Rammstein?? Rammstein are about as innovative as Linkin fucken Park. All they do is play dirty buzzsaw power chords with some dude with a deep voice growling in german. Theres no soul or melody whatsoever, they're just mean for the sake of being mean. There's a shitload of talent in metal these days if you know where to look. In Flames, Killswitch Engage, Chimaira, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, The Kovenant. Any one of those bands and loads more kick the shit out of Rammstein any day of the week.

people must have said limp bizkit by now and any other iliterate band. A lot of people said about Nirvana, couldn't agree more but the kinda stuff thats around because of nirvana I mean Seether, for for the love of anything holy. The only reason we know n e thing about Seether is because of the lead singer having somthing to do with Amy Lee which brings me to the last band I'll mention which is simply Evanescence.

I just finished reading through all 17 pages of this stuff, so here's my opinion. Nirvana do get way too much hero worship, but then they brought a new genre of music into the mainstream, which is a pretty impressive feat. I don't see any of you guys doing it. They're the only band that I like that have been called overrated so far, so I thought i'd defend them. For me the crappest music always seems to come from solo artists. I can think of very few solo artists that I would actually deem 'artists' , in fact the only one I can think of at the moment is Aesop Rock. I have to say Metallica are overrated. I just don't get them. To redneck for me I think. NuMetal is pretty overrated, Linkin Park actually made something unique with ReAnimation, but the rest of their stuff is pretty bland. I think you should all try and download some Blindspott. Easily the greatest NuMetal band in existence, and they come from New Zealand. And they kick ass. NuMetal style, but with substance. My personal pat hates are 'pop punk' like avril lavigne, simple plan etc. and 'wuss rock' like coldplay (how can anyone listen to it? it's just so damn whiny). Rap/Hip Hop/R&B...most of it is just pathetic, it's just so easy to laugh at people who think they're 'gangsta'.

Pink Floyd- "We don't need no education" Let's face it, whether you have heard it 1,000,000 times, or 1 time, it's a classic. In schools, kids sing it to this day. Comfortably Numb- just hearing the song feels like you've become "comfortably numb" when you hear it. Hey You, Dark Side of the Moon, Run Like Hell, Time, crap, I've said more than a couple songs :)
Led Zeppelin- Immigrant Song, If you know this song, you'll instantly have that riff in your head; Heartbreaker, The Ocean. Cadillac uses parts of LZ's "Rock and Roll" to advertise its cars.

I agree with you and Nirvana's overrated status. It seems martyrdom instantly propels people to god like status. 2 Pac, Puff Daddy, need I say more? ;)
Simply because you can name one or two classic songs by a band doesn't mean that they are deserving to be hailed as the best ever by people, which is what happens with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. It takes either a large body of work, with a lot of great songs (great, not just good) or a smaller body of work with mostly, if not all great songs. That's just my opinion for how one should define the best of all time, anyway. And Nirvana would fit that bill, but not the other two.

All I was pointing out was a couple of good reasons for each band people were bashing. Do you want me to compile a larger assortment of songs? Besides, all it takes is one really good song to put a group on the map. Just look at the mass produced crap music today. Also, one REALLY good song that stays in the innards of music history is all it takes. "96 tears," written by ? and the Mysterians, is regarded as one of the best ever made, but try to think of any other song they made. They have a permanent mark on music history.

Pink Floyd is a great band but The Wall is a horrible album. Floyd isn't overrated, but The Wall certainly is. It amazes me that this self-indulgent, pompous, Roger Waters musical masturbation has become Pink Floyd's most recognized album. It is no wonder the lyrics appeal to 12 year olds.

That album sucked. The two that came before it were amazing.

I have to admit, that song is rather catchy

Jet. They suck. They rip off the Beatles, the White Stripes and Coldplay all in the space of three singles.
UGH.

'pop punk' like avril lavigne

Avril Lavigne's far from "pop-punk". She's a pop star, plain and simple. The media just gave her that title without listening to her music.

Metallica, redneck>????? Where 'd you get that from?

Well, red neck bogans, if you know what that means. Mainly because of james hetfield and the way he talks. It really bugs me.

Which is why I was saying that it takes more than one really good song for a group to be named the best of all time.

I can see its a good song, Im not saying it isnt. All im sayin is tht is overrated by people who say they r GNR fans, but when you ask them to name their greatest song, alot of people would say Swet Child O' Mine
Yeah, it's an ok song, but it's not their best (or in my opinion even close to their best), Crazy from the 'Lies' album is better, as is 1 in a million, and I Used to Love her, and even Patience, and just about everything from 'Appetite For Destruction', and about half of the two Use Your Illusion' albums, although so far as I can tell it's mostly downhill from that point...

MTV.

How can MTV be overrated musically, it has nothing to do with music, it's all pop culture. Britney Spears, Linkin Park, Chingy, none of them are musicians they are pop culture icons. It is cool to like them, so people like them.

You would have been correct about 10 years ago when they actually revolutionized music and the music industry.

MTV revolutionized music TEN years ago? Try TWENTY. Wow, you are a youngin'. MTV went down about ten years ago, and now it's unrecognizeable. I'm an old fogey, so I remember when MTV premiered.

About 10-15 years ago MTV managed to completely blur the lines between music and pop culture. They have perfected it since.

Can't say I agree with the beatles being listed here.

But I'm not keen on U2 and the Manic Street Preachers should all jump off the bridge .
But that's my taste rather than a statement of facts.

I have to say I can. Most of their later stuff is good, but it's hard to see the brilliance of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and their other earlier stuff.

If you consider that Help, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, Let It Be, and Abbey Road are five of the greatest rock albums ever made, and that the early stuff the Beatles did single handedly saved rock and roll, I don't think they can be considered overrated.

How do you figure that their early albums singlehandedly saved rock and roll?
