I am heterosexual, and I am glad of that. Not because I have a problem with homosexuals, it just seems like it must be a lot harder for them. I mean, if you're homosexual, people hate you just for who you're attracted to/date/marry, and there are also a lot less people to choose from when it comes to finding someone to have romance with. Or so it would seem. And it would suck to have to deal with all that.

Because some silly people don't know the difference.

And if you want to know who is who, why isn't the poll public?
I remember one time somebody made a public poll asking, and people said that some might be put off by it being public.

Then somebody else made a private one, and people said they wanted to know who was saying what.

So its a lose-lose situation, really.

Same here. It's become an oddly popular trend for 14-16 year old girls to think they're "bi" because they kissed one girl while drunk at a party, although they would never consider having a relationship with a girl, and have only been minimally attracted to one.

Psh. Kids can't even do bisexuality right nowadays (says I at the worldly age of 18). Bi girl here. Actually, I've never really thought of myself as bi. I just don't have a preference.

This is obviously a complicated issue.
I'm heterosexual.
My housemate in the room above me is gay.
I have a good laugh with him about all the issues that arise in day to day week to week life.
e.g. at a theme park all the straight guys have to pretend that not only are they not scared by the f##king massive rollercoaster, and the associated feelings of internal organs trying to climb out of their throat, they actually have to pretend they all want to ride it many times, but he gets away with saying "Oh no, not for me thanks!". etc etc.
The big laugh we had when I was complaining about how the first time a guy locks eyes with his new girlfriend's dad and you have that exchange of meaning... "I know what you want from my daughter"... "He knows what i've been doing to his daughter" etc and he simply pointed out how much worse this same situation was for him when he met HIS, BOYfriend's dad...

Still doesn't stop me feeling a bit queasy when I hear two sets of manly grunts coming through from upstairs...

as southpark puts it: "tolerating" and "liking" are very different.

I know a number of gay men who consider bisexuals as "fence sitters" or even "greedy"! trying to play the best of both worlds. In my limited experience of knowing people who have professed to be bisexual, they have generally settled on, or shown a marked preference for either homosexual or heterosexual relationships. TRULY impartial bisexuals are probably very rare indeed, or very quiet among the groups of people I associate with.

your gay.....gay.
At least gay people know grammar better than you ;)

Since it seems you don't realize your mistake, I shall try to explain it to you. You should have used the contraction you're (you are) rather than the posessive your. If you say "your gay," you are not making sense.

There are two things wrong with saying "your gay." First of all, "gay" is not an object that can be owned -- therefore you don't use "your," which implies ownership of something. That's why Keruvalia responded "my gay what?"

Secondly, you are leaving out an important piece of information. Even if you meant to say something about the person's gay, you didn't. It's like saying "your book." What about my book? However, if you say "you're gay," that's the same thing as saying "you are gay," which I assume is what you meant.

You could, however, be using gay as an adjective, as in "my gay hamster," which is grammatically correct as long as you say something about your gay hamster.

Sorry if I've offended anyone anywhere in this post -- I know it can be a rather touchy subject, and I certainly am not out to offend. I'm just out to give a grammar lesson to the less grammar-minded persons in our world.

Remember, kids, grammar is important.

Excuse my language but...

Sadly...I seen many men treat women like they treat meat. Meant to be pounded hard and fast and then be done with it in a minute or two. HOWEVER it exists for all men and women to. Its called Lust.

Lust is just pure sexual desire. Love is not all sex, but can be shown through it in many many passionate ways including sex. Guys tend to have deeper meanings and thoughts of love, I think if they are gay or bi it makes them think more.

When someone will hurt and be in pain for the others enjoyment, that is really a bond. Whole master and slave thing. Love can be painful and pain can be love. Everything has an order.

Irrelevant. That has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

Lust is just pure sexual desire. Love is not all sex, but can be shown through it in many many passionate ways including sex. Guys tend to have deeper meanings and thoughts of love, I think if they are gay or bi it makes them think more.

Bullshit. Gay and bi men are at least as stupid as straight men. That does not apply to "bi," i.e. those theoretical "bisexuals" who spout off about how they "love more than gender" or how they can "pick and choose whom they like," who tend to be dumber in the ignorant sense, I'll grant that. The true bisexuals have quite the issue with being associated with such people, unfortunately.

