Twin Rivers, New Ruhr
---------------------------------

Random SUVs with machineguns and rebels poured through the city, storming Reservist stations and the River-Patrol Boat base. The poor had finally revolted in Ruhr. Twin Rivers was in the Center of New Ruhr, the island to the east of Ruhr. The city had three major airports, one civillian and two military (a Marine unit and an Air Force unit).

A man sat in the passenger seat of his Toyota Tundra, while a man in camo ran up to him. The man in the vehicle rolled down the window, exposing his face entirely and the articles he was reading: Military Strength of the Ruhrian Empire and Battle Tactics of Rebellion Suppression. The man in camo began to speak:

"We have taken the city, Hitoshi Akito. The governor's hall has fallen to us. So have the reservist bases and the Marine compounds," a rebel with dark complextion and carrying a Celackian standard rifle told the leader of the revolt.

"Where is the governor?" Akito asked calmly.

"Hanging in the City Park, right infront of the Governor's Hall. There was a lot of marines gaurding his hall and we lost about 25 people inside the building alone." He paused but continued confidently, "We do have a marine body count of fourty two in the Governor's Hall and mansion though. We took a lot of prisoners in the PRB base and airbases."

"Good, good. Tell the men to stand gaurd on the city's perimeter. We will use the PRBs to get down to Capetown, they have 10 ships there."

"When will the army units come?"

"We can expect the Ruhrian Military to arrive shortly, but they will be followed in. Our friends in the Armoured Divisions managed to get 1,000 M1A2 Heavies as well as several Motorized brigades and two full attack units. Commander Seni also got 100 KAF-90 ETCs in his unit."

"Amazing what a few phonecalls will do, isn't it Commrade Akito?"

"How many fighters do we have?" Akito questioned. If they did not have air superiority over their controlled sectors, the rebellion would be an utter failure.

"Two Squadrons of F-15X Eagles, one F-111 Aardvark Bombing wing, and two squadrons of F-16XL Strike Falcons. We can achieve air superiority once the pilots are convinced this is for the betterment of Ruhr."

--------------------------------
Global News Network
--------------------------------

"Good Evening, I'm Louis Carter and apologize for interupting your local broadcast." The man looked down as the camera angle shifted to catch a Quarter View, he turned as a small image in the corner grew to 3/4 of the screen. The image was of the rebellion, gunfire spanning the streets as vehicles tore down them, exposing men with machineguns and rifles. Burning cars littered parking lots as bullets were encased in walls. Smoke rose from the small towers over the city. "Today, at about five o'clock, a rebel force completely overran Twin Rivers, New Ruhr. Unforturnately, the force took out one bridge leading to the city, the other three have been gaurded and are currently being fought for. Chancellor Firestorm has announced his side of the rebellion."

The screen image is shifted to a taped message from the Chancellor, "These rebels will not be allowed to take over innocent civilians of Ruhr. It is believed that they have foreign backing and will continue to fight. The Defence Council has ordered several military units to combat them." The screen shifts back to the desk.

"There is no spoken reason for the rebellion, but the DIA has released that the cause is directly related to the last few events in Ruhr. I am Louis Carter for GNN."

"Commander Seni, the Marine unit is right behind us. We are now leading the offensive!" A man shouted over the radio, roughly 150 M1A2 Abrams Heavies were traveling swiftly over the desert in the dusk sky North to Lexicon Military Compound, where New Ruhr's supply depot is located. Security was going to be high, so Seni organized the 5th Ropes Marines (Infantry Marines) to catch rides with the 2nd Motor-Rifle and head into the compound. 25,000 infantry soldiers along with two hundred armoured units.

"Very well, Captain. Continue the advance!" Seni was the leader of the military rebellion, sitting in the commanders chair of his M1A2 Abrams behind his 7.62mm machine gun. Traveling at 43 miles per hour, the division had to only be on the desert path for another twenty minutes before seige range.

The units finally reached their optimal strike distance. The Crusaders and Abrams began the light artillery attack on the base defences. The Motor-Rifle units along with the infantry units began their run for the weakened sections of the line. As well as being a large depot, Lexicon also was a research facility and airbase. It was very convenient to have some 'Laid off' pilots with the mutinous units.

Encrypted Message to Close Allies and NATO/[b]

[b]To: Close Allies of Ruhr
From: Chancellor Victor Firestorm
Status: Urgent
Encryption: Omega-1-Alpha-X

We are under the dawn of a civil war. The populus is divided, even the military. They have began an attack on New Ruhr's military compounds and airports. They haven't taken any Naval sites yet. We ask for light help, an infantry division to secure lines, some small airforce assistance, motorized divisions would also be nice. We urge New Genoa to finish work on the MLRS and Artillery pieces so Ruhr can put them into action if this expands.

Please help.

"Comrade, the War has begin. Ruhr.", the Omzian High Commander Honjak Urakstan's aide, told him.

"I know this day will come.", he said, slowly.

"And we have got a new message. Should we deploy forces?"

"No question needs to be asked. Deploy."

Transmition to Omzian Forces

Due to the size of the force, the only logical place to send them would be Diamond Island. (OOC: IF you look at the map and see the bridges in the south connecting New Ruhr and Ruhr, that island that serves as the midpoint is Diamond Island. It holds a large port, go figure. It would be a good place to set up a mechanized division and hold air superiority)

Thank you for offering forces, we are forever in your debt. Please, we do not ask you fight this war for us. Ruhrians only need protection while Ruhrians supress this. It would be a tragedy for Ruhr to become the cause of a Pacific War.

Transmission to Ruhrian Forces

Hear you got yourselves a little trouble over there, eh? You need help, that much is plain. Question is, how much do you want from Haraki? We can send you three air wings and twenty thousand marines at the moment, and assemble more forces. If accepted, these forces should arrive at Diamond Island within the next three days. The air wings should arrive within a day if accepted.

Will you accept our help?

To: Ruhrian Command

Understood. The 3 PelicanULTRA transports will arrive with 6 F/A-22C Raptor escorts. The air squadrons will also be stationed, with our SAM protection.

Our forces will only react when the situation gets worse. Our speculations suggest that the air squadron can achieve complete air superiority if necessary, looking at the size of the rebel air force assets.

More army units may be called on, at your request.

Message to Harakin Forces

Only one airwing will suffice. As far as soldiers, we would request you send your marines to either Lexington or Forest River City (On the map: 34 and 8 respectively). We currently have a marine infantry division at Leipzig heading north west to secure any northern advancement. It would be greatly appreciated if Harakin Forces can help close gaps.

"Well, Karimov, it seems we are in a bit of a predicament." President Alvarez took a long, hearty (some would say unhealthy) swig from the bottle of Menshk Premium Vodka sitting on his desk. Doubtless there were better ways to help himself think and cope with crisis situations, but at the moment none were readily apparent.

Defense Minister Karimov and Foreign Minister Konstantinov, the president's most trusted advisors and closest allies in his government, sat to his right and left. They were a stark contrast to one another; Karimov a wide, bearish man with a thick beard dressed in full military regalia and Konstantinov wirey and balding in a plain, unassuming business suit.

Konstantinov scratched his brow thoughtfully and began to speak up. "I understand that, Mr. President."

"It's Pyotr. You've known me more than long enough."

Konstantinov would never get used to that, but he complied nonetheless. "Let's sit down and look at where we stand. One of our closest allies is engulfed in a state of rebellion. We have the troops and the manpower to assist." Karimov nodded at that; there were more than enough unoccupied troops to go around. "That's not the question at the moment. What we should be asking ourselves is which course of action will cause us the least damage and reduction in international standing. If we ade the Ruhrian government, who are admittedly decidedly capitalist and less politcally free than we would like, we will take an enormous amount of flack from the CACE. Not only that, the Revolutionary Communist Party will undoubtedly raise a stir; when we first entered NATO they threatened to leave the government and incite violence."

Karimov let his voice be heard after he paused to light a corncob pipe filled with sweetened Turkish tobacco. "Forget international outcry for a second, Pyotr. What about what's right? These men are fighting for the same thing your grandfather and my father fought for over 70 years ago, the right to a decent livelihood and political self-determination." Smoke wafted from his thick, mustached lips as he went on. "Allies or not, Ruhr refuses to remove property qualifictions from their voting procedures and continues to let its poor languish in unemployment and misery with only a token handout to keep them afloat. Even if we are expelled from NATO, there is always the CACE to back us up, and despite my misgivings about entangling alliances I'd trust SeOCC or Celdonia before those bourgoisse capitalists any day of the week."

Konstantinov appeared indignant. "But it's not that simple! Aiding the rebellion will certainly get us expelled from NATO and dragged into war, possibly even sanctioned. Aiding the government could result in internal rebellion, political crisis, and expulsion from the CACE. Sitting on our hands and doing nothing.. well, that will simply displease everyone. We have to think about this calmly and rationally for a moment."

President Alvarez nodded his head in agreement, setting his liquor to the side for a moment. "You're right, and think about this we shall. In the meantime, buy us some time for the moment. Send the Ruhrian government a message, something to the effect of.."

PUBLIC MESSAGE FROM THE ALVAR FOREIGN MINISTRY TO THE RUHRIAN GOVERNMENT

We are saddended to hear that one of our closest allies is embroiled in internal war. You have our deepest condolences, and we send our most sincere wishes that this crisis will soon pass. We have heard your call for military assistance and are considering our response; troop deployments cannot occur unilaterally, and require debate from and the consent of the People's Parliament before action can be taken. In the meantime, we urge the Ruhrian government to engage in negotiations and dialogue with the rebel factions, and perhaps propose a temporary ceasefire. It is our firm belief that peaceful solutions should always be sought before violence is considered an option, even if the men bent on overthrowing your nation seem to disagree.

"Son of a bitch," the President said, looking up from the press release he'd just been handed, his Cabinet seated before him. "Jenson, any more information on the situation?"
"No sir," Jenson replied, looking up at President Hedland and twiddling his thumbs.
"Stop that," he said firmly. "Alright Jenson, what are your reccomendations for support?"
"One unit of Tactical Forces to be dropped into neutral territory. Then, i'm thnking a Division of Paratroopers."
"Any motorized support?"
"Not at the moment."
"Alright, don't make any military preparations until we've setup proper landing zones."
"Right, sir," Jenson said, soon getting up and exiting the room.

Jenson soon reentered the meeting room.
"Well?" President Hedland asked.
"Outskirts of Maletton."
"Right."
"Codenamed 'Watergate.'"
"Any paticular reason?"
"Keeps things out-of-context."
"I see. Okay, so we have 24 TactFor guys going into Watergate as well as a Division of Paratrooper?"
"Correct. The 21st Division is being made ready now that the landing site has been confirmed with Ruhrian military officials. Method for TactFor insertion is also by paratrooping."
"Very good," Hedland said.

