The diplomat: Tiburon only. - Page 2
Kigari sits back, tears running in her eyes. "Nova... how does Tiburon work? Really work?"
Nova smiled. "Hm? Well, it's pretty simple. The people elect the executive branch and the legislative branch to power for a few years, and then new elections are held. The people in power can only hold office for a limited time, though. The government makes and enforces the laws, and the public can hold referendums to reject ones that they don't like. Public debates are held pretty much everywhere on various aspects of givernment. The police, military, firefighting, and EMS services are volunteer-based. and I'm the head of the military during a war..."
*tapers off* "But they don't need to be senselessly killed for my battles..."
Kigari shook her head. "No, that's not what I meant. I meant... I meant my question in the same way you were meaning yours in Roania. What do the people think? How do they live?"
"But how would I know that? I'm just a president... You'd have to ask them..."
OOC: He's confusing her...
IC: Kigari wiped the tears away, and smiled weakly. "Remind me to do so at the first oppurtunity."
OOC: He doesn't know that, and neither of us know how...
IC: Nova hugged her. "Kigari... please don't cry. Someone of your beauty should never cry."
OOC: When something you believe in is proven wrong, you become confused. Imagine how confused everyone would be if democracy was wrong?
IC: Kigari smiled, and kissed him. "Do you really mean that?"
OOC: Now I'm confused. If you believe in the same things I do, then why is your nation so evil? :?
IC: Nova smiled. "Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?"
OOC: *I* don't. I believe in the ideal of the greater good outweighing all individual concerns, and that the upper classes got where they are by being superior to the lower classes on every level. So far, I have seen very little to convince me otherwise, and I maintain that belief because of recent elections in the USA, which show that the lower classes should never be given power.
IC: "Thanks..." Kigari smiled, weakly. "What do you want to do now, Nova?" She asked, slipping an arm around his shoulders.
OOC: Ai. That's not what I believe at all...
OOC: Indeed.
IC: Kigari and Nova walked down a set of game-stalls. Kigari looked at some of the prizes. "Hmm..."
Nova looked at her. "Hm?" *laugh* "Hai, hai..." He walked over to that hammer and bell game, and picked up the hammer.
The cashier looked up. "Hey, Nova. It's 50 cents to play..."
Kigari smiled. Then she paid the person at the milk-carton stand the money, took aim, and threw it towards the cartons. They all shattered. She blushed. "Oops..."
OOC: You can take the girl out of the Inquisition...
Nova raised the hammer and brought it low onto the lever. "Tsiyaaaaaaa!!!!"
The lever made that little cylinder thingy shoot forward, and it hit the bell, making a loud noise and then a cracking sound. As the cylinder returned to Earth, it split neatly in two.
Cashier: 0_0
Nova: ^_^;
Kigari ran over, holding a small bear. "That was impressive!" She smiled, and kissed him.
OOC: I hate my internet connection... signs out at the first moment, and then makes me write the wrong name... I'll have to check the other thread to ensure I haven't called Jean Kigari.
OOC: Jean? Who's Jean?
IC: Nova looked up, slighly embarrassed at what he had done. "I... uh, well... thanks..."
Kigari smiled. "So, what's the prize?" She looked at the game manager. "Well?"
The manager looked at them with slight apprehension. "Um, yes, let' see, your prize... how about... (takes a 3-ft. tall teddy bear) this?"
Kigari looked at it. "Hmm..." She picked it up. "It's cute."
Nova laughed. "Hai. Then we'll take that one. That is the one you want, right?"
"Yes, I do." Kigari picked it up, and held it under one arm. The other she wrapped around Nova. "So, what now?"
*If you're here, you could post...*
No! I can't!!!!! Stupid server.
Um... yes... let's begin...
IC: "Well... it's getting late, and this place would be closing... but the beach would be perfect, ne?" (It's night now. So there.
OOC: Fine.
IC: Kigari smiles. "Beach? I don't have my swimsuit!"
"What?! Ai. Well... um, I'm pretty sure there's a lot of places where we could buy one, right?"
"Whatever you want, Nova... Let's go find one!" Kigari said, happy just to be with him.
Nova smiled sadly.
"Hn... It almost seems like you care about me..." *laughs*
Anger flashed across her face then, and she grabbed his arm, pulling him along until they reached a place where they were alone. She slapped him, twice. "I can't believe you. Are you always so... so blind?"
She backed away from him, looking up his frame and into his eyes. "You think I'm travelling Tiburon for my health? You think we slept together because it was cold? What is it with you? You're always telling me I shouldn't be sad. Well, I'm ordering you to stop being stupid. Start being smart." She moved in, hands cupping his face.
"I'll say it once and for all. I love you, Nova Starfighter. I don't care if you're a president, or a commoner, or anything. I love *you*." She put her head against him, sobs wracking her body. "I've never said that about anyone else... and I know loving anyone is stupid..." tears ran down her eyes and into her shirt. "The last... the last man I... he hurt me... hurt me so much..."
Nova smiled and turned away, still smiling bitterly. "That can't be true. No one's ever really cared for me, and no one probably will. It's a simple fact of life I've come to accept, and I guess the only way I can rectify for my own miserable existence..." Noticing the look on Kigari's face, he hid his anger and sorrow once again. "Don't look that way. It's true. The friendship I have with everyone else is probably just gratitude over various things that I've done for them. No one's cared for me, and no one ever will. All I've caused anyone in just pain and suffering."
Kigari sighed, and moved slightly.
* * *
5 seconds later, Nova was lying flat on the floor, and Kigari was twisting his arms into very painful positions. She shook her head. "Nova, I was a Roanian Inquisitor. It's training you never forget. Now, pick your response to my next statement very carefully. Your life might very well hang on it."
