I feel that a combination is needed for this game to be what it is. I say options 1, 2, 3, and 6 are what keeps me active in NS. I voted other.

On a seperate note, thank you mods for fixing my account.

1: I like seeing how my nation changes.
6: I started being involved in the forums about two weeks after I started, and haven't left.
7: Ties into 6 as 99% of my roleplaying is on the forums.
8: Moderating and (a bit of) issue coding.

7, 6, 3, 1.

I tend to see 3 and 1 as part of roleplaying anyway, and most of my forum activity is roleplayed (except when I'm modding -- and maybe I roleplay that, too; in real life I'm actually very sweet, patient, charming ...).

i live for getting a new or even old but interesting issue. especially one that has at least one option that's even close to being useful. which doesn't happen often.

i think the roll playing would be great. if, the roll playing were even intersting. meaning something OTHER then armed conflict of some sort or athletic competitions.

like how about figguring out how to GET ALONG with the natural environment and enhancing citizen's opportunities for the gratifications of creating and exploring.

there was a quiet temple roll played for a while in the general forum back when i was carlemnaria, that i thought was wonderful. this was before i think, ns made the move to jolt.

i think that was probably the last time i tried to actively participate in one.

scientific exploration on strainge new worlds is another good possible roll play scenario, that doesn't have to envolve military nonsense nor bennifit from doing so.

It's a near tossup between 3 and 2. Building a new region can be rewarding, but also very frustrating, especially the recruiting. I also enjoy the invasion/defender part of the game. I'm a regular poster on several offsite forums, frequently poke my nose in NSG, and enjoy answering questions in Gameplay & Tech. My UN alter-ego debates on that forum, though not as actively as some. I also like to RP. but don't have the time to keep up with a fast-paced or long-term RP, and war RPs aren't my strong suit.

Forums.

It's also fun to see what results the wacky selections cause in my nation, but it's really hard to get back to psychotic dictatorship, you know... so meanwhile I'm playing on the forums. :p

I like seeing what different directions you can take your nation in through the issues. Especially when your citizens don't complain about your choices. :p It's so much easier to be evil that way.

Very hard, but I would have to say the forums. Because of RPing and others. Though nation cultivation is very fun.

For me it's a mixture of 2 and 3, but mainly figuring out the "government" constitution of a new region or group. I've found that to get a lot of activity and debate going that makes the game interesting and fun (and infuriating :p).

I like creating useful resources that earn me the respect of fellow players. Many years ago I wrote NSDemographics, which was the first piece of software for analysing game regions, and more recently I've written articles on the NationStates section of my website (http://www.safalra.com/other/nationstates/) covering things such as the mechanics of the influence system and a list of the remaining founderless regions.

1, 3, 6,

I enjoy maintaining my nations strong economy, (I've moved into Top 30 in NationStates) high civil rights and improving political freedoms but with a right-wing, conservative bent. I also like having a high endorsement count, currently around 200 endorsements.

I enjoy regional participation, I am involved with most of the feeder regions, mainly The North, East, and The Pacific.

I enjoy the NS forums and other regional forums.

I know many NSers look down on Roleplaying, but I see it as the best part of the game. It lets you build a deeper side of your nation, to enrich it with elements such as culture, technology, society, geography, demographics, and other aspects overlooked in Gameplay. Rp'ing also grnats one more creativity. Issues seem to describe all nations as modern, first-world, representative democracies.(With the exception of issues addressing dictatorship). Whereas in Roleplay, a nation can fit into any scientific or economic level, take any sort of government, from oligarchy to thalassocracy, and deviate from our boring RL world. Of course, that isn't to say that Nation cultivation isn't good. I rather enjoy it myself.
