Oh, I'm aware of that... I'm replying to the (probable troll) barry-something... who seems to be arguing Islam is inherently evil, and that the sun shines out of the collective Christian arse.

The fact that things are seldom black and white (well, except nuns, zebras and penguins), is kind of the point of the original post, I think... and that's what I was gesturing towards.
Kewl. I'm down w'dat! :D

LMAO! The same thing occured to me! I live right here in the heart of "Bible Country," and am surrounded by Southern Baptists! Haaaaallllp!

Maybe we should form an organisation dedicated to promoting the wearing of these T-shirts.

Then, we could form a support group dedicated to paying the medical expenses AFTER we wore them... :D

That's true, but that's usually played off as being too far in the past and thus insignificant. This is a more current example.

Oh, and also, the inquisition and witchtrials weren't very nice at all either.

Too far in the past my ass. Christians have done deeds far worse than muslims.

So, that's at least three NS Generalites who need that T-shirt... yes, at least three: Grave_n_idle, Eutrusca, and the person writing this post. :p

I tend to think that all religions are equal in atrocities.

Which is a shame. How the Mighty are fallen. :(

And the thing that bugs me is that they always use God to justify it.

The Koran does not advocate the mistreatment of women, people misinterpreting the Koran and imposing their cultural standards that existed before the introduction of islam do.
I agree.

GTA is also not affiliated to fundamentalist Christian literature, and doesn't claim to be 'god's will'...
I don't think that the kids playing either game will care about affiliations. Only about the behaviour depicted in the games. To them, this will be as much of an encouragement of religious terrorism as GTA is an encouragement to rape and murder.

Too far in the past my ass. Christians have done deeds far worse than muslims.
History matters. Most people are influenced more by culture than by religion, no matter what they say. Today's European Christians are a far cry from medieval European Christians, so no I don't think that you can compare us.

Do you seriously think that Christians harbour collective blame for what Christians that lived many generations ago did?

It seems that some christian video game creators like the idea of forcing conversions on gays, buddhists, catholics, people who advocate the separation of church and state et c or death for the aforementioned groups.

While this isn't as bad as say, flying planes into buildings full of people, it's encouraging children to force their beliefs on others in a militant fashion and really, these sorts of people are generally the ones up in arms about the violence in video games anyways. So what, violence is only alright in service of the lord?

Hypocrites.

The difference being, the Church itself would not condone such action, especially if it were portrayed in a violent or militant fashion... these are isolated actions of individuals.. not the faith on a whole... as opposed to much boarder action taken by terrorists and/or terrorist states... where by violence is condoned or even encouraged by (some) religious leaders, and governmental officals. This comparison is laughable at best, insulting at worst.

And the thing that bugs me is that they always use God to justify it.

There's a famous quote about it somewhere... about it requiring religion to justify good people doing bad things...

I don't find it the whole truth - good people can do bad things for politics, but... they might not get the same feeling of divine sanction, I guess...

I think a better way to phrase it would be: "good people use religion to justify doing evil"...

Now that's a good way to put it.

I wonder what Rick's take on it is. It just says they were "linked to him" whatever that means. The article doesn't seem to mention the name of the game though. I can't BELIEVE these guys( and Tim LaHaye... )Man they're just out to make money.

Radicalism in all religions seems to be on the rise. :(

The hell they are!

That crap might sell copies to some people, but I've actually read a couple.

Not only are they badly written (and, I mean worse than Stephen King, or Thomas Harris), but they espouse an agenda that would leave a lot of people with a very bad taste in their mouth.
Yeah, but that Left Behind miniseries was hilarious. :D

There was the establishing shot of the Jerusalem cityscape with the little explosion in the corner of the screen. JERUSALEM *poof!*

Then there was this visual device they used -- whenever there was evil afoot, there would be little black kittens jumping around in an alley or something.

And finally there were these virgin sacrifice squads. I loved these guys. They were all dressed up like the villain's goons from a MacGyver episode, with ski masks on, and they all ran around in a bunch with some kind of, you know, fictional Marines thing going on, like "hut-hut-hut-hut-hut" under their breath. They just grabbed the virgins and sacrificed them to Satan every chance they got. There was one scene where they burst into a convent -- "hut-hut-hut-hut-hut" -- grabbed the special virgin who was already conveniently strapped to a gurney for no apparent reason and wheeled her out of the convent -- "hut-hut-hut-hut-hut" -- and sacrificed her right there on the lawn before the nun in charge of her could even look up from her cheese sandwich or whatever it was.

I laughed and laughed. And then I changed the channel.

LOL! But by attacking us, wouldn't they just be proving that we were right??? Hmmm. I need to think this through. :)

Wow thats a strong opinion. If there was no Jesus or Christianity the whole Europe would have been taken over by Muslims since there would be no Knights Templar.

I would say "Bad Religious People use Religion to shift the blame."

In truth we say we have to smack kids when necessary.
That socialist way of protecting kids from being smack is heresy.
We encourage bloody games for our nice blond heads, they then can learn violence in case the ennemy at our doors knocks to loud.

Ibidem for that christian way of denying oriental martial arts is ridiculous, we make (in The Holy See of Jesuites) compulsory the training in AiKi Do and other Kung Fu or Karate Do.

Our Nation is ready for fights and other religions won't come to invade our temples.

Most of the religionists here see prosperity as "the blessings of Gawd!"