The roar of C141s defeaned the Lundcastle Air Base, from which most of the paratroopers were coming from. C141s covered the tarmac adjacent to the runway, hundreds of men next to them with their large packs and rifles.

Soon the first C141s began taking off, 35 of the C141s with the 21st Paratrooper Division in them, and in that last one, a unit of 24 TactFor men equipped with several C4 charges, night vision goggles, gas masks and light bulletproof vests.

Victor crumpled up the message which was sent to him from the Alvarezistani Government. He cursed loudly, "Son of a bitch!" One of the aids picked up the note and read it.

We are saddended to hear that one of our closest allies is embroiled in internal war. You have our deepest condolences, and we send our most sincere wishes that this crisis will soon pass. It is our firm belief that peaceful solutions should always be sought before violence is considered an option, even if the men bent on overthrowing your nation seem to disagree.

Victor sat in a large chair in front of a window viewing the Chancellorial Garden. He set his scotch down on the glass and metal table next to him, staring at the waterfall. "Look how graceful the water pours over those rocks. You see that, Jack? It just simply splits and engulfs them. And the stream that follows that, that feeds the hanging gardens on the south section? They really did a marvelous job on this garden." He looked back at his aids. "Very well. Tell the Alvar Foreign Ministry that if it causes that much trouble, then they do not need to rush."

You have helped NATO win the North Korean conflict. It is simply understandable that your populus is torn between peace and conflict. That was a long fight, many Ruhrians died fighting along your forces. We ask that you only help us defend our cities.

You have also mentioned a cease-fire. We have attempted three of those already, the rebels will not negotiate. I do not want to lose Ruhr to a group of merciless people whom see that there is no other option than murder. We understand your predicament.
05-10-2003, 20:06
"Maybe there is a way out of this. According to our Constitution, we only need parliamentary approval for declarations of war, right?"

Konstantinov nodded at the president's observation. "Yes, but.."

"BUT, it says nothing about covert action or undeclared conflict. And the Military Secrecy Act of 1983 states that the armed forces may deploy troops without parliamentary approval so long as the number does not exced 6000 and no state of war is declared. Hell, we don't even have to inform Parliament that anything is going on!" Alvarezspun around in his chair, a wide grin on his face, thinking he had found the perfect solution to his dilemma. "It's settled, then. Konstantinov.. get the Ruhrian government on the line. Tell them we can help in a limited capacity.. but we need a few thousand standard issue Ruhrian infantry uniforms. Pronto."

OOC EDIT: Also, what kind of arms do Ruhrian troops use? The idea is for the Ruhrian government to know it's recieving assistance, but to keep the public and the international press in the dark.

Over Target 'Watergate'
12:49 PM RST: Maletton, Ruhr

The CO sat near the end of the C141, looking up and down the plane's rear at his paratroopers, all sitting awake and alert, though he knew they didn't want to; it was only because of drugs did they sit awake and alert as they neared the drop zone. He looked up to the pilot who subsequently gave him a thumbs up, the CO nodding in acknowledgement. The door to his right opened and the roarous sound of rushing air and buffetting winds sucked everyone's voice out the window. "OK GUYS, THIS IS IT! MY ROW, EXIT FIRST!"

The CO pressed the mens shoulders, pushing them out one by one as their parachutes opened and they began their descent towards the target 'Watergate.' Soon everyone but him was out of the plane falling towards the ground; one last look to the pilot, and he exited out the back as his parachute opened slowing his descent and violently jerking him in the opposite direction of his descent; he was used to that, however. He looked up and waitched several hundred more paratroopers began their exiting of the jets.

Soon the CO was on the ground; he cut his parachute loose, rounding up the other men. "GET OVER HERE!" one shouted, pointing up to a man whose parachute had caught in a tree of roughly 20 feet in height. He cut himself loose, falling to the ground, the man getting up slowly. The others helped him up, and the small group of men slowly grew back to it's full numbers, like before they had left Oglethorpia. "SPREAD WORD WE'RE TO MAKE CAMP HERE FOR THE NIGHT; MAKE SURE ALL TACTFOR ARE ACCOUNTED FOR," the CO made sure to mention.

Oh yes, that includes no low orbit bombers and those Mach 2384248 hypersonic bombers that can travel up to 500,000 feet.

I think UCAVs can be allowed, though.

Remember, this is 2015, not 3015 or 2065.

The ring of the phone brought Martin out of his blissful sleep. But it didn't quite get him to get out of bed.

Ring...

Martin quickly glanced over at the clock. 4:06 am...

Ring...

"Who would call this early in the morning, for chrissakes?" he said as he picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello Martin, this is Steve Kendell." Kendell was Martin's boss, or, officially his "director". Basically, he just told Martin where to go and what to do and Martin had to hope that it was a good idea. Maybe he should quit the MSN and get into another line of work one of these days...

(OOC: MSN = Mintarian Security Network)

"What in the name of God is so urgent that you have to call at four in the morning for?!" Martin said, quite annoyed.

"Martin, civil war has just broken out in Ruhr. I think that that's a bit more important than your sleep..."

"So? What do you want me to do about it?" he asked before his tired brain processed what Steve had said. Civil war, in Ruhr no less!

"Martin, quit it. I'm calling you to tell you might be called up for duty to help Ruhr, quite soon, possibly. I want you to be ready."

"You could have WAITED until I'd read it in the paper and told me at some time OTHER than four in the morning..." Martin said, but Steve had already hung up...

Well, I'm not getting anymore sleep right now... Martin thought, and headed over to the bathroom and turned on the shower.

We cannot help but notice that your nation is undergoing a great deal of turmoil at the moment. "You buzzed, Comrade?"

"Ruhr defense ministry, correct? Or whatever the equivalent is in your country.. this is Foreign Minister Konstantinov. We've approved an aid package, but to get this done we will need a few things. The first is a few thousand Ruhr standard issue uniforms, or at the very least the camouflage patterns for the same. Second, we will need a press blackout on the areas where our Revolutionary Guardsmen plan to operate. Third, we need a brief list of the types of equipment used by your armed forces, such as small arms, light vehicles, etc.. in case you couldn't tell, we're trying to keep this as quiet as possible."

"Well, I can ship you six thousand Ruhrian Standard Issue combat uniforms, with both desert, jungle, and forest varients. Those are the three climates in Ruhr, so I assume that they will be suffice for your troops. If you need that many." Fady (Defence Minister) was relieved that the Alvars would help. "As for the press blackout, we will put a press blackout in most combat arenas. It was by chance that the Global News Network had a station in New Ruhr. We will do our best to enforce that."

Fady paused and sighed. "As for equipment, Ruhr uses M60A5 machineguns, which can be provided to any heavy machine gunners, a variety of mortors, and typical M4 and M16A5 standard issue carbines."

I have been granted authorization by Congress to ship 300 Crusader 2 howitzers to your nation. Cargo ships have already left port. New Genoa is also plannning on deploying the 91st Marine Division, under the command of General Jason Hashman. However, we do need official authorization from your government and where you wish for these men to be deployed." Carter took a brief sip of water and waited for Firestorm's response.

If we can roll the Crusader dos's down to Dark City, we can begin an offensive on the rebels in the south." Victor looked out the window, "as far as troop numbers go. Please do not oversell troops. And we will be happy to pay for any Crusaders destroyed in conflict. There are an unknown amount of armoured vehicles the rebels have, and not all of the M1A2s have been scrapped. There are roughly 250 more sitting in different reserve bases in the islands and New Ruhr."

"Yes, sir," replied Carter's aide.

"Yes, I know, Mr. President. We'll do our damnedest to uphold the honor of the New Genoese Marine Army. Our boys are ready to rock 'n roll," spoke the sinister Hashman.

Message to the Matich Government

We thank you for your support in our time of need. Currently, we are running short of locations to send troops. Since we do not know where the rebel concentration is, we might as well divide the forces. Right now, there are 415,000 troops in New Ruhr. The other 895,000 troops in the Army are currently in New Ruhr. There is 250,000 troops around the islands and 150,000 remotely located around the world. The Navy Infantry will begin their assault up the twin rivers to try and cut off rebel troops. If you wish, we would like for your soldiers to land at Ryatt City (Position 3 on the map). Then they can be close enough to most forces and are guaranteed a mobile area with five highways heading out of hte city.

Minister Peters, of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, shook his head, "Why do we send 50,000 troops to them when they only send 10,000 to aid us?"

"Because we can, Mark. It is always better to send as much help as we can, and we must realise that they are strapped for defence right now. Anyways, they are going to Leipzig. We have a marine unit spread out pretty thin there, and what is heading towards Lexicon?"

"We have an armoured unit heading towards Lexicon, as well as a Marine Motor-Rifle division," replied Fady. Fady had a tall glass of beer in his hand, he generally had one every time he came into Firestorm's office. Victor sat on the couch, the couch looked out the tall window facing the Nuremburg Bay. Crystal Blue water allowed for any swimmer to see exactly what was coming. A storm was rising though, and it was passing over the bay towards the Chancellor's Hall.

"Well, we must keep Lexicon in our hands. Ok, I am going to catch a nap. These days are going to be very long days." He exited the right door to his chamber.

Colonel Walker shivered. He knew what Hashman was doing was wrong. True, Walker did feel sympathy for the poor who were being cheated by the extreme Ruhrian capitalist system, but he also had a sense of honor and pride towards Ruhrian loyalists.

They had been there before for New Genoa and this is how Hashman is going to repay them? thought Walker.

He whispered to his best friend Gary, "We cannot let General Hashman go through with this. If this happens and we betray Ruhr -- think of the consequences! Trust will be flushed down the toliet, relations severed, tourists deported. Life as we know it would change drastically. We have to stop him."

Gary nodded, "Yes, I know, O noble friend of mine. For, I cannot afford for our two nations to cut relations with each other -- for my beautiful girlfriend resides in New Ruhr! But Hashman is headstrong. He will not listen to our requests. I sense that there will be a civil war within the 91st, just as bloody as the one we're being sent to."

Colonel Walker sighed, "Gather every damn New Genoese Marine who thinks as we do... I know we are not the only ones."

"Agreed."

The Arctic Attack Fleet had been used in mercenary battle three times, her fleet was being sent all the way from Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska to the North Sea and sometimes the middle of the Atlantic. It was time for a change in command. She would certainly be doing things better and now was a time to start changing. She had ordered the fleet to sail south. 120 warships ranging from carrier to frigate had begun the long sail to their tactical positions throughout the Pacific.