She kissed him. "I love you. You've brought me nothing but happiness, no sorrow, no pain. You're the nicest man I've ever met. I don't care about your past, I care about your present. I would quite willingly sacrifice myself for you... if I don't kill you in 10 seconds because you're being damn stupid!"
OOC: Sorry for not answering for a while... midterm week...
IC: Nova looked up back at her, with a sad-yet-happy expression. "Kigari, you may be an Inquisitor, but I'm a Gundam pilot. I was trained as a tool to be used for war, revenge, rebellion, whatever you want to call it. There's a lot that my life has hanged on in the past." He flipped her up over his back, breaking his left arm in the process, and caught her in his arms, setting her down gently. "I guess you're right. But that still doesn't mean I'm gonna stop fighting for what I believe in, even if I die in the process." Then, his smile fading, "And don't say that you'll risk your life. There's nothing more important than life in this world... except maybe mine."
Kigari stood up, and moved away from him. She faced the wall. When she spoke, it was with an undeniable catch in her throat. "Don't talk to me about what you are, or what you've done..." she said, wearily. "I've seen things that no one should see, done things that no one should have to do... I've killed more people then you've probably ever met."
She turned, and tears started to flow. "They... you think that... the Cardinal, he was my master... and... I had to..." she just crumpled to the ground. "I... I can't talk about it... he had me do things so awful that if the Prince knew the details he would kill me and the cardinal himself. He used me like you would use a gun, just pointing me in the right direction and telling me to kill. He used every Inquisitor that way, saying we were doing God's work."
Kigari shook her head. "Then... there was this girl... the cardinal had ordered me to kill her entire family because she had been a witch, and then burn her... I..." she choked, "I couldn't... and when I came back, and he learned of what I had done..." she moved around, and twisted her arm towards him. She peeled off what seemed to be an ordinary piece of skin.
Beneath it were hundreds and hundreds of red dots and lines, scorched their by incredible heat. Kigari then just collapsed to the floor. "I'm a monster... now, please, just go." She closed her eyes tightly. He's going to leave me. And that would be for the best.
Nova stared, too surprised to say much. "Kigari... what are you talking about? You're not a monster at all..."
Regaining his senses, his voice became a little more confident. "I've continually fought, and in all of the battles I've been in, I've been fighting against so many people like that, killing whenever they wanted to, regarding human life like a plaything. But... you didn't kill her, did you? You couldn't do it. Because you're not a monster. Because you're human!"
He moved towards her. "The acts you have done are no different than the acts of the people I have fought in the past and the people I'm fighting now. But you really believed in God... so much so that the Cardinal was able to use that belief into a weapon. He was using you, Kigari, but I'm confident that you're not... like that..."
He hugged her. "Besides... why would I go?"
Kigari didn't speak. She reached around Nova, and the tears started to flow freely. "All I wanted to do was to go to the Prince, and tell him... but I was scared... he'd kill the Cardinal, yes... but me too..."
Sobs racked her body. "Do you know what that's like? Knowing that I could have put a stop to the bloodshed at any time, but not doing so because I was afraid for my own life?"
Nova spoke softly, with only a hint of sadness. "No, I don't. But, then again, my life has been pretty cheap... so I've been able to fight for what I believe in without that fear."
Kigari smiled, and hugged Nova. "Thank you..." she said into his ear.
OOC: The Return of the Presidential Flashlight...
Nova looked at her inquisitively, blushing slightly. "Nani? Heh... I didn't do anything..."
OOC: It's an oldy, but a goody.
IC:
Kigari smiles. "You have... you just don't know it yet." She stands up. "Come on! We were going to go swimming, weren't we?"
Nova looked up, and turned a little redder. "Yeah... yes, we were... let's go! It's not too far from here at all!"
OOC: Tib, waiting for you in A) Civil War, B) Death of Alexander. You're not Menelmacar, I can expect you to post.
IC:
A few minutes later, Kigari had purchased a swimsuit, changed, watched Nova do an impression of a beetroot, and then walked towards a swimming pool. "Coming?"
OOC: You can't. Not with the amount of work I'm having this week.
OOC: Understood. At least you're honest, unlike her.
However, can I at least expect you to look at the Civil War, after the compromise we made?
OOC: How is she being dishonest? :? And I'm going to try and squeeze as much time as possible out of my days... but I might not make it until Friday...
"I... uh... heh? Um... yes... yes, I am...", Nova replied, not seeming to concentrate that much on any form of language at that point...
Kigari dipped a finger in the water, and then shivered. "Gah!" She fell backwards. A blister was developing. "This... this is salt water!"
OOC: I have salt water in my swimming pools?
OOC: Why not? In a sea-side community it makes more sense than chlorine. Besides, you wanted something to happen to her.
OOC: I did?
IC: Nova rushed over to Kigari, looking quite concerned. "Kigari! Are you all right? What's wrong?"
OOC: And now I've forgotten where. But I'm pretty sure you did.
IC: She backed away from the pool, and into his arms. "Yeah... it's fine..." she said, looking at it. I'm not an Aguan, not really... She looked at the blister, and sighed, sadly.
"What's wrong, Kigari? There's something... I can tell..."
OOC: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2977694#2977694
IC: Kigari sighed. "...did you have your heart set on swimming?" She asked, not answering him. She grabbed his arms and pulled them around her, feeling safe in his embrace.

