ooc: First of all, sorry to Valinon and anyone else who has a thread Lusaka's supposed to be in- I went away for a few days to start with, and came back in no mood to talk to anyone..or even to shoot anyone! I hope to get back into this thread at least, as Lusaka is quite heavily involved. Elsewhere it will just have to be considered that Lusakan characters stuck to the shadows and never did anything exceptional :?
Anyway- if this debate were not ooc, Lusaka and the South Boroglia Regiment could be dashing to get through Central Boroglia, allowing the South Boroglia Regiment to arrive in (northern) Boroglia cheering for the unity of the nation, and quite oblivious to any desire for disunity and independence in the north. The Lusakan thinking would be to create a celebratory feeling of Boroglian strength and unity.. while Lusaka and Hrstrovokia were on hand, of course.
But, as it happens, Tendyala is not fully aware of the scale of likely dissent in the north.

[OOC: My actions at present are departing rapidly from the four point plan, but to be honest, when Al Anbar didnt accept the plan fully as I proposed, I just lost all faith in this situation coming to a peaceful conclusion.
As I see it, Al Anbar is the obstacle in Boroglia that prevents unification and peace. If Al Anbar is defeated, and the PRCB is no more, everything will be in place to put this chapter quickly to an end.]
Message to the Foreign Officer of Hrstrovokia, Lusaka, Al Anbar, Liverpool England, and all other parties
The Empire of Valinon will not participate in a conflict between the forces of Al Anbar, the so-called "People's Republic" of Central Boroglia, and the Fedneration of Hrstrovokia. At this time we will take the stance of official neutrality to this conflict. However, if the Confederacy of Boroglia is attacked by either side in this conflict, we will have no choice but to intervene if called upon to do so by Councilor Hallick and the Council of Governors.
Sincerely,
Count Viktor Leopold

OOC: Al Anbar, I'm saying the meeting ended in a stalemate and neither side could come to an agreement. However, the Confederates tried to move on with the investigation, until the situation started to implode.
Lionel Swift sits in his office at the Confederate embassy to Central Boroglia. He listens to the steady ticking of the clock and watches as the sun sets behind a distant ridge line. He looks at the reports in his hands.
The situation in Central Boroglia is disintegrating. Despite his best efforts the investigation has ground to a near complete halt due to intrigues, disagreements, and international pressure. Swift knows that the armistice will soon be abandoned.
However, it seems that the Confederacy is having its own problems. The Council of Governors has convened in an emergency meeting to discuss the request that all Hrstrovokian troops withdraw from Confederate territory. Unless the Federation will negotiate with the Confederacy to make their case for their presence.
Relations with the Empire of Valinon grow strained some what as the Empire tries to avoid war with either party. Merely saying they will honor their duty to defend the Confederacy should they be attacked.
Then the direct line to the Confederate capital of Hulthan chirps.
Swift activates the comm, and the image of Councilor Hallick appears.
"Mr. Swift, I want you to contact the PRCB government and see what they are doing down there," the Councilor says gravely. "The peace is falling apart, and I do not think that it will hold for much longer. Try and find a way to stall this, appeal to them in any way."
"What of the Federation?"
Hallick looks suddenly old and harried, "The Council and I will deal with the Hrstrovokians, Mr. Swift, just see to it that you can talk with the PRCB government. Even through phone line will be enough. We need to do this quickly, otherwise their will be war."

Tesygran mused thougtfully at the dossier before him. "Report #125V - Valinon/Boroglia Forces" was a thick file of invaluable information, retrieved by Hrstrovokian agents as the 1st and 2nd Armies trudged across Northern Boroglia.
Agents had collected data on the location's of barracks, airfields, forts and bases, their possibly troop strength and daily ongoings. It was raw and dubious, but the location's were correct.
Tesygran became immersed in the file, moving closer to his desk with acute anticipation. "If Boroglia tries to expel us, then we should absorb it instantaneously" he said in a hushed voice.
"Allowing Al Anbar that kind of breathing space wiould be disastrous, but I cannot steam roll over Boroglia or Valinon."
Tesygran eyed the clock on the far corner of the room. In 2 hours, he was due to talk with President Kecha, he planned to insist a immediate departure from Valinon.
Chimaea's expression of understanding and agreement boded well for Tesygran, and he was sure whatever anxieties they had would be allieved when the war was won.
Event's in Southern Boroglia had not escaped his attention, returning his gaze to several Lusakan national papers. The embassy in New Lusaka believed President Igomo was very likely to join the invasion.
All in all, Hrstrovokia seemed in a good position.
For the troops in their positions in Central Boroglia, and behind in Boroglia, it appeared more clearly, that this was one hell of a sticky situation.
If the top brass decided to move in on Boroglia, the following war would leave them stranded, supply lines cut, in a massive pocket, surrounded by opposing forces. Orders had already been circulated for further mobilisations back home, more reservists, more production of the machines of war.
At HAF Ryka, the gigantic B-52s had been warming up on the tarmac, loading ordnance. Maps and order's had been issued to the crews. The map was of Mossel.
Colonel Ivanovich paces his office. His command is in shambles, and he himself is left with fewer and fewer options as the Empire tries to avoid a conflict with the Federation of Hrstrovokia. Then comes a knock at his door.
"Enter," Major Schlandt walks in.
"Colonel, Councilor Hallick is here to see you."
"Show him in," Ivanovich buttons his dress uniform together at the collar. Councilor Hallick enters as he finishes and moves from behind his desk to greet him.
"Councilor," says Ivanovich, "it is as always a pleasure."
The Confederate head of state grasps Ivanovich's hand in return, "Colonel, I have come to discuss most serious matters with you."
"Then please be seated," Ivanovich gestures to a chair in front of his desk, while he takes another next to it rather than return to his position behind the imposingly large desk.
"Colonel," Hallick begins, "the Council of Governors have reached a decision concerning the use of our territory as a staging point for further attacks on the People's Republic of Central Boroglia. And I feel that it is necessary for the Empire to know of our stance on the matter."
"Go on," Ivanovich says gravely.
"The Confederacy is willing to support troop movements within our territory on one condition:," Ivanovich tenses, "the Confederacy must remain free following this war."
"I take it you will make your position known to the Federation?" Ivanovich says in evern graver tones.
"Of course. A message is already being sent. But if they press us I must know if the Empire will honor its agreement to defend the Confederacy."
"That is not my decision to make, Councilor," Ivanovich says. "But I will tell you that the Empire will not risk an all out war with Hrstrovokia. His Majesty's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has worked hard to smooth over our relations with Hrstrovokia after our last conflict with them, and they will be loathe to let it happen again. If you do this, Councilor, there is a chance you may do so alone."
"That is unfortunate," says Hallick seeming to sag inward. "But not unexpected."
He rises to leave, "I will let you know what the Federation does, Colonel. And also, the BDF and the Boroglian Free Militia will be mobilized immediately to impose a lock down of the borders of the Confederacy. Until such time that Hrstrovokia acknowledges our proposition. Good day."
And with that, Councilor Hallick is gone. Ivanovich heaves himself off his desk, feeling to be hundreds of years old. He goes behind his desk, sits down, opens a drawer toward the top and withdraws a flask. He pours himself a glass of strong smelling liquor.
Message sent to Boroglian Embassy in Mossel
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
The People's Republic of Central Boroglia is faced by an attack by warmongers who are bent on finally seizing a part of Boroglia for themselves. We must not allow Hrstrovokia to steal our land and destroy our culture by seizing Central Boroglia.
Central Boroglia is only a stepping stone for them. Once they attack, and if they win the war, they will annex us. They will then us our land for a base to attack you with an excuse of 'uniting the Boroglian people'.
We must resist together this imperialist and colonialist policy of Hrstrovokia. We must stop them before they destroy our people.
Therefore, in order to accomplish this, I suggest we work together and fight these Hrstrovokians to the last. With the support of honourable countries of Valinon and Al Anbar assisting the peoples of Boroglia to resist the imperialist and colonialist actions of Hrstrovokia, we can finally achieve real independence.
Once we win the war we can finally unite and integrate our two sections of Boroglia. By doing so, I am sure that the third section of Boroglia will finally join us.
However, I must warn you of something. Should you allow the basing of troops and equipment of the enemy of Boroglia, the Central Boroglians and Al Anbar will retaliate against the government of Boroglia for assisting an enemy to the people of Boroglia and allowing colonalism of our lands.
Please understand our position.
Signed,
President Muqtader

