Glory Road - High Fantasy - OOC & Sign Up
The Glory Road - every one knows of that famous- or to civilized homebody folk - Infamous Road.
It's the path that calls to us, whispering of fame, fortune, adventure, untrammeled destiny. You know you hear it - whispering in the back of your mind, the depths of your soul, a calling the civilized folk, the homebodies never hear, can't hear. They know not the wild skirling joy, the complete aliveness we feel when faced with sure danger and mostly certain death.
Come ride with me for a time if you dare.
No dung smeared youths fresh from the family farm, no wilting princesses scarce ever having straddled anything more daring than a palfrey, no pink cheeked apprentices who think that because they've stolen their master's books that they are pussiant and dangerous mages, no chanting monks who know only their clositered abbe..
No, only those with skill and experience can keep up with me and my travelling companions...
I’m Orome Heartfyre, and things are not always what they seem.
However when one is …
· An acknowledged as a mistress of the blade before my fifteenth year, believed by some to be the avatar of the Goddess Kai’iel, Goddess of swords and skill with such. – I don’t believe that I am, but I am divinely gifted with preternatural skill with a blade, that I will acknowledge.
· One’s father is brother to the Emperor of a very powerful Empire,- He is Commander Martial and my Uncles right hand. And our side of the Family is far more sane than my Uncle's side.
· One’s ex lover is the heir to an even more powerful, demonic Empire, (and mother to his own heir )
· One is very wealthy, with extensive prosperous lands in my own right.
· One is bonded to a Helcorn. Almost as intelligent as a human, agile as a cat and almost impossible to kill, protective and very dangerous.
· One is traveling with a Kitsune.
One might guess that life would be easy…
And what in the Seven Hells is one doing in a inn?
One might guess and one would probably guess wrong.
Life is not without certain difficulties
1) I am an ex Voyar of the Sisterhood of Staff and Steel. Those of the Order have little sense of humor when one of their feted knights leaves the Order in disgust over their policies, politicing and underhanded activities.
2) I am not at my Uncle's, the Emperor of Nihongo, Court for much the same reason- speaking inconvenient truths and surviving more assassination attempts than one rightfully should. And even my honoured father cannot shield me from the Emperor’s wrath forever. I guess I shouldn't have mentioned his new clothes.
3) I am not at the Court of the Blood of Illu’varr, because I am the mother of Rakkan’s ( He who is heir to the Empire ) designated heir and have to bad taste to only be half Illu’varr. And again I speak truths no one wants to listen to. I blame it on my mother who, though she has never said, was probably chosen to be a treaty bride for just that dangerous forthrightness. However by Nihongo standards she is the soul of discretion.. And as I said the incalculable crime of being only half Illu’varr and thus the highest rank I could ever hold would be that of merely Concubine. I have to great a knowing of my own worth, and self pride to accept such a lesser standing.
4) It’s not safe to go back to my own lands - I have a vengeful ex sorcerer king looking for me and to my misfortune he knows where they are. And while I think he may be sane enough not to destroy the lands just to get revenge on me, I'd rather not put that to the test.
5) Helcorns aren’t exactly common, in fact they are down right rare, and being essentially demons, they do attract attention, so see comment above.
6) Kitsune aren’t exactly common either, but one small bit of fortune, Nari doesn’t look like what most expect a Kitsune to look like.
Oh, and might I mention the man I was supposed to marry, - the father of my twins, a son and a daughter whom my father is raising for me so as to keep them safe- disappeared and has never returned?
I am tired of leaving places on the run. Inn’s mostly and mostly not because of any thing I had done. But I tend to stick my nose into other people business and that often isn’t the wisest, but it is often the most interesting..
Well it’s morning at yet another inn, and I’ve been here several days, and no troubles yet. I’ve made a bet with Black Fang - said Helcorn- and Nari - Kaminari, my Kitsune friend and travelling companion -how long it would last.
This is a most likely short term High Fantasy game. Lots of majick, high level of skills, lots of danger, as much character development as you want, but the more the better and real your character seems.
Please have good gaming skills, ability to read the other players posts and post reliably in reply to them.
Decent spelling, grammar and writing skills.
There is going to be violence, gore, death, drunkness, possibly racial disharmony, treachery, and possibly even sexual situations. If these things offend you don't sign up.
Please be willing to post frequently - I can't say how fast the game will move, but it's not fair to the other players to not keep up -
Please be willing to have your character act rather than just react - sometimes one just has to do it on ones own.
I as GM don't feel that I am here to drag you along- you can create your own subplots and activities.
While wank is allowed uber wank is not - even the most expereinced archer misses once in a while, even the best fighter takes wounds, and even the god of thieves has had his comeupance now and then...
Very cool sounding RP. I am definitely in. Those who know me will attest to the fact that I pass all of your criteria for joining.
I will create a character tomorrow when I have time.
I've never had a chance to RP with you DMG, but I know your qualifications and you are most welcome!
Interested, will be getting character up soon.
I've never had a chance to RP with you DMG, but I know your qualifications and you are most welcome!
Ah, thank you.
Character will be up by tonight.

Ht & Build: Smallish, slender, frail looking but has greater strength than she appear to have but not out of the range of 'normal for a human'.
Hair: Glossy blue black
Eyes: True black
Skin: cool pale beige, youthful complection, no scars, no tattoo's
Kaminari is a 3 Tailed Kitsune (http://www.atddm.com/nari.htm) of some eight hundred years of age.
I am slightly confused on the Kitsune (not knowing anything about them).
Is she a pet of Orome or a traveling companion?
Does she appear in human form or fox form (most often)?
Not sure what other questions I could ask, but I need a little tutorial, thanks.
[btw, I have my character ready, I just need to do a write up and post it (but not until after dinner).]

Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox. Foremost among their abilities is to shapeshift into human form; a fox is said to learn to do this when it attains a certain age.
The folkloric kitsune is a type of yōkai (Japanese for spirit or demon). In this context, the word kitsune is often translated as fox spirit.
For more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsune
LOL calling Nari a pet might just be the last things some one might ever do.
Technically (by some lights) Kitsuni are a form of vampire, or a demon, kami, and in stories are often the direct servant of one of the Japanese deities ( Inari, god of rice and to the Japanese a most major Deity )
There are many excelllent write ups out there and the Wiki isn't bad but to really get indepth ( perhaps too much so ) might I suggest
Foxtrot's research on Kitsune Lore (http://www.comnet.ca/~foxtrot/kitsune/kitsune1.htm)
In their purest form Kitsune are incredibly powerful, capable of fully deity strength arcana - however I am playing Kaminari ( literally translates out to Kami < Spirit / Avatar > of lighting ) as being lesser than she would be if she had never left her home land. She draws her energy from storms and lightning as they occur in the physcial world, useing their energy to maintain her resevoir rather than drain the world about her as many of her kind do.
She has only three tails despite her age, because of her prolonged stay away from her home playing field. It takes more out of her to do some of the major acts that Kitsune still back home would do with out thinking - I've had a teleport nearly kill her ( Granted it was with no preperations and took a sizeable group nearly half way round the planet, but it was physcially devesating to her.)
She will mostly be seen in full human form, and if in fox form will seem to be nothing more than a slightly larger than normal Red Fox. Her 'half form' - half human woman with a fox's tail ( and maybe a fox's head ) is something she rarely manifests - but at that time all three tails may be visable.
I have a very long write up at the bottom of the link above, and while it differs from some Kitsune lore out there, it is how I will be playing 'Nari.
Kaminari/ Kitsune write up (http://www.atddm.com/nari.htm)
Like I said, I have no problem with others playing powerful characters, heck, I am!
Hey 5CN, care to join in the fun?
and Theao, you are most welcome to join the RP!
Ah, thanks. I will probably learn more as your RP her. BTW, do the two know each other or are they just two of your characters?
My character certainly is not incredibly powerful. In fact, he isn't that powerful at all. Not at all a push over and is quite capable of defeating the lowly soldiers, but I think that I am going to have your characters be able to beat him.
(I think I might be creating him as a character that I use in future RPs, so this will be his first and thus at his weakest. I also might change things from his bio as I go along.)
The Omnik Empire
18-08-2006, 01:32
NAME: Silliconaria Silestia(people call her Sil)
AGE: 31
GENDER: Female
PLACE OF ORIGIN: Dragon Mountain Village, Central Kingdom.
RACE: Kingdomer
HIEGHT: Five feet, three inches
EYES: None, when she had them, they were hazel. They were cut out by the Order of Sorcery as punishment for supposed crimes against the Central Kingdom.
HAIR: Long, black
OCCUPATION: Sorceress of the Central Kingdom Order of Sorcery
Sil is on the run from Central Kingdom authorities. She has been accused of betraying the Kingdom's military secrets to the Omnik Empire; assosiation with the known rebel faction, the Dragon's Ka; and attempted assasination of King Rolfe IV. All of which she is guilty of.
Oh they have been travelling together for about six months now and while each still has their secrets, they are pretty friendly and 'comfortable' together. Orome kills things that need killing with blades and Nari kills things that need killing with arcana.
Question- Omnik- I would guess that Sil 'sees' things via some sort of magery/ arcana/ magical technology device?
and just the sort of woman to get into trouble with Orome and Nari - neither of which is any sort of goody two shoes.
and alterations to a growing biography are fine as long as the growth is not too radical.
I am wondering how to get my character involved with the rest of yours. (I will have his write up posted in a few minutes), but he is a knight and thus follows a code of honor and chivalry.

No, she's just blind. No eyes means no sight. She guides herself with a cane; a perfectly mundane, non-magical, wooden cane.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/Sebastian.jpg
Name: Lord Sebastian the Lionhearted (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/Sebastian1.jpg)
Rank: Champion Commander of the Secret Order of Knights of the Grand Croix
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 34
Hair: Long Brown
Eyes: Green-Brown
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 190
Weapons: Currently he uses Angel's Wing, though he is seeking the blessed and elusive Grand-Cross
Abilities: Shoot forth an angular blast of energy from his sword that occasionally takes the form of angel wings. The ability to call on a mythical dragon of pure energy is a rare but occasional event; it comes to him times of great need and is extremely powerful.
Skills: High skills with swords of numerous types.
Personality: Steadfast in his beliefs of good, he is very chivalrous and honorable to the core.
History:
Since his inception into the Secret Order of the Grand Croix, Sebastian has been a loyal knight, following the Code of Honor and Chivalry to the letter of the law. Upholding justice and protecting the innocent and weak, Sebastian has served the greater good his entire life. When he was but a little boy, he already had visions of knighthood in his future. Often, when there were soldiers stationed in town or at the nearby gatehouse along the northern wall, the young boy would beg of them to teach him to be a warrior. The soldiers found it entertaining and slowly began teaching him their ways. However, when they first put a sword in his hands, it was quite evident that he was born a natural. As the men taught, Sebastian quickly swallowed up all the information, studying their moves with a passion and committing them to memory. By the age of twelve, it was all to obvious that he was destined for bigger and better things; the soldiers that were once entertained by toying with the little boy were now hard pressed to keep up with him as they battled him together, six on one. With quick parries, thrusts, and slashes Sebastian beat them back until eventually there was little competition for him.
It was at the age of fifteen that everything changed. A man – a mysterious man – entered his small village one day and would soon shape the course of his destiny. The man, though dressed as a vagabond as some said, was far from it. He revealed, but only to the young boy, his true identity; Miguel de Cervantes, the commander of a secret order of knights known as the Grand Croix. With promises of knighthood and advanced teaching, Cervantes was able to convince Sebastian to leave his home, the only thing he had ever known, and travel to a hidden hideout of the Order. The hideout was an old abandoned castle, though it was much smaller at the size of a fort, hidden deep in the woods miles from civilization and even then there were just a few lone farms. There was no connection to the outside world... just the knights.
For ten long years, Cervantes personally taught and instructed Sebastian; not just how to wield a sword, but in what it meant to be a knight as well as academic studies. He was to be a learned man of the people for the people. His skill with a blade progressed and advanced until there was no doubt who the most talented knight in the land was. Though occasionally defeated in his earlier years, the young knight took the experiences to heart and they pushed him to become better, quicker, and stronger. In a short time he surpassed the legends of his contemporaries and eclipsed his former master. He was sent on many a mission with mixed results, including one that would cement his leader's faith. He was sent on a dangerous and long quest to retrieve a mythical sword said to be forged in the heavens by the angels themselves. It had disappeared several hundred years earlier, though many regarded it as mere myth. The quest was not one that Cervantes expected him to accomplish, but after sixteen bitter months of struggling and fighting through pain and injury, the deed was done. Sebastian climbed the highest mountain where rumors of the sword said it was, into the frigid snows that towered into the clouds. After fighting through griffins and snowbeasts, the knight found his way to the summit... and there frozen in ice was not just the sword but the armor to go along with it. Sebastian returned down the mountain and to his Order wearing the mythical Angelic Armor and Angel Wing sword.
With any doubts of his greatness obliterated by the act, Cervantes called the young knight into his private chambers and hit him with one hard blow. "I am dying... To you I leave three things of more importance to me. I leave you my name and fortune to do with as you please. I leave you this scroll; the last remnants of the quest for the Grand-Cross. And last of all, I leave you with my duties. With the power vested in me by the Holy Cross, I dub thee the Champion Commander of the Order of the Grand-Croix." And with that, the man's heart was at rest and his body lay in peace.
After a secret funeral of sweet sorrow, remembrance and condolence, celebration and grief, Miguel de Cervantes was laid to rest and Sebastian officially took charge. Now everything had changed and it was a new today, for better or for worse...
In short, he is a mysterious knight with some odd powers (though just a couple) and follows his code of honor and chivalry.
Name: Hatusri Hiragana
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human(cursed)
Height: 5'8"
Eyes: Dark Grey
Hair: Reddish Grey
Info: Born into a family of martial artists, swordsmen and warriors, he quickly learned a large number of the warrior arts. As per family tradition he left home at an early age to further learn and endure in the world. After angering a witch, he was cursed with a number of things including the inability to remember what the curses are or do.
In addition due to certain incidents during childhood, he has two completely polar personalities, the 'white' one that could be best classified as a saint, while the 'black' is brash, perverted and agressive. As neither side remembers the actions of the other it frequently leads to problems.
Oh nice write up DMG!
and might I suggest the best way of meeting up- in the grandest non tradition of meeting up...
I'm really, really tired of getting chased out of perfectly good inns, As I might have mentioned. But I am also fond of taking up for the underdog,..
You know, the situation where any reasonable character would look up from their breakfast, blink once, and go back to finishing said breakfast and not interfering with said kidnapping, fight, altercation, arguement, bullies beating up on poor disenfranchiesd ( insert current, local, or always and ever oppressed group of your choice/ du jour/ best for getting us all involved )
and while Orome will probably call Sebestain a fool, she does have her own code of honor, and ethics ( why do you think she is unwelcome in so many places? ) and is not innately evil or cruel.
and Theao, that could be a very interesting character, and one destined to get into trouble with a capitol T!
Thank you, that's part of the goal I had when I set out to create him. Of course I've taken some of the idea from a number of Anime I've recently figured out how to get legally and free.
Okay Omnik, I have no problem with that but I worry about your character managing to keep up with the others.
Oh nice write up DMG!
Thanks.

Ah, but in Sebastian's case it wouldn't be odd at all to attempt to stop such things from happening against innocent people in a place of business.
However, my concern is if that happens and he gives chase, why would he stay with them. Is reaction would be to chase after them, demand they return and apologize and what not (so long as nobody was killed), and after they refuse twice, he pulls his sword and attempts to take them into custody. Battle ensues, if Sebastian wins (which I am thinking of having him lose) then they would be taken back, and if Sebastian loses they would probably leave him there or something. Either way it doesn't seem like he would be following around a bunch of criminals under his own free will.
lol, my mispeaking has caused a misunderstanding.
She isn't being chased out of the inns, she leaves so as not to bring further trouble to said inn. It's not the inns fault that some one tried to kidnap Lady Anne as she sat sipping tea in the morning room of the inn, but after rescueing Lady Anne from said villians, Orome has to leave so said villians don't come back and trash the inn further... ( it wasn't her fault one of the assaliants summoned a giant and it wrecked the inn...)
and then there was the time a dragon was sent to kill Orome and her companions. They defeated the dragon, but the damage that ensued during the combat made them most unwelcome at what remained of the inn...
Then there was the time..
NO it's not odd for Orome to stop such goings on either, but for some odd reason she tends not to be welcome at the inn afterwards...

No, probably my fault; I am quite tired.