OOC: Ruhr, mind if I go for the Artic Attack Fleet? If you don't, they'll just head to your place and land the Marines so resupply operations can occur. If you want me to butt out, I will.

IC: "Sneezy, our forces are in place." Secretary of Defense Bunker smiled thinly despite his grim voice and the seriousness of the situation. Ever since the aborted attack on New Genoa by Melkor, the Adejaani military had been on the up. With vast numbers of new systems coming on line, it was time to take action.

"Remind me again what we've got there." Vice President "Sneezy" Aireserkeiel ordered, taking a sip of water after dumping two asprin tablets in her mouth. The shock of a de facto hostile power directly against Adejaani had caused a nasty ripple and her cousin was off trying to negotiate peace on that front. How it was such that events taking thousands of light years away could affect the people back home....."

"Well," Bunker opened his folder and a technician put a map on the screen "we have six Nimitz carriers, eighteen Ticonderogas, eighteen Arleigh Burkes, twenty four Perrys, eighteen Seawolfs and eight resupply ships in the primary Naval punch. We've also got four Wasps and their Marine Battalions plus two Iowas hanging back to land. We'd need some fancy refuelling work too, but we can get some standoff jammers and bombers from the Air Force too. If worse comes to worse, a mixture of land and carrier based mid air refuellings can occur now that we're all using the same type of refuelling system."

Bunker paused for a sip of Cherry Coke (his favorite), but had it mixed with some alcohol to calm his nerves. "Seems that if we keep pushing the Fleet north, we'll run smack bang into a Fleet belonging to the rebels. But we're ready for them, Sneezy. We may be outnumbered, but we'll fight them to the last."

Tiburonese Final Forces landed in Stuttgart, commanded by Captain Sano Amaraisa. The bright sun almost blinded them the first time, since they had been holed up in the AX-NO5 Transporter for so long. All of the members knew of the situation, which is why they were so worried. They knew that Ruhr's people were still oppressed to a degree, and they knew that the president's orders were to help Ruhr to the best of their abilities. But what was good for Ruhr? They knew that even the president was split on whether to support the rebels or the loyalists.

Lt. Milestone: "So, sir, what exactly are we going to do?"

In her office, Katarina, now calm and composed, reads a copy of the request Victor had sent out. Chuckling at the beauracratic mistake that caused a copy to be sent to her, she begins to draft a response.

Greetings to Victor firestorm, esteemed P.M. of Ruhr.

We would like to apologize for our rash words and actions in the head council meeting the other day, we did not think out our actions or words, being kicked off the head council merely came as a rude awakening. Despite what was said we would like to keep diplomatic channels open, revoke our resignation of NATO, and hope to regain a position in the head council someday. The feelings of resentment and anger have drained away from us, and we realise the stupidity of our feelings, and the validity of the arguments you presented. Our nation cannot afford to lose you as an ally, nor to lose the security of the NATO alliance. can you, will you forgive our insulting words and stupid actions? As a token of our goodwill, we hereby extended the offer of aid in your time of need. If you wish we will send, regardless of your decision on our diplomatic sendings, 8 wings of aircraft(whats the normal size of a wing?), 3 armor divisions, 25,000+ marines, 800 normal SpecOps agents, and a team of 12 Celestials, the most highly trained of our agents.

Your humble servant, and hopefully your friend,
Empress Katarina of Derieties

After an hour of intensive writing, Katarina leans back in her chair, reading the final draft. Amid the many scratched out sentances and words, lies a masterpiece of deception. After downing a glass of brandy to strengthen her resolve she chuckles. typing the letter herself, Katarina is already planning her next move in this game of wits. she sends the letter out instantly. Nervously licking her lips, she silently prays that he will take the bait. The letter leaves the nation without the text of the message being seen by anothers eyes, and the physical letter was only seen by her courier. She also sends a copy of the message electronically, and within it tells Victor that a hardcopy of the message, sealed with the royal seal and sent by private courier, should arrive at his office within the day.

Now all she had to do was wait.

IC:

Dear Empress Katarina,

I am pleased to see that you wish to rejoin NATO, once more. Due to your former status, I will see it fit to simply let you in. As a former member, and one of such great power you should not be punished by our decision. I am certain what you are doing will benefit your nation.

After reviewing with my council, we would request you send your air forces to some northern sections of New Ruhr. Naples, Channelton, and Calan are all good places to station planes. Naples is very short on land defence. If you wish to send your forces there, please, by all means. Unfortunately, time is short. The Rebels have taken Capeton and are now open to get sea reserves. The 8th Task Force has been recalled to blockade the port. They have not been able to reach the sector though due to a cyclone in their way. They are expected to arrive within the day.

If you have a small naval asset to provide, I would be happy to have them serve alongside Ruhrian Imperial Navy forces. Once again, time is short and a new issue has come up. Please send your forces, welcome back into NATO.

Aireserkeiel's eyes widened at the intelligence report. "They outnumber us, outcapability and outfight us. Let's not engage them. What then are your recommendations?"

Bunker studied the map, the service chiefs at his side. "Diamond Island. Our good friends from Omz are there already. It's interesting, they've asked us for help to support some aircraft. We'll land our four thousand odd Marines on the Island, then let them use our Landing Ships for refuel and rearm operations."

Aireserkeiel nodded. "What about the Navy?"

"They'll stick close to the Ruhrian mainland, but we're prepared to sortie to cover the ports, provide air cover and to keep the supply lanes open." Bunker pointed at various ports and made circles to indicate where the ships were to deploy.

"Snap to it, then!"

Capt. Amaraisa: "I wish I knew. Let's explore this place and find out exactly what the hell is going on."

The convoy of Type 90 armored transports rumbled along the road to Twin Rivers, bearing their cargo of the 800 men of the 4th Revolutionary Guard Counter-Insurgency Brigade. The men packed into the cramped transports all felt slightly out of place, with their Ruhrian uniforms and M4 carbines in place of their standard array of hard plastic armor and OICWs.

The men in the lead transport were no exception, but few let it get to them. The Revolutionary Guard were the toughest soldiers Alvarezistan had to offer; tough, well-trained, fanatically loyal, and more than willing to die for their country in foreign lands whose names they could barely pronounce. The leader of this squadron, Sgt. Amulyov, was a battle scarred and grizzled veteran of the covert actions in Lonisoma and N0rth Korea, a competant officer whose mind focused non-stop on his objectives and how he could achieve them. Oh, he had a wife back in Salek, and a 12 year old daughter, who were doubtless wondering where Daddy was off to this time. But he didn't now, not while the fate of his country and the lives of his men rested in his hands.

The sergeant took a moment to make sure the rest of the men were similarly focused. "Allright boys, that bump you just felt means we just lef the main road and in 10 minutes we'll be on the rebel position. As you know, our target is a fuel dump for rebel armor just outside of Twin Rivers. You know what you're supposed to do. Get out, harass the infantry and keep them occupied, wait for the air strikes and chopper support to put some rockets in those fuel storage sights, and then get the hell back in your APCS! Got it?"

"Yes sir!"

"We'll be part of the platoon assaulting the west flank. Check your night vision sets one more time, and prepare to move out!"

And move out they did. Suddenly the Type 90 stopped and opened its hatch, discharging its contents into the night. The squad took up positions on the small ridge overlooking the site and began to open fire, as the night erupted into a storm of noise, light, and fury. Amulyov saw two of his men go down, but in his night vision goggles he saw his squad give it back to the rebels blow for blow.

Suddenly, he heard the sonic boom of the promised air support off the Alvar carrier in the Ruhr channel. And not a moment too soon; the more they stuck around, the more Amulyov was convinced the rebels would bring in armored support, of which his brigade had none save for a few light tanks. Four squadrons of MiG-23BN fighter bombers, two squadrons of A-10 Warthog tank killers and six Hind helicopters soon entered the field of battle and released their laser-guided payload on their targets; vehicle docks, troop locations, and especially fuel storage sights.

The infantrymen didn't wait to see whether the strikes were successful. "Don't stand there staring at the pretty colors, go dammit! They'll be on our ass any second once they figured out what just happened! Back in the Type 90's!"

(OOC: The 6000 promised Guardsmen landed in Ruhrian territory are carrying out raids like this all across the outskirts of rebel held territory outside Twin Rivers, basically consisting of a few hundred mechanized infantry launching night raids with light tank and air support. The purpose of these strikes are to harass the rebel lines, destroy valuable supplies, and most importantly keep the rebels harassed, fatigued, and off guard and thus more vulnerable to a conventional assault.)

Woah! Cut down that navy size! I mean significantly! Do you know how many ships you are sending? 185 ships! Not to mention the sheer amount of battleships and carriers. I would suggest you cut down on that and the airwing sizes. Those airports really don't hold that many fighters. Maybe two to Calan, one to the others. 185 ships have no coverage or too much coverage to be effective!

IC: "Marines are ashore". Brigadier General Riemes, commander of the Marine forces noted snappily as Vice Admiral Harris, commander of the Naval Forces nodded. These were Light Infantry, mainly. The heaviest combat power came from mortars and, at most, helicopter gunships or air support. The latter was provided in earnest, considering six carriers waiting offshore. An engineer party was also working to clear a simple "dirt runway" and then things will get better. Once that happened, the Mobility Brigades can kick in and the KAF-90E tanks and several more Brigades could get airlifted in by C-17 transports. It was expensive to do so and the forces commited were great, but it was quick deployment and time was what counted.

"Admiral Harris. AWACs surveilance reports sporadic readings. It seems someone else has landed on Diamond Island." The young Lieutenant looked nervous and his hands shook. "Intentions are unknown."

Harris took the report and rubbed his jaw, slightly encrusted with stubble. "General quarters! Launch a cat with a D/TARPs pod. I want to see who's there."

The first C-17 transports landed on one of the Diamond Island airports. Not even shutting down the engines and not stopping to refuel (tankers would meet them halfway home). Although no tanks were yet included, as there was no armored threat detected, shifting a few dozen armored vehicles and more heavy weapons and artillery brought the Adejaani contingent to three Brigades of Light Infantry (roughly 24,000 total), plus the four thousand already there.

Meanwhile, in the air, the Tomcat II with a Digital Tactical And Reconnaisance Pod (D/TARPS) was headed towards the cluster of radar contacts. Armed with a two each of HARMs, AMRAAM-Cs and Sidewinder-Xs and its gun, they will see what exactly was going on.

"Listen up ladies. Our allies in Ruhr are currently having a civil war. We've been ordered to help out our friends in their AF to restore order. Now I know you all are now itching for a chance to show them who's better at flying, but remember to keep your celebratory dances to a minimum. I know how you all dance, and it ain't pretty!" Well, about 5 miles into those mountains is Lexicon. In other words, imagine Area 51....that is Lexicon. And all of the forces in Lexicon are rebellious.

