Question about UN Resolutions

King Koopa I

This question is in regards to NationStates 1. I'm a little picky about the cosmetics of my nation. I'd like to keep my civil rights rating where it's at. If I joined the UN, and a resolution were to be passed that increased the civil rights of my nation, would it affect my Civil Rights rating, or is this only affected by my choices made in the issues distributed to my nation?

Yes, the WA effects your nation's stats.

So, either

1. Create a puppet, (many people would call their nation, "King Koopa WA Mission") for the WA.
2. Don't join the WA at all.
3. Join the WA with King Koopa, but before a civil rights resolution gets passed, leave the WA and come back after the Compliance Commission does its rounds to avoid the stats change (two days after a proposal is passed - to be safe with the mysterious server updates).

Avoid these proposal categories for sure...

Human Rights
Moral Decency
Recreational Drug Use
Gambling

Or you could, you know, actually use your WA membership to fight for improvements in civil rights, TG like crazy for support, politic as hard as you (legally) can and take the stats hit if your impassioned pleas fail to move all those hard-hearted dictators.

I've noticed (both inb my Nation, and at least two other nations in my region) that after joining the WA, my economic strength drops quite a bit, is that usual?

It prompted me to quit the UN, and with my advice, so did my regional buddies, a little while later their economies gained a lot of strength.

Is it all the free-trade resolutions that kill the WA economies, or are there other factors too?

Is it all the free-trade resolutions that kill the WA economies, or are there other factors too?'Free Trade' resolutions are GOOD for your economy, as are 'Advancement of Industry' ones: It's the 'Social Justice' and 'Environmental' ones that you have to worry about...
