New to NS

I saw an alliance member (from a different game) mention this site the other day, and I decided to check it out. After getting lost in all the FAQ and Help threads for an hour or two, I must admit that I am somewhat intimidated.

How soon should I create a fact book for my nation?

Should I pad my post count before attempting to join a RP?

Can I assume my nation has industrial capabilities beyond those mentioned in the NS summary (i.e. furniture restoration, soda pop sales)?

Is it legal to assume my military has modern IRL military equipment, or does that need to be purchased from players in the II section?

Thanks to those that offer up insight and tips!

I'm new as well. Been here about two weeks.

^^ nstracker.org will help give you some guidelines as to your nations economic abilities.

I just jumped straight into the RP portion, but I did so by creating my own post so as not to break any "rules." I'm slowly learning my way around and am finding myself posting more and more.

Go check some of my posts if you're looking for decent RP examples. There are some other formidable writers around as well.

2: Up to you. Many player said something about post requirement. However the most important part is your Country money/pop.Actually, your writing ability is far more important than any of that. If you can write well, most people won't care about your population, what a third party site says your GDP is, or your post count.

The industries listed on your nation's main page are just its most important ones, you certainly have others (unless you've actually banned them) too.

In respose to your questions

1. Whenever you feel like it, it doesn't really matter when it's written but for bigger RP's people like to know who they're fighting with or against

2. Not at all, the amount of posts does not signify a good RPer, so long as you have a good style of writing then the amount of posts is irrelevant.

3. Obviously, love to see the country that relies on it's Soda industry for support :p.

4. Of course, but keep it within reason. A country as small as yours isn't going to have 10,000 MBT's for instance. There is nothing stopping you having small, modern Armed Forces.

I'm also new here, at least to the forums. I've always been intimidated by the sheer size of the NS Forums. Any suggestions where to start?

Go search for "DJ_Enduro" in the "International Incidents" forum.

You all are more than welcome to join in any of the RPs I've created to test the waters. As long as your literary prowess exceeds that of the average 18 year old day dreamer; you'll be fine.

Also, my region, The 420 Belt is always taking applications for membership. I plan on turning it into a vast RP region. Once we hit 50 members or so, I'll draft up a map of the region. Send me a telegram to apply and receive the region's password. We currently have 17 or 18 resident nations.

Remember to designate (ooc: for out of character) and (ic: for in character). When leaving little notes and such on your stories.
