that?
Bad prediction.
The Tigers have killed finesse pitchers all year. But after Carpenter, that's all the Cards have.

Congratulations to the Cardinals and condolences to the Tiger fans. It wasn't the best World Series, by a long shot, but it was a lot more fun to watch than the '99 Series between the Yanks and Braves.

The Tigers seemed not to even try. We should thank Detroit in part for the Cardinals victory.

It seems almost any team in baseball could have beaten the Tigers. Their errors were so pathetic. Since when can't pitchers throw to freaking third base.
the mets were so close...
