Okay, this is a little issue I have with this thread - http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=392208 and the way in which government catagories are calculated. Someone who has more knowledge of how the game works in detail may be able to help me out.
My issue is this - Where is the line drawn to distinguish a high freedom from a medium one, and a medium one to a low one?
The main thing I'm finding hard to understand is that some nations are catagorised as an Anarchy for having three high freedoms, but their freedoms are in some cases lower than mine, yet I am still a Civil Rights Lovefest.
Maybe an example might help me explain better:
According to the thread, to be an Anarchy you must have three high freedoms. My Civil Rights and Political Freedoms are both Superb, and my Economy is Powerhouse. (http://www.nationstates.net/broughdom) Again going back to the thread (near the bottom) it says that Superb is (11) for Rights & Freedoms, and Powerhouse is (13). So my nations freedoms collectively add up to 11+11+13=35.
Now, take another nation in my region who is an Anarchy (http://www.nationstates.net/lepredykes) He has Excellent Civil Rights (10), Very Strong Economy (11) and Superb Political Freedoms (11). So collectively he is 10+11+11=32.
These two other nations (Jokelahoma and Alibertaria) are also Anarchy's, yet both their economies are only Very Strong (11), two less than mine. When added to the other freedoms, one nation has a higher number than mine, the other has a lower.
So there are three nations who are anarchys, two of which have a lower overall score than I do, and one of which has lower or the same in everything. So how can someone who has lower or equal freedoms be an Anarchy, if I'm not? According to the thread, as long as all freedoms are high, anarchy status is given. Therefore the nation in my region which has lower or equal freedoms than me should be the benchmark for an anarchy. So how come I am not one?
I am a Civil Rights Lovefest, which according to the thread says I have High Social, Medium Economic, High Political. This would mean that a powerhouse economy is "medium". This is clearly not the case, because all the nations I have mentioned above have lower economy ratings than I do, yet are still anarchy's (which, remember, requires all ratings to be high).
So back to my original question. What defines a high freedom according to that thread? Going on current nations ratings that I have mentioned, I should be an Anarchy. If anyone could fill me in I'd be really grateful. I want to get to understand how the game works more now - I've been on it long enough.
Wow long post, sorry. Thanks.
PS. I've just thought, the only thing I can think of that would completely throw everything I have just said out of the water, is if when the thread says, "High Social, Medium Economic, High Political (or whatever it may be) for freedoms, they do not directly relate to a nations Civil Rights, Economy and Political Freedoms catagories. If this is indeed the case then I will feel so dumb for writing all that above. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find out soon. Cheers.
