What a difference a few years make...

I last used this site roughly 4 years ago, possibly closer to 5 and its strange how little appears to have changed! And I'm very relieved to see it!

Well, I have some more time on my hands now (new, better paid job with much better working patterns) and am looking at re-introducing myself into the Nation States RP-ing environment. I've read through some of the posts and notice how the "personal" side of war/terrorism/border disputes have come out in some of the RP's! I always used to post EVERYTHING as a news flash or press conference. I may have to brush up on my interpersonal fiction writing I guess.

And to the point of the message...

If anyone can suggest a good, active region to immerse my fledgling nation into, I'd be more than glad to mooch on over and throw in a little out-dated and infinitely flawed role-play for the amusement of others.

His Majesty,

King Arutha of Rodensia :)

Welcome back to NationStates. :) It has been a long time, hasn't it? If you haven't already, it might be a good idea to check out the new and shiny ruleset in the Moderation forum so you can make sure to avoid getting in trouble on your way back into roleplaying.

I'm tempted to recommend a region or two, but as a Mod I'm supposed to pretend I'm unbiased. ;)

Thanks very much for the welcome. I've had a look-see at the rules and shall endeavour to break as few as possible ;)

Tell me, do all nations still have pikemen or am I a little behind the times?

Hehe. You can have pikemen if you like, or unmanned orbital death rays if you prefer. Roleplay has a lot of possibilities for you.

I'm generally happy to deal with the "here and now". Light Sabres and Deathstars are a fair few years away, and so they should stay in my opinion. I only mentioned the pikemen since I was watching a quite funny film called something like "The Mouse that Roared"... simply a small town stuck in medieval times declares war on the US.

Just imagine, men in chainmail armour armed with swords marching on a company of tanks...

Sounds good. :)

Here's a link that might help you in your quest to find a roleplaying region to your taste.

And with that, I'll bid you good luck and goodbye.

And, as an aside, if you'd like to have your old nation back it can still be restored.

I had also been absent for about an equal amount of time as you had been, and only had returned back in March. To be honest I'd rather be building my nation up into an international power now than earlier on. Happy to see another player return to the game and hope to write with you down the road!