OOC: Wow. It's been quite a long time since I posted here. You may notice that my RPing style's changed slightly since we started... I'm extremely sorry about it. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it.
OOC2: Waiting for a response at the other one.
Nova exhaled slowly at this. For one moment, one flash of space and time, he wanted eternity to be just like this. She'd been through enough- for once, an end to hostility, to pain, to despair. But he knew this couldn't last at this rate. There was something, and it would destroy from the inside if he didn't destroy it from the outside.
"Ki...Kigari. Please... just tell me. I'm not... I... I can't allow either of us to constantly have this... this nothingness- when we can end it!
Just... just please."
Kigari looked down and sighed. "...I... when I was a little girl, before the Emperor gave me to Sir Simon Tyomyenov to take care of..." she looked away and blinked back some tears, "I was staying with...another man."

In a tone barely above a whisper, Nova probed tentatively, "Was... was it really that bad, Miss Kigari?"
She sighed, and held him closer to her. "I'm sorry... you're right. I... there... before I joined the Inquisition, before I even entered the church, there was a man...Yes, I said that already. Sorry." Kigari closed her eyes and buried her face in Nova's chest. "He... he touched me... in ways I'd prefer not to talk about... it's silly, really."
The young woman didn't sound like she thought it silly, and the salty tears staining Nova's shirt also pointed away from that. "The...the Tsar's father rescued me from that, gave me...gave me a family, a job, everything. And...and I repaid him by... turning against him." Kigari looked up into Nova's eyes. "I don't regret being with you. I don't! I love you. But..."

