(OOC Ok, couple of points. Velmora is my nation, it is a real nation here and it has been here for a while under my control. This story already has an outcome, I am writing it as I go, so please if I am slow to respond or continue my apologies. I want this really good, this will effect my nation and characters.

Those who wish to join ONLY join if you know about this situation. Please T-gram me if you wish to join, but if you have no idea about this, best choice is not to join. I will explain the back-story to those who do not know, and to refresh those who do I am sorry about the size of all this, but this is necessary. Also it will be a reference. Here we go!

Life of a hero, Death of a leader, Unlife of a man.

Kain was the leader of Velmora when he was mortal. He fought with Rave against Xzar, a person who had been sent into the Chamber (or eternal prison) to learn his mistake. Time has no meaning there; time is different within. Xzar attempted to escape; Kain and Rave with the small army of Velmora beat the possessed Xzar and his army of demons. Kain was harmed greatly, as the spirit left Xzar and ravaged Kain's body.

Kain's soul began to change he would become something evil. He began to see death in every living thing (perhaps unrelated, I know why it happened), he was extremely ill. Kain resigned (called Kain Brightblade then), leaving Jarrid in charge of Velmora. Rave gave Kain a choice, be healed and turned into a vampire, or die by her scythe. Kain chose to become a vampire and left Velmora secretly. Rave told the people he had died.

A further sacrifice.

Daniella, who Kain admitted to loving, was harmed greatly by demons. She would turn into a demon if she were not going to die or be turned. Kain gave her the same fate. But Kain was still a fledgling; he was not allowed to sire another vampire so early. He became exiled and cursed by the Shentavo's, his old clan due to this. Kain was deeply shamed by this, and had new curses to come to terms with, as well as betraying the one who had saved him, Rave.

Kain decided that he would need to teach Daniella the best he could; he would become wise and powerful to protect and help her. The only way he saw of doing this was going into the Chamber, where time would become far faster, so a second within the chamber would be years for him. He decided to go to Velmora, to save Velmora and to discover the truth of events, and to become a better sire to Daniella.

The Brightblade, a hidden operative

The sword which Kain has been using through his mortal life and his vampiric unlife is the Brightblade, where he got his original name from (The Psi, the people of Velmora thier surnames are called by what role or honor they have, like silkweaver, or deepwood). The Brightblade was originally and still seen by the Psi as a holy weapon, which was given by the Seer to protect and help Velmora.

In battle, it helped all people on the battlefield, as Rave saw when they here fighting in the Chamber against Xzar. It certainly seemed like a holy weapon. But as Kain changed and grew older, he began to realize it's true nature. The sword was a demon trapped within immensely powerful spells, bitter and in the servitude of the Seer. Kain began to learn more of it's nature.

The Brightblade was a mighty demon, trapped and channeled within the sword. He has been within the sword for as long as the Seer have been. No-one can remember a time when the Seer did not exist....

Only wanting freedom, unknown to Kain, it was a tool for the Seer, who could not effect the world directly. It spied and was the assassin to the Seer. It attempted to kill Kain...but Kain persuaded it to serve him. Kain would release the demon, in exchange for him protecting Kain. It agreed, knowing the Seer would not release him.

The powers of the Brightblade a great, but mainly is the one that Kain no longer requires blood, but still feels the sensation of hunger but not the consequences. This was a lifesaver, due to Qui's curse.

The demon now working with Kain grudgingly, only wished two things, which it has been brooding over for its time within the sword. Revenge and Freedom.

The Seer, the Dead, the Wise.

The Seer is not one person. It is a collection of the dead spirits who offered their souls in order to guide and protect Velmora in their death. Within the Chamber of The Seer, they are turned upon for guidance and help. Not direct leaders of Velmora, they are like Gods to the Psi, their wisdom and good intentions where never questioned.

The creators of the Brightblade, they used the Brightblade to effect the world. They ordered the Brightblade to kill Kain…but the Brightblade disobeyed. The Seer could do nothing....

The reason why they wanted Kain dead is still unknown, or the sins they committed against Velmora....

The Rings, a mysterious destroyer of peace

The powerful artifact worn by Xzar, which made him possessed, now lost and presumed, destroyed. They sent Xzar mad with power and fought against Velmora with his own horde of evil. They where beaten back and Xzar was cast into the Chamber (the eternal prison). He returned as explained.

The rings where taken from him, and Kain said that he destroyed them. (Kain fought Xzar twice. I hope this is making sense…)

Also, last point in this overview of the past, the Psi are the people of Velmora, they possess greater psychic abilities, and can “channel”. Simply put, they use the earth’s life force in their spells. This causes wounds upon the earth, which are healed swiftly. It is outlawed and unthinkable to leave a scar upon the earth.

Phew… The next post will be the next part to Kain’s Saga…enjoy and please bear with me! And to those new to this story, all of these events have occurred within Nation states, I have not just made this up they have happened in other treads so you can appreciate me trying to explain about four long complex threads, and even now I have probably forgotten something…lol

“At the beginning of my entrance to Velmora, I could have never prepared myself for the revelations I would face. Such forbidden truths as a mortal could have destroyed me…..I could never had comprehended the monumental secret hidden right beneath our feet….”~Kain’s personal Journals

The long blades of grass rocked gently to the wind as the chilling wind hummed a sorrowful lullaby to the earth. The tees leaves rustled like clattering bleached bones, their brown and dying lives where hopeless, certain of the land’s corruption. The fish within the freezing water, where full of longing for the better memories, they lingered about in one place, hoping for death as it might offer more than this life they where living.

The wind sang the second part of her song, the disturbing orchestra parts of the dying trees and the stagnant water following in this chilling melody. They sang of better days, how they where long gone, and they where never to return.

“Was it always like this?” the being only known as Cloak aware of it’s life asked it’s creator, as Cloak remained unanimated at his side, the color a thoughtful purple in reflection of it’s creators mood, the once proud ruler of this now dying land.

A pause and a sigh followed the question. The figure felt the Cloak upon his shoulder it was always there. He looked onwards; his segmented brown eyes saw only death in life, his curse from the vengeful spirit which possessed his loved teacher and friend Xzar. Xzar died when possessed to the hands of Kain himself….it had to be done….

He stared long and hard at Velmora’s once abundant and lushous land, now a husk of a dying mother, saddened by what her children did to her in their madness.

“Never until this day….what happened Jerrid? What went wrong?” Kain asked the land. What monumental event caused this catastrophe, this…sacrilege.

Demon, do you know?
I do, but be wary the truth could destroy you. Best to learn it for yourself….

The demon within the curved sword, ironically named the Brightblade replied. It was a holy weapon of the Psi, which Kain used to save Velmora against Xzar. But Kain soon after becoming a vampire discovered the demonic presence within the sword, which he did not know was there before. The Seer had made the demon trapped within the sword. For what reason Kain did not know…he knew that the demon once tried to kill him for its own freedom, promised by the Seer.

Bargaining with the demon, Kain promised the demon its freedom and revenge against the Seer for the entrapment of it, in return that he would be protected by the Brightblade, when it was free as well. It was a good arrangement; The Brightblade needed Kain to be free.

Kain ceased his morbid fascinations and began walking, this person had not been seen within Velmora for a great time…the true ruler of Velmora was about to return….

Alexander Silverweaver hammered against the cooling silver, his blows forming the weapon, shaping it, tempering it. The sounds of the hammer against the molten silver weapon filed the small workshop, with each clang of the hammer deafening. Due to this, Alexander was slightly deaf.

Clang. Clang. Clang

Stepping back from his creation, Alexander smiled in triumph, but the feeling soon passes as he realized what the silver sear was for, what the owner would do, who they would serve. Taking a small white cloth, Alexander whipped his sweating brow. He had been working for hours poured lovingly into this weapon, one like the other twenty he had created for the week.

Alex’s work was almost finished there was only one more power to be done. A tall woman walked to her husband and smiled. She looked to the work and chanted light words of enchantments, weaving the fabric of reality over the spear. Blue light formed around the sword, runes began to appear upon the silver surface…it was done.

Exhausted the two rested. Alexander began to put away the equipment, while Cassandra checked the magics on the swords, checking for flaws. There where none.

Alex put the hammer away upon the shelf and looked at the recently made sword, admiring it. It was perfect, more excellent than the rest. He picked it up slowly, the sword was so light! The silver sang in the air, the blue runes glistened in the workshop. He saw his own reflection in the pure silver blade, his own smiling face in joy of his creation betraying the deeper troubles that he had, that the all the resistance members had.

“This one…this one is for the resistance.” Alex said, as he swung the sword in an open space. It hummed like a siren it was so beautiful. But then Alex remembered what the swords would be used for, whose blood they would shed. Their own people. Still, the alternative was far worse Alexander believed as did the resistance.

“Please! Be careful…you do not know who might be listening… You know how I feel, remember we have someone else to care for now….” Cassandra said in caution, rubbing over the small bump of a tiny life growing. Her eyes where golden, her willowy form beautiful to Alexander. He smiled and stared into her eyes, and brushed a strand of her long black hair. She had small bags under her eyes, from troubled says and nights, worrying if Alexander would be caught giving weapons to the resistance. They had to give weapons to the army of Velmora, if they ever found out about all of this; their lives would be forfeit.

“I know…but you must understand my dear. I cannot stand back and let them destroy our friends, our families and our homes. I cannot allow our child to be raised in this kind of place…not like this. Not where a group of insane dead men order the people about, preparing for war and silently killing those who argue! I cannot allow this to happen…I cannot go out and fight…but I can help those people who do.” Alexander said in response. She sighed and nodded in some sort of understanding.

“I..I only wish that none of this had happened! We risk our lives everyday….what kind of parents would we be to this child?” Cassandra said, close to tears at the stress of it all.

“I know I know…shhh..” Alex said and hugged her. “I wish it was not like this too..I really do. It is one big mess since Kain abandoned us…” Alexander said. They both smiled sadly and comforted each other.

“What do you think he did Alex?” Cassandra asked. “Kain I mean…do you think what they said was true? That he betrayed us? That he ran away?” Cassandra sat down in thought.

“I do not know. But I am sure he had a damn good reason. It would make no sense to run away let alone betray us! After what he did…there is no way he would have betrayed us. But…..I do not know anymore. What could drive him to vanish without a trace?” Alex said to himself thoughtfully.

Alexander was the main supplier of weapons to Velmora’s forces, the silver weapons which could be used easily in the spells, and they could be used with deadly effectiveness with the aid of magic. Alexander had quotas every week, he knew of the punishment if he failed. Twenty swords every week. There where many more like him, ordered to work and produce weapons for the army under Jarrid’s command. Rumor said that Jarrid was preparing for a war, not just defense as he had said. Never in all of Velmora’s history had there been a war, sure there where the conflicts with Xzar’s demonic forces, but never against another nation. Most people dismissed the idea altogether…although many would not admit it, it certainly seemed that way. A gorilla war was going on between the army of Jarrid, and the loyalists to Velmora, led by none other than B’jorn, a trusted and old friend of Kain, who fought with him against Xzar.

Before the two could say another word, a mailed fist banged at the wooden door. “Alexander Silverweaver. In the name of Velmora and by the order of Jerrid Lionheart, the quota of twenty silver sword where to completed. Let me in to collect them.” A loud and bold voice commanded, a royal voice commanded.

Alexander froze, he had to put the sword somewhere they would not find it. He looked around, seeing Cassandra’s shocked face, he looked for a hiding place for the sword.

“Let me in or feel the consequences!” the voice commanded another set of bangs against the door.

“Just a minute!” Alexander said, looking a the floorboards. He got onto his hands and knees and lifted one of the loose ones. Slowly he placed the silver down onto the little space in-between and replaced the floorboard.

“Hurry up! One…” the guard said, as a sound of movement was heard outside. Alexander made sure the floorboard was in place. It wasn’t. He pushed down and replaced the floorboard as it should be….

“Two….” The guard continued and readied to break the door down.

Alexander got up quickly, almost tripping. He opened the door just in time, before the armored body of this guard smashed through the door.

“What in the name of the Holy Seer where you doing! Get out of my way!” the guard barked as he walked in, pushed Alexander out of the way with his fully armored body. He was totally covered with silver plate mail, every movement came with a clank. He had a massive claymore on his back, with the same runes upon it as was on the swords.

“There…they are all there. All twenty…Is…is there a problem?” Alexander asked, he tried to hide his nervousness, but failed miserably. The guard inspected slowly each one, hands behind his back, his cynical eye upon each one on the rack.

“Hmmn I suppose they will do.” He said. He said a few words, and they all vanished, all to reappear within the armory.

“Same time next week.” The guard said, as he clunked out, each footstep caused a creak in the floorboards. He stopped near the hiding spot. Alexander began to sweat fearing the worst. “Something…. something wrong?” he asked, his hands twitching unwillingly.

“Shut up!” The guard said, and looked at the floor. “What is this?” he began to bend downwards, on the exact spot where the sword was hidden…. reached downwards to pick up the floorboards. Cassandra was panicking looking at Alexander to do something. There was nothing he could do.

“Well well…” the guard said happily, a weird sense of happiness, which meant he could do some horrible things.

“What do we have here Alexander?” The guard said smiling reaching downwards to pick it up……Alexander stared in horror. Had he found it?

A low mist covered some of the dirt paths of Velmora. It was approaching night time, it all worked in Kain's advantage. The streets where dark and seemed to resonate a sinister mood, as though some guard was about to stab you in the back for some crime against the ruler.

Small magically lights lit the wet pavements, the blue glow of the orbs would have been pleasant, but now it kind of mande the streets look like an alien place, the blue rays danicng on the pools of water from the recent shower. Few people walked upon these paths, it seemed so dangerous. People where not lie they used to, trusting freindly and open. Now they where secretive, pecimistic and solitary. People rarely went outside, the heavy footsteps of a armoured foot upon the floor made the nation seem like it was under constant observation, under the foot of Jerrid. These where not guards protecting the people, these where guards who kept a careful eye on everyone to check for anyone slipping up, for traitors. This kept everyone nervous and tense.

Kain drifted along, a low fog accross the damp streets. No-one was about, Kain was suprised. He did not expect it to be so easy. Almost like fate heard this, a guard slowly walked clanking slowly straight towards him. He took a position standing with his silver halbard upright. He sneezed in the cold, his plate mail shaking as he did so. The man had a stern jaw, and a black beard, he certainly did not seem happy that he was put on the boring gurd duty, instead of the growing army which was preparing for combat against an unknown enemy.

The guard looked around lazyily, Kain continued to drift slowly along. The guard turning his head looked directly at Kain for long seconds. Kain felt a small twinge of fear. Had he seen through this disguise? Long seconds of tension hanged, as the guard stared at the patch of fog.

The guard sneezed again and thought nothing of it. He muttered something about how he was going to see if he was going to get changed post. Perhaps the fog was the result of the magic in the lamp was malfunctioning and causing freak weather.

Kain would have sighed for relief, and continued along, passing thorugh his feet. He drifted along, when he saw another guard. This one had a purpose, he was marching with a self assured importance. He walked up to a shop, the sign on it saying "Silverweaver Weapons".

Kain watched as the guard banged on the door, “Alexander Silverweaver. In the name of Velmora and by the order of Jerrid Lionheart, the quota of twenty silver sword where to completed. Let me in to collect them!"

What business did a guard have with a simple weapon shop...then Kain relised. They where arming more! There must be an army gathering if they had quotas! Kain thought about the possiblities of this, how it would effect Velmora. He watched how the guard was getting ready to barge the door down, his amroured form ready to crash through. "One........two....." the guard started and the door opened to reveal a nervous man. the gaurd barged past him and walked in as though he owned the place.

The guard walked in and closed the door. Intreged, Kain floated under the door and watched.....seeing the events unferl.

“What do we have here?” The guard proclaimed as he picked something up from the ground. Alexander’s heart was racing he could do nothing now. They would kill them both for this betrayal, for hiding goods that “rightfully” belonged to the king. Alexander despaired, their lives where forfeit. The armoured figure slowly turned around on his heel, smiling. He was holding something, but not quite what Alex was expecting.

“I am sure you do not mind if I take this in the name of the King? Good.” The guard said as he held a purple crystal. It had been dropped when Alexander fell over, the crystals where the money system of Velmora. Clear crystals where worth hardly anything, and they went up in the colour and size they where. It would be hard for someone not a Psi to understand how you could immediately look at a crystal by it’s colour and weight and say how much it was worth. A crystal was deemed in price by how dense it was in the raw stuff of magic. Many Psi used them in day to day life, for their spells and things. This particular purple crystal was worth about £100, which was a fair bit just to take from someone. But this was the last thing on Alexander’s mind, being stolen cash from a guard. He was just relieved that he had not found the sword.

The guard held the crystal in his silver clad fist, admiring the dancing of the lights and left without another word. He was not going to give it to the king, he was going to keep it for himself. Not bad, he thought, that will pay for that bastard Cid winning in Runebone, that cheater. Runebone is a type of game which you can gamble in, the rules are complex and have much to do with the workings of Psi magic. A great deal like chess, only with each piece unique in who it can beat. Of course it was almost impossible to cheat, you would have to cast spells upon the pieces.

The guard paused for a second, he looked at the lower part of the door, as he saw the whips of fog brewing up from nowhere. “Damned weather, tis’ caused by traitors going against Velmora! They are causing the Earth to go up in protest!” The guard said to himself as he opened the door, his feet passing through Kain’s mist form.

Kain thought to himself, “Yes, traitors like you….” He kept to the door and watched Alexander breath a massive sigh for relief and sit back down. They couple comforted each other.

Alexander nerves where a wreck, he was shaking by the fear. HE sat down and held his head in one hand, the other one on the wooden chair’s armrest. If he had a hand outstretched in the air, it would shake violently. He need not want to seem too weak in front of his wife. She needed a pillar to lean on. They all did.

“That…that was too close.” Alexander breathed, his voice shaky. Cassandra put her arm around him from behind and smiled in relief the far distant thought about where the fog came from was put in the back of her mind. “Praise the Earth for her blessing. We should be more careful…” she said.

“Yes…yes I know. I will be in future.” He said and patted her hand smiling in relief. He got up slowly, his hand still shaking slightly. He looked up to the door to see the fog which the guard had been talking about was. “Odd…funny how fast the fog comes and goes…” Alexander said to himself as he saw nothing by the door. He got onto his hands and knees to get the sword. Cassandra went into the kitchen and make some Oliam.

Lifting the floorboard, Alexander took the sword and chanted words. He crushed a small clear crystal, as it vanished in usage of the spell. The sword faded from view. It was a simple storage spell, the sword was in a pocket plane which he used to store these things. Each Psi had these pocket planes, a place to store their most secret and personal items. As a result, the guards had a tendency to search them, but such searches required a search warrant. Thankfully, Jerrid still had to give those out on evidence, but such evidence could be created easily. He needed to keep some sort of security, otherwise far more people would be up in arms about this. He had that intelligence.

