yeah so I had a nice long detailed post all ready.
Then my POS computer decides to freeze....
the ONE time I don't save it in notepad...
anyway, off the the movies. Neira will eventually enter the party lol... lets just pretend she is near the end of the line heh. Will post tomorrow night.
Hrm... must have missed that Al was coming... or i forgot lol... and I am not sure what you mean by that last sentence... although the smiley scares me =)
Will post an entrance when i get home later today.
Your camera, you have.
Your cameraman has gotten on good terms with the "help" at Goldie's. As a result, he's discovered brand new forms of alcoholic (and other) consumption best left to the imagination.
We'll also mention that Goldie is rather indulgent and Vastiva has very liberal drug laws (you can only buy them at pharmacies or registered sellers, need an ID, no one under 17 allowed and you need the blip on your ID stating you've had the education course or signed the National Waiver. Oh, yes, and they can't serve dead or unconcious people).
We'll fold him nicely and slip him under the door of his hotel room when we're done with him.... he'll probably be sleeping this binge off for... well, July. :D
Oh, yes, and they can't serve dead or unconcious people
Yes, we actually needed to pass that law. No, we aren't telling why and the penguins have been paid not to talk.
Movies were a great idea... saw "Mr and Mrs Smith" - would definitely recommend it as an excellent popcorn film
C-G, do tell me we're not working in magicland?

C-G, do tell me we're not working in magicland?
Not magicland. Sharon's monitoring is entirely current/postmodern type tech, and data-dumps to Nasiri Yassassin's office during her treatment were first mentioned by yourself.
Da Mehkaniks! (How it's current/PMT and not magickal...}
Sharon's not sleeping on a floor, and I'd bet it's safe to say she isn't laying there in the nude, either. medical monitoring systems have, over the last thirty years, gone from requiring huge numbers of glued-on patches, to smaller and more compact arrangements. Taken to the logical next step... the room is, further, likely under surveillance in case the patient has a problem or does something remarkably unwise. (her being a "MacGuyver", this is even more probable.) This doesn't imply the ability to "Read her mind", but it does imply the ability to observe/notify when she finally goes "Bonk", and with receptors in the pillow, mattress, etc. the ability to observe brainwave, muscular, and cardio vascular/pulmonary activities for abnormalities.
I was kind of half-in-unconscious mode when I wrote the actual post, but the highlights were that Sharon's under very close observation-particularly in her "Natural" dream-state since her nighmares under sedation were...excessive. this being a top-secret military medical installation, I presumed "Best" for patient-monitoring and analysis, the recovery room being wired up like a sleep-lab's wet-dream, esp. with Vastivan experience in treating Bipolar and other disorders.
The Italicised portion is Sharon's perspective, in her sleeping state, she's still working on her theories, only now she's not burdened by outside inputs, concerns, or inner demons (no sedatives=she can defend herself from her memories.).
So, no, we're not in Magickland, or Startreck-teckland.

As soon as possible.

Um... I don't think Sharon's a TK if she has any abilities that were suppressed by the brain-damage. In fact, I'm rather sure that Cadillac-Gage doesn't have any Telekinetics at all (or pyrokinetics, or other matter-manipulators.) I could be wrong, of course, but I think Sharon's just a very, very, possibly excessively intelligent young woman with some odd strands in her DNA sequences and a rather ugly home life.
Too many Teeps and Teeks, and Cadillac-Gage turns into "The X-Men" without the good writing. Psionics is present, but it's rare enough that it's rare.
She was working on microencapsulation of antimatter, by the way, to make it viable to transport and store...
See the new post... there's mention of Sharon's work.