Priority Encrypted Message to the PRCB
President Muqtader,
Although we understand the plight of a fellow Boroglian nation, the Confederacy of Boroglia cannot bring itself to go to war with the Federation of Hrstrovokia. However, we are trying to take action in our own way to bring about the resolution of this conflict. The Boroglia Defense Force and the Boroglian Free Militia are no where near strong enough to consider taking on the forces arrayed against us. Therefore we are attempting to negotiate with the Federation of Hrstrovokia.
However, in the event of war, I am afraid the the Council of Governors and myself will have no choice but to declare neutrality on the matter. But we are placing a full moratorium on Hrstrovokian military movement through our territories until we have brought the Hrstrovokian's to the negotiating table.
Best regards,
Matthew Hallick
Councilor of the Confederacy of Boroglia

Priority Encrypted Message to the Federation of Hrstrovokia
Prime Minister Tesygran,
The Confederacy of Boroglia has watched with great distress of your recent actions concerning affairs in Boroglia, and we have now decided to take a form of action against it. Effectively immediately, members of the Boroglian Defense Force and the Boroglia Free Militia are enforcing a strict border moratorium along both of our borders. No further movement of Hrstrovokian troops will be allowed into Confederate territory.
However, we are yet people of reason. We are willing to lift this moratorium in return for a single matter. If you agree to guarantee the continued freedom and sovereignity of the Confederacy of Boroglia, the moratorium will be lifted and the Confederacy will take a fully off-hands stance to the conflict. We only ask that we are allowed to remain what we always wanted to be: a free and self-governed people.
It is our solemn wish that you will discuss this with us in the form of diplomatic means. However, we have made preparations for the event of a choice being made otherwise. The Council of Governors and myself await your response.
Best regards,
Matthew Hallick
Councilor of the Confederacy of Boroglia
OOC: And the Confederates decide to play both sides. Because they honestly think that Valinon will come to aid them if the situation becomes too hot. It shall be interesting to see how this plays out.
Message to Boroglian Embassy
The People's Republic of Central Boroglia understand that Boroglia is in no position to actually challenge the Hrstrovokian military, and that is why I now offer the following:
1) Military cooperation between the Confederacy of Boroglia, Al Anbar, and Central Boroglia. Both the Central Boroglian military and the Al Anbar expeditionary force is willing to come to the aid of Boroglia should it need assistance.
2) Economic cooperation. While we are threatened with extermination from Hrstrovokia and other outside enemies, both Central Boroglia and Boroglia will trade needed materials that each side needs to sustain defensive operations.
3) Political support. Al Anbar, the Confederacy of Boroglia, and the People's Republic of Central Boroglia will both offer political and moral support to keep the defensive operations going and to try and get other countries to join us to defend our freedom and people.
We stand by for your answer.
Signed,
President Muqtader
President of the People's Republic of Central Boroglia.
The high-altitude bombers taxied slowly along the runaway, before turning ponderously so that their snub-noses pointed to the other end.
The Chimaean Air Force had, with some discreet diplomacy with the Hrstrovokian government, moved most of its bigger planes to the old, deserted base left over from the Hrstrovokian separatist wars.
Now the old base was a hive of activity as the Air Force geared up for a possible attack-launch. The low, streamlined shapes of the new SC-42s squatted waiting in their huge hangars and a whole host of other aircraft, including AWACS and un-manned craft, were readying.
The two bombers, however, were already on their way. As the control tower gave them the take-off order, their jet engines screamed into life and soon they were airborne.
They kept climbing for a good while, then steadied off at a safe altitude as they headed into Lusaka-controlled Boroglian territory. Despite their height they sent down friendly signals anyway.
Soon they lowered their height as they got closer to Central Boroglia. Levelling off at a second safe-height as they flew over, they waited.
The border, patrolled by soldiers of both sides, passed by without much incident. Soon the two bombers were flying over Central Boroglia.
The pilots simultaeneously opened the bomb-bays of the planes, releasing their payload...

