Not to quibble unduly, but I feel that a number of the contributors to this thread have rather missed the point of this thread.

Agreed. Some people think that shooting a murderer won't stop violence. Pffft.

Some people don't seem to understand that murdering someone is violence...even if the victim is a murderer. How someone could fail to realise that this of course does not STOP violence, but pepetuates it instead, is beyond me.

Becuase if the choice is between killing a murderer or letting him murder you and go on to murder however many more people he/she wants to before the cops catch him/her (if they catch him/her).

This is a case of committing a little evil to cause a greater good.
Little evil=murdering the murderer.
Greater good=no more murderer!

So if you shoot a murderer he's only going to get mad and kill you, but if you call 911,roll over, and play possum he'll leave you alone?

Which home is more appealing to a murderer/rapist-one with a "This is a gun-free home" sign or one with a target with 30 holes in the X-ring? Which one will he most likely survive an encounter with?
