What else can you do in nation states besideas decide on public policy?
what else are you worthto the region?
what else are you worth to the world?
what else are you able to do?
What dose all of this mean to every one else?

The point of Nationstates, unfortunately, seems to be an "extreme" nation so you're ranked high in the UN reports and everybody notices you.

The point of Nationstates, unfortunately, seems to be an "extreme" nation so you're ranked high in the UN reports and everybody notices you.Uh ... noooo. The point of NationStates is to have fun in whatever (legal) way appeals.

Some things you can do with your region are: set up/join a system of government; RP with your region mates; jockey for the UN Delegate position; join your regional army to raid or defend, if you're in a raider or defender region (this is different from going to war, which is roleplayed).

Things you can do with your nation are: give it a history, a culture, a geography (there's a bunch of NSers who love making maps), a language (likewise), a flag (also popular), a government, a religion, a population (which might include non-humans), a UN presence (you don't have to be your region's UN delegate to speak in the UN; you don't even have to be in the UN); write UN proposals and bring them through to success, while arguing about why the UN should involve itself in such things.

Things you can do on the forums are: roleplay (making up stories with other people); deal in weapons or vehicles (storefronts); design such things; go to war or avert it by skilled diplomacy; have adventures in space; encounter aliens; travel back or forward in time; attend music festivals; 'live' in your favourite fictional universe; stagger around in the Strangers' Bar; make up some more extreme, biased, odd but often funny Issues to confuse other nations.

And on General you can argue politics in your own right, debate religion, socialise (a bit), make friends and enemies, get advice on everything from pets' health to spiritual crises, swap photos (PG-13!) and talk to other strange people who also choose to spend insane proportions of their lives in front of a computer screen.

That was beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for your thoughtful meditation on NationStates.
