Countess Lafiël Seeks A Husband
Cyberutopia

As the Elves of Cyberutopia have existed among us longer, they have further integrated themselves and their culture into Cyberutopia. As of late, they have formed their own heirarchy. One of the Cyberutopian Elven Countesses has recently expressed a desire to find a husband. Internal matches have failed, and she has put out an international invite to any suitors interested to attend a formal party.

In my country there are several guys, like the King's nine sons, seventeen nephews, and one of the kings cousins may be young enough. The King is married to an Eleanor of Aquitaine.

Airjet, f--k off. Anyway...
The party will commence in 3 and 1/2 hours. Make your way to the Elven district (it is very easy to locate, the elves have decided to create their own district, you will notic a significant change in archtecture) and ask a nearby passerby for directions (they all know about it, it's a big thing) or follow the signs to the Ahb mansion, where the party will take place.

3 hours later, the one and only Centropolis' prototype airship lands in Cyberutopia. A large limousine with a lot of men in black suits attending makes its way towards the elven district.

Blood line, His father High Lord Rushe Lee was human. His mother on the other hand was a High Elf.
Hobbies Flying any aircraft from WWII props to the Raven space fight, training in Judo and Boxing, and he furiously studies military history and tactics (and ancient history) wich he likes to use when he had seen combat. "Looks like we got here first, Sire."
"Heh, yeah."

"Bah, screw my brother. Let's go find the countess. You got the presents I told you to get?"
"Of course, Sire."
"Okay, let's go... I read up on the country on the way here, but it didn't say much. The invitation didn't say much either. What have you told her, Pirmin?"
"Uh, nothing Sire. I assumed you wanted to meet her in person rather than me telling stories.."
"Hm. Sometimes you have good ideas, Primin. Not often, but it happens. I suppose that's why I haven't sacked you yet."
"Sire!"
"Heh heh heh, what's the matter, can't take a joke? Okay, are we there yet? This is the elven area.."

Parthenon: The suitor would come to the Ahb mansion for the party, and the Countess and her fiance would decide together if they wanted to live in Cyberutopia, or the suitor's country, or a totally different country.
Western Might: Please, send the crown prince.
Sakkra: Well, do you want to attend?
Phalanix: An attractive elven mistress steps out of the front double doors at the sound of the Warthog. Noticing he must be here for the party, she steps foward to his LRV.
"Hello, sir, I assume you are here for the party. You can go through these large doors here, and take a left, a left, and go straight ahead. I will dispatch an elfservant to park your vehicle." The maid says, motioning toward the grand intricately carved doors.
Personal Message to Emperor Roland from the Countess: It appears you are already well into your search. I will not interrupt your choice. I wish you good luck in your search for love. :)

"Sir! please wait for your guards..."
But Cyrus had already left the Concordia 2000 limousine. Pirmin jogged after in an attempt to keep up with the Duke, causing his rather obese figure to wobble.
The Duke reached the mansion first. Pirmin began to recite the regalia while panting loudly after the short but quick sprint.
"His Royal Highness.. pant, pant, the Grand Duke, Cyrus the first.. pant, pant.. is here."
Pirmin collapsed into a heap of panting flesh on the great stairs to the mansion.

Hahahaha, that's good. You'll all see the story behind it all, when this gets off the ground. And someone interests the Countess enough, of course.
[Oh no prob, yw]
"Heh. Just imagine to watch them both on the dancefloor", Cyrus said to the cute maid without bothering to lower his voice. He laughed heartily at his own joke and smiled at her as she lead them further into the mansion.
"I suppose we're all rounded up like cattle before we get to see the mistress, or..?"
Cyrus stopped and turned back to his official and friend before the maid could answer.
"Pirmin! You better have the presents with you, hurry up a little. Oh nevermind, I see the guards brought it."
Turning back to the maid, he looked around with some interest while they continued to walk.

Giggling further, the maid answers Cyrus' question. "Well, if you want to put it that way, yes. It is an elven custom, and I have heard that formal human circles also practice that custom, though I understand it is quite an old one. It is with us too, but the Countess has expressed her distaste with this practice and...oh, exusce me, I must certainly be talking to much."
She then goes on more timidly, realizing her mistake, "Oh, your country does not have elves? Well, yes, most are very appreciative of our architecture. I hope you will be, as well."
The group of guards and Cyrus are lead through a number of meandering hallways and chambers, the "scenic route". Finally, they arrive at a large, pristine ivory-colored banqueting hall.
"Here we are. Enjoy your stay, sir." The young elven girl pronounces with a curtsey and turns away, to lead more guests to the hall.
"yeah it is", muttered Cyrus under his breath. It was true, the building was magnificent. Much more.. sleek and gracious than his own pompous ducal palace. Somehow it gave him an unearthly feeling while he waited.
"Lots of plants in here.. let's check out the competition..", he muttered to Pirmin, who had finally caught up with him as they weren't walking any further.