Greetings,

Regarding the Ruhrian crisis, our U-3 surveillance aircraft has recently detected several objects just off the shore of Diamond Island, in Ruhr. We found this highly suspecious. Do you confirm this?

Omzian Forces

Diamond Island is in the center of a trade line. Most vessels heading to Ruhr go through there, of course you will have picked up several objects. Do not forget that the Ruhrian Navy maintains a presence in all sectors. You might want to be a little more clear on this, next time.

"Mr. Director, our first proposal for an outpost in Ruhr has been denied. We could ignore an establishment here, but with such a large scale war taking place I advise highly against it sir."

"Very well then. I want 200 agents on the main island and 50 on the smaller southeastern Island. We cant take any chances of POW's being wrongfully detained. Don't send any armed troops over there, we dont want any conflict in this."

"Yes Sir."

------------------------------------------
The Battle for New Ruhr Begins
------------------------------------------

Lexicon had been taken, a force now composing of 35,000 men held the Dark Desert, and the southern portion of the mountain Chain. Four hundred and fifty armoured vehicles made up a sheer might, which could bring the rebels to victory. A General named William Larson had replaced Seni as overall commander. Larson had seen action in several conflicts, the last leading the 72nd Armoured to take Pyong-yang in the North Korean Offensive. The victorious battle cut off several thousand Koreans from their supply lines and led the NATO Coalition to an overall swift victory.

The working rebels in the south now had a new supply of forces, the Kristatatans. Their units were powerful, but no Ruhrian knew of their presence. Now the Rebels had two strongholds, one with friendly support but close to Diamond Island, and one that could draw support from secret allies in the North. This wasn’t what the Rebels wanted though. The Rebels wanted to overthrow the government. The Rebels wanted to establish their union and shift the Armed Republic to the Democratic Republic. The Rebels wanted Parlaiment.

In order to accomplish this though, they needed to completely take New Ruhr, they needed to bring the Ruhrian Channel into a battlefield. Ruhrian Channel separated the two islands that made up the main body of Ruhr. It was essential to take Diamond Island, to establish a middle ground for both Artillery and Air Dominance. It was essential to take Nevada City to both sway the government and have a sector for their new naval forces to port. It was essential to drive all Ruhrian Loyalists out of New Ruhr.

Hitoshi Akito leading the people’s rebellion in the south had remonstrated the Government’s failure to accommodate for the lower class’ needs. While healthcare and welfare had been provided, the government did not give them the representation they had yearned for. Parlaiment had not changed the constitution, which gave only adult property owners and businesses the right to vote. But why was this not enough? Married couples shared their possessions, which gave the spouses the right to vote. Was it not enough? The government had given plenty of opportunities to purchase small sectors of islands for cheap, that would have counted as property! Why was this not enough?

Firestorm began a new era in Ruhr, one which boosted all sectors of government funding (ie: education, welfare, defence, commerce, ecology, healthcare, etc.). His council had made great strides to provide, to avoid this conflict, to keep Ruhr under one flag. It failed. The populace was split, the working class had revolted, protested, rebelled. The middle class was torn between sides, although they had no reason not to support the government. The Upper Class maintained a firm hold on the current government. No one in the Ruhrian Command new of a Military mutiny either.

The Pacific Fleet sailed around Ruhr, inspecting vessels and maintaining order. However, the Arctic Attack Fleet also set sail. CINCPACFLT (Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet) viewed this as an act to further secure the poor defences. He had no idea what was going to be the largest naval confrontation since the Battle of Leyte Gulf. What had once been a competent Defence Intelligence Agency had become the downfall of the Pacific. This war would affect NATO mostly, as well as the allies of Ruhr, namely New Genoa, Alvarezistan, Azazia, and others. It would certainly affect the Pacific. When Parlaiment passed the Pacific Peace Act of 2014, the Ruhrian Imperial Navy was given the duty of protecting the seas, its traffic, and other nations in it. If the rebels succeeded, and Parlaiment, more specifically the government itself, was overthrown, this plan would be overthrown. The funding to protect the world as they knew it would certainly be transferred to other sectors a new government would see fit, like welfare or education. This would result in the utter loss of a Ruhrian Power, as well as the loss of trade from the continue Raider Battles.

Options for the current government grew scarce, as opposition arose, it was time to take definite action. The 41st Ropes Marines would be sent in. Target: Twin Rivers.

Kelanis Naval Headquarters -- Lorraine, Kelanis

Planning Phase of Operation: Ruhrian Bad-Ass

ooc: what can I say, I like to be creative with my op names.

IC:
It was pitch dark outside of KNS Headquarters. A raging thunderstorm was passing overhead, and Rear Admiral Jimmy Foster, Regional Commander, couldn't even generate a meaningful thought as driving rain hammered the rebarred-concrete, steel-reinforced roof of the now-renovated venerable building.

"God damnit, the Ruhrians seem to really know how to create a convincing civil war." The expletives that followed were drowned out by an earthshaking clap of thunder.

A senior chief petty officer knocked on the door. Foster straightened himself up. "Come in."

"Sir, the SecNav is here to see you."

"Well, don't just stand there, send the man in!"

Kelanis Secretary of the Navy Keith Barnes, a thin, wiry man of 50, came round the corner as the petty officer saluted, carrying a black suitcase.

"Sir," Admiral Foster said, getting out of his chair. The two shook hands.

"I'll get right to the point, Admiral," said Barnes, sitting down abruptly and preparing to speak, but Foster cut him off.

"Coffee, Secretary?"

Barnes shook his head dismissively. "No, thanks." "Now, where was I? Oh, yes. The Ruhrian issue." As if on cue, a blinding flash of lightning illuminated the room.

"As you may know, fighting has erupted in and around parts of Ruhr. The government of Kelanis has not yet decided on what side the nation will intervene on behalf of -loyalist or rebel- but it has been determined that the forces of Kelanis will more than likely be put into a combat situation in order to help suppress the fighting, minimize property damage, and bring about a democratic solution to the problem, which appears to have been instigated by a very large gap between the upper and lower classes of the Ruhrian people."

"...and what does this have to do with me in particular?" Foster said idly, putting away his 4th coffee of the conversation. "The Army would be much better suited to handling a civil war."

"You don't know of the circumstances," replied Barnes irritably. "The rebels are remarkably well armed and organized, and are driving on major centers of population as we speak." He drew a breath. "We want the navy to lead the charge."

Foster dropped the coffee cup; it shattered into a bajillion pieces on the floor. "You didn't just say what I think you said."

"That's right," Barnes replied. "I want all fleets on Orange stand-to status within a week."

"That's impossible," snarled Foster. "Half my ships are in refit right now, you just about gave me a heart attack when you said "lead the charge", and all the sailors are on leave. What the hell is this going to be, a Goddamned amphibious operation? I am NOT going to prepare an amphibious landing for you in a week, and even if I could, I wouldn't put so many lives on the line. Ruhr has plenty of allies and support as it is!"

"No, no. No amphibious landing, yet. Odds are the Army will be mobilizing several divisions of Marines for just such a contingency within the next few days, but until then our only intentions are to use several fleets to prevent the rebellion from spreading, pick up refugees, and if needed, strike potential targets."

"Potential targets? You don't even know what the hell we're supposed to be shooting at, seven days away from putting to sea?" Great, another intelligence f*ckup, thought Foster.

"No, because we haven't decided who to support yet!"

"Well, I, for one, am not going to support any kind of plan besides aid shipments until you bureaucrats come up with a concrete plan."

"You may not have much choice. I need those fleets ready." Barnes got up and left without another word.

Mare was point left. He swept his eyes over the area looking for signs of human movement. None... The sun was staring to rise. He motioned his hand towards the centre, the team leader, Sam Jucz. Sam understood it and motioned to the other team members. Each man took out their bedrolls and set them up. One man stood guard and would switch in six hours. The flight of planes were all formed up now. The A-10s in the middle, flanked on all sides by the Super Hornets. In all there were 50 planes; 24 A-10s and 26 Hornets. They would arrive at the designated points in Ruhr in about four hours, after an inflight refueling in case they needed to change their landing spots. Reports from command were being relayed up to the flight, and the news of fighting spreading in Ruhr didn't raise the hopes of the pilots flying to help their friends.

"Clearance has been granted. Prepare to dock!"

There were twenty vessels, each moving closely to the shore, with several LCAC's speeding ahead of them. Tensions had risen between the loyal and those plotting to side with the Ruhrian rebels, but General Hashman had no clue of the recent irriatations between the two groups.

"Arrr... there she is. Ruhr. Beautiful, ain't she?" he commented.

"Yes, sir, General," responded the young lieutenant.

"Are the men ready? Remember, once the city has been scoured and reviewed we prepare the ambush. I'll expect that we'd be ready in, say, three hours. After that, contact the supreme Ruhrian commander and his staff in Leipizig to a meet us," he spoke. A smile spread across his face and he snickered, "A damn friendly meeting."

Everyone Pause!

There is way too much confusion here. This hole troop sending thing has gotten out of hand. No more observers sent, Global Intelligence, I said you are out...stay out.

Listen, this is a Civil War. I will feel really bad if other nations send troops who die because a bunch of Ruhrians decided that they couldn't stand how pathetic their lives were and wanted to make everyone elses' lives miserable. I really don't want that. This is really meant to be CIVIL...meaning APTO, NATO, and CENNA are probably the only forces whom will be allowed in...

It seriously has gotten out of hand. What I asked for is peacekeeping forces, not an entire conflict being fought for. I understand you are all trying to help. Thank you...just keep it down. You especially Omz.

NOW: To explain what is happening IC

The biggest problem: Diamond Island. Diamond Island, on the map, is unlabeled. It is the island that connects the bridges between the two major Ruhrian Islands. It has a large military compound, and currently a lot of forces. Unfortunately, it is a sitting duck.

The next biggest problem: Where is Lexicon? Lexicon is in the northern section of the Desert, right on the edge of the mountain range to the north of it. It is big...picture Area 51. That is what it is like...but bigger.

It is the first week of this conflict. The Rebels control the southern portions of New Ruhr (the eastern island) and Lexicon Military Compound (secretly). The Arctic Attack Fleet is also mutinous and heading south. It consists of 120 capital ships alone, most nuclear power. Let us put it this way, Ruhrian Ships kick ass....