When someone will hurt and be in pain for the others enjoyment, that is really a bond. Whole master and slave thing. Love can be painful and pain can be love. Everything has an order.

While you're happily sniping at people's PUNCTUATION (As that appeared to be what your post dealt with, rather than GRAMMAR) perhaps you'd like to look up "PEDANTRY" in the OED. And then perhaps choose to ... off and bother someone whose sentence structure actually interferes with comprehension of the point they are trying to make, instead of maximising every posible opportunity to be smugly superior.

(Three periods in succession indicates an omission by the way. I know how you love punctuation).

Why did you omit "fuck"?

Though we all have our preferences. Bi-sexuals are intriguing and come with gaydar and stealth. Unless they are flaming or feminine. I do doubt you are. No proper bisexual I know spouts such crap as "loving more than gender" or "picking whom to like." I’ve been openly heterosexual since I was a teenager. Most of the discrimination I’ve received for this was in failing to settle down and get married like the other kids. It’s been tough but I’ve survived this discrimination and will not be forced to live behind a picket fence or drive a station wagon. I can acknowledge if another guy is good looking, but in terms of them being a rival for attractive females, instead of as a perspective mate themselves. I’ve just never been attracted to guys. I’m just not wired that way and plus I really hate musicals. I’m secure enough in my heterosexuality to not really care if there are people around me that aren’t that way.

I think that homosexuality and heterosexuality are tendencies that are mostly biology, modified by environment. Probably more people are bisexual than they think, especially when put into situations where there’s the opportunity (see college and prison). It’s like how some people have tendencies for drug addiction or liking certain types of food.

I think that most of the people who have the most terror and hostility towards their opposite sexual number are the ones with the most ambiguities (or they’re just stupid and poorly raised, it’s hard to tell). I’ve had friends who were gay and they’re just people like everybody else. As long as they realize that I have zero interest in them it’s fine. With women, I’ve known women who were lesbians and in a way it made things easier for me to relate to them as a guy, since you knew that there was never going to be anything other than friendship, so you never allowed that to enter into your mind.

So a straight man or woman and a gay man or women cannot be intriguing and do not have the ability to tell when people are gay? Also, we can't be mysterious and women are less attracted to us straight guys then you "bisecuals". I believe that it's taken as a given that we're proud of it and content with the way we are treated by society as we form the majority of it, and therefore need no further representation. A "straight pride" march would be something akin to an "I breathe air and I LOVE it!" march.

However, being young, white, heterosexual, male and English in the first time for 200 years when this has been anything at all other than an enormous advantage, has left me with... opinions... on "positive descrimination".

4 years ago I came to terms with the fact that I am bi-sexual. It's a confusing process, you have to think back and you pick up information that will help you assert your orientation. & just because I can, I'll note it not being a choice. Transsexuality is not a sexual orientation, nor is it a choice.

Wait a second......... is trans-sexual being born with both genitalia? Am I thinking of.... trans-gendered? I'm lost now.

I know transvestites are in most cases straight people who like to dress like the oposite sex. ... But what, them, is trans-sexual? Whatever it is I was thinking of, was people who get a sex change operation (which is a choice).

Transgendered is a woman born into a man's body or vice versa. Transexual is a transgendered person who has surgical corrections. Hermaphrodite has both sets of genitalia. Transvestite is a person who dresses as the opposite sex, who may or may not be straight.

If I got any of that wrong, please feel free to make corrections, folks.

Bi in general is better! You can pick who you like at will. Also...you don't have to be feminine or anything, you can be yourself and not seem odd!

I'm actually a pretty girly bi. It helps that I'm 5'2 and like 110 lbs - no one would take me as a dyke seriously :p it's funny, 'cause I like my guys tall and pretty manly, but I like my girls curvy and girly. long hair = yummy.

Although I have to admit, most of my gay friends think I'm full of crap being bi. They're all convinced that I'm a lesbian.