Kain left the door and decided to ask some questions. He did not know much of what happened. All he knew that these things where bad, and he had to help. But he needed to know what the hell was going on before he stumbled into the chamber and Jerrid’s guards.

He looked around. There where no guards outside, the moon in the night sky granted its pale light upon the wet pavement in alliance with the magical lamps to grant some light to this land of darkness and despair. Kain formed into his normal appearance, his Cloak was a deep green. Kain decided this form would be extremely unsettling to them, they would ask….awkward questions. No, he did not want to reveal who he was. He wove an illusion around himself. He began to change, his features became more human in appearance. He wove a powerful alteration upon his magical signature. The Psi often recognised each other by not their name, but by their magical resonance. Thus, someone could rarely disguise themselves effectively as someone else. Kain on the other hand, had his signature changed so drastically by his turning he held little resemblance to his old signature. However, someone who looked closely could detect whom he was, however improbable it might be.

No, Kain was not taking any chances. He would not reveal himself, he would simply ask for information. The Brightblade disguised itself, it was not dormant yet, only in combat could people understand what the sword was. The holy blade which Kain had taken. Many said he had stolen it….many where right.

He looked at his hands. There where five figures. Kain smiled in remembrance in how they felt like, in comparison to his cloven hands. His skin was pale and white. He disguised his fangs, he made them appear normal. Perhaps this is what I would look like if I where a normal looking vampire, Kain thought.

He brushed the thoughts aside and knocked upon the door, the Cloak changing into a Robe, covering most of his body. He had made foreign armour appear, to give the impression that he was indeed a foreigner. Kain was pleased by the disguise, he only hope it would fool them in thinking that he was not Kain Brightblade.

Knock, knock.

Knock, knock.

Alexander looked wearily to the door. He put away a final tool which he had forgotten, while he said. “Go away, we are closed!” he said tired, he only wanted some rest now. He did not need some stranger coming in.

Knock, knock.

“I said go away! We are closed for the night!” Alexander said more loudly at the door, slightly angry that he was being bothered again.

“Please, I only wish a moment of your time good sir.” the person outside said. The voice certainly did not sound like someone from here. His voice was strange in way it pronounced his words, as though he was Spanish. Obviously, no one in Velmora knew much about the outside world. They where isolated from the world, they preferred to stay away from that cruel world. Now it seemed they where becoming part of this cruel world, no matter how much they liked it.

Alexander walked up to the door, angry. Couldn’t this person get the message? I do not care if this guy is foreign, I am not serving him! He opened the door and saw something rather remarkable, so much so, he lost the words he was going to say. The man before him he had never seen anything like.

http://www.geocities.com/estel_tolkinart/hoodedkainsketch_col.jpg

The figure was smiling; he had strange and exotic armor underneath the great crimson cloak around him. He had rather pale skin, his face was finely chiseled. He seemed an alien in this place; he did not fit in with the usual kind of person. Normal people wore things which where practical and suited their profession. But this, this to Alexander was remarkable. He had never stepped outside of Velmora, few had. No-one liked foreigners, they where seen as trouble makers.

“Hello good sir, I hope I am not bothering you at this hour of the night, but I am afraid I am in a little bit of trouble. I am writing a book upon the history of this land, I have been to many other nations and recorded their history and many volumes. I would like to hear the stories of ordinary people, their views and beliefs on this nations history. But…not many are welcoming. In fact, no-one has even spoken to me, are those guards normally so rude? Anyway, if you would be so kind, could I ask you some questions? I am Herr Kalide, the son of Garland Kalide…I doubt that you have heard of me….no? I expected as much. May I come in and begin this great nations history?” The figure asked warmly. Kain hoped that the man would let him in, otherwise he did not know what to do…

Alexander had never met a man with such magnetism. The words he spoke where perfectly placed with their intentions, and his demeanour was warm and friendly. His face was smiling and inviting, as though you could say your deepest secrets to him and not worry about him breathing it to another person in all of his life.

“C..come in, please…sorry your name again?” Alexander said as he allowed the gentleman in.

“Mr. Kalide. Please call me Weymon, Alexander.” he said as he walked in, cleaning his boots with the mat, making sure he did not make the floor wet. Alexander did not even think why he knew his name, he was too shaken up by the recent experiances to think straight. He was so taken aback by this person's appearnace and the way he spoke and acted it seemed as though this man was a freind he knew for years.

“Please, sit down.” Alexander said as he gestured to a seat by the table. Cassandra walked in, and was rather taken aback by this gentleman. She looked at Alexander as in asking, “What is he doing here? What does he want?”

“Oh, Cassandra. This is a gentleman who only wants to ask some questions. Mr. Kalide.”

“Please..Weymon.” Weymon corrected smiling as he looked at Cassandra. Kain was glad that the two finally married. When he left, the two where engaged. He knew both of them as acquaintances.

“Yes…Weymon, this is Cassandra my wife. Cassandra, Weymon.” Alexander said, introducing both to each other.

“Charmed.” Weymon said to the silent Cassandra. “The feeling is mutual” Cassandra said, not really convincingly, she simply said it out of politeness. Weymon smiled and looked back to Alexander.

Alexander looked interested with these person’s questions, he didn’t know why. There was something about the man, which made him seem in control of everything, like nothing surprised him.

“Now, if I may ask a few questions. What has happened to this land? I see a land which has obviously seen better days” Weymon asked, looking inquisitively at Alexander. Weymon’s eyes where like deep oceans, ebbing and flowing upon the beach. Those eyes where unlike any of them had ever seen. They held them within their enchantment.

Alexander chuckled sadly. “Yes, yes it has seen better days. This land has been abused. I am not sure if you understand the channeling process of our spells-“ Alexander was cut short.

“Yes I know of it. Why would that affect the land? With each channeling, there should be the healing process as well. It would be unthinkable to do otherwise.” Weymon remarked.

The channeling process was the lending of magical energies from the earth. A Psi could channel energy by chanting and praying. As a result of this channeling, powerful spells could be cast, but it was a double-edged sword. The nature preserving Psi which each channeling cause damage upon the earth, life began to die with each channeling. As a result, a Psi after channeling must restore life to that area by healing the land using their own powers. To cause damage to the land and leaving it so was unthinkable…but unfortunately, the unthinkable was happening.

“Jarrid, the ruler of this land has been preparing for war. Therefore…he needs weapons, war machines troops. Mysterious spells have been cast, and the earth has been left scarred. I do not know what they are doing…no one knows. We are in a middle of a civil war friend, between Jarrid the ruler and B’jorn a loyalist to the old ways.

So old friend, you have stayed loyal to Velmora and me. Why did I not leave you in charge? And what is Jarrid using such spells and harming the land for? This does not make any sense, all of these things are for no reason.

“Why would Jerrid want to do this? What has caused these armies to be raised?” Kain asked still under the illusions of the man called Weymon.
Alexander simply sighed. “I don’t know, nobody knows. This all happened after Kain left….”

Cassandra left still listening to the conversation in the kitchen. She picked up a plate and began to wash it in the sink.

“Kain? Who is this Kain?” Kain himself asked. He wanted to know their opinions on him, of how they felt towards him. Again, the magnetism of this man made Alexander respond truthfully. Alexander paused before speaking, and when he did he spoke the truth of what many felt like.

“Kain….Kain was the ruler before Jarrid. Kain was a great man, he did so many things for us, so much sacrifice. Yet he vanished mysteriously soon after the battle against an evil man, Xzar. I shall not go into that just yet…but anyway. A kind and just ruler, he vanished. The strange being called Rave, who Kain so fondly referred to as Wise One, said that he died of a heart attack. But….the Seer and Jarrid began to say differently. They said he had run away, turned traitor.” Alexander said in remembrance of those speeches, which Jarrid used to turn the nation against Kain.

“What do you believe happened to him?” Kain asked, getting closer. He was starting to think differently. Perhaps they would want him back…to save them. But would they accept a vampire?

“I do not know….but he could not have run away for any reason. The man was loyal to his nation…and his people. He cannot have turned traitor.” Alexander said.

That was the evidence for Kain. He had heard enough he wanted to help his people again. It was not the people’s fault it seemed, it was Jerrid’s. He had caused these terrible events to occur. Yet Kain did not know why he would…. That he would find out soon enough.

Kain after a few seconds of thought stood up. “MY apologies I have been lying to you. I am not who you think I am.” Kain announced, perking Cassandra’s attention once again. She came back in, with a plate rubbing it dry with a cloth.

“What…what do you mean?” Cassandra asked with caution. She did not know what to expect. Who was he then?

“I am someone you know very well Cassandra. Both of you know me very well. Behold your old ruler in his new form.” Kain said simply. There was no pride or gusto just simple truth. The illusion began to break down and revealed the true vampiric Kain, with his green flesh, white hair, cloven talons and fangs.

Cassandra gasped and dropped the plate in horror and surprise of this being. The only sound was for long seconds was of the plate smashing on the floor.

OOC: One minor inconsistency, in an otherwise fantastic piece. Wouldn't Alex become suspicious that Kain knew his name, even through he hadn't introduced himself? I can't find anything saying that his name was on the shop sign or anything, nor anywhere where Alex introduces himself. :?:

(OOC Edited now, thanks for bringing that up. Thanks for the critisism, and thanks for the praise! :D )

“Mr.

Please, I want high quality posts, which you easily do. :D Going to get some sleep and write some more afterwards.)

Daniella paced the camp back and forth, feeling scared and unsure of herself and everything around her. Kain had been gone for days now, and she worried.

Daniella stopped to pick a small flower, letting the petals brush her fingers. She brought it to her cheek, the softness calming her nerves.

Kain, are you safe? she asked him telepathicly, sitting by her small tent, waiting for some kind of reply.

The plate crashing was the only sound the three heard. The tension and surprise filled the room, time ticked away silently, the realisation of what just happened sweeped across the people. Their faces where frozen no-one dared break the silence.

Kain looked at the two, their faces aghast. He had doubts whether or not he did the right thing. How would they react? Would they totally freak out?

Velmora had few fairy tales, and none included things like vampires. Vampires where a new concept to both of them, it would not have been so bad if Kain had normal features like any other vampire. But the green skinned and cloven handed Kain was a new and shocking experience for them both.

Finally, Alexander broke the dreadful silent which brought about unbearable tension. So many questions to ask Kain, those questions which all Psi had been asking themselves. And here, was the one person who held the answers, and possibly an end to all of this chaos within this nation.

All the questions raged through Alexander’s head. He thought what he wanted the answer to most demanding question, the one which was the most prominate. Such questions like, “How did you get like that? Why did Rave lie? Why did you leave? Why did you steal the Brightblade?” The list was so many. But one question summarised it in a short and simple question.

“What happened Kain?” Alexander asked, the following silence before Kain’s answer. Kain walked around the room a little, his own boots heavy against the floorboards. He had his arms behind his back, thinking on how best to answer the question.

“Many things…..too many things. Where to begin?” Kain asked himself.

“The start of all of this. When you left without a trace with the Brightblade?” Alexander asked.

A sigh came from Kain as he repeated what he had played through his mind. Cassandra left the shards of the plate upon the floor and walked closer to this being who called himself Kain Brightblade….she could not believe it. Yet she knew it was true, due to his signature. It was different from before, but from what Kain had experienced, Kain was surprised he held any shred of his old self. But it was still there, and it was recognised by Cassandra and Alexander both.

“The start…yes the start. But the start was not when I left. It all began during the fight against Xzar with Rave.Xzar was possessed by the spirits of the rings, to which now are destroyed.” Kain said, he knew he had not destroyed them. He knew where they where, it was impossible to destroy such things. He had kept it in the safest place.

“I….I killed him. The vengeful spirit attacked me, ravaging my body. I am sure when I came on to my speech you could see how my health had de. But it was not just my body, it was my soul. My soul was beginning to corrupt due to that spirit. I would have become some evil being, a demon, although some might say this form is no less evil. They are wrong of course…” Kain trailed and turned to lok at the two, listening to the story of this man.

“Rave in her kindness gave me a choice. Either die with honour and grace. Or become a vampire and remove the taint from my soul. I chose to become a vampire, the being which you see now. Are you familiar on what a vampire is?”

Alexander waited a moment, thinking back. He had heard of such things, they said Rave was one. Few knew what Rave actually was. Some said some strange messiah, others said a demon, others knew nothing at all apart from the fact that she had helped and saved Kain and the nation.

“I know of but vague ideas….” Alexander said, waiting for an explanation.

“Well a vampire is someone who is a being who will live forever. We are neither dead or alive, we are on the borderline of both realms. We…..we need to drink blood in order to survive. Before you ask, I do not kill in order to get my blood. I sue blood donors and the like contrary to anything you might hear. Now….I am sure you can appreciate how the people of Velmora would react if they saw the once proud and young Kain Brightblade, the hero and saviour of Velmora and it’s peoples turned into this, a mockery of the life to which he had struggled so hard to preserve. So I fled. I fled with Rave, so that I could start a new unlife, a new life where I had only to think of myself. You cannot comprehend the massive amounts of responsibility, he trials I faced when I was the leader of Velmora. So I left Velmora, leaving Jarrid in charge.” Kain said looking both in turn, explaining truthfully of the events which had occurred.

The two absorbed this new information, shattering the rumours that had been travelling and snowballing around Velmora. B’jorn was right, Kain did not betray them, even though he did not know why Kain left. How could they have doubted Kain? Doubted that he did have a good reason?

“So…why have you returned?” Cassandra asked inquisitively, wanting more information.

“Many reasons. Many of which you could not understand right now. But I assure you now, I will help you people.” Kain thought of a question of his own to ask, “Has there not been people fighting Jarrid? Surely you could not have let this happen?” Kain asked in return, he was interested why these events had occurred.

Alexander nodded. “Aye, there are groups attempting to stop Jerrid Kain, numerous small groups who fight a guerilla war. At the leader of the group is B’jorn.”

Kain smiled a little in remembrance for his friend, his loyal and trustworthy friend. Even now in this crisis did he stay loyal to Kain and Velmora’s true needs. There was some kind of hope, Kain was not alone in helping these people. That is what he would do. He would seek out B’jorn and their forces and see if there where a way to end this madness once and for all.
“B’jorn……where can I find him? You must know, you deliver weapons to him correct?” Kain asked them both.

“Yes…yes I do. How do you..? Never mind. B’jorn would be in the caves to the north, you will not find him first, he will find you. But please, take this with you.” Alexander said and spoke a few words of the strange spidery language of magic, words which the Psi had known in their infant days. Alexander made a long sword appear, the sword he had tried to hide before.

“Indeed your skills are great in making weapons.” Kain said as he picked up the sword. It was perfectly balanced like the Brightblade, but ever sword swing it gave a high pitched whine that sounded like angels singing. The silver sword was wonderful to hold, especially to a Psi. No-one knows why, but silver armour and weapons can be channelled through granting huge combat abilities. Silver armour could become easily the target for defensive spells. The armies of Velmora where fearsome to fight for this reason, they where all wizards in essence, capable of massive amounts of magic, with harm to the earth as a result. But now seemingly, Jerrid did not care….it was a frightening prospect if they where all armed with silver plate mail like that guard.

Kain are you safe? Kain heard the familer voice to him, itwas conforting.
Yes I am safe....I know of how to help these people now. I will go to the vaces in the north. I will meet up with you there. It is easy to find. I am sorry but there is little time and I cannot meet up with you. It should take half a day to reach there. If you meet with people of the caves, you should say you are loyal to B'jorn. You are an enemy of Jerrid. But say this to those loyal to B'jorn, they should be in the hills. And please try and make your vampiric traits less prominate....they might not understand. Please be safe, I will be.

Alexander was about to ask another question, when he was interrupted by a repeated knockings at the door. They all turned to the door and froze. Kain put the sword into another sheath the sliding of the silver weapon was wondrous.

“Both of you are charged with treason! Come out and surrender or die!”

The time was 9.34pm.

Alexander looked at Kain a look of a man knowing he was going to die. He feared for his own life, his wife, and their child. But most of all now, the single person who could save Velmora would be caught! They could not allow Jarrid to know that Kain was here! He would lose the initiative and secrecy! That could not be allowed to happen!

The guards readied themselves to batter down the door. They where not expecting the one person who might be able to topple the tyranny of Jarrid.

(OOC Daniella will take about half a day to get to the caves, I have something planned so get to the enterance of the mountin caves. She will know where Kain means, you cannot miss it. I have something planned.)
02-11-2003, 12:39
Orland walked purposefully through the temple, the great stone corridors gave off echoes of his armored form clanking through it. It was the same guard who saw that the weapons from Alexander had been collected. He walked along rather happy. He was in a good mood due to the success today at Runebone. He had won 40 crystals.

The term of having 40 crystals should not be confused with having 40 crystals. The sum of having 40 crystals in all should be found. This could be 40 clear crystals, 20 large clear crystals, 20 small purple crystals and so on and so forth. Orland had in fact only three small crystals, a purple one and two yellow.

AS he walked done, other guards saluted as he marched on by. He had to be rather prompt for Jarrid for this meeting. He said a word and brought up an equivalent of a magical illusionary clock. It sprang up before Orland’s eyes and showed him a time equivalent to 9.23pm.

He was happy, he was early. He had reached the great oaken door which read, “Head Peacekeeper Private Quarters”. Jarrid was in being a leader the head peacekeeper, although in reality, he was the exact opposite of what a peacekeeper was.

The Psi have a unique job system, you are chosen for a life role depending on what skills you have. You are then placed into the order which fits those skills. Different orders forfilled different roles within the community. Landwatchers farmed and healed the land, Waywatchers where guards and the defence force, Seawatchers where those who looked after the sick and provided services like rbinging rain upon a crop. Peacekeepers where like their name implied the negotiators, the diplomats and those who you could rely on to have strong morals and represent the Psi ideal. This was not the case now, many of the Peacekeepers had left Jarrid’s side, and gone with B’jorn in secrecy. But many where lead on by Jarrid’s words, which where directed by someone else…..

He knocked on the oaken door and the sound of Jarrid’s voice, once youthful and rather innocent was different. It was the voice of a general and commander of war. “Come in!” Jarrid said.

Orland did so and opened the door and closed it after himself. He looked to the room. It was the room Kain once had. It had changed drastically. Instead of the pleasant furniture and shelves filled with books and spells, it now had things of a general. It had swords, shields halberds, and great pieces of armour. It still had spells, but these spells where not of a beneficial nature. Kain did have offensive spells within his library but he did not concentrate upon them. Jarrid did now….

