Black widows On The Dinner Table

"We have to do something about them anyway, so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have black widow kebabs, black widow pies, black widow-on-a-sticks--the possibilities are endless!"

Next day the Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson George W. Dodinas who proposed this was found dead after opening an anonymous parcel filled with ones.

P.S. My government must have been Social Darwinistic, not Social Democratic. Well, let's see how close I can get to this solving the issues like one above.

P.P.S. I am newb.

Welcome to NationStates. You don't actually have to solve issues, though what you do about them can sometimes make good roleplays.

In the meantime, you might like to have a look at the "Got Issues?" forum, where there's a lot of info about issues, and in this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=338362) is a really vital point about issues that lots of people miss: The issue should make the reader, after making his decision, think he should maybe have picked another one.

That's why the issues are often quirky and some of your decisions will have extremely unexpected effects.

Anyway, look around and you'll find lots to do. You may find this site (http://www.safalra.com/other/nationstates/) helpful.

You're not the only arachnid nation, BTW; check out the search feature by hunting for an imposing female named Shelob who frequents the Strangers' Bar in the World Assembly forum. (You can buy her a drink on my tab.)

Have fun!

Thank you for the reply. I am aware that "solving an issue" includes an option to dismiss it. That's what I actually did in the widow case. What I was trying to point is low flexibility of issues (without any previous knowledge of them I picked an animal which made "Dinner table" issue proposals quite ridiculous, much more probable choices of dragons and griffons would result in nearly the same).

Another funny example was a question about military service ("Year's military service could solve many problems we have with our youth today" or something like that): being honest and straightforward I would have to answer "Agree" (and "Strong disagree" to the question "Should there be any?") because where I live it was actually 2 years until recently (1.5 now).

I am not trying to roleplay true spider (arachnid) nation. It's rather a nation encouraged by its public mythology and government to adopt spiders' social models. Not to the extent of cannibalism... probably (had I more relevant "dinner table" issue it would worth thinking).