And because I know SeOOC (yes, typo intentional) is plotting with CACE to interfere, it might be best to just go over what happened because some people do not understand the Ruhrian voting:

Because Ruhr went through that little protest a while back, Victor gave the people a Universal Healthcare, a welfare program, and some money in their pockets right away. They demanded the right to vote, well...under the Ruhrian Citizen's Ammended Rights Act of 1842, all adult property owners and businesses can vote for a Parlaiment member in their borough. However, this neglected to cover non-property owners and people got fed up with it. Firestorm gave them the right to vote for local and state governments then. Meaning, they still don't have national vote, but they can vote on what will happen in their own areas because those would ultimately decide what happens to them.

OK, Also...I kinda lost track of who sent what forces where. Please...if you can, post where your troops are. Also, Derieties...your forces are way to godmoded. I don't want 45,000 troops and 185 ships off my coasts. Take that number down a lot!

Now, if there are any more problems, please post them in the next few posts. This will be the Q & A section of the thread.

1) Akito is the Civillian Rebel commander. There will be a few more in the RP, just be patient. He is the main guy though. As far as the Military Commanders go, there is Larson and Seni, as well as Admiral von Wulfe of the Arctic Attack.

2) Light Armoured Vehicles, mostly. You know, what you sold me...the IFVs.

3) Yes, three to be exact. ;)

1) When will the Adejaani and Omzian forces be attacked by the rebels?
2) Will there be any bombing runs by the rebels, so I can have a air-to-air battle?
3) Why is your name Ruhr?

1) Seeing as how you all have begun to flee Diamon Island, there might be a question as to when you might be attacked by them. But it depends on where you flee to. If you go east, you are in Rebel Territory. If you go west, you are in a "loyal" territory. You really do not know when the rebels in Ruhr itself will stand up.

2) You will be suprised, as I have mentioned before, they have gotten quite the airforce by taking bases.

3) I am German, nuff said.

As it stands, Adejaani forces are shacked up near Northern islands. There's a Battalion each in Katama and Edwarton (a thousand Light Infantry with not much more than mortars for heavy weapons).

Two carrier battlegroups (two Nimitzes, six Ticonderogas, six Burkes, eight Perrys, six Seawolfs and two replenishment ships), plus the two Wasp landing ships the Marines came in are hanging about on the southern edge, more or less forming a cordon.

Aircover as provided by the Carrier Air Wings extends in a rough circle to just beyond Derman and South View (Omzian forces are there), slightly short of (though can include) Diamond Island and an equivalent range out to sea.

Their orders and Rules of Engagement are to defend, never attack unless there is clear and present danger to Adejaani or Omzian forces. We understand it's Ruhr's war, we're just here to make sure people with guns don't start shooting at other people.

Got a problem with this?

The Ruhrian Islands may be large, but they do not house enough room for the amount of troops already on the way. Thank you.

Orders from Ruhrian Military Command:

Stay put! Rebels are rising in the northern sections of New Ruhr. This rebellion is greater than anticipated and likely to spread (OOC Wink). More Ruhrian forces will arive to help secure Nuremburg, but right now your military components are all that is truly defending it.

(Ah. I only have 4,000 infantry there.)

The SOET have set up a perimeter all around Nuremburg. There are three WBT-1s at the airfield, with 140mm cannon enhancements to protect it if needed. A number of JOAPs and Black Eagles are in the city, and are trying to keep a low profile. Several Stormblades were landed at the airport, ready to respond to any threats to the Ruhrian citizens. Planes would come in every now and then with supplies and any needed replacements for broken parts.

****Secure Communication to Ruhrian Military Command****

Attack Squadrons 4 and 8 are now at their designated points, awaiting orders.

The Preator wishes to know if you need more support in aircraft. We can have 4 more squadrons scrambled to your bases immediately, with more to follow if needed. Please advise.

The Battle for New Ruhr
--------------------------------

Victor’s promise to hold New Ruhr was failing. It was now known that the force from Lexicon was not a loyalist force, but now it was attacking Alvarezistan’s troops sent to retake Twin Rivers. Protestors had stormed the Chancellor’s Hall, perhaps it was time for Victor to step down, let someone else control. But were these protesters who supported the current government? Or were these just an example of what was to come. One thing was sure, there was two fleets heading to Ruhr. The Arctic Attack Fleet was nearly at the Ruhrian Barrier Reef, and the Indian Ocean Fleet had only a few hundred miles to go. The Atlantic Fleet was now sailing through the Luporumese Panama Canal to meet up with any loyalist forces. The public had fled to their homes, staying inside as rioters moved throughout the cities. The Reserves had been called up, and two Armoured Divisions had crossed the Nuremburg Bridge, the 77th Armoured Cavalry and the 33rd Rogues Marines Armoured Unit, and were now heading to cover the evacuation of Ruhr.

A Ruhrian Armoured Division consisted of 300 tanks, but these two units were special. The 77th had 720 KAF-90E ETC’s and the 33rd was made up of 640 KAF’s. While these divisions were very large, they also had been mobile. The units were split into several battalions, each moving to different sectors of New Ruhr. The heavier of the concentration had been at the Nuremburg Bridge with its connecting city of Nevada. The Home Defence Fleet, also the reservists of the Ruhrian Navy, were bringing people across the Ruhrian Channel to Nuremburg. New Ruhr was to be a battlefield, it already had over 300,000 troops on it.

Victor Firestorm was uncertain of the Derieties presence; too many ships were of the Ruhrian Coast. He sent several messages to the Empress requesting that she pulled out part of her forces, since they only instigated more rebellion. She refused, Victor now knew there was outside interference. He also had known that the Kristatatan forces had landed in Capetown and were supplying the rebels. What scared the Ministry even more, was the fact that Alvarezistan was in CACE.

It had only been known for a little while that CACE was preparing something. What they were plotting, no body knew. Were Alvarezistan’s forces loyal to the cause of reuniting Ruhr and organizing a revised government? Or was their presence a surprise for the Ruhrians? Were Seocc and his communist allies using Alvarezistan to achieve a stronghold and manipulate the populace? NATO had promised to help, but the Ministry was confident that they can suppress the rebellion themselves. But the most important alliance was the greatest powers of the world combined, CENNA. Ruhr had been accepted into the Nenyan-Noldorin alliance, but they had been slow to act. An emergency meeting had been held, yet not one state has taken a definite stance on the subject.

It was time to meet force with force, and New Ruhr will the battlefield of the Ruhrian Army. The Pacific Ocean will be the theatre of which the Fleets will either make peace, or end up obliterating one another. Hundreds of thousands would be dead, and this war shall go down in the history of the Pacific. Valient stories will be passed down, generation after generation. But it all had to start sometime.

-------------------------------------
The Mountains of New Ruhr
-------------------------------------

The Rogues Marines had primarily taken these mountains and used them as a basis of defence for New Ruhr’s northern cities. The powerful artillery units stationed here had a wide range at which they could fire. These artillery pieces had never been used. There had never been an attack on Ruhr directly aside from terrorists in Ruhrian Isles Colony. The Rogues Marine’s duty now was to scout out and find the mutinous military units, now believed to be heading north to intercept Oglethorpian paratroopers in Maletton. Colonel Denver had been running back in forth in his Land Cruiser all day, trying to find the other headquarters. After the Rebels took Lexicon, the Artillery commanders had moved their headquarters to some other hilltop. Now the Ropes Marines did not know where they were, and their planned counterattack on Lexicon had been delayed.

The 15th Ropes Marines were in Pointe Cape with the New Genoese combat forces, the troops had been relieved that there was a new power to help out. These Genoese had taken a beating, ultimately suffering from the Melkor Wars, which Ruhr had to pull out of. Their presence was expected but not as exciting as anticipated. They have done nothing as of yet but bicker between commanders and drink. The Ruhrians were not pleased that they could not do anything but waste time. The Light Armoured Vehicles of the 15th were now in a column heading into the Mountains’ southern bends. They would be staging an advance on Lexicon, which was now believed to house 35,000 troops. Colonel Denver now had a new force to deal with, he needed to find the mobile command of these vehicles before they went in without infantry support. Denver took a sharp turn as he chose not to follow the road. Denver was traveling with a major from the 15th. They both realized that time was shot. Denver took the vehicle off road as they climbed up the mountain using the 4.7 litre V8 of the Toyota. As they got near the summit, nearly 20 minutes later, they looked down to the southeast, where a trail of dust and sand was being kicked up.

“There they are, Colonel. Let me get a radio message to the 4th Ropes. We can support the attack, now!” The anxious major got out of the car and got on the VF Radio. “Gold Bar two to base, Gold Bar two to base. Transaction in progress near Sector Charlie Alpha Zulu 12 Foxtrot. Commence move to the fence, prepare zero zero hotel cobra run five.”

The military lingo was telling the Ropes Marines that they were to commence to their staging zone, and begin suppression tactics on the Lexicon units on patrol. 4,000 Ropes Marines had begun the move south, while seventy five KAI-40B “Super Fox” ICVs were moving to their harassment sector. The attack would commence in roughly two hours.

Denver and the Major had to get to their observation point before either side arrived. Major got in the Land Cruiser, and Denver drove down the hill. The first battle would take place.

We are called upon duty. To protect our fellow cormade from internal conflict.

Here's a simple word: we will not abandon our hope. The International Force will be victorious. Soon, yourselves will find death, and doom.

We'd suggest the rebel forces to give up immediately. In no way can they match the power of the Pro government forces, in terms of air power, land power, and naval power.

Message to Omzian and Adejaani Forces
------------------------------------------------------

We have a situation. An armoured unit, very large in size, is heading to take out Alvarezistani forces north of Twin Rivers. We cannot let them attack, unfortunately you are on the other side of the bridges. Your orders are to head over the South Connection Bridges and reinforce Alvarezistani units. Naval and Air Support will be minimal. The Ruhrian Imperial Navy is currently attempting meet the Arctic Attack Fleet. We do not know the full intentions of the fleet, but DIA is 90% sure that they are going to attempt a manuever to assist the rebels.

Keep civilian casaulties to a minimal, we do not know if every citizen is a rebel. It is estimated that the Rebels have well over 50,000 armed soldiers in Twin Rivers alone, and around heavy armoured Vehicles.

Take Adejaani Forces with your units.

Reply: Message to Omzian Forces

Very well, we are sure that we can do the job, and maybe also an ambush. We will take the AH-93Cs, F/A-22Cs, EA-160s, and A-14s with us to ensure maximum saftey, the F/A-22Cs should be able to estabilish air superiority. After our forces are in there, the Alvarezistani units should be safe, as the effectiveness of our unit is expected to be very effective, eevn when facing 50,000 soldiers. We will try our hardest, of course, to supress the enemy.

As for the Arctic Attack Fleet, we wish the Ruhrian Imperial Navy best luck. If situation is worsened, we may bring on shore anti-ship missile batteries, ground-based cruise missile launchers, and shore artillery pieces.