Judging little South Boroglia Airport's main runway now "close enough", Tendyala saw in Lusaka's eight B-47 Stratojet bombers, under the tightest of security.
APCs carrying Lusakan special forces, and trucks of the South Boroglia Regiment skirted the half-made airfield, which was dotted with ZSU-23-4 self propelled AA guns, and over-flown by an assortment of jet fighters and ground-attack aircraft.
Colonel Tendyala was ready to unit the peoples of south and central Boroglia, and he sent to Hrstrovokia with confirmation of that condition, and of the eagerness of the locals to see an end to the seperation they suffered from friends and family in the two zones north.
Message to the Federation of Hrstrovokia
Prime Minister Tesygran,
The Empire of Valinon does not wish this to escalate into full war, and therefore we will not interfere in the operations of the Federation against the PRCB. However, we wish to speak on the matter of the Confederate proposal to your own government.
His Majesty would urge you to speak with Councilor Hallick in order to meet a diplomatic agreement on the matter of your further troop movements. We find that the the Confederates are neverous and fearing that their own freedoms will be revoked, and as such they have rapidly moved out of our control. We feel that the Confederate do not openly seek a conflict with you, Lusaka, or the other nations currently involved in the Boroglian state of affairs. And we feel that if the matter can merely be discussed, the Confederates would have their doubts absolved.
Sincerely,
Count Viktor Leopold

Col.Tendyala has confirmed Chimean rights of passage through South Boroglian airspace -presently maintained by the United African Republican Air Force of Lusaka- and has given permission to operate from the airfield there.
However, this facility is in its infancy, and is already crowded- work to expand it is underway even now. It would be best, the Colonel thinks, for Chimean personel to appear in the secure setting of the airbase and to earn the trust of South Boroglian Regimentals before being granted a freer hand in the area.

Response to Councillor Hallick
The Federation of Hrstrovokia pledges to honour Boroglian independence. Foreign Minister Ibaraki is soon to extend a 20-year pact of friendship to the Confederacy under the conditions that -
1. Confederate borders and airspace are reopened, and Hrstrovokian troops permitted travel through Confederacy territory.
2. Permission to construct 4 Airfields to the North-West. 2 of these shall remain under Hrstrovokian control for 5 years, while the other 2 will be transfered to Confederate authorities after the war.
3. Permission to lay rail on Confederate territory, for use by Hrstrovokian military.

4 B-52s sat on the runway, prepared to strike the first blow of the war to the enemy. "Operation Spear" involved B-52s from Ryka, SU-39s and MIG 29s from Krados and MIG 27ks from Lewensgrath.
If Al Anbar hadnt given in within the few hours left, "Smack'em good" would be ushered in, and Mossel would be pulverised.
Confederacy of Boroglia - People's Republic of Central Boroglia border
Klesth Murrue of Snas Company, 304th Infantry Battalion checked his rifle. The AK-74 was Iswan, an external republic of Hrstrovokia. Situated just 10 km from the front, Murrue's unit was soon to push forward in the break for the Ohmere by 2nd Army. In just a few hours, Murrue would be firing this weapon in real combat for the first time in his life.
"So what if 2nd Army is a bunch of reservists? We can handle this." he argued in his mind. His belief that 304th was capable of the challenges was resolute.
Peering up at his comrades, Murrue realised the imensity of the war. Here were just 12 men, 1 squad, in a force of 230,000 men. This was big.
Slamming a new mag into the rifle, the young, pale hands of Murre reached for the briefing paper. The objectives were clearly laid out: taking the first tiny village in a country of tiny villages.
It had already been rocked by MLRS Mobile Launchers at the outbreak of the conflict, and had now been reduced to a smouldering ruin. But what was left, Hrstrovokia would eliminate. 400 men and 40 T-80s would make sure of that.
Message to Chimaean Forces
HASPC has cleared Chimaean forces for operation in Hrstrovokian airspace. HAF Sistenjaeg and HAF Mesner in Southern Hrstrovokia have been assigned to station Chimaean aircraft.
On board the CMS Spearhead, Aircraft Carrier outside Hrstrovokia
Captain Staning nodded to Rear Admiral Korosa and the Chimaean Ambassador, Mark Dayland, as the three of them walked towards the waiting helicopter.
They had just finished a three-hour long planning session in which they altered and ammended the plans created by the Chimaean Command back in New Sydney to suit the conditions on the ground.
The Captain and the Rear Admiral walked the deck of the immense aircraft carrier with the ease of familiarity; in contrast, Ambassador Dayland walked with a perceptible discomfort. He stood out in his tailored suit and designer spectacles and his black leather shoes threatened to slip from time to time.
"Every precaution must be taken to ensure the safety of all civilians in central Boroglia," Dayland was saying, his voice raised above the noise of the busy deck, "we can't afford to have another Amerigo on our hands. That means there's got to be only precision attacks and surgical strikes..."
Rear Admiral Korosa sighed loudly, her face tense with frustration. "This is a war, Ambassador. With all the good intentions in the world there will always be civilian casualties!"
The Captain looked carefully neutral as they neared the helicopter waiting for the Ambassador on the deck. As far as he was concerned, whatever politiking happened from now to the start of the shooting didn't matter. Once those first bullets go past your head...
The Ambassador looked pained. "Well I'm relying on you to keep those casualties down to a bare minimum, Rear Admiral. Do whatever it is you have to do, send in special forces or commandos or marines or whatever you want. The Governor doesn't want to have to explain to the Confederacy why their citizens are dead!"
"With all respect, Ambassador, the governor is not here." she reached out and grabbed the man's arm, swinging him around to face her. Captain Staning blanched. "I will do whatever it takes to protect my men, the Allies and then Boroglian civilians. That's the order of priority, Mr. Ambassador."
"But--"
"Listen, the moment we send in ground troops, and that's happening already... the moment we send in troops, it means that we have to get our hands dirty. We have to protect them. And Ambassador, I will protect them. With bombs, missiles, everything."
The two glared at each other, nose to nose. Captain Staning realised that both Korosa and Dayland were not all that tall. Their sheer force of personality had seemed to make them taller but compared to the soldiers (and the Captain, too) they were quite short.
There was a lot in common between them, he reflected as they started arguying details. Korosa was a seasoned soldier, a warrior's warrior, who had looked many tyrants in the eye and delivered stern ultimatums to people who were used to chopping off the heads of anyone who looked at them wrong. Dayland, on the other hand, had been a high-ranking diplomat of one sort or another all his life, using words as weapons and more or less doing everything that Korosa did, except with a pen and not a gun. The big difference between them was that Dayland worked for a politician, Governor Styles, while Korosa worked for General Garrison. It wasn't like in the days of Lord Bryce, where he and Garrison had been close conspirators in everything that happened.
He coughed loudly to get their attention. Both of them glared at him.
"Ambassador, your helicopter is waiting, we really don't have more time."
Dayland nodded, gave Korosa a surprisingly warm smile and climbed onto the small black helicopter that had brought him to the Spearhead. Staning and Korosa stepped back and the helicopter lifted off, then banked away.
As it did, yet another SC-42 fighter roared off the deck, heading for Hrstrovokia.

