There's also a companion ceremony for women called a Bat Mitzvah, also traditionally held at 13 but occasionally at 12 instead.

That's really new, though. The first woman ever to become a bat mitzvah died very recently.

Women are born with the knowledge men must work for. Frankly, I'm surprised anyone would worry about the bat mitzvah.

Wait ... except the Westernization of the Jew ... I suppose that could have something to do with it.

Don't know if it was corrected already, but the correct name of the Star of David is the Shield of David. Don't quote me on this, but I believe it was a battle ornament.

Plus, let me say that a lot of Jews that I know, me being one, are really not Jewish by religion, but Jewish by label/culture. I don't know of any Jew that has true allegiance to Israel, in fact, I know some Jews who are against the idea of a Jewish state.

Herzl, founder of Zionism, came to the conclusion that because of the widespread, unfounded, rampant, hateful, and harmful racism against the Jewish race (it can be argued that there is no Jewish race,) that Jews needed a safe haven, free from persecution. Of course, that is a shattered dream considering Israeli Jews get a lot more trouble than American Jews or European Jews. Besides from the ignorance and the occasional hate crime, Jews in America are usually not singled out.

It can also be argued that there is a crisis happening in Judaism, because many Jews are intermarrying and the offspring losing ties to the religion and heritage. I believe that this comes from one of two things: many modern Jews are so integrated and unreligious that it doesn't matter, or that the constant corruption of the Christian churches, Catholic especially makes many Jews and non-Jews, despisers of organized religion. That is of course not to say that the Jewish Orthodoxy and Hierarchy is all clean, but on the most part, it doesn't matter as much because Jews don't evangelize and attempt to convert. As a general principle, that is more admirable than Christian churches. (*cough* Catholicism *cough*)

I consider most Jews to be open minded and liberal, although Jews as a group, if there even is a group, have diverse beliefs.

Why do Jewish people like bagels so much?
Because we somehow created them I do believe. They just kinda flourished when they hit NYC. But who is comlaining? Begales are fun! For instance you can even use them as a frisbe, *tosses at and watches bounce of forehead* Opps Sorry dude. Or could you roll them, or or try to shoot through the hole.

P.s. You could also eat them, but who does that?
