Actually I'm an atheist. I look at Mars like the Church of Satan looks at Satan. The symbol for the wild and untamed part of the human psyche. Not as a real living being.

OK, be prepared, but why does that mean you have to actually invade other countries that have not invaded you or even threatend to? And why does it mean you all have to be armed to the teeth, even the civilians?
I don't back wars of aggression against those who haven't attacked us or our allies. I didn't back the invasion of Iraq.
I do beleive that if a nation attacks us or our allies we should bring hell down upon them.
An armed populace is part of the American character. I wouldn't trade it away for almost anything. Especially not for a tiny ammount of extra security.

Ask an archaeologist. Ask an anthropologist who studies primitive tribes. Those people make war quite often. Much more often than modern nations.