Well in that case, Sebastian's response probably depends on the specific incidence.
However, I have thought of a reason (and a very viable one at that) why he could go with them even if he thinks they have done something wrong and chases after them.
This thread has once again brought back my interest in upper level fantasy. I have a bit of experience in this field. DMG and Theao would know me as Deatharon, The creator and mastermind behind Mavis and Minax the Dark Goddess of Death Destruction and Dark Magic.
I do not plan on using my Deatharon characters for this rp. I have tried playing with Hansia my good human nation. I do however have one evil Lich character that I would love to test out here…
Thanks DMG for the format for my character.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Xharnia/ArchMagiusofNecromancyWorfanLichen.jpg
Name: Worfan the Lichen
Rank: Arch Magius of Necromancy of The Order of Arcania
Gender: Male
Race: Undead/Human
Age: Pre-Hansian Kingdom (8,000 Years old)
Hair: (Was black)
Eyes: Red
Height: 5'9
Weight: 125
Weapons: The Black Staff of Lost Souls
Items: Cloak of Illusion, Ring of Spell Shielding, and the Amulet of Darkness.
Abilities: His Amulet of Darkness gives him the ability to shield himself in necromantic energy. He can raise and command the undead with his dark powers. The Black Staff of Lost Souls can unleash a barrage of screaming sprits at his enemies.
The staff can also drain souls of the living. (Slow process that can be overcome by opponents will.) Aura of Fear surrounds him. His cloak gives him the look of an old cranky wizard. His ring can shield him from low-level spells and non-magical weapons. (Wears out after three uses per day.)
Skills: High Mastery in Dark/Necromantic magic, Hard to kill and can rise from the dead because of his phylactery..(Kind of a special ability.)
Personality: Worfan is totally corrupt and evil. He has no qualms about killing innocent people. He also loves to corrupt promising people to the dark ways of necromancy. He despises holy magic and especially Knights of honor. He often calls them fools and idiots.
He does respect a challenging opponent and has shown mercy to such opponents in the past. This quality might be from his time when he was human. He is totally in control and rarely goes into a wrathful anger. If finally provoked to such anger, Worfan is known to literally raise the dead in his wraith. (I mean literally!)
Weakness: Holy magic, Destroy his Phylactery and he can die permanently, Holy water, and anything that disrupts the magic that keeps him animated
History:
Worfan was born long ago to a tribe of humans called the Hansi. The Hansi people lived in a state of constant war against the Orcs, Ogres, and other human tribes through out the land. Worfan grew up to be an apprentice to the Grand Shaman of the Hansi tribe. Slokhan the Mad. Slokhan used his spirit magic to punish his enemies and protect his people. One day the High Elves from the forests found the human tribe encroaching on their territory and launched a massive raid in retaliation. The Elven raiders with their superior bronze weapons and their more developed and powerful High Magic crushed the weaker human spirit magic that Slokhan and his apprentices practiced.
The Grand Shaman and the Warchief Slovek were both killed and many Hansi had been taken as slaves back to the High Elves Kingdom. The Hansi were a broken people and many of them abandoned their lands and headed south to found the Kingdom of Hansia.
Worfan had lost his family and friends in the attack. His master had been slain and the only thing that saved the poor14-year-old boy was his knowledge of spirit magic. Worfan wandered the plains of the land alone until he arrived into a swampy area called Kirator at the age of 18. Worfan made his home in the swamp and started experimenting on his Spirit power.
The young man learned how to make contact with powers stronger than elemental spirits. The inquisitive Worfan soon managed to increase his power to reach the attention of a Dark Dragon God named Zalrath. Zalrath was interested in this puny creature that had managed to draw his attention. The Dark God decided to grant Worfan the knowledge to turn his spirit power into a more powerful form of magic. Zalrath taught Worfan the black arts of necromancy. Worfan was eager to learn this art and was slowly corrupted in his path to learning the art of magic.
Worfan became the first human necromancer in Hansia. Worfan learned to make the dead walk and bend the spirits to his dark will. He even learned a way to extend his own life in a most terrible ritual that would grant him immortality and turn him into a hideous abomination. Worfan by now completely corrupted by his dark power formed a dark army of the undead. He gathered ghouls, Skeletons, Vampires, and Zombies in there hundreds and waged an unholy war of vengeance against the High Elves to the north. The war lasted for twenty long years and had devastated both sides.
Worfan in the end was struck down by the Elven Queen Alst'ra when she called upon her divine power from the Elven Gods to smite the upstart human necromancer. Worfan was greatly injured and at death's door. A lesser creature would have died instantly from the massive attack but Slora a trusted Vampiress captain in Worfan's army saved him at the last minute. This act of heroism caused her final ascent to true death.
Worfan eventually reached his fortress in Kirator and performed the only thing that could save his life in this time of need. He called to the gates of the Abyss and managed to attract a pit fiend to the prime material plane of existence. Worfan offered the souls of one hundred captured elven souls in exchange for the power to perform the ritual of Lichdom. The foul fiend agreed and thus was the abomination known as Worfan the Lichen born.
Worfan eventually gathered human followers and taught them the dark arts. He found a certain pleasure in teaching younger living mortals the art of wielding necro magic. It was because of Worfan's generosity of his dark teaching of the forbidden arts, he is often called the father of the necromantic arts. This has given Worfan a certain prestige amongst the rest of the Hansian arcane users. He was eventually and grudgingly given the title of Arch Magius of Necromancy to The Order of Arcania. This acknowledged him to the rest of the Order and helped him to make his school of thought a legal and not so forbidden art. The followers of this art are now mostly residents of Kirator but Worfan has recently left his private fortress and Hansia to explore and find more apprentices and power to warp into his own dark desires…
In short, He is a powerful undead Lich Disguised as a very ancient wizard...
Heh, I don't think our characters are going to get along very well. :D Good thing Sebastian has a holy sword and armor :p

All this Kitsune stuff reminds me of - kill me please - Naruto :p
On the other hand, isn't Kitsune the nickname of one of the Love Hina girls??? Alright, now you guys REALLY can kill me. :p
Just a note of interest: Theao, if I remember correctly, 'hiragana' is a phonetic expression of Japanese. Interesting that you would use it as a family name; I wonder if you know that in proper Japanese, the family name comes BEFORE the given name?
Anyway, VERY interesting RP you've got there, old girl. Kinda worried about you though; it's starting to look to me like you've got your hands in more pies than is good for you. Still, I'm definitely interested enough in this RP to seriously consider signing my name onto the roster.
Before I do that though, Shal, you mind giving me some background information on this world this whole shebang takes place in? I'm thinking of entering a character with skills, statistics, and overall character design based heavily on the Myrmidon/Swordsmaster class of the Fire Emblem games, but first I'll have to see if such a character would fit in well in this particular world.
This is really spiking my blood with adrenaline. ;)
I hadn't planned out the world. It's just a world like any other world...but aaarrgh you know me.... here's a map it's only the northern half of the western hemisphere ( ie 1/4th of the world ) And honestly pretty much anything in the way of high fantasy goes.
Remember none of us is probably a good representative of our parent culture- if wer were we'd be happily at home making a good life in said culture
Large Map (http://www.atddm.com/nwa1b.jpg) 1 inch is roughly 1,500 miles
Map with climate zones (http://www.atddm.com/nwa1b2.gif) same scale as above map
yellow square up near planes is the city we are currrently at / near.
Ni-Hongo, Illu'Var, Alamut, and SongHold are already claimed / defined.
IF you feel like it - Chose a place, a space, create your own nation, your own culture etc, have fun. Like I said wank is okay uber wank is not.
Sorry no one out powers the Illu'varr. Why do you think they hold so much land?
Hansia - I have no problem with said Litch, just am a little curious as to why he might join this rather odd lot of adventurers.
Just so long as we don't have any disguised dragons in the party (Illu'varr and dragons have an unstoppable emnity to one another - and Orome is half Illu'varr- it's literally a physical reaction, like an allergy that translates into utter hostility.)
But mostly this is for us to have fun, be outrageous, and write a good tale together...
Where should everyone be starting out?
Just a note of interest: Theao, if I remember correctly, 'hiragana' is a phonetic expression of Japanese. Interesting that you would use it as a family name; I wonder if you know that in proper Japanese, the family name comes BEFORE the given name?
Yes, I do. If I was naming him according to the proper Japanese naming system, it would read as Hiragana Hatusri, but as he's not Japanese it doesn't apply.
Also I know what Hiragana is used for in Japanese, and no it doesn't have anything to do with my character.
Heh, I don't think our characters are going to get along very well. :D Good thing Sebastian has a holy sword and armor :p
(You actually going to stay active in this one?)
Worfan respects strong opponents, He may call Sebastian a fool and stupid knight. I doubt he will try to kill him unless he found him severely weakened or if Sebastian tried to kill him first. Worfan is powerful but not stupid enough to try and fight someone whom can use holy magic that can disrupt the dark magic that is keeping him animated and alive.
(I should be able to stick to this RP. I could not on my threads thanks to the move and having a very hard time sharing a bloody computer with my family. I now have my own computer again.. Work may disrupt me a little but I should be able to post frequently enough.)
Hansia - I have no problem with said Lich, just am a little curious as to why he might join this rather odd lot of adventurers.
Just so long as we don't have any disguised dragons in the party (Illu'varr and dragons have an unstoppable enmity to one another - and Orome is half Illu'varr- it's literally a physical reaction, like an allergy that translates into utter hostility.)
Worfan would properly join looking for some powerful artifact or something that he can use and corrupt to further his goals. His current goals are to find potential apprentices and powerful artifacts to prepare for the Dragon God Wars between the Dark Dragon God Zalrath and the Divine Protector Alastar. (A Gold Dragon God and patron of the Kingdom of Hansia.)
I was also wondering, His magic is granted from Zalrath (a Black Dragon that achieved god hood.) would that kind of power make the allergy react or would only Zalrath's physical presence?

Well, I'll tell you that Sebastian certainly won't be able to put up with Worfan. There is a way that he will follow along the other people and not attack them, but I doubt that is the same for Worfan.

Worfan may end up with a fight on his hands after all. I guess Sebastian and Worfan will probably be fighting/trying to kill each other through the whole RP. This is going to be interesting and very tense situation. Worfan may however challenge Sebastian's code of conduct by retorting, "Does your honor allow you to harm old men. That do not even carry a sword?"
And he'd get a level look from Orome, "and what you carry is as powerful as any sword, don't fog the matter o' decaying one..."
and moment's later "Look 'Bastain, you can't kill him, no matter how he may make your nerves itch. You want the soul of that poor lady returned to her body? Well, he's the only one around who can do it...and Worfan, I don't need eyes in the back of my head to know that you are sticking your tongue out at Sir Gallant Knight here, and stop it!"
Commonish goals make for strange bedfellows...
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...
and no only the physical presence of a dragon will set it off...( many of the sub species like fairy dragons, pseudo dragon, draggones etc will not activate the reaction, but most Illu'varr don't like them )
Ground Zero? Next post - IC thread about to start for our Friday Night Gaming Pleasure....
Nice, I see you have started the RP.
Now we shall see how our characters meet up and get along. I have something mind, but it depends on what your characters do.

Getting booted out of Heaven is bad enough. I don't know of any in particular, but you could count them all on one hand, including me. But I really set precedent. Most people view me as either a powerful wizard or some sort of other world demon. To some extant, they're both right. But it goes much further back.
I got as normal a childhood as can be had. Dutiful parents, proper upbringing, all the right teachers, yeah, I sound like a noble. If it were only that simple. Truth is, I wasn't born human, and even now I share very little with them. Oh sure, I can die, get hurt, find joy, and all that other stuff. But that limits it. I try and keep a low profile, since making myself known will only piss my dad off, and I can't have that.
I'm a god. Or at least, I was. By human years, I'm only 200 years old. We mature fast enough, but since I am considered a baby, I got impatient, and started hunting. Dad said I upset the divine balance, and that I needed to learn what it meant to have limits placed on me. So here's me. Mortal. Barely. I retain much of my powers. You could call it magic, since that what it is, but we give it the name of "The Art." I'm proficient, I can still draw power from the primordial streams, but it's harder than I ever thought possible, and If I do too much, I can still drop dead from exhaustion.
So here I am. The fallen son of a deity. Poetic. I'm not all I once was. But I am learning what it means to be human. I have loved once, but she never gave me children. It was better, I think. She married one of her own race, and leads a happy life. Me? I'm still wandering, seeking to meet my father's conditions of forgiveness. Acting with the greatest muscle I have. No, it doesn't require my heart. I truly acted selfless once. I nearly dided, blind luck saved me. But it didn't restore me.
Name: Powell ApGryfywrd
Race: Fallen deity
Height: 6'1"
Build: Lean, 180lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black
Abilities: Magic user, can use it without need to say any incantation. Since he was a god at one point, Powell (Paul) was trained to use thoughts alone, his power originally bound to his will. Now he has learned to moderate himself, for though he can still walk with the best, he has lost much of what he could originally do. He is still a force to be reckoned with, but he cares not for it. Also possessing skill with a blade, and increased speed and strength, they are high without being outside the range of "normal."
Mindset: This is particularly important for Powell. He views his condition as a curse. Not so much the loss of his power, which he resents, but for the fact that humans have emotions, which he has acquired, and finds foreign. A true stoic, he doesn't recognize the value of emotional experience, or for that matter, the value it puts on the one thing he has yet to fully develop, clear reasoning. In a sense, his one overlying emotion is anger, and his detest of it keeps him bound here.
Key Points:
Time : It's late summer/ early fall, the harvest is in and the living is easy...mostly...a few days before the wedding of the Prince of the City's eldest son/heir.
The Place: Orlando a major city state with pretensions of being an actual kingdom. It lies along a major river and indeed is the first port north of the Massif ( for those of you going north ) and the last port before the mouth of the river and the Sea of Fallen Stars.( for those of you travelling south. Across the river is the western edge of the demonic Empire of the Blood of Illu'Varr.

Name: Darindel Damas
Race: Goron
Eye Colour: Black
Height: 6’6
Abilities: Strength and Trade, Darindel is of the Midlonian Goron Race, one of the Gorons remaining magical talents is the ability to “port” through to other worlds, Darindel collects various goods before he sends them back via an alchemical circle, it’s a limited talent and only works for the purpose of sending goods to and from Darindel. Strength is the main thing of the Gorons, thus allowing him to be able to get by with his limited hand-to-hand combat skills.
Despite his bulky size the Gorons can roll themselves up into a ball and roll at higher speeds. Darindel also barters aggressively to get decent prices for wares to send back, which he sells at a major profit under the auspices of “Special luxury goods” in Midlonia. The Goron race seems to have a natural affinity with fire and explosives, although Darindel lacks his characteristic Bombs, which he left behind in order to carry more goods. Gorons usually eat and digest the minerals from rocks for sustenance, however, some are known to eat “boring” food when necessary, precious stones and minerals are a delicacy according to the Goron race and will happily eat a bag of Emeralds as opposed to sell them on.