Report #1
1st and 2nd Armies, under General Timas and General Gaulden respectively, have begun their offensives with a piercing thrust into Boroglia.
At 01:00 yesterday, elements of 2nd Army's 10th Operational Division pushed forward in the West on a 40 km front. A total of 30 km has been secured. However, no cities, towns, villages or indeed any point of strategic interest has been crossed.
The Ernhardt Brigade of 6th Reservists dashed ahead of 10th's forward position in an attempt to secure the bridge over the river Klissth at Sedakau. They will also provide vital reconnaissance information.

A curfew is ordered in all cities and in the countryside, checkpoints are erected along main routes, and the main airport closed. Soldiers are scattered all over the street, with gun emplacements at the corner of streets, and the such.
Once the Hrstrovokians finally crossed the border into Central Boroglia, the embassy of the Confederacy of Boroglia is surrounded by hundreds of troops. A messenger, with a white flag, enters the embassy and delivers a notice to the staff.
"Surrender or be taken by force, traitors. Signed, President Muqtader." read the note.

All of the dugout positions have been abandoned for the most part. The few soldiers manning the trenches as outlooks surrender as the enemy approaches. All the troops have moved into the villages, towns, and cities, no matter how small or big they be.

Public Liason Serabh Mulk swaggered up to the podium as the Hall buzzed to life. Mulk was immediately besieged with questions from the gathered media. Raising a hand, he spoke clearly and confidently with a slight Vokian drawl.
"Good evening, I have a number of issues to address before I can answer any questions you may have, so the sooner I get this out of the way, the sooner I can answer your questions."
The seething mass relaxed and retired to their positions. "Now, as you are aware, Anbarian forces have destroyed the bridge over the Klissth, holding up the Ernhardt Brigade."
"This resulted in a 23 hour delay, as F.H.A. Engineers constructed a substitue bridge while TEP-1s ferried across Infantry to the far bank to provide cover and continue reconassiance." "10th Operational is approaching the Klissth, and will continue it's battle for the Ohmere."
"2nd Army's overall progress is good, General Gaulden's men have surpassed all our expectations." "Right now, they are 75 kilometers into the de facto state, covering an area of about 60 kilometers."
"The 2nd Army HQ has been brought forward to a undisclosed position to enable better communication with Commanders at the front."
"The 4th Reservist Division has continued it's drive into the Caprivi Ridge." "Occupation of the Ridge will prevent Al Anbar from utilizing an ideal rallying point once their forces in the West have been pushed out."
"The Federal Air Force has pounded isolated enemy outposts and has an unchallenged superiority in the air thanks to the ineptitude of Anbarian Command, which has withdrawn all it's forces into the Towns and Cities."
"6th Reservists have encircled the City of Dasghlishu and bombardment of Dasghlishu's outskirts has commenced." "General Gaulden has reported that he intend's to seize the town, rather then besiege it."
"In the East, 2nd Northern's 51st Brigade has sent confirmation of engagements with People's Republic forces at the Town of Kirulle, which resulted in 540 casualties and 300 wounded and the loss of 28 T-55s, 8 T-80s and 12 MT-LBs."
"F.H.A. Engineers have begun removing mines surrounding small bridges, but this delicate process will take time." "However, the fact that these bridges still exist is itself a victory, and just shows the foolishness of Anbarian Command."
"Now, if you have any questions..." Mulk uttered wearily. The crowd, quiet and respectable until now quickly went beserk.
"Sir!" or "Mr. Mulk!" deafened the Civil Servent from every angle. Mulk picked out a brunette in the third row by random.
She rose quickly to her feet. "Catherine Galzuck, Channel 3 News, Mr. Mulk, is it true that the National Army has discovered numerous bodies, which are believed to be of civilians?" she spoke in her twangy Marinthian tone.
The Hall lost it. Galzuck was lost amongst the flashes of Cameras and screaming of Journalists. Mulk made a feeble attempt to calm the Hall, but it was several minutes before some kind of normality was restored.
"Yes, it is true, about 70 cremeted bodies were found outside the Village of Garouth, but it isnt known whether they are Civilian or Army." "However, Locals have reported the disappearance of Hrstrovokian settlers."
The Hall shifted nervously, obviously affected by the seriousness of Mulk's answer. Satisfied, Galzuck seated herself.
"Sir, how long do you think it will take to defeat the enemy in Boroglia?" enqueried a very bronzed man from the back of the hall.
"We believe Anbarian and People's Republic forces will be defeated in about six weeks, given their tactical errors, their lack of supplies, Chimaean and Lusakan movements against them."
"Sir, what do you think of Anbarian forces using mines?" replied the same voice, which hadnt even waited for Mulk to finish the first answer.
"I couldnt believe it when I heard it, it's outrageous, and Al Anbar will be held to account, we will prosecute those who were involved in this sinister and malicious dealing as war criminals."
"Now, I'm afraid this is all the time I can afford to this briefing, I'm a busy man" Mulk said, collecting his papers and heading off stage.
OOC: Finally someone responded ^^;;