Nova couldn't bear looking at the suffering on Kigari's face a moment longer, and turned his head up to look out into the shimmering blue daylight waters that seemed to mock her senselessly at every turn.
This isn't even a fraction of it. For me to be scared now will be meaningless.
He looked at Kigari, looked through Kigari, it seemed, to her pure and innocent soul. It was the kind that seemed like it would uplift the spirit. He wiped her eyes.
"Kigari... I don't believe that... that's what he sees it as. The Tsar wanted your happiness above all else, right? Wherever you are happy... is wherever he'll be happy and wherever I shall be happy.
Where will you be happy?"
Kigari looked at Nova thoughtfully for a moment, and placed her head on his shoulder. "Where will I be happiest?" She whispered, her eyes closing as her breath slowed momentarily. Her breasts poked into his side and she quietly answered her own question with, "wherever you are..."

Nova brought her in close and squeezed her once again, for a time that seemed like eternity. Nearly whispering the words, he ended, "I'm right here."
Suddenly, maybe one minute or one hour later, he seemed to brighten up, and led her along the beach, running and stumbling.
"I almost forgot! You can't possibly leave the Crystal shore without visiting the Beach Villa! It's a rule here. They have the greatest mango juice on the face of any planet, period."
Kigari grinned and adjusted her bikini, then took his hand again. "I'll follow wherever you lead, Nova." The young woman stepped a little closer to him, as if she was scared he would vanish. "Anywhere..." Slowly, she stepped in front of him and put her hand on his chest to stop him. "...Nova?"
Her mouth opened and closed for a second, and her eyes darted away. It passed, and then she grinned and kissed him. "I love you. Show me this juice place."

After they had bought their drinks, Nova led Kigari to a small floor on the top of the shack- a room from the top of the Hawaiian-style grass hut, several stories higher than the and with room for just one table, and with no barriers between them and the sea. They stood gazing at the shimmering waters, and then Nova took her by the hand and swung in behind her, holding her closely. In a low, soothing voice, he said, "Kigari? You won't be alone here, I promise. I'll be here... always. I promise."
Kigari spun around to face him, her eyes hard. She took a deep, steadying breath. "Nova Starfighter," she said, smiling. "Was that a proposal?"

Nova appeared to have been taken by surprise- although whether it was ad if he had not expected the question or whether it was as if he had been uncovered, it was impossible to tell. He returned to his characteristic version of the human beet, and responded in a low, soothing voice, "I... uh... suppose it is, yes."
Kigari squealed in joy and tackled him, wrapping her arms around his neck and dotting his face with kisses. "Yes!" She said, happily. "I'd love to marry you!" Smiling, she helped him back to his feet. "Nova, I knew this whole trip had a secret meaning!"
Kigari took a deep breath and held her hand out for the ring. "Hum?"

For a brief moment, Nova stared in abject shock. Only for a moment, though, since prolonging such an action would be... noticeable, to say the least. Shit, shit, shit, shit! The problem was very simple- no such ring actually existed. Well, no such ring existed yet, of course, since he would have to find a way to discreetly purchase a ring.
For the meantime, though, the hastily-prepared charade would have to continue. And it had to be good. It probably would have been good- holding the office of President is part acting- but the point is, it had to be. He smiled and reached in his pocket, to pull up... nothing. Odd. He searched again, in one pocket and then the other, and then returned to his amazement to match the act. He was forced to eek out the words, "It's... It's gone. I lost it."
He looked down at the ground for a few seconds, breathing a bit more heavily. Looking back up with a worried expression, he added, "It may have dropped while I was walking. That's must be it", and half-stumbled, half-ran out of the store. And, using the M-Net, sent a line back home while pretending to search in the sand.
[POTUSF] I need a wedding ring now and I can't explain why. The best you can find.
After closing the link and pretending to be unsuccessful, he trudges back. Unable to look directly at her, he stammered in a disbelieving sort of way, "I... I left it back at Presidential." Don't hate me for this, he silently added.
Kigari nodded, seeming content with this line of reasoning. She leaned forward and kissed him firmly on the lips, pressing her breasts into his chest. "I love you, Nova Starfighter." She whispered, moving forward a little so she was sitting on his lap, her arms around his neck. With a little sob she pressed her face into his chest, trying to hide the fact she was crying from him.