Simply put, bi peole have an advantage over straights and gays when looking for fun or lovers or happiness. :P

Since about 50% of the world (we know its higher then this) is boys and girls I'll say its equal. Since Gay/Lesbian is only 10% of the population tack on them to. Also don't forget your fellow bisexuals! Which according to this threads poll is very very very high. More bi then gays!

Asbena kisses all the bisexuals. ;)

A person can be trans and gay, or trans and bi, trans and asexual, trans and straight, or trans and something else entirely. I don't think trans is appropriately linked with sexual orientations, since transgenderism has to do with gender identity/expression rather than sexuality.

Refer to transgendered people as whatever we want to be referred to as.
Asbena

I thought gender was sex. >.>
Though like on medical forms, how would you display it?
Nadkor
23-03-2006, 21:50
Gender is psychological, sex is physical. Usually they're the same (male gender and male sex, or female gender and female sex), but sometimes they're different (like female gender and male sex, or male gender and female sex)

As for medical forms...whatever the transgendered person wants to. Depends on what point in transition they're in etc. and what the laws are in the country in question.

Like in the UK, a transgendered person in transition can change their legal sex (and be issued with a 'new' birth certificate), so they would put their "new" sex.

But in other counties a transgendered person can't change their legal sex, so they'll either have to put their birth sex, or they might be able to put their "new" sex.

You know thier is a reason why their is descrimination and hatred for certain people, it's because they always try to act like their special which just inflames peoples' attitude against you. In short just shut up NO one cares that your (insert sexuality), no one cares that your (insert race here)! In short stfu about "oh i'm gay! wow gay pride!"

GAYS:mp5:

You sir, are an idiot. There are people out there who care, and not in a good way. I face homophobia still now days. In fact, just the other day, I was called a faggot, and I wasn't even with a guy, i was just hanging with some friends. The guy who called me a faggot had heard from someone else I liked guys, so decided to take time out of his schedule to come and harrass me about it...

Don't tell me no one cares that i'm Gay

Your little

GAYS:mp5:

IS homophobia, and until I am not discriminated against on the grounds of my sexuality, I will not "stfu about "oh i'm gay! wow gay pride!"

I have to be proud of my sexuality, the only other option is to hate myself for it, and I'm not going to do that to make you more comfortable!
Geektoria
23-03-2006, 22:32
Ok, so from my post above, you can pick up I'm gay

Here's the thing though, someone's sexuality is personal. Just like I wouldn't expect someone to tell me I'm ACTUALLY straight, no one here is qualified to tell someone they aren't bisexual because they make a statement that doesn't fit with your understanding of how "real" bisexuals act. Maybe for them gender really doesn't factor in at all when it comes to who they are attracted to.

Who are you to say it doesn't, just because the "real" bisexuals you know don't talk like that?

Oh, and by the way, Sexuality goes beyond just who you're attracted to, it also has to do with your own sexuality, IE, your gender. So to say that transexuality is not sexuality is ludicrous. There's a term I love, reclaimed from the times past when it was used to spread hate, QUEER

It's an umbrella term reclaimed by the Queer Community so that people don't have to put themselves into a label that society has deemed appropriate for them. It includes a veritable alphabet soup of the labels handed out by society, includeing Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Transexual, Intersex... the list goes on

I've read a lot of things on here from different people that all sound the same. Like you're experts on sexuality, like you know what a "real" bisexual is. Talk about judgement.

The funny thing is a lot of this is coming from people who think they are ok with sexuality, and yet they are still perpetuating the same crimes as the more obvious homophobes out there. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say you're bad people, I'm just saying open your mind a bit. Just because a label generally applies to a certain type of person doesn't mean that it can't apply to someone else, if that's how they identify.

So please don't try to label people according to your standards, it's not fair, and quite frankly, a bit ignorant.

Now, group-hug all round :)

Holy mistranslation, Batman!
It's actually "A man shall not lie on a woman's bed, for it is an abomination." A woman's bed, for those ignorant of ancient Hebrew culture, was the place a woman slept while she was menstruating, as menstruating women were seen as unclean.

Back on topic, I'm heterosexual. However, there's a part of my brain that seems absolutely convinced that I'm supposed to be bisexual, which causes it to become extremely confused when I repeatedly fail to have any sexual attraction whatsoever towards males.