OOC: Sleep beckons, but I'll be on in the morning. See you all then!
Seeing that no other suitor had arrived yet (thanks to that damned airship of his brother's, thought Cyrus) he looked around. The building was impressive, yes, but that was not what was on his mind. Finally his searching eyes rested on a tall, striking elven lady in a sleek white-bluish dress, looking almost like falling water over her body, with jewelry that looked like silver-filigree of astonishing workmanship.
"Pardon me, m'lady. I'm Duke Cyrus. I take it from your clothes that you are a guest in this house? Yes? Ah, good. If it wouldn't be too forward, I thought maybe you could tell me a little while we're waiting.. about the elves here, yourself, this mansion, and of course, the countess, assuming you know her?"
[g'night, I'll be off myself soon]
Emperor Gorrm receives the reply to his communique to Cyberutopia. Attend anyway? Should I? The affairs of state are not terribly pressing right now, and my Ministers have done a good job before I ascended the throne....Very well. I could use a small vacation anyway.
"Advisor Bosska, please enter my chambers." A short time later, the solemn figure of the head of the Sakkran Diplomatic Corps, and the Emperor's Ear, arrives. "Yes, my liege?"
A dismissive wave of a clawed hand. "Oh don't give me any of that 'My Liege' stuff. You have taught me the fine-points of diplomacy since I was a neonate. Now drop the ceremony and be at ease."
"Certainly." Bosska sits in a chair and draws a hot goblet of Paroo. "What's on your mind Gorrm?"
"I am taking a short leave to continue my studies of the habits and customs of the mammals. This will take me to Cyberutopia this time, to see their courtship rituals. I require my personal Sweeper Drone to be readied, and my bags packed. Until I return, I leave you and the Diplomatic Corps in charge of the affairs of state. My hatch-mate Thress will accompany me as guard. Do you have any questions, or requests?"
"Only one. That you take a holo-corder with you. This information could prove useful to the Corps, and an opportunity as this should not be wasted. I'll have everything in readiness within the hour. By your leave?"
Gorrm nods his assent, and prepares himself.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Just so you know, the average Sakkran stands at about 7'4" and weighs in at 350 lbs. Gorrm is 7'8", 400 lbs. The earliest of his lineage were fishers and architects. His great-great-great forebear was the legendary Gorrm, of his namesake, who was a border patrolman that rose in the military ranks to become Warlord General. A civil war erupted, and the Warlord General gathered his men in defense of the present Emperor. The war was long and vicious, but victory was attained at last. Unfortunately, the Emperor was slain, and had no heirs. The people proclaimed the Warlord General as the best choice to lead the Empire. And the family line has been on the throne since.

We await the arrival of Gorrm eagerly (don't think your the only one interested in observing, there are a few elves who have wanted to see a Sakkran for some time now.:D)
The blue-white clad elf looked Cyrus once over and gave him a smile. "Well, welcome, Duke Cyrus. Yes, I would be glad to tell you some of our history. The ancestors of the elves you see here today came here from a time of intense racism against elves. Cyberutopia was and always is open to all refugees, and they took the elves in. After many years, the elves established themselves, and eventually, their own heirarchy. This family, the Ahb family, itself is rather young. They are some of the most radical elves, by our standards. They fully accept humans and half-elves as their equals, and are doing away with many of our oldest court traditions. The newest addition to the Ahb family, the reason you're here, is even more radical. She has been known to conduct parties such as this in a totally causal manner. However, many of the older, more traditional elf families are irritated by this. They feel we should embrace our past, instead of the future. The Countess says they are trapped in an obsolete time. As for knowing the Countess personally, I apologize, but I do not. I suppose one of her personal maids would know her well. History aside, it's great to have you here, Duke. Enjoy your stay, I know I will."

A special car had been sent to the landing zone of the Emperor Gorrm. A tall majestic looking elf stepped out.
"After you, sirs." He said, motioning for them to enter the car.
Thress expands her dewlap a bit, showing purple. "It is sirrah in my case." They enter the vehicle and proceed to their destination.
Cyrus thanked the tall elf for her forthcoming, and decided he could just watch for a while. It didn't take very long for other guests to begin to arrive, most likely because the part was about to start..
"Well.. aren't there some interesting people here."
"Sire, perhaps it would be a good idea to find a maid like the elf lady said. We should also promote what you have to offer, if you are really serious about this. Centropolis is the envy of the world, and you are quite a catch, if I may say so, Sire."
Drand Duke Cyrus I looked a a bit melancholic and didn't answer his friend at once.
"I don't know, Pirmin. I've only seen the Countess picture and the brief introduction that came with the invitation. But when I looked at her picture, I felt something that.."
"Yes, your highness?"
"Nevermind. Go find one of the maids", the Duke cut off rather sharply.
It was an easy task. The maids were easy to distinguish from the guests, and they were very helpful as well. Pirmin soon came back with some hors'deuvres and a maid.
"Can I help you?", she asked.
"I hope so. I'd like to know a little about the Countess. I don't know much about elves, and I had precious little time to select any presents before coming here. I know there's three timeless things you can give a lady, though. Flowers, candy and jewels.
Now, like I said I don't know much about elves, but I'd figure that picked and uprooted flowers might not be the best choice. Then there's snack.."
Cyrus cut off for a moment, giving Pirmin a sharp glance. His friend had already finished off the snack he had picked up in record time, and was now licking his fingers.
"I'd wager that chocolate wouldn't be a problem for an elf, especially one with the countess' figure, but you never know. It's popular with many a lady, but in the end, I decided to put the safe before the risk. So I went with jewelry. But, elves are supposed to be the best in the world at such handicraft, so I'm a little stumped here.. maybe you can help me out a bit?"

