Many turkish families already have relatives in a european union country.
Turkey is an important trade partner for europe.
There are also many Americans here. Marrokans, Algerians, Egyptians, Saudi's etc...does that mean their country of origin is now a European country as well? Don't think so.
Turkey is an important touristic destination for european countries.
Also many Europeans go on safary to Kenya or backpacking in East Asia.
Compared to other islamic countries, turkey offers the biggest social freedom in general.
Tunesia has equal freedoms if not more.
The region of Turkey has always been an actor in european history for almost 2000 years.

Right, i know you lot are going to call me 'racist' and all that, but can you really blame me? In the first world war, i lost 1 great grandad and seven great uncles, and then in the second world war i lost both my grandads. All thanks to the germans. Actually, im british and my family members were in the BEF, or British Expeditionary Force, which consisted of 100,000 men, and they went to Belgium in 1914, to try to push back or at least hold the Germans. And one of them was in the 22nd Royal Artilley Garrison. And sadly they were all killed when the Germans (who outnumbered the BEF by about 1 and a half million) pushed the british back after a week or so of fighting. In WW2, my Grandad and his friend(which is how my parents met) fought for the Royal Scots, situated in Aberdeen and lost their lives in Normandy on June 7 1944. So, my friend, it happened, and believe it.