Oh, guys, please don't run too far with the thread yet, pretty please? Due to circumstances, I can't post properly until Sunday. :(
Name: Zhao Zhe Tian
Alias: The Black Panther
Portrait: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/HyperionEnergy/Joshua4.jpg
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 24
Hair: Long, blood crimson
Eyes: Amber-brown
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 154
Appearance: Tall, lean, and strapping, with a handsome face full of roguish charm, and a roguish grin hardly ever leaving his mouth. Dressed in an black Oriental-styled swordmaster's robe with orange trim, cut to provide maximum mobility, with a black hat to grace his long, crimson hair.
Weapons:
Jue Shi Hao Jian, literally translated as Best Sword of the Endless Ages. In foreign lands where the people are unfamiliar with his native tongue, Zhao refers to it as the Ultimatum. A treasure heirloom of his tribe, it is a lightweight katana of superior quality, the work of a legendary swordsmith. Imbued with powerful charms of unknown origin, Tian may channel his innate energies through the blade, allowing him to perform fantastic martial feats even amongst his own people. The charmed blade also serves as a buffer against magic, allowing the Black Panther to deflect or even absorb hostile magics, if necessary.
A wakizashi (side arm), or a short blade that Tian can keep hidden in his robes, and whip out to use if necessary. Although it is rare even amongst the Zhao, the Black Panther is one of the few who can fight with both blades in his hands if need be, doubling his combat ability.
Although he can not be bothered to carry one around with him, Tian is also a decent shot with a bow and arrow; on the other hand, those of his tribe members who specialize in the Way of the Eagle Eye as opposed to those who specialize in the Way of the Sparrowhawk would probably consider him a mediocre archer.
Combat Style: The Sparrowhawk Arts, hereditary martial arts of the Tribe of Zhao. A unique aerial swordfighting style in which the Sparrowhawk martial artiste is on the constant move, presenting the opponent with an incredibly hard to hit target. Practitioners of the Arts are trained to tap into their bodies' innate energies, allowing them to perform acrobatic feats in battle that bulkier warriors wouldn't even be able to dream of.
The Sparrowhawk Arts are characterized by the following:
- Great speed. Practitioners are nimble, agile fighters, moving so fast they seem a blur to others.
- Superb reflexes. The demands of their art require that they wear no body armor in order to maximize their mobility, making them relatively vulnerable to damage. However, against a Sparrowhawk, it's not so much about hitting them hard enough as it is about hitting them at all, such is their ability to evade almost anything thrown their way, be it physical or magical.
- Aerial style. Sparrowhawk practitioners are master acrobats, jumping off walls, ceilings, and even bouncing off the parries of an opponent to stay in the air during battle. It is not unknown for a Sparrowhawk to touch the ground only after the conclusion of a battle.
- Advanced physicality. While they're not that much stronger from your average Joe, they're capable of jumping amazing heights and distances. Advanced practitioners are even capable of 'flight' (gliding in mid-air), changing the direction of their movement in midair without the need to bounce off a wall at times.
- Surgical strikes. Sparrowhawk practitioners specialize in ending the battle as quickly as possible, although they are capable of engaging in a long, drawn-out battle against fellow Sparrowhawk practitioners, or otherwise any swordsmen able to at the very least parry their quick, nimble, aggressive style. They are known to be able to find a chink in the most heavily armored of knights, and magicians may be reduced to quick-fire spells against them; the time needed to prepare anything more complicated is enough time for a Sparrowhawk practitioner to come within range of a deadly strike.
The Black Panther, despite his relatively young age, is already a master of the Sparrowhawk Arts, having defeated many worthy opponents throughout his 6 years of wandering the land.
Education: First 18 years learning the Way of the Sparrowhawk from his father, chief of the Zhao Tribe, an Eastern nomadic tribe which existed even before the kingdoms that ruled over the various lands, and are famed for producing some of the world's most famous swordsmen from its ranks. After leaving the tribe to pursue fame and glory at the age of 19, Tian spent the next five years travelling through the land, honing his skills as a sword-for-hire. Along the way, he also picked up the less-than-honorable skills of a master swindler, keeping himself by the proceeds earned from swindling other people whenever jobs were hard to come by. Owns a pair of rigged dice, and a coin which though normal, Tian has learned to manipulate such that it always shows the side he needs to win a coin toss. Apart from the Way of the Sparrowhawk, Tian has also had some training in the Way of the Eagle Eye, and while he does not bother to carry around a bow and/or arrows, he is actually a fairly decent shot with one of those in his hands; which, in his tribe, is considered fairly mediocre. Is also a skilled horsemaster, and like the rest of his tribe, knows how to ride the wild horses of the plains, a feat no outsider can ever achieve.
History: Zhao Zhe Tian was born the second son of Zhao Xuan the Desert Tiger, chief of the Zhao Tribe, a nomadic tribe that wandered the desert lands to the east. The Zhaos are a proud race of people, independent and never seeking to interfere in the matters of other peoples; their sole focus was in the skill of the hunt and the mastery of the blade. Thus it is that in all the lands, tales of the Zhao's legendary skill with the bow are surpassed only by the mastery of their blade. Within the social structure of the tribe, the men of the tribe specialized either in horseback archery, termed the Way of the Eagle's Eye by them, or in bladework, termed the Way of the Sparrowhawk; it is in the latter that the young boy trained in, differing from his elder brother Zhao Zhe Yang the Flying Cheetah, who was the best horseback archer of the tribe. It soon became clear that the young spriteling of a tribal lordling was a prodigy in the making; as befitting the son of a chief; by age 10, the young Tian could challenge and defeat peers of 5 more winters to their name than him, and many of the tribe elders who watched him grow remarked that some day he would grow to surpass even Chief Desert Tiger in swordplay. The most optimistic of them even predicted that someday, the young boy would grow so greatly in skill, he would one day challenge and defeat the most famous of their kind; Jian Shen, the Saint of Swords, who had left the tribe at an early age to seek his own destiny, and was said to have changed the entire course of history by the edge of his blade. It was rumoured that the Saint of Swords now wandered the land, seeking the one who could eventually defeat him, and the Zhao Tribe has not seen a swordsman as accomplished ever since Jian Shen ever since he left the Tribe, Now, they pinned all their hopes on the young Zhao Zhe Tian.
Not that Tian seemed to notice. As he grew from a child of the desert to a youth, Tian retained his carefree attitude, never seeming to realize that his prodigious skill would one day be the cause of great responsibility; after all, Father was leading the Tribe well, and brother Yang, the Flying Cheetah, looked as if he would take to Father's footsteps. As far as Tian was concerned, that left no room in the leadership of the Tribe for him; not that he seemed to mind, as he spent his early years finding pleasure in the improvement of his skill with the blade, the herding of cattle that was spared no man of the tribe, not even the son of the Chief. Those years he lived in blissful ignorance of the outside world, and entertainment to him was the occasional trips into the cities with his peers from the Tribe, and taking part in the rare raid on merchant convoys whenever the merchants of the cities attempted to drive too hard a bargain with the tribespeople for commodities that had to be traded from elsewhere. At the age of 15, Tian reached what the Tribe considered to be the age of manhood; after passing the test of manhood, Tian was ordained a full-grown warrior of the Tribe along with those of his peers who took the test as him, and he was given the clan name of Black Panther. However, it would be four more years before his life changed to take its first steps on his current path.
Increasingly, the Zhao Tribe found themselves attacked by bandit raids, and while the warriors' far superior skill with the bow and the blade held back the frequent attacks, life was no longer as peaceful as it was of old, and the Tribe slept uneasily at night, always ready for the possibility of a bandit attack at any moment. It was at this time that Tian began to become more aware of the world around him. For the first time in his life, Tian recognized how events in the outside world could affect the Tribe so much......and his interest was peaked.
He had to see this outside world for himself. He had to see how it worked; how people in the cities lived, how people in different parts of the world lived. He had to figure out for himself, how everything would eventually lead back to the Tribe.Three nights after Tian turned 19, the young warrior, known to his Tribe as the Black Panther, vanished into the night, carrying only enough food supplies for three days, and the Jue Shi Hao Jian which had been presented to him at his coming-of-age ceremony.
Five years has passed since that night. While he had not seen the Tribe since then, much had happened to change Tian. His many experiences, fending for himself as a sword for hire had taught him much about life. The five years had served to transform what was essentially a naive young boy, innocent of the grittiness of life, into a man who revelled in it. Five years had taught him how to smoke one fag after another, had taught him how to drink like a fish. How to enjoy the company of women, how to lose recently-earned fortunes at the gambling table, and how to swindle it back. Only to squander it all on more drink, more smokes, more women. The nomadic life was long behind him; Tian had become a man confident in his ability to adapt to his conditions, to play the field, to live life at the very edge. And the only memento of the innocent, if rough life of the plains, was the Ultimatum that was, and still is, the trusty companion he had fought with all this time.
And so it was, that Tian enters the front doors of the Silver Goblet Inn, with only the Ultimatum in his hand, a pack of smokes in his robe pocket, a pair of rigged dice, and limited funds; for he had, once again, squandered most of his paycheque of the last job on women and drinks. It was time once again to seek a job; little did he know that the job he was about to take up would be one of his most difficult to date...........
Background on the Tribe of Zhao:
The Tribe of Zhao are a proud nomadic race of Oriental descent, calling the central Evergrass Plains their home. Many such nomadic tribes ply the rich grazing lands of the Plains, moving regularly to find more grazing spots for their herds of aurochs. The nomads of the Evergrass Plains, including that of Zhao, are a proud, fiercely independent people; suffering no invaders in their realm, and living as one with the plains. Around since time immemorial, the tribes have adapted to their harsh environment, even thriving in their nomadic lifestyles where other peoples have settled down in theirs, building cities and kingdoms where they settled. The Zhao are the most influential of the various Tribes in the Plains, and the Tribes are generally friendly with one another, despite histories of battles over grazing lands.
The nomads of the Evergrass Plains are famed throughout the land for their extraordinary feats of martial ability, which they had honed throughout many generations of surviving in the plains:
- The Way of the Eagle Eye. Despite the herds of auroch that they shepherd through the Plains, the cattle are not enough to feed all of the nomads in the tribe. To do this, the tribes turned to hunting with a bow and arrows, complementing their diet with whatever game they can shoot down. Because the wild game that can be had in the Plains are fast beasts, it is a requirement for an archer to be able to shoot accurately on horseback; otherwise, one has no choice but to starve, even with meat from cattle. Over many generations, the technique of horseback archery has evolved into the Way of the Eagle Eye, a code of sharpshooting very much prevalent as part of the culture of the Evergrass nomads. The horseback archers of the Tribes are considered amongst the best in the world, and there are few who wishes to test that belief personally. Eagle Eye archers are capable of hitting a target accurately while the horse is in full gallop, and that makes them a very dangerous foe at long range for any enemy wishing to take on one of them. The Way of the Eagle Eye is traditionally practised by the men of the Tribe, for many generations the hunter-gatherers who brought back wild game from their hunts. It is generally quite rare to see women nomads practising Eagle Eye, although if they do exist, they are generally equal to, if not superior in skill to their male counterparts.
- The Way of the Sparrowhawk. As long as the tribes had been around in the Plains, bandits have also resided within the Plains, seeking refuge from the long arm of the law in the boundless wilderness of the Plains. These bandits periodically trouble the nomads with frequent raids of their camps, stealing their cattle and women each time they are successful. Erstwhile a peaceful people who cared nothing for the outside world, this troubling turn of events in the distant past have in turn inspired the nomadic tribes to develop martial ability in order to combat the raiders, enabling them to defend what they have against the insatiable desert bandits. Over the course of many generations, the various differing martial schools of various tribes have culminated, ultimately evolving into the Way of the Sparrowhawk; a unique aerial swordplay that sees few contemporaries in the world in terms of its style as well as aggression. Practitioners of the Way of the Sparrowhawk have trained the innate energies of their bodies to such an extent that they are able to perform superhuman feats of agility; capable of moving like the wind, they have been known to jump high and far, react amazingly fast to attacks with evasive tactics, stay in motion constantly to present a difficult target, and find weak spots to exploit in an opponent, thus landing the killing blow and finishing the fight all too soon for the hapless challenger. A Sparrowhawk warrior typically goes into a battle with nothing more than a katana and a wakizashi, and atypically for warriors from other lands, they wear no body armor other than their robes. Although this makes them more vulnerable, it also increases their mobility; and any warrior who have fought against a Sparrowhawk warrior would attest to the popular belief that their lack of armor doesn't matter when few can land a blow on them. Every nomad in the land has a basic knowledge of how to wield a sword, although not every one of them have the innate potential to graduate into a Sparrowhawk practitioner; those who don't have such skill are typically skilled in the other Way, that of the Eagle Eye, instead, and thus are more likely to wield nodachi on horseback to complement their skill with the bow. Because of this, Sparrowhawk warriors can comprise of nomads of either sex, and since the Way emphasises agility and reflexes over strength, women Sparrowhawk warriors tend to have equal, and even superior skill in the Way over their male counterparts.
The most famous of the Sparrowhawk practitioners is Jian Shen, known within as well as without the Plains as the Saint of Swords. Legend has it that he was a warrior of the Zhao Tribe who went on a journey to the 'decadent lands' many years ago, and that he was a warrior peerless; it is said that he changed the course of history by the edge of his blade. The ultimate goal of a Sparrowhawk warrior is to go on a similar journey to the outer lands, and gain mastery over the Way through the battles he may find along the way; ultimately battling Jian Shen to the death, for the title of the Saint of Swords. It is on this quest that Zhao Zhe Tian, known to his Tribe as the Black Panther, is on; his role as a sword of hire is but a foil, a means of attracting more battles to himself so as to one day gain enough combat experience to challenge the Saint of Swords.
- The Way of the Valkyrie. A relatively new art amongst the nomads of the Plains, events have happened in the past few generations to warrant a revision of battle tactics from the Tribes. Thus, to support the wholly melee-oriented purpose of the Way of the Sparrowhawk, the Way of the Valkyrie was devised, intended to create warriors who would back up their main swordfighters from a short distance. Practitioners of the Way of the Valkyrie are exclusively women; it involves accurate archery at short distances while moving at the blazing speed and dizzying turns of Sparrowhawk evasive techniques. The Zhao Tribe are amongst the first of the nomads to adopt this new technique amongst its women; the daughter of Chief Desert Tiger, Zhao Ming Yue the Moon Tigress, is one of them. Valkyries generally accompany Sparrowhawks into battle, providing tactical mid-range support from their short bows for their Sparrowhawk counterparts.
- Horsemastery. It is said that the horses you can find on the Evergrass Plains are the best horses one can ever find in all the world. Well, the horses of the Plains are fine horses all right, the best of the land........But these horses are not only intelligent enough to understand human language (even if they can't speak it), they are also fiercely proud and independent beasts. And as such, they do not suffer fools gladly; hence, it is impossible to break them down like can be done to lesser horses. They are a free-ranging, fierce breed. And thus, while they're better than any other horse in any other lands, not any Tom, Dick or Harry can ride one. However, the nomads, and only the nomads, can ride them. How come? Because the nomads, just like these horses, are a proud, and fiercely independent race. In a sense, the nomads of the land and the horses of the Plains have a mutual respect for one another. So while herds of the Plains horses are free-ranging, they can most commonly be found near where a Tribe of plains nomads have settled down for a period of time. And the nomads understand one thing; you don't ride a horse of the Plains, it decides if it wants to bear you about. Yes, these horses are a proud, brave race. Unlike lesser horses, these too do not fear Helcorns. For a nomad to whistle for a horse of the plains is akin to asking a favour from an equal, in their tradition. Generally though, the Tribes don't usually have need for the kind of outstanding speed these plains stallions can offer; if they move, they usually rely on their yaks as their beasts of burden. So a horse of the plains knows that when it is whistled for, the nomad doing the whistling is in urgent need, and usually it will react favourably to the nomad's call. Evergrass horses are proud, as I said, and they will not suffer bridles or harnesses. Thus, in most cases, nomads ride Plains horses bareback. However, there is one exception to the rule; if it so happens that two opposing Tribes are at war with each other.
At this point, the nomads will equip decorative war saddles on the plains horses. These war saddles aren't purely decorative, though - they are the platforms on which sheathes for nodachi, and hanging points for a full quiver of arrows, are hung on, and again there are no bridles. These are the only kinds of harnesses the horses of the plains will carry, and only in times of war; the nomads say that the horses treat these saddles as symbols of their superiority over other horses, and are thus in fact PROUD to wear them.
Falconry - The nomads are also skilled in falconry; they primarily use falcons for reconnaissance, as well as message deliverers.
The Zhao Tribe from which Zhao Zhe Tian hails from is the most influential Tribe in the plains, and Chief Zhao Xun, the famed Desert Tiger, is accorded respect by all other chiefs from all other tribes, and is the closest thing to a common representative of all the nomads in the Evergrass Plains. The Desert Tiger has three children, one of which will succeed him as Chief or Chieftainess of the Tribe in the future: They are Zhao Zhe Yang the Flying Cheetah, eldest son and the leader of the Tribe's Eagle Eye Archers; Zhao Zhe Tian the Black Panther, one of the most promising Sparrowhawk warriors to ever come from the Tribe and hailed by many as potentially the next Saint of Swords, whose location is currently unknown; and youngest daughter Zhao Ming Yue the Moon Tigress, the captainess of the Tribe's first batch of Valkyrie bow-warriors.
Oh, guys, please don't run too far with the thread yet, pretty please? Due to circumstances, I can't post properly until Sunday. :(
Heh... it won't be too bad if you come in late. (I will not be able to post for much of Sunday however)
GU, of course we would not leave without you.
I'm sure that every one will find their own reasons to chuff along with us- or not as their character pleases.
Besides, you know how I like to lay ground work and character...
Just a thought, so that we don't force the whole merry group of conflicting characters together, there could be another band of travelers. One bad/evil and one good (or at least not terribly bad like the lich).
Thats a very good idea DMG. I wasn't going to try and force any one to travel together.
This is very much a come and play as you like. Not all the characters will fit together.
I think that Midlonia's character is interesting, but I am not really sure how he is going to fit into things...

The map looks like a cgm of Eurasia sometime during or after Pangea. So, are the Mondragoon Isles the fore-runners of Britain, Ireland, and what looks like Iceland?
Are the isles populated by the dragons, or is that just their name from some by-gone era?
Most dragons as long dead, killed in internecine warfare. Those few that are left aren't welcome in most places. Humans might be short lived, but they and other races have long memories, and remember the destruction that Dragons at war rained down upon the world...even if it was several thousand years ago.
The north west area above the Mondragon Isles are where what few left can mostly be found. AH, the Skraelig Mountains and the Dragon Spine Mountains..
And no this is no proto or past earth, though I created this from landsat maps.
Tanara, I was wondering I have Worfan looking for an artifact called the headband of intellect. Is it possible for the item to be located in some dragon's hoard? I figure that since it is a golden magical item it is highly likely one of those monsters would probably have taken it from some stupid wizard that tried to challenge the beast and ended up dragon food..
No problem Hansia - let me give you some Knowledge that he can stumble upon..
As I mentioned above, Dragons are rare and most of the surviving ones are found i AH, the Skraelig Mountains and the Dragon Spine Mountains.. They are very reclusive now days, and hide their lairs well and with layered defenses.
I doubt that a single person, even yours could survive the journey alone- there are a LOT of nasty creatures and terrain between here and there. Recruiting a party would probably be a very good idea.