The maid thought for a bit.
"Hmm...well, I believe that the description said she also enjoys ancient artifacts and astronomy, but you can't really make gifts of those. She really likes flowers, if you have any of those, but it doesn't appear so. It doesn't really matter what gifts you give her, the Countess, unlike most other nobles, as I'm sure you've heard, is a bit radical. Other nobles are easily inlfuenced by gifts and such, but the Countess takes it as a sign of weakness, as if you are trying to cover up for something. As for jewlelry, she would take it, and perhaps wear it, as a sign of kindness. But your guess is right, elven jewlery is superior." She said, flashing a smile.
OOC: I'll continue the converstion later. Off to school.
As the Emperor and Thress exit their vehicle, Gorrm takes a moment to thank the driver, handing him a platinum chit. Thress is taking in the building, looking for places snipers and other assassins can hide.
"Oh, come now. You don't have to always be 'on the job'. Take a moment to relax and breathe in the air. It is a bit drier and crisper than the Black Swamp, but pleasant nonetheless." Gorrm ascends the stairs and enters the building, with Thress 1 step behind harrumphing all the way.

"Okay, thanks. I think I've got an idea now.."
Cryus smiled mischeviously, as if he had come up with something different and not entirely proper.
"Sire, what are you thinking?", asked Primin concerned.
"None of your business, Primin, but I think I've got a great idea.. if I only get to talk to her on a one-on-one.. don't worry, I don't think it'll efffct foreign politics badly", said Cyrus and smiled again, almost devilishly.
Primin knew that smile. It usually meant Cyrus had come up with something that would piss off his brother.
"Holy crap, look at that guy.."
Primin looked.
"Oh that should be Emperor Gorrm."
"Like I said, there's some interesting people around here.. maybe I'll talk to him later, just for the fun of it.."
Duke Cyrus looked at the maid again.

The maid continued. "You're welcome, sir. No, other than a few minor parties by some other families, no other major events are happening today. Oh, the last guest has arrived! I must go now. Nice talking to you, sir."
The maid walked quickly up a large nearby flight of stairs.
In the Countess' chambers...
Countess Lafiël sighed and relaxed further into the warm water. She ducked her head under, and raised herself from the bath. Her maids had told her all the guests were here. They were not great in number, but high in quality, just the way the Countess liked it. Too bad she would have to put up with the other elves who had been courting her for so long, as well. She sighed again, and walked to her wardrobe. She fingered the various fine clothes, and one caught her eye. A blood red short sleeved gown of pure silver intwined with silk. It shimmered like a galaxy of stars when it moved. Lafiël donned the gown and stepped out of her room. She breathed in the warm fresh air provided by the hall's airy structure and may open windows. She smoothed her dress one last time and began to decend the stairs, looking out upon her suitors and guests. The usual crowd of elves who had been after her hand in marriage for a while now, a group of humans who didn't seem too daunted by the competitive spirit of the elves, and a towering reptillian beast that one could see significant grace and handsomeness through his fearsome looks. The countess smiled softly, and was followed by her advisor (basically someone who knows everyone there) and a few maids. She greeted some of the elves, and then came upon the Prince Cyrus. She presented her hand, and smiled
"Hello, Prince Cyrus. It is a pleasure to have you here. I look foward to getting to know you much better." Then she added in a whisper and a tiny sigh, "I'm sorry for the sterility of my greetings. I am very interested in having humans here, but my parents...aren't as...casual as I. They...persuaded me to open up with a very formal greeting. We will have much to talk about, I hope?"
Gorrm perks up on seeing the Countess enter. "Ah, that must be the one that all these mammals are courting today? This should be fascinating! Thress, is the gift for the Countess still in your possesion?"
Thress is still sizing up everyone in the room, and their guards. "Yes Gorrm." She hands over a wrapped package. It is about 1 meter in length and 1 foot in width and depth.
Gorrm takes the wrapped bundle, and looks around. "I should find out where to put this. It would be poor form to let it get damaged."

