Actually, the board seems to edit those... or maybe it's just less noticeable after it's been posted than it is in the textbox.

Unfortunately, unlike the good doctor, we aren't. So we don't know what drugs to administer, nor in what amounts.

Consequently, there may be some pain involved, but generally the patient doesn't live to complain about it, if there is.

That kinda sounds like a "CAn't-DO" attitude there.

Well, it's good to consider the condition of the corpse as it decays, since quite a few of them are exhumed and reanimated later, sometimes for less-than-honourable reasons.
Besides, constant attention to this forum is a sign of masochism, anyway ... so bring on the pain, y'all!

Not everyone in the military is a grunt. Most of the military is comprised of POGUES (people other than grunts)

The next time an American soldier who is not a Guardsman/woman or a member of the Coast Guard has to save my ass, I'll tell you.

The next time an American soldier steps into line to defend my freedoms, I'll be right alongside them blazing away at those evil invading Canadians/Mexicans.

The people who protect me wear blue and carry badges. The people who will save me drive ambulances and firetrucks. They are not in the military.

And, since you're talking about things you're sick about, I'll point out one that I'm sick of: The idea that the Marines, Army, or Navy are somehow fighting for freedom. They aren't. They have never fought for those things. They fight and die for the foreign policy of whichever president is in office.

If you want to protect people, join the police. If you want to save people, become an EMT, study medecine, join the Coast Guard or the National Guard, or become a firefighter.

Alright why don't you call 911 and report two planes crashing into buildings and see how far the police go to catch those responsible...oh yeah they have no jurisdiction outside their country of origin. You may not see it but the people in the military do protect your sorry butt. They do that irrespective of whether or not you are glad they are doing that. Yes they do follow whatever lame national policy that the president selects. But YOU the voter elect the president! So if your problem is with national policy vote intelligently instead of being a freaking idiot.

Now there's the angry left attitude that I expect to see more, and more of every day. This isn't as vivid as outright spitting and slander, but dismissals, such as this go a long way to present the left-leaning bias against our troops.

It seems for some people, there are only two acceptable ways to act about our troops. Worshiping them as the heroic freedom fighters who can do no wrong and deserve more respect than your momma, or spitting on them as the evil babykillers who deserve hanging.

So it's 1. Lick their genitals. Or 2. Spit on their face.

Since I don't fall into either category, the lickers and the spitters alike distrust and suspect I'm one of "them" (the enemy).

It's tough, but at the end of the day at least I get the satisfaction of knowing I can have an opinion about people that doesn't involve bodily fluid exchange.

It isn't a general thing, so if you want generalizations then why don't you agree with the generalizations about the right-wing f*ckheads?

EDIT: You know, i just reread the post you replied to.

If you must press the issue, it's not "how things work", the book's called The Way Things Work, by David Macaulay.
Published in 1988.
And yes, i possess it. It still has that 1988 aroma. Hell, you've even ignored it one of the times i showed you my "impressive" book collections!

It has many pictures in it, many of which i can draw, some even with an Etch-a-Sketch.
It also has a lot of words in it, some big, some small, and i can pronounce almost all of them! And i recognize when the words correlate to the pictures!
What else am i supposed to get out of it?

Is that like, Australia - 15 billion flies can't be wrong?
Besides, as i see it, apparently around half the voting/vocal populace of the United States can be wrong about the same couple of things simultaneously.

I don't see why it's such a big deal in America. Personally I'd only support troops that shoot their officers.

Before the inevitable flamefest, I'd like to explain. The wonderful act that is "supporting our troops" is a double standard. The U.S. administration, and those who support it, expect everyone to support the U.S. military and the things it is doing on behalf of the political leadership in Washington. Anything less they see as not supporting the troops and wanting them all to die.

Well, as Teh_pantless_hero tried in earnest to point out to me, anything/everything said in view of the OP'r will be manipulated, misinterpreted and misrepresented to the bias of the OP'r. I could say some inane comment like, "Corneliu and I are really puppets of each other", and they'd say, "That compromises the integrity of anything you've posted as left-wing commie pinko U.S.-hating libruhl trashmongering."
Or something to that effect.
Good thing other people don't necessarily see it that way.
It's better, though, to be as lucid as possible, i guess.

I think the ideal is now that you no longer blame the troops for the policies of the administration. If you feel the need to spit on someone over the war in Iraq then don't spit on a soldier...spit on Condoleeza Rice