Most new of all was something which had never been made or used. It had to be made especially for Jarrid, and those people who did where sworn to secrecy about it through magic. It was a table, which had a map of the world around Velmora around it. And upon it there where pieces, blocks with symbols upon. This was not his personal chambers, this was his war room! Each piece represented a legion of men, and there where numerous blocks.

“Sir? You asked to see me?” Orland asked respectfully and humbly, far from the way he spoke to others, his haughty proud voice would not have pleased Jarrid one bit. He demanded the utmost respect, he grew angry at those who disagreed with his plans. Their plans.

“Yes. Yes I did Orland” Jarrid said and turned from his study of the map. He was wearing a long flourishing white robe, the one of the peacekeepers. It was the one which Kain had worn, when he was leader. It had golden trimmings, it was the symbol of the Peacekeepers, you could recognise one by their robes.

He gestured to come beside him, as he looked back to the map, at the other nations. He had black hair, which was long at the back, he had blue eyes and the kind of feverish look that someone who’s plans of power where all coming together.

“This…this is Velmora. See how tiny it seems in comparison to the rest of the world. See how they have stolen what is rightfully ours!” Jarrid remarked as he pointed to Velmora. The nation indeed was small in comparison to the other nations around it.

The nation of Velmora was almost completely surrounded by ocean, it had granted security and isolation for many years. But the small part of land there was connecting Velmora to the rest of the world was a narrow pass, which has only allowed a few people through at a time. But recent plans where going to change that.

Jarrid pointed to the nation near that narrow pass, at the end of it. Jarrid pointed towards it, and smiled at Orland. “Velmora is going to war against this nation.” Jarrid said triumphantly.

Orland was totally shocked. He knew of this nation’s power. That would be an impossibility! They would all die! They did not have a chance against that army!

“S…sir with all due respect we cannot possibly win that!” Orland said, trying to make Jarrid see some sense.

Jarrid thought for a few seconds and backhanded Orland hard. “You dare disobey me? Do you think I have not thought of their army size? I have a plan to win. The Seer has guided me ever step of the way for this. You see, this is how we shall beat them…..”

Jarrid explained his plan, and it frightened and excited Orland. Such a thing had never been done before! They could win this if they could pull it off! After Jarrid had explained the entire plan, Orland aluted and rushed off to inform the other captains. Jarrid simple stood a looked at the land which he would invade. How he dreamed of those lands, how rich and beautiful they where. How they belonged to them, how they had denied them it thousands of years ago. He thought of poor Kain, how he was falling for their trap. Every step of the way, Jarrid knew of where he was. What he would do. He had set the traps. The guards should be there by now.

And all of these things where told to Jarrid by the Seer. The Seer had their own agendas to fulfil. Their perfectly orchestrated plan had gone on longer than Jerrid realised. The plan had been going on before Kain was even born…..

Alexander looked at Kain hastily. He did not like what he had to do. Kain was readying for a combat, Cassandra looked to Alexander to see what he would do, the tension building as the guards bashed against the door, the sounds of sword being drawn outside the door.

“Kain get out of here!” Alexander pleaded to Kain, pointing to the window at the back of the kitchen as a way of escape.

“What? I cannot possibly, you will all die!” Kain said in response, looking at the door as he heard and bang against the door of someone attempting to barge it down, the small home giving off trails of dust from the old home being shaked. Cassandra thought the home would fall down before they got in.

“You heard me! Jarrid cannot know that you are here! Velmora needs you alive Kain, get out now while you can! Please…save Velmora, I do not care what you have become just help us like you did before!” Alexander said to him, the last words of the doomed man. Kain stared into those eyes of Alexander’s. They where the eyes of someone ready to sacrifice himself for the better of everyone in a nation. Kain slowly nodded and ran straight for the window, not looking back knowing that they where all as good as dead. His own tears streamed backwards, such sacrifice….

Alexander and Cassandra looked at each other, they looked at each other for the last time. They embraced for long seconds. The door smashed down, to reveal an armed guard brandishing his axe and silver shield, his face grim and him roaring as he clambered through the shattered door.

Kain smashed through the glass window, the shards of glass piercing his skin as he tumbled onto the street. No-one saw him thankfully, but people where looking out their windows at the fmailer sight of someone being raided by the guards. He gathered himself up from the fall and began to run with vampiric speed out of the city, towards the caves to the north, his Cloak keeping close to him, it was a lightening blue.

A wave of spells and chanting filled the small house, an explosion was heard as the entire home ignited into flames. Cassandra sent forth a great blast of energy towards the first guard catching him unaware as it ripped through his body. Alexander drew his long sword, and gave a silent prayer and charged into the hopeless combat. The second guard clambered over the body and brought his spear into Alexander. Alexander barely parried and the two fought in the small area, to the death. Cassandra screamed as another guard sent a lightening blast towards her, throwing her into the kitchen, the plates and crockery smashing around her. She was bleeding at the head, she raised a bloody hand to cast another spell, her last. She chanted as Alexander stabbed into the armoured guard, who was supported by his comrade as he himself was stabbed himself by a scimitar.

Alexander fell to his knees as the scimiter slid painfully into his stomach. Everything slowed down, he could hear his breathing, extremely slow and shallow. He saw the guard with his war face as he pulled out the scimitar, covered in his blood. He fell to the ground as the blade left his body, his vision was getting darker…the last thing he saw as he lied bleeding on the floor was Cassandra letting loose her spell. Alexander whispered to himself, to any god that was listening. “Please Kain, save this nation, save our people.” He closed his eyes as the darkness took over him.

Cassandra let lose her spell, tears of fury running down her face as she saw her husband killed before her eyes. Her face was bloody and contorted in a mixture of pain and anger. The guards where almost on top of her, about to send a spear straight through her. But it was not to be. She screamed oin frustration and rage and she closed her eyes, waiting a moment, taking her last breath. Cassandra exploded in flames, killing herself in the blast and setting the entire house alight. The guards could do nothing, the spell was already in effect. The guards where blown backwards, incinerated along with the two of them.

The small home burnt throughout the night, cremating the couple who had sacrificed themselves for the one person who had a hope of saving Velmora.

Kain was full of rage himself. He wished he could have stayed, to save them. But he continued to flee, to run towards the cave where he would meet Daniella. The great pillar of smoke rose up in the sky from the burning home.

”Those two people I think of everyday, and I give thanks to them for their sacrifice. Who knows what would have happened if they had not been so selfless?” -Kain Irenicus’ Journals

The last remaining guard, who was bloody from being knocked back from the blast into a wall, stepped through the burning home. He had was the last one, he was at the back. He was bleeding heavily from the head. The heat was immense, but he went through he said a few words which made him less venerable to the heat. He coughed from the black fumes of the burning, the smell was god awful, the bodies where grotesque and almost made him throw up. He stepped through, seeing the blackened corpses in their last agonised positions. He stepped through, and looked through the window to see Kain running away, he smiled in success as he began to fall.

“Kain you bastard…you fell into our trap…” the guard said before collapsing and being consumed by the flames as he fell down due to his wounds. He began to laugh as he was consumed, it was the laugh of someone knowing their hated killer would come to a far worse fate.

“And so I left to find the loyal B’jorn and those who sided with him, to seek his council and his assistance. If only I had known what had lain in store for me, I would never had gone, let alone send Daniella….”

(OOC Feedback is greatly appreciated, anything I have messed up or should change? Do you think people would read this if I put some of this into book form?)

BUMP for Daniella/WA/Rave!

OOC: Sorry. Hell of a bad day yesterday.

IC:
Daniella sighed, and packed a few vials of blood. She pulled a black cloak on, glad she looked more human than vampire, and let her long hair down, letting the hood expose her face. She needed to appear innocent.

As she marched into the mountains, she was filled again with fear. Kain's words filled her mind over and over again, as if he was speaking to her still.

Say you are loyal to B'jorn. You are an enemy of Jerrid.

She reached the entrance to te caves, and cleared her throat. The winds blew, and seemed to chill her, although Daniella felt no cold.
03-11-2003, 11:14
Daniella walked up the mountins, there was no sign of Kain.

The mountins where deadly, one slip could kill you in places, one reason why the resistance chose this place, it was easily defendable. There where great clumps of short vegetation, like moss and the like. There was little life here as well, most of it was blackened and dead.

The winds whipped around, bringing thier chill around the place. It sounded like a wailing banshee, moaning at her fate. It was deeply distrurbing.

As Daniella was about to enter the cave a voice spoke from within the cave.

"Hold! Who are you to come here stranger?" a deep voice said from within the cave. It echoed upwards, it was a tunnel downwards and the man was at the bottom of it.

Unknown to Daniella, where she was standing there where six other archers aiming at her, through ingenous hiding places, outside and inside. Daniella saw with her improved vision the man speaking to her. He was wearing a light blue tunic, his face was hard and grim, his long yellow hair moving slightly against his face, as did his clothes move gently.

He was wearing armour in places, small silver pads. He was a Skywatcher, not that Daniella would have known such a thing. He had the abilities to cast great spells to do with the element of air, so arrows could become far deadlier. Needless to say, should Daniella give a wrong answer, a barrage of arrows would fly straight towards her, and there would be no escape.

Daniella smiled. Kain had not failed her.

"Well, I am loyal to B'jorn, an enemy of Jerrid, and will defend my position until death. I strive to help a friend of mine survive. And who are you, might I ask?"
03-11-2003, 12:49
The man stayed where he was and whispered something to the others. He said to his comerades quietly, all of which they could hear. "Well seh certainly is not what they would have sent. A spy perhaps?"

The man took a step forward, his bow still drawn at her, his jaw stained. "Who is this...freind of yours?" tha man asked, ignoring her question about his name.

"Until you answer me I will not answer you." Daniella said. "I have been sent here for an unknown reason. But this man I strive to help will help you. He has come to free Velmora, as you try to do."
03-11-2003, 12:53
A pause in thought who this man could be. His tone softened a little but the bow still was nocked and ready to shoot.

"I am Kalide, now answer my question.... Who is this person whom you say will save us? he asked.

03-11-2003, 12:54
"I am Daniella ... (she paused at the last name) ... Irenicus. The man I serve is known here as Kain."
03-11-2003, 12:56
the man paused longer this time. No she could not mean....

"Broken One....There are many Kains...who do you refer?" The man asked.

(OOC Irenicus means "Broken One, Exiled One" in Elven and Psi)

Daniella saw his expression. She felt his faint hope.

"Yes, you know which Kain I mean. I believe he used to go by Brightblade."

OOC: Daniella took on Kain's name. I don't know why yet.
03-11-2003, 13:00
"He is dead! You lie!" the man took another step forward and held the arrow more taught. He was angry now. The wind blowed around them, the whistling of the caves. There was a long silence....

Daniella looked him dead in the eye.

"Would I lie about the man I love?" The thought made her shudder, and her eyes turned glossy. "I swear to you on my honor Kain is alive. Please, we must help him!"

The long silence continued as the man reached a desicion. History could have been changed if that man had made a different desicion. The wind blew again, the whistling of the cave sounded again.

Khalid slowly lowered his bow. "Come with me."

He walked down the dark and damp passages. As they went down, theyw here followed by six other people wearing the same outfits, armed with longbows. The passages where narrow and winding. Thre where some passages as they went downwards, with various other people within.

Some where sitting around campfires. One cave was a hospital, the wounded moaning in pain as spells where chanted. One was a nursary for the children, as some of the children cried.

Theyw ent down and reached a small corridor. The sound of water was heard as they went down. Khalid asked Daniella as they walked down the slippary passages.

"Where has Kain been then? Why did he leave us to this fate?" Kalid asked, rather hatefully. He believed that Kain was a traitor, no matter what B'jorn said.

03-11-2003, 22:26
"I do not know. All I know is I owe him my life." Daniella said. "He saved mine."

She took a good look at the man.

"Are you going to help me? Kain said I could trust you."
03-11-2003, 22:29
"That is not my desicion to make. Go inside." Khalide said pointing to a long caven tunnel. It was dark, but Daniella could see a door at the end of it. Khalid and the others blocked off the exit, the only way to go was to that passage. There was water running at the two sides, there where two holes at the enterance, which allowed water downwards.

The water provided water for the people, once it went into another cavern below for distilation with magic.

Daniella stepped forward and walked through the doors. She turned back.

"You're not comming with me?" She allowed her voice to sound as that of an innocent child. She was a little frightened, but her voice amplified the feeling. "What will I face? Tell me!" she begged.
03-11-2003, 23:37
A lone, shadowy figure sat perched on a rock a good distance away from the cave. He had thought he had smelled the distinctive scent of vampire apon the evening breeze, but his search had led him to something he didn't expect... His golden eyes gazed in apprehension at the cave entrance. He had seen this woman before, in a cabin in the woods. The name I seek is Daniella, I believe... His mind drifted, memories coming back to him. In his mind he saw Kain, one of the few beings he had deemed worthy of his respect, standing with this female. Kain seemed to cast a sort of spell on her, curing some sort of magical ailment.

He waited patiently, turning a single question over in his mind... Should I help? A being Kain deems worthy of friendship must be worthy of assistance... The hunter sat, thought, and waited, unmoving, seemingly becoming part of the rock itself.

This explains the new nation.
Five Civilized Nations
04-11-2003, 14:41
On a cliff in the distance, a figure stood gazing down upon the broken land... He was a leader of men, yet not a leader... He had fought some twenty years of continuous war to unite his nation, but at the end he was rebuffed, exiled to the Forbidden Lands, never to return home, until called.

He is Lance Crusade, the former Duke of Cala... Now he was nothing, a wandering of the lands. Lance sighed... Trying hard to remember his homeland, his beautiful homeland. Lance's mind turns to his long dead wife and children, killed by Orcs during the ruinous civil war. With a finger, he wiped away a tear. Lance stood up and screamed, "TAQWA!!! "You have nothing to fear if you speak the truth Daniella." They said as Daniella walked through the doors.

Immediately a wave of heat came over her, the room smelt of a strange perfume. The room had a large table on top of it a map of Velmora. There was various homely additions like a small table and a few chairs. A figure stands in the corner of the cave, staring at the water streaming down one wall. He was armoured, the silver metal had the distorted light from the water coming down upon it.

He was a large man, and made black hair, grey and bristly in many places. He had a great double handed sword on his back.

"Sit down Daniella." the figure asks, his voice rather deep and stern, a sound of an old man.

----

Kain began to reach to cave enterance, as he slowly made his way up the mountin. He worried for Daniella, if she had made it yet, if she had got past the guards. He continued on, and faded into mist to get past the guards which had replaced the others.

He looked upon his people for long seconds, those who would fight Jarrid. They where either too old or too young. They where irregulars, nto capable of fighting in true combat. Some of them wore patches of different coloured clothing due to scraps and tears in skirmishes. One had a bandage of one eye, which had dry blood upon it. These youngers had seen war and battle, seen thier freinds and family die. They where not going to give up any time soon.

Kain slipped past them in fog form and went downwards to look for Daniella....he was seen by the other two who where watching....

Lance Crusade descend from the cliff and walked calmly into the mountains, gripping his sword. His mind was a blur, as he thought about his lost homeland...
04-11-2003, 18:01
Haplo watched this person, the way that he moved, the things that he wore. Another stranger? Or another spy? Who the hell where all these people? Haplo thought to himself as he stayed in his hiding place, his arrow drawn and ready to fire, as where the others bows.

Lance had the feeling that he was being watched, but he wasn't sure... Increasingly wary, Lance drew his sword and strapped onto his arm, his shield, ready for battle. Lance loosened his cloak and let it fall to the ground, and began to walking warily on the balls of his feet. Overhead, the clouds began to cover the moon, as a rainstorm began to build up.
04-11-2003, 18:10
Haplo readied the arrow to go into flight. The rain pattered down onto the trees, making him slightly moist, but he remained consentrated. He aimed the bow into the sky and released the arrow as it flew high into the darkening clouds.

"Halt! Who goes there!" Haplo said to the man, as the rain gentle hit the leaves above him. The grass swayed some mroe within the breeze, it grew cold.

Lance stopped and crouched into a defensive position, his shield up. The arrow thudded into his shield. Lance, although shocked by the presence of others, gathered his wits, and rolled behind a small tree. Lance hears the voice of a man and decides that he should respond.

"My name is Lance Crusade, the former Duke of Cala of the Aza Empire, which is now the Five Civilized Nations... I am a wanderer through the lands, but a stranger to these parts. Where am I?"
04-11-2003, 18:29
The arrow went into the shield and shook him to his very core, tremors going through his body. A spell had been cast upon the arrow to cause the target to vibrate. It was not very powerful, a far worse and pwoerful spell culd have been cast.

"You are in Velmora the damned land now! Leave now, you enter a battlezone to which civil war ravages!" haplo cried, and stood up. He was within one of the trees, dressed in a green cloak which blended into the leave colours. He was in his thirties and had purple hair, which was cut short. He had a tattoo on the lef thand of his face, dark green patterns of a magical nature.

"I have come from a Civil War... I do not care if you do not allow me to pass... You are fools to try to stop me."

Lance dropped his shield and begins to spin into the air, creating a massive whirlwind... His sword begins to glow a bright light.

The figure slides silently down the face of the rock, landing silently in front of the cave. Dressed in a black cloak, few clues to race are given, except for the long tail that seems to have a mind of its own, swaying back and forth behind the figure. The figure hisses slightly with each breath, seemingly tense and ready for battle at a second's notice.

Daniella sat timidly at the table. She pulled her hair away from her face, and loosened the chain of her cloak, letting it fall off her shoulders. She was wearing a simple dress underneath.

“What do you want of me?” Daniella asked, not letting fear enter her thoughts or mind.

OOC: Haplo?, HAPLO?, Did you read The Death Gate Kain?. Is that Haplo the Patryn?. I LOVE that character, and I have extracted several ideas from that series of books. I'm a fan of Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman!.
04-11-2003, 23:09
(OOC I would not dream of trying to rp that character, I love him too much to do discredit to him. I simply used the name. I have read all the death cycle books yes, and they rock. And a great number of the Dragonlance done by them, Frizban and Zifnab lol. God you gotta love the Patryns(sp). Nice idea though...I might make a nation of patryns....or something :D Anyway...)

(OOC This is to do with Daniella.)

"It is not what I want of you. It is what you want of me? Why are you here? I hear things of you knowing Kain Brightblade, after he dissappeared here....what do you know?" The man asked, still looking at the water stream down.

---

Haplo looked on as the spell was cast. He obviously did not know who he was dealing with. He began to chant a dispel, as did the other five hidden men. The chanting caused a minor tremor in the ground as a sideffect.

"Cease this traveler! Be on your way! Leave us be!" Haplo cried as the blue enrgies of the dispel caught hold around him.