Has my character been accepted, or not, or what?

Kind of ironic for a wizard with the headband of intellect to be stupid.
Has my character been accepted, or not, or what?
I think Tanara expressed some concern about how your character will fit in.
Kind of ironic for a wizard with the headband of intellect to be stupid.
The headband is mostly used to help wizards remember spells. Thus more spells for them to cast. It really does not help much against certain outside factors like Ego and foolish Pride.
Still, the irony is there.
My apologies Midlonia. Yes I do have some questions/ reservations about how your character would fit in / why would he want to try and fit in.
The more I think about the cast of characters we are developing the more I have to agree with DMG - I think two groups would be the best.
I can certainly have the quest for the headbad as the starting adventure, with two groups going after it.
One group formed by Worfan and the other by Sebastain.
Hansia, DMG does that sound interesting to you two?
Fine with me, though I doubt Sebastian should be leading anything (not that he isn't a leader, but he doesn't know the lands all that well, probably isn't the most powerful, and his quest is extremely long and most likely won't be completed in the near future - meaning years - as all he has to go on is rumors, most of which are false).
He could certainly be the alignment of one of the parties. Like evil/bad (Worfan) is one and good (Sebastian) is the other.
LOL please note that I didn't say specifically 'lead' - I said formed- as thouse who might end up being the leaders might not be the same as who formed it.
and the parties are not in the eand likely to be solidly of one camp or another. Good and Evil are often seen as monolithic blocks of white and black, when in truth they are a vast spectrum of shade of gray as well as black and white.
Might be better to say selfish versus altrusitic.
Here is how I see the divide falling...
Selfish / Self interest group
Worfan
Powell ApGryfywrd
Sil
Darindel Damas ( wants the gold and gems a dragons horde would have )
Opposing force
Orome
Nari
Sebastain
Zhao Zhe Tian
and poor Hatusri Hiragana caught in the middle and susceptable to the blandishments of both groups.
Just a suggestion...

Hee, Shal, you just went ahead and put Zhao on the 'good' list without even asking what he's really like. :p
But well, I guess you know me best. ;) In all honesty, Zhao is a sword for hire; he'd work for any side who pays him. He's a rogue in the purest sense; a swindler, a drunk, a gambler, one who lives life by the edge. And he's done all kinds of work too; from bodyguard to assassin, the Black Panther's done them all. On the other hand though, even though he's a rogue, he does have a, well if not entirely gold, at least a good heart, especially if it comes to women.
On the other hand, he also has a skewed code of morality. Zhao loves his women, thus he generally doesn't kill them for no reason; although it's not beneath him to undress one Zorro-style. :p So right now, the only thing missing from this RP is a love interest for him to flirt with. Anyone up for it? ;)
And I'm thinking.......a headband of intellect isn't exactly an ultimate prize, y'know. Most of the characters here would have no use for it; generally those characters who are warriors more than mages. So if we're doing a quest for a certain treasure, I'm suggesting something way better than that.
Besides, a better prize may bring about an interesting situation; either party may outfight the other to get to the prize, only to have the individual members end up duking with each other for sole possession. ;)
I think the headband was just for Worfan's character.
Ah but keeping it from him might be a good thing alround - and it does give a base/ foundation reason for the groups to form/ join up.
It does not have to be any characters primary reason for joining the groups - ther emight be some one one wants to get closer too, observe, steal from, assassinate, learn from, teach, mold, bend, twist, ..
and come on now what adventurerer worth his name doesn't want to loot a Dragons horde? Why every one knows that Dragons have teasure beyond calculating, and manythings their in from the long ago days when the Gods walked the land, and dispensed items embued with their abilities with open hands...
Worfan may be after something specific, who says thats all there is to be found there?
And sor some the keeping the Headband from Worfan may be all the reason they need, others mileage may vary, but I am sure plenty of reasons can be found to join one party or another, both headed to
Dagron Horde # 3
( Water Hole #3 (http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/waterhole3.php) -Look it up and I'd laugh aloud but this high minded thread could disentigrate into that with out much trouble knowing this group...)
I guess that would work. Everyone would have their different reason for going along.

Powell selfish? Come on. He's just peeved about losing the fullness of his divinity. He's an angry former god, but he was Holy, and he would find killing Worfan enjoyable. Of course, that was when he could obliterate him at will. Now, he's got reservations about going up against something of Worfan's power. But he's still altruistic. Like you said, Shal, there are shades of grey, but Powell has only gone completely white once. Generally, however, he leans towards the white, his taint being his desire for regained godhood/frustration from losing it. His complex is not a "limiltless power" ideal, so much as it is him trying to regain his identity.
His identity or his divinity?
What if some evil being/deity told him of a way he could once again be divine... though it would lead him down an evil/dark/not-good path.
King Arthur the Great
19-08-2006, 23:58
Aaaahhhh! The paradox! Actually, it's sorta both. His identity is, essentially, being a good god. So he probably wouldn't take the offer. But his desire definitely leans more towards his identity. No deity wants to lose that status, but its because it makes them lose a fundamental facet of who they are. I guess it's kinda like being transfomred from a human into a rabbit, and thus losing your identity of what you are.
I would say that if he follows that he would be considered good (i.e. not bad/evil) even if not altruistic.
King Arthur the Great
20-08-2006, 01:20
He wants his identity. To quote one of my past English teachers, he's sorta like Hamlet. Seeking his identity, trying to perform good, and right wrongs, yadda yadda yadda. Basically, he has a very deep and very forceful drive to reclaim his identity, his full-ness, his completeness. So yes, he is somewhat selfish. But he will go out of his way to assist another, but he has a desire to regain his deity-hood. It's like Dr. Octavius/Dr. Octopus in Spider-man 2. His goal, his dream is create a fusion reaction, something that could be used for the benefit of the world. He is, at heart, a good person, but one whose sense of logic has been warped, in this instance, by the mechanical arms. Powell's goal is to become what he was once, and he will help others, but he sees things defferently for the loss of his divinity, most notably, he's really angry with his dad for doing this to him. Even if it is for his own good.
"But dad..."
"No 'buts' son!"
But once again I must ask... how much more does he want his prior identity over being divine and having a different identity (still technically him... as you are what you are)?
If he were granted divinity but not his former identity, would he refuse it and wait for an indefinite amount of time until he could regain his former identity?

Probably. He wants to be who he was.
About Sebastian now. I have been wondering. If he were told by an angel, or a fallen god, that the being he worships is a short-sighted jackass that seeks to only maintain his absolute power, would he still worship that deity with the same fervor? Or would he try to cut down said angel/fallen god?
Good question... especially because I haven't quite decided on his views on religion and his fervor in his beliefs.
I am thinking that he believes in the Christian notion of God and the angels. And because he is a knight, probably more so than many others, but at the same time he isn't on some holy grail quest.
(Actual religion can be tricky in character RPs as many characters can and often do have their own gods. When Christianity says there is only one true god (well three... one... three.... f' it), it kind of conflicts.)
So anyway, if he claimed to be a fallen deity, Sebastian might deny his claim and accuse him of blasphemy. However, if he claimed to be an angel and said God was an ass, Sebastian might think he to be a fallen angel.
Push comes to shove, Sebastian would probably believe his previous understanding and contacts with Angels over a random one who is attempting to turn his world upside down.
However, I am still dwelling on this matter and things are subject to change. (I just created Sebastian and don't know much about him yet myself :p)
Any other questions, I would be happy to answer (helps me flush out/think about a few things)?

Same here. Your questions haven't really flushed out how Powell will act, but at least its made it far easier to describe why. Additionally, I saw Snakes on a Plane right before writing this, so I had some time to not think, and thus think. Good movies can do that. Anyways, Powell is like this: a noble soul, resentful of his belittlement, believes himself betrayed by his own father, but good-hearted, even if he is narrow-minded on the subject of himself. He has compassion, and a large measure of goodness, but a sense of honor, one which he feels has been mud-slung by his own parents. Think Ivanhoe. He is Disinherited. Hope that clears things up for you all. My thanks to DMG for helping me clarify this small matter. If I think of anything else to ask, I shall.

Nice long write up (though I haven't read all of it yet).
Old gal = Tanara? :p
Anyone think of a reason why Sebastian would leave the inn and follow or bump into his future party?
He sees TGW's character acting ninja'ish and decides to follow as ninja = bad?
Also in case I didn't mention it, Hatusri's clothing is a pale grey in colour.

Hmmm... I think I am going to have his reasons be twofold. The first, he senses something strange/dark near (and thinks it may be your character, though in actuality it could be the lich). The second, he sees the roguish looking character (TGW's) and thinks something might be up.
He notices both have interest in the ladies and of course... as a good knight he must protect them.

Once Powell reclaims his divinity, the first thing he does is obliterate mini-malls, and regular malls. And other establishments that don't lay out their merchandise in a nice, orderly manner. One should spend as little time as possible in a store. I am busy working out an appropriate formula that limits the time spent in any store based entirely on square footage and amount of merchandise.
However, until then, Powell will stand stoicly by as he watches women pile itme after item into baskets designed to hold approximately one tenth of a percentage of their current content.

A knight does not flee any foe... not even the dreaded SALE sign in the window.
Shopping with women, what terror is there in that(unless you hold the purse strings of course)?

Ho hum... seems like someone hasn't suffered through that experience yet.
Damn, you beat me to posting... now I will have to do something different. (That'll teach me to procrastinate)
DMG, it could be Hatusri's 'black' half that Seb is sensing as while not evil in the classical sense, he's not exactly the nicest fellow around(understatement) and would most certainly count as wicked and immoral.
I know.
I was leaving it open to be Hatsuri or the Lich or both...
"There is also an armoured man who appears to be listening to us speak, perhaps he may join rather than strain his ears to catch our words."
Hey, I have no problem with you knowing that Sebastian is a knight so long as you have a good reason for knowing. It seems a bit odd that he just knows... I mean, Sebastian is a professional after all, he is having a serious conversation, and he is dressed in a full cloak (which makes it so it doesn't appear he has armor on and their is no noise from it).
The reasoning is twofold. First of all, a knight who wears full armour(based on the pic Seb is wearing) when in combat would have little use for, or need to develop the ability to mask his face(as it is already covered and thus effectively masked). I also figured that he would not be wearing full plate as it'd be heavy even for those who've worn it for years.
Second, Hatusri is highly trained in many martial arts and in many of them, a key skill is being able to read and predict what an opponent would do in any given situation, and even what they're thinking to a mild extent, simply from the minute changes in position, posture and expression.
Going off those two factors it would likely be relatively easy to infer with a great deal of accuracy if someone where eavesdropping.

I don't get what you are saying here. By this logic, you would think he isn't a knight as his face is somewhat shrouded (and as you said, knights wouldn't need that).
I also figured that he would not be wearing full plate as it'd be heavy even for those who've worn it for years.
This is no ordinary piece of armor.

Again, as I have stated, Sebastian is a pro at this. He is twice Hatusri's age and thus twice the training. He would be pretty bad at staying unknown if the first person who saw him noticed that he was a knight and listening in after ten seconds of observation.
(And you can't see his expression... he is facing away from you and cloaked)
All I ask is that you A) make a sensible reason for him knowing (even if it is that he can read minds) and B) put those reasons in your post so it doesn't seem like it just popped into your brain.
Ah, we appear to have a miscommunication. I was under the impression you were protesting the part about Hatusri noticing him eavesdropping, while you objected to him knowing he was a knight. I never called Seb a knight.

I am objecting to both. You gave no reason as to why you knew he was eavesdropping or that he was armored.
In your narration you called him a knight, not that I have a problem with that... but you did call him an armored fellow.

DMG, a few problems. Both Tian AND Nari are in the rafters; the Black Panther certainly was no closer to the ground than Sebastian's face all through the little spar. Thus, Sebastian could not bowl Tian over even if he wished to (I'm assuming he can't exactly fly like Tian can), since Tian is up in the air and Sebastian is on the ground. Moreover, if he's holding up his cloak to Nari, well, it's kinda a far distance for the Kitsune to reach out for it. :p
EDIT: And another thought. Nari's kimono is undone; if Sebastian really is 'between' the combatants......I think he may have just saw a bit more than he bargained for. :p

My mistake, I thought that he was on the ground.
For the rest... :D
Armour, beside that of chain, and especially the heavily embossed type Seb is wearing in the given pic is conspicious, even when covered in a cloak or other garment as it increases torso size out of proportion to the rest of the body. Also as the legs/arms would be bulky and make moving in a crowded area more difficult, I figured that they would be absent/stored in his room while the chest peice would be worn for protection just in case.
I was basing the eavesdropping on visual/physical cues that are something a knight would not learn how to conceal(save under special circumstances) and he read it off Seb's face.

*zoinks*
I already said that his special cloak made it appear as though he wasn't wearing any armor (and no noise from it).
He isn't a knight of King Arthur or something. He travels like everyone else's characters and relies on being able to hide his identity through his cloak, tongue, and the way he carries himself. He isn't dumb enough to speak perfectly and carry himself nobley when attempting to conceal himself.
Furthermore, I don't think you can tell me how my knight would act or what he would know. And on top of that, I have already stated that he was facing away from you and you couldn't see his face.

Would you mind pointing me to the part where you mention the cloak's abilities?
Never imply he was a KA type knight.
I did not intent to do so. I was going on basic human physiology and I couldn't find anywhere in your posts that mentioned he was facing away from Hatusri. Also he did gasp, and was 'distracted'(as he was pretending to pay attention to the conversation) which would imply something was amiss/he was doing something that required concentration. Ie: Eavesdropping.

Well, he walked past them to talk to the caretaker... doesn't really make sense to turn around and stare.

It doesn't matter anymore to me, but the way he went about it and how he kept up his argument after I told him what was wrong about it...
Btw, how high are these rafters of yours? I was thinking of this being a small stable on the side of the inn with a low roof and rafter no more than ten feet or so. I wasn't thinking barn style twenty plus foot rafters.

......good question. I have no idea. After all, this world belongs to the old girl, not me.
Can Tian jump 20 plus feet? Well, yes, he can. Was he actually falling down and jumping 20 plus feet throughout the battle? I'm going to leave that one to Shal.
OKAY - GM Stepping in here - #1 Theao, you might as a courtesy wish to edit in some additional commentz about how your character discerned that Sebastain was a knight OR simply remove the term Knight from your post and simply abel him an heavily armored warrior whos cloak seemed to have some unusual properties.
No DMG - When I read your posts about Sebastain eavesdroping - to me it came across as rather poorly done on his part, it 'felt' like he was so concerned over sussing out who was giving off the emanations he sensed that he, despite occassional interjections, wasn't paying attention to the conversation between he and the stable hand in a rather obvious fashion.
It seemed clear to me what with the one question he asked the stable hand specifically - sorry I own horses and thats not a qustion any horse owner/ experienced rider would ask - but I well know that most people haven't any idea about what to say about horses and so I tried to discount it and looked at other things and the impression of active , and there fore kinda noticeable eaves dropping still came through.
About the stables,
I said in my post that the stables was close to the inn, I never said that it was attached to the inn. Quality inns in later times tried to have the smell and noise of a stables away from where they housed their patrons - sanitation and the sheer fact that a stables takes up a goodly amount of space both contributed to this within cities, where land can be a premium ledt to this seperatoin. And in technecality the stables isn't owned by the inn, but rents stalls to the inns patrons at reduced rattes to make sure they have a regular 'custome'
two - and again this is 'insider knowledge' - stables have high ceilings. Even an averaged size horse of some 15 hands, when rearing, it's head rises to ten feet. Now my utter apologies I don't think I ever gave Black Fangs height. He's fully 21 hands at the withers, and weighs in at over a ton. So stalls for horses ( or helcorns ) of that bulk are going to be large. If you are european you are most likely most aquainted with 'slip' type stalls - narrow, doorless/ open front. small stalls (http://www.picturesofengland.com/pictures/500/The_Royal_Mews_1102972445.jpg) meant for horses that get extensive daily exercise or spends most of the day turned out to pasture. The horses are tied in the stall, where as in a box stall the horse is freee to move about. Slip stall are about 6 ft by 8 ft, where your average box stall is at least 12x12, and often 12x 16 Box stalls (http://www.whitehorsehill.com/images/three%20stalls%20early.jpg) are more common in the US, but are what are needed as stalls for mounts like him. ( Horses can't lay down to sleep in standing/ slip stalls - far too narrow )
The stall Black Fang is in is probably about 16x20 with high walls all around and a solid sliding

I never said he (or anyone else) couldn't figure out that Sebastian was a knight, armored, or listening... I just objected to the way he did it. There was no explanation of how... he just knew.
As for the stables, my fault, I had the wrong impression of them. Let's just say that Sebastian attempted to throw his cloak up to her as she stood on a beam.
Alright, editted to armoured man. Didn't think the use of the term Knight would cause such problems, though it could be simply used as a 'universal' standard for heavily armoured warriors with horses rather than a specific type term, and that's how it was done in my mind.
I didn't realize that was the primary problem, and I'd intended it as simply reference term. Apologies for any confusion.
*sigh*
My problem wasn't and still isn't the fact that you used Knight in part of the narration.
Then could you clarify what your problem is?
Then could you clarify what your problem is?
I belive I have said it numerous times now. The fact that in discerning that he was armored and listening all you basically said was, "Hatursi observes people... the man was armored and listening in." Give me some reasons...
The reasoning he's able to tell is he's among the top martial artists of a family that prides itself on martial skills. An important part of MAs is reading an opponent.
Also he's making an assumption based on what he sees rather than a definitive statement of fact, as he uses Appears To Be rather than Is.