RE: Special Package
Congratulations on the successes so far. I'm pleased to hear that the SC-42 trials have been so effective.
You have permission to deploy the special package in Boroglia. Do not address the press with any information before a formal Chimaean announcement.
~General Garrison,
CiC Chimaean Armed Forces
------------
The mobile hangars, usually used for tanks and helicopters, had gone so far unopened in the campaign, causing the troops of the 64th Marine Corp to wonder exactly why the tanks or helicopters weren't providing support. Not that there was any lack of support; but the seasoned soldiers knew that every last missile counted.
So they sat, towering above the soldiers on huge wheels pulled by powerful trucks, guarded by uniformed, insignia-less soldiers who, while polite, had been distinctly uncommunicative.
As the 64th fought their way over the border, things changed.
It changed one day at dawn, as the troops were preparing to go on the move once more. The guarding soldiers dissappeared into the mobile hangars through hidden side doors. Then came the sound; deafeningly throaty roars of sheer power, unlike any tank or helicopter the 64th had encountered.
The hangars opened and the special package deployed into Central Boroglia.
------------
"Covering fire!"
Sergeant Miles twisted in his position, aimed the M60 over the heads of Captain Davidson's team and squeezed the trigger. Bullets smashed against the ragged treeline, tearing off branches and felling trees as well as supressing the fire coming opposite.
Beside him, the five other heavy gunners of Kilo and Gamma platoons opened up on the treeline. Above them, sensing the directional shift of the battle, the Cobra gunship turned elegantly and began pounding the target with the 20MM canon.
The enemy were putting up a fierce resistance against the forty-strong Chimaean 203rd Paratroopers, using a mix of automatic rifles, light machine guns and shoulder-fired grenades. The paratroopers all carried CR59s or CR60s, with specialised equipment such as Sergeant Miles' M60.
They had pushed past far south-east of Mossel in a flanking manouever with another three Paratroop companies. Now they were assaulting a small but fortified town, chosing to go in from the more forested side.
Sergeant Miles estimated at least a company-strong force in the town, which came as a surprise. He wasn't sure that they were all professional soldiers or conscripts, though he hoped for the sake of the people in the town that they were conscripts.
He knew that Captain Davidson was holding off from ordering in a C130 attack on the town for fear of hitting civilians, but he had a nasty idea that if the Chimaean forces didn't break through fast enough, there wouldn't be any civilians to protect.
Over to his right, a private suddenly slumped from a bullet to the head. The soldier beside him screamed for a medic without breaking fire.
Grimly, Sergeant Miles returned his mind to the task at hand.
Iraqi Information Minister Holds Conference!
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the conference." says Information Minister al Jabbari.
The minister motioned over toward the map in the corner of the room. The map was of Central Boroglia.
"So far, the glorius forces of Central Boroglia have been the only ones to fight the colonialist and have produced marked results."
"At the city of Klissth, our forces have encountered several enemy units. A four hour battle was waged in the streets of the city before the enemy was pushed back by the Central Boroglian forces."
"The city continues to be under the control of the Boroglian government."
"We have also fought and won the battle for Ohmere. The city was held with little casulities to the Boroglian forces but heavy losses for the Hrstrovokian infidels."
"Our forces have destroyed tens of tanks and have inflicted heavy casulities on the enemy forces."
"The valiant air defenses have reported twelve downed craft, including fighter jets and helicopters. We will be showing the pilots and the craft later on today."
"That is all for now."
OOC: Is it possible to get a detailed map of these cities? Where they are, etc. etc.?

OOC: *Ahem*
"At the city of Klissth, our forces have encountered several enemy units. A four hour battle was waged in the streets of the city before the enemy was pushed back by the Central Boroglian forces."
I didnt imply any City at Klissth, but if you want to RP one, that's fine, however you have to atleast let me RP an attack before you defeat one.
"We have also fought and won the battle for Ohmere. The city was held with little casulities to the Boroglian forces but heavy losses for the Hrstrovokian infidels."
As I had implied with Klissth, it's a river, not a settlement, but if you wanna do it that way, that's ok.
"The valiant air defenses have reported twelve downed craft, including fighter jets and helicopters. We will be showing the pilots and the craft later on today."
You cannot declare losses for somebody else.
OOC: Is it possible to get a detailed map of these cities? Where they are, etc. etc.?
Not very possible, since you just created two cities out of nowhere :P I had defined Central Boroglia earlier in this thread, but not position of settlements. I can do so, but it might lead to confusion and arguments, so how about we agree how many towns, cities and villages are in the province?
The population is about 270,000, and the area is about 1/3rd of Boroglia.

Now, hrm, forget about the Klissth city, then.
About how many cities and the such.. Well... Let's say, 2 large cities (Mossel and Irabaki or something) and six or seven small cities and a couple of villages.

OOC: Restart? But I haven't even told you about the special package yet! Though you might not like it :P

Careful observers may note a significant reduction in Lusakan Air Force transports and merchant navy fleets arriving in Southern Boroglia, and even the withdrawl of the 27th Fighter Squadron- one major element of the air-wing attached to the expeditionary force.
(News reports from Southern Africa speak of a border dispute in the Great Rift Valley area between the United African Republic of Lusaka and its wealthy western neighbour.)