We are sure that the Adejaani units are informed.

Godspeed.

Thank you for the warning, we will take maximum percaution for our F/A-22s, A-14s, and EA-160s.

Any infomation on the range of this system? We may be able to strike these systems through our medium ranged anti-armor missiles. Or otherwise, we may even be tempted to launch cruise missiles at them using ground-based cruise missile launchers.

No worries, the Phalanx should miss a few, since our new cruise missiles has a low flight, "skimmering", characteristics.

But these SAMs will cause some danger. Mind if we direct a few B-2As near the location?

They will not get close, as we know that B-2A can get vulnverable to most long range SAMs when they release their weapons.

We will mostly likely deploy the AGM-210 Naginata, which has a low IR signature and RCS. The good thing about the missile is that, its range is 1400km, and a B-2A can carry 12.

Or, we could use the AGM-226 ACALCM, which boasts a range of 1600km, plus the fact that the B-2A can carry 8 of these.

The B-2As would be far out of range from the SAMs.

Day 2 of mission

I may have fought among some of these men and now i will have to kill them? Why? Because some politicians are pissed at each other.thought Trueshot. He was the group's sniper. He never told anybody of his real name nor where he got the nick-name. It was rumored that he got it because he disabled a tank from 500 metres away. His rifle was mounted with a thermal scope because this was a night mission. He looked to his left and saw the Tech weenie from CI-7, Frank Jesup. The only reason he was being brought along was that he could pick locks like others picked their teeth.

Damn this stuff is heavy thought Jesup. He carried the least weight of anybody but he still couldn't carry it. He looked forward to the heavy weapons guy, Lou Mai. how can he carry that much stuff?

I bet everybody is thinking of something interesting but me. thought Mai. He carried the B-ARC heavy infantry weapon. 5 times the rate of fire and clip size of the A-ARC and twice as heavy. Under the barrel where there was supposed to be a grenade launcher(which everyone else had) was an EIL(Experimental infantry laser). It was a new weapon that one shot could punch through 2 feet of solid steel. However it only could be fired 3 times. He looked back to the team leader, Donald Kao.

we're close. Let's stop for the night and review the mission he motioned to each member to assemble.

The Iceberg Melts
-------------------------

“Train the guns forty five degrees port. Load all tubes and prepare to engage. Target lock the carrier’s decks. I want the MLRS operational. MOVE PEOPLE!” Captain Reinhardt of the RNS Spear was frantically giving out orders. His Admiral von Wulfe had ordered the fleet’s battleships to begin the harassment attacks on the Pacific Fleet. The Spear was of the latest Lancer Class BBGN (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=75343&highlight=lancer+class+bbgn) design, and having only been operational for six months. Her clipper bow sleekly passed through the water, and Reinhardt had it heading on course one-seven-five.

The guns of the massive vessel, were all loaded with explosive impact shells, and were trained for the center of the task force to be harassed. The 7th Task Force of the Pacific Fleet was a Trade Security unit, with a single Munich Class VTOL nuclear carrier. Reinhardt was only waiting for the order to come in. “Any transmissions, O’Brien?”

“No, sir. We have air traffic coming in. Looks like Ruhrian Air Force is having all civilian traffic grounded for now.”

“They know what to expect then, we cannot wait any more. Weapons Control, does the MLRS have lock on that CVVN?”

”Yes sir, we have a lock on it. Bearing one-two-five on course zero-eight-seven at eighteen knots. Range 22,000 yards.” Responded the weapons control officer. “We have the Franklin on multiple locks with the Juliet-XVIII (Ship-to-Ship Missiles, faster and heavier than the Harpoon).”

“We have no word from the Admiral, then. Weapons, launch MLRS Unit 1.” The shipped reverberated as the rockets screamed into the sky. The white light the propellants made blinded Reinhardt, and smoke encompassed the ship.

“MLRS Unit 1 has fired, 36 rockets on a ballistic trajectory to Task Force Seven. ETA is four minutes.” The Weapons officer quieted as the Captain gave his next order.

”Fire Turret two: guns four through six, and Turret three: guns seven through nine.” Reinhardt braced himself as the six rail guns fired. The Spear suffered a recoil of twelve inches due to the massive amounts of energy spent in the shot. It would be a thirty seconds before the cannons can recharge, luckily that was the same amount of time the average gun crew had taken to load the cannon.

“Turrets two and three have fired. Awaiting orders, Captain.”

”Cease fire! Helm, turn to course two-one-two, flank speed! Hard to starboard!”

Gold Group – Arctic Attack Wing 3
-----------------------------------------------

Attack Wing 3, designated Gold Group, flew low against the water. The F/A-18 Super Hornets were given the task of knocking out an Omzian air wing heading to engage Military Forces trying to stabilize New Ruhr. The forty-four aircraft had been armed with interceptor weapons. “Miner 1 to Goldmine. We are now flying due north and have the Omzians support craft on radar. Permission to engage?”

”Goldmine Control to Miner, you are authorized to engage. Do not engage the bridge, guns only if any troops are crossing.”

“Roger that, Goldmine.” The pilot flipped the radio frequency. “Miners, authorized engagement. Unit one, engage support craft. Unit two, take out land vehicles and ships that are in the way. Guns only for the bridge, guys.”

One man was overheard on the radio, “Damnit!”

”Watch that language, miners! We are the pride of the fleet, now act like that!” The units broke off. Unit three, the commander’s unit, stayed on course. They had been given the primary objective to take out the bombers. The other units began engaging planes like the prowler and other spy/surveillance/jammer units.

Armoured Advance on Twin Rivers
----------------------------------------------

Second Platoon stationed themselves right on the hill overlooking the river. Miller, the platoon CO was rushing to check the other units before they engaged the Alvarezistan armoured forces. There were approximately 6,000 in total, and in Ruhrian clothing. It was tough to distinguish them from the rebels, but it didn’t quite matter. Miller hopped into his tank, “All units, engage.”

The 25 KAF-90Es opened fire on the units on the ridge. The Alvarezistan controlled ridge exploded in dust. Three more rounds from each tank poured into their targets as the 2nd Platoon began to roll from their hidden positions down the hill towards the Alvar ledge. They were vulnerable here, but in a minute they would be on the same ground as the Alvar units. “Take no prisoners! They will not feel compassion for us! Fight with valor, men!”

A tank next to Miller’s exploded. He looked through the viewport to see the track torn apart and the turret mangled. They must use powerful weaponry.

The Omzian tanks were on regular patrol, until it happened.

They identified them as Ruhrian tanks instead, but teh friendly fire situation is still weird.

The pilot, Captain Honjak R. Irakans-Orgin, kept his eye on the radar.

"Something's going on...", he looked at several unidentified objects.

Suddenly, he refreshed his mind. He activated the ECM jammar, and have the "targeting" button on his F/A-22 at hand.

He is waiting for the aircraft to identify the objects.

"Wingman, keep an eye on unidentified objects. Over."

The Sargant looked at 3 IFVs blowing up. "Damn it, the IFV blow up... War, war...", he muttered. Then, he radioed, while resisting the gunfire.

"All cleared to engage! Copter Units!"

Suddenly, 2 AH-93C Helicopters rushed towards the scene, firing 12 Hellstreak anti-armor missiles at the tanks engaging the Sargant's [damaged] tank. But one missile misfired, making an explosion near the Sargant's tank.

"Friengly fire! Friendly fire! The Sargant's tank is hit!", the commander of a second tank yelled into his Land Warrior communications box.

It becomes clear: The first battle for Omzian forces.

The helicopters continued to fire Hellstreak missiles and 30mm machine gun rounds at the tanks, with the frontline tanks firing Kornet-2 ATGMs at the other rebel tanks.

All the battle, surrounded the Sargant's tank that blew up.

"Comrade Zankarbon, rest in peace. You will get your revenge, friend...", another tank commander muttered, having tears in his eyes.

The missiles struck the ground and the area around it. Miller fired his heavy machinegun at one of them, concentrating on the fuesalage. One of the other tankers, Lt. Corren, had radioed in for anti-Air assistance. A minute later, two of the AD-110 SAM Units rolled in and began work on taking out the two helicopters.

The turret swiveled right as the gun fired at yet another IFV. Another missile crashed near the tank, this one's shrapnel hit Miller's arm. He screamed in agony, as the AD-110s fired.

His tank pushed on, they were close to the ridge now. The IFVs still formed a barrier they needed to breach. Miller was unconcerned on how many of his tanks had been taken out. He was more concerned about liberating the Rebels and stopping the foreigners from harassing Ruhrians. The gun fired again at a different target.
Omz222
13-10-2003, 01:43
The AD-110 units were definately not helping, as one copter was struck. It fell to a bush, but the crew survived with injuries --- as the AH-93C is very crash-resistant. The other copter fled away low on the ground, trying to aviod the fire.

A medical IFV rushed towards the scene, while 4 of the Omzian tanks surrounded Miller's tank, firing ETC Cannon rounds and rest of their Kornet 2 ATGMs. Still, 2 IFV and 2 tanks are struck, leaving wreckage behind.

Another batch of 2 tanks concentrated their fire on the AD-110, firing maching gun rounds at the targeting system.

The commanders of the tanks realized that --- the rebels are not as easy to fight.
Ruhr
13-10-2003, 01:49
One of the AD-110s was taken out with little difficulty. The Omzians had concentrated fire on the targeting system, but it was very likely they missed and hit the fuel tank or something else exposive. The unit was destroyed. The other one backed up the hill, trying to get one more launch at the other helicopter.

Miller looked to his left, the left flank had fallen behind. "Will, take us left. We need to provide cover." He switched frequencies. "All units, Echelon B! Form up!" The Echelon B was basically one side flanking at the same rate heading forward, there was a diagonal force, connecting the other units which fell behind. The 'B' meant that the strong side was the right attackers. The A had been the slower units on the right. Miller was now providing cover for the A side. More rounds were fired, and the Kornets continually fired.
Omz222
13-10-2003, 01:53
The gunners of the tanks noticed that they hit the fuel tank, and made the unit explode, so they continued to fire machine gun rounds at the fuel tank. But before they can react --- the second helicopter is down, causing a fire and killing all crews inside. The rockets are also ignited, causing a huge explosion.

Many Kornets, however were fooled by the ARENA system on the Omzian KAF-90Es, but still, 7 IFVs and 3 tanks are struck. The tanks continued to fire Kornet 2 missiles, and ETC rounds at the tanks "with the most potental". The IFVs are also helping, firing 30mm Bushmaster cannons and TOW-2 missiles at the Ruhrian rebel tanks.