"Emperor Gorrm, it is truely a pleasure to have one of your kind in the court, and even moreso the leader of your kind. I expect to learn much from you." Lafiël said with a sweet smile. Then she noticed the present carried by Thress was holding. She nodded to one of her maids, and the elven girl swiftly took the present from her.
"Thank you, I will open it later. But for the moment , I must greet the rest of the guests."
Gormm bows slightly, with a flick of his tail thrown in for embellishment. "As it should be, Lady. No guest likes to feel slighted. I will amuse myself watching the others prance around like show horses."
He bends down low, and cocks his head, looking with one eye. "As an aside, would you happen to have any good, strong wine in the vicinity?"

Her dress was spectacular and the delay before her appearance had served her well. Expectations had rised among the crowd for every minute they had to wait, and to his own surprise, Cyrus found that he wasn't unaffected to it when he actually met the slender, magnificient elven lady. I feel like a schoolboy again. Heart thumping and all.
Cyrus eyes were following the Countess after their short meeting, where he had only time to answer her greeting in a low, soft voice as he bowed before her and gently lifted her slender hand to his lips, "I surely hope so. There are so many things I wish to talk with you about.. milady."
Now he waited patiently while she greeted Emperor Gorrm (an obviously very interesting person, and one Cyrus wouldn't mind to talk with later) and the other guests, hoping that he would soon have some time alone with Lafiël. But for the moment, it would be rude to intrerrupt the rest of the greeting.

'He actually loves...me.' She thought.
"My dear Cyrus," She says, flushing a bit pink and starting much the same way as Cyrus did, for pure lack of words. "I accept your gift, it is quite beautiful, and I appreciate your understanding of my ususal view on gifts. Yes, I do have a passion for spaceships, and I would love to see your airship. Please lead the way."
Lafiël slips her arm into the crook of Cyrus' arm. She smiles up into his eyes, trying to hide her shock, but for the most part failing.
Cyrus was quite taken by surprise. He hadn't imagined she would want to go at once - at most he had hoped that she would courtesly agree. He was also bewildered; did he see what he thought he saw in her eyes, or was he merely deluding himself into seeing what he wanted to see? He couldn't quite understand his own reactions either, but he knew since the moment he had seen her picture that he had to meet her in person. To actually do so was.. he couldn't even describe it, his mind was full of thoughts and his body full of feelings.
He tried to hide his racing thoughts while smiling back at her; it was a delight to have the delicate, slender arm of the eleven beatuy in his own, and he put his hand on her arm for just a moment.
"Countess.. Lafiël, I will be delighted to show you", he managed to get out, mostly thanks to his extensive experience from politics and his upbringing, but it still felt like a novely; he had said her name as if on a first person basis, for the first time. For a moment, he was wondering about the other guests, but if she was willing to leave for a while, he was not going to argue.
"I am no scientist, but I can tell you a bit of the technicalities", he began, both trying to entertain her as well as avoiding a silence that would most likely be awkward. "It has something called gravity-wave propulsion. We call them airships, but it could just as well travel underwater or in space. This one is a prototype, the first full-scale ship we have of this type."
Meanwhile, Pirmin was racing ahead of them to prepare the limousine, causing his heavy body to seemingly pulsate in all directions as he huffed away, still trying to catch something to eat in the process. Totally pointless too, since the elven maids were already calling the limo to the entrance.

Cyrus smiled back at her, she was even more beautiful as her face shone up by its own inner light of joy. They stepped into the limo, with Pirmin holding up the door for them. Well inside the spacious bulletproof Concordia limousine, he tried to explain further as they travelled to the airfield. It helped to clear his mind as well. After all, he didn't want to look either awkward nor needy.
"Well, I got it all explained to me and demonstrated, since the people wants answers and they like to hear it from me, but I can't say I really know the science behind it. It uses a previously unknown element to create a very powerful electrostatic field around itself, which effectively creates a 'hill' it rushes down, Sort of surfing on a wave. In theory, it could be amazingly manuverable and fast, but right now, it's either pretty fast or very maneuverable, but never at the same time. They're still working on that. I can rush it up to several machs and it can do about 550 Kph perfectly sustained. In theory, it could reach near lightspeed, but I hear it all depends on how much power you want to waste flying. Fortunately, we have fusion power for that, so I think it will get better."

"Hmm, that's very clever, but wouldn't the electrostatic field damage surrounding electronics? Or is that an electromagnetic field? Oh, dear, it appears I've made a fool of myself." She said, covering up her mouth in embarrasment.
Thankfully she noticed they had arrived at the airfield. But soon something dawned on her and her smiled faded a little, and she became consumed in her thoughts.

