Hello there, I'm pretty new to NS. I am very involved in international politics in CyberNations, but lately CN is pretty boring. I'm hanging around waiting for NS2 to open, so I decided to give NationStates a chance.

I'm currently in New Earth, but I'm looking for something larger and less dull.

What I'd like in a region:

-Rather large and active.
-Be at least somewhat RP oriented.
-Have a lot of regional politics, elections and debates.

Well, you could try the Asian Continent (http://www.nationstates.net/15288/page=display_region/region=asian_continent). We're not too big or small, quite active in RP on our own offsite board. There's also usually a lot of international intrigue in said RP.

You could try the International Democratic Union (http://www.nationstates.net/region=international_democratic_union). We're slightly larger than New Earth, and RP and elections are both important to us. We also have a map (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=558361)...

Or you could come to Sapientia (http://www.nationstates.net/page=display_region/region=sapientia). We're a large region that is politically active. We're not much of an RP region, but sometimes we have them, although you could do some RPing here on the Jolt forums.

Those last two don't go well together. I recommend New Caribbean although I am not in it. It don't have a pass so you can just pop right on in.

Okay...I'm a total newbie...what does it mean if someone asks you to join their region? Are they asking me to become a part of their country, or do I still get to keep my name and all?

@Rowaness: You get to keep your name etc. A region is an alliance of nations gathered together under a single banner of some sort.