(OOC These people are pretty darn powerful, and there are six of them casting the dispel together.)

As they cast thier spells, no-one noticed Whiptail fall down, he was allowed down the tunnels....still there where peopel walking around and living down there, it would be hard to remain hidden.

Whiptail flits like a shadow down the tunnels, keeping his keen senses alert for ambush. A clawed hand gripped one of the katanas that he kept on his back, but he didn't draw it. He continues noiselessly down the tunnel.

Whiptail continued down the damp tunnels, the occasional person passing byiptail simple hid within the many places, other small caves which all the inhabitants where asleep, or occupied.

Whiptail finally came down to a long part where there wher eno other tunnels branching off, he was getting closer. He heard water crashing downwards, and a few guards talking. It was Khalid and the others.

They where talking about trivial things, thier longbows still armed and ready to shoot at a moments notice.
04-11-2003, 23:39
Whiptail notices them, and conceals himself in a shadow, drawing a small throwing knife from his belt. Drawing a katana would have made too much noise. He waits, hoping the guards will move on.
05-11-2003, 00:49
Daniella sighed. She was tired, and would need blood soon.

"I first met him when he came to my palace. I was once the Queen of Daniella. As the queen, it was my duty to marry. I was forced to host a party for finding a husband. He came, and offered me freedom. At the time, I didn't accept, but I've always been open to the idea. Our paths split. Then a little time passed, and a great war between humans, angels, and demons began. I felt Kain there, and I went to help him. I did, to a point, but then I was wounded. He gave me a choice, the life I have now, or death. I chose my life, and have not regretted it since."

She took a breath, and laid back against the chair. She was becomming emotional.

"We have been together through hell and high water. I love him. I know little of his past, but I know he came to help you free Velmora. I ask that you listen to him. Kain has become wiser, and different, since he left you, but he ..."

Daniella broke off yet again.

"Do you even understand?" She asked sadly.
05-11-2003, 17:23
B'jorn sighed. He turned, hsi tierd and aged face revealing themselves to her.

B'jorn was around fifty, he was a hardened warrior, the numerous battle scars upon his face, his grey hair in places revealed of his age. He seemed wise, he had the same kind of aura like Kain, he remained calm and collected.

"Of sorts....this is a great deal to take in...You say he is alive and coming to help us? If this is true we have much to rejoice....where is he? Do you know?" B'jorn asked, the water distorting the light upon his weary face. He looked like one who held much battle experiance, and knew the grim realities of life all too well.

(OOC This is slightly beforehand)

Whiptail held the dagger within his scaly hand. Watching the guards speak about things....He only wished they would leave, to move their posts but they did not. Whiptail gripped the dagger more firmly, his presance still within the shadows, his eyes focused on the one called Khalide.

Whiptail was about to act when someone familer put his cloven hand on his shoulder. The vampire behind him sent telepathicly, his voice deep and calm. The familer voice of Kain.

"There is no need for such weapons. Why are you here?" Kain asked silently, his green body with him in the shadows. The guards had no idea that they where there, as the two figures spoke silently to each other.
05-11-2003, 22:01
'I tracked the scent of your kind for several days, finding only a female. She is familiar-looking, and I figured that you would be close by. I have things to discuss with you.'

Whiptail knows who the being behind him is, few people knew him by name, and fewer people had such talons apon their hands. Whiptail slid the small knife back into his belt.
05-11-2003, 23:16
Daniella looked into the kind face, tears comming to her eyes. She was losing it.

"I ... I don't know! I love him! I ..." She stopped, takeing a minute to compose herself. "Look, I'm going to be frank. His appearance is not what you think. When you see him, you won't believe it. But you are a majic people. Trust the instincts."

She thought how dirty she must look, how messy she must appear.

"I hate to sound rude, but ... (she racked her brain for an excuse) ... I am so weary from traveling. Is there a place for some privacy? I am in need of rest."

And blood. she reminded herself.
05-11-2003, 23:38
What things friend? Kain asked, remaining within the shadows.

---

"I am sorry, these harsh times have made my manners low. I suppose we can trust you, I am sorry but you still need to be under guard outside your room. You must understand, we are constantly under threat....Still I wonder how you mean by, his appearance....still, we shall speak later." B'jorn says and leaves the room gesturing for her to come with her.

They both leave, and Khalide and the others salute and follow him. They began to walk up the tunnels, there where so very close to Kain and Whiptail! B'jorn's armoured form came up, the sounds of his armour being heard up the tunnel.

---

"Not now! Make yourself scarce!" Kain dissapeared in fog speaking to Whiptail as he did so, and sank into the nokes and crannies of the floor, barely noticable.

"Now would not be a good time to make our presance known, they would not react kindly." Kain said silently, as he looked as they made thier way up. There was Daniella! At least they had not killed her....this was going well...

If only Kain knew of what lay in store due to his presance here....
05-11-2003, 23:41
Daniella followed the man. She was still emotionally upset. As they reached the top, Daniella turned to him.

"Your manners are excellent. Thank you very much for your kindness. I hope to repay ..."

She stopped in mid-sentance, looking all around. She felt him.

Kain? Are you close? You are to be welcomed by this man.
06-11-2003, 00:41
Whiptail moved his hands in an odd motion, then disappeared from view. He had cast a chameleon spell, his form seeming to blend with the rock. 'It would have been easier to simply crack him across the head.' He thought to himself.

I am close. The time is not right to introduce myself...not until I have the right time to do so.

B'jorn stopped and turned around, slightly suspicous.

"Something the matter?" B'jorn asked her, he was slightly concerned, and slighty worred that she might pull something.

---

Haplo recovered from this barrage, and stepped backward and aimed another arrow, the tip glowing blue and flame like. The arrow quivered as Haplo was ready to shoot.

"I warn you, we shall kill you!" Haplo said....and then saw something in the distance. He saw a massive group of men coming towards them, thier silver forms marching.

Haplo immediately ran, as did the others aback into the caves. "They are coming!"

Lance glanced out at the advancing army. Unsurprised by the army, Lance strolls towards them his Cala Sword raised and ready for battle. Lance's magic begins to tingle through him and into the sword.

During the war that led to his exile, Lance had faced an army of 100,000 Orcs without flinching and had fought them off, forcing them to retreat. The advancing army was not going to be a problem.

Lance begins to mentally prepare himself for the coming battle. I am the master of the sword... I have learned fought thousands of battles, killed thousands of opponents. I should not fear, fear is the mind killer...

The Cala Sword begins to glow as Lance prepares the ultimate Infinity Swords Technique...

OOC: Just a note... Lance has been infused with the power of the last of the Dragonlords and defeated Omnus Stormrider... Lance was the one who taught Omnus the Infinity Swords Technique... Also, how big is the approaching army and why are they attacking?
06-11-2003, 19:45
(OOC Not exactly a huge one, but a siazable army. It is the other side attacking the rebels. They followed Kain you see.)

The army marched forward, thier ranks are numerous and varied, mages, warriors, clerics, calvary and archers all in thier battle lines arose. They where not paticualry displined, only one unit where really disciplined where the knights, all in thier silver plate mail. They had skirmishers around them, with thier maces and leather armour.

They marched forward and halted towards this person. A armoured figure walked forward, holding a great spear made entirely of silver.

"This is none of your concern! Be on your way, in the name of Jerrid Lionheart!" he proclaimed and the ranks readied thier weapons to charge into the mountins.

(OOC The events of Kain and co. have taken place few minutes before this, just to get the right timing.)

Lance's sword glows the colors of the rainbow as the sword tried to break free of its master control and slaughter the marching army.

Lance's eyes turns gold as the sword's power slowly transforms him into a soulless killing machine. Lance raises his sword over his shoulder and prepares to unleash his ultimate technique.
06-11-2003, 20:22
"I am afraid you have chosen the wrong force to deal with." the guard said.

The entire army readied there weapons and spells. There was no chance. The arrows readied...the swords where drawn, spells where prepared. A moments silence....

"Attack!" the commander creid and a wave of attacks swpet over onto the one person.

The Psi although small in number, a great battle mages. The wizards are the best, and even the warriors can cast spells.

The arrows flew into the sky and all centered onto it's target, thier arrow head blazing blue in dispeling magics which would get through most magical sheild. They formed together to form a single line of constant fire.

Armour reformed and became stronger, glowing a brilliant blue. They charged with frightening speed, the white mages aiding the warriors as they charged, granting them speed and endurance.

And then...where the mighty wizards at the back, thier assorted robes fluttering as they cast their spells. Some aided their allies, some cast great lighting blots onto him, others fireball rocketed into him, others sent pure blasts.

(OOC You seriously do NOT STAND A CHANCE. Seriously....there about 1000 people here. You attack will be dispeled, yes I know that it is immensly powerful, but you are one person. This is an army of essitanlty ALL wizards. I know the army is powerful, but channeling causes great damage onto the land. You cannot defeat this army, you must run if you want to live. You cannot fight this, do not even try.)
Five Civilized Nations
06-11-2003, 21:40
Lance's Infinity Swords Technique easily blocked the attack of the Psi, but Lance through the golden mist that his eyes were emitting saw that the chances of him winning would be very slim. Calling upon the earth, the wind, the water, the fire, and the wind for assistance and channeling this power through an amulet around his neck, Lance causes the air behind him to ripple as a massive creature begins to take shape.

The creature is one of the immortal Storm Dragons of the Dragon Mountains in the Five Civilized Nations. More than 200 meters long, the Dragon was a terrifying sight. This particular dragon was the manifestation of the spirit of the last Dragonlord, Azal Telas, who after he died, pledged his spirit to the protection of Lance, the Duke of Cala.

I should have made sure you sent me a t-gram with what you where going to do....This is just stupid. Seriously, I did not plan this, and you see why I said T-gram me, and why this is not open? "No, I just felt some .. some strange presence. I felt like an old friend was near ..."

Daniella did not lie to the man. She saw he was not to be messed with.

"Alright....come on." B'jorn said, thinking about it. He felt something wierd too....like someone else was near.

They walked up the tunnels a short while until there was a small private cave with a door on it. B'jorn opened it, the lighting was pretty dark.

He opened the door, and the sparse cave greeted Daniella. It was pretty small, it had a make-shift bed and a mirror on the wall. It was quite confortable compareed to camping outside, but it was neither luxurious. It had the very basic of things. And considering it was a small cave, it was suprisingly warm. There was a small glow lantern, magically powered. It gave off a pale blue glow over the room.

"I am sorry, but in these times I must be very cautioned. I will have to place guards outside your door, not that you would do anything."

B'jorn smiled and slowly closed the door after him.

(OOC The army has not come yet. It is about to. Just have to get timing right. Daniella once insde for a little while can feel Kain.)

B'jorn walked off and ordered two guards outside her door. B'jorn was very troubled, he had to make plans. They had relied on being secretive and hidden, Jarrid never knew where they where located. The caves where many and vast, and magics had been cast to hide.

But this screcy would not last due to Kain....
07-11-2003, 12:41
Daniella thanked him, and walked inside. When the door was shut, she moved to the mirror, in disgust of what she saw. She filled a bowl with water from a pitcher, all on a little table, and carefully picked up a rag. She cleaned the dirt from her face, and let her hair down, gently clensing it with the cloth.

She then took off her pouch from her back, and set it next to the table. Daniella took her cloak and hung it on a small wooden peg. She took a vile of blood from her pocket and drank deeply. Then Daniella moved to lie on the bed.

Kain, where are you? I fell you. I think he did, too ...
07-11-2003, 13:54
I am here. Kain said from behind her quietly. He formed behind her and smiled.

"I am glad you are alright. Did you have any problems getting to him?" Kain asked.
Five Civilized Nations
07-11-2003, 14:09
The new day opened, with Lance Crusade lying on a cliff. The singes on him were healed and his clothes had been replaced. Lance woke up and propping himself up against a ledge began to watch the rising sun. He felt and found his Cala Sword. Lance had forgotten everything as he had been under the influence of the Golden Cala, a powerful amnesia that only affected the House of Cala, which caused the person to become an unstoppable force...

Standing up, Lance groaned in pain and began to rub his sore spots...
07-11-2003, 20:38
Daniella didn't sit up, but smiled. She knew Kain would see her.

"I am safe. He is a cautious man, but I think he trusts me."
07-11-2003, 20:45
"Hmmm. I shall make myself known." Kain agreed, and stood up to a darker point of the cave and faded slowly.

A knock of the door, as B'jorn knocked on it.

B'jorn knocked on the door, he needed answers. He needed answers to other questions...questions everyone in Velmora had been asking for all this time since Kain had been away.
07-11-2003, 20:52
Daniella walked to the door and opened it.

"Good. You're the one I wanted to see!"

Much to his suprise, Daniella grabbed him and pulled him in, closing the door.

"Sit on the bed. I've got someone you need to speak with here. Kain?"
07-11-2003, 22:28
B'jorn was sent inside the room, spluttering. "Who...what do you mean?" he demanded as the door closed. B'jorn looked at Daniella for an explanation, then saw who was behind her. Daniella took a step away, to allow B'jorn to speak to Kain.

B'jorn knew it was him deep down, but he had to know. There was simply a shadow where Kain was, a black form. His eyes where revealed, thier brown depths segmented and swirling.

He stepped forward to see Kain more, slowly. "I...Is that you Kain?" he asked cautiously, almost afraid of the truth.

A long pause and the shadow moved forward, and revealed himself. He revealed who he was, who he had been. His green flesh...his cloven talons....his white hair...

His fangs.

"Indeed, it is I B'jorn. It has been a long time, and much has happened." Kain said deeply, but softly. He made no move towards B'jorn, he allowed him to think.

B'jorn took a step back at the sight of this...he had not expected this! This was far too much! Kain had turned into a monster! A beast of the night! He had heard of such things...vampires. Evil beings who fed upon the innocent. He looked to Daniella, his eyes imploring to her for some kind of rational explaination.

But then....he saw what she really was. A vampire. He backed away, and drew his sword in frightened defence to these things.

"What are you creatures? What have you become Kain if you really are him!" B'jorn said, his sword pointing at them both.

"Calm down B'jorn, please...please let me explain. As I said...a great deal has happened."

B'jorn simply stood there, fearful of these things, ready to defend himself.

Kain wondered if he had changed that much, it hurt. It hurt that one of his best freinds with this appearance would deem him evil. Perhaps I have become evil....

No! Stop thinking like that. He will understand.

"Allow me to explain...just...remain calm B'jorn." Kain said and made a small step towards B'jorn. Kain looked at Daniella.

"Daniella...lock the door. So we are not disturbed B'jorn." Kain instructed.

(OOC B'jorn is not near the door.)
07-11-2003, 22:32
Daniella nodded and moved to lock the door. She turned to the old man.

"I know this is hard to take, but we have a plan. Listen to Kain. Please!"

Whiptail remains hidden, keeping a hand near the small knife.

'I have recently come across a different kind of Argonian, calling himself 'Smokescale'. This 'Smokescale' attacked me during my wanderings, chattering ceaselessly in gibberish as he attempted to beat me to death with some sort of anchient softskin weapon. I managed to drive him off. He chattered something about 'Foehunter' as he disappeared. Stealth is his speciality, he draws his name from the ability to vanish like smoke in the wind.'

Whiptail's thoughts floated to Kain, and he waited, not daring to stir a muscle.
07-11-2003, 23:00
B'jorn lowered his sword a fration, the gleaming surface of the pure silver reflecting the magical lights. He remained hard faced but listened to what Kain had to say.

"Much has happened to me B'jorn, but I have come back to help B'jorn. I see there is much strife here. I am here to set it right." Kain said to B'jorn, explaining.

"But why did you leave in the first place?" B'jorn asked.

"We have not much time, it would be easier this way." KAin said and placed a cloven talon upon his head. B'jorn understood and did the same. Kain granted him knowledge of all that had happened to him. Kain's eyes flickered, the memories dying and being born being shown to B'jorn. Slowly, B'jorn understood.

He was left speechless. It was so much to take in. He was kleft there not knowing what to say....he put away his sword. He did not know what to say.

He had seen all what had happened within a few seconds. B'jorn knew all of what Kain felt....

"I...I don't know what to say..." B'jorn said.

"Don't say anything freind. Don't say anything."

"Now...now we can actually win! We can do this! We have a plan already in operation, but we simply had not enough men or weapons. We might be able to pull this one off with your help!" B'jorn said, Kain already knew of what he spoke of. The exchange of memories told him of all that had happened. He sighed and nodded.

"Yes, but at he cost of many B'jorn. Many innocent lives, of our side and thiers. It is a high price to pay B'jorn...." Kain said sadly and slowly.

"I know, but we are willing to die for the freedom of Velmora. This all relies on you Kain. We will make a direct attack upon them. As soon as th-" B'jorn was stopped mid sentance by a naging on the door.

"We are being attacked!" A guard cried, and preparations for combat where heard outside...
08-11-2003, 17:01
Daniella watched silently.

"Kain, what are we going to do?" She asked when the attacks began.
08-11-2003, 17:30
"But...how could they have known where we where? Unless...." B'jorn trailed off as and explosion went off on the surface.

"Damn! They must have followed me!" Kain swore and grew frustrated and himself.

"Its alright Kain, you could not have known....We will defend you while you two escape." B'jorn said to Kain as he opened the door. The sight of paniced people running upwards greeted them, along with the sounds of conflict.

"What? No! I will stay here and help you B'jorn!" Kain said getting scloser to the door, drawing the Brightblade.

"You are Velmora's only hope Kain. You can defeat the Seer with that weapon, none of us can! And no other person can use the Brightblade effectively....Dammit Kain go! We will cover your escape! Go down the catacombs. You know where it is Kain." B'jorn said, looking at KAin hard.

Kain did not like this one bit. He wanted to help them, to save them. But he would have to allow them to die at the hands of Jarrid...

"G..Goodby old friend. Thank you...." Kain said, and put his hand on his shoulder. They both smiled and hugged for the last time.

"Go on Kain..." B'jorn said, and Kain did not hesitate. He ran outside the door and started running towards B'jorn's quarters.

"Come on Daniella!" Kain said as he ran down.

"Run Kain! Run damn you!" B'jorn said, filling with tears of anger and frustration. He watched them both run and he stood there for a few peaceful seconds, staring at the sword he was holding.

B'jorn sighed, and knew he would not survive this...

"Come on then you bastards!" B'jorn roared as he began to go upwards, adding his bestail warcry to the sounds of dying and conflict above.

The entire cave structure shook as a spell exploded...who knew what was going on up there.

----

"Incoming!" Haplo cried as he dived for cover. A massive fireball crashed into a group of men, thier screams heard by everyone. All around there where dying, the fighting, the spellweaving.