Theao, I think what DMG wants is more DETAIL. As in, Hatsuri noticed that Sebastian was wearing armour and was eavesdropping.......what I think DMG wants, is what did Hatsuri see EXACTLY that made him sure that Sebastian was listening in. Like, was Sebastian's acting so poor that Hatsuri picked up on it immediately (like Tian did), or was it simply that Hatsuri is extremely sensitive to body language? Also, take into account the cloak that Sebastian is wearing; it is magically enchanted to make the knight look like a commoner even with the armour on, in this case, maybe when he puts on the cloak, he doesn't look as bulky as one would expect a knight in armour to be? So you'll have to say that something else gave Sebastian away to Hatsuri's eyes. Something like, oh I dunno, Sebastian being so heavy with his armour on that the tread of his feet feels like an earthquake to Hatsuri, something his cloak CANNOT hide? :p
Oh, and just to pin some things with you first before we start making any mistakes, Theao. The Sparrowhawk Arts is a tribal swordplay that the Tribesmen guard the secrets to jealously; they teach it to no outsider, so Hatsuri will NOT have learned it. Also, there may be other martial arts out there which focuses on leaps, jumps, and other assorted acrobatic moves, thus being 'similar' to the Sparrowhawk Arts; however, the Arts of the Plains is unique in that in no other martial arts can its practitioners achieve the amazing physical feats that the Tribesmen can, specifically the speed, reflexes, agility and the 20+ feet leaping capability. Thirdly, Tian is considered a master at his art, and thus he moves so fast, Hatsuri is not likely going to be able to follow everything the Black Panther does; thus, it is not likely Hatsuri will be able to learn the Sparrowhawk Arts by 'observation' alone, especially considering the Arts emphasise inner cultivation of 'innate energy' as well as physical training, a concept alien to most other martial arts and the reason for the Tribesmen's physical feats. Finally, I've tied down with Shal that of all the people in the stables, Tian's skill with the blade is second only to Orome; thus Theao, it matters not if Hatsuri goes 'black', the Black Panther would still own his ass either way if the boy decides to try and fight him.
Well, he's already owned Sebastian anyway.......sorry DMG, Theao. That's how it is. :p
Thanks for explaining it better than I. (I just had practice and am extremely tired)
As I said at the beginning, Sebastian will probably be owned by a lot of people... :p
Ah. It's more along the lines of sensitivity/experiance, rather than a deficiancy on Seb's part.
I'm almost postive I never said he knew Sparrowhawk style. He knows of it, but doesn't know it. Actually I'll have to disagree about speed, leaps and acrobatics being totally unique to the Plains style. The blending of those may be unique, but they are not.
I do not doubt his speed, but Hatursi is also exceptionally fast as he is ranked a master in multiple martial arts and skilled in countless others.
The issue with the 'innate energy' is that it is, as far as I can tell, the same thing as Chi/Qi/Ki all of which is a portion(intergral to some) of many martial arts and can be used to preform feats otherwise difficult/impossible to do.
Since Hatursi is weaker with a blade than unarmed, that's not surprising. He is skilled with a sword but doesn't carry or use one in normal situations. Being a master with a blade is not a guarantee that you'll win against someone skilled in other arts, be they weapon or unarmed.
Concerning 'black Hatusri'. He's no more skilled than 'white Hatusri', just more vicious, ruthless and lethal. Black doesn't mind killing, crippling and other similar acts, while White will avoid combat if possible and will go for the knockout/submission rather than anything permenant or seriously injuring.
Lastly it's Hatusri, rather than Hatsuri.
Being a master with a blade is not a guarantee that you'll win against someone skilled in other arts, be they weapon or unarmed.
Someone who is exceptionally skill with a blade fighting against someone who is unarmed is as close to a guarantee as you can get.
Lastly it's Hatusri, rather than Hatsuri.
Well, you know what they say about your name being miswritten a lot (well actually nobody has said it, but I am because I think it is right). It gets mispronounced in our minds because we see it as something else... typically, we make it flow better.
Example:
Kalzog was originally Kalozg, but after being miswritten numerous times, it was changed because it flows better.
Someone who is exceptionally skill with a blade fighting against someone who is unarmed is as close to a guarantee as you can get.
Depends on they type of blade and the relative speed. For example: A wakizashi, kodachi, shortsword is best against someone unarmed, while a nodachi, odachi or zanbato would be worst against an unarmed, while tanto/knives and long swords/katana come down to speed.
Well, you know what they say about your name being miswritten a lot (well actually nobody has said it, but I am because I think it is right). It gets mispronounced in our minds because we see it as something else... typically, we make it flow better.
I'll put it to vote, Hatusri or Hatsuri?
Also Tan, where are the people in the stables relative to the demons?
Okay every one here is something for all of us to chow down on. There are ten of them.
Three of them are adept level Illu'varr warrior mages- the assassins of the Empire. They are tough, skilled, magically armored, and very very dangerous
Two of them are winged Fire demons - they have flaming swords with cruel jagged edges. They are immensely strong and as fast as any human. They can fly, or leap, and hover in mid air. They can use their feet claws for disemboweling, and their shrieks are fearsome, partially deafening those nearby. Claws on hands and fee may be poisonous.
The next two are bone demons - edged weapons don't do tons of damage, you more have to try and bash them into peices. There is a good chance they will break your weapons if you make a solid hit- the blade becomes trapped in their bones and snapped. If you hit them with unarmed /martial arts attacks they can do the same to your hands/ arms/ feet / legs and break your bones. Not as strong as Fire demons, they are faster and very agile.
The last three are demons in scorpion form - inhumanly fast, they are excellent climbers, and falls don't really hurt them. Their armor is VERY strong and deflects blows easily. They use their pincers - which can peirce armor - and their poisonous sting. Their movements are jerky, and look clumsy but are not.
Have fun gang....
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, and no body killing all of them with a wave of their sword - these are tough, nasty opponests who will give all of you a memborable fight.
I'm going to let you all place yourselves. Tell me which demon or other labeled structure you character is closest too and I will add you in.
Other wise just in your description take as many words as you need to describe where you are.
Orome is the dark blue and white square on the ground
Nari is the light blue and white square up on the rafters.
I like Hatsuri better, Theao
I like Hatsuri better, Theao
Me too.
Sebastian is right next to (below) Nari.
Okay I'll put him in in green - if I can get my program to be accomodating, it's just gone wierd on me...sigh...

What program??
Then Hatsuri it will become.
He's likely somewhere near Orome's as they were talking till just shortly before the demons appeared. Two questions, are the Scorps like regular scorpions, save for the noted differences(at least in terms of reach movement and flexibility)
Also did Scorp 4 break part of the stables as it materialize over two stalls.
They are definitely "larger than mansize" and yes the walls came tumbling down, figure they weigh about a ton each...
They are definitely "larger than mansize" and yes the walls came tumbling down, figure they weigh about a ton each...
So are they're tails prehensile?
Also what is the joint strength(claws, legs and tail)?
Well, this is getting involved. I have a question for Hansia. If Worfan is hit by a blast of Holy Magic, will he disintegrate, spontaneously combust, or just get a really nasty burn without the aforesaid momentary enflame-ment?
The nasty burns most likely. Worfan is an epic level character and thus would not disintegrate from merely one blast of holy magic. If you manage to damage him enough with the use of multiple holy magic blasts/strikes his body will eventually disintegrate and come back into existence in about three days thanks to his phylactery that contains his soul.
So we must destroy his phylactery!

Tian would be in the same place as Nari, I suppose, considering he just leapt to her side.
Okay, Theao. I never said the 'speed, leaps and acrobatics' of the Sparrowhawk Arts were unique, I stated that the extent at which the Tribesmen are capable of performing such feats are. To put it in visual detail, in this world, the Sparrowhawk Arts are to all other acrobatic martial arts, as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is to capoeira. It's on an entirely different level from the rest; and that is why in this world, there are few other martial disciplines that can stand up to the utter skill of a master Sparrowhawk practitioner.
And Hiragana may be a master in multiple martial disciplines and skilled in countless others, but let's put things in perspective here. Sure the kid may be a master in multiple arts, but the Black Panther on the other hand had been travelling the western lands for six years, defeating the masters of many disciplines from all of these lands. And that is including the martial artists of Nihongo and the assassins of Alamut; the two lands on this continent most famed for their martial arts, but save for Orome, each and every one of them has been trumped by the swordmaster from the Evergrass Plains, using just the one swordplay that originated from the land of his birth. Personally, I'd say those are far better credentials than what Hatsuri has; being a master of multiple martial arts doesn't count for much if you're still not better than the other guy. As it is right now though, I think this point is moot; I don't think Tian and Hatsuri are going to get into a scrap anytime soon, but I'm just stating all this, lest you get any ideas in your head.
Okay, now that's settled......
Shal, you said some of these demons are 'as fast as any human', or 'inhumanly fast'. I'm just wondering; what is your definition of 'humanly fast'? As in, faster than your average untrained human, or faster even than the fastest guy in our party right now, which would be Tian?
Right now, my assumption is that Tian can still take the mickey out of the flying or the bone demons with just a bit of effort; not all of them by himself, of course, but with some effort he should be able to take them out one at a time. Of course, I haven't yet decided how he would do against the warrior mages or the giant scorpions; as it is, it's rather hard to figure out how well a particular character would do against a particular demon type for this RP; a problem we did not have in SW. All I can say for certain is that the demons won't be scoring a hit on the Black Panther anytime soon; whether he himself can score on them, now that's something I have no idea.
Any tips or hints for this game, old girl?
The Gothic Underworld

Okay, old girl, I'm sorry about this. But, I'm going to take some liberties of my own now, since I don't know when is the next time I can get to post again tomorrow. Just pull out a few plot twists to counter anything that I might have uberwanked, if you so wish.
You know I almost managed to get home quick enough to read your posts in a timely manner... LOL...and if you've uberwanked, I'll just have them put themselves back together...
And given the stats and abilities of the Bone demons, the assassins, and the scorpions, yes they can hit your character.
Even a lesser fighter can score hits on a better one, they may just not be severely injuring hits, and not many hits but those blows that make contact will still be there.
Okay one let me give you a little bit about me to establish my chops on knowing what I am doing, and please understand it is not meant as any sort of boast.
1) though it doesn't matter much - I am a RL table top, pencil & paper with many sided dice GM /Role Player for nearly 30 years now and I run and play in multiple systems, several comepletely home grown. Everything from the original D&D to Gurps to Traveler to Warhammer to Cthullu to Bureau 13 to Chivalary and Sorcery to...and the list goes on.
2) and this does count for this - I've been an Society for Creative Anachronism member for also that long. I can't fight any more but when I could, I fought both light and heavy - and while I an not an expert I do have the basics down pretty solidly.
3) I lived and trained in a dojo for several years.
fast as any human- take your average experienced warrior as the basis for this
inhumanly fast - faster than you Tain
The reason I am giving general descriptions of their speed, agility, strength etc is to allow you, the players to have the fun in writing this.
How you percieve your character combating these creatures- how he susceeds or fails ( and failure is not necessarily death - you could have fate intervein and have part of the ceiling collapse upon your character and him groggily coming to to find that a huge splinter from a collapseing beam is actually what has killed the demon.
Or two characters could co-operate - inadvertantly or deliberately- to take down one - Joint posts are fun to write and two characters working together not only builds team unity but is a very likely thing to happen especially with the large scorpion demons.
So we must destroy his phylactery!
Trust me DMG, It is not that simple to just to destroy it. The phylactery is not on Worfan for one and two if you tried to get to it. You would have to leave the continent we are on and set sail/teleport to Kirator. You would then have to some how get pasted the huge undead army that guards Worfan's fortress. You would then have to storm it and somehow find the Gate/Portal that leads to Worfan's private plane of existence. (Created via multiple use of the Genesis spell.)
In there you will find to female vampires that are expert assassins guarding what appears to be a dark temple dedicated to Zalrath. If you beat them both you can enter the temple and must fight four Adamantine Golems that guard the Phylactery. If you destroy them all your prize will be a hoard of treasure and the phylactery hidden as an a golden orb on a stand. It has a sphere of acid surrounding it to protect it from intruders…
Worfan is no fool and he has had 7000 years to prepare his defenses and make more devastating undead creatures and summon even more demons. The fortress is a good guys epic nightmare….
Psssh.... I could do that with two hands tied behind my back and blindfolded.
Wow, You're a braver man than I am...
*Runs screaming in fright from the dark fortress*
As I've never seen the movie, the reference is lost. I disagree on the appearent implication of Sparrowhawk's 'ultimate level' as I there is no 'ultimate' martial art.
Black Panther's been traveling for six years, Hatsuri being traveling and training since he's been thirteen, and doing so under exceptionally ardous conditions. He has defeated masters of many styles, they're family but they don't pull punches, but still masters of the various arts, including those styles of Nihongo and Alamut as well as styles that have long since died out.
I don't disagree about the Swordsmanship of BP, but I do disagree on the assessment that he would win outside of a match of blades or even blade vs various other weapons.
As we're likely to continue disagreeing on relative skill, let's leave it at that.
Also please avoid implying that 'White' Hatsuri is a pervert/peeping tom/ect. As I've mentioned 'White' is polite and civil in attitude and actions so it wouldn't be something he'd do.
I have to agree with Theao's comment about him not being a peeping tomish sort - but I will also say that Nari is a lovely lady that might rivet a relatively inexperienced/ unjaded man's attention - and not in any bad way- he may look in appreaication but it's certainly not in any leering fashion.
While he also may not have had Tain's wide base of experience, he does have a high level of training, and based on my knoweldge of such that also includes dealing with and defeating armed opponents.
They are both far above average in their basic "foundation" skills - every one here is
and Hansia I'd only want to take a united/ experienced in working together very high level party up against that - with a not so small army to throw at you to as distraction -
Hansia I'd only want to take a united/ experienced in working together very high level party up against that - with a not so small army to throw at you to as distraction -
I wonder how the Kingdom of Hansia would like a huge army landing on its shores and heading towards one of its dukedoms? You may end up angering the local Barons, Counts and Even the King himself. You may overpower all of them by force of might but it would be a bloody battle. I would recommend getting High King Azaire's permission to land before marching an army into a place like Kirator.
I was refering to this army to distract...
You would then have to some how get pasted the huge undead army that guards Worfan's fortress.
Some people may love trouble, I much more love distraction...
I was refering to this army to distract...
Some people may love trouble, I much more love distraction...
I know, I was referring to the fact an army has to get there and that would have to be by ship. Your vessels would have to land on Hansia's coast and then a march would have to take place to get there and to engage Worfan's private army in Kirator. You could then sneak in and fight the forces inside the Fortress.
What about magic... or even airships?
Who said any thing about sailing there - mass teleports thank you...:p

Orome is engaging # 2 & #3 - one is a an assassin, the other a bone demon.

It would take a lot of mass teleports to move an army from one continent to another. I wonder who would have that kind of magic on hand? Other than a god or a very pissed off Arch Mage…

Actually it was a grab bag. I reached into the barrel and just sort of pulled them out twelve at a time. Only $1 per grab. Great bargain if you ask me.