War Report #3 / S. Mulk / Published in the Hrstrovokian Today (Newspaper)
The Battle of Dasghlishu contested by 6th Reservists of 2nd Army and Boroglian-Anbarian forces continues unabated in Central Boroglia.
Dasghlishu, home to 30,000 people, has witnessed severe bombing by Artillery, Mobile Launchers, Mortar and Fighter-Bombers. A stable encirclement of Dasghlishu is in operation, Boroglian-Anbarian forces occupying the city have yet to attempt a breakout.
General Gaulden has assumed personal command in the Dasghlishu sector, and will soon order the clearance of the suburbs of Galfede, Hitromov and Stirenburgh, to the north of the city centre.
5,000 Infantry, 600 Merkava Mk 5s and 300 122mm Gun will participate in the operation.
The 4th Reservist Division has reached the Caprivi Ridge and begun occupation and fortification of the lower valleys. An AH-64 and a TEP-1 tragically collided in mid-air near the town of Mishaengen, resulting in the death of 67 personnel. Prime Minister Tesygran has met with the bereaved families and extended his "supreme sympathy."
The 2nd Northern's 51st Brigade, and now 44th, 40th and 9th have been fighting at Kirulle continously for the past 2 days. General Timas believes the town will "fall within a week". Casualties have been heavy.
The State Industrial and Agricultural Controller, Mr. Lem Brakow, appointed S.I.A.C. by Prime Minister Tesygran 5 weeks ago has implemented several protocols allowing better direction by the state with regard to Industrial output and Agricultural produce in the private sector.
Production of T-80s has hit a new high, with 50 rolling off assembly lines this week.
Prime Minister Tesygran has called for a conference to discuss post-war Boroglia. The Hrstrovokian Premier has invited delegations from the Confederacy of Boroglia, Valinon, Lusaka and Chimaea to meet at Marinth this week.
There were monsters in Central Boroglia, reflected Private Abbot of the 64th Marine Corp as he steadied his CR-60 against the tree and sipped the water from his steel flask. And they belonged to the Chimaean Army.
For the thousandth time his eyes were inexorably drawn to the towering metal death-dealer standing sentinel against the setting Brorglian sun. He had seen the automated defence systems of some of the newer Chimaean ships, and the famous Chimaean mobile artillery units, but this was something else altogether. He'd heard that other nations had developed things like this, but he'd always doubted their ability in a combat situation.
He had been wrong...
For one thing, it walked.
------------
Their day-time clips had been replaced with clips where every third bullet was a tracer, and the last five bullets were all tracers to remind the soldier that the clip needed to be changed.
The 203rd had dug in around the village of Garouth, exchanging sporadic fire with Anbar-Boroglian forces. The enemy had put up a surprisingly fierce defence, though that was fair enough seeing as they had nowhere to run. Several times during the day they had been offered the chance to surrender; although there were a few stragglers who did, most of the enemy held fast. Well, what remained of the enemy.
The 203rd had been reinforced partway through the late evening by another platoon. Now they took positions even closer to the besieged village, patiently snipering the remaining enemy forces there, though with limitted success.
Sergeant Miles studied the village in the fading light. It looked deserted and strangely peaceful, even with the occassional burst of gunfire. He saw Captain Davidson, to his far right, muttering into a field comms unit.
There was a shattering explosion in the village and Sergeant Miles ducked automatically, before cautiously looking through his M60- mounted binoculars.
One of the Central buildings had been attacked by one of the Cobra helicopters. As he watched, the dark mass of the cobra fired again; a sliver of metal, burning at one end, the smoke trail lengthening as it sped towards the building. Another deafening explosion and the building seemed to cave on itself.
Several people were running from the burning building now. He adjusted the lens for a closer look but in the red-tinted darkening light, it was difficult to make out whether they were civilians or soldiers.
Captain Davidson's voice crackled over the comms network. "Prepare for infiltration and house-to-house."
The Sergeant's pulse quickened. A house-to-house battle was always highly dangerous, but at night it could be lethal.
As he organised his men over the comms network, he fervently hoped that more of them weren't going to get torn up.
OOC: Can we please not have any future tech stuff involved in the war? :)
OOC: what I'm trying to achieve is a way to involve future concepts built as contemporary tech. I think I can pull it off; it'll be just like a tank, and won't be invincible or anything. ATRs can do their job on it, for example. And wait till you see the pics I made ^_^

Dasghlishu and Kirulle Taken!
The Seven day battle for Dasghlishu has ended and Hrstrovokia is claiming it's first victory over Al Anbar and the breakaway People's Republic of Central Boroglia.
Reports are also filtering through from the front that Kirulle has finally fallen to National forces.
Dasghlishu was encircled on the 23rd, and on the 25th General Gaulden conducted an offensive through the northern suburbs of Hitromov, Galfede and Stirenburgh.

Kirulle proved to be hard, with 51st Brigade of 2nd Northern requiring reinforcements from the 44th, 40th, 9th and eventually 3rd Brigade. People's Republic forces put up a stiff resistance, but ultimately, were outnumbered and outgunned. Fighting halted there on the 26th.

Hrstrovokian Reservists march toward Dasghlishu.
1,500 Anbarians and 2,600 Boroglians were captured. at Dasghlishu and 400 Boroglians at Kirulle. 4,500 were lost at Dasghlishu, including 75 T-80s, 145 Merkava Mk 5s and 260 T-55s.
At Kirulle, 1,400 men were lost and 200 T-55s knocked out.
Mossel Pulverized
Raids by FHAF B-52s have continued to successfully decimate Mossel. The City, which is the capital of the People's Republic, has suffered serious bombing for 2 weeks. This looks set to intensify as 1st Army draws nearer to the city.

OOC: Be realistic :P I'm not going back to negotiations, because frankly, you'll just slip off the hook and hold onto control in Central Boroglia. The only way this is going to end is by the sword.
Your position is less than enviable Al Anbar, your outnumbered and surrounded. If you continue to fight, the only result will be the total annihilation of your remaining battered forces.
Putting it simply, surrender and I will see to it that the survivors of your armies shall be returned to their homeland, where they can aid you in that "Liberation of Al Anbar" thread. Also, I'd appreciate it if you relinquished using Central Boroglia as one of your nations.
Failing that, I promise to invade Al Anbar itself. I've talked about it before, but I'm serious now. If thats what it's going to take to get you out of Boroglia, then so be it.
OOC: I am still following this thread, but I just didn't take any action as the Confederacy or myself because Al Anbar wasn't doing anything. However, Hrstrovokia, if you have to invade Al Anbar to get him out of Central Boroglia, than I am willing to contribute forces. Unless something really goes wrong in two other situations I think I can spare the necessary manpower and technology.
OOC: It's kind of a "prestige" thing with Central Boroglia, just like Kuwait. Saddam had wanted to leave Kuwait before the war, but the US would not give him anything, even small, in return to get him out. Al Anbar must have something to have us just pick up and leave. Al Anbar must not lose "prestige".
OOC: Well how much "prestige" would Al Anbar lose if it was an occupied state for the next fifty years. And my nation has gotten good at occupying territories, so we could pull it off better than the United States in Iraq. After all, when you occupy the better part of half a planet and territory of an enemy that were extremely found of kamikaze attacks, you get good at occupation. And you get inventive in ways of keeping resistance down. The occupation of the old Dominion of Outer Centauri territory was fun. I let the ESS run lose there for two years and I've had no problems later. And now those worlds are happy, functional parts of the Empire. Ask Hrstrovokia, I think he will tell you the ESS Nightwatch can be very, very persuasive. And at this time, I would almost consider it just due for the so-called "free" government you have created in Central Boroglia.

The Kurds represent a perfect oppurtunity to invade Al Anbar.
3/12/03, The Federation of Greece and Crete open it's Ports to "any foreign ships". Without a doubt, FoG&C's intention is to allow Pro-Kurdish forces to make use of facilities as a precursor to landings.
Al Anbar's Syrian Coastline is just 700 Km from Rhodes Island. The City of Latakia, with it's Port and Rail link to the rest of Al Anbar, aswell as the Airport at nearby Jablah, is a prime target.