Haplo brought his bow up and aimed at a loyalist mage, who was chanting something, the sparks of electricity brewing up. He released the arrow, and said a word.

The mage was too deep in the chanting to do anything, he felt the shaft of the arrow go deep into his throat. He looked upwards at Haplo, and gurgled blood before he fell, dead.

Haplo looked around at the maddness around him. All around him there was fighting. Another fireball crashed down, scorching the earth. A thousand arrows flew, multiplied by magic, only to be dispeled and turned into jets of flame by B'jorn's forces and turned against them. Warriros used magic to guide thier blows, each combat was hectic. This was no normal sowrd play, this was a intricate and highly complex game of death.

Haplo drew his sword, he had no arrows. He chanted, and a crystal set of armour came around his body, protecting him. He bellowed a war cry and charged into a silver armoured figure who had just slammed his massive two headed axe into a body to kill it. The man was covered in blood. He ripped the axe out of the bodies ripcage and gritted his teeth as he came toward's the lightly armoured Haplo.

They circled, Haplo looked into those eyes. They where experianced...

Haplo jumped into the air at a great height, aided by amgic and slammed his sword down, casting a spell which would electricute the enemy upon contact. His opponant responded with a earthen spell, he made his body like rock and brought his axe upwards.

Haplo took the full force of the blow, and was slashed on the legs. Haplo tumbled onto the floor, screaming in agony as the magic of the sword took effect. His legs began to burn with acid, he screamed and treid to dispel it as it erroded his flesh.

He was successful, but it was too late. His legs where a bloody mess...Haplo looked up at the hulking bloddy form of his opponent. Haplo saw a flash of silver and crimson of the axe, before he was decapitated mercilessly.

The battle raged on, it was obvious that B'jorn's forces where losing, they where begining to flee back into the caves, to try and fight them there....the land became bloody and barren due to the huge amount of channeling occouring. If the area had been quiet, the earth would have moaned in pain.

(OOC Sorry for younger readers, but I must say how vicious and bloody this combat it. I could have gone much deeper into it...but I thought it best not to.)

Daniella stood there in shock, her eyes filling with tears, not moving until Kain grabbed her arm and pulled.

Kain took her down the tunnels, rushing to get out of here. He ran to the lower tunnels, the slippery surface did not effect Kain due to his cloven talons. They went down, the two almost fell when a part of the ceiling behind them crashed downwards, shaking the entire place once more.

"Almost there!" Kain said as he continued down, the sounds of water where heard.
08-11-2003, 18:35
Daniella ran, covering her head, totally trusting Kain. She felt each and every blow of the battle behind tem. It began to slow her down.

---

B'jorn made his way up, the noise of combat greeted him as he went up the tunnels. A group of children cried in a smaller cave to his right, he contnued upwards. Then he met the a small group of defenders. Khalide and Firlen.

"Glad to have you here sir? Your orders?" Khalid asked, his large green shield guarding them. Firlen looked onwards, his ripped white robes covered with blood. He had a silver staff, and he pointed, ready for the next wave. There where the bodies of his freinds and his child son, only eight years old, shot by an arrow. There where many bodies up the tunnels, the sacrifices of men and women who had died defending Kain's escape.

B'jorn looked at Khalide. He looked up the tunnel and heard another wave coming down upon them.

"Kill as many as those bastards! Velmora depends upon Kain's survival!" B'jorn roared as he went to the front, his claymore ready. The two men where stirred by this, and felt couragous. The following battle they placed all their zeal into it.

They came down, two spearmen and one person with a new peice of technology. A machine gun. The person who was holding it could not have been older than 17, his youthful eyes already had seen and participated in many evil deeds.

They agve them no mercy. B'jorn brought his claymore smashing through the young mans breastplate and it tore through him. B'jorn became covered wit the spurting blood as he twisted the blade and said a few words. The young man looked down in horror as he disintergrated, his ashen corpse left there.

Khalid blocked the first spear attack, but magic aided this attack. The attack was a woman, all dressed in purple. She had cast a spell, and Khalid went flying backwards from the force of the attack. Khalide stabbed with his short sword into her mid section, a cry from her as her intestines where ripped.

She in responce opened her mouth a scorched him with a icy breath, freezing the shield and shattering it. She lifted up the spear and stabbed it downwards into his chest as Khalide tore upwards with the blade. They both collapsed, both dealt a deadly blow the other, as the spear slided into his heart past his ripcagem guided by the enchanments upon it.

Firlen chanted and sent great leaping bolts of lighteing towards the spearman and machine gunner who charged towards him. the bullets flew towards him, hitting him in the leg and chest. He responded with his spells. They never stood a chance, Firlen was a powerful mage. The man screamed as he was shocked, and dropped his spear. He collapsed as his body still convolced. Firlen looked at his wounds as they bled, but it was nothing critical. His breathing was hard though, he thought it might have punctured a lung.

B'jorn looked back at Khalide, expecting his freind to be standing. He was not. "Khalide....damn! Fall back!"B'jorn barked as they walked backwards.

A second wave came down upon them, these where better troops. An archer, one heavily armoured paladin and a mage.

The paladin roared as he charged towards B'jorn. B'jorn exchanged hard blows with the man, each blow creating sparks as each casta spell which was dispeled by the other.

Firlen chanted as a bolt of white energy tore towards him, crackling. He unwove some of blast, the rest crackling around him harmblesly. The archer fired and added his attack, and said a word.

He could do nothing to stop it. The arrow flew into him and went striaght out, going through his chest, adding another bleeding hole. He crutched at his chest gasping for breath. he felt blood coming up his throat. He pointed his fingers at them both and ushered a final spell. Blue enrgies swirled around him and he fired thousands of rays towards them both destroying thier bodies with a sharp crack. He collapsed, bleeding from the mouth.

B'jorn looked at his ally dead. He went into a beserker rage. His blows drove down with such force that it hthreatened to smash his opponents axe. He brought it down upon his enemy so hard, that the silver blade of the axe shattered, and the claymore continued to pass through the enemies body. B'jorn speok a word and it traveled as though the man was never there. It went straight through him, he stood there for long seconds, before he crumbled.

He fell back more....he walked backwards. He was the last one here anyway. There where other groups, but this was the mainhead quarters. He gritted his teeth, and said a swift prayer as he heard the marching of the enemy coming towards him.

He looked up, his old eyes seeing five silver men coming towards him. He began to chant. As the men charged foward they listened. And only at the final second did they relise what he was doing.

"Run he's goin-" where thier final words as they started to turn around and run. They enevr got away.

B'jorn exploded in white energy, as the blast traveled up the tunnels a fair distance, disintergrating all others up there. The bright blind blinted and burnt all those up there. As the light slowly faded, those at the far back of the tunnel came down and simply saw suits of armour. And one individual cam down, they saw B'jorn's massive silver claymore alone with his armour.

The men charged into the tunnels, as those outside finsihed off the other remaining enemy, as they lied wounded.

"Stop him!" Someone shouted as they saw him casting a spell. Three men started running towards him. A arrow flew towards him, accurate and guided by magic. It divided into ten, as eleven arrows rocekted towards him. The other two had a spear and a mace, thier silver forms clanking up to him.

Lance spotted the several men laboring up the slope and disregarding them, unleashed his Solar Blast at the backs of the army. A massive firestorm of solar energy lances out at the army. Meanwhile, Lance sheathes his sword and leaps towards the enemy, eager to do battle.
08-11-2003, 20:52
Lance leaped backwards when he felt the powerful explosion...

That was a powerful explosion. However unleashed is a very powerful fighter.

Lance gripped his Cala Sword and began to descend slowly towards the back of the Velmorian army. Lance wanted to follow the Velmorians and see what in the blazes they were doing...

A deafening warcry echoes through the tunnels and caverns as Whiptail makes his presence known, dropping down amoungst the attackers. With an eerie metal-on-metal sound, he whips the pair of katanas from his back. He growls angrily, his bloodlust rising rapidly in his veins. 'I shall drink today, after all.'

"You will go no further." His golden eyes become hard, slowly turning to a deep shade of crimson. Whiptail assumes the ready stance for his Fury of Darkness style, curling his tail to strike.
10-11-2003, 01:49
Daniella shook. The energy killing the men and women, not to mension children, had a different effect than the natural ways, and she was draining. She stopped, puked out the blood she had drank earlier, and trued to keep up with Kain.

She had no energy to talk, so she used telepathic thoughts.

Kain, promice me if I don't make it, you'll keep going.
10-11-2003, 17:34
You are not going to die! Come on, we are so close to the end! To escape! Kain said telepathicly, looking at her pale face. She looked sick, her breathing was shallow, and she looked in mental torture.

Kain looked at her and closed his eyes for a moment. This was getting to much for him...all of this. The way everyone he cared for was dying around him. Rave was going to die if the prophasy held true....Alexander and Cassandra died.....many of his freinds...possibly his old family had died here.....B'jorn his best freind had died defending him...and now this?

"I have already lost so much! My mortality, my vision, my independance, my ability to defend myself, my brothers and sisters fighting up on that field and I am not going to lose you!Never!" Kain looked into those eyes, his own eyes telling of his resolve and determination. He pleaded with her to carry on.

(OOC Obviously, he means his brothers and sisters as his people)

---

Whiptail fell down, looking up the gloomy tunnels for the next wave amits the explosions which shook the entire caverns, great clouds of dust coming up. He looked forward, getting intoa combat stance, taking a practice swipe with his katana. They where perfectly balanced, thier edges sharp and ready to slice any foe which would come his way. They certainly did.

A cry of charging troops came, as three guards flooded in, thier weapons drawn. They hesitated for a few seconds, looking at this scaled being. They did not know what to do. Was it friend? Was it foe?

The hestiation disipated as the shorter man, swathed in tight clothes, the outfit of a thief it seemed, threw two silver knifes at Whiptail expertly, the edges of the kinfe glowing white. If one should hit, it would cause Whiptail to slow down. The second guard brandished his spear and stood in front of his comerade, his face grim and ready to do combat, his tierd and aching body fed on by adrenaline.

The third remained at the back, his presance was gloomy and myseterious. But Whiptail could see within the dark, and saw him for what he was. He was a mage, and he was speaking low words of the spidary words of magic, moving his hands in arcane patterns. His green robes began to flutter as the spell was cast.

Whiptail was facing skilled troops...and they where numerous and still coming down those tunnels.

(OOC This is before B'jorn does the explosion.)

Suddenly behind Whiptail, Kain bursts out of the door, dragging Daniella along.

Whiptail come on! Get out of here with us! B'jorn will cover our escape! Kain said telepathicily as he feld down the tunnels to get to the catacomes.

The hellfire cascaded towards the rear of Jerrid's troops as they piled into the tunnels. A moment passed before an explosion took place, burning and incinerating anyone inside. People screamed out of the blaze as they burnt away. (OOC If you are easily disgusted etc, do not read next paragraph)

The smell was god awful, the moans of those in agony filled the area, as well as the crackling of the now blackened land. You could hear the sound of crackling fat, as it spat off the corpses, thier charred remains left with groetesque throwes of death. Those who where away from the blast area, moaned and screamed as thier felsh began to melt, one poor person walked around, blinded as they slowly collapsed as their musles simply oozed away. It was god awaful to see, many younger people simply stared at the horrors and fell to thier knees weeping for thier freinds who where dead or in agony. This was an inhumane war...magic had a serious toll upon these lives.

But revenge filled many of the people, as a great deal stormed towards him, hate filling them. Many walked around dazed, bleeding and recovering as they cast spells upon themselves and thier allies. But none resorted to raising the dead...that was one thing no-one, not even Jerrid himself would consider.

Great columns of black smoke filled the air, choking and filling the lungs of many, as they hacked upon the ground trying to find some air to breathe.

As Lance pulled out the arrows, with great slef disicpline, he almost fell to his kness in pain, due to the blue glow upon them. Two small patches of blood came up, as it seeped out of the wounds.

The first soldier roared as he attempted to bring his mace down upon Lance, the mace trailing with red energies as it ignited. Lance simply sidestepped against the amaeture and sliced his stomach open. The man looked in horror as the momentom of his charge increased tha damage, as she watched as some of his guts splitting out. He looked horrified, trying to keep them in. Lance stabbed into his back, and ripped upwards killing him as his limp body slumped to the ground with a sicking sludge.

The spearman was more cautious. He spoke a few words, magical energies swirling around him, their colours a light blue colour. His silver amour began to increase in size and had no weight to it. The soldiers spear glowed a brown colour, earth obeying his command. He tore a great column of earth to rip towards Lance, the earth going upwards them back into its original position. The earth launched a discaded sword high into the air, and landed a few seconds later with a thud into the ground, as it vibrated.

The knife thrower threw five kinfes into the air in quick succession, they began to spin around him in quick succession. He closed his eyes and chanted, his black clothes swathed around him. The knifes span around him and the knife thrower porceeded to send the knifes towards Lance, avoiding his allies, aided by magic.

The thrower kicked the last knife, inbuing it with a great physical force which would send him onto the floor, stunned. It had a green streak to it as it flew like a heat seeking missle like the others had, going in different directions.

The Dark Argonian warrior nods, then pulls a small sphere from his cloak with his tail. He shouts again, then hurls the object at the nearest wall. The sphere explodes in a blinding flash. By the time the invaders have recovered, Kain, Daniella, and Whiptail are long gone.
11-11-2003, 01:19
Daniella struggled to keep running. She was on the edge of falling. Daniella wanted to make sure Kain lived, but she was slowing him down.

This would be a good time for a miracle! She called out in mental desperation.
11-11-2003, 13:05
“Well we have one Daniella. Hold on just a moment.” Kain said and walked away from her. They were at the end. It was a room with no doors, no windows, it was an empty store place it seemed, the damp stone was all that was there. A slight cold breeze came from the tunnels, as the three stood there.

Kain stepped forward and took his cloven hand and thrust it into the stone floor, he began to chant. Whiptail entered the room and saw Kain chanting. The sounds of B’jorn fighting up ahead, the sounds of his claymore ringing against steel.

Kain chanted, his words echoing up the tunnels, his deep voice pronouncing lost syllables, the magic working, a large pentagram beginning to form, formed from golden light. It held the words which Kain was chanting, as he spoke them they began to become written in the magical pentagram. It raditated a golden light to the room.

Earlier:
Before beginning to attack the survivors, Lance made a quick prayer to St. Michael, to defend him in battle.

"Holy Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen."

Later:
Lance managed to dodge the first four knives, but the last one hit him in the shoulder. Disregarding the wound, Lance turned towards the earth and stabbing the Cala Sword straight into the ground, Lance began to pray.

"Glorious Prince of the heavenly hosts and victor over rebellious spirits, be mindful of me who am so weak and sinful and yet so prone to pride and ambition. Lend me, I pray, thy powerful aid in every temptation and difficulty, and above all do not forsake me in my last struggle with the powers of evil. Amen."

As he finished, the ground stilled as Lance dissipated the attack. Drawing his sword out of the ground, Lance stared at the spearmen.

"Time to have a taste of your own medicine..."

As he spoke Lance's feet sank into the ground as Lance's inner chi increased. Using his chi and magic, Lance stamped the ground causing a massive shockwave to spin out all around him. (Sort of like a Tauren Chieftain's Shockwave and Stomp all in one)
11-11-2003, 17:13
More men began to flood into Lance, thier numers where fast and many. There where now 16 men upon him, of various skills and professions.

The earth vibrated sending the knifethrower off his feet, along with the mage. the mage's spell was disrupted and a wild array of sparks flew into the air harmlessly. The spearman however forsaw this and cast a float spell upon him, as did others.

They retailated.

A shower of spells where cast towards him, pure blasts of raw magic where sent, arrows flew in great multitudes, multiplied by magic. Four warriors charged in, thier weapons glowing with fiery fury, thier movements at great speeds.

(OOC You cannot really fight these people....You will kill a few but you will die. You have taken FOUR wounds here, which have been aided by magic, you will suffer bloodloss and be less able to cast spells or fight remember)

Kain formed the pentagram, as he did an almsot like dance. He drew the sword and began to spin it, moving the blade in a strange ritual dance. As he did so, the pentagram began to spin, and became more goldern, the entire room bathed in the warmth of the light. Kain remained focused and continued to chant, the sword dancing, the two working together as Kain stepped in sequence to his arcane song.

On a ledge, far away from the battle site, Lance sat meditating to heal his multitude of wounds. Healing salves and patches plastered his ravaged body. Periodically, Lance coughed up blood. OOC: Lance is going to die at the end of this RP from poison. And when is Lance going to meet Kain?
12-11-2003, 19:51
(later, there will be a final showdown. Later though)

kain continued to spin the Birghtblade....slowly his form became blurred, each movement echoed in a half transperant other which followed his every movement. it was very strange to watch, yet so peaceful. The sowrd sparkled as the black blade shined with the goldern light.

Kain's word began more of a constant tune, which was sung by an orchestra.

His form multiplied within itself, the dance in all of it's stages played out by a mirror image of himself.

Step into the circle. Kain said to both, his voice light and worryless like some angel of the heaven speaking to them. Kain continued to move.

For Kain this was bliss, the ecstacy of magic flwoing through his viens, the inner peace to which it provided. Yet he remained focused. His movements where complex as he continued to dance, the sword his partner as he roatated it, and threw it into the air, caught moments later, as Kain continued to move, the Cloak moving with him, a light golden colour.

"I believe that your friend needs help. I will assist him while you perform your dance."

Whiptail leaps into the fray, his twin blades cutting deep into the armor of his foes, his tail striking swiftly, clutching his small throwing knife in its coils. Whiptail moved with an inhuman grace, as if in a trance. Ducking under sword swipes and lashing out with his large feet as he rose, his entire body was a weapon, his katanas and knife were but an extension of himself, moving with the same fluid power that seemed to fill him.

OOC: Um Whiptail, B'Jorn is dead...

IC:

Lance continued to meditate on the ledge, slowly healing his ravaged body. At the ground next to him, the Cala Sword began to glow with bright gold and began to vibrate.
13-11-2003, 20:09
(OOC Five Nations is right. B'jorn went ahead and now he will die. I will simply treat it as whiptail is waiting for Kain to complete the ritual.)

Kain completed the dance of his, the climax met when Kain pointed the Birghtblade towards a blank wall. Slowly, the wall faded and became a white light, a passageway into nothing but white light. Kain continued to point the sword forward and spoke to them. His voice was calm, yet it held much testing, much fatigue. He spoke urgantly as this was thier only chance of escape.

"Enter the passageway!" Kain commanded as he held the passageway open, the Brightblade shining a light blue colour as the enrgies focused and formed the tunnel into nothingless the white tunnel leading nowhere.

And everywhere.

