Then you are not a true gaming geek :) most of the stuff CAN be done with a mac but at absorbetent pricing for hardware moding for some

Though I did find a version of freebsd that worked on mac hardware ... :-D

Freebsd? What's that? *shows ignorance*

Games I have on this computer...

C&C Generals: Zero Hour
Halo
Rise of Nations
UT 2004
Knights of the Old Republic
Soldier of Fortune II
Homeworld 2
Call of Duty: United Offensive
Medal of Honor

And my current fav game: Doom 3

It'll do.

This is one of the most misguided threads I've ever read. I'm sick of OS biggots.
I have one computer with XP and one with Redhat 8, they are both awesome OSes at certain things. No matter how hard you argue, Windows will ALWAYS be more compatible, and better at video and gaming and ease of use than a Linux box (no matter the disto). AND Linux is cheaper, more solid, and better for server-based application.

Anyway, as far as Macs go, on the hardware side of things they are less compatible and more expensive. This is because Apple builds ALL hardware. They are actually, and here's where it gets exciting, SLOWER than PC's. A G-5 has three CPU cores, a PC with a three core AMD FX 64 blows an Apple away in every application but photoshop (which was specifically designed for macs). And PC hardware is cheaper because there is compitition for cheaper products (AMD, Intel, Cyrix, HP, IBM, etc.)

As far as software goes, they are no easier to use than XP (way more than Linux). Plus, there is much LESS software written for them. They are compatible with MUCH less than a PC.

Anyway, as far as hardware goes, PC's rule.

As far as OSes go, they all have their ups and downs: Windows for ease of use, compatibility, and gaming; Linux for programming, server application and stability; Mac OS X for graphics and video.

Thank you.

What's a Mic? It's a Dual 1.8 G5.

As for Tulochnikta, I don't agree that XP is easier to use. Also, pretty much all "PC Hardware" as you called it works with my Mac (assuming it's USB or FireWire, and hell, what isn't these days?) therefore price is not an argument. It'll cost me the same as you. I'm referring to extra hardware here-mice, keyboards etc. Obviously the actually CPU and motherboard is different.
