The Problem With Issues

The problem with issues is that they aren't realistic enough. I understand people want to add a bit of a comedic touch to most of the issues but sometimes it's ridiculous. My latest issue was questioning the practice of animal experimentation. There were two options, one for and one against animal experimentation but it should go deeper than that.

1)"What have those poor, defenceless animals ever done to us?" asks Randy Jong-Il, owner of the East Eleknar Penguin Sanctuary. "Kidnapping these helpless creatures from their habitat simply to stick probes and needles in them is just barbaric! How would you like it if someone caged you in a lab and conducted tests on you just to find out whether a new product was fit for sale? Experimenting on animals ought to be banned!"

2)"It is not unethical," replies Dr. Konrad Nagasawa, the chief surgeon at Eleknar's largest Cancer Research Clinic. "The unethical thing to do would be to deny the public of the benefit of the great scientific advancements we're making! If we have to sacrifice some animals in the name of science, healthcare, or a commerical venture, then that's just what we've got to do! Think of the lives we could save! All we require is more government support and funding for this worthy cause."

Suppose I choose option #2, I chose to dismiss the issue. Why can't I choose option #2 without giving more funding and support? I should be allowed to choose what I do with my choice. Some issues require that you take money from education and give it to the military, if you select that option, but why can't I choose which area to take money from? I just think it's time for a little more realism. Enough with all the stupid comedic comments. I want to run MY nation the way I want to. I should be able to choose whether or not I take money from one department or multiple departments to give more to another and I should be able to decide which department to take from. More than ever I'm simply dismissing issues rather than choosing one of the options because so many of the issues just don't give me to options I need. Obviously this is probably something that would be better discussed in the NationStates2 section of the forum but it is Gameplay oriented, which is why I placed it here.

Your choices do give you specific outcomes. They just probably aren't what you were expecting. This is a political satire game -- all of your decisions are skewed to the extreme automatically.