Kain was feeling elation, as he felt immense staisfaction, yet now a new sense came. He was growing immensely tierd...like massive wieghts of pure lead where being held on all parts of his body...his eyes where growing harder to keep open, his body ached. Yet he continued on....

He heard in the back of his mind that B'jorn was chanting...a awful chant which Kain felt a great stab of pain emotionally as he realised what B'jorn.....he was chanting a kamakize spell! It would destroy himself outright!

Goodbye Kain...help Velmora for me...for all of us. B'jorn said to Kain, his final words.

NO B'JORN! DON'T DO THIS!

"NO! Kain screamed as he turned around to go and help his best freind, his childhood freind who was like a brother to him. He tried to sprint to help him, his white hair streaming behind him, his voice bellowing in inner anguish as he knew that his freind would die, and there was nothing that he could do. His one last best freind would die...Kain wanted to save him so badly. He had tears within his eyes.

(OOC Just a hint, hold Kain back, and take him into the tunnel)
13-11-2003, 22:15
Daniella grabed Kain's arm, pulling him into the tunnel.

"Kain, come! You can't save him!"

She was so weak that it took all of her energy, and she nearly collapsed to the floor.
14-11-2003, 18:55
Kain outsreached his arm trying to get free. But something else pulled him into the tunnel. The Brightblade.

Do not let your emotions get the better of you Kain! He is dead, do not let his sacrifce go for nothing! To do so would be selfish! The demon ordered Kain. Kain was going to retort...but he found some sense in it.

Kain went with them...into that white world of nothingless.

This place...it was a pure and complete white. One might have thought that he was totally blind if it was not for the shadows of yourself. It had a marble like floor, cool and hard which echoed when you stepped upon it. It was endless....it went on forever....only this single door was there, and as soon as all three would enter, the door would seal shut. In fact, it was slowly closing now as Kain was half inside it.
14-11-2003, 21:53
Daniella sat on the floor and took a vile of blood from her cloak. She opened it and drank slowly.
14-11-2003, 21:54
(OOC Wait for Whiptail. Please bear in mind that Daniella is empathic and she would be in a great deal of shock. She has just felt, if not fully understanding the true nature of Kain pain. Kain has felt a huge blow as his childhood just sacrificed himself, and everyone else who died. She might be very shaken up)
14-11-2003, 21:58
(I'll take the blood drinking out, but she'll end up histerical. Weak or crazy ... Take your pick.)
14-11-2003, 22:06
(Your choice...but she would not go crazy I think. She would just be really depressed about it because she felt all that suffering and things, she would be really depressed to be sure. It just depends on if you think your character can take it. Your choice)
14-11-2003, 22:24
'Dammit, there are too many...' Whiptail's mind races, his concience torn between his honor and his duty. 'Kain requires your help more than this man.... Go. Go now.' The Dark Argonian warriror lands a high kick in the helmeted face of the man he had been locked in combat with, staggering him back a few feet. 'Run.' A voice called in his head, most likely that of Kain.

"Die with honor, my friend!" Whiptail shouts to B'Jorn as he leaps into Kain's magic circle.
14-11-2003, 22:49
The three stood within this white world, which two of them knew nothing about. The doorway began to close, the last constrast to this constant white. It slowly was swallowed up by the white. Then it was gone, and they where left alone.

Kain began to walk around, angry and frustrated. He was really shaken up, Daniella felt the frustration eminate from him, these deep childhood memories of B'jorn. How the two had a rare relationship, one without boundries one which they could speak to each other about anything. They where like brothers.

Kain remembered all his childhood memories. When they trained together as children, the spells flying around towards each other. That contest lasted hours...and at the end, they where so teird that they both collapsed upon the grass. And they both laughed. They laughed so hard that day....after that day they where inseperable.

Kain remembered the battles against Xzar, how B'jorn was always there, helping him. In numerous times B'jorn had saved his life, as Kain had saved his. And now all that....gone. Gone because of him.

"Why didn't I help them more! I could have saved them! Saved them all!" Kain said in frustration to himself. He raised a coven hand and summoned a lighting bolt and hurtled it with great power and strength towards nowhere, the sharp crackling noise heard for a long time. IT did nothing to remove Kain's anger.

Kain finally fell to his knees and began to weep, his hands in his head.

15-11-2003, 17:02
(Sure. The very first page says about what happened in the past, I suggest you read that first post just to keep clear about the past. Alright here is what has happened...

Kain arrived in Velmora. He went into one of the cities, to see what was the situation. Jarrid has become a tyrant. The people are oppressed and fearful. There is civil war as B'jorn is leading a rebellion. Kain sees a weaponseller almost get caught aiding the resistance. He speaks to them, and talks about what has happened. The two inside that home are married and the guards come for them.

The two make Kain leave, and cover thier escape by sacrificing themselves. The reason why the guards came was because they knew that the two had been giving weapons to the resistance. Kain escaped and the two died fighting.

Kain headed for the caves of B'jorn, and met up with Daniella. This however was a trap, as the guards simply followed him. An attack ensued from Jarrid's forces and part of the resistance fought. B'jorn sacrifices himself for Kain and Kain escapes through a white energy tunnel with Daniella and Whiptail. Whiptail came earlier on in the caves.

I would suggest reading some of the finer points, but that was the gist of it.)

Azari trecked through the terrain. So much bloodshed in Velmora. Her identity was well covered with a long black cloak that trailed behind her. Her blood red eyes darted back and forth. The black hood was pulled over her head. She looked like a wraith, but was much more experianced. Kain, she called to him. She now accepted the responsiblity of them, both outcasts, but Azari only readmitted by engagement to Qui. Her pale face could be vaugely seen, covered in shadow, as many were at that time. Her creator's staff held tightly in her hand gave her rank in magic and clan. I hope I'm not to late... she thought to herself, and her pace quickened.
15-11-2003, 17:55
There was no responce from Kain. he simply did not hear the message. Kain was in somewhere which few did know about. It appeared that Kain, if he was searched for by a skilled mage, would seem to be everywhere.

And nowhere.

The tunnels to which Kain and the others was a starnge and intreging use of magic. It was not a physical tunnel, more of passage ways of magic. Through the correct incantations and manipulations of these forces, one could pass through these viens of Velmora. Few knew if these viens went through other nations, few knew now how to open and closethrough these passageways, let alone travel within one.

OOC: As a spiled princess, Daniella would have never felt so much before. This is her first real experience with men being tortured. Demons do not affect, as they have only one emotion: anger. It will have effected her differently.

IC:
There was one word to sum up what Daniella saw: Hopeless. She let a tear fall, and it ran down the side of her cloak.

Kain ... she called gently.
15-11-2003, 19:05
Kain turned his head to see her, his white hair covering some of his face, the fine strands brushing accross the green flesh.

"W...what is it Daniella?" Kain said slowly, hsi voice shaky. He was trying to recompose himself. He still was extremely angry and frustrated. He just wanted to hide somewhere and sleep away from all of this.
15-11-2003, 19:07
She looked into his eyes, the concern overwhelming even herself.

"Thanks ... You saved me again." She said, trying to pull him back into happiness. "But are you going to be alright?"

I feel your suffering ...
15-11-2003, 19:11
Kain thought about that question. He was in no state of mind to be cheerful or happy. He just needed time to come to terms with all of this...this death.

"Give....just give me some time..." Kain said quietly.

"Never...never have I seen so much death. And from my own peaceful people! Why did this ever happen....I wish I knew...! Kain choked to her through telepathy.

Kain contiued to be upon his knees thinking about all of this. How did it get like this? What moumental occourance made Jarrid do this!
15-11-2003, 19:14
Daniella put a hand on his trembling shoulder.

"I'm here for you, Kain. If you need to talk ..."

Sensing he wanted to be alone, Daniella got up and quietly walked a little ways away, then sat back down. There, she broke out herself and began to cry. as she sobbed, the men's faces who died came to her. She felt their deaths all over again.
15-11-2003, 19:18
(OOC Whoops. My fault, I read it too fast.)

Kain stood up and looked over to Daniella. He saw her crying and got up and walked over to her.

"I know....I know of what you feel....Please....try to forget....I have never in all my years seen such a combat of such a kind...and with my peaceful people! I just...I just cannot believe it. But please...this will all be over soon...whatever the outcome." Kain said to her...trying to be a pillar of strength of some sorts. He needed support himself, but he took in mind what Rave said to him. He understood....it was different now. It was different.

"I wished I never dragged you into this...you should not have seen this. Should not have felt this...like I have." Kain said to her.
15-11-2003, 19:20
OOC: Kain, Daniella walked off ...
15-11-2003, 19:56
Daniella closed her eyes. Tears were still falling. Her breathing was choppy.

"Kain, I ..." She stopped, not able to express herself. The pain was too much ...
15-11-2003, 20:04
Kain could say nothing. There where no words that he could say to make that pain go away. Kain still had trouble coming to terms with it himself. But he pushed those thoughts aside for a time...to deal with the present. He recalled the words of the demon, "Do not let thier sacrifice be for nothing".

"We are safe here Daniella...but I need you to be strong now. For Velmora. For those people. For me. We have to get out of here....but to where I do not quite know yet..." Kain said, looking around this white void.

He had never been in this place before....but he knew of how to open and close it. Never had he been within it like this, without others guiding.
15-11-2003, 20:07
Daniella pushed the pain into her mind, where Kain would not sense it or see it even if he tried. She would feel it still. She stood and nodded, and tried to smile.

"Okay, let's do this."

15-11-2003, 22:12
Azari listened. There was absolutely no response. Either Kain were dead, or she wasn't strong enough to reach him. She had never reached her full potential...all her life could have been. It would have beed had she not been so nieve. She would give anything to go back in time and fix the wrongs that were made. Wouldn't anyone? She attempted to call him again. Kain... if this should fail, she would have a lot of work to do...and must do something she hadn't done for a very long time.
16-11-2003, 02:06
Whiptail was at a loss. He had never had to comfort another, his life had been one of constant death and bloodlust, a cold and empty exsistance. He had ranged far across the lands, away from his beloved homeland, seeking to outrun his personal demons. As he sat, away from the others in deep meditation, his thoughts wandered to his old hut, his five children, and his beautiful mate. The memories became darker as he saw her sprawled on the floor, brutally slain. Darker still were the memories of his five hatchlings, lying dead and bleeding in a pile in the far corner of the hut. The visions came faster now, showing an enraged Whiptail cleaving his way through dozens of warriors, his thoughts clouded with fury and revenge. The images came to a sudden stop as the head of the house elder toppled from his shoulders, as Whiptail's katana sang as it impacted with flesh and bone. The head flew over the house wall, landing in the street. The torrent of painful memories halted as Whiptail was overwhelmed by the Claws of Makaal, as he cut down three of them. He remebered their names, all were good friends and fine warriors: Foehunter, Quickclaw, Morkath. He regretted his actions, and had been cursed for them, but nothing could be done to change the past....
16-11-2003, 12:10
Kain got up himself and looked around at the endless white all around. He stroked his chin and thought on how to accomplish what he wanted. Where would he want to go? There was only one choice...the final choice.

"We need to confront them head on. B'jorn had a new plan now that I am here...and I believe it can still work. There are still forces of B'jorn's, scattered and divided within the mountian places and underground passages. One such force is my own elite unit, which has refused to serve Jarrid and fled. These soldiers...they are Velmora's best and will be the key to this assualt." Kain said and started to walk in a random direction.

"Follow me" Kain said, he had never done this before....

He walked in a steady pace towards a direction, each step creating a loud echo within the perfectly white world. Kain's steps where like a ritual, a pause before each step.

Kain concentrated...he focused upon a destination. The destination which he would know that this force would be, and Jarrid could not access. B'jorn held these troops in reserve in preparation for the final attack, but could never use them due to the ground forces not being in position. Now that Kain was here, these ancient arcane tunnels could be used.

A slim slash of goldern sunslight beamed against the floor from an opening Kain had created, it trickled down, steadyily growing larger as Kain made the exit. Blue skies where seen, flecked with white snow, the harsh winds howling outside like some lost banshee.

With each step they grew closer to the exit, and finally the final step was complete. They where somewhere else.

The enitre land of Velmora they could see from this massive mountain, all of it's complex dotted fields and rivers, and signs of homes and towns. And at the center was a large stone temple, rising into the air, blue energies of the earth hugging around it, spiriling. But these forces where weak now, the one mighty pillar of energy was now only a trickle in comparision. It showed truely of the decay which had occoured.

Kain pointed a cloven hand towards the temple. "Here, is where we shall go to end this maddness. The home and headquarters now of Jarrid's forces, is the temple. It shall not be easy to break through without help. That is why we are here."

Kain looked to his right and walked up the snowy path, the white frozen spots which flew constantly towards them did not chill Kain's flesh, nor it would have frozen Daniellas. Kain did not know about Whiptail's...

Each step left a footprint of his, the three pronged talons of each foot, imbedded into the snow. The three continued up against the wind and the blizzard.

(OOC Think that snowy mountains in LOTR, the best example I could think of.)

Jarrid sighed and reflected upon what the Seer had just told him as he walked out from the Seer Chamber. His robes fluttered around his feet, they where the white robes of a Peacekeeper, not that Jarrid now could truly say that he was a Peacekeeper for all his actions. His steps reverberated through the stone corridor, so different from the interior of the Seer’s Chamber. Jarrid considered what the Seer had just told him to do. Now he began to doubt, but this doubt dissolved when he thought of who they where. The Seer could not be false! They where the guide to Velmora, if they where wrong, Jarrid shuddered to think what might happen.

Truth be it, Jarrid was simply relying upon the Seer for guidance, and the Seer used this fully to their advantage. Kain had left Velmora, leaving this young man in charge. Unlike Kain, Jarrid at that early age could not cope with this new responsibility, and had to rely on the Seer’s guidance more and more. Now Jarrid did not even think for himself, he was a puppet of the Seer’s will. And this has had disastrous consequences for this nation….

Jarrid walked out, his mind buzzing with new possibilities now. With this new knowledge, their army would be unstoppable. He sent a message to his military commanders.

“Begin the process as discussed.” Jarrid said to them. They got to it immediately, breaking decades of teachings and laws in the apparent name of Velmora. How wrong they where, if they truly knew what they where doing….

Happy now, Jarrid walked to his private quarters to ready himself for his speech. He walked slowly into his quarters and went to a wardrobe. Slowly opening the wardrobe and speaking a word, the correct piece of clothing he wanted emerged. He marvelled at his own handiwork upon this material, how it was so fine and majestic, it’s cloth was like no other. Well…there where others.

He looked at this Robe he held in his hands, it was warm to the touch and responded to the hand. Jarrid slipped it on and felt it all around him. It began to change colour…a blue colour. This of course, was a piece of clothing similar to Kain’s cloak. Few did master how to create these objects, it required great skill. Both Kain and Jarrid had, but Kain only produced one in his vampiric time. Jarrid had forged one with the aid of the Seer’s tutelage.

They conversed for a brief time.

How are you today?
I am fine Jarrid, you? A light female voice replied, the Robe had a true personality.
Better than most days Robe. My plan is in motion. This shall be a great day for Velmora indeed.
Of course. You mean the Shadowkeepers?
Indeed. They shall be the key to our success. My success over that accursed nation
ExcellentThe Robe finished, she faked interest and approval. She was empathic to most things now, but she did not know the truth.

Taking his staff off the wall, the golden rod with the unique head which had great power to it. With these two powerful objects Jarrid felt invincible, so sure of his own power. Arrogance was not a factorable trait, one which Kain rarely had, and Jarrid did not have this vice before Kain left. Time had changed him greatly.

He walked out, his Robes fluttering greatly behind him, again with a life of it’s own. The plan was in operation…it would not be long now. Still the “construction” of a Shadowkeeper was a long one. But Jarrid was sure that nothing else faced him. B’jorn was dead. Kain was dead. Both died to the hands of the attacks of his raiding party. Truly, Jarrid thought it was going all his way and Velmora was in a great position, and all the people where praising him.

How wrong he was.

Kain The voice traveled to Kain, startling him. Then he realised who it was and was releved. There was help possibly from a powerful quarter.

I am here Azari Kain said, his location now known. He was up in one of the highest and distant peaks of Velmora. Through this mountain lead directly to another nation, Kain did knew which one it was…and so did Jarrid.
Rave Shentavo
16-11-2003, 16:08
Azari looked toward the mountain peak. "Perfect," she whispered to herself as she looked up at the distant mountains. "Well then...I really should be going..." She held her creators staff high, and disappeared in a blue sparkling flash. Are you alright Kain? How does Daniella fair? It would take her a while to get to the mountain peak, but it was faster than walking. She subliminally thought of why she was doing all of this for him, maybe it was because he reminded her of herself when she was young.
16-11-2003, 22:08
I am coping. As for Daniella...well she is brave, but I feel there has been much pain that she has had to endure, the same pain that I have felt....I only wish I did not have to drag her into this...

Kain said and looked out into the green pastures. He knew that Daniella had come here out of choice, but it made him feel no better for doing it.

16-11-2003, 22:37
Eh... she said as a reply. Don't worry about it. Love can overcome every obstacle...just like Rave and Vaughn... There were something about those exact words that sent chills down Kains spine.
Azari walked out of the shadows to face him, slightly out of breath from the trip. "If you hadn't dragged her into it, she wouldn't be here. And being alive is much better than being dead. It was love that saved her."

(Azari and Rave have totally opposite philosophies, I'm going to try and play of this for the rest of the time :-) )
16-11-2003, 22:48
Seeing the other two slightly startled, Kain wanted a private word with her.

"Can you give me a few moments with Azari?" Kain asked and stopped while they went ahead up the path.

Alone together, Kain looked out, the snow dancing before his eyes, the wind whipping against his insensitive green flesh.

"But...I wonder. Is this unlife better for her? Death might have been a release to this fate...this endless comprise from life and death." Kain said quietly.

Rave's line of thought had gone him done a little, these new questions driving him mad with guilt.
Rave Shentavo
16-11-2003, 22:55
"Every naturally lives to grow. She's not really alive or dead...the undead as often referred to. She'll never grow, her apperance with never change, but her heart may. Becoming a vampire has never stood in my way. If she wants to be the same for ever, never growing...never changing...no hope for a difference...then yes...it was better for her, as it has brought me much power and knowledge. "Maybe her fate was to die...maybe it was to teach you something...that's what Rave would say. I don't beleive in her deep philosophical discussions...enlightenment is not something I want to aquire from her. As far as I'm concerned you did the right thing. You couldn't leave that girl to die....I would have done the same thing."
16-11-2003, 23:03
"Thanks...that has put a new perspective on things...that is a relief that soemoen else would have done the same thing." Kain said and smiled.

