I only instituted compulsory ID-s, citizens database and barcoding. Why would that make me a dictatorship?

Probably because of the barcoding. And the citizens database.... and the compulsory ID's.

The UN may have placed your nation into that category because that's what it thinks you are, but it's dividing all of the many & diverse nations that exist within NS between just 27 categories so that sometimes the fit isn't perfect: You have to accept the label, of course, but you don't have to accept the idea that your nation's government is actually headed by a Dictator if you don't want to do so...

But frankly, you are a dictatorship. Where's the integrity of the people with bar coding and full control of the population, you can use that information to get people to vote for the party you like, and follow your enemies. So the UN thinks you're a dictatorship though, big deal

Barcoding aside, all I've instituted is perfectly normal. That's what we have in my country IRL.

That hardly comes close to giving a total control over the population.

It has to do with your decisions on issues and your answers when first setting up your nation. NS is a political game based on a book in which existing political trends were exaggerated for satirical (and funny) effect. So in-game effects are exaggerated (and funny) too.

I'm told you can fix it with care, devotion and eating muesli for breakfast. If you want to know what categories you can end up in and what they mean, go here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=392208&page=7).

If you want to know what effects individual issues may have, go to the Issues forum and read other posters' speculations. But that's all they are, just speculations.

Your nation's statistics will also be affected by NS UN decisions, which is one reason for keeping an eye on what's happening in the UN.
