First Friendlies announced

(Goolsund) During a Press Conference last night at Goolsund Hilton President Matti requires a closer cooperation between the nations of meistertrainerforum. He invited the National Teams of those nations from meistertrainerforum already signed up for World Cup XI to a friendly contest at Goolsund: East Germany, The Tree Mountains and Monkwearmouth. He also said, that every other team from meistertrainerforum would be welcome, if they signed up.

2 things

1. Is there any chance of the vote for host being soon? It's just we're getting onto the complicated stuff and we need to know if we need to design it.

2. Any chance of reducing enteries to 96 please. Just if TnUI doesn't get hosting and we have 96 enterants then we're snookered.
Oilermania
15-12-2003, 09:38
can we still sign up? if so Oilermania signs up.

TBF: the 96 number is just for qualifying. Plus the two hosts makes 98. The hosts are included in that number.

KP/CH will take 92 if they host (15 groups of six, plus them) - the first 92. So there's only three guaranteed places (assuming LE/G are using at least 90 in qualifying - I've discounted Pab and EL CID) remaining. Get 'em while they're hot.

The WCC,

TBF for long has been trying to host this, the most glorius of competions. I know we may be annoying idiots but we belive that we are the best people for the job of hosting. TBF would love being given this great oppertunity along with Rejistania. Rejistania and I (Well mainly Rejistania)has spent many hours creating a superlative tables program and I beg you not to waste those hours. We have spent much money on building a new stadiums for the finals, the biggest with a capcity of over 100,000! We have come up with several new ideas, such as the live draw (Lended to KP for the Cup of Harmony), an excellent spreadsheet to generate the results and much more. We belive that we could make this the best ever World Cup, one you would remember forever.

To those who are not going to vote for us because of personal feelings I make this plea, I know I can be annoying, I kow I can be the detestable person on earth but I promise you I culd do a damn good cup.

Thank You.

From the desk of Ufhur the Hated, Minister for Sport, Empire of Warnocks Wizards

Dear World Cup Committee Members:

Please consider the co-hosting bid of Total n Utter Insanity and Warnocks Wizards for World Cup 11. The merits of TnUI's involvement will be familiar to you as he has prior hosting experience. Our friends TnUI have also been slaving away, creating a new spreadsheet for the World Cup. As you are no doubt aware of the strengths of a TnUI bid, this short note will focus on what our Enlightened Empire brings to the World Cup.

By choosing WW, you would be signifying the importance in spreading peace through football, a personal crusade of ours. WW would be the first nation from Middle Earth to ever host the tournament, so choosing us insures that a new region will experience the joys of hosting the world through football.

One doesn't like to toot one's own trombone, but WW brings strong RPing skills and prior experience to hosting a football tournament. WW hosted the second Cup of Harmony, and to give you some idea of what we might bring to hosting the world cup, please see the Cup of Harmony Thread (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92216).

We have also been laying the foundations for a story arc for WC11 that will hopefully amuse and entertain the World Cup community at large.

WW will be an equal partner to TnUI and will assist in generating scores, drawing up groups, tabulating tables, and addressing any controversy that may arise during the tournament.

Finally, choosing a WW bid will insure that the Red and White Wizards qualify for the World Cup for the first time ever. The nation has failed to qualify by the narrowest margins, cruelly falling at the final matchday in the last two World Cup qualifying campaigns. Voting for a WW bid will allow the wacky wizards to finally compete on the world stage.

In short, please consider the co-hosting bid of Total n Utter Insanity and Warnocks Wizards. Thank you for your time,

Ufhur the Hated

Some Questions:
How to become a member of WCC?
On which basis do you calculate the matches?
Commerce Heights

Some Questions:
How to become a member of WCC?
On which basis do you calculate the matches?
1. You become a member of the WCC by hosting the Cup.
2. The historical offensive/defensive strength, the difference in rank between the teams, the amount that each team has RPed, and home-field advantage are combined to create 'modified defensive numbers' for the two teams in a match. The offensive strength determines the number of 'attacks' that each team gets. For each attack, a random number between 0 and 1 is generated, and if the number is lower than the modified defensive number of the other team, a goal is scored. The goals scored by each team are added up to create the final score of the match.