He was begining to learn something else. Perhaps Rave was not so perfect? She was a person too...with ideals and different morals. Just because she believed in something, it does not mean it was nessicerily right. Kain kept this in mind, but still revered her as a highly wise person whos advise and views where to be thought of highly. She had existed for so long....perhaps she was right.

No...I cannot start thinking like that. I have my own opinions, she must be wrong in this. Can't she?

"I thank you for coming...but please...if you do not wish to help me in this...do not. I...I have already harmed so many who did not wish to be part of this out of choice...I do not want you to be one more added to that list." Kain said to her, facing her fully.
Rave Shentavo
16-11-2003, 23:08
"Help you?" she asked with a smile. "Of course I'm here to help you. You think that I would ally myself against that bit...woman? Ha! I'll tell you, went the end does come for her I'm not going to be the one to stop it. I feel terrible for Qui...he has no idea what's going on. Marius should really knock some sense into him. Anyway, I will help you in every way possible. You weren't the only ones to be exiled by them. Don't worry about my name getting added to the list...it's already on numerous others." She said with a smile. She looked at her staff. THe black stone on the topp of the gnarled wood seemed to produce shadows rather than absorb them.
16-11-2003, 23:18
"Why does everyone speak of Rave so fatalisticly? It as though she has already died...I wish her no harm even though I am exiled....I understand why I am exiled." Kain said, slightly in protest of this talk of destiny.

(OOC This is getting interesting. Very interesting. Kain still respects and still hold huge respect and loyality towards Rave in comparison....Very interesting. I have to say, this has been expertly done. I am sure this should be written into a book... :) )

"Well," her death will come. If Mephistopheles himself can't defeat her, Mar will. And if he can't Marius will...and if he can't....then she must be a God." She chuckled to herself. "She has avoided death enough...Her time will come."
17-11-2003, 04:04
Daniella sat in silence. She kept reliving the deaths in her mind. Her face grew even paler. She was changing, and it was not good ... Her mind dwelt on the evil, and began to setherself to kill every evil force ...
17-11-2003, 13:06
"Why must this come to pass? Who held it preordained that upon a certain day, Rave Shentavo will die fighting against this evil, against Mephistopheles?" Kain asked curiously, wondering who spoke of this terrible ultimatum, who put it on Rave's head. Kain could not imagine what Rave must be feeling, this death sentance.

But still, Kain remained skeptical of this destiny. He hated the idea of being controlled, that every action he took was simply another move of some higher power with this piece.

The bright glare of the rising sun, startled Lance into wakefulness. He had accidently dozed off. Sitting back upright, Lance flexed his muscles and felt his wounds. They were almost healed. As he was about to stand up and move on, Lance observed a hole suddenly appear on one of the mountain and a party of three step out. Lance was shocked by the appearance of others. Quickly concealing himself as he was still recuperating, Lance began to observe the strangers.

Whiptail followed silently behind Kain and Daniella, snow melting instantly as it hit his enchanted cloak. The cloak was a simple, magical garment, not capable of concious thought as Kain's was. The enchantment kept him warm during cold temperatures, and kept the cloak from burning if it came in contact with fire. He tucked his tail up inside of the cloak as he walked, his large feet allowing him to stay more or less on top of the snow.

She thought for a while, then replied. "Well my fiancè is the one who proclaimed the prophect," she added with a smile. "And Qui has never been wrong. I'm beginning to worry though, he's changing...rapidly. He was a son of two vampires...right? Genesis has this crazy notion that he was born before Ravelyn was turned...which is absolutely absurd..." She placed her hand on his shoulder. "Tell me what I can do Kain...anything, and I'll do it."
18-11-2003, 10:04
"Yes..that does sound absurd. Still all of this seems absurd....As how you can help? You have already helped me much. But if you would join me, there is much to do...and my allies who have been sleeping in waiting a time to strike are up here soon."

Kain after Azari had given a responce, they continued up the frozen paths. Higher and higher they went, the hieght was immense. One had to wonder, "How could anyone live up here?". But Kain knew that they would be here. They would not fail him.

They went up for another twenty minutes...the blizzard becoming harsher, the snow beating down each and everyone. Kain used magic upon the group as he leaded to protect them from the force, but the movement was still slow. A large snwoshield was errected in front of Kain, a purple shield which Kain used to move forward.

Then...they where there. They where at the top...a large flat plane of snow atop the mountin. The view was beyond belief, the entire land of Velmora in all of it's chaos was wonderous...one could see everything here. To the right side of the small flat part, was a huge cave opening to which no snow remained.

"Stay here for a moment..." Kain said to them and walked over to the cave mouth....the darkness within was impenitrable. The cave seemed to sink into the land, and presumably there where tunnels leading through the mountain.

It was here to which Kain concentrated upon. He stepped forward and hesitated. But he took another step and waited outside this part. He did nto know what to expect from them...after all, he was deeply changed...perhaps they would see him as pure evil? His company was not exactly seem the holiest...or the ones of good. But still....the beings within the cave where desperate and waiting. They where told that someone was coming. That Kain was coming, and he was changed. Still....would they expect this?

Kain readied himself and waited for long seconds and began to converse with the many beings inside. Everyone could feel that there where ancient and powerful beings within that cave....but what? Not even Azari could detect what they where...without getting closer.

(OOC Right. Quick overview what happened when Kain and co. was in with B'jorn. Simply put, Whiptail, Daniella and Kain escaped through the magical passages which Kain opened. They entered inside into a nother dimension, where space was different. They traveled quickly to the frozen peaks of the mountains at the edge of Velmora. Azari, a powerful sorceress and once an exile of the Shentavos, like Kain, (only readmitted due to a marrage with Qui Shentavo) is helping Kain and Daniella. They carry on up this frosty mountain, and reach the top. There is a large opening of a cave going down which Kain is talking to a group of beings within.

Do not worry, your character will easily come into the next part, which will be at the main temple (where Jarrid is).)
18-11-2003, 22:27
Whiptail waited silently, his tail twitching in anticipation. He smelled mortal blood in the cave, living blood. In his hurried flight into Kain's portal, he had not gotten to sample the blood of the Velmoran warriors, much to his disappointment. 'I will control my bloodlust, it is past me...' Whiptail told himself with more than a bit of doubt in his mind.
18-11-2003, 22:58
Kain stared into the darkness...the massive opening of the cave held these people who Kain was speaking to.

"So you see....I am he who was he once before, who ruled this land, Kain Brightblade. I wish to set things right as it was before...before I left this land. Forgive me wise beings, I had no other choice but to leave this place. But...I now realise that I am needed still. Would you aid me? Would aid Velmora in it's our of need?" Kain asked into the gloom.

There was silence, all but for the wind which howled outside. The beings within the cave discussed it silently, thier huge eyes visible, the silver slits which where....in the middle of the massive cave enterance!

"Time can never be turned back, never again shall Velmora be like as it was when you ruled. But there is much to be saved still. We shall aid you and those who you keep in your company." A great voice responded, it's rumble was extremely loud, one from a massive voicebox. It was female voice, one of much power and wisdom.

Kain bowed and simply said "Thank you, thank you all. Truelly you are the protectors of this great land."

"It shall be great Kain with great struggle, it shall be."

And the great female silver dragon stepped forward. Truelly, the sight was aew inspiring...the great silver plated dragon towered over them. And then behind her came smaller ones, but still impressively large. It seemed that the cave mouth went deep into the mountian.

Silver dragons where kind tempered and had a logical, yet compassionate senseibility to them. Fiercily territoral, they had been in deep slumber...they rested within the frozen mountains during summer.

The strongest dragons bent thier necks down so that the dragons could be mounted. A great male awaited Azari, Whiptail had a male also and Daniella had a female dragon awaiting her. They where large, but Kain rode the largest, obviously the leader of the dragon pack.

Kain got onto one of thr dragon slowly and carefully and gripped on.

"There is not a moment to lose. Already...an attack is in preparation!" Kain said to them, he had already given out orders to the remaining ground forces who where in other bases.

(A page from Kain stuy of Silver Dragons, of course assisted with magic for the drawings. The female in the group is the largest and the most elderly, and it the largest in the diagram. There are about elven other dragons in thier number, around sub-adult age. The young dragons do not go.)

OOC: Do I jump down and join you guys... Or am I waiting at the temple?
19-11-2003, 17:57
(OOC You can jump down if you wish)

Kain got on top of one of the dragons...feeling the cool silver scales on his cloven hands. He had not ridden on the back of a dragon for quite some time. The dragons had prepared for thier arrival, they had saddles and intrestingly...a silver lance locked into it. The saddle provided support to the dragonrider, when the dragon barrel rolled or the like the user would not fall out or feel the sensation of being upside down due to runes upon these saddles.

The lances where magical ones, fine runes accross their tips. Only truelly effective when used by a Psi, they where still powerful none the less.

Kain issued his plans mentally to the dragons....as they gave him infomation.

"We shall be attacking the temple head on. We will storm the temple when the main ground assualt goes in. Most of the enemy army will be fighting them while we get into the temple to go in an slay Jarrid, ending this maddness. I have to say....if any of you do nto wish to come...I hold you no grudge. This is a great deal to ask...." Kain said to them, the silver dragon looking at the others with its wide silver eyes.

---

Jarrid looked upon his new creations....the Shadowkeepers. There where four of the best in front of him...extremely elite and able. They would be his body guards....they had unimaginable power due to the enchantments they had woven upon them.

They stood...great emotionless beast of killing, thier human forms swathed with black robes which held black armour beneth. They held great deadly sythes thier touch promised death. And they knew how to use them....they had been taught most of thier lives. Thier skill in necromancy was great.

Jarrid was pleased...all was going to plan. The Shadowkeepers where being formed....normal ground troops where being assembled in defence of this pitiful assualt which some rebels where leading....they must be mad. They where outnumbered four to one....they had worse equipment and they where only peasents. Jarrid dismissed this one as a victory, he would not bother leding his forces. He had better things to do.

Still....he wopuld make a speech. he readied himself...he put on Robe and got his staff and headed out into the defence.....

---

Lilioth was nervous as he walked. They where all relying upon a hope of Kain coming with this force he had prepared.

A large army of the Resistance where behind him...al armoured. Some where heavily equiped and ready for war. Others....where simply normal people willing to fight for freedom. To fight for Kain. To fight for Velmora.

Thier numbers where many...around three thousand. Yet this was minisucle to the army which they would face. Almost five thousand stong they where...and that was simply the first defence line if intellegence was to believed. But...they trusted Kain. They knew of the plan....they had all agreed willingly to do this. He recalled his message...

"Good people of Velmora! I have been away for far too long...and my reasons are many and good to which I shall explain later. But I have seen that during my absence, Jarrid has changed. Now...I am asking a great thing here...those who would leave now I shall not consider a coward or a deserter...but...in order for Velmora to be free I shall enter into the Temple to confront Jarrid, and put an end to this. I will be using the dragons...they will be aiding us in this. I shall enter the Temple...but I can only do this with all of your help. Will you aid me?" Kain asked them all.

And one by one....they all cheered and started the journey.....they had all said goodbye to thier loved ones and prayed. They prepared for war as did the defenders.

They set up battle formations and awaited Kain's presance...his force to come down and attack...

Lance thought he recognized one of the strangers and swore colorfully. Believing that he should join the party, jumped down from ledge and ran towards the dragons forming up. Lance stopped in front of the dragon Kain was on and asked, "Wait... You are Kain Irenicus right?"

"Indeed...who might you be?" Kain asked slowly...

"If you are indeed Kain, then I bet that I would be of great service both to you and to this land... My name is Lance Crusade, the 91st Duke of Cala, from the Five Civilized Nations. I fought valiantly during the Civil War, only to be exiled from my homeland. I have wandered the lands, hearing of your name..." Omnus stared intensely into Kain's eyes, "If my service is acceptable, I will help you complete what you have come to do."
19-11-2003, 20:40
Kain smiles. "If you would brave this risks, feel free. There are plenty of these fine dragons for you to ride. We attack the temple...." Kain said and awaited for the others to ready up.

Kain thought about what would happen here. He certainly did not want it like this....all those people down there knew that many of them would die to the hands of Jarrid's forces. They had better equipment and no doubt better training.

Mixed emotions filled Kain. Fear....guilt....anger...frustration...finality...a sense of vunerablity perhaps? Even atop this mighty silver dragon who could take on a hundred men on her own...Kain knew that this battle would be harsh and brutal. He would have to kill his own people.....

This ends. Our bargin shall be ended. You know of what you owe me, and what I owe you.
Of course. I am bound to it, demons cannot break thier vows. This all serves me. Should you die, I shall be trapped forever. I fight for my own freedom by defending you.
Indeed....indeed.

The demon within the sword had a silent talk with Kain. The female elder dragon did not like the presance of the demon sword, it seemed like a thorn in her side...

"I'd perfer not to fly," said Azari, shifting uneasily. "I have my own means of travel."

(ooc: sorry for the short post...i'm lost as well)
19-11-2003, 22:34
(OOC Sorry about that. I shall explain, I shall edit things here and there so that it will become clearer.

Here it is. Kain and everyone escaped from the tunnels where B'jorns forces where. The forces of B'jorn in that area where destroyed by the raiding party of Jarrid's. Victorious, they return back to the main temple, to which Jarrid's main headquarters is. B'jorn is dead.

Whiptail, Daniella and Kain travelled through a strange magical passage. It in fact is best described as the viens of magic running through Velmora. If you know how to go along these strange passages, you can arrive almost anywhere in Velmora. Kain traveled to the frosty mountains with them, to seek out the force which B'jorn was holding in reserve for the final strike.

There are other resistance forces, but the main leader was B'jorn. Under Kain's new leadership, they are going to do what B'jorn could not have, as Kain has the Brightblade.

Azari turned up as the group was heading up the mountain, having that conversation privately. Afterwards, the group headed up all together to the dragons. Kain asked them for thier assistance, and the group of silver dragons accepted. There are about 12 (about) silver dragons who are going.

Are we clear now? Or do you want me to explain what Jarrid has been doing? I will take more time in future. Kinda just wanted this next part ready...because this is going to be a great part me thinks.)

Azari looked at the dragons. She spoke draconic fluently. As a sourceress, she was beleived to be directly related to them. She held her hand on the symbol around her neck. The only other that possessed it was Qui and Ravelyn...but she had long since abandoned their order...or exiled, though she saw it as her choice. She looked at the dragons. She trusted them, but she was not sure if questions would be asked about her, so she decided not to.

Daniella stood quietly. Her mind flashed back to her human years, where she was forced onto a dragon, and taken to her home castle. Where she saw her father shot by her own brother ...

She took a few steps away from the dragons, fearful for the first time.

Azari placed her cold hand on Daniella's shoulder. "You needn't be afraid my dear," she said to Daniella softly. Her hand felt as cold as ice, even to the young fledgling. There was something ominous about Azari in her touch and the way she spoke, that kept others uneasy.
21-11-2003, 12:09
Daniella fought her natural urge to shudder.

"The last time I saw a dragon, I witnessed the murder of the man who loved me ... My father. This led to the death of my lover. Dragons have cursed me, weather purpously or not."

Lance stared at the Silver Dragons in wonder. Although there were dragons that were as big, few were as beautiful.
21-11-2003, 18:42
The dragon looked at the sorceress with interest, fascinated that the being would know it's own tounge.

"Kain would keep wise company I see!" The male dragon replied in it's own tounge. Kain watched interested as the two conversed breifly in the dragon tounge which he did not understand.

"There is nothing to be afraid of child. It is quite safe. Simply fasten yourself in, it is easily done." The dragon said to Daniella in common.

Kain awaited the others to fasten themselves up onto the dragons. He was already lcoked into the saddle magically, which automaticly fastened itself to the rider. A silver lance designed for dragon to dragon combat hunge in it's cradle to the side, which the dragonrider could use like knight upon horseback would.
21-11-2003, 21:05
Daniella got on one of the smaller dragons edging closer to her, and quietly fastened herself in. She was framilliar with dragon riding, but the memories came back, and she began to shake.
21-11-2003, 21:36
Kain could see her distress...he never had any childhood disturbances or phobias, but he kind of understood.

"Anyone who does not wish to go...go. I do not wish anyone here who would not wish to be here. I will admit...there is great risk." Kain said soberly. He realised that any one of them could die....

The dragon he riding upon streached her wings a little, preparing for flight...for combat.
21-11-2003, 21:43
Daniella smiled.

"I'll go where you go, Kain."
22-11-2003, 00:16
Whiptail growls as he mounts the dragon, drawing a katana with his right hand.

"We ride to battle, to die with honor. I shall taste the blood of this 'Jarrid' this day..."

His voice trails off, as he begins to talk in his own language, a harsh-sounding collection of growls, barks, whistles, and chirps.

"Or maybe I will fly," she replied in the common tongue. It lokoed as if this one was in it's prime, and had seen the battle ground. She leapt upon it's back, throwing the harness to the ground. She did not need it to ride. Her hand softly stroked the back of it's neck as she looked at Kain. "After you," she said.

Jarrid surveyed his silver clad troops. He walked along the stone walls, seeing the defences ready. There where great ballista’s which aimed their massive spears towards the camping enemy, great catapults had been constructed , their great forms covered with runes of ingintion to that any bouldar thwon would ignited into flame and act as a horrifying fireball. The ballista would be bolt of lighting into the enemy.

The defenders stood ready, their silver plate mail and rune incrusted swords ready. Mages stood beside them, their staffs ready to rain down torrents of magic against the siege forces. The walls where tense….battle would come soon.

Jarrid was pleased. His staff thudded against the stone floor of the walls, and then he looked at all of his troops. He began to speak to them all.

“These misguided fools have defied the Seer in all that they have done! Their bastard leader is now destroyed, B’jorn the traitor now lies dead. Leaderless the rabble attempts to make one last pathetic attempt to attack the beloved Seer. Shall we allow this to happen?” Jarrid sounded like a mad preacher, completely brainwashed. But so where his forces.

“NEVER!” Replied his army at once, their voice in unison their weapons raised in defiance. Jarrid smiled.

“Then grant them no mercy, for to do so would be to betray the Seer!” Jarrid commanded, which was followed by a great cheer and with added zeal, the preparations for war. Jarrid walked back into the temple, pleased that this is would be a victorious combat, and soon….soon the Seer would be ready to attack themselves onto the lands which had stolen their kingdom!

Five shadowy beings followed Jarrid, their forms black and full of contempt. Their black weapons stood ready to defend their lord, their black plated forms where horrifying to look upon. These where once Psi, now turned into these wraith like beings. They where Jarrid’s personal bodyguards, the newly formed Shadowkeepers, mindless tools of destruction, being which Xzar had used in the first war. Only this time, the technique had been perfected….