Cyrus, noticing that she withdrew, kept mostly quiet during the rest of the ride, only commenting on particularly magnificient scenery they passed as they raced along the road.
Maybe I overdid myself.
They reached the airfield, and shortly after the airship - it had a definite ufo-like quality to it, being discus shaped. A landing ramp was open, leading into the depths of the hull. While the driver opened the door, Cyrus got out and helped Lafiël out as well.
"Here we are. Perhaps a tour over your country would be an idea? You can show me the interesting places and I get to show off my grand piloting skills", he said with a smile, trying to cheer her up a little.
They walked aboard the ramp and Cyrus lead the way towards the bridge - it was a large, half-circle area with instruments and computer screens, but not as many as you would imagine. The bridge had large windows on it as well, though they were shaded from the outside.
"The lounge for passengers is more comfortable, but the view here is better", said Cyrus with a sweeping motion over area. "I am at your command, milady."

"Thank you for the opportunity to choose. I would prefer seeing the view. You can show me what a great pilot you are." She said with a smile.
As the prototype ship prepared to lift from the airfield, Lafiël paced the perimeter of the bridge, looking out the viewports detachedly. She finally made up her mind and spoke her thoughts to Cyrus.
"I'm sorry, Cyrus, but it was a real mistake to bring humans to this party. Perhaps you don't know that elves are seemingly immortal to humans. We live for milenia." She said sadly.
Cyrus did not reply at once. His face was calm but serious as he asked permission to take off. He eased the airship up from the airfield in a smooth motion until it hovered a thousand feet above the ground. He adjusted the gravity-wave until the airship began to "fall" forward as a slowly accelerating pace. Once a steady course was established, he left the controls to the pilot and moved over to Lafiël, peering out the window.
"I read up all I could about elves before going here, and on the way. I know you live long. I thought you had a different view than that of your kin", he said. "Humans may be short-lived in comparison, but we have a unique quality."
He took her hands into his, large by comparison, and looked her deeply in the eyes before speaking with emotion. "The choice is yours. Love must be strong to overcome strong differences. If this is a path you don't want to pursue, so be it. Feel no shame. You must be true to yourself.. and I wouldn't want to lead you to something you can't live with."
His face was still serious, and sad, but he kept himself together with the same amazing self-control he had learned was necessary to lead a nation. There was no doubt he felt strongly about her rejection, but he would never push it. He cared to much of her already to do that. Maybe she could find happiness with an elf lord.. and he would be sad, but he would cherish the memories and be glad for her sake.

Lafiël's eyes grew wet with tears. The Countess buried her head into Cyrus' shoulder, and she remained there for a moment, cherishing the fact it was there for her. But when she looked up at him, she was smiling, though tears still glistened on her cheeks.
"You really love me, don't you? That certainly says something. You're right, I shouldn't fall back into the steryotypes my peers have of humans. I don't know yet, but I think I love you, too. You're more honest than any elf lord I''l ever know." She said, holding his hands closer to her.
The captain of the airship replied to the Ark Royal, now flying ahead of the Glory of Centropolis. "Hold on a minute friend, the Countess and Duke Cyrus are.. a little busy at the moment."
Not a muscle in Cyrus' face moved, but slowly, it seemed that his expression changed from a sad one to a smile. It was if a light shone up in his eyes to revitalize him without anything else actually changing.
"I feel.. something", he said truthfully. "I don't know if it's love.. I've never really felt anything like this before. Since the first time I saw your eyes in the picture that was sent out.. they were.. sad. Alone. I know it sounds corny, but I felt like I could sense a deep pain engraved in your soul. And I wanted to make it better.."
He spoke in soft voice as he embraced her slender body. For a while, a minute or an eternity as if time didn't matter, they stood there silently.
"I was hoping that.."
"Yes?", she replied with a bit of eagerness in her voice.
He smiled.
"Maybe I was just too naive about this whole thing. When I came here, I just wanted to spend time with you, get to know you better, and see if we had something.. or find out if I was kidding myself. How about this? Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill. Let's just.. have some fun together, and maybe you will come to know what you feel.. I think I would.."
He gave a up a short laugh, immensely relived that she had changed her mind - it was his bottled up emotions that let themselves out.
"Come.. I'll show you how to fly the airship and we'll teach that pilot upstart a thing or two. This ship can travel in any direction", he smiled mischievously.
There was one other thing he had hidden in the back of his head since she had first rejected him, but not spoken of. He kept it to himself for now, but told himself that he would tell her that there might, just might, be a solution to the age problem. He didn't want to say it before, because he wanted to be accepted for what he was.. and because he didn't want to seem desperate, nor try to come in the way of her happiness by insisting. Later, he would tell her..