The Empire is well aware of the current actions in the Kurdish community, currently we are neutral regarding the creation of a seperate Kurdish state, but we recognize the opportunity that this represents. I agree with your assessment that the best way to get Al Anbar to withdraw from Central Boroglia is to launch an invasion of their home territories.
The Empire is willing to actively participate in Operation Revanche. I will personally lead the Valinon forces in this arena. Admiral Michael Perry of His Majesty's Great Blue fleet is assembling a force centered around the Megladon-class super carriers Bartholomew, Dominion, and the Argentine. The force will also include four battlecruisers, six battleships, and elements of our Atlantea-class submarine force. We will also provide aerospace assistance and we will be contributed 8,000 Sardaukar.

The Government of Al Anbar no longer wishes to see the innocent Boroglians slaughtered by the Hrstrovokian Military and allies. Therefore, we propose a peaceful settlement to this problem. Response to Lord R. Adonis, Lord Marshal of the Sol System Protectorate Zone
The creation of a Kurdish state, is, I believe, as important and as relevant as the creation of a Boroglian state.
The Kurdish people must have their own state, the number almost 30,000,000. And that state must always be in the hands of the Kurdish people as a whole, not one particular group.
Where the British and French of yesteryear failed Kurdistan with the Treaty of Sévres, we will correct. But it will not be with the Pen. It shall be with the Sword.
Signed,
Prime Minister Yuri Tesygran

We have been hearing rumors of your intention to become involved in the on-going conflict in our neighboring nation of Al Anbar.
While old agreements bind our hands against any direct aid to your cause, our officials would be interested in discussing some of our concerns with military or political liaisons from your government. Our primary concern now sits with the risks that the continuing strife poses to our own populations. If it is possible, we must request that any use of WMDs be severely limited and that care be taken to avoid sending weapons of any sort over our airspace (most specifically guided bombs and cruise missiles).
We understand that our Lebanon Province stands at a strategic point, with great access to possible military and infrastructure-related targets in Al Anbar, but our agreements with Al Anbar must restrict our ability to allow overflights by military strike aircraft.
The current status allows non-hostile transportation and humanitarian aid shipments to pass through our airspace and even to land and take advantage of existing transport infrastructures in Western Asia. If you have civilian or government officials that must be in the region due to humanitarian concerns then they will be welcomed in Western Asia and accomodations for their stay can be readily made.
We wish you the best in reclaiming your rightful territory in Boroglia. May your government and people prosper for many years to come.

If President Hussein were willing to end the War, then perhaps Hrstrovokia and Al Anbar will meet at the Table and not the Battlefield.
For now, we shall await further encouraging proposals from the Republic of Al Anbar.
Western Asia's neutral stance on a possible conflict between Hrstrovokia and Al Anbar is disheartening but acknowledged and respected. We would, however, be interested in sending a diplomatic delegation to Western Asia to extend relations between both States.
At the same time, proposals for a possible end to the War in Boroglia would be assessed, but this is subject to two conditions. We would like to see for ourselves Iraqi Kurdistan and the conditions in which 4,000,0000 Kurds live in and we expect Valinon officials to be present in any talks with Anbari authorities.
Foreign Minister Ibaraki
His Majesty Emperor Gustav Alderman I and the United Star Empire of Valinon hopes that the matter of Boroglian affairs can soon be resolved. We will participate in negotiations that would have the following parties invited to attend: Hrstrovokia, Lusaka, and the Confederacy of Boroglia. As for the matter of a creation of a Kurdish state, the Empire remains neutral. We feel that the course of Middle Eastern politics should now be decided up on by the nations of that region, not by outside parties. We hope that the creation of a Kurdish state can reach a peaceful solution.
Sincerely,
Count Viktor Leopold
First Minister for His Majesty's Foreign Affairs
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Al Anbar has come up with a peace agreement that we hold will be in the best interests of all of us, including the Central Boroglian people.
1) An immediate ceasefire.
2) Al Anbar Military Units to withdraw to the capital, Mossel, and depart
from the airport their back to Al Anbar. Al Anbar will have to evacuate all military personnel within 15 days.
3) Hrstrovokian and allied forces will allow all Al Anbar forces to pass through their lines in order to return to Mossel.
4) Hrstrovokia and allies will depart Central Boroglia.
5) The Central Boroglian Armed Forces will demobilze and only keep a ten-thousand man force on duty for internal affairs.
6) An election called. Election process will be monitored by both Al Anbar and Hrstrovokian officials.
7) Al Anbar, Hrstrovokia, and all other active participants will be required to donate to a fund, which will be used to rebuild the Central Boroglian infrastructure. Al Anbar has already invested approximately 750,000,000 million Dinars and is now planning to invest another 350,000,000 in repairs for the infrastructure of Central Boroglia.

Prime Minister Tesygran has agreed to points 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7.
We believe that Boroglia only has a future as a unified state. Central Boroglia must be desolved and elections throughout Boroglia - Confederate and People's Republic, must be held.
The Central Boroglian Armed forces must totally disband. Their weapons must be decomissioned. Internal affairs is the role of the Police, not the military.
These are the only points which we are at odds with. We await a response from Lord Reynard Adonis of Valinon and Councillor Matthew Hallick of the Confederacy of Boroglia.
[OOC: Where's President Igomo of Lusaka gone to these days?
The Empire of Valinon agrees to all points but 5 & 6. We will discuss the reasonings and possible renegotiation of point 5 at a later time. In basic it should be enough to say that Central Boroglia should be demilitarized so that it will not pose a further threat to the other parts of Boroglia As for point 6, we feel that the Empire of Valinon should be allowed to send its own observers to monitor the elections process in Boroglia. Other than that, we would be willing to agree to this treaty.
Sincerely,
Lord Reynard Adonis
Marshal of the SSPZ
The Republic of Al Anbar will agree to allow Valinon to inspect the voting process. However, for point five of the seven point document, Central Boroglia must be allowed to keep a defence force that is able to protect its borders from outside threats. A 10,000-man army does not pose any threat to its neighbours. Therefore, we refuse to change this. Central Boroglia must be allowed a sufficent defence force for the protection of its people.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs

After deliberations in Council, the Confederacy of Boroglia is willing to accept points 1, 2, 3, and 4. We feel that the Central Boroglia area should demilitarize to the level that the other regions stand, such as our own Boroglian Defense Force and the reserve Boroglian Free Militia. These are forces oriented only for the defense of the Confederacy and the professional arm of the BDF has only 3,500 members. The BFM has a fluctuating membership because of its base of only volunteers from across Confederate territory. As for the matter of elections, we will hold elections in the Confederacy to see if the people still have faith in the current government. If the vote proves otherwise, we will move into votes to elect a new Council of Governors, which will then elect a new Councillor. Although we realize that Central Boroglia does suffer from damage caused by the combat that occured in it, we respectfully request that the Confederacy be allowed to donate manpower and expertise rather than monetary funds seeing as how we are a new nation and are still trying to establish a fully stable economy. Finally, we agree request that Valinon observers be present at the elections in both Central Boroglia and in our own elections.
With respect,
Matthew Hallick
Councillor of the Confederacy of Boroglia

We hope that negotiations can progress. Diplomacy, if done well, is supremely preferential to war.