---

The rebel army waited for the signal….their weapons ready. They had all said their goodbyes to their familes, made peace with their God. They where all ready to die this day for Velmora, and Kain’s ideals. They where fewer in number, and their equipment was not so good….but they had assurances from Kain that if they simply distracted the enemy that they would free Velmora. But there where doubts….

---

Kain was atop the great dragon, her sparkling form glittering in the rising sun, the silver reflecting off of thousands of plates. He held the lance in one hand, the shield in the other, as he locked them in position. This was it. The ultimatum of this nation. Of Kain.

“We move!” Kain stated and the magnificent dragon to which he rode upon spreaded out her wings in their full span, their beauty immense, the majestic nature of these ancient beings was incalculable. The female dragon ran off the cliff, her form sliding away as she began to fly.

Kain felt the wind within his hair, and it was wondrous. He saw everything below, his white hair whipped behind him, along with his crimson Cloak. His lance sparkled, the entire dragon formation seemed like a thousand glittering suns as they reflected the light brilliantly. Kain headed down, and began to dive….he saw the troops below had begun the assault….

----

They saw the silver forms flying in the air above them then all fear left. They had confidance in Kain...they would do this.

"Charge!"

The first wave of Kain’s forces charged forward, a great surge of manpower and will, spells crackling within the air, a great cloud of conflict upon the area. Their formation was one of a triangle under Kain’s instruction. They charged forward, the mages at the edges casting defensive spells.

A moments silence…then hell. A thousand spells crackled through the air from the temple walls where Jarrid’s forces where, most of which where nullified by the counter spells of Kain’s forces. Lighting, fireballs and ice storms tore through the air, only to dissipate into purple energy with a crackle, a the smell of O-zone.

The war machines of Jarrid bore their mighty payload, as the ballistas fired their massive bolts, they froze as they reached their target. It swept a few soldiers clean, their bodies freezing, their screams barely audible over the chaos. Boulders where hurled into the dark sky, as they ignited. Three cascaded into the air, and then as they fell they gave a horrifying scream, the boulders becoming animated flaming skulls. A few of Kain’s forces where tempted to flee, but one of the leaders within the formation bellowed a psychic command. “Keep formation! Resist!”

The warriors in the center of the triangle held up their weapons and forced the skull to dispel and fade. They charged forward, their various troops screaming their warcrys and casting their own spells against the wall.

Kain bore down chanting his own spell against the wall. He concentrated, the words attempting to flee from his mind. But he held fast to them and forced them into the spoken language. He summoned a battering ra, of energy which fell down into the wall with a crash. The silver dragon breathed her crystal breath upon the defenders as did the other dragons, the defenders able to do little but scream and die. But there where visable losses of Kain’s forces, and Jarrid had plenty more.

The wall shook and parts crumbled yet it still stood. The gate was still there. The triangle formation neared the gate and concentrated upon the next part. They all aimed their weapons forward and became a living battering ram, the energies they where swirling around themselves became a blinding white bolt, it appeared as though an white lance was aiming for the wall.

Kain prayed that they would survive….he flew past the wall and headed to the temple beyond the wall, defending himself from the defenders within with his own spells.

"Ha!" Azari said. "You're spells are pitiful! You need more training" She laughed at herself, as one cut across her arm. "But quantity, may over ride quantity here..." She held her staff high, and reigned fire down upon the earth. But for every attack she made, there were several others to counteract the power...

Whiptail sends his dragon into a dive, hanging slingtly off to the side. His eyes had gone from golden to solid red, and his mind had apparently taken a backseat to his lust for blood.
27-11-2003, 21:40
The battle raged on, the silver forms of jarrids troops acted as a damn against this mighty flood of magic and Psi. Weapons where clashed against weapon, the burtal melee ensued.

Spells flew into the area, explosions of thousands of colours filled the now reddened sky as the silver dragons flew. The silver flying steeds brought down thier crystal breath, shattering and implaing many horribly, thier armour ripped like paper.

Two dragons crashed into the army below, thier bodies crushing them. Kain looked back, his white hair streaming at the speed of the dragons. He could barely see it....

But truth have it, Kain's forces where winning, out of suprise and thier effective charge combined with the dragon assualt. But it was to be the hard combat ahead which would be the test.

Kain flew low, they where nearing the temple. The dragon he rode inhaled in massive lungs and outstreached her two talons. Her cystal breath was summoned as it rocketed down in a strict channel towards the fewer guards near the temple and the door. They promtly died, thier armour granting them protection. Landing, the female dragon looked at Kain and then got up again to fly back to help the troops.

Good luck Kain. The dragon said before she streached her wings and took off witha great bound into the exploding sky.

Kain was on the ground....he drew the Brightblade. The sounds of the combat filled the area, noises of guards being summoned against this suprise attack where heard. Kain looked at the door and put his cloven hand to it.

"Ast van turek impenon gurian, kiloth yui yui oui firdineaz." kain uttered and the silver door opened with a laboured groan as it revealed the stone interior of the temple.

The temple was a massive set of corridors. Many of which simply led to preist quarters, but the main passages with the runes along thier ancient walls led to thier destination. The Seer's chambers.

"This way!" kain hollared as they all went in, the door closing automaticly. Kain had ensured that those outside would not enter.

But there where gaurds ready for them inside. The best of Velmora's troops, the Wayfarers, thier bodies totally encased in perfectly formed silver, like golems with thier halberds. But they where far from slow, they where quicker than most, even with the armour on. They where incredibly skilled, seven of them blocked thier way, thier faces could not been seen due to the blue light which was over them.

They pointed thier weapons towards them, as the party readied for combat. Kain stood there...his Cloak a crimson colour, the Brightblade ignited into a ice flame, it's unholy demonic fire there and stable.

The sides engaged...

Azari looked at the dragon. With a slight exchange of words, she leapt from his back into the fray. She moved with incredible speed. The hybrid held her staff stronly. She looked around and Kain was no where in sight. He would not see her then. In a flash of blue light she transformed, demonic wings upon her back, torn in several places. They were still concealed under her cloak. Her demeanor became much darker. Her skin was tinted blue, and her eyes glowed sanguine. The strikes of the men were absorbed within her robes. She looked like a black figure, twisting in and out amongst the crowd.
27-11-2003, 23:24
The Brightblade twinged oddly, Kain had never noticed it do this before. It was an extremely odd sensation, one that Kain could not place.

He did not know of the demon side to Azari....

I...I never knew you where this! Kain proclaimed telepathically to her, as he locked swords with one, and sent a energy bolt raging towards him, which was deftly dispelled with a great deal of effort.

She had sired a demon, and she never knew...she never knew? She never said anything...
28-11-2003, 08:59
"You know full well of what I speak! You are are a demon!" Kain said again, still in shock.

He spiraled around, the Brightblade crashing down upon his enemies halberd with a hollow ring of silver against demonic metal, then it aburnt straight though with a evil glow form the skull hilt. It cleaved through the sivler armour like butter, the wayfarer screamed as the acid blade went through.

As Lance observed the battle from the air riding his dragon, he silently cursed. Mentally steeling himself for the confrontation, Lance began to chant, "I must not fear, fear is the mind killer..."

Prepared, Lance Crusade jumped off of his dragon and dived towards the front of the enemy horde. His Cala Sword glowing with a golden aura. As he fell towards the ground, Lance weaved a powerful spell to protect himself. The Infinity Swords Technique was prepared...

A Wayfarer brought his silver halberd dextrously down upon Lance, it was as though it had no weight to him! Yet the blow would have been a terrible wound if it hit, various spells readied should the event occour.

The silver plated man fought like he had no armour on at all, he parried and dodged like he was a playful air sprite, weaving around it's target playfully, the silver flashing with the blue light, slightly distracting.

OOC: Thanks for the great description Kain... :D

(No problem. Part of the reason why I take so long with my posts is that I pour detail into them, I have to delete a lot of what I write because otherwise it would be too long!)
01-12-2003, 22:21
OOC: I'm grounded and would love to read this, but have no time. Can I get a summery, and someone tell me where they (Daniella in particular) are and what's happening? A TM, please! :(
01-12-2003, 23:31
(OOC Alright. Here is the deal.

The group set off upon the dragons. the forces downn below, the scattered groups of B'jorn have gathered together under Kain's command. Flying down, the group upon dragons attacked with Kain's forces against Jarrid's forces manning the outer walls of the temple.

Jarrid's forces where taken by suprise by the air strike from the silver dragons, and the chartge of Kain's forces. Yet Jarrid's forces are strong, they are well armed and well trained. Kain's forces are capable fighters but they will stand no hope of winning. The plan is simply to allow Kain and the group to slay Jarrid and get out. The riderless dragons make attacks against the enemy.

The group flew on and dived into the main temple part, taking out a few defenders in the dive. Kain and co. got off, and went inside the temple. The door closed...only Kain can open it. Daniella proberbly could with more difficulty, but she could.

Continuing on in the temple, they where set on by Wayfarers, some of the strongest guards. I think it was seven. A fight ensues. Azari reveals her true powers, her true being shown, and Kain is rather startled by this.

For descriptions on the Wayfares, just look back.

Happy now? :D )

OOC: I'm in the temple!?!

IC:

Lance easily blocked the halberd with his Infinity Swords Defensive Technique. With his palm extended Lance unleashed a whirlwind of dragonic fire at the Wayfarer...
02-12-2003, 17:08
Ast van turek impenon gurian, kiloth yui yui oui firdineaz." kain uttered and the silver door opened with a laboured groan as it revealed the stone interior of the temple.

You certainly are in the temple! :)

IC: The dragonic fire raged towards the Wayfarer, the area glowed with the itenisty of the hell flame. The Wayfarer's armour seemed like a furnace as the flames licked around him. He responded by spinning his halberd blue energies unraveling the complex frabric of magic, sharp crackling noises where heard as the Wayfarer went backwards, stuggling to dispel all of this barrage.

But he did so, and held the halberd behind him in perfect calm. He retorted by outstreaching his guantlet and summoning a blue energy which swirled as it gathered to his hand. He proceeded to make a frightening swift spell as he did complex arcane gestures, his words barely heard over the combat as he chanted.

The blue energy trailed from his hand and swirled around him, lighting his armour up. Spinning his halberd as though it was wieghtless, he charged, leaping into the air and attempting to being the lighting blue halberd and it's spells to bear.

Lance was shocked by the speed of this fighter, and the swiftness to which he cast that spell! Now his movements where faster, his parries swift and deabilitiating in their nature. This would be a tough battle....

Kain knew of these opponents, how they acted. Holding the Brightblade he chanted as he charged forward, flames brewing within the Brightblade's core, the demon blade easger to rend those who where blocking thier path.

The Wayfarer tried to dispel his own spell, but Kain wove a counterspell in reaction, with a single word he broke down the dispel when it was just being formed. Kain's knowledge of thier techniques was proving to be an advantage....Kain bore the dark blade onto the Wayfarer, norrowly parried. Kain simply sent the flames upwards as a column within the Wayfarer, his form burning from within his silver prison of armour.

OOC: Kain, just to tell you, my Infinity Swords is still active... For the other people, Infinity Swords is a defensive move. Which allows the user to become virtually impervious to all magical and physical attacks. The technique involves a mental creation of an infinite of swords, which surrounds the user. Anyone close enough to the user when the technique is used will be hit by the power...

IC:

Lance glanced briefly at the remaining Wayfarers. He roared menacingly, sounding like the combined roars of hundreds of dragons. Surrounded by the Infinity Swords, Lance levitated and hovered into the midst of the Wayfarers, the infinite swords easily blocking the various thrusts and attacks from the Wayfarers' weapons...
02-12-2003, 19:06
(OOC Please, explain what the techniques do. That is like me saying that I am doing a Bigbys Crushing Hand. Some people do not know what it is. And also, no stained glass windows. These are stone passages lit up by small magical orbs upon the wall, will glow a pale blue. Oh and by the way, the other Wayfarers in the room and bare in mind about blast radius? This is a corrdor you know...)

OOC: Sorry... Let me edit my posts...
03-12-2003, 17:19
(OOC Thanks...)

Two wayfares chanted and wove thier own defensive spells, thier images copying, thier shimmering form vast and perfectly formed. They where illusions, but they served thier purpose. They spiraled around...

They both began to chant and sent thier blue bolts from both sides, the crackle of thier own magics spiraling towards Lance, a raw battering ram of magical power.

OOC: What are they doing?

IC:
Lance continued to charge down the corridor. Glancing back, he called.

"Come friends... Follow me..."
03-12-2003, 17:36
(OOC You are fighting two at the moment, others are in combat with others. The two have responded by casting Mirror Image on themselves, which is an illusion to make thier image copy in an illusion to confuse you, and now they have sent two bolt of raw magical energy to harm lance.)
Five Civilized Nations
03-12-2003, 17:40
OOC: Thank you for the clarification...

IC:

Lance using a powerful Annul Spell, dispelled some of the Mirror Images. The Infinity Swords blocked the lances of blue energy and deflected it into the ceiling. Lance brought up his Cala Sword and spoke in a menacing voice...

Flee now, whilst I let you... Your paltry power is useless against me... Flee now, you fools...
03-12-2003, 17:53
(OOC I am a little concerned with the power of that Infinity Swords....you cast it instantously, a spell which well...makes you invunerable. Just be careful.)

The two Wayfares remained silent and span thier halberd around themselves, crackles of blue energy coming from them as they both charged up. They both knew what they would do. They continued to do so, the remaining images did so too.

Thier halberds screamed with the amount of energy which was being poured into them, the runes upon the silver hlaberd heads shining brilliantly. The two attacked simitanously, the dispels around the halberds strong in power. It would also do physical damage when the blade hit Lance.

OOC: The Infinity Swords does not imbue invulnerability... It slowly causes the user to fade and become ethereal, if used to much...

IC:

The halberds hit the outer barrier of the Infinity Swords. Lance felt the blow and staggered back... Although, the Infinity Swords usually absorb any attack, the attack could be still felt by the user. Lance nearly collapsed from the blow and blood began to trickle from the side of the mouth. Lance raised the sword above his head and began to chant the litany, "I must not fear, fear is the mind killer. Satisfied, Lance attacked with his Cala Sword leaping over the two Wayfarers and attacking from the back...

(OOC Ah with this new infomation, there is no problem! :) Oh yes, the illusions are still in place, there are about five wayfarer images in all surronding him. I am randomising if you hit a right one or not, trusty dice! Silly me, forgets to make post. Me =dumb)

Lance extended his left palm and let loose with a powerful blast of dragonfire towards the nearest Wayfarer. When the blast went through the Wayfarer, Lance grimaced and backed off from the five Wayfarers...

You are not the only ones who can you Mirror Image...

With a quick prayer, Lance split into five figures...

OOC: Battle of the Illusions...
03-12-2003, 20:50
The two Wayfarers paused for a moment...reassessing the situation. They held fast to thier position...then span thier halberds around in a defensive manuver.

(Ok, this could get complex...)

The dragon Daniella was on flew swiftly and silently towards the battle. Daniella led him towards the group near the forrest, where the men were preparing to use magic.

Let me walk. Go to Kain. Let him know I'm alright.

The dragon lowered, and Daniella slipped into the woods, just out of their sight. She began a slow chant. Winds began to shift, and the ground behind her began to raise. The spell was simple. It would bury them, and thier weapons. She continued the chant.

Lance Crusade slammed his sword into the ground, followed by his images. The hands rested on the pommel of the sword. Lance and his illusions waited patiently for the Wayfarers to make a wrong move. Lance was a master swordsmen having fought thousands of battles and killed thousands of strong fighters. He was unafraid...

Suddenly another Wayfarer, who had hidden in a side corridor, leapt out and struck Lance in the back with his halberd. Although the Infinity Swords Technique blocked the knife, the momentum of the attack was enough to make Lance fall to the ground, along with his images.

Quickly sliding through the Wayfarer's legs, Lance cleaved the man in half with his Cala Sword. Lance stood once more and faced the other Wayfarers. With an evil glint, he asked...

Who will be next to feel the wrath of the Duke of Cala!?!
04-12-2003, 18:30
(OOC Good stuff, that is what I like to see. Oh and Daniella can you clarify where you are? I would have thought you would have gone with Kain, your choice though....Kain might get worried)

The remaining Wayfarer which was fighting Lance, twirled his halberd. He knew the price of failure. He also knew what they did not. But his mocking words where held shut, he knew better to tell them.

With a crackle his halberd was send spiraling towards him, in a downward arc of electricity and silver.

ooc: very very confused now. Sorry, I've had lesss and less time to post.
04-12-2003, 18:53
(OOC No problem. All that is ahppened, the fighitng has continued. Lnace has taken one of the Wayfares out, Kain has taken two out I think. I have no idea what Daniella is doing. Just continue on as you where, about to kick some Wayfarer ass. :) )

Azari stopped, electricity soaring through her crimson eyes. Her skin regained the blue tint it had carried when she had changed. As weapons touched her, electricty flowed from her to the next. Any that touched another, and was indirectly and directly connected to her received a devestating shock. The demon's cloak ripped in shreds as she leapt into the air, electricity soaring across the enemies' lines. She couldn't be identified now, only as what she was. A siren.
04-12-2003, 20:34
Kain did not know what to think of Azari's changing...he did not comment further. The battle at hand was more important. He saw the destruction she wove so easily, electricity passing through the first Wayfarer, making them drop dead. The others saw this and reacted with counterspells of thier own. There was only about three left now.

Bringing his Brightblade in a frightening arc of flame, a Wayfarer blocked...only to have his weapon break! Kain knew of the enchantments woven around those weapons, and broke them easily with the Brightblade's power. Kain felt invincible with the weapon.

Lance stared at the remaining Wayfarer... He dissolved his four mirrors and advanced slowly against the Wayfarer, his sword in his right hand, with the sword point down. With his tone laced with venom, Lance began to weave doubt into the mind of the Wayfarer using magic... At the same time, Lance muttered under his breath, "A beginning is a time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct."
05-12-2003, 15:55
The Wayfarer heard the doubts, which where dissolved swiftly by his own protections. He brought his halberd arcing around again towards Lance.

Like a whiplash, the Cala Sword came up, easily blocking the halberd.

Your defeat is at hand... Surrender or face the dire consequences of your inability...
05-12-2003, 16:14
The Wayfarer simply gritted his teeth and continued. He knew the price of failure. He pushed harder upon Lance's sword and tried to sidestep and swing the halberd to his legs.
Five Civilized Nations
05-12-2003, 16:52
Lance chuckled at the Wayfarer's inept movement and tripped him with his left foot, while balanced perfeclty on his right... As the Wayfarer fell, Lance's left hand seized the halberd...