The Countess released herself kindly from her embrace with Cyrus, and stepped over to the main control console. She inspected the various controls, facinated by the technology. As she looked over a monitor showing the integrity of the ship, she heard a distinct cocking noise, and the chill of a metal barrel against her head.
"Hmm, the long awaited rebellion. This is your idea of freedom? You pathetic scum." She said to the man behind her, struggling to contain her rage.
The man, dressed in a ensign's outfit, brang Lafiël in front of him and placed the revolver's barrel to her temple.
"Shut up, elf. You have no place in this country. We've lived with your kind and these obsolete restrictions on business long enough." He said, slapping her upside the head.
"I'm sorry Cyrus." she said with a sigh. "Look what I've gotten you into...I'm so sorry."
Angry tears welled up in her eyes.
"You'll all die." She hissed.
"But we'll do it with pride, and we'll take you with us!"
At the Ahb mansion
3 armored vans crash through the front gates of the mansion. Men pour out of the back, armed to the teeth with a wild array of weapons ranging from automatic rifles to swords. They charged into the mansion and easily overpowered the people and guards inside. Three of the men, two with pistols and one with and old rifle, met up with Adam and the Sakkrans.
"Get on the ground, now! Now! I said...now!" One of the men yelled at them, brandishing his weapon in their faces.
Several thoughts raced through Cyrus' head. He was shocked, but kept his mind crystal clear. In fact, his awareness seemed to increase beyond normal means as adrenaline rushed through his body. One thought was that security was lacking, the next considered the situation. Lafiël was probably safe. For the moment. The kidnappers must want her alive for now, or the man would have shot her already.
Who can I count on.. not Pirmin..
Sudden action was out of the question since it would put her at risk. Especially since he didn't know if there were more of them aboard. In the end he decided to play dumb. The attackers might just buy it and give him a chance to act.
Restrictions on business.. hired professionals or rebels?
"Who are you? How did you get aboard my airship? Take your hands off her, now!"
He tried his best to act offended aristocracy as he waved his fists in front of the man, rather than looking for a slip.
"Shut up!", said the man and turned his gun towards him.
This is my chance.
He couldn't wait, even if there probably were more of them aboard. Nor did his own safety matter to him now that he was given a chance. He acted with all the speed and precision he could muster, and silently sent thanks to his personal military instructor who had taught him how to act like a soldier.
He grabbed the gun and pushed it to the left, then hit the man right on the cheek with his right fist. The gun went off. They all three fell to the floor as he struggled with the attacker. The man tried to bring his weapon to bear on Cyrus, who still held it with his left hand, and slowly, slowly it began to point towards him. He forced the weapon down, and it disappeard between their bodies. Another shot went off, and they both relaxed and laid still on the floor while a pool of blood slowly began to spread beneath them.

As the man and Cyrus struggled, the Countess fell to the floor. At the sound of a gunshot, she lept into action, pulling the man off of Cyrus as blood pooled at her feet.
"Cyrus!." She screamed as she struggled with the rebel on top of him.
Looking at the man, Lafiel noticed a large gruesome hole in the man's chest. Tossing the corpse aside, she kneeled next to Cyrus.
"Cyrus...your suit is ruined. And you're hurt." She said, feeling a bump on his head.
The Countess rose, pointing towards the elven district.

Suddenly the cocky rebel is thanked with 15 pistols rounds to the chest and face area. Adam quickly facens down his armored helemt and visor and starts gathering up the hosages in a safer room.
Cyrus looked at Lafiël. The bump on his head didn't hurt as bad now, though he still had a splitting headache. He was glad to be alive - jumping an armed man like that was just plain silly, and he couldn't understand afterward why he had made such a desperate move. He didn't answer her in words, but his actions made his decision clear enough. He looked at the captain of the airship and gave his orders.
"Captain, take us back to the Ahb mansion at maximum speed. Tell the pilot of that F-8 what happened, and contact the Cyberutopia govern.. no, scratch that. Tell the police. They will react far quicker than the military, who will have to wait for the government to make a decision. Get my bodyguards here, arm everyone else aboard, and have the security guards check the ship."
For a moment, Cyrus whished that they had brought more firepower or guards with them, but he had left in a hurry, plus out of courtesy for Cyberutopia they didn't bring more than a minimal amount of security. Now it looked like an obvious mistake. He looked at her again.
"You shouldn't get involved, I can tell they want you badly. You should stay here, in relative safety."
But he already knew her answer. From her look and actions, he could easily tell that she intended to fight - and she was obviously no stranger to weapons. He unclipped his own magnum and checked the magazine just to make sure of what weapon he had and how many cartridges there were left. It was a monster of a handgun, a .50 desert eagle. No wonder the terrorist had a gaping hole in his chest. It had only five rounds left now, but the attacker probably had more clips on him.
At full speed, it only took a couple minutes to reach the mansion. Instead of flying back to the airfield, the airship was settling down on the huge lawn, the door opened and the landing ramp extended. Security guards in black suits and kevlar vests came out to make sure the area was safe before taking up guard close to the airship.
"Are you sure you want to do this?", said Cyrus to Lafiël.

