Now why would we be hating Green Day  You're right though, Blink182 too, 'but we're goff, look at our EYELINER!'

And Kurt Cobain is not god either

No idea. The fact they are crap, think they're oh so alternative and unique, everyone seems to think they're great and that he's hot (whaaat?!) when they are boring, dull, talentless, irritating and total wannabes... nope, doesnt annoy me in the slightest.

And Blink 182.... yeah, so heavy, so complicated, so unique and of course so hot... They have the most irritating voices, seriously.

Thank you! Kurt Cobain... so incredibly dull. Did you know he tried getting into loads of Doom bands but no-one would accept him because he was too crap? Yeah, guitar god all right... You can learn those riffs in a day or two. As can you with Blink and Green Day. They are not talented!!

Ok, rant over :p

KMFDM (Industrial band), Steve Vai (guitar virtuosso), Hendrix (classic rock/blues guitarist), Dream Theater (prog band), Santana (latin american rock), John Williams (classical guitarist), Coldplay (pop), Alice in Chains (rock/grunge), I think that about covers my eclecticness.

The few listed above ar in my list too.
Now for a sampling of mine; just looking at the CDs in front of me...

Passion of the Christ Soundtrack (mood music)
Patsy Cline (country singer)
Phantom of the Opera, Soundtrack - Original Broadway cast (opera wanna be)
The Beatles - White Album (um, it's the Beatles...)
Soundtrack to 8 Mile (Eminem and friends)
Lo Fidelity All Stars - How to Operate With a Blown Mind (speaker blowing pop thunder)
Peter Gabriel - Up (pop music, singing)
Us3 - Hand on the Torch (upbeat pop)
The Best of The Doors (Jim Morrison and his backup band)
The Benedictine Monks of St Michaels - Chant (monks doing monkish stuff)
Tibetan Buddhism - Tantras of Gyuto (monks doing really weird monkish stuff)
Hank Williams - Greatest Hits (bluegrass country)
Huun Huur Tu - Orphans Lament (Tuvan dudes singing 2 and 3 notes at once in an almost inhuman way - mondo recommended)
Portishead - Dummy (dark, synth pop music)
Mark Knopfler - Sailing to Philadelphia (guitarist, one of the best)

'Nuff said? *G*

Pretty impressive. Must say never listened to monks... I'm open to pretty much most things though. Where do you find new music? Through other people you know, internet... etc?

I've always hated when people think that listening to Greenday and Eminem shows an amazing variety of music. Looking at your list compared to mine I doubt I'd come across quite that badly, hopefully not anyway.

Hehe, I know the feeling. My friends are all fanatics of all three along with a number of other crappy bands :headbang:

Lol, exactly! I don't even play the guitar yet I can do the basic parts to them.

Yep, that sure does say a lot. Whats annoying is I am not allowed to hate GC. Long story but one of my friends told me about one of their songs, made me listen to it and now it means far too much to me. Damn him, stunting my hate for them :p

They spend so long telling me the exact faults with my music, then when I say 'I don't like listening to Green Day' they go all quiet and evil starey :(

However it also means you have a lot of people playing Nirvana all the time...

Yeah, back in ye olden days I listened to terrible music. Bad beyond your imagination. But at some point I listened to GC and one of their songs in particular when I was really upset. And now it's weird listening to it now. Doesn't mean I don't hate it :D

Hehe, few of my friends have ever heard what I listen to and therefore can't find faults with it. And I doubt they would be able to even if they had heard it. The only arguments people can come up with are 'it's a load of noise' and 'its all depressing'. Yeah, great arguments there. Show your indepth knowledge of music

Yep, BIG downfall. Another reason to hate Nirvana. I hate when people flock around anyone with a guitar going 'oo wow' when they're just playing a simple chord over and over. Grr.

Um, can you get any worse than stuff like *lowers voice* the Spice Girls? *cringes and shudders* All in the past... just go listen to some nice prog solos to calm me down after that traumatic revelation and the horrific memories it brings back...

Is that 'Hold On' by any chance? Have to say, that song came in useful at times... But I cannot hate them because the song linked to my friend made me so happy and changed a hell of a lot in my life and.... I just wouldn't be able to hate them. Awful, yes. Just have to play the prog music even louder....

Green Day guitar doesn't seem to be too great either  worst thing is I'm in a band with these people, I'm gonna have to be playing these songs...save me please!

Ah but everyone listened to the spice girls when they were ickle :p however listened to avril/busted a few years ago    so yes, much worse thanks :D

Nope don't think I've ever heard that one, happiest day of my life of something like that.. When I'm alot older I'll probably look back on the music I listen to now and it probably wouldn't be my kinda thing. But I could never hate it, because of all the memories. Don't you just hate music association ;)

Don't you just hate music association
As in memories associated with certain songs, so you remember them when you hear the song again? It nearly killed RHCP's Calforication album for me after a difficult break up. Plus more recently certain songs can have a seriously depressing effect on me. :(

*mood swing*

Anyway, i'm still fairly n00bish, hello! *waves happily* :)

Yeah I don't seem to have many happy music associations :( Californication's a really bad song for me too.. Plus I know everyone thinks Radiohead is the most depressing thing since razor blades, but I like them, except for The Bends. I listened to them at a really bad point in my life and now they're not really worth going near for me.

Crazy person :p Your fault for getting into the bad, you'll have to get yourslef out of it ;)

Hehe I did the Avril, not the Busted though. I went from pure pop, to rock/pop, to indie pop, to rock, to all the underground stuff I like now :)

Ah, ok. Yep same, loads of stuff from the past I don't like anymore but I couldn't hate it because it has so many memories. Ruins my lovely music collection but I cant get rid of it :p

I have a mix of music associations. Some good, some bad, some just make me think about stuff. It depends how I start off. Either make me happy for the memoris or make me regretful and make me miss people... *sigh*

This thread was inspired by Randomea's thread 'the newb thread'. Here you can introduce a newb to the rest of the NS posters. Then, hopefully the newbs will feel more at home and they will engage in more conversations.

I would like to introduce Oscarina, Hylian Peoples, and Faschistos.

Oscarina has already been here for a week or so. She has already spoken to a lot of the posters. She is very smart and nice. She likes to engage in a lot of the debates, especially ones about boobs.

Hylain Peoples is a Russian boxer. I am already intrigued by that imformation alone. I can't wait to see what else he tells us.

Faschistos is a brand new poster. I don't know much about him but he/she is very nice and likes the word uber. I think that he/she is also German. (I'll have to find out about the gender.)

Actually, wasn't mine. Just tried to keep bumping it back to life. And failed.
This is why I'm not interested in Medicine.

Renaissance = supreme depression = beauty.

All my friends keep telling me off for listening to depressive songs, but songs don't get me down....just my imagination + people + weekends.

*curses over-vivid imagination*

I've got Avril on my angst playlist...just 'cos my dad gave it to me and it's music.
Anyone heard Guitars by Mike Oldfield? *bows down and worships* And he's a gamer too...wrote his own brand new computer language for his game.

My *cough*& my dad's - me steal from him? never*cough* music collection ranges from Celine Dion and Sarah Brightman through Andrea Bocelli and ALW to Lotr to instrumental nuage to Rock Folk & Dylan to Classic rock to soft rock/pop rock (P!nk \o/) to modern radio to even garage to pop ballads...back to Dion then....