"More air units! Go, go, go!"

3 A-14 Warthog II "tank killers" are on the way, along with 2 AH-93Cs.

Akito's units had a few pilots ready. Hearing the battle, they got into their units and flew towards the arena of combat. It has been a grueling thirty minutes, and several of the tanks had been destroyed. The pilots were flying F-15XL Super Eagles, and flew low to the ground.

Aircraft On Radar

The radar blinked as new aircraft were identified. The Omzian forces air units were now the primary target. Their ETA to firing distance was two minutes. The pilots hit their afterburners. Two helicopters appeared on radar, "93C's everybody. Charlie, Roger...take them. Everyone else, continue on the other planes."

They launched two sidewinders at each unit.
Omz222
13-10-2003, 02:03
The sidewinders all struck the AH-93Cs, and 1 A-14s. The other A-14, immediately fired their flares, and fired ATAS (Air-to-air Stinger) missiles at the planes, but with little success

"Command Post, the forces are using F-15XLs!", one pilot yell in this tense situation.

***********

All the planes, which are fully loaded with munitions, fell, and caused another huge explosion.
Ruhr
13-10-2003, 02:14
The pilots easily evaded the missiles. The leader of the small unit grinned as he fired his chaff. They flew over the battlefield, firing on the Omzian and Alvarezistan forces, whom were now falling back.

--------------

The Rebels in Twin Rivers had rallied and were now driving up the mountainside in their trucks. Their weaponry consisted of stolen M-16 varients, light machine guns, and a few heavy machineguns which were mounted to the roofs of the trucks. They stormed up the hills trying to take out all the infantry forces they could.

Akito and his leaders watched from a window down in the City. They were so close to showing the world what they were underestimating.

---------------

Miller drove through the IFV wreckage. His KAF rammed a temporary shelter for infantry and crushed it. They pushed on. Miller was bleeding from the arm, it dripped down the side of the tank. He looked around, as resistance lightened. The MBTs were also fewer in numbers. He made a quick count, 16 were still running fully, two damaged mediumly and lagging behind, and one still funcional but with no track. The rest were taken out completely. His force was dwindling. Where are you third platoon?

----------------

The MLRS units of the armoured push had their targets locked from the scout units sent ahead. The ten units sat peacefully until they began to train to the south. Their guns raised more as they prepared an assault. Artillery bursts were heard, and then the ground trembled from the DCIMP Rockers launching.

Receiving the command, 4 EA-160s in air-to-air combat configurations begins to take off to the probable location of the F-15XLs. The EA-160s are armed with 2 AIM-201 Scorpion short-range air-to-air missiles and 8 AIM-152 ALRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles each.

They know that these missiles' seekers are much better than the ones on the AIM-9 and 120.

===============================

"Incoming fire! Incoming fire!", the Omzian infantry yelled at the hill, already with a few shot dead.

Aggresivelly, the Armament HMMWVs begin to fire 40mm grenades from their Mk.19 automatic grenade launcher, with other infantrys storming from the IFVs, firing heavy machien guns and assualt rifle rounds at the rebels.

===============================

The Omzian tanks, still about 20 left, and 4 damaged ones. They, aggresivelly, continued to fire ETC cannon rounds and anti-armor machine gun rounds, as they ran out of Kornet 2s.

===============================

The guns did much damage on the tanks. 5 were damaged, with 3 IFVs damaged. The tanks, still fighting aggresivlly, called on the Omzian and artillery units.

"They are appearing to fire rockets and shells! Get our Crusaders down here!"

OOC: Now Omz, you are just pulling weapons out of your ass.

IC:

The Planes soared over the battlefield, firing their vulcan cannons at the tanks. It was not a lot, but they did not have the weapons needed to attack the tanks.

------------------

MRLS units fired once more. Miller saw the first few rockets crash in their lines. Miller was fading into darkness, his tank marched through the lines. The KAF-90Es had proven well, thusfar. And the 3rd Platoon would be reinforcing Miller's forces soon. His tank was out of Kornets. He continued to fire his machinegun as the rest of his tank crew operated the KAF.

The wound was draining his blood. He sat down in his chair as the tank bounced up from an artillery hole. The units kept pushing.

-------------------

Ryan sat in the back of the Toyota Tundra. He looked to the left, and one of the other pickups flipped over and exploded. He heard the screams of the men. To the right, another truck sped up and fired on the Omzian supporters. They were no match for the regular trained soldiers.

Ryan stood up behind the rolll bar and put his M16 on three-burst mode. He picked out unprotected soldiers at the top of the hill. He fired sporadically. The moral of the rebels was fading away as their forces broke like water on rock. The gunner manning the heavy machinegun fell to a bullet.

He rose his weapon and yelled. His brothers in arms heard the call and rallied, once more. He shouted, "For our comrades!" Manning the heavy machinegun, he continued to fire at the omzian units. It was clear now that the unorganized attack would fail. Their only purpose here was to fight for Ruhr. They could not retreat. They fought on.

Another man yelled, "For Ruhr!" One of the Omzian HMMWVVs was destroyed. The men cheered. They saw the finish line as they neared the summit. More bullets fell onto the units. A man to Ryan's left took one in his shoulder, and collapsed in the back. He stood up and took his weapon with his left hand and fired at what he could. He yelled in pain and anguish, "For a New Ruhr!"

They fought on. And Ryan's vehicle fell as bullets sprayed the gas tank.

OOC: Sorry, just got a bit too excited :P

The MLRS truly made a difficult task for the remaining Omzian KAFs, as 10 tanks were destroyed by the intensive fire. The unit know that the other 28 tanks would come to itheir aid soon.

It was a tied battle.

====================

The Omzian soldiers, some with their morale high, but some even inclined to the rebels, fought on.

====================

Honjak Irankas, a ordinary Omzian soldiers, saw it all: how his comrades were shot, how the HMMWV blew up. He has reviewed all. It is time for a sacrifice for his leaders, and the Ruhrian people.

He stepped towards the enemy lines.

"For Omzian Democratic Republic!", he yelled, and threw a grenade at Ryan, just before he got himself shot.

"For Omzi...", he passed away on this foreign battlefield.

He pointed to a spot on the east edge of the fence.

"Mai will fire a laser burst into the fence destroying it and then open fire indiscrimanantly into any soldiers who show up. True shot will start picking officers one by one. When the shooting starts the insertion team will enter the base and break into the three nearest buildings. Mare will plant charges and then we will exit the base and join True shot and Mai. Then we will head to the clearing over there”
He pointed to his left
“The helo will pick up. When we are in it Mare will detonate the charges. There is a zodiac in the helo. We will prepare it and when we are over the ocean we and the pilot will jump out of it. Nuremburg, Ruhr

The pilots of the MBT-1s were getting bored. They didn't have the strict training of the SOET, and were really waiting for something to do. One decided to patrol a bit, leaving foot prints in the pavement.

The SOET had spread in groups to protect Nuremburg. They had bunkered in on hills around the city with all the weapons and ammo that they needed and could retreat quickly with.

The HQ vehicle at the airport was dealing with all incoming and outgoing radio traffic. The request to ready more troops if needed was sent out, just in case reinforcements were needed.

Blokan, Sigma Octavus

The transports were ready to go, and the SOMI (Sigma Octavus Mobile Infantry) were lounging around the airfield, waiting for the orders to move out.

The Alvarezistan armored force on the ridge begins taking fire, knocking out several APCs and Grozny II class light tanks, of which there were about 40.. now, perhaps, 30 in total. Alvarezistani forces return fire in earnest, the well-armed Revolutionary Guard infantry targeting the tanks as they advance with mortars, recoiless rifles and shoulder-fired armor piercing RPG-20s. These are essentially upgrades of the classic RPG-7, but with upgraded optical sights and limited heat-homing capability. The Grozny II's also boast a nasty surprise; their 90mm guns are capable of firing anti-tank heat seeking missiles.

Still, this in itself is not enough to repel the rebel advance. The units put up a bloody fight and throw up heavy counterfire, but eventually are forced to pull back to safety. The troops desperatly call for backup from Omzian forces, and from the carrier Red Hammer on New Ruhr's west coast. The carrier sends in a series of airstrikes by three squadrons of A-10s, escorted by an equal quantity of Su-37s, in an effort to put a dent in the rebel armored force and halt the advance. The Revolutionary Guardsmen had taken moderate casualties, but at the moment were still in the fight.

By no means will I leave Ruhr to seek safety. The fate of the Pacific lies in the upcoming battles, I shall not hide in your country to possibly meet death. The cabinet stays in Ruhr, do not be so quick to decide whether or not the Ruhrians can take this turbulent era.

-Victor R. Firestorm-

-------------------------------
Battle of Twin Rivers
-------------------------------

The Alvars were now beginning their counterstrike. The fight had been bloody thusfar. 3rd Platoon had been held in reserve for too long and was now enroute to hit from behind. Miller died from a shrapnel blast to the front of his KAF-90E. A Alvarezistan Grozny II units had given the Ruhrian armour a shock. The KAI-40I "Super Fox" ETCs were now securing the eastern bridge. The Rebels had put up a glorious battle for control of the bridge. Loyalists fought bravely to keep their side open, but the Motorized Troops were too well trained and armed to be held back.

The Air-Search Radars on the AD-110s were now picking up the three flights of A-10s. Fearing they would be engaged, several had picked targets and begun firing. The fight would continue.

---------------------------------------------------------
Sarex, Ruhr - 75 miles North of Nuremburg
---------------------------------------------------------

Three Infantry divisions piled into their 2 1/2 ton tanks to roll south. They were given their orders directly from General Jerry Fonda. The units had wavered in loyalty for the Chancellor. The men and women bickered between each other what to do upon arrival.

Nuremburg was essential to holding Ruhr, if Firestorm lost Nuremburg, it would be the end of the revolution. It would also be, quite possibly, the end of NATO and the Pacific. They had to fight for it. The generals realised this, but the unit commanders had their own plans. 28,000 men drove south to Nuremburg.

--------------------
Rhine City
--------------------

Kevin looked out the window of his apartment. The glorious tri rivers met and swept north to the Pacific, one of the the few northern flowing rivers of the world. Kevin's 5th story apartment overlooked the three river's intersection. It was certainly a nice view, with the ice topped and forrested mountains of middle Ruhr coming to an end around the city. It was pituresque. Taking a look at the western river, he saw the clipper bow of an older Arleigh Burke destroyer. It came closer and closer to the intersection of the rivers. Three more Ruhrian Class Corvettes rolled in behind it, with a Lightning Class Gunboat trailing.