Name- Nosam
Alias- The Weaponmaster
Gender- Male
Race- Human
Age- 29
Hair- Blonde
Eyes- Blue
Height- 5'11
Weight- 164lbs
Appearance- Somewhat fair skin. He wears a green cloak over a brown tunic and pants, which cover chainmail. His cloak has multiple smaller weapons in it's many pockets.
Skills- Nosam has earned the alias "Weaponmaster" for good reason. He creates unique weapons for himself, or others for a price. He is good at improvising, using simple objects to destroy his foes. Whether close combat or ranged, he can find a way to kill things using whatever he has at hand. He is skilled in numerous fighting styles.
Weakness- He has no magical abilities whatsoever. He is also weak against magic. He is somewhat antisocial, and accepts no help, thinking he can do things himself.
Weapons- As stated above, his abilites allow him to make almost anything a weapon. At the moment he is carrying Time, his special crafted long sword which he wields with deadly speed and precision, Domine, a mace that crushes foes, and Echoes, arrows that have explosive tips.
History- Nosam has no recollection of his past up to a few years ago. All he knows is that he has always been on the move. He know wanders the land, with little purpose, fighting and killing for pay, or for amusement. Because of his lost memories, he is antisocial, distrusting of people. He is unaffected by the problems and tradgedies of others, focusing on his own goals. He has no allignment, and will fight for however pays more.
Do the Bone Demon's have weapons?
yep, the Bone demons have swords.
The Bone Demons are the most intelligent of the demon group, and will fight very cannily.

In that case, what I wrote was probably poor and wrong... but you can remedy that if you would like.
Breitenburg - bring Nosam in as you like, he'd most welcome
DMG, I don't see anything that needs to be changed, it is very well written - the only thing I could ask is: could you edit out your signature?
I really hate sigs in IC threads, and always ask that people remove them.
I know I'm picky but I also dislike seeing the what I consider a lazy habit of quoteing a preivous post in a new IC one. If you need to take part of the post, say a phrase said to you that is one thing but c&ping the entire thing just bothers me to no end.
I have no problem with it in the OOC thread but in the actual RP thread it just disrupts the flow of the story.

I have a real quick way to get rid of Worfan. Of course, it involves the almost impossible.
Second, Powell raises a huge army of saints and the resting dead to take on the undead army.
Third, he assembles a contingent of his own golems to take on Worfan's golems.
Fourth, he gets a couple of angels for the vampires.
Fifth, he transports the whole thing to Worfan's fortress. The big armies clash.
Sixth, the angels and golems get in, and Powell's teleporting sense alerts him to the location of the gate. They get there and go through.
Seventh, the angels take on the vampire assassins.
Eighth, the golems and Powell bust through to take on Worfan's golems.
Last, Powell adds some NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) to neutralize the acid. Phylactery is his to destroy.
Of course, this is all contingent upon step 1. Regain his deityhodd and apologize to dad. Like I said, one step to make it all but impossible.
I believe if you had a god, that would be all you needed.
Tanara: I plan to use a spell called Meteor Swarm. It will rain large rocks of fire down from the heavens. It may cause damage on the City. Is it okay to use this kind of spell?

Shame on you for ruining such a wedding.
Hey guys, I haven't decided on the exact details yet, but would anyone mind me bringing in another character. What I can tell you thus far is that the character will be evil and most likely join with the lich (maybe even asking for his help).
Shame on you for ruining such a wedding.
What do you expect? Worfan does not care less for the Prince's son's wedding He just wants to test his power on Powell and see who is stronger..

What do you expect of Powell? That he'll hust open up his own transport spell to suck all the meteors in and send them back from whence they came by reverse tracing Worfan's spell? Please, he's not that flashy, under normal conditions. He'd just have them all slam into Worfan. Much cleaner.
Oh, and as to DMG claiming that a god alone could kill Worfan, yes, that is possible.
1) Become a wide, razor wedge of holy energy. Literally decapitate undead army.
2) Track down gate/portal. Override and go through.
3) Hit vampiresses with blasts of sunlight and fire. Impale them as well.
4) get into temple. Magnetize pillars to immobilize the golems.
5) Pull a Jesus, walk across acid pool, without physical contact with acid, and destroy Phylactery. As he exits, destroy the plane with an Armagaeddon Blast.
Just a note, many of the most common types of undead can survive decapitation according to many sources.

Just a note, many of the most common types of undead can survive decapitation according to many sources.
Yeah, but it's the holy energy entering their bodies from their necks that kills 'em. Oh, and not having communication betwixt the head and body helps somewhat.
Yes Hansia, that is a perfectly acceptable spell.
DMG, bringing in a seconde character is just fine.
and a Kitsune/Kami's way of dealing with Worfan?
Simplest of all...imagine him out of existance...
To a kitsune, their illusions are reality. What they make, for them, and for others, is as real as anything found or crafted in nature. Anything that a kitsune builds or transforms, becomes what the kitsune desired. A kitsune can make people, animals, and objects, which can't be distinguished from the real thing.

True. Letting Kami imagine the other characters out of existence would not be fun. But what happens when two beings that can manipulate things by will alone oppose each other.
In analogous terms, what happens when an immovable object is hit by an unstoppable force?
Case in point: the Hulk vs. the Juggernaut.
Other case in point: A Left-wing Radical vs. a right-wing reactionary.
(this is more evidence that the human race is a slef-screwing race that will eventually destroy itself.)
Well, on that last comment, I point one to the Vulcan thought on the matter...have we reached the critical 50 year point yet?

KAtG, I've long since learned that a single motto makes things so much simpler. And what is this simple, yet powerful motto?
"Don't know, don't care, don't give a damned."
:p
Okay, Theao. You want to know why I'm so hung up on the difference in skill between Hiragana and the Black Panther? Here's why:
Maybe I never made it clear to all of you, but Zhao ZheTian's people, the Tribesmen of the Evergrass Plains, aren't your ordinary average human race. How is that so? Let's take a look at their origins.
The ancestors of the Tribesmen were nomads, gypsys that have lived in the Plains since before the nations in this continent ever came into existence. It is a hard life on the Plains. Water is hard to come by, food even more so, and they're not even top of the food chain; that position is reserved for the big cats that also call the Plains their home. And these aren't settlers; these are nomads, and their way of life is to wander endlessly, living off the land as they go, instead of claiming land for themselves and growing crops. The lands of the Plains are fertile, but it harbors many dangers, and the ancestor nomads were never that many to begin with; certainly not near enough to colonize the land like other races have in other lands.
Along the way, the ancestors had to face many dangers from the land. As I have said before, water is scarce; what there is is trapped in underground aquifers, enough to hydrate the endless plains of grass that gives the Evergrass Plains its name, but difficult to bring up to the surface for the consumption of humankind. Animals abound in the Plains, but they are a dangerous lot; from the herds of Aurochs, a buffalo-like animal with a highly unstable temperament, to the poisonous Glass-fanged Cobras, and the venomous fat-tail scorpions, to the packs of wolves, and to the beasts that sit at the top of the food chain; the big cats, which were the undisputed kings of their territory, and fear no evil. The Plains are also a hideout for bandits on the run from the long arm of the law, and these bandits consider the nomads as 'soft' targets, easily attacked and pillaged of all they have for their own purposes. The sun too is an enemy; both by its presence when it beats down unbearable heat upon the land, and by its absence when the night grows so chill a man could die in the night if unprepared. All in all, the odds in this harsh, unforgiving land are very much against the nomads. Yet, because of the politicking and warring of the day, they had no choice, but to make a home in this land.
In order to do so, these nomads had to adapt to the harsh conditions of the Plains, and literally evolve with it. Over many generations, their physiology had developed to be attuned to living in the Plains; their musculature of their bodies evolve for more speed, stamina, toughness, and reflexes. Their bodies have also become incredibly efficient, allowing them to draw maximum nourishment from every scrap of food they can get. Also, the harshness of the living conditions have strengthed the willpower of an entire people; Darwinism had become most evident in the ancestor nomads, with the weak of body and will dying out, as only the strong are left. With all these physiological adaptations, the nomads became slowly attuned to their environment.
Eventually, over generations of micro-evolution in the testbed of the Plainlands, these nomads have become the Tribesmen we see today in this world; their musculature has evolved to the point where, amongst the human races in this world, it most resembles that of the superior configuration of the big cats that rule over the Plains while still remaining fundamentally human. With such advanced physiology, the boundaries of their physical abilities are also thus beyond that of normal humanity; they are able to run like the wind, jump incredible heights, react quickly to the attacks of a predator, and bear great physical strain on their bodies for days at a time.
Their senses have adapted as well, allowing them to observe greater distances in greater detail, hear the slightest whisper of faraway events in the wind, and tell the difference between hundreds of different scents. Thus, their seeming ability to detect a threat almost before it happens, and react accordingly, moving so quickly against said threat to neutralize it.
And in such a harsh environment, the willpower of the nomads have to be great in order to survive in such a landscape; over many generations, the Plains have trained the willpower of the nomads so well, that they have become one of the hardiest peoples around, able to take hardships that would defeat any other man, and able to summon the strength of will to achieve what most would think of as the impossible.
With all of these evolved attributes, all that the nomads needed were the proper skills to utilize their unlimited potential to the best that they can, in order to adapt better to their environment, and survive better against the dangers that the Plains can throw at them. Through the generations, they have learned how to master the temperaments of the Aurochs, allowing them to herd limited numbers of these beasts as a more stable food source; their techniques in hunting with a bow and arrows have developed exponentially as well, as they learned to combine their advanced senses and spatial awareness in shooting further, faster, higher, and more accurately at game. They have learned the ways of the wild horses of the Plains, and how to respect them in order to get these horses to aid them in whatever way they wish; which eventually leads them to master the art of horseback archery, the art of shooting accurately on a moving horse, an essential part of a successful hunt. And eventually, the threat of the big cats and the bandits have prompted the nomads to learn how to defend themselves with whatever means were at hand, making them acquire the skills of close combat.
Eventually, these requirements of survival were what made the nomads into the Tribesmen they are today; the art of the horseback hunt evolved into the Way of the Eagle Eye, and the need to defend one's own people with combat skills eventually evolved into the Way of the Sparrowhawk and Valkyrie. Through the rigours of survival; their willpower has also been cultivated to the point where it is greater than any other human being's, enough for them to use 'innate energy' to an extent that no other human can achieve. Such mastery of their 'innate energy' amplifies their already superhuman physical ability, and the combination of physical and mental evolution has made them about the closest specimens to a being beyond human, while still remaining human.
In retrospect, the Sparrowhawk Arts is not so much a martial discipline in the traditional sense, than it is an extension of generations of evolution that went into making the Tribes what they are today, the nearest example of the perfect warrior that evolution and adaptation can achieve. In a way, one good reason why Orome can defeat Sparrowhawk practitioners, apart from her god-given sword skills, is of her half-Illu'varrian heritage; the physical attributes that she inherits from her demonic blood betters even that of the products of evolution, and even then she has yet to spar with the best-skilled of them all, the Saint of Swords.
As for Tian, he is the best of the latest generation of Tribesmen, the crown jewel of a warrior race, and even at his level, he still has so much untapped potential. Still, the Black Panther is far above ordinary humankind. Hatsuri may be a master of many different arts, and skilled in countless others, but the main thing about these arts are that; they are all the disciplines of a softer, less evolved subset of humankind. While one may spend a lifetime mastering his art, he would still, in the final reckoning, lose out to a Sparrowhawk master; a master in an art that is the embodiment of countless generations of evolution and cultivation. A lifetime of cultivation versus generations of cultivation; go figure the math out.
So, yes Hatsuri may be a master in multiple arts. Yes, he may be exceptionally fast for his kind. Yes, he may be exceptionally skilled and have almost as wide a base of experience as Tian does. But where he loses out is the fact that Tian is of a superior genetic breed, with physical attributes that Hatsuri will never achieve even if he spends three lifetimes involved in nothing but self-cultivation. Hiragana may be a superior warrior compared to his peers, but to Tian, he is just like any other Tribesman will see him; a soft city slicker, only slightly faster and slightly more skilled than your average soft city slicker, slightly more of a challenge, but in the end another inferior pretender to his own skill with a sword. That, incidentally, is why he thinks of Sebastian, a Knight with more than a decade's experience in combat and warfare, as a mere oaf.
Granted, Zhao ZheTian may be arrogant, and have an inflated ego. However, it would be wise for one to take note that behind that ego is actually a fairly decent justification for it.
Sorry, kid. I've tied things down with Shal; Orome is the premier swordswomen of the party, Tian is second only to her, and that's that. You want to make your case, first provide more details on Hatsuri, because as it is, what you've described about him isn't nearly enough to justify his skill level being on par with the Black Panther's, much less Orome.
Alright, first things first.
I do not contest who is the better swordsman. If it came down to a battle with Hatsuri armed with a sword vs Tian armed with a sword, Tian would win hands down. What it appears you are missing are there are other standards than skill with a sword.
In answer to your comments about the 'micro-evolution', that also works in other places and in other ways, for example intensive training over hundreds/thousands of generations in enviroments not entirely condusive to human habitation, ie: Mountains
Same thing with Ki/Chi/Qi, it enables a skilled enough practitioner to perform otherwise impossible feats and can be trained in much the same way over generations. While it may be that few other groups in General can utilize it to an equal/near equal level, the Hiragana extended family isn't a regular family. They've devoted themselves to studying every martial art style and mastering them.
The Hiragana line has likewise spent generations on thier skills rather than solely a lifetime, and Hatsuri is among the best of his generation(and the best in general), nor is he from a city.
As I've said before, in terms of SWORDSMANSHIP, I acknowladge without question the superiority of Tian. Swordsmanship is not the sole standard of martial arts skills however and in many of the other arts Hatsuri would almost certainly overstrip Tian.
That, incidentally, is why he thinks of Sebastian, a Knight with more than a decade's experience in combat and warfare, as a mere oaf.
:(
He may be an oaf... but at least he is thoughtful

Hey, DMG what is the name and character statistics of the new character you want to bring into this Rp? (The evil one)
Hey, DMG what is the name and character statistics of the new character you want to bring into this Rp? (The evil one)
I haven't actually nailed out the details yet... (I may do that today if I get in the mood), but I can tell you the following:
1) It will most likely be a female
2) She will definitely be considered 'evil'
3) She will most likely be a necromancer of some sort (raising the dead and the like as well as using 'black magic' - meaning the stuff others would consider forbidden or evil and not just 'offensive magic')
4) She will definitely be less experienced than your lich and may look to him for help, guidance, and learning.
Interesting, A female necromancer that is not as highly experienced as the 8,000 year old lich. She will probably learn quite a bit if she survives this Rp.

I am planning on it...
I am thinking of having a way in which she would be reanimated if slain; probably something like a soulstone that would need to be destroyed.
I think I am going to start banging out the details... any more questions you have would be great.

Okay, I see what you mean, Theao, and I agree that Hatsuri has the edge in unarmed combat.
But all in all, Tian vs. Hatsuri, both fighting to their best, the Black Panther wins out by the advantage of being the superior breed of humans bred for battle, with attendent physical/innate advantages over Hatsuri's. I'm not going to argue this point any longer.
It's so much simpler to just make a character that you know will get his ass whooped :D
Likewise let's end this before it starts to ruin the Rp as we both have our own preconceptions, bias and and opinions of how things work. If it ever comes down to a fight between the two, we'll see how it turns out then, until that unlikely event happens, why worry and let's get back to pounding the demonics.
See, the above is why I usually stay outa these kinda RPs. At least the stuff I argue about is tangable. I know I screwed that word up...

Much better if everyone has a discussion about their characters at the beginning so that one person didn't talk to the GM about something that the others remain ignorant to.

This is common sense. And for once, it is right on every level. Now, can you guys just post about some demon slaying?
First off please let me say that in my eyes every one here represents a different sort of master / adept level powers in different areas.
Sebastain may not curently be the greatest Knight in the realms but he certainly will be one day - and being a Kinght is different than being a Swords man - his is the power of Chivalry - yes being expert with a knights weapons is part of it but it is also the power of the reputation he has/ will have and in part it is charisma, personal strength of character and holding to the ideals of Knighthood.
His is the power of protection, and could possibly evince itself in an aura that acts as a shield against both physical attacks and arcane ones- for his heart is pure as the old saying goes.
There are fundamental differences between him and Tain / him and Orome - Orome is not a knight and couldn't be, just as Tain could not be.
Hatsuri is our master of the unarmed martial arts, and as I have stated before, he is just as adept in his area as Tain is in his. Again different from Orome and from Tain.
Every one of us has our own areas of power and skill, and that does not take ways from any ones skill or standing.
Please lets not keep going into this.
This is supposed to be fun for every one
So, DMG, you have a badly wounded but still in the fight Bone demon charging back to the fight. ( and two scorpion deoms making their way towards you from behind as they trash the stalls between you and them.
Theao, you are taking on the wounded Flying demon and the largest of the Scorpion demons.
Orome has a Bone demon who is already damanged by Hatsuri's silver chop sticks,
Black Fan is tangling with the last Illu'varr assassin,
and there is a flying demon holding himself in reserve...
and we are all about to get tossed about by the earth quake caused by all those meteors impacing in the relatively small area of the city's grave yard...can we say ouch?