"No, sorry, there is no way in from the air. We're going to have to go in by ground." She says, pointing towards the most discreet way to enter the mansion. Luckly, all the rebels were inside and hadn't noticed the arrival of the CIDT, Cyrus' airship or Hugo's men. Lafiël places her hand on top of Cyrus'. "I'll be fine." She says, understanding his concern.

The rebel thinks for a moment, and then motions for one of the other men to tie him up. The man approaches Adam with handcuffs and a rifle. Another man aims a Deagle at Adam, in case he tries anything "funny". The man holding the elf hostage throws her to the ground.
"Fine, don't do anything stupid, or you'll both end up as the new wallpaper." He tells Adam.
"You were the pilot? Didn't I spot you at the party?", replied Cyrus to Hugo. "Of course you and your men are welcome to join in. What's your name?"
"Prince Hugo", he replied.
Cyrus thought for a moment. "What I suggest then is this. The special police has suitable equipment for this. How about a few men launches smoke grenades into the mansion [are the windows protected?], while the police negotiate with them. It should worry the rebels, and cover our approach. Hugo, 40 men is a welcome addition, but a bit too many to sneak in with. How about they help the police cover the mansion. You can come with us if you like. The Countess knows the place best, and its her mansion, so it's a given she leads us.
"I stay at her side", he stated firmly. "My guards have a few IR visors, and I think I saw some among the police. Let's equip ourselves and begin."
No one seemed to have any serious objections to the plan, so they quickly prepared. A small team with Lafiël, Cyrus, Hugo and a few selected men were going in. Cyrus watched with admiration as he followed right behind Lafiël. It was one thing reading that elves were graceful and fleet-footed, but to actually see it was a completely different thing, and he was no klutz himself. Soon they were deep inside the mansion with no trace of the rebels yet, thanks to the Countess' superior knowledge.

Lafiël gracefully led the small group through the mansion's intricate halls on a course that would hoplessly confuse anyone else. Still, though the chance was low that they would happen across, she stopped at each door or corridor, as if there was an army inside. "Welcome to the armory." She said with a smile that looked almost evil, as if a cat had finally caught the mouse, but was intending to play with it. "Behind these doors is a warehouse of weaponry, from antique muskets to heatseeking rocket launchers. Every elven mansion has one. It is often used as a showcase, but in...certain circumstances...it can be used for other purposes."
The Countess sweeps an intenticard through the scanner, and the doors swing open silently. She leads them inside. Lafiël was quite accurate in her description: every weapon those in the group could think of was stored in the armory.

He already had the huge desert eagle, but exchanged it for something much lighter and quicker to handle, a twelve round SIG Pro. But this was just a backup, he had something else in mind. Frag grenades were out of the question, but he picked a few smoke grenades, and a crossbow with a gas-propelled auto-recocking mechanism.
"Dump smoke, use IR goggles, fire crossbow. Invisible, silent, and lethal at close range," he explained his planned tactics quietly. They headed out. Cyrus now took the lead since he was going to try to take out as many rebels as possible silently, directly followed by Lafïel, Hugo and the others in the small team.
The elevator ride was pretty uneventful. Hugo called his men to fire in smoke grenades through the expensive windows of the Ahb mansion just before the team reached the floor with the hostages. The doors silently opened, and he walked out silently, as he had learned in Centropolis military. Military duty was compulsory in Centropolis, and being the ruler, he had been trained by the best, not without results.
He put the balls of his feet first and gently rolled down each step, making sure that there were nothing on the floor that could make a noise as he stepped forward.
I was right. Two guards..
But their attention was understandably very much on the grenade attack, fearing that it was tear gas or worse, probably. Cyrus had a perfectly good target in his vision, seeing the first rebel as an image of red and yellow in his heat goggles. He aimed and fired not four steps from the man, hitting him square in the throat. With a gurgling noise, he fell over at once.
"What's the matter?", said the other rebel, just as Cyrus turned around and shot him in the chest. He looked in astonishment on the bolt sticking out of his chest, then he slowly fell to his knees, trying to pull the bolt out while a red spot was quickly growing larger on his chest. Then he fell on his face and was laying still.
Cyrus checked him quickly, and found that the rebel was also wearing a kevlar vest.
Good thing I have a crossbow, he thought for himself. While a kevlar vest could take the brunt even out of a rifle, a sharp crossbow bolt would cut straight through it, just like the rebel had learned too late.
He motioned to the others and tried to show them the man.
Hopefully they'll get it and aim for unprotected areas.
He signalled with his hands where he was going next, and began to sneak towards the hostages, sitting lined up along one wall.

