Ok.. why does it say my nation has banned private enterprise? I've never done anything to restrict it.

Some issues are believed to affect multiple categories. For example, you may thing you are voting a civil rights issue and the choice will decrease economic freedoms....

The description you start with comes about because of choices you made when setting up your nation. Choices have unlooked-for effects because this is a political game, and that's how it is in politics.

Is there a way to fix this? I definitely don't want to ban private industry.

I'm afraid you'll have to wait & hope for the right issues to come along...

... Or create a second nation, and be a bit more careful how you answer the starting questions for that one. (Having more than one nation at a time is perfectly legal, as long as you don't try to make more than one of them members of the UN at the same time...)