I have a question what is a soul stone suppose to do? Soul stones are different in different games/RPGs.
How did she come across such an item?
and we are all about to get tossed about by the earth quake caused by all those meteors impacing in the relatively small area of the city's grave yard...can we say ouch?
Worfan would not be tossed around by the earthquake he teleported way out of the area to avoid the barrage in the first place.
You are quite correct, Worfan certainly did.

Yep... I will post today hopefully.

I think I will have it contain her soul so that if her physical body is destroyed, the sould reanimates it.... something like that.
I haven't decided how she got it yet, but know she is no pushover so some hard quest or fight would not be out of the question.

Tian can take the last flying demon, but he's injured and rapidly running out of steam. A prolonged battle isn't exactly his cup of tea, he's more used to finishing things fast. So, go or no go?
Tan, Tg.
Grrrrrrrr at the forum going down yesterday for such a long time.
Agreed on the grrrrrrr.
Theao I tried to answer your TG, but now NS is being wonky - so here goes
The scorpions are very fast but with no fluidity - their movments are abrupt, sharp and jerky. Their armor is very hard to penetrate, and slick- may blows just slide off them unless the angle of the stike is just right, or you are going for the 'joints' between the plates.
The flying demons when in the air are very agile, much less so on the ground - and remember the one nearest where Hartsuri is headed is maimed, one foot missing, one handd missing and both wings -though he can still leap and use the sword one handed
Remember that demonic blood is acidic - thought his wounds have sealed over.
I would definitely say that he could not avoid the scorpions attacks at this time

In doing so, many of the smaller and medium sized lumps of rock and ice were turned to fast moving dust. The larger bodies were reduced in size, but trapped in the vortex, hurtling towards the lich at very high speeds.
I quoted the same line in the IC thread. Most of the meteors have been turned into dust and sediment. That will mound up and absorb much of the impact.
Powell created a funnel that worked using two things: his innate power directly, and indirectly by using the air. Physical laws alone would cause most of these objects to be whittled away into very small particles. It's the same deal that causes comets, asteroids, and meteoroids to burn up in the atmosphere. Actually holding the rocks to gether would have required a much larger output of energy on Powell's part. Getting the air to move fast enough to do this in the first place requires enough power as it is, but actually directing it around and carrying each individual object would require an output level that, in his current condition, I don't think even Powell could maintain for more than a minute or two.
Additionally, you're talking about various sized rocks that are left hitting in an area that is not a single point. They're coming down randomly, hitting randomly, and are of varying sizes. The interference that will be caused by such impacts is over a billion times more likely to be destructive and constructive, i.e. negating much of the remaining effect. The city will feel it, but not a mega-earthquake that would result in the ground literally moving in waves that can be seen by the human eye. At best, a mag 3 on the Richter scale. Not that impressive, and given Orlando's size, not that destructive, since bigger cities genreally favor sturdier construction.
Sorry Hansia. Worfan won't get any earthquake to destroy the city. He's going to have to try elsewhere to gain an army of the undead.
Erm, KAtG - given what I know about the spell and the interaction of meteors, atmosphere and physics and the size of the area they are impacting. it might be a pretty good jolt tothe city - certainly the p ans s waves won't travel far - they are impact / surface created rather than coming from "with in" but the city will suffer about a 4 and it will disrupt a lot of things.
Maybe not a high death toll but there is going to be noticeable ground waves, tremors and building damage. People will loose their balance, things will fall off shelves, oil lamps be jostled out of holders and crashing to the ground to set things afire, etc.

I accounted for this. Okay, let's say a 3.5-4 on the richter scale. There is still a considerable amount of dust absorbing this impact, and because of the random nature of the impacts, it will cause destructive interference. It just won't be a huge earthquake because (a) the impacts will negat te effects of each othe, and (b) there is a large cushioning effect going on from the dust. The cemetary will have damage, cracked tombstones, shifted graves, but my point was that it will not be a big earthquake. In order for Powell to have funneled the meteors to Worfan's location, he would have had to use very high speeds of air and fast moving power streams, both of which would have reduced all but the large meteors to sediment, and the big rocks would have become small rocks.
Tell me if I'm wrong, since you can't TG me, but I figure if Worfan can summon a swarm of meteors, than Powell should be able to create a vortex-cycle to confine it to an area of Powell's choosing. Going with the energy necessary to divert the course of these high velocity objects, it figures that many of the meteors won't remain intact, and those that do will be much smaller.
Like I said, there will still be an earthquake. But it won't be a 9,8-10.0 earthquake on the Richter scale. Anywhere from 3.0-4.0 seems logical at this point, but Orlando won't be overturned in an Atlantean-type Apocolypse. I'm just working off the energy requirements here, and what would happen not only to the surroundings (the ground and Orlando) but also the system (the meteors, now greatly reduced).
Alright, I've begun work on my new character... but I need a name. Any suggestions?

It sounds right. She's evil, powerful, and hard to kill.
I got it from Sadist/Sadism/Sadistic, albeit changing the "sa" to a "cy" for a more feminine touch. The "riel" finishes that, as my now ex-girlfriend's name was Ariel (like the mermaid from that disney movie) and I'm feeling kind of vengeful. Plus, it normally adds a tone of compassion, but coupled with "cyd" it just sounds to me like a person passionate about causing pain. :D
Interesting, though I think I will continue thinking.
[I know a couple people named Ariel.]

Any particular ethnic naming scheme you want her have?
GU and Theao seem to have used Oriental naming, as well as Tan's Kitsinume character, whereas you have used an English name with Roman roots. I went with the Welsh translation of Paul for Powell (Literal meaning in Welsh: Apostle. Irony for you.) I have a bunch of ideas, so if you got any preference, tell me. 'Twill make it easier for me to assist you.
Probably not Oriental, but it doesn't have to be english (as that was just for a knight... seemed fitting).

Particualr nationality? Or particualr meaning? I can translate names across the good languages (Celtic derivatives, German, Polish) and across some others as well. So if you wnat a certain meaning to be attached, I could help you peg down a name that sounds and means what you want.
Sorry, don't have something that specific in mind.

I was the person to tip Kormanthor off to this thread. That comment was directed towards me, as I received a TG stating the same. Tanara said to advertise, thus I did.
I too dislike the new format that Jolt is using. Oh well, I doubt that they will change it all up fust for a couple of NSers.

How many of the demons are left in the stable, and which kind are left? From what I read, it appears as though two of the mages are taken out, both the flying demons, one bone demon destroyed, another killed, and the scorpions as well. I can't be sure, so Tanara, could you put on the diagram which are dead and which aren't?
Alright, I posted - an update would be great - and I am going to begin serious work on my character now (*needs a name*).

Name: Vira "The Huntress" (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/Vira1.jpg)
Gender: Female
Race: Fallen Human
Age: 1000 (Appears 29)
Hair: Long, Silky Red
Eyes: Brown-Orange (occasionally Black-Red*)
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 125 lbs.
Weapons: Various Swords, Whip, Body

Skills: She can handle a blade quite well as well as utilize the unique properties of a whip. Beyond that she is also quite the martial artist.
Personality: Dominant, Wicked, and Seductive
Pets: Everyone...
Vira, the dark seductress of the night, can only be described as a most striking femme fatale. Deadly, wicked, seductive, and powerful... the Huntress of the dark. She has lived for more than a thousand years, perfecting her skills and powers, raising herself to an unparalleled level amongst the living. Over her long life, extended by deeds of evil, Vira has learned her craft well much to the displeasure and fretfulness of humanity...
It's hard to believe now when one gazes upon the wicked coquette, but Vira was once just a jovial young girl. But that was long ago; memories long forgotten. As a six year old girl, the one who would eventually become known as the Huntress lived pleasantly in a rural village with her mom and dad. However, on one fateful day when the birds hid in their treetop retreats and the black clouds swirled ominously, a drenched figure appeared on the path up to the family's quaint home. An ever cheerful young red-head met the figure on the path, but the stranger was not pleasant and quickly stole the child away to some unknown place. For a year the parents of the young girl waited anxiously for her return, but eventually after many months of waiting at the door, they assumed her dead. For a year the young girl was imprisoned in a dark castle and absorbed the material the strange man told her in his dark and foreboding voice. After a year the parents of the missing girl decided to move on with their lives and return to normality. After a year the young girl had been corrupted by the dark arts of the 'wizard.' Then one day, out of the blue... or rather out of the dark, the girl reappeared in the old-fashioned rustic village. She made her way up to the house she once called home and entered without a knock. The parents were shocked to see their daughter, and though there was something gravely different about her, they still recognized her as their little snookums. However, she had different ideas on her mind then to get reacquainted with her family... dark intentions. As her mother came to hug her, Vira raised her hand slowly and pointed a single finger at the woman - she fell dead instantly as a bolt of black energy hit her in the chest. Her father stared in disbelief as the girl turned towards him and slashed his finger across the air; the man's head was severed cleanly from his torso and fell to the ground... dead.
At the ripe age of seven, Vira had emancipated herself from her family... by burying them six feet under. Corrupted by the dark arts of necromancy and forbidden magic, Vira journeyed out into the world on her own, killing without mercy and raising the dead without regard. For years she wandered the earth, taking pleasure in her evil deeds and receiving more and more learning from the stranger who had taken her years earlier. The man, if you could call him that, who had revealed himself as the Lich King of Amin'rah (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/LichKingofAminrah.jpg). The Lich King recognized her knack for the dark arts and revealed to her all that he knew, - a great much from his thousands of years of wandering and studying the ancient tomes of wizards long passed - which served to make her more powerful and potent in her talents. Her ability to raise and control the dead extended far past the normal realms of necromancy to the point in which the raised undead were completely loyal and she could enhance them in many different ways, making them stronger, more durable, more intelligent, and better soldiers to fill her ranks. She has learned a plethora of curses from the simple to the cruel to the unthinkable, none of which she hesitates to cast on her enemies. Her knowledge of dark and forbidden magic is immeasurable and she wields it without concern or regard, simply flicking her finger and ripping the soul out of a helpless man.
However, one of her most powerful abilities did not even manifest itself until she was in her late twenties. Now a beautiful woman, Vira stood about five foot five and a delicate one twenty five. Her hair was long and silky, dancing feverishly in the wind. Her skin soft and smooth and she had curves in all the right places. Truly a beautiful woman. It was then that her 'newest' ability revealed itself. It happened by accident the first time, but she soon learned to control it and call upon it by will. When she did, her normally brownish-orange eyes would become black and dance with fiery red in a marvelous spectacle that few lived to see. When she honed in on somebody with her eyes and her target met her gaze unsuspectingly (as there is no other change apparent, physical or metaphysical to tip someone off), they would go stone cold rigid and almost immediately be under her complete control... only breakable through her own will. The ability that she called Trance soon became extremely useful, bending people to her will without needing to threaten them with horrible curses and days of undead service once she ripped their soul from them. Now, a simple glance turned them into her slave. Over the years she continued to hone her skill and still to this day is working on perfecting it. Unfortunately, there have been a few who were pure of heart, containing a noble soul, and thus able to defy her spell... but she simply dispatched them with a flick of her finger.
As time passed, Vira was able to discover more and more about the dark arts as well as more about herself. She was granted unnaturally long life by her knowledge of death and darkness, but she was content with her being - she wanted to be immortal. The Huntress once again sought out her master, the Lich King of Amin'rah, and begged of him to tell her the secret of immortality. At this point, the once she called her better at lived a life of many thousand years, but it had taken its toll on his undead body. He lay on his spiritual death bed, weak from everything he had done, though regretting not one drop of the blood he spilled. When his young apprentice, now in her second century of life, came to him asking the secret of immortality he simply laughed saying that it was the one thing that had eluded him over his millennia of travels. The young necromancer did not want to lose her master, the only person she had felt anything for in over a century and a half, and so she ventured out on a quest to find the secret of immortality for not just herself but also the Lich King.
Vira wandered for many years, decades upon decades of searching, all in vain. Eventually, however, she wandered into a cave of mercurial appearance. Once inside, the entrance behind her disappeared into thing air and she had no choice but to venture on. The cave had numerous paths, long and winding, and after a year of exploration she found the only thing that the cave could be hiding. A set of blazing majestical gates that stood alone passed a pit of bubbling lava. An ancient inscription, older than the dawn of time itself, was emblazoned into the metallic entrance: Turn back or face the Guardians of the hidden shrine. Needless to say, the dark lady ignored such a warning and crossed the lava to the entranceway. When she attempted to cross through, the gates glowed hot white and as she touched them with her left hand, it burned violently. Voices appeared from all over, speaking in different tongues and seemingly recanting an oath of some kind. Then a piercing sound and light filled the dark cave. When Vira saw through the intensity, there stood five Angels of the Highest Order in full warrior garb and holding swords of wrath. After a short conversation, the Angels revealed that she had become too much of a threat to humanity and lured her to the cave in order to destroy her once and for all. However, they would not reveal what shrine was hidden behind the ecclesiastical gates. Unfortunately for the Angels, they had underestimated the necromancer with hair of fire. She dispatched the weakest of the five before they knee what was happening by severing his wings and then ripping his soul from his angelic body. The other two turned in horror, staring at her with their bright yellow eyes... a gaze she returned all too willingly. One by one, before they could stop her or look away, all four Angels fell to her powerful eyes and under her trance.
With her four slaves in tail, Vira stepped through the dimmed gates without consequence and crossed into a divine realm. As she stepped between realms, the scene changed from a dark cave with narrow passages and no light to a overwhelmingly large cavern filled with an eerie red light and graced only by a single platform in the middle of a stream... a stream of souls. As she walked down the few stairs that stood between the gates and the platform that stood without base in an endless pit surrounded by a flowing river of souls, crying out for numerous reasons, Vira felt a most powerful presence. The four angels kneeled on one knee as Vira descended the steps and gazed upon a small stone pedestal on which purple and black energy seemed to dance. At the center was a single gemstone shaped like a prism that glowed with purple and black energy. The closer her hand got, the more intense the light became until eventually she was close enough that the energy connected with her body and there was a bond of dark energy between her and the magical stone. And then suddenly, the energy became so intense that it overcame her body and in a swarm of energy... she became one with the stone. The Huntress locked the stone to a necklace around her neck and for the first time she saw a circular inscription on the pedestal: The wielder of the Deathstone shall be granted immortal life. On the third day you shall be reborn the same as you were at demise. Bind their souls to the stone and ever faithful they shall be. After reading the ominous writing, she walked towards the enslaved angels, the Deathstone about her neck. More beautiful than ever, the dark lady strode passed her servants, but stopped abruptly as she felt the gemstone grow in energy. After testing the powers of it for several moments, alone in the Chamber of Souls with nobody but her fallen angels, she learned of its third ability. The Deathstone granted her immortal life as well as resurrected her if ever the day should come where she was bested, but beyond that it also had the ability to bind the souls she fell to the stone and thus her own. With the new found ability in mind, she moved swiftly to her angels and forever trapped their souls in the Deathstone. Now they were bound to her forever without her having to maintain the connection, and now she could morph them as if they were her own creations. In her mind, Vira reshaped the fallen angels, giving their already impressive muscles and talents a boost that pushed them over the edge and into another class of warriors. As they donned fearsome suits of armor and took up their flaming swords, Vira's Doom Guards (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/DoomGuard.jpg) were born...
More powerful than ever and now guarded by her fearless Doom Guards, Vira wandered back into the world with her immortality in hand and the Lich King of Amin'rah on her mind. The Huntress traveled back to the dark castle in which the Lich King called his humble abode, but only horror greeted her as she reached the gates. The Lich King had passed from the undead life to the spiritual realm, though not of 'natural' causes. No indeed. It was all too evident to the necromancer what had happened - a powerful holy being had arrived and with the Lich King weak, had dispatched him to another realm of existence. Furious beyond description, Vira summoned her power and raised a powerful army of undead to scour the land in search of her master's killer. Her legions raked the countryside for years, killing all who dared cross their paths, but to no avail. The beast that had slain the Lich King had disappeared without a trace. Distraught over the loss, Vira spent years in the Dark Castle that once imprisoned her two centuries earlier. She turned it and the lands surrounding it into a kingdom of undead, protected by ranks and ranks of raised ghouls, zombies, and demons. Eventually however, she decided to leave her castle in search of the holy being that had claimed her former master. Removing the Deathstone from her neck, she emplaced powerful incantations on it and the castle, and left the hordes of demons and undead to protect it in her absence...
Centuries of traveling only made her stronger and more determined to find the one responsible, but after nearly eight hundred years she still had found nothing. However, in that time she had picked up a few new tricks and abilities: a demonic sword forged in the halls of death that carried lethal results when it drew blood; a whip forged of demon hide that could raise the dead without draining her stores of energy and rip a soul from its body with its entrapment. She was by no means extremely skilled with the blade, whip, or her martial arts, and though her unholy speed and agility helped, she stuck more to her natural calling of the dark arts. Still to this day as beautiful, wicked, and deadly as ever she wanders the lands in search of a way to commune with her former master and to get revenge on the unknown one...