Mestertrainerforum - An upcoming Football-Region

(Goolsund) World Cup XI and Worldcup for Regions released an unexpected great interest at Meistertrainerforum. Six nations decided to sign up for qualifying rounds, whereupon our really young region supplies 6% of the competitors. Will this be the beginning uprise of a new mighty football-region?
The teams of East Germany, The Tree Mountains, Monkwearmouth, Newcuba, Lubistan and of course the magnificent boys from Mattigool will proove it.
BUT: There is a relatively weak resonance to NationStates CL. Only IFK NewHavannah (Newcuba) and Goolsund BK (Mattigool) want to take the rocky road from the 1st Qualifying Round to the final up to now.

AP – World Cup 11 brings us another round of exciting, fast paced, action packed international football. It will be hard to live up to the World Cup 10 standards, with the War on Errorism by the International Grammar Police, the death of the entire Evisceratomatoes squad in a qualifier match with East Spaam, and the arrivals of great RPers, such as New Montreal States and Cockbill Street, but I think that WC11 will pass those expectations. Let’s take a look at a few of the teams.

The Oglethorpian National Futebol Side (“The Wonderteam”)
http://www.blacksuperhero.com/gallery1/gal-jleague2.gif
The Wonderteam

The Wonderteam poses a great side this year, following their excellent performance in the last cup. I can’t say I’m a fan of the uniforms… Heck, I’d even prefer the Oregon Duck’s new away uniforms to those. I hate spandex.

The Oregon University Ducks new Away Jerseys

I dunno why, it’s just that it’s bad enough when your uniforms are out of sync, but when they’re spandex? Eww. However, the Wonderteam do possess a slight advantage; they can fly.

The Bedistani Football Team (“The Lions”)
http://www.sagelinks.com/images/kittens.jpg
The Lions

Newfound rivals, The Bedistan Lions, present a squad that much resembles the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (US), who have gone this season 4-12, 0-8 on the road. Their team doesn’t look very fit either, seeing as they’re a litter of kittens. Look for them to get laughed at by the Royal and Gold Army.

The Audioslavia Football Team and Bed & Breakfast (“The Slaves”)
http://www.otari.com/products/images/DP75_250.jpg
The Slaves

The Slaves look to be strong this year, boasting a lineup full of High Speed Twin Pancake Slave Recorders (pictured above). However, their downfall this year will be listening to too much music and incorporating song lyrics into their games. Everywhere they go, they carry around giant flame shaped things, and leave them in random places. This out of focus strategy will leave them wanting to leave one in the handicapped family restroom than winning the cup.

The Family Restroom of Midas Field in Baderstrudt, Kingsford

None the less, the Audioslavia side will have a good starting run, but will eventually lose focus and fall out.

The Lemmitania Gil-Loving International Football Team (“The Lemmings”)
http://www.oziserv.com/cleft/lemmings1.gif
The Lemmings

Lemmitania has always sported a strong side, but repeat players for even three or four matches with them is rare, the whole nation has problems with mass suicide. The alibi has always been that they also have a diving team, but frankly, it’s a lie. The combined IQ for the country is 6. They walk back and forth, hitting walls that they’ve hit hundreds of times before!

http://outerspace.terra.com.br/retrospace/materias/consoles/imagens/parte26/lemmings.gif
Stupidity at its finest.

I mean, seriously, how moronic can you be? Either way, as stupid as they are they always seem to shine as football players.

This world cup will be a good one, though, traveling to places like Warnocks Wizards, where they play in castles, and Total n Utter Insanity, where they like George Michael a little too much. Perhaps if I have more time, I’ll write a followup to this article, describing some other great teams, but until then, this is Nick Lavalais for Athletic Review – The Magazine.