Nova squeezed her tightly and replied, "And I you." Only after he felt the moist fabric did he realize that she was crying. He nudged her head up with his, wiped her tears, and looked at her with some concern. "Don't cry. I'm here. I have been, and I will be." He smiled warmly. With understanding. With love. "It doesn't suit you as much as happiness. Not one bit."
She pulled away and smiled a little. "I'm crying because I'm happy, Nova." Kigari kissed him again and again, her eyes shining now. "...I...I have you." She whispered, curling up close to him. "And I don't need to worry about anyone trying to take me away from you, or anyone trying to take you away from me."
Kigari's smile widened, then turned into a pout. "You know, Nova...this isn't fair..." She stroked a hand under his shirt. "Here I am, all ready for a swim... And you're still in this confounded shirt and pants and everything..." She leaned over and whispered into his ear. "Why don't you go get changed, then you can help me put some suncream on... and then we can go for a swim?" She stretched, showing off the curves of her body and arching her back slightly to showcase her tight bikini-top and breasts. "It will take your mind off of losing that ring, and you look like you need..." She traced her finger over his muscles, "a distraction."

It was not until then did Nova finally resign to the fact that he was human. Hell, he didn't just resign to the fact, he positively enjoyed it. For several minutes, he had forgotten everything except the existence of Kigari in front of him. He nuzzled his head against her torso, loosely holding her lower back.
After a few minutes time, though, he remembered. He was the President. And the equation President + Unknown beautiful member of the opposite sex + Public view was equivalent to a media blitz that would run so fast that real news wouldn't know what hit it. Still not wanting to leave her, he interspersed in breaths, "Mmm... Kigari? We should probably go to a more secluded area. We could have a... lot more fun."
(Well, Nova, fair is fair. I'll post on these two threads and you can post on the other one.)
She smiled. "...I'd like that." Kigari kissed Nova firmly on the lips, then pulled him to his feet. "So, why don't you show me where you want to go?" She reached up to touch his face, then wiped her tears away.

Authors from time immemorial have attempted to capture the singular beauty of the form of nature, the delicate grace and uplifting spirit of the life of the universe. The fragile drops of water clinging to a tree leaf, the caressing rays of the sun. And what rays! In form, it held hidden treasures, the radiance of every world- the same rays that brought poets to pen and artists to brush held the omitted but infinitely exquisite path of a cascade of photons striking tenuously suspended particles of air. Cascades which then bounded, accentuated the slender, nimble form ahead. And, as in the graceful, inevitable swing of a pendulum or a mathematical series converging to infinity, these forms seemed to converge into that known as Kigari. Sigma, the sum- that was what Kigari had represented, and more- every point of her body, from the hair (and let us not spend much time on the hair. Hemingway seems to have missed the point on A Farewell to Arms, making a book some hundred pages too long) to the youthful lines of her face and her torso (silence, you, this is art) had accentuated the woman inside, filled with intelligence and charm and feminine radiance and everything else that everyone had ever held dear in a love. Nova had certainly appreciated this, bathed himself in it, feeling the confluence of the warm rays and the warm skin, and as he continued to immerse himself in the infinite beauty present before him. He closed his eyes, embraced his face against hers, and finally assented with a smile- "A more secluded area, where I'm not the President and you're not an Ambassador and we can be what we are and always have been and always will be."
Kigari looked up at Nova and smiled a little. "I think I'll have to submit a resignation, Nova." She kissed him again, and leaned back against his chest. "After all, it's a clear conflict of interest when I can't refuse you anything, isn't it?"
The young woman looked up at Nova and smiled just a little, then coloured and looked down. "...You have no idea how scared I was that someone else would steal you when you were gone... or that you'd forget about me." She reached up to rub her eyes. "I know it seems silly to you...but you're just...amazingly wonderful. I love you so much. Thank you. For everything."

Nova's quite overwhelmed by this outpouring of emotion. It's only natural- this is at its heart, after all, two people who have intense love for each other, alone by themselves to express it. He brings her closer in (closer than before, if such a thing can be done) and continues in his soft, reassuring, intimate tone. "Kigari... you don't have to thank me for anything. We love each other, and that should be reason enough. It'll be you and me, always, for everything."
Still, it's hard not to get the scientist out of the person. The relevant areas of his brain have been working despite his concentration on the scantily-clad beauty in front of him. He continues in his tone- it's important not to lose the moment. "If you resign, they'll just pull you back... but- political asylum can work..."