Sebastain / DMG - you are the teal box with two scorpions bearing down on you. ( sorry they aren't real bright and you are the closest moving thing once they killed the horses in those stalls.
Hatsuri / Theao - the two you were dealing with are basically in their death throws so they aren't labeled any longer

In what way? That she can handle a sword, whip, and do martial arts on top of the rest?
1000 years is a long time to practice :p
Besides, she wouldn't be a match for any of them with a sword and certainly not Hatsuri in martial arts.
However... I have yet to explain what Trance does.
What do you mean by curse(as I can see a reason Hatsuri might decide to join the 'baddies' even thought he's a good guy(even thought he occassionally goes evilish))?

Hehe... I can see the reason too.
Curse: As in to cast a spell of misfortunte (meaning anything from intense stomach pains to bleeding out your eyes everytime you attempt to cast magic) on someone. You know what it is.

So just the out-bound part of curse-work, or the full spectrum?
Also 'Black' would have an additional reason to follow(at least whichever group Vira was part of)

Full spectrum most likely, but she wouldn't have much use for the non forbidden ones.

Vira will definitely be part of the bad group.
She will most likely look to Worfan for teaching/help in the stead of not being able to learn from the Lich King of Amin'rah... (detailed in her bio which will come today or tomorrow hopefully).
Full spectrum most likely, but she wouldn't have much use for the non forbidden ones.
Actually I meant curse removal as 'full spectrum', with out-bound intended to mean just curses without knowing how to remove them.

She knows how to remove some curses... though the ones she cast would be much easier to remove then ones she did not.
However, she would be more than willing to string him along and convince that she could do it...

It'd be likely both, to get rid of the annoying and unknowable(to him) curses, and to get a leg over.

What about the two beautiful women in the good party?
What about the two beautiful women in the good party?
He wouldn't mind going after them either. Black's criteria for chasing skirt is essentially based on looks. What would suit him best would be all three at once(and he's already proposed a threesome with Orome and Kaminari afterall)
Some how I have a feeling that Nari's attentions have been claimed,
and it would take a very exceptional man to divert Oromes attentions from her missing husband to be - and she's not the type to encourage a man or lead some one on in that fashion.
And Sebastian will of course disapprove of such behavior or attempted behavior.
btw, how did Seb's armor get blessed and upgraded? Was it due to Orome?
Black won't care if they're attached or even married, he'll chase them anyways, nor will a knight going 'tut tut' deter him.
I think it was a bit of 'chaos' from the combined magical effects working in mysterious ways.
It is the interactions of an miscast/ uncontrolled spell - one of the dangers of casting while in physcial combat is that when a spell is interfered with unexpected things may happen.

But of course, Hatsuri Black is hopelessly outmatched against the charm of the Tribesman from the plains. The Black Panther may be a rogue, but at least he understands the art of seducing a woman. ;)
Oh, and if Tian had heard the proposal, even he would have thought Hatsuri a crass, vulgar man unworthy of attention, be it from male or female. :p
Tain needs his ego cut down a few notches I think.
and H Black doesn't bother to seduce, it's not worth the time and effort and is still so chancy - so there's no comparission.
Geesh the testosterone around here is getting damn deep....

When you have a limited amount of females wearing a limited amount of clothing like the one you showed us there, old girl, what did you expect? :p

Oh, and if the old girl ever sees the need to have the entire party triapsing back through the Evergrass Plains, I'm thinking that they may run across the Zhao Tribe, from which Tian hails from. If such a scenerio ever happens, I'd be adding Zhao Ming Yue the Moon Tigress, sister of Tian and the youngest of the Zhaos, to the group.
I'll post up her bio if I ever think she'll end up coming in. That's only if the party is going through the Plains though......

Anastrianna's Story
Outside of the Half-Elven City of Diomede in the River Valley there lived a family bearing the name Amakiir. The Amakiir family was known for defending the town from evil-doers. They had also helped stem the evil forces that sought to overrun the nearby cities. The Amakiir family was considered nobility in the local areas, although lesser nobles. They never hesitated to defend their town and its people. This often jeopardized their own lives and they were well liked because of it.
Jason and Valanthe were both clerics for the god Heironeous. They practiced Heironeous’ ways of law and good in their everyday lives and in the service of their deity. Heironeous was pleased with their deeds and blessed them with a son, Jason and five years later, Valanthe bore a female child, Anastrianna.
Jason Jr. was pleased to have a little sister and did his best to teach her all that he learned. This continued as they matured and Anastrianna grew to admire her older brother, Jason. Their parents cultivated their beliefs in their children. Jason Sr and Valanthe shared old stories of their ancestors with the children. Each ancestor was a great defender of the faith and most were either clerics or paladins for Heironeous. The past couple generations were all clerical in profession. These stories inspired Jason and Anastrianna to seek their futures in similar service.
By the time he was 14, Jason had decided the direction his life would take. He became a squire to a Heironeousian Paladin and studied to become one himself. Valanthe seemed concerned at Jason's choice of professions. She expressed her concerns and tried to convince Jason to choose clerical service instead. Jason was confused and questioned his mother about her concerns. Valanthe called her family together and explained her reservations. There was a dark secret, a curse, that she had kept from them, even Jason Sr.
One of their ancestors was a great Heironeousian Paladin who lived almost 600 years ago. Lady Drusilia Nailo was the name of this paladin and she wielded a holy sword forged by her own hands. Drusilia and her comrades had fought evil with a vengeance. They had practically obliterated it from the land by the time Drusilia reached her middle years. Being an only child and never married, Drusilia was thought to be the last of the Nailo family. Drusilia became a symbol of law and good to the people of the land. She was so much of a symbol that the remaining forces of evil decided that this symbol must perish.
The details are sketchy but it's rumored that a wizard arrived at the Nailo Manor with a question about a sword. The outcome of the battle is unsure. As the battle progressed, a deep mist formed around Nailo manor. When the mist lifted, the entire manor had vanished. Barren ground was all that was left in the location of her manor. To this day, the land is still barren. No animals ever tread into the area and nothing grows there, even weeds.
Some say that Drusilia’s faith is what caused the mist and removed her manor from the land. Others say that it was the evil that brought the mist to the manor. It's rumored that the manor was taken, when Lady Nailo died, to remove any trace of her from the land. They say that is why nothing grows on the ground and animals never tread there.
Regardless which, if either, is the truth, there is a curse on any relatives of Lady Nailo. Over the past 600 years, several paladins related to Drusilia have disappeared and never been seen again. Some details are known. The night before the paladin's disappearance, the paladin has a dream known as the dream of the mists. It's a dream where the paladin is attacked in a mist by a monk with a long black saber. The following evening, the paladin and his closest friends disappear
. Lessons have been learned about these disappearances. Some paladins who've had the dream have traveled alone into the forest and protected their friends and families from the call of the mists. Not all paladins are called but nobody has ever returned. Jason tried to assure his parents that he was not afraid of the curse and would be strong if called into the mists. If it was his destiny, then he would accept it in spite of the consequences. He wanted to spend his life as more than a priest. He still wanted to become a paladin. His decision was supported by his parents in spite of their concerns.
Jason continued to teach his little sister all that he could. In spite of their age difference, Anastrianna soaked up the knowledge and skills like a sponge. She learned to use weapons at an early age so that she could help her brother by sparring with him. Again, to the chagrin of her parents, she chose to become a paladin. When she came of age, young Anastrianna became the squire to a new paladin, her brother Jason.
As Jason's squire, Anastrianna and Jason grew closer together. The siblings often devised friendly competitions and Anastrianna found that she quickly surpassed her brother in skill. Her early playtime with swords had made her stronger than Jason. She often chose to allow her brother the victory in their friendly bouts. Anastrianna still had great respect for her more experienced older brother. After time, Anastrianna became a paladin, just like her older brother
Valanthe was very distraught when Anastrianna earned paladin hood. Anastrianna was Valanthe's favorite, as Jason Jr was Jason Sr‘s, and she insisted on trying to protect Anastrianna from her family curse. Valanthe called for aid from an old wizard friend of their family. The wizard was named Qwain. The Nailo family had defended his keep several times from evil raiders.
Valanthe thought that if Anastrianna were sent away, far away, perhaps to another world, that the family curse may not find her. Jason, being older and more experienced would have the best chance of surviving in the mists. Anastrianna reluctantly agreed to fight evil in another world, to please her mother. The evil in her part of the land, after all, was diminished and seemed well controlled. Bringing the faith of Heironeous to another world seemed to be a noble challenge for Anastrianna.
Qwain used his magic to teleport Anastrianna to another world known as Greyhawk. He was familiar with the place and had traveled there often in his life. Anastrianna was told that Qwain would scry regularly to find her for Valanthe. Valanthe wanted to keep in touch with her only daughter
All went well until one day when Anastrianna adventured into an unknown passage. She was immediately gone from that place and found herself in the wilderness. She wandered till she found a city. Inquiring with the local people revealed that she was now outside a city called Waterdeep of some other realm.
When Qwain scried for Anastrianna on Greyhawk, he found nothing. He then searched other planes until he found her. Upon contacting her, they established her new location. Anastrianna told him that she was outside of a large city called Waterdeep. Qwain had heard of Waterdeep and knew that Anastrianna had accidentally entered Faerun Although he only visited once to that realm, there seemed no cause for alarm. Anastrianna chose to venture into the city of Waterdeep.
Later Anastrianna decided to traveled across Faerun with an adventuring group, until one day after arriving at Myth Drannor Anastrianna came across an unbelievable sight. A disembodied skull hovered above a small table. Upon entering the room the skull began to speak. It introduced itself as Muragh, a cleric to the Most High God from long ago. It said it was cursed to this existence and was stolen from a temple almost one hundred years ago. Anastrianna immediately concentrated on the skull, trying to detect evil in the bodiless skull. Finding no evil, they continued conversing. The skull had a keen interest in adventuring and begged to be taken along.
It was over a month since they had entered the tunnels under Myth Drannor. that Anastrianna led the way and held the magical skull of Muragh. When the skull suddenly indicated something magical off the path they went in to find a beautifully adorned temple which held a Golden Suit of Ceremonial Armor from the temple of the Most High God. As they entered a high priestess appeared, and called Anastrianna to the front to thank her for returning the magical skull of Muragh to the Temple.
The high priestess offered Anastrianna a reward of gold for the Skulls safe return. Anastrianna thanked the high priestess for her consideration but declined the reward, stating that knowing that Muragh was again in his proper place was reward enough. The high priestess smiled at Anastrianna's selflessness and motioned for the lesser priestesses to take the gold away. "I insist, then, that you take this," the high priestess motioned her hand and another priestess’ arrived with the suit of armor. "If you foray into the tunnels below, again, you may need this gift from our temple." "May the gods go with you, Anastrianna Amakiir." Then the high priestess turned and left the room.
Anastrianna knew that refusing the gift, after refusing the gold, would be an insult to the high priestess. So She thanked the priestesses and were escorted out of the temple. Anastrianna and Aust teleported to the City of Essembra in Battledale and spent the rest of the day together, making donations to appropriate temples and replenishing their supplies for their next foray into the underground labyrinths. Then they got a room in the tavern for dinner. Afterwards, rather than staying up and reminiscing on their adventures below, Anastrianna turned in early and Aust left to returned to the tavern with Argo.
When Aust and Argo were going to their rooms for the evening, they heard a disturbance in Anastrianna’s room. Opening the door, they found Anastrianna in the midst of some kind of nightmare. Argo made some snide comment, closed the door behind Aust, and continued on to his room. Aust awoke Anastrianna but he could tell that even after she was aware of her surroundings, she was still very afraid.
Aust asked about her nightmare and she said that she'd had the dream of the mists. Seeing the perplexed look on Aust's face led her to explain about the dream of the mists, Lady Nailo, and the curse. By the time she finished, she had calmed down considerably. Aust got up to leave and Anastrianna rushed to him. She took his hand and said that she didn’t want to be alone through the night. Aust said that he could sit with her, if she wanted.
Anastrianna wanted him to hold her. She asked him to make love to her and she kissed him. He pulled away from her, again not wanting to take advantage of her in a state of distress. She explained that tomorrow night she would probably vanish and never be seen again… she may die. She repeated that she didn’t want to die without knowing the pleasure of male companionship. Aust moved to her and kissed her. Then he carried her back to her bed...
In the morning, Aust and Anastrianna told Argo of the impending dilemma. Argo simply smiled and said that he wasn't concerned with facing any mists or anything in them. He agreed to stay and help Anastrianna in her apparent destiny. The following night came and Argo was supposed to be keeping watch. as a thin fog came into the area. Argo awoke at his watch post with thick fog all around. Looking around he found Aust and Anastrianna and woke them. After donning his field plate, the paladin observed the thick fog. "This must be the mists," he said as he noticed the effect of the fog. They could see each other plainly, from head to foot. The ground beneath their feet appeared as thick mist just like all around their small company.
What do we do now?" queried Argo.
"Well, let us continue our journey. I believe we were headed that direction," Aust replied. They walked in the direction they thought Myth Drannor would be. In a few moments they came to a tall stone wall. The wall extended out of sight, into the mist, blocking the way in front of them. They moved to the right and the stone wall seemed to go on endlessly.
"This isn’t even the world that Nailo Manor is on," Anastrianna noted as she put out her hand out to lean against the wall in contemplation. Anastrianna’s hand passed into the wall and she stumbled from the lack of expected support. Aust caught her and steadied his friend.
"Perhaps we’re supposed to go through the wall," Argo noted aloud.
"Perhaps," Aust agreed. "Together, then," he said putting a hand on Anastrianna’s shoulder. "Together," Anastrianna replied uneasily. They stepped into the wall. Then they took another step, and another. Suddenly, the wall was behind them.
Anastrianna reached out and touched the wall with her hand. "Quite solid, now," she noted.
In the distance, a manor house sat on the top of a small hill. The sky was brightly lit but no sun could be seen in the sky.
"Nailo Manor!, may Heironeous preserve us in this our hour of need" Anastrianna said aloud to herself.
Aust, Anastrianna and Argo approached the manor. Nearing the entrance, they looked back to see a group of five people behind them passing through the wall some 200 yards from their exit point. Aust and Anastrianna hid by the pillars of the carriageway to wait and watch as the group gathered and headed toward the manor. The sky grew dark and a thunderstorm erupted from what previously was a cloudless sky. As the five people got closer, Anastrianna recognized one of them. It was Jason, her brother.
After a small reunion of the siblings, the two exchanged introductions under the shelter of another carriage archway to wait and watch as the two groups gathered to enter the manor. The thunderstorm erupted as Jason moved towards a corner where something caught his attention. There was a black saber propped in the corner of the room he had entered. He put his bastard sword in his other hand and picked up the black sword. It was the same sword that he'd seen in his dream. He started to call to his sister but his words stopped abruptly. A voice, evil in its very sound, rang into his head.
"Spawn of the Nailo... Now you are now MINE."
It was the sword, this evil sword, trying to take over his soul. Dropping to one knee, Jason lost the grasp on his bastard sword. The evil rang louder and louder in his mind. Struggling against the sword's will, he grabbed at his head with his shield hand. The evil voice persisted, growing even louder. Jason tried to release the black blade but it stayed firmly clasped in his hand.
The takeover of his body had begun. Fighting the evil, he called for aid but no words left his clenched jaws. He beat his head with his other hand as if to drive the evil out. He heard the clamor of armor around him and the confused voice of his sister. "Jason, Jason what's wrong" she cried. They were the last words that Jason Amakiir heard before the evil destroyed his soul. Because of her brothers death on that day, Anastrianna retured to the temple near Myth Drannor where she became a Paladin of the Most High God, and the only Paladin of Heironeous to return from the Mists.
Me thinks Anastrianna and Sebastian will get along well.
Couple of questions. Who is this 'most high god' as Sebastian would claim his god is the 'most high god' and only god? Also, where did you get those abilities/spells from (DnD or something)?

As would most Paladins ... Yes I did take my abilities / spells from my 3.5 Players Handbook. There is a being that was above all the other gods during the Time of Troubles but I can't remember his name. At that time the 2.0 Core Books were in use.
I am sure that there is many a god out there that absolutely, certainly, positivily, KNOWS that, and of course it goes without saying, HE is the MOST HIGH GOD...

Ah (I've never played any of those things).