OOC: To those who applied for a jersey.. I'm working on them, and I'll get them done as soon as possible. Thanks.

ASNN - Star Gavin Fleury Dies in Hospital, Nation in Mourning
Kingsford releases new TLC jersey to be used in WCXI

GRAHAM CITY - Today, our nation is in mourning. Gavin Fleury, prellenial soccer star, captain of the Clans national team, and former army veteran died today in the hospital from injuries sustained in the final round robin game of the WCX. He was 31. Doctors say that the cause of death was unnoticed in first examinations. When he was flown in to GZ Memorial Hospital after the crash, he apparently had suffered spinal injuries unknown to anyone. Several spinal nerves had been damaged and had gone unoticed. As doctors began examining him, they continued to damage the nerves as they moved him around. Tonight, just after 9:00 PM, those damaged nerves snapped, cutting off the neural connection to his heart. He died several minutes later.

Many fans could be seen wearing Fleury jerseys and t-shirts, that have begun to be distributed free of charge at local sports emporiums and vendors. President-Elect Mark Graham, a self-proclaimed admirer of the soccer star, said he would bring up a motion in the Senate to have Fleury knighted. This honour has only ever been given to high ranking ministers and rulers of the ASLC. "Today, we have lost a hero. A symbol of our ascending power in the soccer world, and our recognition abroad. His death will mark a severe change in not only the soccer program, but our country as well," said the President-Elect in his speech today.

A public funeral will be held on Sunday Semptember 9th, two weeks from now. A private funeral will be held sometime in the next few days for close family and friends. He left behind a wife and two children.

Re: WW National Team Jerseys

To whom it may concern:

Please construct a set of national jerseys for our football team. The descriptions of our jerseys are as follows...

First shirt: red and white vertical stripes, with an alligator's head eating a football in the centre, and The One Ring in gold hovering over the alligator (see our national flag for what we have in mind)

Second shirt: black shirt, with The One Ring in gold in the centre

Thank you for your help in this matter,

Great job on the jerseys, but where's the Paladin?

(A Paladin is just a fancy word for a knight)

Beautiful job! You got art skills that I will probably never attain no matter how hard I try :)

Kaze Progressa

The Progressans have the following kit (as modelled by Aqizen Muqlin in the WC10 qualifying match against Spaam):

http://www.freewebs.com/kazeprogressa/Muqlin%20in%20KP%20kit.PNG

What you can't see because of the hand position (OOC: and the lack of graphical detail from afar in FIFA 2003, maybe) is the Progressair logo. It's nothing more than yellow text (Gill Sans or Gill Sans Condensed) with a yellow curving line from bottom left to top left to top right.

I would like an away jersey designed - red, with the same logo, and possibly a bit of green or yellow on the collar.

Edit: As can be seen in that picture Muqlin (and several other players) wear long-sleeve jerseys, whereas others wear short-sleeve jerseys. The sleeves should be all one colour to incorporate these differences.

What's that?
Did someone find the dusty box with all the vintage Chili Bats Away Jerseys and sew a few patches upon the sleeves? Ah well.... throwback jerseys are in style, just promise you won't wear them if you play against us .

Anyways, while I'm at it, here's Brazillico's jerseys for WC11.

Still I think IP-checks are no good!
Think about people, who normally post from schools, universities or simply use AOL! I don't want to be associated with any nation that just also is managed from Cologne University, TBF posts from his school and some people use the same computer.

Our country is in dire need of new uniforms for the upcoming world cup. Our were destroyed in an act of ecoterrorism when the ecoterrorist mistook our uniform supplier for a chemical plant.
Our uniforms were based off of the colors of our flag.

Please find enclosed a sizeable order and a bundle of cash as we in WW would like to contract you to produce in bulk the nice jerseys you have designed for our Enlightened Empire. Minister for Sport Ufhur the Hated is most pleased with them. I look forward to receiving the shipment in the near future.
