It's a bit late, and I'm not going to overly research, but your last name origin depends on your heritage, does your family originate in Lithuania, Scotland or England.
Lithuania = one who is left-handed.
Scotland = From the Gaelic "cearr" funny enough also meant left handed.
England = From the original French, "De Kari" or of the manor Kari (Kari = cared/beloved)
The De Karis came to England in the 9th Century from Normandy, as part of the Norman Invasion of 1066 The name appears in the Doomsday Book.
Variations include Carey, Carrey, Cary and the same with an s on the end.
Of course if you know your heritage is from a different location it might be different. :)
