"Er, ah, nothing!" insisted James, "nothing at all!"
"Really? 'cause I coulda sworn I heard something about a bachelor party," she pressed slyly.
"A bachelor party? Why, I've never heard anything so absolutely ludicrous in my entire life! Even if they - emphasis on the third person - were planning one, I'd never dream of attending. I am infinitely loyal to you, love of my life!"
"You big fibber. I can always tell when you're lying too, because you go into that legalistic talk. Don't you worry, James Callahan - I want you to go: after all, didn't you miss Jeff's on my account?"
"Well, considering the hangover I had after Ic's, I was rather glad of the chance to avoid another," he laughed in return.