We can assure you that the regret for this position is strongly felt, but the nature of Al Anbar's relations with Western Asia provide this as the only security to our people.
Your delegation will be welcomed with open arms. Diplomatic quarters are being arranged for and embassy property information will be presented to your delegation.
We look forward to expanded relations with your nation and your great peoples.

These are, good sir, very admirable and worth-while conditions. The Kurdish people deserve their own lands and security and negotiations should be open to authorities from all parties with interests.
If it is seen as possible and proper, the negotiation proceedings might be held in Western Asia. We have abundant facilities and we can assure you that security within our nation is very strong.
We look forward to more cooperations in the near future.

OOC: Sorry about not being around much, my life is quite full these days... barely any sleep too lol.
IC
The Baron Intervention Taskforce and Chimaea welcome this offer of peaceful withdrawal.
We have reservations on points 5 and 6 of the plan; we do not recognise Central Boroglia as a soveriegn state.
As for a the creation of a Kurdish nation, we do not want to see the Middle East fractured even further. A Kurdish nation might trigger off worse hostilities; we suggest an autonomous Kurdish region instead.

Central Boroglia must be allowed to exist after we pull out. A referendum can be held, however, asking the native population on whether they wish to stay independent or not. We will, however, lower the amount of troops Central Boroglia may have to 7,000 soldiers.
The Kurdish 'question' has nothing to do with these negotiations over Boroglia and we will answer no questions about them. We will, however, say this: Iraqi Kurdistan has semi-autonomy. They receive our protection and enforce our laws, but they also have their own elections for Prime Minister and for their Parliament. They have the right to raise their own militia to assist in their defence. They speak for their own region and make their own laws on matters not already addressed in Al Anbar.

(ooc:Sorry, I'm still watching. I posted that we'd stopped shiping in new units, and actually pulled out some of our best equipment, right? Lusaka is presently facing a border crisis at home- the African Commonwealth has laid claim to part of the Great Rift Valley around Lake Tanganyika, where Lusaka has an international mining agreement, and..suffice to say that Salisbury is again an allowable term to the south. Not something going over well with African crusaders like Igomo.)
As yet Lusaka has given voice to no dissent from the Hrstrovokian line. Igomo seems agreeable to most of the propositions, excepting that he too seems to feel that Boroglia ought not be divided.

Central Boroglia may exist as a seperate political entity for now, but ultimately, there must be reunification. Partition is out of the question.
As a sign of good will, the Federation of Hrstrovokia relinquishes any claim of sovreignty over Boroglia; be it Confederate or People's Republic. We hope that Al Anbar will make the same declaration. We also would like to see Central Boroglia taking it's place in the Boardsies region, as that is where it is geographically located.
We apologise to the Boroglian people for the unlawful occupation of their lands. As part of Al Anbar's 7 Point plan, Hrstrovokia will release 500,000,000 Kroners in aid to both Boroglian states.
We believe the issue of troop strength in the People's Republic is between the Confederacy and the People's Republic.
It is Chimaea's considered opinion that reunification between Central Boroglia and the Confederacy is the only course of action that we can support.
The Boroglian people are the same all over Boroglia, and Chimaea feels they would have better chances as a single nation than as two, or three.

We agree that at some point the Boroglian people must reunite, but we also think that this is not the right time to unify the two Boroglian states.
As a sign of good will, the Republic of Al Anbar relinquishes any claim of sovereignty over Boroglia; be it Confederate or People's Republic. We hope that Chimaea and Valinon will make the same declaration.
However, in a note to the Confederacy of Boroglia - the army of the People's Republic will not exceed 7,000 soldiers. We will not lower this number further. We hope you understand our wish to keep Central Boroglia well protected.
Chimaea has and never will claim any soveriegnty over any part of Boroglia.
That said, however, we are not yet satisfied with any reasons for non-reunification of the entireity of Boroglia. We will not extract all combat troops until this issue is clarified and settled.
An autonomous region of Central Boroglia is an option, but without unification we see Central Boroglia as a weak link in the Confederacy, specially so close to our allies in Hrstrovokia.

If the People's Republic is to be dissolved, so must Confederacy.
The Empire of Valinon has no desire to establish territorial claims to Boroglia, nor do we currently believe we have any. We are already beginning steady withdrawal of Sardaukar personnel from the boundaries of the Confederacy of Boroglia. However, the Empire does wish to let it be known that at this time it has been alerted by Councillor Hallick of the Confederate government that there was some agreement between the Federation of Hrstrovokia and the Confederacy concerning their continuing sovereignity. We wish to know details of this more before we speak further on the matter of Boroglian unification.
Sincerely,
Count Viktor Leopold

Federal Task Force A has reached the Iswan Port of Gilalee on the Bralisk Sea. As your aware, the situation appears to be shifting in Boroglia. It is my belief that the presents talks will be a success, but given past experiences, deploying the 80,000 troops to the Federation of Greece and Crete would be a most prudent move.
I believe it would benefit us to have an imminent ability to strike Al Anbar, both diplomatically and strategically. If we do not deploy and the talks fail, it would take far too long to make our move, by such time Al Anbar would have reinforced it's Western coast.

There has been no contact with the Government of the Republic of Al Anbar for over four days. As you may be aware, tensions between Al Anbar and United Kurdistan have been rising.
Whether the Anbari authorities are too busy to deal with the matter at hand, we cannot say. But it is somewhat infuriating that we've been sidelined like this. I believe, we are being ignored.
The Task Force stationed at Gilalee is ready to depart for the Mediterranean Sea. The newly established Federal Navy will also play a part in any possible operations. Type 23 Frigate's and Trafalgar class Submarine's will support the Valinon armada.
OOC: Consider the forces that I originally said I would send are moving with you.