Anyway, did you get it?
From what it looks like, Sharon's about to be swallowed by the Vastivan Military Industrial Complex-without so much as a burp (or that's their plan, anyway...) Designwerks is funding the project, the movement of troops into the zone of that top-secret base (where she's being 'treated'...) all indicate that Sharon's notes are going to get her into almost as much trouble as her mouth does normally (okay, heap-bad-worse trouble...). I'm not entirely sure how she fits into their plans, unless the notes contained something that struck one of their brightest-boys as being a sign of absolute brilliance-or possibly a hint of deeper insights than had been achieved locally. Francesca obviously knows more about the whole business than Engred will-remember, Engred was studying Structural Geology with a Math minor, Sharon was into the high-end physics and engineering aspects.
Allow me a moment of speculation...
Engred is somewhere near the "Middle" of the running, possibly bottom-end, except that Sharon, who was brought in more or less to mess with Engred's head, turns out to be a brilliant but disturbed individual with almost savant-level gifts in areas considered valuable, and a discovery that's 'significant' the way that the Atom Bomb was significant when it was first invented.
Sharon needs a leash, and Engred fits the bill-now Engred moves up in the rankings (quietly) because she may be useful in controlling/influencing her friend-who happens to be a mad scientist bordering on Evil Genius (Evidence of that latter bit: under sedation, she pretty much admitted to screwing the numbers to annihilate a place that had bad memories for her, rather than just digging a big ditch nearby.) While Sharon's no longer mad due to damage, her mind is still mad, brilliant, but mad.
Engred, on the other hand, is almost pathologically stable. Fran can use both for different purposes, or both together for a greater purpose-same with the Sultan. I suspect Francesca's already doped Engred out-or Nasiri tipped her off after the Mossadiqqah finished the scans-Francesca probably knows about Engred's little 'ability', because the thermal and vid from the airbase incident would be one of the things a jealous woman would examine before meeting her potential rivals... I doubt seriously that Thana didn't tell someone, who told someone, when Engred had her "system shock" right before the airliner go boom. Ditto for the Kadin guarding her.
Fran can get Sharon out of this alive, unharmed, and un-brainwashed, for a price-one that will probably involve Sharon finishing the work she began to "do something" while bored, but probably including some kind of major favour or other from Engred. (I don't know what yet...)
On a side note: I originally intended Engred to be kind of "Fluffy", a minor player with no real importance. Apparently my characters want bigger roles, and they pester me about it while I'm stapling cabinets together at work. With a few name-changes and tweaks, we might be able to turn this into something marketable, you know that?

Go for it - you're too talented not to. If you want co-habitors in your spotlight, that works too.
Findhorn

I'd been thinking the same (not the cohabitation bit). Editors seem to be growing tired of sloshing around in emerald-green groves with wise elves and clever town-bred apprentice witches. So the S in SF is on the rise again, and Sharon's a terrific character to catch the wave with.
You've also got a winner in Engred. The little of her backstory you've written suggests there's a good coming-of-age tale there; the one where a young person finds herself possessed of abilities that she must learn to control/apply/develop ... the setting is far enough away from the currently trendy fantasy scenes to be interesting, and fictional enough not to restrict you.
So if you throw them into Vastiva's nation, alien to both of them and fascinatingly detailed, then tangle them up with plots within plots -- well, move over, JKR.
If you do get to the stage of actually writing it all, though, get your agent to chat to Max (copyright, intellectual property, public domain, all that stuff).

BTW-- Francesca's a villain? Jealousy a motive? I dunno ... villains can be nice, sure, but she sounds too independent, too sure of her own abilities, for jealousy to be a major driver. Did she play a role in another thread that would flesh this out?

It would be nigh impossible to place Francesca direclty in a "hero/villian" pigeonhole. However, prior to the renewal of the Harem, she did hold the most sway over the Sultan (early scene in the airplane), though the scales had not quite leveled in her favor yet.

"Don't tell, it's a secret, they'll think you're crazy." is why Cadillac-Gage isn't known for psi ability.
Engred's little 'spell' ain't gonna last long (thankfully), it's just that with this many and no 'insulating' qualities like the Harem has, she's having to relearn tuning it out in a hurry. She's only seeing potentials right now. Nothing definite, but a lot of high-probability badstuff-like the result of a successful Coup attempt would generate.

Good god, what if they breed?
Carcajou Atrox are badger-family, so I doubt they'd be able to breed with Ursine species (Bears). In a fight? Dunno... In the Real World, wolverines have been known to run grizzlies off and seriously maul black-bears (and we're talking about an animal that averages between 30 and 60 pounds here against something between 250 and 1000 pounds.) Carcajou Atrox ("The Atrocious Wolverine") averages upward of 250 pounds as an adult, with the same proportions and temperament as their smaller N. American cousins. The fight woudl probably be mind-bending violent whatever the outcome.
I'm working on what JbT is going to pull off next...(no, really, I am!) I've got to do a patch of research first... details, the devil is always in the details...

We won't mention this idea to the same nutjob who brought in the polar bears in the first place.... though long term, I'd have to give the advantage to the bears, as they work in packs these days. And eat APCs. Well, no, they don't eat them, they just bend them open to get at the chewy centers...
It would be an interesting combat, yes sir ee!

When I'm back, have to decide whether to continue on the same thread or make a new one in order to keep editorial control (the thread maker gets to decide to delete garbage comments, not the computer owner. And as that particular "version" is under debate...). Am not about to "let it die off".
