:mp5: :sniper: Should we be able to start wars in NationStates? Or would having wars just start cyberbulling?:mp5::sniper::headbang::headbang::confused::mp5:

*cough* (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=1230)
We do wars there.
Also, a word of advice: don't overuse emoticons.
Some wars here at NS are ture blue and involve pracital discussion and good RPing from the parties. All the ones I have been in have been like that. But some are just an excuse to be a cyber bully

I think something was mentioned like, wars will never be incorporated into game play, the only wars will be Roleplayed wars.

No wars for me. The people who want wars can RP them.

Wars should be RPed only. To really implement war in the game would simply open up a whole new arena for raiders.

Don't see why not. If u don't wanna be attacked or declared in a war, then u should be able to simply check a non-violent nation box when creating ur country. If u feel u made a mistake and want to undo it, then u could just create another country or maybe a penalty could be instituted such as halving ur population and per capita GDP.
Course I recall yrs back that NS was defined as a community where RP was the priority, not strategic mechanics. There's plenty of other games anyway where u can wage wars in political environments anyway.

I'm all for war, as long as its not unreasonable (Ex. 11 Billion pop Naiton :sniper: vs. 5 Million pop Nation) or if both nations are okay with it.

:mp5::sniper:It would be nice to see how war would work out because my nation is in the top 100 for world’s largest economies, and I have a large military force. When invadeder regions come I would be able to push my military and economic weight around and destroy them. It was horrible when my region was successfully invaded by nations who had basket case economies and I was at the highest economy possible (freighting) and in the top 300 of Nation States most powerful economies. The strongest economy they had was reasonable how could the United States, China, and Europe lose to Mexico, Afghanistan, and Africa. They invaded and occupied my region a third world region occupied a first world region my region had several large militaries our poorest country economy in the region was very strong. Also I and three other countries had nuclear weapons we need war so I can on my terms kick invader ass economically and militarily. My nation had more money, a larger military, better educated citizens, better science and technology and I lose to them. This needs to be looked at more.:gundge:

How do I go to war against another nation? Or trade?
In one sense, you can't. NationStates doesn't include these things -- because it's a simple game, and because they would bias things in favor of militaristic and capitalist nations. One of the nice things about NationStates is that you can craft a nation into your idea of Utopia without having to worry about such pragmatic concerns as national defence.
Into the breach, however, steps the NationStates community, which has independently devised an entire system covering war, trade, and just about anything else you can think of. This takes place entirely on the forums (mostly in International Incidents), and is role-played.
Many people have asked about the possibility of a more sophisticated version of NationStates, with trade, military conflicts, and more. This does sound cool, but I haven't decided yet if I want to do that. It would be a lot of work, and I'd have to charge people to play it. But it's possible.
Copied and Pasted from NationStates FAQ
End of story, No more... There will NEVER be war on NationStates unless it is roleplayed!

Honestly, I would probably do something similar to what some regions have done and have some sort of war system, but I would do so by Tactical and Strategy gaming. However, this is almost pointless since it will actually have no effect on the countries whatsoever, and is more just an excuse to play some skirmishes. However, it would be interesting to play battles proportional to how powerful the nations are (adjust handicaps on C&C, adjust money on Total War, etc.). In the end, I will probably make a region for me and my friends and have clearly defined rules for the gaming, and really the only benefit could be to make the decisive winner of the wargames the UN delegate, since that seems to be the only thing nations can do among each other besides talking (there's no tribute system, land or money, that I know of, thus no real conquering).

NationStates will not have war.