"What the hell?" He asked himself. The Ruhrian Class Corvettes were no longer in use by the navy, neither was the Arleigh Burke class! Why hadn't these ships been scrapped? The Reserve fleet received the lightning class! Was this a reserve section of the fleet?

The turret on the DDG-51 class vessel trained to the north, towards his section of the large city. The other vessels also did so. A missile from the Corvette flew from its casing and hit a freighter to the south of his apartment. "Jesus H. Cobblestone!" He ran to his phone, dialing his friends. "We got a problem here! The reserves are shooting at the city!"

The military revolution had spread west, now it was in the heart of Ruhr.

OOC: Just a little note for you all...this is essentially a description of Nevada City.

It is really a lot like Miami....there. Canals near the channel, a bunch of rich folk live near sky scrapers on the beach. Big clubbing area, very youthful. The Factories are on the eastern side of town with a train connection to the port and running throughout Ruhr connecting most of the industrial sectors.

Nuremburg: Population: 12.75 Million (Big City)

Take Sydney Australia, and give it a German hint to it. Make the some of the streets concrete, a few near the center of the city brick, and a bunch near the channel just normal tar. As for the city itself, there is a lot of vegetation, and most people in the city live in middle-to-high class homes. The average income of the locals increases as you move closer to bodies of water. It is a really modern city, and very clean. Not a big industrial sector, but on the far out portions of the city, there are some factories and shipbuilding sectors. More of a retail center.

Twin Rivers: A jungle city. Like what you would expect from a major South American sector...but Ruhrian. The populace typically is working class to middle class, and there ain't a lot to do. Ridges and hills to the north of the rivers, and they overlook the city.

More bullets sprayed the area. He peaked his head out to see where the bullets were flying from. He took out his binoculars and hid behind a trashcan. He searched the distance, and saw the barrel of a long rifle and a few bullet casings. A bullet fired, and he acknowledge that was who was attacking. Hashman yawned as he awoke.

"Battle reports?" he asked his assistant as he dressed himself.

His assistant cleared his throat and spoke, "Bloody battle at New Ruhr. Large air battle raging over the Ruhrian Channel. Nasty naval battle also."

"Interesting. Let's move. Contact the boys to rock 'n roll. I want to meet the Ruhrian commander of Lepizig... then we'll ambush him and his party. We take the city for the rebels. They'll never expect it."

"I've already contacted the Ruhrian Command, we await their response."

"Excellent."

Colonel Walker loaded his M16A4 as he hollered orders to over 2,800 men who had pledged their loyalty to usurp the unloyal General Hashman. Lieutenant Gary Coleman headed up the second loyalist contingenment of 1,600.

They were planning on contacting the Ruhrian commander, however, without proper transmission codes and other requirements, they were unable to locate him. Loyalist Ruhrians seemed to disregard their outcries of the upcoming ambush.

"Alright," spoke Walker, who was drenched in sweat. "What are Hashman's plans now?"

"Reports are flooding in, he seems to be prone to attack in two hours. I said we were ready to rock."

"Good job, Hawkey. Alright boys, now is our time. We've been unable to convince anyone of this ambush. We're on our own to stop Mr. Hashman. We flank the ambush force in two hours. For New Genoa!"

A loud roar of cheers erupted soon after. Lt. Gary Coleman gave a similar speech, with a similar response, although an unexpected guest had attended his lecture.

"Jesus Christ," mumbled Private Jacobs, a standard Army Regular who was supporting Hashman. He backed away slowly to inform his superiors...

"Hammer" got the news in the afternoon that there was an air battle going on over Southern New Ruhr. Getting up from the hammock his boys had put up, he walked over to the local Ruhrian commander to get some more info on what was happening.

Satisfied that he was pretty much up to speed, he called his men over from their volleyball game. He smirked a little, knowing that Miller's team was glad to stop the pain getting smacked on them but that they'd never say so.

"Alright ladies, listen up now. The air scruffs have started, and we've been given permission by our Ruhrian compatriots to go a' huntin'. Fights happening over South New Ruhr. The Battle for Lexicon
------------------------------

Seni sat wearily in his M1A2, the shelling has been going on for more than an hour. Infantry Fighting Vehicles had been working on retaking Lexicon by shelling its northern defences and riding down the hills to wipe them out. This is suicide! Why don’t they know that M1A2s can withstand the rounds they use? Ahh…their time will come when they reach the hill. Then they are rolling ducks…

They couldn’t tell where the fire was coming from. The mountain tops had hid them too well, and now marine mortar crews had set up firing platforms to the north-west. Seni did not like what was going on. It was not a good day, the night sky had been lit up by the jet engines of the F-111s that constantly searched for the armoured units in the mountains. Every now and then, Seni looked out his view port to see the explosions on the mountain summits. He felt safer every time.

The night grew darker, the artillery concentrated on the heavier tanks. Seni frequently turned on his night vision goggles to check the area. He did a quick check of the perimeter, and saw a faint green glow near the hilltop. It dawned on him, “they are coming.”

Turning on his heat-vision system, he saw a large infiltrating group heading towards his tank. He popped the roof and manned his gun, while turning on the searchlight. Then the artillery hit.

Bam

The tank’s turret was blown to pieces, a lucky shot really. The projectile went right through Seni and into the turret via the hatch. It penetrated a bulkhead and hit the tank’s ammo, which then exploded the fuel and sent the tank into the air. It flipped and landed on its topside, and crushed any hopes of escaping the raging fires. The infantry opened fire, and the artillery homed on the other tanks, hoping to get a lucky shot like the one that destroyed Seni’s tank.

The fighting was brutal, HMMWVS poured down the western mountainside and started raiding attacks on the gates. The tanks opened fire on what they could, but it was simply another fatal tactic used by the desperate Ruhrian loyalists. With ease, four of the vehicles were blown apart on their initial decent. The artillery poured over the base defences.

--------------------------
Attack on Maletton
--------------------------

Maletton was an important sector for Nevada City’s defence. While a small city, it separated the rebels from the loyalists by means of the Oglethorpian paratroopers. The 5,000 soldiers sent to keep the peace were now on front-line duty, waiting for the Ruhrian Armoured units to show up. The paratroopers were outgunned, however. One hundred M1A2 Abrams Heavies made their way northwest with 25 KAF-90E ETCs. It was only a matter of time until the Oglethorpians were overrun.

Pacific Battle – 10*N 168*W
-------------------------------------

Admiral von Wulfe sat in her commanders chair of the Hamburg class super-carrier, the RNS Gallery. The massive vessel cruised through the sea as the F/A-18 Super Hornets launched constantly from the four catapults of the ship. She knew that Rickerridge in the RNS Hamburg was doing the same thing. This would be a bloody battle, but Rickerridge was a battleship commodore filling in for a carrier group admiral.

Wulfe felt that she had the upper hand, having years of Carrier Battlegroup experience. Her fleet was outnumbered though, but the direct battle between the two main bodies would be fairly equal. She already had her battleships harassing the smaller task forces and taking out the radar grid for Ruhr. Most believed that battleships were outdated, but the power of the rail gun could easily be used as a sheer demoralizer for soldiers all around.

The two fleets headed straight for each other, each 300 km apart, moving at 22 knots roughly. The Air Wings would be reaching each other now, and the carrier battle would start any minute. Wulfe was worried that the Pacific Fleet would have the advantage, but heard the reports of the air battle taking Ruhr. She knew that land based help would be very low, and that she had to show her fleet’s capabilities.

”Prepare the missile units for an attack, authorization Theta Zulu Omega – Wulfe. Transmit to Fleet Ships. Send an ELF message to the SSN units authorizing unrestricted submarine warfare. Let us see if Rickerridge could deal with some subs all around his forces.”

”Orders sent, Admiral. The RNS Bryan DDGN is preparing to begin close range combat.”

”Authorize. Break the fleet up, have the CVVNs launch their fighters. I want ASW forces running round the clock!” The night sky made naval battles particularly eerie. Knowing a submarine can sneak up on you without even seeing it through the clear pacific water of Ruhr’s east coast was frightening. This would be a long battle.

In response to Celack's post:

There are 30 HMMWVs in total. 11 of them have machineguns, 4 of them have TOW missile carriers. The rest are supply runners or troop carriers, and, and All of them have low fuel. There are fuel canisters in the back of the garage though.

Commanding Officer Guy McLellan amidst with the 5,000 paratroopers of the 23rd Airborne Division. Intelligence had picked up a movement of M1A2 Abrams towards the 23rd Airborne's position outside Maletton.

Of 5,000 paratroopers, only 500 of them were equipped with Hk-23 machine gun; complete absense of anti-air and mortar units.

God damn, Commanding Officer McLellan thought to himself.

He didn't know how long till the rebel force of M1A2s arrived. Or how big it was.

The men were as prepared as they could be, with the short amount of time they had till expected arrival of the motorized division heading towards them. The front line was dug in a couple of feed into the ground, though that was the only trench in the position outside Malleton.

Only a matter of time, he thought.

"Head left one-niner-five. We've got plenty of bandits up here, which group do you want?" replied the AWACS controll officer.

Hammer: "Start with the nearest flight."

AWACS: "Roger. Flight of six bandits at your four o'clock, angels 10 down, 50 kilo's out, going right to left at two hundred. I'll vector you in. You are weapons-free."

Hammer: "Copy weapons-free."

The Super Hornets banked left, and climbed to get on top of their prey. They didn't have their radars on, so as to not give away that they were coming to the fight.

Once Hammer's flight had gotten to within 25 kilometers, Hammer and the rest of 1st Patrol brought up their weapons display's and selected AIM-120's for this first volley. He waited for the tone, which blared away loud and strong in his ear.

"Fox-two, fox-two, -120's away!" And with that, 8 missiles streaked toward their targets unannounced.

Marco drove over the terrain and through the forrest. Trees fell as the KAF-90E reinforcements rushed to aid the Oglethorpian paratroopers. It was only a matter of time before they would be clobbled with the M1A2s. Marco's company was only 40 strong, but there was an empty Motor Rifle division moving behind them to back up the Oglethorpians incase a retreat was necessary.

The 1st Company of 3rd Battalion of the 11th Armoured Divsion had plowed through the forest trying to get there in time. There was a clear and Marco's Super Fox Command Vehicle pushed through the last of the jungle to come to a complete stop. He got out and looked down a rolling hill to see Maletton, where the Jungle savannah forests near the channel met the desert climate of central New Ruhr and the lush forests of the mountains. It was a strange town, having three climtes mix together. Yet, it was a tourist attraction. There was a line of civillians in cars rushing up both sides of the highway to get to Nevada City, and media vehicles were blocked from heading south. It was not long before the rebels hit. Marco got back in his unit as the rest of the company poured out of the green and down the hill. They didn't have long.