OOC: Not exactly sure what I can have my characters pull off here, so for now they're going to lay low until the fighting stops. Should any rebels attempt to storm the room again, there'll be a pair of Sakkrans waiting.
Also, I thought it was silly since the thread seemed to get sidetracked rather swiftly, from suitors attempting to woo the favor of the Countess, into an FFA firefight.
However, it has since been explained what is occuring, and makes much more sense to me now. I'll interject again when I see a decent opportunity.

As Cyrus showed the group how he had shot the rebel in a weak spot, she nodded. They progressed silently foward. Suddenly, Lafiël perked up and slid in front of Cyrus and held up a fist. The group stopped, and she listened into the distance for a moment. After a few seconds of waiting that seemed almost like an eternity, she was sure of what she heard.
"Do you hear that? Talking. Casual talking...there's more up ahead." She whispered, and listened longer. If you were an elf, you could hear a dim click distinctive of an assault rifle's breech system. "One has a rifle. Are you going to take them, Cyrus?" She asked as quietly as possible.
OOC: Yeah, Sakkra, I think I brought this part of the plot into play far too quick. Glad you understand, though.

[Just as well I lost my last post for continuity's sake. I'll think of something else. As for the plot twist, it was like lightning from clear sky, but oh well, I like twists and turns..]
The way now clear, Cyrus continued forward until he could make sure by their stance that the men in front of him were rebels and not hostages.
Two of them, that will make it difficult.
He aimed carefully and took his time, supporting his right hand with his left on top, an unusual firing stance he had learned to prefer.
Twang!
It hit the man right in the eye, killing him instantly. Cyrus couldn't see this, but he certainly could see the man fall to the floor and not get up again. But his comrade bent down to see what happened. Cyrus quickly put in another bolt and fired, though he didn't have time for a precision shot. It hit the man in the back, but didn't kill him instantly, and he gave up a short, dampened cry.
Damn, I hope that got lost in the noise from outside. Otherwise we'll in deep trouble.
The good news was that he had now cleared out the ones guarding the hostages in this place. He carefully sneaked forward, and looked them over.
"Kep calm, we are the rescue.", he said quietly while he cut free the hostage that looked most able to handle the situation, then gave him the combat knife he had used. "Free the others, and head for the elevator. Go along the wall, but keep quiet."

Adam lays on the ground in horible shape. His armor was down to the gell layers and parts of his skin were showing. His vision slowly became fuzzy.
Answering the Countess' call, Cyrus suddenly came out of a cloud of thick smoke, assault rifle in hand. Since the mission now had turned much more into open warfare, he had decided to change his silent but slow firing crossbow to something else, and picked up a few of his victim's weapons.
He pushed up his goggles and smiled at her, in spite of the serious situation, simply to tell her that he was fine. He put the IR visor in place again and moved out - more rebels were coming in, and they were getting better. The three of them cooperated in firing, one on his knees, and two standing behind him, laying a deadly net of suppressive fire into the room.
Fortunately, he was prepared for it. He fired a three-shot series on semi, jump-rolled forward to a new, knee standing position as the two survivors fired back. He immediately switched to full auto and fired again. The two rebels jerked with every bullet that hit home, until they both fell. Cyrus didn't take any chances though - they could be wearing protection. He ran forward and drew the pistol, finishing them both off with headshots. Their skulls literally exploded in a red splash.
He felt cold-hearted after doing that. He knew it was necessary, and they would not have hesitated to kill him, but it didn't make him feel any better. Still, he didn't have time to indulge in mercy for the enemy, so he just prepared himself again with a grim look on his face.
The Noble elf takes out his Shdow bolt rifle, and fires a few rounds to the rebels coming. When he clean the inmediate area of incoming fire he moves in front of the Countess, covering her with his body.

Then he hears the soft voice of the countess, talking to....him?...That was impossible...she saw him! "This couldn´t be worst", he says to himself...but this wasn´t the time to be worried about that after all.
"This isn´t going to be useful anyway" he thinks, and removes the hood of the cloak, turning it off. His clothes were made of tigh and black latex, the uniform of the Shadow Weavers Commandos, and his complexion pale, as grey marble. Their silver hair falls down over his shoulders, and his pointed ears and fair and handsome features, although not as noble as any Noldorin elf, show his elven blood. He wasn´t more dark than many Moon elves anyway. He was one of the few true pure shadow elves left, not high, not dark.
He stares at the Countess eyes, just for a second, expecting to see rejection and hatred there...but he found something else...something that he wasn´t expecting...something nice. Suddenly he screams "DUCK!, NOW!"
Then the shooting started again. Several rebels discovered the prone dark elf behind the door, and fire their weapons at him. As fast as he could he returned the fire with his handgun, emptying it, but taking down the rebels.
He talks with a soft voice, not showing any emotion. Then he says: "I entered the room a while ago, but I was....incognito, you could say...let´s say I was sent here to protect your life...Do you know any backdoors exits?, because...OUCH!"
